thumbnails I’m joking um so here’s what we’re going to do today we’re going to talk about the proposed names for the new Utah team many of them interesting uh we’re going to talk some playoffs and then law brought in some old hockey cards and we’re going to kind of go through some of the old cards and share our memories of just he just put a random collection of cards right here in front of me totally random I only know who’s on top I have not looked at the other cards so we’re going to go through and and discuss our memories of these players if we have them when it’s Friday and you know there’s nothing else to talk about let’s talk about old hockey cars unfortunately these are not they’re not it’s not an unboxing Tech technically because they’re just a bunch of loose cards but that’s team and they are actually taking votes right now uh and I what’s the guy’s name the guy who owns the Ryan Smith Ryan Smith I knew it was something generic about as Utah is Mormon is as you can get Ryan Smith yes Ryan Smith the eth so he tweeted the link uh it’s R it’s Ryan qualtrix quu a l t r i CS sure yeah uh and there is a survey to choose the Utah team name and I guess this is what they’re going with um this is how they’re going to do it I don’t like a lot of this and you can pick up to four of this list uh offered so we’ll just go through them here uh you’ve got the Utah black diamonds which is a reference to skiing which makes some sense and a kiss song Yes hell yeah uh the Utah blast that sounds like a Mountain Dew flavor the Utah blizzard that’s sponsored by Dairy Queen Utah Canyons that’s yeah I know I I have a thought on that I don’t hate that one Utah Caribou I don’t mind that it doesn’t roll very well if you have like a cool like mean looking deer playing hockey as your logo that could be thaty also that’s uh is that a pixie song Caribou yes Caribou it is a pixie song all right the next four I am deleting because they sound like a ’90s rower hockey team freeze Frost Fury and Glaciers suck terrible gone these are these would be like neon and pink uh jerseys and yeah no that’s way too ’90s Utah glaciers I think of the old WCW guy remember that they tried to make they tried to make the Mortal Kombat wrestler yeah yeah Subzero awful uh the Utah Hive are there a lot of bees in Utah I don’t know anything about Utah except Mormons and a Salt Lake that’s all I really know about Utah so I know we had somebody in here from Utah uh early on in the chat I lost a name there but um there it is uh Celio hope I said that right uh is from Utah so help us out with some of these like are there a lot of bees in Utah there’s Utah HC which is Hockey Club which is like a soccer thing yeah I hate that one yeah apparently it’s the Beehive States all right so apparently they have a lot of bees in you I I was on where then that makes sense I don’t hate that one now that like uh I understand that uh there’s a be there’s a hive on the Utah okay I’m learning things so now that I have learned it it is the Beehive State then I don’t mind Hive okay that makes sense sure again you could have a really cool uniform call the hives an angry yeah that could be the goal song maros what an ambassador what was their song The Hives had that one song yeah they got that one song that one they could make it their goal song uh all right I don’t mind Hypes cuz then you can have like a cool yeah mean looking bee playing hockey I like that I’m not I’m done with that although I don’t like the black and yellow you can scenario do it you could do like reverse with the penguins with yellow as the primary color and black is the second pretty close to Vegas though like the Hornets and just go teal and purple there’s already too much teal in all right so we mentioned Utah HC there’s Utah ice again ’90s no Utah Mammoth I like that one don’t mind that uh Utah Mountaineers I don’t hate I don’t hate it I don’t hate it there’s too many car names no that’s West Virginia no I’m not doing that’s that’s far enough away no screw that the Outlaws I like Outlaws yeah Outlaws is cool Huckleberry yeah you a cool Cowboy theme uh yeah the Utah powder no that’s a little on the no I mean yeah yeah literally yeah I mean having a euphemism for cocaine as an NHL hockey team is hidden a little close to home yeah I wouldn’t do that I don’t mind Utah Squall it’s kind of it’s hard to say squ Utah Squall like it makes you screw it up Utah Squall Utah Squall Rhymes I don’t like it I’m adding an L to Utah unintentionally Utah squ yeah I don’t like it I don’t like it uh Utah swarm which is probably another uh yeah is that like a some like character in some universe that I don’t give a [ __ ] about swarm yeah probably uh Utah Venom I guess there’s I asked this a while ago there’s a lot of snakes in Utah apparently I don’t mind that and Utah Yeti I think Yeti is gonna win probably yeah I Utah Yeti is not bad because then when when they ultimately get the sponsor patch on their Jersey from Yeti the cooler company no one’s going to [ __ ] about it yeah same thing with blizzard you can get a Dairy Queen patch and no one’s going to get angry with you do yeah who would get mad about Dairy Queen nobody that’s you did you vote did you vote I did do you remember what your four were I voted for the Caribou okay I voted for the Outlaws the Venom and Yeti okay I went with uh Mammoth black diamonds Yeti and canyons yeah I mean but now I like hi and swarm now now with the information it’s grown on me a little bit yeah those are a little better uh uh like swarm swarm is kind of cool isn’t there a soccer team the Swarm you’re thinking of Sting my friend no I remember I noata and Company I notic thing my first day here I thought there was a swarm swarm sports team to the internet there was only a tool Chicago swarm the leading basketball program in the midwest says their website oh the Greensboro swarm is a g-league team okay uh Northwest Missouri has swarm football the Swarm was a show on uh I think stars or something I don’t know what the hell that was on and Anthony Tony with a good point nobody thinks Outlaws when you think of Utah I don’t when I think of Utah I don’t think of the old west let’s change it up let’s go back to the old west yeah well listen like to me the team name eventually we’re going to get used to it like everybody thought Minnesota Wild was stupid but now nobody it’s not the greatest name but you’re used to it yeah Nashville Predators people were like that’s dumb I mean they’re still a dumb franchise but you’re used to the name uh you know s like Vegas golden kns people were kind of like that’s kind of lame you’re Vegas you need to be the Pit Bosses or the aces or something gambling related and golden knights and now all of a sudden everybody likes golden knights the key is more the logo the colors and the uniform than the name if you’ve got an awesome uniform I I honestly don’t care what your name is and that’s that’s why I think Where the wild have gone wrong the wild have a great color scheme the name is cool I think the logo sucks logo I think the barehead logo like when I see what they were trying to do like in incorporating the stream and the trees and the moon and all that stuff but I just they they incorporate the stream down their leg every April yeah I the best uniforms the wild ever had were those uh was it the Stadium Series or Winter Classic that said like MLS I like the ones their alternates they wore for a while the air freshener uniforms they look like the pine tree air freshener yeah those are cool with the the dark force cream and the cream color those I like uh a couple good comments of people chiming in here Chad uh says I’m a Utah local black diamonds was my vote then we could have blackouts instead of white outs which that is kind of cool actually you should not do that in a hockey game cuz the puck is black oh okay so that’s bad idea you know what you know how I would score every goal I’d flip it up in the air so the goal goes where the hell is it and it lands behind them all right uh and then the other one from Justin clly who said punks as in the old uh SLC Punk movie which I love that film Matthew Lillard probably his greatest performance in my eyes yeah oh there’s so many to choose from I know there’s not many but that’s why nobody was a better Shaggy than Matthew Lillard yeah that’s true that’s true zoinks uh Edward the first threw us five real to say Caribou for me is the coolest by far I caribou’s cool and then you could be then your then your patch could be Caribou Coffee and no one will get angry with there you go there’s so many opportun I think though like sometimes these new teams become a slave to it has to be something that represents our region yeah it doesn’t always have to be that yeah I mean look at Chicago the Cubs the Bears there are no bears in Bulls I haven’t seen any bulls running around I mean the Stockyards that makes a little bit of sense okay sure but like white socks and Blackhawks are is a Native American that’s the only one that kind of ties into that but like or you know uh I mean they don’t always have to to be City related if you got a cool name um um but uh Utah Red Deer from Brian low Super Chat Europeans used to call Elk Red Deer there’s a Red Deer uh in western Canada uh Red Deer Rebels Red Deer Rebels yeah Brandon Hegel sweet uniform too um yeah I mean there’s lots of I jokingly but I would love it uh to be the Utah Johnnies and you put Keo ree’s face as your logo like make the cartoon version like we all have of ourselves here of K Reeves from Point Break love it you can put like uh surfboards on the on the shoulders uh and then you can have like Richard pris Richard Nixon mask Knight first 10,000 fans get rich this wres itself I love it and everybody loves keano Reeves you would sell a million jerseys to non hockey fans just because it has keano Reeves on it I’m in you’re trying to get a bigger audience who better than keano Reeves everybody loves Keo Rees yeah it does feel like it’s going to be Yeti CU I feel like as I’ve gone through people like quote tweeting either the thing to vote or the NHL’s tweet about the team names or whoever is doing it you see a bunch of options but like a lot of people Yeti Yeti yet anybody everybody seems to agree that that one makes some sense I like kind of the singular thing like Kraken and Avalanche and wild and Yeti kind of cool yeah I don’t mind that it’s uniquely hockey I mean Yeti though I think like the yet I think what is the plural of Yeti yetis yei yei Yeti the Utah Sasquatches uh I like it he says squatches which I think it’s even squatches he Squatch he scores uh he shoots he squatches there you go um that just I don’t know that’s you got a vote law what do you think it’s going to be and what do you want it to be you know what I I hadn’t even looked at the uh I don’t know I mean I kind of hate most of them but I I mean I like the option of doing something with bees yeah the hive or the Swarm yeah um the Swarm is the team The Hive is the nickname for the arena yeah that’s that’s what I would do Outlaws is I don’t think that works just because like Utah and Outlaw are two like similar words Utah Outlaw yeah it sounds kind of yeah do kind of like Outlaws cuz then you could do like a pregame show allaha old nights but instead of nights you have like Cowboys shoot each other at Center eyes yeah have like a horse through as an old fan of the usfl the original version there was an Oklahoma and they had a really cool sick logo so I wouldn’t mind that caribou’s cool but yeah I I I don’t really like the yetis I don’t know that’s what’s going to be I just I just annoying yeah whatever I don’t know we’ll see I like only like yet Yeti would only be okay is if opening night you bring back uh the yet as Tony Shani said remember WCW the ye where him and the giant had a very homoerotic bear hug of Hulk Hogan yes they did that was uh there was a lot going on there yes make that the team mascot the yet yet I’m down with that uh by the way report yesterday was that they’re just going to be the Utah hockey team next year they’re going to have generic like pwhl style Jersey stupid it’s dumb it’s not even what what month is it may you can’t [ __ ] brand yourself in four months uh you can but if you want to do it right take your time well here’s the deal though they already know how this vote’s going they can keep it going for a month it’s like any poll we run during the show yeah if we do it for an hour we do it for a week the results aren’t going to change wildly right like when I do March fatness on the I’m fat podcast there’s never like suddenly a run on one thing like unless some the public has seen it and they kind of get their vote on it you can project pretty early yeah so they probably know they probably have a bunch of logos in their pocket but you know it’s going to be fanatic’s first year in the league okay losers yeah I don’t mind going with like Utah HC for the first year um and V generic whatever be a cool Jersey to own someday the unbranded Utah hockey jersey it just says Utah just like the Jersey Jersey um yeah that’d be fun I would get one of those theyd probably sell a ton of them knowing that they’re only going to wear them about the playoffs uh the hurricanes are uh kind of in trouble they are pissing me off I bet that’s why I wanted to start here three nothing series lead for the they’ve been the they’ve outplayed the Rangers all three games yep they are getting goaled part of the reason they’re getting goalie is because almost every one of their shots comes from outside where he can see it and in order to beat uh eigor shurin you got to get traffic to the front of the net and every time they’ve scored it’s been off of a redirect or you know he can’t see the puck if he can see it he’s going to stop it you can have they’ve outshot him ungodly over 100 shots the last two games and 90 of them are from 30t away reminds me a lot of the Hawks coyote Series in 2011 right and the Rangers 201 11 12 12 20122 uh and the Rangers aren’t getting as many shots but they’re getting better quality shots it’s quantity versus quality Rangers are taking they’ve got two overtime wins um and a one-goal win game one they won 43 I’ve I’ve actually won money on uh both game-winning goal scorers nice troch Che and then uh panan I don’t care those guys suck I love tro money though AO gives him a gives him a hit and the Rangers score and well I mean he knows those guys he was on that team a couple years ago but yeah the hurricanes are in trouble I’m still like the Rangers are playing well and they’re a good team but I’m still not 100% sold that they’re this Juggernaut are just going to go 16-0 in the playoffs cuz we’ll get to it in a second they’re likely going to play the Florida Panthers in the in the Conference Finals and the Panthers are different beasts the Panthers only score goals by getting to the dirty areas and going in that they wear you the F out and uh that will be a different series to win but hurricanes bow out quietly here unless there’s a miraculous comeback which I would love uh they’re going to be out in the second round are they the are they the United States Maple Leafs o they’ve had this expect for years and years and years and they get a free pass granted they’ve actually won Playoff rounds but they’ve never gotten they’ve underachieved every year oh it’s the Hurricanes year they got the best coach they’ve got depths and then they get to the second or or the Conference Finals and they P down their leg all this talk about Rod brandamore great coach and he is when get me where’s where’s where at least is a Stanley Cup Final appearance at this point I I cannot argue with you because they’re the sexy pick every year they seem to be like the hipstery pick for people like oh I’m going to go off the beaten path but guess what after you do it for the last seven years it’s not really the sexy hipstery pick anymore and you’re right they haven’t they’re like the Gonzaga of of uh except Gonzaga won at all and you can’t say they’re like at a salary disadvantage or a market disadvantage did they I thought they lost that every time didn’t they I thought they won a national title no I think they lose in the in the final well they made it to the final that’s One Step Beyond The Hurricane asking us I don’t know ask the hockey guys who won a college basketball national championship and Jason says it feels like the canes are missing that star power but here’s the thing like they’ve got stars have you seen right but it’s just because they’re not New York Chicago Boston Toronto they’ve got Stars so they’re not hyped they’ve got snov did you watch him last night he was a just a beast Sebastian AO is great Bren Burns is still very effective you’ve got Brent Burns you’ve got Seth jar Jarvis who’s a star in the making uh you you’ve got got you know you’ve got depth I mean they’re missing peshy that hurts because then you got to put Joe PES uh you got to put uh pwac extraordinaire Tony D’Angelo out there giving up short-handed breakaways at at at at a you know fight cand milor didn’t he he was really into that fight wasn’t he right interesting um I mean he’s already been he’s already been shown on the bench dropping questionable language he’s a penis he is he is the only player in the history of the NHL to be bought out twice yeah and then the Hurricanes brought him back yeah stop stop bringing him back he’s not that good he’s not good he’s not good I don’t like you could deal with a pwac if it’s you know Cory Perry who’s actually like contributes or Evander Kane who is when he’s wants to be is a very good hockey player especially this time of year you could deal with that but he sucks he sucked New York he he’s gone like there’s a reason he keeps being told get out of here and I know it sounds hot taky to be like well no one there’s never any hot seat on Ron brittmore and I don’t like I do think he’s one of the best coaches in the league and no Carolina should not fire him but if he was a coach in Toronto or Boston or New York there would be a lot of questions about his ability to get a team to a championship and again the canes are out playing them they’re not getting the bounces in this series but at some point if you’re going to get swept out or losing five you got to stop qualifying it that you’ve got to find a way and I don’t know nobody’s healthy this time of year right and they’re just not they they haven’t showed up and I’m I don’t know like he’s going to resign and he should Brendon Moore I’m talking about there’s no need to try to get rid of him and overthink it but you’re right like because of the market because of the I don’t know the attention on the team they don’t seem to get the the analysis that other markets would get and the scrutiny that’s good enough for the fan base down there you know maybe it’s like Nashville hey just get us to the playoffs every year and we’re happy well they’ve won a coup four which maybe helps a little bit but it’s thanks to Blackhawks Legend cam W that was also what almost 20 years ago yeah 06 yep I mean it’s so long ago that Rangers head coach Peter Lavette was that coach and Rob brandemore was the captain of that team yeah yeah it’s uh I don’t know it’s it’s going to be interesting though I I can’t see them like two two nothing sure they’re down three nothing man and they could have easily won all three of those games I know but I don’t see I don’t know how you’re coming back from three 0 yeah you got to you got to make the Rangers are good and we I like I know you hate them no they are good we have been I pointing to thumb I have under undersold the Rangers that’s a team that is deep that is a team with clutch you talk about it when you have a goalie that you can depend on and you know he’s going to make the save it allows the team to play more free play they on your top defensive pair yeah and the Rangers are playing that way and the canes know they don’t trust their goal tending situation so and that that’s kind of been their thing for a few years now checkov should have been starting since game one he’s the he’s been their best goalie all year sort of Bloom for Tavo who says no sure or for the rights to Tavo sort Bloom for coov I’ll take that you don’t want to play him I’ll take him he good my first glance my I usually go with my first reaction and I thought it was pretty shitty I mean it was high he was lining him up he was lining him up I mean this is a hit Jamie Ben’s done a million times here’s the thing like when you look at it in real time you’re like oh God that’s dirty but then when you see the replay you realize initial point of contact is his shoulder whether that’s what he was aiming for or not it’s still the initial point of contact and Taves had was leaning forward which made him vulnerable which is part of the reason he went for that hit but he’s made a career on that sort of thing too um I just find it funny that all the people that were screaming about Matthew dumba’s hit on Joel pavelski last year are okay with the Jamie Ben hit on Daves this year funny how that works when it’s your guy doing it it’s clean as can be when it’s your guy on the opposite end it’s dirty I at least think there should have been a two-minute charging penalty given there he clearly saw himing around and made a is it a b line or a v line someone help swarm line it’s a swarm I need the actual answer Bine Bel line he made a beline to Taves knowing he’s like oh man he is lined up and I don’t I don’t look it’s hockey checking is legal and hockey I do think it was a charge I do think that the point of contact was questionable uh the leaving the feet thing to me was more a result of the impact which happens a lot like a guy will hit somebody and they’ll both kind of leave the ice due to the impact of the hit it wasn’t a trouba I’m trying to kill you kind of hit right if you’re going to give penalties for leaving your feet Jacob trouba should not be playing the rest of the series after that nonsense that was unbelievable I I’m so and there’s so and this is you know we were talking about the lack of scrutiny for uh Carolina people go out of their way to make excuses for New York yeah that is a dirt bag play he a dirt bag player yes and what’s frustrating it’s him and Tom Wilson are really really good hockey players that don’t need to do that crap to be and like yeah you talk about we we play on the line and it gives you an edge and I I remember Daniel Carcillo used to talk about that all the time and I get it some guys need that juice to stay engaged to stay involved the juice should be you’re in a second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs go out get it like in the middle of January yeah if you need that to get up for a game just go out throw a big hit in your first shift and be in the game yeah but back to Dallas y if I’m a Dallas Stars fan I am not comfortable right now no no because absolutely not they’re the they were the sexy pick lots of I believe both of you guys you know Mario not here I believe you two I’m the only one on the panel here that did not pick the Stars to win the Stanley Cup it’s not looking great yeah it’s 1-1 but you blew a three nothing lead in game one you nearly blew a 4 nothing third period lead last night that was I can’t believe Jak oer is starting to look a little leaky you got go turning issues on both sides right now but the difference is Colorado has a lot more weapons they showed their depth last night is Jake ottinger the Jeremy shaki of hockey oh that dude made a name for himself Jake ottinger with one amazing playoff series just like Jeremy shaki made a career out of one uh preseason running over of a defensive back I mean there’s more evidence that AER is leaky in the playoffs than there is that he’s a god the playoffs he’s not their problem and look like last night he came up when he had to he’s made some big I used to feel like AER was a guy that can win you a series I’m not feeling that way right now and there were so many moments late in that game we talk about all the time like when we were watching Bad hockey this year like you’ve watched so much hockey for our entire lives and your brain kind of glitches when it doesn’t look the way it’s supposed to there were three or four moments where my brain’s like go go go for Colorado and they weren’t yeah they were right there and I you know I picked Colorado to win in the first round and I was kind of like had to talk myself into it because I Like the Way Winnipeg was playing but there’s something about that team man we saw with the Hawks through the the 10 they don’t let they don’t get flustered by H that switch hit that switch and you find a different level shitty goalie or just score seven yeah how they won the cup two years ago yeah right just out score the goalie we can beat you one to nothing if our goalie is on on point or we’ll beat you six to five if we have to cuz we could do both yeah I don’t know I Colorado looks really good I’m rooting for Dallas is because I like change and I picked them um and I like the way they’ve kind of like rebuilt on the Fly they’ve done a good job of keeping their veterans while bringing in the Robertson and those young players to to keep it effective and keep them strong um but Colorado that win last night for Dallas probably felt more like a relief than a joy it was an escape they escap with that Victory exactly they didn’t earn it they escaped with it but they got it that’s what matters and I’m sure Carolina would love to have one of those if periods were 22 minutes long they probably lose that game yeah usually like five to seven days right oh sorry um do your going to be one of those teams that’s too green not going to be able to get out of the first round but they look good they look confident as hell against the Oilers and for the part of that first game like the Oilers were bringing it it took a comeback for the Canucks they had three and like three something minutes whatever it might be um they look not I’m not going to say they’re cupw worthy they’re not but I’ve just been really impressed with the way Vancouver has come out and said why not why not us why can’t we come out here and prove some people wrong and show people we earned the spot we’re in and Connor says it in the chat Rick toet is a legit coach yep we all laughed at him I’m again raising this a me owning my bad bad dat show bound to happen at some point yeah but uh one I third period um you you still just when you think you could trust steuart Skinner he has that so I’m gonna be interested to see how he plays tonight if he can get that out of his system um that was one of my things about that I respected the most about Corey Crawford he’ll have those those Clunkers yeah but he was able to get past it pretty quickly or even in the course of a game give up a real soft goal and then not let that affect the next save let’s see if steuart Skinner could get that out of his uh get it out of his system and and and come up big tonight because the other end of the ice you know you’ve got an unproven goalie um and I tweeted out during game one like oh my God you’re telling me the Third String Goalie is struggling against the Oilers and doesn’t look as good as he did against the mid Panther weird and then half hour later the Canucks were winning yeah um so it’s going to be a fun series I know Leon dry Sidle is dealing with yeah game time decision game decision I mean he’ll play he yeah that tells me he’s going to play um I mean it’s western Canada it’s an old school rivalry it’s two of the most uh vocal fan bases in social media World should be a lot of fun that first game was fun uh so let’s see you’ve got two two franchises that you know least recently biggest knock on them is they can’t get it done when it counts the most and one of those teams is going to have to get over that you know obviously in the 80s the Oilers got it done almost every year but for the past 10 years it’s all about their their shortcomings and of course the Canucks have had nothing but shortcoming since day one which team is able to uh sh had that narrative I still think it’s going to be the Oilers I think they’re going to come out tonight I think they’re going to come out tonight and and skate the Canucks out of the building this might be one of those prize picks overs suggestions oh yeah uh especially with Demco out it looks like Demco might be able to come back there hasn’t been much of an update in the last couple days but I saw I think it was Tuesday that he could return for the series um by the way I went to the old deserve to win om meter on money Puck from the game one between Vancouver and emont 70% in favor of uh Vancouver deserve to win meter which is interesting if you look at their uh like their Hot Zone a lot of their stuff was right in front of the goal whereas Edmonton was forced outside a little bit more um but it’s going to be a great series high-scoring series what here’s I’ll say the teams that are left all entertain me like yeah I I don’t think there’s a bad conclusion that can be made or a bad Cup Final like I just think whatever shakes out east and west is going to be an awesome Cup Final yeah and the Conference finals remember that either he played uh what this is uh 70 some games with the Red Wings over three years was not quite the player at this point this is actually a pretty good reference like Adam Graves would be 22 is that right yeah in 199 and only had 14 points his first three years his fourth year with the Oilers he had 21 points this guy turned into a stud hockey player the year uh they won the cup 93 94 he scored 52 goals yep prospects take time no matter the era uh he was with the Red Wings and was oh look at this we he was traded to the Oilers with Peter klea Joe Murphy Jeff Sharpes that’s a great name uh for Jimmy Carson and Kevin mclan Jimmy Carson was the like main P would turn out to be the one of the yeah main pieces in the Wayne Gretzky trade and then signed with uh the Rangers as a free agent Graves was a second round pick 22nd overall so in these days a first round pick yes H see this is why I can’t for the Dallas Stars CU I hated the Minnesota North Stars Aaron Bron the lesser of the Bron yeah second best Bron a Aon Bron I have no thoughts on this guy at all I don’t remember him being a player other otherwise he was given a chance to play hockey cuz he was Neil Bron’s brother who’s number 39 748 NHL games who’s this number 39 in the background card uh I don’t know look at it that is Wilkinson sure Wilkinson the dick I assume I hated him yeah uh not a bad career for Aaron Bron 748 games over 12 Seasons 186 goals 515 points yeah he had one two three seasons of over 20 goal backtack 26 goal seasons for the Devils so not a terrible player no more than just Neil’s little brother in our face yeah take that next all right next up Paul Reinhardt who that who is that Sam’s dad I don’t know I got nothing for you on Paul reinard you just picked that card yeah that’s how you found out about D then later it was NHL yeah yep that’s how I found out about a ton of the hockey players this guy wasn’t too shabby 407 career games as a goalie who’s the guy on the Sabers i’ always put in save percentage not great no well but he also played an era where nobody’s save percentage is very good uh 204 wins with an 8881 save percentage so he got some goal support yeah uh Canadians Blues flames and maple leafes doesn’t appear that he was ever really a starter though like we have these random connections of these random guys like it’s reinhardt’s Dad now card voted the number one late round Blackhawks Draft pick on yesterday’s show that’s fun Nate Nate uh says they sell packs of these right now at the gunzo I’m almost out of 90s hockey cards for my Tik Tok account so we may have to do some business oh yeah you haven’t done that in a while I haven’t done that in a while I still have maybe 15 packs left from that stat I’m going to start doing that again uh now it’s offseason I have time I’m going to start doing that maybe I’ll do some open some packs this weekend I like the double feature too on the upper deck where there’s another picture on the back yeah very cool yeah great composition on that that the cover of that card the way it’s kind of angled across there but yeah yeah they Upper Deck did a always do an awesome job beautiful it’s very hard to adjust when looking at the screen everything’s backwards yeah sure but yeah they Upper Deck does it right I mean that’s fun I don’t know I wish card collecting would come back my daughter got it for a while we were doing the sticker books the MLB sticker books collecting is still a big thing but it’s just like it’s all these people want these ridiculous 101 cards and they want you know it’s all let’s open them up on Twitch and go crazy when we get this super rare card that we bought in this $1,700 box of cards it’s not just there’s very few kids out there that buy cards to get their favorite player and trade with their friends and like do all put them in in team pages and their Trapper Keeper like I did as a kid and and yeah or use him as spokes in your bicycle you know oh Phil Bradley to the bike he goes Seattle Mariner I remember him for sure well that was it was what what was the year of the tops that was like the wood grain 87 that was so oversold everyone’s like yeah we still got packs of those here yeah they’re just sitting there that’s my favorite card ever though the 87 they were very cool but they that’s I think that must have been the peak of card collecting yeah I had everybody had them I had uh 85 86 87 88 those four years every year for Christmas I got the complete set wait 85 80 80 yeah that’s basically my same car so I had like the whole complete set you you’d be able to buy it after the season you’d be able to get the full set probably they must have been sold at Kmart because that’s the only place my parents went to back then um but that was one of my Christmas presents every year for for four or five years was the tops baseball cards and then Upper Deck came out and I never wanted a pack of tops again I mean I had Don Russ fle oh Don Ross fman the stman youll [ __ ] oh no uh then there was the Canadian version of Don Ross Leaf yeah um or or was or was Don Ross technically the American version of leaf I think it’s that way pret pret was more football I had I had I had a French uh I think it might a 9192 French season pack of pro yeah I think I’ve got a couple of those left in my stash uh yeah the L the L and H yeah H and tanver says there’s a store opening uh or open in Vancouver there’s stores and malls just for card trading and I will say like anecdotally I feel like I’ve seen more card shops lately and I’ve noticed them opening I know a lot of people are collecting like funkos and those mcfarlands like there’s a lot of other things to collect now but I don’t know hopefully it’s having a little bit of rebirth and we were talking before the show reminiscing about those awesome and and if you’re younger you won’t remember this but 7-Eleven you would a Slurpee and on the bottom of the cup there was like a little Tab and you it was like a false bottom and you pull the tab off and you would get a little disc like a coin a hologram coin of a baseball player I remember those they were awesome I remember remember sports flicks yeah that were the cars that like had motion they moved yeah law had a markc Messier hologram sticker but the Hologram is sort of faded uh it’s lost its uh Nate said they came out with Pro Set Platinum to compete with Upper Deck I remember tops came out with Stadium Club cards to with Upper Deck uh it was tops that still looks cool though we just couldn’t tell who it was I that would have been on the binder outside of my card binder I all the stickers went on the outside of my cuz uh Fleer used to give you a sticker with every package Upper Deck when they first came out gave you the Hologram logos um yeah but top Stadium Club if I don’t remember those those were the ones that that came on the Kodak paper those were like three bucks a pack and it was like oh my God I’m going to go broke premium yeah uh Nate said we all supposed to be millionaires by now from our 90s cards collections that was uh beanie babies too I I paid $150 as a college student cuz I found the Princess Diana beanie baby and my mom was collecting them worthless I got one from my mom too she was big into it the the Princess Diana one purple with a white flower I remember I got it at a flea market so it probably wasn’t even the real one weird to have like a radiator is that right I got to stop every show I say something I regret I swear to God it’s like on I got I need the old mic cond them we might get Cricket back in the card tragedy plus time equals comedy yeah all right I’m inspired I’m going to go home and open up a bunch of cards on my Tik Tok so yeah remembering some guys might be a new like a Friday I love it yeah um I can bring in a bunch of my old I I can bring in like stuff from the ones uh I’ll bring in we I this guy when I was working at the score this this kindly old man his name was Hoy would always call in but he was always too shy to go on the air but we would just chat about hockey chat about life and uh he’s actually uh near the Homewood area and he’s in Hospice right now but a couple months ago he like dropped off all of his hockey cards all in a binder they’re pristine I’m it’s like I don’t know to do with these but I’m just going to keep them and I’m just going to look at them cuz I think that’s what he wants me to do with them um they’re very cool maybe I’ll bring them in one day and we can go through it but okay officially many ones yeah all right remembering some guys I love it TM you got to throw the trademark on there yeah no one’s no one’s ever said that ah good stuff all right we’re back Monday I think it’s just me and Greg
