so in this video we’re going to take a look at Taylor May’s new offering in the utility ion category we’ve got dhy we’ve got a Udi two offering two different styles of head I’m going to go through and explain which head might suit you as a golfer we’re going to test them both obviously look at some data as well in terms of the differences of the performance between these two clubs so utility iron C you always get a little bit excited when Brands launch in this particular area because I’ve always grown up as being a one player in my uh junior days and two I definitely still in the bag for me not a great fan of hybrids I always Edge them more towards that I in so these sort of sit right in my sort of sweet spot now first intins with these two ones from uh tailor made is a really nice sort of clean look we’ve seen the previous models of dhy Udi in the stealth version the dhy if you ever saw my review video of that I didn’t like it was an ugly duckling it it was a horrible bulbous looking thing we still see a bit of that shaping but a little bit more rounded bit more refined now so I think you’d be pleasantly surprised with that new look so I’m going to start off with the dhy so as we would see here a larger sort of profile thicker sole we’ve obviously got this back of the golf club which does stick out in that playing position above that top Edge some of you will like that some of you will not like that I think it’s always a little bit of a Marite sort of situation there in terms of a look but we’ve got this nice new sort of satin finish with this little black gloss section on the back very clean dhy logo TM Lo uh T logo there um really nice sort of look I like the sort of finish on that now in that playing position as we would say see from this dhy and and the design of this again is a little bit more forgiveness a little bit more ease of flight we’re going to see this head get stretched back a little bit obviously that puts a visual there of seeing that back Edge sat behind it does that distract your eye only you will really sort of make that decision but very sort of confident inspiring I would say down behind that golf ball okay let’s get theu first one away with this dhy so this is a two iron lofting at 18° of Loft okay not too bad at opening a little bit up that left hand side touch low in the face but um not by much but felt pretty good flight was was quite nice there nice sort of sound to that not too loud obviously these are Hollow constructions sometimes see that sort of loud sort of noise with these Hollow Heads This is obviously filled with that speed cuz obviously speed foam makes everything so much faster H but just definitely helps to deaden that sound a little bit or control it a little bit more should I say so the big thing that with the dhy which obviously gives us a little bit more that higher ball flight is obviously that deeper CG location now what we’ve done with the dhy is sort of made the face a lot shallower but the blade length is a lot longer so it gives us a little bit more of that sort of confident inspiring look behind that ball a little bit more meat sort of down there in a way and it look like it’s a little bit more lower profile which allows you to sort of flight that ball a little bit more yeah that’s a good flight I mean this 18° it’s a 2 and it’s off a tight light on a mat and that’s flown pretty easily into the air so I’ve added a column on there so height Peak height of the ball flighting feet on trapman there so that was 95 feet and we’re going to look at that when we switch into the Udi and just compare maybe what these two golf clubs are trying to offer depend on you as a golfer oh it’s beautiful nice ball flight up in the air that’s flying but it’s not stalling he keeping that ball flight forward but it’s definitely a knees of launch there I would say spin around that sort of 3, 3,300 around that 230 car that’s a good hit so I think as you as golfers you know why would you go into a utility I probably the golfers out there a bit similar to me really maybe don’t quite get on with hybrids maybe struggle with the look of it or maybe what the ball flight does with a hybrid Maybe sometimes a bit too too high in a way whereas you see a utility L will typically give it that little bit of a lower flight with a dhy obviously UD should be a little bit more piercing and lower again so if you like more of that iron look then these are obviously good options to replace those longer irons so the dhy comes in a two a three and a four iron option oh that’s a good strike just again a little bit of that left hand side but what a Bly that is so technology happening in this particular Club as say Hollow of construction we’ve got the speed foam in there we’ve got a a thicker back section to this uh particular club which is helping with sort of stabilization there’s a stabilization bar in here as well so helping with precisely position that CG location to obviously optimize launch and spin now we’ve got the word Forge stamped on the holer there but don’t be foed this is just a forged face only it’s not a full body Forge by any means so forged face give a little bit of that softer feel there but still quite clicky I would say in these types of golf and we’ve got up to 26 G of tungsten thrown inside this head again CG location uh being precisely positioned as well as some forgiveness levels as well as that launch in the air okay yeah nice flight okay really quite like that to be honest is it the best looking Golf Club on the market no it’s not is it better than the stealth version 100% better it’s very confident sparing it looks a little bit easier to S of launch I really quite like that to be honest but let’s move into the Udi so UD ultimate driving iron more of a Tour preferred look is what Tade are seeing and just compounding some looks against that dhy much thinner on the sole as we’re going to expect much sort of Slimmer on the top line than the dhy a little bit more compact in head a little bit deeper face in relationship in that playing position again it’s just a little bit more sleeker in that look we still see the back of that edge just sticking out from that Leading Edge in that address position but very very subtle uh in that 2 O so probably maybe the three and four on you probably might not even see that at all with that little bit more Loft so much more need to look if that’s a preference for you again this is a twoin it’s a 17° so the Udi comes one degre stronger in this two in relationship to that dhy so again that’s going to help with that slight lower launch the more compact Ford CG again is going to help with a slightly lower launch and a lower spin but obviously we’re going to check that in this little test now oh wow okay that is piercing very very different ballf flight there wasn’t the perfect of strike I must admit so launched at eight quite low spin lower carry a little bit shorter CU obviously it’s not going to stay in the air as long with that lower spin but it’s going to hit the deck and really run so look at that height Peak height there that’s only 51 ft height dhy I give a look at the numbers at the end here but the dhy is up into that sort of 80 90 ft area so different B flight straight away yeah very very different ballf flight much more lower much more forward on the flight so really I think straightway there for me you know if I’m playing like a more Lynx Golf Course or a a windier golf course and I want to see that sort of flight getting a little bit lower into that wind that would be a perfect option maybe not the longest in terms of carry but getting that coming in at a descent angle that’s pretty hot it’s going to want to release when it hits that deck but really good in that wind so it goes back to again has to maybe is why or which one of these models would you choose in this area one of the reasons why tail made offered two options and many of the brands B do this as well so you know if you’re naturally a high ball flight player maybe the ud Udi will be a better option to try and control that advice first if you’re a very low ball flight player and want to try and get that flight a little bit higher in that longer area of the golf bag the dhy is obviously going to give you that offering as well that’s the best strike of the lot there little bit higher because that’s slightly better strike but again still definitely a little bit lower very strong on its Flight 2 and a half spin so does it spin anywhere near as much as that dhy and you see that land angle coming in around that sort of low 30° Mark so it’s going to get that sort of release when it hits that ground as well just definitely doesn’t look as confident in sping it looks like you’ve got to make sure you got to get you know the strikes got to be really good with this okay torch low in the face but very nice straight ball flight so again availability wise in the Udi is a two ion a three ion and a four ion and very much that p790 sort of shaping and looks if you’ve got in the p790 ions and maybe you go down to say a five ion or even a fouron and you’re looking maybe to put that three ion two ion area in there these will blend beautifully uh with the 790s but obviously at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what ions you’ve got these will fit in there on their own accord it’s just all obviously about getting the gapping right oh that’s an absolute bullet just up the left a bit but that is piercing on that ball flight very very desirable when it’s windy and that’s probably where I would just Edge over uh the dhy with the Udi in those sort of conditions but I probably prefer a little bit that ease of use the flight that little bit more extra ball flight with the dhy and that just that confidence in spound which obviously is a big part of it let’s go and check a few numbers out okay so when we look at these dispersions here you can see the White and the orange a little bit more distance with the orange there which is the Udi obviously getting a little bit more of that run out uh when it hits that ground and then we can really see this with the numbers so you see Club spe pretty much identical there touch more ball speed with the Udi there uh 144 against the Just sh of 143 not a lot in it but you can see launch angle just a little bit lower with the Udi as we’re going to expect there did have a low on there with the dhy but generally around that sort of 11 degree mark on a relatively good strike spin you can see he quite different so 3A with the U uh dhy and a lot lower with the Udi so again that’s going to change the peak of its flight in terms of a height so car distance there’s not a huge amount in it to be honest but as you can see roll out there because of the launch because of the spin because of the speed it’s coming in a lot flatter so you can see the land angle at 30° against 40 with a dhy two very different golf clubs suited for different golfers so Tel’s new utility is which model would you go for appreciate you watching the video as always and hopefully we’ll catch up you all very soon
