RailRoad Days 2024 Parade

good afternoon everyone welcome to the Railroad Days parade the the railroad days committee would like to thank our phographer Mark Smith for taking pictures of our entries thank you to the Lions for all of your hard work getting this parade going [Music] [Music] [Music] leading the parade today are units from the Dr Police Department and Grand Chief of [Music] [Music] Police joing the pr andera days festivities is Grand native in shasi County Sheriff Doug [Music] Chapman Reed Raymond BFW coach t272 in the ambet of dur with their 1936 fire truck and 2 .5 ton Army troop carrying truck has been supporting veterans and our community since 1931 also included are the VFW Post 2272 lady atill c c c c Robert L assembly 0511 is the fourth degree of the Knights of columus it is the Patriotic degree of the order our mbers are all from sasi County our Honor Guard is carrying the American flag and our float resembles [Applause] [Music] next is the city of Duran mayor Jeff brand he is being driven by John Medi [Music] [Music] the 2024 Miss railroad gra Queen is Madison Langston and her attended is mallerie freeze Madison is the daughter of Troy Langston of Burton and cadd Kirby of games she is 15 years old and a sophomore at grander high school she has two siblings Tyler and Audrey medicine is involved in many activities such as Student Government FFA Art Club Spanish club competitive dance and the Society of High School Scholars her future plans are to study business at Clemens University Madison hes to someday own her own dance studio and share her passion of dance with younger Generations mallerie is the daughter of Beth and Kurt freeze of dur she is 17 years old and a junior at Durand area high school she has two siblings Tyler and Natalie mallerie is involved in many school activities including FFA Student Government National Honor Society and committe she also participates in basketball Golf and softball after mallerie graduates she finds an attempting Michigan State University into a major in either labor and delivery or anesthesiology to pursue a degree in the medical [Music] field the 2024 railroad Bay princess is AA Maynard and is the daughter of Cassandra and Sean Maynard of GE Creek era is a 9-year-old and is in fourth grade at Robert elementary school she has one brother named Henry a dog and Bella and two cats named black and white and Winnie some of aa’s hobbies include dance playing with friends swimming making friendship bre and playing video games with their little brother aera is a member of the comp competition dance team at C dance also enjoys playing red pater basketball and reder volleyball as well as a by c o the 2024 Grand Princess son of Jamie and ronman 9 years old third grade at elementary he has one sister Nam [Music] and Ranger some of J’s hobbies include amusement rides playing with friends video games Roblox and playing with his pet bugs [Music] [Music] Jif station in with grand railroad St then family DBA and the Durand area high school graduate she is being driven by a foundation member Bruce Benson the Durand Area High School Marching Band railroaders are directed by [Music] Ryan the Durant Mar railroaders are the are 15 time state champions and nine time State Runner UPS from the Michigan competition stand Association and have participated in every nbca mcba state finals competition Inception the band is proud to represent Grand area school the City of Grand and the in the railroad next is one of the Fantastic sponsor pfcu they have a location all across Michigan as far east business for over 40 years current director and owner Rebecca zic zonic Love transition from student to owner over 10 years ago Cathy School of Dance Prides itself on providing excellent dance education for over 200 dancers each year dancers from cath School of Dance complete regionally and are headed to Orlando for Nationals in all dancers perform in an annual spring recital the dancing staff at KSD loves to have a great time in classes building skills and relationship and positive environment next is the Cub Scouts from P 84 and dur they serve as kindergarten through fifth grade out returning to the prade this year are the Girl Scouts area 307 troops from the Duran Byron areas new to the parade this year is the Durand Youth Tier this group is for kids grade kindergarten through six and signups are the week of May 20th next week the Durand High School railroaders Robotics are the first robotics comp comp comp competitive team they are supported by local team partners playing tennis and teaching others how to show swine Emma is currently serving as the Michigan FFA region for State vice president Emma is involved in Boots and Bales for H club and is a junior fair she is majoring in mular cular developmental biology she’s member of the woman in science and engineering resident program at U ofm and spends a free time watching football going to the gym listening to Taylor sth and hanging out with her family friends and dog Duncan Miss kerwood Festival team 2024 is Madison St Madison is the daughter of Wendy and Joe STW she attends aaso high school and is a majorette for the aaso Trojan marching band Madison is a member of The Varsity dance team as well as a member of the was FFA she enjoys spending time dancing at Alicia Dan cheat and working out at Fitness Coliseum she likes going to school events participating in activities in the AAS Community as well as spending time with friends and family including her twin sister McKenzie Madison is humbled and honored to represent the cwood festival in aasa community the cwood festival started in 1977 with a river race we are now have parade Carnival talent show Mr aaso contest and as always our handed down to his children and grandchildren returning to this this Year’s parade is the Duran Eagles auxiliary Eagles 385 one they are an international nonprofit organization and our motto is people helping people turning to the parade this year is Miss Davidson 2023 Isabella stepin and Miss Davidson Court Kenzie Workman and Bri Brianna straw they represent Davidson in the Festival of flags the festival is held the second week in June and Davidson is is the city of flages Miss Davidson scholarship pageant has been crowning Excellence since 1938 the pageant is one of the oldest pageants in Michigan has awarded over $36,000 in scholarships the Davidson Area Chamber of Congress is one of the oldest Chambers in Michigan having formed in 1951 the chamber is a number of a member of the community events including the flag Festival these these ladies travel throughout the Michigan area representing Davidson and promoting the Festival of flags [Music] returning to the parade this year sanctuary New Beginnings Church they are non- denominational church located in the Old Red Schoolhouse on South Oak Street in Durant next is the committee to elect Matthew Shepard if you are tired of coached by andriana hammer and Coach Ken this 2024 season has been built on intent intentionality our girls are growing both on and off the field we have girls that are striving in all different areas and it is such a privilege to watch this program girl keep up the hard work ladies it will always pay off we always the people the people people we the people are in charge of government not the other way around next is the Duran high school girls tennis team coached by Nicole Carpenter the girls won the mmac league championship this year the girls also played second at the Regionals and are going to compete at State good job girls [Music] next is the dur High School clay target team and they are competing for the sixth year with the Michigan High School clay target League they have 50 Area students that shoot track ski and sporting plays at the Grand Sportsman Club the sport is offered to any High any student 6th through 12th grade and if anyone is interested in joining the team please
