this right here is my Nemesis and it could be sabotaging your swing too the club head in the takeaway being too far outside the hands pay attention to this this is the thing my Nemesis move this arm watch this get in here I love to keep my arm tucked in when I keep this arm tucked in I go right to the top when I go to the top you see it’s shallow when I start down I keep it tucked in it stays shallow but when I swing straight back look at this I could start with it tucked in but if I start going straight off the path gradually what happens to me is this arm comes out and so you’re going to see two different top of back swing positions this is very important this makes or breaks your swing this is really the make or break it’s not just takeaway here it’s this arm I get to the Top If I’m here I know I’m going to play great gol I can feel it I instinctively can feel the club already mashing through the ball but when I get to the top and this this arm comes out just a little the club gets more vertical and then I’ve got to go under or I pull over it chooses you can’t be afraid of going inside you can’t be afraid of having the club a little bit more back here because being here is a game Cher with your body the second I’m there I feel everything being pulled around the second I’m here I have to consciously pull this around like my body doesn’t want to move nothing was working it felt like a discombobulated mess so what I do when I have this problem I could feel this happening it was subtle I could feel the arm coming out I went under as much as I could and I have to tell myself you got to be okay with the club going in it’s not going to look like you think it is I’m afraid of this cuz I used to do this all the time you can’t be afraid of that cuz this is correct you’re close you you don’t want to be here you you don’t want to be here you want to be with your in line with your body you want the body pulling this around and when the body pulls it around you’re here there’s nothing wrong with that so I get in as much as I can and then when I swing back do I feel my arm physically rotate as much as possible if I don’t then I’m inviting danger I lost my swing a little bit because of this arm because of the takeaway because I wanted to go straight back look at that look at that just right there I wanted to go straight back and then oh boy that’s as bad as it could be that’s as great as it could be I’m going to try and keep it in as best I can that felt good so at the top what I’m hoping for is more of a shallow shaft angle and what I’m hoping to feel on the swing too is more body involved of course I don’t have video aside from my cameraman right now he could verify if this club is shallower it look pretty good he’s verifying shoulders and keep this in and let the takeaway be what it’s going to be let the shoulders dictate the stroke now one of the things you’ll see from the front view here is what do the arms look like in this little takeaway so when I go straight back tendency is this elbow goes away from the target out but I want it in you you have to compensate for this move the reason why Pros the pros who try and keep the club more out like this the reason why they make it work is you’ll see a move at the top you’ll see this and then a shallowing think of Ricky Fowler as a very pronounced example out and then shallow and then he’s here but you don’t have to do that it doesn’t have any value because you have to time that you have to figure out when you’re going to do this I’d rather just say let’s not let’s just start there start here bring it back to takeaway there I am just swing to the top cheat code almost shouldn’t have said that on live TV old takeaway when I forget about this arm I see this this gets too straight gets too wide and the arms too far out but being in in to wind into to win allows me to connect my body that’s a nice strike right there you feel everything working together you feel everything working together yeah see if you can capture that right arm even more right there yeah I’m in and it’s staying in I’m going to freak out here I’m having a seizure with this right arm feels it feels weird cuz I always want to go back to straight back oh it was beautiful I guarantee my swing will come right back after doing this maybe 10 shots like this 10 shot recharge just plug myself into a wall recharge here we are again oh it’s feeling good I’m feeling it come back I got to feel that so bad I shouldn’t be saying this either so we should stop recording but this view is one of the best you go to the top you see the angle of the club it should be like this then boom you’re just right back to the ball but when I go straight back it you see the club gets vertical and this Detachment happens then I got to go into here too much too much work here we are watch my shoulders work here got the arm in I’m just going to hit one oh that was fileted if you want to start body it never works this makes my body work together it’s the glue and now we just keep hitting the ball in the same spot again same spot again what do you think do you think I is there anything else we could cover here cameraman oh yeah that’s a good view this is the real test now he’s putting life in jeopardy I don’t even know if we could do this shot yeah that’s a little set the camera on the tripod here and run away I would put it light fuse and run away yeah light fuse run away I put it right there yeah let’s let’s do it right there let’s see if we can get some angle oh boy my nerves are up face open a little bit more I can’t hit you that was a bad one that’s what I I I felt the pressure that was terrible that was arm out good that you guys saw that let’s see if I don’t have fear of   1. Hi Tom, how are these takeaway principles with irons differentiate from a Driver? I've been having a tough time slicing a good amount on the driver and still working on it

  2. This inside takeaway tip cut 5-6 strokes for me instantly. Like the first range session. Been practicing it for the last couple weeks and we have a ways to go, but I'm playing my best golf yet. Went from a 20 handicap to about a 15 based on my last several rounds

  5. Great video! I just returned from a frustrating session at the range and your video taught me I am getting my take away too much "away" from my body instead of "around" it. Can't wait to get back to the range and get this corrected. Thanks!

  6. I watched a lot of golf this weekend (the PGA, LPGA), and I notice a lot of players put their right hand on the club UNDERNEATH … in the fingers first, then curl their hand onto the top of the club.

    Now I get it … has nothing to do with their grip. They’re setting the inside of their right elbow facing outward

    You’re a Golf GENIUS! 👊🏻

    Now, another issue …
    I watched a Malaska video and he talked about the “levers” of the hands and arms (not so much body) in the downswing.
    So today, I tried SLINGING the club … tried to allow my hands to win the race to the ball before your right shoulder.

    I thought it would feel weak, but I hit some powerful shots.
    Really have to focus on slowing the right shoulder down until AFTER impact.

  7. PGA Championship: Xander Schauffele keeps more weight on his front foot at the TOP than ANYONE in the PGA Champ…..
    I WATCHED every second of all 4 rounds….

    Its obvious, and he doesnt have to hit thousands of balls to keep his "timing up" like all the other weight shifters on Tour do!

    My visual focus on EVERY SWING is/has always been their footwork.

    PS. that being said its really kinda painful to watch Scotties feet…. with the driver. #Yikes

  8. I’m extremely right hand dominant and I need to concentrate taking the club back with very light grip with both Hands. I convince myself to take the club back no higher than shoulder heighth, then everything comes in.

  9. Get your alignment stick under your right armpit, let the stick touch your left biesep, make your swing ,this keeps everything in line,try it for the craic,it works for me👍,another great vlog👌
