[Music] one of the things I love about hickories is the whoosh you know when you swing it it’s you get the that wosh a little bit more than uh than you know modern clubs so that’s always a fun [Music] thing just opened up the clubs that Louisville made they’re pretty sweet I mean they’re beautiful those guys at Louisville are Craftsman they’re incredible here at the Charles Schwab challenge I think one of the neat things that they brew their identity in is the Challenger Series which I’m honored to be a part of they’ve really sought out and found diverse and unique voices in the game of golf uh they’re doing cool things and provided them a platform that they would otherwise never have I think one of the neat things about Hickory is that every club’s a little different each shaft will have a little bit different inflection point and one of the great things about when you get new hickories is figuring out how each Club feels and what you need to do to hit each one Colonial is a golf course designed by Perry Maxwell originally he’s probably one of the architects of the Golden Age Era which is from like 1910 to 1930 it’s when most of the great golf courses in America were built there’s an economy to his designs and a naturalness where he he really relied on the ground Colonial over the years had kind of gotten further and further away from that original Perry Maxwell design and and I think the club made a great decision to restore the golf course restore the Perry Maxwell design so they hired Gil Hance and over the past year they’ve been really restoring uh the Perry Maxwell design with modern golf in [Music] mind we’re here at Golf Club of Dallas you know it’s a uh Perry Maxwell design and that’s the same as the Charles Schwab challenge host Colonial we got the uh the Louisville Golf hickories out we’re going to see how these uh these clubs handle this golf course love the feel I think one of the things that Jeremy talked about the gear effect that first one I caught off the heel started left faded back towards the right side of the Fairway definitely see the differences in strikes I’m pretty happy with the first swings it’s just fun to play something different and to to explore a new form of golf they kind of challenged the general idea of like you know you need to have the latest and greatest new clubs to enjoy this game I think it makes you a better player to be completely honest because you can’t just overpower the golf course I have no clue how far these clubs are going to go I got a seven iron and one of the other things you have to consider when you play these clubs is is they don’t go as high I’m in the Fairway but I got some tree trouble I don’t know if I can hit this over those trees but we’ll see we’ll see hit it good I think it’s going to be short yeah needed to hit the six yeah I think when you play these these clubs you get a little bit more creative you want to hit different shots which is a really nice liberating way to play when you really throw out ideas and conventions and you go to more of just like I’m going to feel the shot swing it and hit it had a little grab on it you see that was awesome getting out here and uh trying out these Louisville golf clubs they did an awesome job I’m really excited to check out the renovations see what’s new at Colonial yeah we’re out here at Colonial Country Club host site of the Charles Schwab challenge Charles Schwab is just such a big supporter of the game of golf whether it is the Charles Schwab Cup the champions tour season long race or this event the Charles Schwab challenge which they picked up uh in recent years they do a really great job of supporting not only the tour but the local communities that these tours play in something you see at a lot of golf courses that are older is that the green shrink over time over 30 40 20 years it it just happens at Colonial they’re doing in this big renovation one of the big things that they’re doing is recapturing the original Green sizes you’re going to see the greens pushed out to the edges and you’re going to get a lot more interesting compelling pins because you have these little corners and Nooks that you can tuck pins back into which makes just the golf course the shots in more challenging and also it enhances the strategy one of the huge changes here is the eighth it’s a par three that they actually move the green right up against the creek that runs through the property and it’s going to be a much bigger challenge because there’s going to be a fear of missing it left into the creek it just provides the golf course a lot more dynamic range to play in hit that good from the grip to the to the shaft like that that Hickory shaft like it it’s it’s just a different it’s such a different feel of a swing the clubs are amazing they feel great I [Music]
