Lots of good, lots of bad’: Hadwin on his up-and-down third round

Adam Hadwin chats with TSN’s Bob Weeks about shooting even par in the third round at the PGA Championship, what parts of the game he needs to work on, the course conditions, and what happened with the viral post and the spectator that jumped into the water to retrieve his club.

all right Adam a little bit of a up and down round today how would you put it together I summed it up pretty good there uh lots of good lots of bad um it kind of sums up the whole week to be honest I just um I felt like these last couple days I’ve been in good position to play well and post a good score um and just not taking advantage of some opportunities um and then making just a couple sloppy Bogies as well is it one particular part of your game or is it just kind of the every hole by hole there’s something different shows up yeah it’s a little bit Hole by hole um you know uh that first day I made everything I feel like I haven’t made a whole lot these next two days I’ve hit the ball better though I’ve hit more greens um felt like I hit a few more Fairways as well like I said I’ve I’m in position to do something good it’s just um just not taking advantage of it what what’s the course playing like out there is it very different from the day one when it was pretty soft no I don’t think so I think it’s very similar um uh yeah it’s still very very receptive um you know you can attack pins you can be aggressive um there’s uh no slope that you should be afraid of flying over or anything you’re certainly not going to bounce over a green here so um as you continue to see low scores are out there obviously with the length and um them letting the rough grow if if you hit it well you’ll have chances if not you’re still scrambling a little bit and um but I still think probably two three unders par right now it sounds like you have a low round in there they’re just kind of waiting to get out is that a good assessment and maybe something you’re looking for tomorrow I hope so yeah um like I said I I felt like I’ve hit it a little bit better last couple days and my short game still been really good uh when I have missed the green and um yeah every time it kind of is ready to start getting that train moving I just I do something silly miss a putt and kind of all momentum’s killed I just can’t can’t get it back before we let you go we have to ask you about a post that was on social media about somebody getting into the water to get a club out of that can you tell us that story what happened there um well I was an idiot and um was not pleased with a couple golf shots there on seven and um let the club slip and you could see it um you could see the butt end of it sticking out and so at the end of the round there I went back out I had full intentions of trying to get it myself I thought that it was close enough that I could wait in um you know five six feet and kind of reach out with the club and kind of bring it in um but upon further inspection it looked like it dropped off a lot quicker and I was a little further out there than I would have been uh possible and um there was uh somebody working out there that uh volunteered his Services um and uh you know funny the guys actually had a bit of a laugh that I was had even come back out and they were planning on going in regardless of whether I came back out or not so um I was very thankful three iron around this place is a hot commodity so um it came in handy today all right good luck on Sunday with that thanks Bob
