when starting this game is very easy to look at your handy down set with a bit of disdain but even with a bit of Truth in that thought do you really need to spend £2,000 to see a difference well the simple answer is no in this video I want to share with you my must-have golf bag for beginners not only with underrated Brands but with a maximum 600 budget where am I going to allocate hate most of the money however don’t get me wrong £600 is still quite a bit of money which is why I’ve chosen brands that are literally a fail safe meaning when you improve and your equipment improves you can sell virtually all of this equipment for the same amount of money that I’m telling you to buy it for now you have a rather rare opportunity to make a bloke on the internet very happy because I’m within Arms Reach of 100,000 subscribers well that is definitely something different and if this video or any of my other videos have ever helped you I’d be very grateful if you wouldn’t mind clicking that button that being said it still went 270 so let’s start with the bottom end of the bag and then work up to my must have driver at the very top for anyone that kind of just wants a cheap upgrade in 2024 now let’s be honest in this game you can pretty much putt with well anything go to any local golf course and there’ll be an 85y old player there that would absolutely wipe the floor with me around the green with his 50y old putter but this isn’t something I’m going to recommend to a beginner and I’m going to give you tips for every Club Choice don’t feel you have to build the exact bag but I want to give you guys the tools how to build the perfect bag for yourself on well budget tip number one thicker grip mainly because we don’t want wrist movement in the putting stroke therefore thicker grip easier to set in the hands now neither of these are my choices but if I had to choose between the two of them for a beginner I’m choosing this one Mallet put’s bigger head style Putters and more forgiving bigger head the more you hit here and here the more forgiving opposed to something like this and then lastly something heavily overlooked alignment behind the golf ball I used to recommend two ball Putters down here on the right hand side and still a great putter but can be harder to align to the Target however I’ve gone with Odyssey as my brand of putter because they not as expensive as Scotty Cameron but they hold their value just as well this white hot RX putter first of all looks amazing retails at £129 and still goes for £780 we’re talking 8 years since release and people are still after them I’m budgeting £70 for the pter and that may seem a lot with A600 budget but it’s arguably the most important Club in the bag also a quick thank you to replay golf that’s helped me build this entire bag disgustingly underrated wedge brand but not because no one will buy it off you afterwards and that is the tough battle through this bag cost effective yet at the same time people still wanting the clubs and just like these wedges a lot of these clubs retailed a lot cheaper than let’s say the more premium Brands which means obviously the secondhand price is therefore going to be somewhat lower but it doesn’t mean it’s not going to perform few guys just starting the game go on give me the zip oh naughty tip number one with wedges you don’t need three or four vys in the bottom end of the bag to maximum especially if you have a sandwich already in the iron set number two is this is one of the biggest mistakes I see so many beginners make is that they go 52 56 and then 60° wedge and the issue with that is most pitching wedges even sand wedges are heavily Del lofted meaning the pitching wedge is at 44° and then your next clubs are 52 Dee wedge well no wonder you’ve got a 25 yard Gap there Simple Solution get the sandwich in the iron set and then go 50 56 or if you’re going pitching wedge 48° and then a 56 now my underrated brand is Cleveland but we have to look at head typers this is not the club I would recommend not because of age or Price more to do with the fact that it’s so sharp that Leading Edge for someone that’s quite steep which a lot of beginners are is going to catch the wet ground especially if if you live in a country like England like myself and it’s going to go straight underneath the bow opposed to my chunky 50 to 60 L option have a look at the sole on that bad boy meaning when that beginner has a swing that well looks a bit like this it has somewhat of a chance of not digging but bouncing or gliding across the ground but at this point you’re probably thinking Simon you spent near on 170 180 just on three clubs what are you going to do for the rest well I’m glad you asked because I now have the impossible task of recommending a beginner iron to the entire population of beginners around the globe because dependent on someone’s Club head speed these could be amazing choice for a beginner golfer but also in the same breath someone with a lot more Club head speed these could equally be a good choice for them as well tip number two is don’t bother getting a 4arm in these kind of head types as they’re so Del lofted and I’ll explain why that’s good in a minute but a 4 IR in these sets are essentially a two iron and to be honest starting this game you don’t need a two IR tip number three steel is perfectly fine but don’t let the ego get the better of you regular Flex is going to be fine especially if you’re struggling to get the ball to stop on the green as well as the bad shot being out to the right hand side number four is trying to save you money check the G grips on your new iron set that you’re trying to buy second hand as sellers very rarely put the price up because the grip condition’s good but it just means if there’s some friction left on the end of it you don’t have to grip the thing for dear life when you’re trying to hit the thing number five is Li angle two upright then potentially the ball’s going to go left two flat potentially the ball’s going to go to the right however for someone that hasn’t broken a 100 it should be the least of your concerns as any L angle isn’t going to stop that 40 yard hook the Wilson d7s Wilson heavily underrated they come out cheaper than other manufacturers but as I’ll show you sale listings people are still buying them week by week the point is I need a 200b set of irons that are affordable but you will be able to get rid of in the future if you do outgrow them but these are designed specifically for a beginner someone that doesn’t move any of this comes over the top with the face massively open so they have to release early they have to cast so the ball goes somewhat straight and because they’re releasing early they’re adding too much loft to the ball as well as coming across it so they’re glancing it very much like this but at 73 mph we still got quite decent efficiency and 140 odd yards and why we outgrow clubs imagine that player that comes down with that open face having to Rel lease scoop chicken wing whatever it is to keep the closed Club face all of a sudden they’re now more shut their clubs on a better plane they’re turning their body therefore getting more Club head speed well this heavily Del lofted s iron all of a sudden goes 196 yards right we spent near one400 what you going to give me at the top end and I haven’t left much money to these two clubs £45 each if that because they’re difficult for a beginner and I think you should have them and they will become your best friends and I can even hear a lot of you going Simon my Fairway Woods the best club in the bag it goes further than my driver well I’ll explain why that is the case in a minute I was very close to just suggesting Adams hybrids and Adams faway roads because they go for next to nothing and performance- wise forgiveness wise I think they’re just as good as what I’m about to show you however throughout this whole bag is the must have and the mus haves means that people are going to want it after you when you upgrade your bag I don’t want you sitting on this stuff for 3 months trying to flog it off which is why we’ve gone tight lless 9913 how good does this look with the hybrid adjustable I mean let’s be honest the shaft itself’s worth 40 quid alone and classic looking I want it to look right in the top end of your bag not something that looks old and Tatty performs well but there is a definite aesthetic SLC confidence balance throughout this game tip number one don’t get a three hybrid get a four hybrid potentially a five hybrid if your 6 iron only goes 150 odd yards number two especially with these Fairway Woods make sure they haven’t got bag wear marks down the side of them ask for photos ask the seller because of the age of this the performance is great however I don’t want you to play three rounds with it and then this shaft just snaps on you and then tip number three just like the hybrid I’ve gone for a fairway wood 930 as well don’t get a three-wood get a fivewood but even these old school Model Seven Woods are still a premium because no one sells Seven Woods the point is these are difficult you’re going to Sky them you’re going to scuff them you’re going to Dent them don’t spend absolute fortune on your Fairway or hybrid when you’re starting out and let’s be honest titless have been doing this for quite a while and I do feel with these 930 models they have the adjustability the looks the feel and the performance of a lot of the Modern Day stuff but will cost you less than a dozen Prov v1s to have the pleasure of owning one now it’s driver time and a lot of you won’t be surprised with my choice as I’ve only got virtually £100 left to spend but as I said earlier a lot of you will hit your driver the same distance if not less than your 3-wood or fivewood off the deck and there’s a really good reason for that and is the fact that swing there works for virtually every Club in your bag but this one it’s also a reason why you hit your mid irons really well when we start this game very little moves meaning that it’s all arms coming down into the golf ball and hitting down on the golf ball is good because ultimately if we hit down on the ball we’ve got all of this face to work with whereas hitting up on the ball well you’ve kind of got this Leading Edge however coming over the top means one thing going to the right unless you then strengthen your grip therefore if you strengthen your grip that club face naturally wants to close but as we close that face then it also dofs the club and it’s a reason why a lot of you hit your a iron an absolute mile because it’s not an eight iron it’s a six iron steep very low launch across the golf pool but let’s be honest you hit your eight iron 155 so you’re quite happy with yourself it’s for the same reason your fivewood is your best friend because it’s giving you that Loft it’s giving you that element of forgiveness because it’s well a wood and the ball doesn’t think it’s getting hit by a fairway wood it thinks that it’s getting hit by a driver you guys that relate to what I just showed you there this is your release on the way down notice where the shar’s pointing and your elbows pointing at your feet off to the left imagine we did the opposite imagine the shaft is well behind you notice where the grip is pointing no where our elbows pointing out to the right hand side push that club low turn your chest how on Earth are we going to find the ball from this position well you’re going to have to get your weight forward and not well stand up the point is we’re trying to go from here to here here to here notice where the Sha poting Noti where that head’s pointing if I release the club from this position notice what the club does up out away down across this way top down release driver tip number one 10 1 12° adjustable your swing’s going to change we don’t know if you need 9° we don’t know if you need 12° so get something that you can Tinker with even if it might be a bit of a placebo effect and lastly a big head that is 460cc very easy to research this is not something that you would want again smaller head helps lower spin but then less forgiving hell to toe which is why this is my 100 to20 Choice the o21 Gen 1 which I think looks better than the Gen 2 and I’m allowed to say that because this is my current gamer and what’s the point in me telling you guys to get affordable equipment if I don’t use the affordable equipment myself the point is for 100 for these clubs you’re getting shafts that are worth 7 80 in themselves not to mention it’s a big brand and lastly for something that hasn’t got any carbon in it whatsoever it sounds pretty good up on it higher launch low spin 314 yards guys if you got any questions on your golf bag or swing ssfac academy.com and I’ll catch you guys later

  1. For a modern cost effective bag, Cobra end of season and demo clubs are very affordable, with all the current tech.

  2. The most in-touch with reality golf channel on youtube. I was reading MGS's "beginner" club recommendations article the other day out of curiosity and they were leading with $400+ drivers, some Stealth HD irons (or GBB 2023 irons for $1500) and other absurd suggestions. Absolute madness in an era where the GBB Epic is performing head-to-head with the Paradym.

I'm a 6 hcp playing a cobbled together set of Titleist 755s, some Vokey SM5s, an Odyssey 2-ball Pro in excellent condition that was $45 on CPO, a 2022 Adams Tight Lies 5w that was $30 shipped new and an Epic Max I got for like $100 on Facebook. All in this was like $325 and is a more than respectable bag.

Anyway, the point is, you're seemingly the only one covering the used value market and talking specifically about resale which is the true cost of these purchases. Golf isn't expensive if you can offload things for the same price as you bought them. Thanks for keeping it real.

  3. I have a Titleist TSR2 Driver, TS2 3FW, a combo set of T-350's and AP3's, & a 910 hybrid. I enjoy the new clubs, but can attest that just cuz something is new doesnt make it better. My TS2 3 FW is the best fairway wood I've ever built, period. The 910 models, imo, is one the best series Titleist has ever put out. How i see it is there are jumps in technology once a decade or so, and every model afterwards is just a variation of the same technology, which doesnt make it better, just different. You can get a TS2 FW wood and 910 Hybrid for $130 or less online, and theyre literally some of the best clubs ever made
