is in the books you had second and third place I was rooting for you coming down the stretch as my poor poor siah dallo got taken off TV that I wanted your guys to win but in a weird way I’m kind of happy I mean I’m happy for Xander I’m happy when anyone gets their first major win but now we don’t need to talk about him for the next 20 years like he’s Lee Westwood so that’s kind of nice yeah um and you know a lot of people congrats on staying on the wagon I’d bet Xander at the Players i’ bet him at the Masters after watching how Wells Fargo went even with Rory’s Bonanza I was like you know what I’m done I’m just done I’m not playing 146 to1 this time it didn’t it felt inevitable but it didn’t feel inevitable in like the DJ or day sort of inevitability of it like it felt like maybe like he’s really not gonna do it but um good for him happy for everyone who got it happy we don’t have to talk about it any that’s a fair point second and third that was a lot of fun they were paired together uh there were fireworks I was enjoying myself but in the end Xander uh got it done him and Danny Willet Dante major Champions I’m trying to think like to go back in my mind trying to get out with the Rolodex that shot that he hit on 18 standing in the bunker ball above his feet and absolutely annihilated it just final hole great shots is it the best that we’ve seen since Fitzpatrick’s bunker shot at that Brookline oh you put me on on the spot final hole great shots Fitzpatrick Brookline wasn’t all that long ago didn’t cam Smith do something fantastic at the open he had the shot he had the shot on he wasn’t in the last group but he had the shot on 17 the one where he he chipped it around the bunker and then it ended up just rolling down it was amazing shot this it’s funny that you mention that because this entire week this entire Tournament final round especially just reminded me of that final round at St Andrews and that entire Tournament winning score-wise that would that would play a role I saw you make the joke and that moraa went full Rory in terms of that putting uh in my head he sort of went like full Shane Lowry on a Sunday in a random PGA Tour event sort of putting I I can’t I can’t recall a putting performance out of the final group we’ve seen bad ones and it’s hyperbole in the moment that was horrifically bad like because and all that c that showed you all that course did was give you birdie opportunity after birdie opportunity if you didn’t make one there were so many others to go out and get Bryson didn’t get four and seven on the front oh but Xander Bogey’s 10 like what a crazy [ __ ] show situation Vic Vic humman yeah it was a lot of fun Xander he did it I don’t know people trying to diminish it because of the scoring sometimes I I’d argue the easier of the scoring brings in way more of the field but in the end it was really just pedigree at the top uh high class world class players uh I got a lot to say about some other topics but let’s uh I’ll feed it back to you friend well what was is your big topic that Thomas dietry clinched his spot in the Masters next year with a top four finish no I’m really happy for him okay um how about this the king I don’t mean this but in some way Xander schafle was like captain of the wheel of losers yeah like with where he was on the odds board to bet him you had to decide you wanted to bet him over Brooks Kea Shout out to anyone who made that pull but he was captain of the wheel of losers and we’ll get into it in a few minutes but it’s got me thinking like maybe n like detri it’s maybe it is like a big time wheel of losers week big time like all the all the wheel of losers guys have their chest puffed out a bit today maybe maybe maybe not that Xander was ever truly a loser but there was that awkward narrative that as you mentioned it’s dead it’s over we don’t have to do it again now he can get how do we put this now he can be placed there in the majors and we can’t you know it just goes to his consistency that you’re gonna have that dog on Sunday in the fight and he’s added to the list Pat because it’s a very small list firsttime major Champions who do it under 20 to one not a big list and it always represents a huge ask we’ve seen a lot of guys never be able to do it you know couldn’t come up a lot of the guys had their shots he’s had lots of them too but now he’s in there so good for him like day like Dustin um just finally knocks it off and you probably don’t think it’ll be his last I’m trying to think of the other few guys who have won their first major under 20 to1 Sheffer did and Rah did I think yes uh and all all like it’s in it’s the inevitability of all of those hin probably will also now that his thre Monon Hiatus is clearly over um I’m trying to think spe might have right around 20 22 CU he went there the first time and was great and then he came back the second time and one right yeah he was yeah he was right around 20 I believe yeah but it’s like the list when you do it like you’re in a really great group and a lot of those guys have any of them not been number one in the world either of the list of guys who did win that first since we’ve been potting potting I don’t even know if that’s the word since we’ve been making this content together all those players were number one in the world at some pointex Xander would be the only one getting that major not number one in the world I think even if he won the next two majors I don’t think that would be enough world rankings points to knock off Scotty right now yeah probably probably not uh wow Scotty that feels like it was two weeks ago that whole [ __ ] and you know seems like I I don’t know there’s still like a lot of hate for Bryson but there’s a love affair for Bryson feel like the world really turned on Bryson uh in in the positive way like he was by far the guy that the crowd was rooting for to win this major championship and even coming out of it like his him going up to Xander after Xander won after he walked off the range I watched Bryson’s press conference after uh just it feels like the last two years or so have really humbled him and it’s funny because and he kind of talked about that as well but everything that Phil had mentioned about why live was important about owning your own rights to that sort of thing being able to monetize yourself and even Bryson everyone kind of laughed at him when he ended up going to live and he said you know I’m going to use this money to do X Y and Z start a foundation in Texas it’s going to allow me to do even more he’s the one that really it did benefit the most it seems I don’t I will I agree with everything you said except one part I would argue of the initial bigger group that went to live he was the only guy who said something okay hold on because we’re going to take a dance here but that stuff about the money when he got it he was the only guy who literally said like listen I’m going to and I don’t know the progress on it I couldn’t tell you if it was ever built or if it’s even in pre-construction or postc construction or a lovely kids facility but he said I’m going to build like one of the best I don’t know if it’s a Boys and Girls Club exactly but that sort of thing in Dallas I’m going to give I believe his dad is it’s a kidney issue or Li I’m not sure but he says I’m going to give that kidney foundation of America one of the biggest donations they’ve ever gotten like he said that no one else sort of said I’m going to do these things um so that I actually at the time gave him credit for now like Bryson we I feel like we’ve always liked Bryson but like anybody when he says stupid things in the whole live discourse that pizza shop [ __ ] that he said on Fox might have been the single dumbest comment that was ever made uh about it you know you’re the one giving away free pizza you know Liv is giving away the free pizza but Bryson he is exactly what you said and he has probably embodied more of what everyone talks about what Liv is not just Phil hter he’s the only one who actually seems to have been able to execute it or at least like giving a legitimate attempt to execute it and obviously that goes hand inand with having moments like yesterday win or lose sometimes in a loss we can learn as much about you or more about you in a win and you pointed it out it was very um he was great he showed it was like this perfect line of of like great energy and fist bumps and and and sportsmanship and that’s maybe the guy we’ve been waiting for but anytime we go to a course like that yeah I know I was I’d hin also that would have been fun but to be able to hit a major winner with Tim oh that would have um you know to get across the line with Big Game Hunter Top Cat that have been a blast that have have been a blast too it it there’s also part of Twitter that turned into this like it was so weird Bryson almost became like this Indie band and like people Twitter times are so obnoxious from a lot of the core stuff which I agree with we’ll get we’ll get into that in a second because I have some takes it’s almost like people were fighting on Twitter about like who loves Bryson more [ __ ] settle settle down like just just okay okay we get it so any yeah I saw what you saw all week and listen I’m not immune from seeing it as well that the course played exceptionally EAS for a major championship but it did produce a great leader board on Sunday and I enjoyed watching it on Sunday I was bummed and I think that everyone else was it’s not so much the score that I found that was the problem because no one said this about St Andrews by the way that’s kind of why I brought that up which also played incredibly easy with no chance of really making bogey anywhere and that was the problem that once guys got out ahead that when someone shoots a 64 on Sunday and they didn’t start from miles miles back that you would expect that person to go on and win not everyone to kind of shoot 65 67 whatever it might be and you’d want to have a hole or two where you’re going to give one back or there’s a huge swing Hole uh and we saw that I think it was what 16 or 15 on Saturday when Xander made the double but that was just more on him it’s not like that was the most difficult hole in the world for anyone to go up to there just wasn’t enough Bogies out there to make it really seem like a major championship test I get that and when the greens are going to be soft and guys can fire at pins it’s going to happen but at the same time I spoke to a few of my friends on Sunday morning CU was my my son’s birthday both of our children had birthdays this weekend and they people ask me about golf at this thing and they’re very casual golf viewers and they were hyped for Sunday they’re like oh man I can’t wait to I they were just like I can’t wait for the back nine guys are going to go fire at some pins I want to see you can like make a bunch of birdies and go win this thing like the average person was not deterred by this like yeah they like I don’t care if it’s minus three or if it’s- 20 I just want to see like action happen on Sunday I want it to be compelling and it was compelling coming down the stretch uh even and we did get some nice drama on 18 because of the lie that Xander ended up drawing and Bryson hits it into the woods and it bounces back out and he sticks it from 200 yards out with like I [ __ ] flip wedge or something like that with the way that he was hitting the ball on some of these approach shots but yeah it was eight iron from 2011 and just sticks it makes the putt but the average person didn’t care it it just people get in their own heads about this [ __ ] all the time yeah I agree and it’s like I don’t know we need something to be upset about and it it’s not right like it was not perfect it was very far from perfect you detailed why and there’s a Justin Ray tweet that just shows how bad it was Pat like in terms of the total field score relative to other Majors it it wasn’t even close to even St an or anything I feel like no it was the easiest buy like 200 Strokes or 250 Strokes or something like that for the entire field I get that listen I want to see it be more difficult too I’m not on the camp like I want every major to look like this but at the same time roll with it when it happens it happens so that was sort of my point on Sunday morning I’m like listen the course people we’ve given you the microphone for six days we’ve heard everything you said and we agree with you but today let’s just enjoy this but you’re not wrong at points like if you’re a true golf like dgen nut you’re watching a major championship that feels like the John Deere you know friends were joking with me in my group that like wow I can’t believe Oakdale had a better uh uh you know a higher score lower score than um a PGA Championship ha haa not fun and and if you’re true Hardo it’s not fun to see no true bogey hole out there right um you make that 67 you got to think Buddy’s going to be lucky to make par coming in granted 18s created a drama over the years and in some ways they got what they want but to too much of an extent but also to me this comes back to this comes back to equipment and the ball and people can I truly believe it’s a problem so I’m happy to know that it’s being rolled back not for me or you uh nor do I think that should be the case but it’s got to they were here a decade ago the winning score was what 14 under we’re here again it’s 21 we if they came back in a decade which I don’t think they’re going to it would be you know 30 that’s just how it’s going period And there are there are not many courses outside of fields like a Pucket maybe in the northeast or the you know a you can widen out the Northeast a bit that can really hold these guys and they like to take this [ __ ] around the country and the PGA of America would be like an uncle who’s gotten you the best [ __ ] birthday present for a decade and he finally missed and you’re you’re outside bitching at the barbecue I thought it was compelling TV I enjoyed I sat down dad I watched for like seven straight hours I was entertained it’s all I really care about I mean it’s hard for me to truly I I had second and third place right in it tied for the lead so my entertainment I have those goggles on now when I’m not in that position during a major I take those off and I’m thrilled to enjoy it a and um be entertained by it but I was watching it from a totally different lens you know like a homerism I thought the broadcast was truly horrible yeah there delays in some of it I was caught up with some kid stuff I taped some of the stuff on Saturday because I just wanted to watch the broadcast or watch it instead of tracking it um and it was painful even watching it like tape with the 153 second like forward bomb pad like it was painful so I couldn’t imagine having watched some of that in in actual real time and then if you are tracking it you’re seeing like how late they are on some of the things it’s it’s uh it’s a whole thing I don’t know but again goes to there’s a lot of people without an app who are tracking that don’t really care and they’re doing what they do over at CBS the app was really bad too in terms of being caught up into real time that obviously sometimes for major championships especially at the PJ Championship they delay the feed to everyone else so there’s like different levels of the up-to-date feed that you can get and it feed itself was like two three four minutes behind like I would go try cuz I was after Keegan made birdie at one I was like well can he shoot a 58 here and get himself into the mix I was trying to figure out what he was doing it too it’s like well I know he’s already finished too and it’s still showing him in the Fairway so this isn’t great yeah it’s really annoying even on some of the higher end tracking Services uh you know fantasy Nationals got a great one if you end up on some of these Sports books who pay the piper Pat you could see the odds change like almost like um 40 seconds before they update the score so it’s like you could almost tell whether he made the putt or didn’t make the putt like the odds knew but the system of actually telling us didn’t know yet but you could see if it was made or missed by the odd adjustment even though it was still saying a dressing ball or overball or not even overball so all of it but you know we’re probably in a hyper n pocket who who that who that stuff bothers but those are the sort of people who are watching and and supporting us so we’re like-minded people in our in our complaints but yeah the app was [ __ ] horrible and I said on the cut Sweat Show the leaderboard was blocky as [ __ ] not not to be confused with Michael blocky but but it can’t be blocky like that the names like I didn’t even use it I was done with it I didn’t even care get lost pal happens to guys I vividly remember this happening to weisberger the last time that they played at Valhalla I think he was the one who was in the group with Rory and I don’t can’t even remember what he ended up shooting but he was just gone off TV and it felt like it was going to start out so well seah makes the 55 foot birdie putt um one I was like oh maybe this is it maybe he’s got the magic beans for the day I don’t think he made another putt till 18 dude he hits that putt that’s like um when you’re watching college ball or something and they the the shitty not the shitty team but someone Returns the opening kickoff for a touchdown they go up Seven nothing but they simultaneously lose like 45 to7 like that was essentially what happened to him yesterday but what did I do I bet him 90 to one to win the US Open on the weekend so that was fun that’s a fun number his his distance should track his speedium magic beans should play but yeah he got got uh but he’s a guy who’s you know he’s just trending he it’s easy to be an apologist for him today unless you had some matchup or you know he cost you something in in in DFS but easy to be a total apologist just going back to Xander though for a sec pack I’d say the two biggest moments in my outside of 18 I think of two and maybe other people who had a bet could think of others on Sunday on Sunday the par save on six on six it might have been one of the few hard holes where Bry uh Cuts in from off the green and Victor sticks it and uh he’s got like the 17 foot parut that he makes and just being abled like he did on Saturday where he got he came with birdies two birdies to close after the double he makes that birdie that bogey on 10 and he birdies 11 God damn it so his bounceback rate was pretty phenomenal this week killer but that par save on six that’s the one is that’s where Bryson chipped huded in from off the green I thought that I mean it was a beautiful bounceback on 11 and 12 for Xander to make those birdies like you mentioned but I thought it might have just been over for him once he just because everyone was bought in and that’s always the thing with Xander is that everyone was waiting for the collapse to happen and you usually when you’re waiting for the collapse to happen it never happens it’s the moment you think that oh he’s got this that’s when it happens and that’s how it felt on number 10 because everyone just you saw him play the front nine he has that big save on six he’s playing Great Golf he’s sticking everything close he could have in fact been more under par because he missed some putts inside 10 feet leading up to it but the moment he makes the bogey on the par five you’re like oh no this is where it’s happening everyone just assumed he was going to win now now it’s going to happen he bounced back wonderfully uh in that spot uh but he played the best all week like it wasn’t even close really because it felt like you know Bryson had those chip-ins on 18 on Saturday he had the chip in uh on Sunday to get it through and like with Xander it was just it was cookie cutter it was template the entire time he was just stock drive down the middle hit everything to 15 feet like he was never really in danger the entire week he was on 17 he made that nice up and down under a ton of pressure it wasn’t the hardest chip but ratcheted up with the pressure knowing that you’re the guy that gags every tournament that yeah it was a fantastic chip in order to get it up and down and make that putt make it seem nice uh even the putt on 18 it was only 5et but and it did come pretty close to missing but he ended up you know hammering down and nailing it but other than that it was just he played Flawless golf it it was pretty incredible actually where everyone else was where everyone else was you know Bryson needed the bounce off the tree it felt like the other guys were scrambling a little bit more in order to make it happen where everything the entire week was just so easy for rander think we might have been a half hour in and that might have been the first time I tried to interrupt you soing myself on the back for that um oh yeah everything was just so cookie cutter clean there were moments where if you bet him you’re probably like oh my God he’s not making any putts anymore but that’s just cuz you know everything was from 1215 ft every single one of them was on TV and when you are the guy who is the choker or like has that reputation it’s got to be exponentially more mentally exhausting Pat when you do what you do in the first round and go wire to wire because every like from the moment that happened on Thursday even jokes it what what an insane accomplishment to be so good that you know six hours into a major championship every golf fan is like well I wonder how he’s not going to win you know it’s almost like a compliment that we we say that like we give him that position um but yeah that was to go wire to wire when you carry that narrative is actually more impressive than a standard wire to wire in a major championship despite the fact that I don’t know man they there were not some people would argue like if you had Brooks on Saturday or something but there were not many Bogies out out there there were not and if you did make bogey it was because you just missed a six-footer or a five-footer right like and the amount of chippin Pat it almost became how do you put this like not special and that probably happened somewhere on Friday was like some more chippens already so early in this tournament and not like Justin Thomas’s on uh on Saturday was probably the best one at least the one that I can remember seeing minwoo had an insane one also but but everyone had one if you didn’t have a chip in this week it’s like you went to the Oprah giveaway day and got nothing did Xander chip in at all this week maybe not on that note the guy won my daugh him well I don’t think he he didn’t miss enough greens to have that many opportunities in order to chip in I think yeah and unless he did it in the nine hour in the nine hour in the nine under Thursday I don’t really have a memory of him doing it after my rent but he won so he got the grand prize he didn’t get no Riff Raff like find a free book or CD under your seat he got the big prize trying to think what else ludvig Ram both missed the cut R was hurt yeah I I I I agree with you I think he was ludvig was hurt he put on a brave face at the podium you got to talk a strong game but as you told me on the cut sweat anyone who sort of was there early in the week at practice rounds just noticed it wasn’t probably just a knee there was something with a back it seemed like potentially um yeah rum that’s uh I bet I made three bet I had my future card I made three bets I bet ROM mistake br not a mistake cam young over theala I was ready I was cheering for I hit so likable that it was kind of offsetting it and you had and a lot of people had it but that was that was killing me Rah as much as I like him I always thought he was better than Scotty at least probably a year ago I would have said that maybe eight months ago I I know epat had a funny tweet as much as I bet on him I don’t know his struggles like I can find some Freudian enjoyment in them as well maybe that’s just a defense mechanism for having bet him and it being [ __ ] but yeah that’s my thoughts on him he’ll have his moment again he’ll have his like crowd turn again I don’t doubt it well you mention the gala I don’t really like the gawa for Pinehurst that’s just me maybe I’m dead wrong about that just I want him at places that have thick rough and that’s what we saw again this week that whenever he was able to whenever he missed and he ended up in that thick rough and we see it at Tory Pines with him as well that just he’s so good out of it and we don’t have that at Pinehurst that’s fair I’m sure it’s already 901 like it just seemed high is the 11th ranked player in the world but you’re right it’s not an ideal course fit he just seems like a guy who’s B who bangs who bangs right now that being said to your point he’s so kind of hit or miss that Pinehurst really could bring in like a lot more of the and not allow for the escapes that we saw making you know around um around this place this past week so you’re not you’re not wrong I don’t know if you have a thought on on Rah or it’s just the standard like he’s just I don’t know I said on the cut sweat like it seems like you get the impression he for sure thought there was like a deal by the latest this summer and he is I don’t want to say not happy cuz he’s so goddamn rich but of everyone on Liv I think of all the current Liv players he seems like the most phased from the LI side that the sides are so far apart right now well he he made that mention that he’s still a PGA Tour member he’s just suspended at the moment I thought that was curious type of speak and even Bryson during his press conference they were talking about you know how do you feel about this year where your game is at and he didn’t want mentioned live he mentioned you know I’m you know I I feel good I I accomplish what I wanted to accomplish at Augusta like he really it’s like it’s like they’re all kind of part-time players for live and this is sort of the drawback to live and I’m sure there are some guys like cam Smith really seems to embrace being on live and Bryson does to an extent but when he was talking about where his game is at and what is important to him he talked about Pinehurst he talked about the Open Championship like it’s not what’s coming up on live you did mention it once yeah it’s not like I’m excited to get back with the Crushers and bring some of this momentum into the team room nor nor should it be because but but you think that would be a part of their talking points like hey why don’t you bring this up man I I guess so I mean he’s so in some ways where you can make fun of him where he says silly things to me he’s almost like a Sheldon Cooper like he’s so like you know either I don’t really know how to explain that further I’ve gone Deep dive that in the talking point that I’ve had even before it became mainstream was that it’s crazy that influencers YouTubers can push equipment better than pros and what kind of felt like the sign for that was Bryson and Puma separated and there was no real interest for him at all he’s not gotten a new equipment yes he’s made his own irons out of 3D technology super cool but even from a driver standpoint there’s not three entities in Gulf that I think are more marketable uh that could actually push equipment uh in the professional game than maybe Bryce and dambo promoting your driver and he still hadn’t had something so that was like holy [ __ ] pro golfers ain’t worth nothing wor nothing well but you say that YouTubers can push it I mean a lot of this Renaissance of Bryson and his popularity I think is directly attributable to his YouTube channel where he seems like a real dude and it’s fun to watch and and a part of the equipment probably yes he’s 3D printing his irons maybe what he’s doing and if I was him this is what I would be doing because this is I mean he probably doesn’t need the money he’s already generally generationally wealthy but to add on to that even more he’s probably in cahoots to try to own some part of this 3D printing and Market that and maybe he’s doing the same thing with a driver so when you go and buy a driver off of Bryson because this is the driver he’s using he like owns part of the company probably super cool those those irons they all have um like a Hebrew inscription on them so I’m for Bryson I am for Bryson uh oh that have been so much fun yesterday even there was about 40 minutes after it ended Pat getting some fresh air getting ready uh we’re going out for fireworks not quite yet waiting for that sun to dip but I was like man we would be on like whole two of a threeh hole playoff right now feel like how good would that be how good would that be speaking of how good something would have been our boy golf tips Checker golf whatever yeah golf tips Checker I don’t know I mean he what do you to what do you do he Aggregates like people’s picks and just sees who’s popular who’s not which is a handy tool for people who don’t make content who fully fixed now is it like his ceiling is so good that the fix in some ways is like really small where it’s like once it clicks it’s like clicks or do you feel like you need to see something again for him no I think this is probably it for him and even to go back and look at it when we take a look and just try to assess this leaderboard it is sort of the who’s who of the Jack Nicholas courses isn’t it like Xander is probably the only one that hadn’t gotten it done uh at Memorial or at mirfield Village but Bryson’s lost in a Player No Bryson won Bryson won it uh at Memorial way back when Victor won last year morawa won the work day and lost in a playoff to Klay at the memorial dietry we don’t know maybe dietre is the pick for Memorial this year Shane Lowry is like Mr PGA National Justin Rose has won Memorial I think horel was very much in the there as well and has been at PGA National over the past like it’s all the same guys Justin Thomas won at PGA National hasn’t Billy H won Memorial did he didn’t he win it a couple years ago it was a crazy oh yeah he did yeah there there you go every it was like one year was like the only long shot in the entire season it was two years ago yeah he won Memorial yeah 2022 there it is again so the the memorial cop completely came through unless you’re Patrick Klay I guess yeah or John ROM yeah but yeah great great I didn’t even make the Nicholas I mean in the early week stuff I sort of thought saw that but I didn’t when seeing the leaderboard make that connection thought it was interesting H to go through all that the only other ones I want to give a special shout out to for the PGA Championship my guy Taylor Moore just continues to play great golf at major championships T2 very consistent him and E rot um just lovely weeks and who else there was someone else that I wanted to Mark Hub Mark Hub got himself into the mix for two days it was nice to see I’m betting on Mark hubard this week for Colonial Positive Vibes only talk me into it we’ll get there he’s like he’s over 100 to one that was about the reasoning that I had for it just hey he just played pretty well at a major this seems like a good course for him it’s a course where it’s you know irons and putting although there’s been a bit of a redesign at the course at Colonial they they redid a lot of the greens and changed some like tea boxes and sight lines so it might not play exactly like it’s played for the past I don’t know 70 years I think it’s every year since 1946 that Colonial has been host of that but any final thoughts on the PGA Championship do you think that Valhalla will get a PGA Championship again yes I’ll take the plus money on on yes I do think that we’re more apt to see it as a Ridder Cup venue than a PGA Championship again okay yeah that’s probably fair and you could see why it could make for a fun match play situation uh but yeah you know what I guess to say yes like if that cow pasture is in play then there’s cow pastures all across like the Midwest who are like why not us like you can come shoot 20 under here we’ve got the property size for 250k tickets a day for the corporate build outs for the corporate Hospitality for the activations all that sort of [ __ ] that makes Valhalla so inviting for the PGA of America I think that’s one part that a lot of people Overlook with this and you kind of hit on it it never really occurred to me but of course it does this is a business they’re trying to sell tickets and uh I mentioned this on the cut sweat show but obviously not everyone just sits there for 4 hours with us and watches golf on a Friday afternoon but Moose had made mention this to me when I was at Hazel team because they’re going back there for the Ryder Cup in what 2029 I think it is so it’s not this time around it’s the next American time around it’ll be back it’s Beth Page 2025 Hazel team in 2029 and being at that venue you’re like oh wow you can fit a lot of people in here you can set up stands at any hole like it is a giant piece of property just like Valhalla is and probably why they had a Ridder cup there as well because you can just Jam in so many [ __ ] people into this place that’d be kind of crazy if you’re trying to if your number one goal is to sell tickets you can sell as many tickets as you want and people will actually have places to go to on this course with great sight lines and not everyone is jammed in because that’s the one thing I did notice about Phoenix when I was there especially on the Saturday it’s like eventually like you get to a point where it’s hard to see stuff cuz there’s so many people around and the course is only so big like you got miles and miles and acres and acres to deal with at some of these places that know when it comes down to the bottom line getting 200,000 people on location over a weekend is something that they want to do yeah not over a weekend like a day over a weekend right like over probably a million people come in there and yeah that’s part of it that’s something that I think people have to acknowledge and unless we’re going to go back like have a literally a five or six course rotation or some of these beautiful I’m sure courses that are private that don’t want to open themselves up to hordes of people storming their homes which is a very pretentious thing to say but I’m sure that’s how lots of these people think about it like there’s not a lot of Southern Hills out there and maybe I’m wrong Maybe I’m Wrong um but I don’t know they like it’s and that’s why give the PJ benefit of the doubt run through those winning scores they’ve done a good of a job as any of the Traveling Show major championships have done of being able to pick the course and even when they fail they’ve even when they fail with winning score they bring an entertaining finish and that’s what Valhalla has going for it and it’s list of Champions are great Champions so it’s able to to check a lot of buck as well at the same time having maybe the biggest negative which is a historically High winning score you know what they’re not going to get it again that winning score was just for the field was just so bad it’s one thing if four or five guys separate themselves and go banana uh it’s another and and the problem for that course Pat is it’s easy and it’s boring and it doesn’t even look good on TV it’s one thing to be easy but you can be easy but you have to have me memorable holes and you have to look beautiful or way more beautiful be way more distinctive that in maybe in a way that Tory Pines can look beautiful while being boring to some people to some people I’m a la Hoya of you know heart so I don’t get into those debates but you know at least there’s a Mystique and a beauty to it when you pan away that this doesn’t have so this was just easy and and boring and it didn’t have like I think it was Tim’s Point like there’s no true memorable hole at all or distinctive feature at all so that that is hurt that that hurts it so I yeah no they’re not getting it they’re not getting it again I just talked yeah no way no way well let’s move on to the Charles Schwab challenge one of my favorite tournaments every single year still I I like this better I mentioned this on the research show that I I still get kind of pissy that harber toown is a signature event I don’t think that needs to be a signature event I want to see a full field event with some good names at the top and then everyone else cuz I just enjoy watching Harbor town I enjoy the test that it presents and I feel the same way about Colonial that regardless of the field that shows up to this tournament every single year I always just really enjoy it I enjoy watching it on TV I enjoy the fields uh I think it’s a fun test of golf and it’s pretty open to a lot of players as I mentioned before there’s been a few redesigns especially on the greens but you’re going to want to have accurate hitters here you want to have great iron play and need someone who can ride a hot putter that’s sort of the template for how this goes as a part of that swing of Sony and PGA National Harbortown Windom Championship Colonial RSM all these courses with the field strength that goes along with them and the same sort of players that go into a lot of veterans end up winning at courses like this because it takes experience to know when to eat your medicine with some of the stuff Grio won a year ago we’ve seen Justin Rose here win overtime Kevin naw has been a championship we cash that one we cash cash crack the year that he ended up winning here so some correlation with valpar as well when you start rattling off lot of those names but I’ve been declaring this Tom hogi week for ages and there there’s the BET Jeff 50 to1 Tom hogi so I bet that blind with you because you’ve been talking about it for a month and I you know there’s a lot of times where I’m not going to ride or die with you on something but when you talk about it for a month I got to so I did it so I’m in on hogi 50 to one I have been I was on Grio last year and you mentioned the KN and Coke rck so I feel like in recent history uh this one has been kind uh to the show hate that Scotty’s playing we you know what Pat we did a whole thing and didn’t even talk about it but not like there’s anything to say it’s kind of been spoken about he he hit his wall Saturday and he’s probably gonna beat this place good but yeah I enjoy it hot Potter and I’ve made two bets so I’ve bet Tom hogi and I bet someone in front of Tom hogi okay well the top of the betting board you mentioned Scotty is is there I figured we’d save the Scotty talk for this because he’s still playing the charges have not been dropped against him as of this recording they are expected to be dropped he’s plus 280 to win this tournament and has kind of set the bar for the rest of the field because you have shefford that’s it’s a big drop off to morawa and spe at 14 and 16 then H at 22 they’re sort of the next collection of three havland was in this field he ended up with drawing so he would have been a part of that as well when I did the research show he was still listed in the field and that’s kind of how I had the odds going down but pretty generous odds on someone like Max H for 22 to1 although this is the specific type of course that he has not played well at all year he’s played well at the long difficult tracks the shorter although this one isn’t easy by any means you see some singled digigit underpower winners here as well but I I don’t love him this week kind of for that and with with morawa even to look back on it I I always had this circled as a great morawa venue and I think I’ve bet him here every single year so now I’m not going to bet him so he’s probably going to win but these Sundays are starting to pile up where he’s played like [ __ ] I don’t like like I don’t want to bet that number me neither although you would have you like you might have it was different but it’s sort of like just watching Sunday you’re like I don’t want to bet Xander to win the PGA Championship like I don’t want to do it I don’t want to do it um but I never again I’m sure Justin Ray’s probably tweeted about it I’ve never seen a dude tied for the lead do that on like as bad as consistently he hit 30 feet of putts the whole day or something I’m not betting it I don’t care I’m not touching I’m not touching that one Mark Howard this week if he gets me he gets me good for him he feels due but I’m not betting it one other thing that I wanted to point out because I mentioned all the Jack stuff about the PGA Championship and it’s funny because I brought this up when I was big up in Kean at 275 to1 it’s like you know another track where Keegan Bradley has one that has zoa Fairways and B grass greens and to finny to look at the leaderboard and kind of work this backwards you know where he had won where that’s the case somewhere in Boston or zo oh no Asia right yeah the Zozo which Xander also won and morawa also won yeah I guess yeah people were making those uh Zo Mora yeah yeah but his his irons I mean they were better this week than they have been but again just they’re not back to where you would think that you would expect them to be for morawa to win events and now he’s back to being priced like he’s Prime moraca and I just don’t see that as of yet although the work that he’s done on his short game chipping and putting you know take one round out of the equation has been very good over the past few months or so much better than he normally is so I guess that’s helping even it out if you can kind of you know we always pray for the shitty putter to have a good putting week right now we’re just praying for moraa to have a like vintage morawa iron week and he’s going to win by seven at some point so I I’m not going to end up going there with him if I had to guess who the other guy that you bet is I assume you bet on Tony feno uh yeah I bet on Tony feno 33 to one yeah I don’t think he can make enough putts to win but that’s me it’s a fair it’s a fair price though yeah it’s a fair price I hate having to pick like I think Scott’s going to wax these guys so I need to have a Post-It note in front of every device or you know how the books make you like I need a double confirm feature from any sport from the sports books I’m betting on like submit yes submit no reminder Scotty is going to wax these guys you still want to make this bet like I I like the books to offer that to me but yeah feno I don’t know I feel know 30th Place pays the mortgage these days that’s literally what I was saying a week ago and now I want to bet him to win a tournament so I feel so stupid like I’m buying a high but I I’m buying it 33 to1 F now I don’t care for any of these guys in front of 30 and also in this range uh I saw I’m waiting I I could be tempted to bet Min wo minwu Lee who I’m seeing out of 40 but if once they once they post their enhanced numbers that could even be 45 yeah that’s a bet Rivers I I had to pulled off on 365 this morning cuz I saw the numbers that I wanted I saw hogi at 45 I was like all right what do I do here do I bet the 45 now or do I wait for the enhancement but the enhancement usually comes out an hour or two after the actual odds drop I was like are his odds going to be beat down so much by the time the enhance comes down that I end up getting a worse number fortunately that was not the case that I was able to get my 50s when we get into this mid-range but but do you not I’m sorry I’ve beh I’ve been behaving but do you not want hogi with with placements no Hog’s going to win oh that that’s the attitude that’s the attitude but but I don’t know I with Scotty in the field the way you’ve been talking about hogi part of me wants to play hogi with with placements at 50 and you can do that at Rivers what what you want to do is BET hogi to win and then bet Scotty to win in the non- hogi market because I assume that’s going to be available this week too it actually took me a second to get your joke because I thought you misspoke but I okay yeah it’s good golf fetting humor Hog’s gonna miss the cup Alex strokes but it’s fine I I’ve saved my money from betting hogi the past month just to dump it all into this tournament just because I had this one circled it’s funny because his course history here sucks but it’s fine let’s go hogy hit some irons make some putts don’t Jason kokra winning here gives me a lot of a lot of faith in Tom hogi cuz remember when we had the money on CRA and he left himself in that [ __ ] bunker it was like oh my God like why the hell did I bet this guy because you know how it’s gonna happen to hogi at some point dude cannot chip to save his life and the wind like just to speak about the wind it’s very early but it looks like there’s an awful lot of win this week that that I did I wasn’t n aware of the wind the wind uh and oh my God it’s been crazy that CRA wind was crazy even the na in here was so freaking fun and last year with gria with the water Trail thing yeah the course Del that was one of the bigger sweats I don’t think I hit I mean there were some underdogs that hit in in elevated like it felt like Keegan and Glover and kittama I didn’t hit any of that [ __ ] last year my Grio at 80 here was probably the the long ODS I hit I hit all of last year I don’t are we just going sort of in anything around this like 4050 or are we yeah let’s let let’s say 3 to 100 so fow is 33 that was the best number that I’ve seen for him so far was that the number that you got yeah 30 33 I was hoping to see an enhanced but it actually um dropped before the enhanced it enhanced so I had to go quickly play the 33 somewhere else it’s part of the mind games you play and I mentioned hold on part of my strategy here and I kind of mentioned it irons and putting are really the two things that I’m concerned about in good accuracy off the tea and again we have seen a lot of veteran players play really well at this course it’s a classical course you see this happen and the one Colonial we did mention was the Sam Burns win when he started like seven back of Scotty going into Sunday and there was just he finished and then there was a lot of weather and like Stallings was Stallings was up by three at one point he gagged it away Sheffer had to battle to get back into the playoff he had a devastating three putt on a power five which kept him out and then Burns made the Putt in his face and that was the end of it so that was a that could end up being reminiscent of what happens this year so a good short game you probably do want which hogi doesn’t have but the guys that I’ve taken for my card this week all kind of fit the same sort of narrative except for one guy who absolutely cannot putt but he can do everything else well and I think it could if it ends up playing difficult he’s the guy that I want to have on the card here at longer rods but they’re all from this range okay so what you’re betting like a Haron in English yep nailed it both of them well you mentioned the profile yeah not that dumb like you you gave the profile you gave the odds range so and and yeah I was I was wondering whether that be because in behind theirs there’s like the very sexy you know baa who’s a flusher uh who who’s already won this year but I I would tend to agree it is probably better set for that profile despite me at the same number looking at at minwu Lee who can’t really hit irons although played an even iron week last week um he’s a guy at uh I don’t know at this number I don’t I don’t I don’t mind and if if if Xander won then maybe out of respect for like Vibes I should bet on dri I could see that I mean the guy’s playing Great Golf and he’s another one who’s lighting it up on the greens so he didn’t actually have a very good iron week at the PGA Championship he just made everything when it it’s like why I’m not going with SEIU here that I just don’t think he can make the putts to win this tournament right now with the way that his putter is going I kind of outlined this on the research show and it’ll be in the newsletter as well that you know putting Trends really do come into play at this course where even last year Grio had gained in five of his previous six starts coming in and just you go back through the past six or seven winners they’ve just been hot on the greens and you know hogi has been hot on the greens that’s why I like him Herman has been English has been as well and I’m betting Bez at 55 too like if if you’re going to beat Scotty at this tournament what’s it going to take well it’s going to take not the best T to Green effort of all time from Scotty you know maybe he only gains 12 Strokes T green or something and he breaks even putting or slightly loses putting in that scenario Bez can gain nine Strokes putting and just beat him because he makes every putt that’s what you’re kind of aiming for this week can’t really disagree with that like you’re trying to it’s like when the division Rivals of the Colts would try to make all their draft picks like how do we beat pton Manning oh this guy will help us beat pton Manning um yes like yeah if you’re picking in this outright it’s like how does Scotty lose well someone literally catches an eclipse how do you catch an eclipse you have to make every putt who can make every putt bet and this is the spot where razza finally got his Grio money back last year and maybe this is the spot where he gets all of his Bez money back this year G’s just in such [ __ ] form and he’s a form player so so I have those four Harmon hogi Bez and English 45 50 55 55 and the one who doesn’t fit this narrative but plays really well in tougher conditions has been excellent T to green and decent putting from the mid-range like 15 to 25 ft just terrible inside 15 ft is Lucas Glover this is a good Glover course 75s 75 of every name you gave English English at 50 seems like 55 English at 55 seems like the one I’d be most tempted to play with are you mentioning Glover man let’s see here Glover eighth in approach 10th in Fairways hit fourth in power four scoring third in Opportunities gained he’s basically just like the worst version of like you look at sheffer’s numbers over the past 24 and Glover’s numbers over the past 24 it just Glovers like 70% of what Scotty does which means you know he’s not going to win and probably beat Scotty but he’s 75 to one and there is a chance that Scotty Doesn’t play I still think there’s a chance he pulls out of it yeah there’s a probably a a very fair chance which would okay let’s say Scotty pulled out is there someone in that like top 10 names who you would I guess Harmon is on the cusp of it that you would want to then bet no not really their current numbers yeah that’s like I’ve already bet like if you’re on the fence with anybody um but yeah there’s no one I don’t like anyone yeah if you weren’t maybe Max Max might be the one that because his number was the highest and I feel like I get the most out of it like if I found out Scotty just with Drew I could blindly fire on Max 22 way more than I’d want to fire on Jordan yeah if you weren’t feeling confident firing at morawa at 14 are you really going to love betting him at 9 to one no yeah um I had really given much thought to Max but I’m not really interested in any part of that as we as we do continue this journey though in like maybe it’s very lazy and you know my teachers would tell you that my parents would probably tell you that my wife would probably tell you that sometimes but I don’t know like Mor and eek root seem very fair numbers this week both of them Ryan Moore Taylor oh Taylor Moore I just don’t think he it’s I maybe this is a good course cuz like him and shank I just did mention Valspar obviously MO is won Valspar shank came second valpar last year lost in a playoff to Grio at this course as well I just don’t feel like he HS enough irons well enough and it’s you can’t really Escape that here you can like big driving at other courses and a great short game and maybe if it plays difficult enough he can do that just he doesn’t pop with his irons enough for me to do that to take his putting over like Keegan at 70 makes way more sense to me than Taylor Moore this week I would say and I’d probably even lean wrote over Taylor Moore and just in that little bubble but um you know what I I totally forgot about Keegan Keegan at 70 is a great number I might just bet that too why not this is and it’s probably embarrassing to tout this or I’m not touting it but to bring this name up at a shorter number than Keegan and you made the joke during the PGA Championship late in the cut sweat as we were just kind of rolling through some things you like I didn’t even know MAV McNeely was here um I don’t know I don’t think he’s that bad of a fit for this week I mean he’s another guy who can’t hit an iron like that’s tough man at a course where you need to have precision and just stick it in close and generate opportunities like yeah I mean boosler can’t do anything right now but he is one who can make every putt that’s that’s definitely on the board with him but yeah I think I might actually bet Keegan at what is he 70 yeah I can bet I can bet a 70 on Keegan why not I bet him last yeah you just just stack in the middle yeah I I don’t know if he’ll make enough putts but the weeks that he does make putts he does make enough putts so maybe that’s good enough I wish this is in Boston I think dri is high as 65 I don’t know that I’ll have the willpower to do something yeah so Keegan let’s add you to the card too there those are my six and then where did you play I don’t know if you told me this off air on there but where did you play hubard at 100 100 with five places you can play him 90 with eight places if you wanted to as well but I thought that was a big number for a guy coming off maybe and maybe he kind of put it all into last week but he’s been playing some good golf right now and this is again the type of course where I would prefer him at rather than a big wide openen PGA Championship like dude hits a ton of Fairways he can get hot with his irons and he can make enough putts to make it work the the only other guy like I’m not going to get there with him but I know that he’s going to be a popular bet and I’m shocked you haven’t brought him up yet is Burger I don’t I don’t know what he he got really hot on the weekend of that subfield where he was popular that’s all a blur at the moment in Myrtle Beach he he played pretty well but he was top 15 at Byron Nelson as well it seems like it’s coming back a little bit for him he won here he was the guy who won coming out of Co he beat Mor cow oh yeah that was that great event the great event yeah beat nean who El who’ he beat Mora and nean yeah he beat Mora and Xander and Bryson missed by a stroke I think I like that you just like paced Neiman as doing well into events where he he didn’t I don’t know if he did or didn’t but he wasn’t I think he was he wasn’t there at the end there or the one of those first events out of Co he was right there he was there at Heritage the week after when when web won that might have been where my head is at um which Hoy guard are both hoyu guards here or just one of them I think it’s just one of them yeah nean was a t t32 with a final round 65 at Colonial in 2020 I mix that up with whatever happened next um don’t really have much more to add in but my my perception watching the event it seemed like he was stalking all the pins the to the top five on the approach leaderboard was feno at plus 9.6 which is crazy number two tied for second was Xander at 7.8 and Cory Connors at 7.8 Lee Hodges was 7.6 and Scotty was 6.6 then Vic hogi Garnett norin and Harman I wasn’t going to bet Harmon initially but I just saw his approach week like his ball striking week I was like oh jeez it’s pretty good nice and you know it’s really going to come into um like the Olympic spots are really about to come into like a hard Focus I think maybe even on the broadcasts over the next few weeks because those are getting tight for the Americans I haven’t looked at a post ppga championship update but I was just happy that Connor’s beat hadwin by considerable margin because they’ve been neck and neck for that second spot in Canada did behind Taylor did he beat him by a significant margin like 30 or 40 places okay but when con Conor came what like t29 it’s not really it’s a negligible difference yeah but when you’re separated by like a tenth of a point the negligable is actually now important I guess but people aren’t aware of how super tight it is between them and not that I should anyone should care outside of of Canada but I um I I do like keeping an eye in for a lot of for a lot of countries hey we got to get detri that win so he can go to Paris you know that’ll be a big thing in Belgium is he not already in like who who else yeah he’s in I mean the PGA win so we can go chase that he can get that Mo before he goes and wins a gold medal
