F1 returned to Ima after a Year’s break and with Gusty conditions combined with a bit of ring rust there was plenty of action in the first of three scheduled practice sessions Carlos SS was forced to cut the chicane at turn 14 and even defending champ Max Sten wasn’t immune to the odd trip off track the Dutchman using all of his skill to prevent a full spin of the rb2 he also went off turn 12 in what was a bit of a scrappy session for Red Bull turn 17 proved problematic for a few Oscar piastri put a couple of Wheels into the gravel there as did Logan Sergeant in the Williams and V carbs Yuki Coda also flirted with the margins Daniel Ricardo went full beam across the Pebbles the Honeybadger spraying Stones as he fought to control his ride George Russell bounced over the curbs at turn three the Britain with a decent save to keep the car on track however Silver Arrow teammate Lewis Hamilton fared worse at turn 12 12 the seven time world champion grinding over track limits and spinning off the circuit Williams suffered another set back in their already Troublesome year Alex alin’s car lost power the tie driver who this week committed himself to The Grove team until at least 2026 ground to a halt after 20 minutes of running bringing out the red flags kicks alas Joe guu might have thought he was back at Melbourne estan okon scored Alpine’s first point last time out and has been pleased with the French team’s recent progress however like Joe his first exploratory runs were a little uncomfortable the ride on the straight ninth is hitting the the plank a lot like I’m jumping the guys is taking off similar bouncing issues for teammate Pierre gazley who is wearing a special Aon Center tribute helmet marking the 30th anniversary of that Dreadful weekend which saw the death of both Rand ratzenberger and the three-time world champion H have brought upgrades to one of their cars this weekend the new kit was given to Nico hulkenberg who’s never raced at imer with any of his previous teams the other car kept Faith with the Bahrain spec for comparison however olle bman sat in for Kevin Magnuson this time out and finished p15 for his efforts the toosi were pleased to see a Ferrari top of the timing tables M sh Clair best of anyone with a time of 1 minute 16 990 George Russell was P2 followed by Carlos SE Sergio Perez Max stappen Yuki Coda and Lewis Hamilton Miami Victor Lando Norris was P ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar pastri and Fernando Alonzo rounds out the top 10 p 11 for Pierre gazley and he was ahead of Lance stroll Daniel Ricardo estan okon olle bman vry botas Joe guu Logan Sergeant Alex Elvin and Nico hulkenberg [Music]
