rivalry between the St Peters Eagles and the St Joseph C Vikings working on the camera today a veteran of Technology Chin’s bookie joining us once again a fan favorite and I’ll be doing play byplay eighth is Chris vona and Ninth number 13 Kelvin Rodriguez in right field but instead it’s going to be the visiting St Joseph C Vikings who will lead us off at the dish Ray why don’t you give us their starting lineup all right for the Vikings leading off Michael maresi be playing right field hitting second is the catcher Anthony d d Petro excuse me hitting third the hitter Nick zarski at the Hot Corner third base and cleaning up be frank s hitting fifth John Gano he’ll be playing first base hitting sixth Anthony malanin and he’ll be playing short stop hitting seventh number 34 Anthony calano he is the pitcher and the ace for the Vikings hitting eighth and excuse me as I cannot read my own handwriting is number 26 Gerard Malino he’s playing Left Field and hitting eighth and batting ninth is number n excuse me number three Randy Rivera he’ll be play second base here dny well we’ll get through it together as we welcome you to the broadcast boots somebody that’s rarely seen on camera but pen here all right so it looks like the pitcher is LaVine so LaVine on the hill is going to be one and one and there is a Little Blooper going into shallow right field and it dumps in for a hit the Vikings are in business one man on the pond and and nobody out the leadoff Runner gets on couldn’t have placed it any better just put Bat on Ball just out of the reach of villona at second base and as you see there early on Danny LaVine in no rush I mean I’m sorry in in a little bit of a rush there on the mound here gets to the mound gets set get ready to throw love to see it little bit of a rush is right well it’s going to be the two Hall hitter and Anthony Depetro at the plate the Southpaw looks at a high strike called 0 and one throwing some gas early on letting that arm fly early on he’s in the zone early I think there’s birds like in the AC unit above us as the runner takes off rever my god oh I got very nervous that ball nearly took out all of our equipment devastating we will send it back in a minute oh my goodness that was uh okay bro my life flashed before my eyes douge elwell’s got really good reflexes but all of us up here Doug would have nailed it a few other people that have been in this booth would have Elliot wil would have sned with one hand he’s got some hands but no I was just nervous yeah that’s tough well that okay we Liv through it yeah no barely I’m breathing out of a brown paper bag up here it’s only the top of the First with a runner leading off first base and nobody out J Petro will try and do some damage here as he looks at a ball high again back to back balls going to be early on here going have to look to find that strik on the pressure you know playoff game you know major Stadium atmosphere so maybe a little nerves early on the pitcher gets the sign and timeout called at home plate by the Umpire so the the did the batter request time out the you notice the Umpire on his own I don’t know curious you know it’s interesting right because normally we sit like five feet yes I’m having a hard time myself here this is a little adjustment we’ll get I haven’t done baseball in a while either great to be back in the baseball field the pitch is high I think that’s a Full Count it’s three balls for sure and one almost killed us so it’s at least three in one I’m not sure what happened when as I was collecting my breath the bookie has it at three and two love to see somebody paying attention the bookie gave me signal this he was the catcher that was fantastic all right so we assume it’s a 3-2 here’s the payoff pitch as a runner takes off for second base it’s a high skying foul ball that reach is the seats and we’ll do it all again that got out there that you know landed kind of in The Concourse up there past the last section of the 100 Levels here at uh is this Staten Island was this Hawk stadi is this what’s the name of the building Dan well I you know I se Hawk Stadium I don’t well it’s the fairy Hawk so strike one against all right all right here’s the 3-2 with a runner on first the runner takes off and this is fouled left side third baseman gives it a look and it goes into the Eagles Dugout will do it again so Anthony Depetro at the plate and battling yeah LaVine depetra early on here with a matchup they have to giv up a little a little bleeder into the Outfield with the first at bat this has been quite the grinder here we’ll see who wins this matchup most I think I’m going blind I’m having a hard time seeing everything are we gonna have lights in this booth when it goes dark then Michael Mari leads off first base his favorite snack food is Devil Dogs good call good call as he gets back to first base safely great late night snack but you could punish those anytime of day I mean you know nothing wrong with a Diet Coke and a couple Devil Dogs I tell you H I don’t think so the 3-2 is fouled up out of play this one looks like it’ll reach the seats again oh Ray we are like in danger this is quite yet bad I we’re going to go 32 at least it’s got to be at least the eighth pitch of the at bad here up coming bookie I’ll pay you an extra $3 if you can follow foul balls just I don’t think we need the after a tough at bat so good to see him find the strike zone early on certainly needed to find the strike zone there to get Mr momentum back on his side with two Runners on and no outs top of the without giving up a run there was huge now we’ll see if the offense can get going here against the ace is what I’m told for the Vikings now we told we I’m not as informed as I usually am because Danny we have a lot of chance to do a lot of research for this but I am told that the pitcher for the Vikings and I’m getting in front of me the pitcher Anthony calano is the Ace so we’re looking at the best they have to offer here for the Vikings on the hill yes that’s right Anthony calano is the Ace of this Squad um his favorite food is steak favorite movie is Friday Night Lights solid backto back beauty of stat in Island right you know I’m sure kids on both teams of buddies and play different travel bowl or whatever throughout the way so great to hear that love it the game well back to the action this ball is laced in the left field and that is a beautiful play made out there by the Fielder tracked it perfectly one away good piece of hitting too put the bat on the ball but hit it right going to be one looks like the Umpire has got himself quite the strike zone this evening he certainly knows what he wants to call and doesn’t A1 is fouled off I’m sorry the one oh is fouled off one one that count I am personally a little disappointed that my guy Wally Richard is not behind the plate right now the best umpire we have here in Stand L with all due respect to the crew out here today playing football we were there uh broadcast the football game live when he injured himself and had to go through a m you know quick recovery process he’s can’t believe he’s back here on the diamond Danny the way we saw him that day six uh six game back after the injury as he looks at strike three called right down Broadway uh the fact that he can walk back to that Dugout is still a win in my book so great to see that he in uniform and you see the stuff here for the ace huh Dan for the um for the Vikings here reason he is the Ace he is out there throwing some smoke well we are two outs and here’s the three hole Banner at the plate so we’re going to throw it back at some point but we have the ball that was fouled back and almost killed us the bookie went and retrieved it during the break so we have uh we I like a little p maybe we can auction that off for next to nothing and give it to charity as that is is a ball high we please do that I’m actually fascinated to see what it would draw I we have to at least get to 100 bucks I someone drunk out there would just throw 100 bucks for it I would think if it actually hurt and never collect it no yeah oh that ball missing inside Ace of this pitching staff and here in the bottom of the second inning he’s finding his Groove he comes with the wind up and the pitch and yeah he’s just painting Corners here then I mean it seems like it’s the same spot location wise pitch after pitch hitting that outside part of the plate putting the Batters in a hole the 01 misses outside so that seems to be the strategy from him not a lot of pitches over the inside part of the plate the pitch there’s that announcers Jinx comes over the inside part of the plate and just misses St Peters looks to be number 21 it’s Anthony macaloo with the plate he’s crowding the plate Danny so no wonder you know looking to attack on the outside of the plate the pitch missing high so you wonder now all these pitches away will they try and bust him inside at some point during this at bat now the Umpire is given the okay so that wasn’t for the count a pitch missing and there’s a walk so any way you can get it the Eagles will take it as they’ve got a run on and two outs here in the bottom of the second inning and now 33 coming to the plate that’s for excuse me wrong team as Grimaldi the catcher here so big at B for Grimaldi with a chance to put some runs on the boy for the eagles with duck on the pond call that one outside Danny so tight one the rough call there for the pitcher he wanted that one for sure looks to be in the same spot as a lot of ones on the outside corner as well Grimaldi at the dish his favorite hobby outside of baseball is golf as a runner takes off for second and is in there safely with his stolen base yeah no doubt about that one great throw down though after uh a quick Jump by the runner there took off and we got ourselves a runner and scoring position here for the Eagles oh I got to tell you this to give me a panic attack don’t tell me about the P that’s just yeah you know the ma sometimes can make you depressed as you get older but it’s great to see the kids keeping Traditions alive as it’s he’s going to get a chance to hit with the season on the line so we have no clue what’s Happening Here both managers are on the eagle side of the diamond discussing something no idea what it could possibly be at this point well you see coach Cruz out there he’s getting his money’s worth as Li is how his name is pronounced Ray Li coach Ortiz getting his money’s worth with the Umpire as he strolls back to the Vikings Dugout here all right so trying to figure out what going on here the umpires are going to take their positions back and Lia and I got to give a shout out to Marty up against the ropes seemingly the whole game battling out in a pitcher duel now have the winning run just 90 ft away here as we have a Danny wait delay in the game Danny wait till you hear this okay so my sources is to tell my source being Wally Richards one the one of the good guys in the industry right looks like something with the lineups or substitutions there’s a kid with the iPad so the lineups are kept via iPad now you see right now Danny the kid behind home plate has an iPad out so there no longer is a book apparently in high school baseball there’s an iPad inv I this is what the iPad’s telling them on the field right Mato went up to bat for the Eagles and he was already out of the game it was spotted by the Vikings it appears and that is what is taking place on the diamond right now as Rays opened up the snacks he feels it’s uh it’s worthy at this moment well you were talking thought I had a little more no you know you know that everybody at home can hear everything in the microphone so we had to address the fact that you open snacks because Well w Wally Richard is confused here at home and he’s our Gene testator of the baseball version um so still there’s an iPad out there like we said we’re old Danny my goodness there’s an iPad involved now in baseball games we need a selfie taking selfies I love it where you at try not to drop my phone on the window oh if nothing else a good selfie look at the nobody cares Sports Instagram page or my own Ray pal nobody cares sports or Ray Palama at nobody cares Sports something along those lines I’m sure you’ll find you’ll find them I will don’t check it very often but now what are you confused about right well we don’t know what happen people there was the well like I said it was a it was um a batter went up that has already been substituted they trying to say the Eagles just put somebody up who was already sub out of the game that’s what happened really I think so that was pretty Brazen I goodness they may be trying to get an out you know there’s one out here certainly would be an out you know so that would that would make it two outs with a runner on third as opposed to one out now it looks as though the same pitcher will be in the game here for the Vikings so hasn’t been a pitching change no no this is this is a clerical thing umpires are going to huddle up again and the pressure on the umpires now it’s not certain of the discussion of what they’re trying to figure out but you know they don’t have any replays of any kind they’re basically going up their own memories and the arguments from both coaches seems like the discussion is coming more from the eagle side seem like the have kind of settled in and you know going to accept the fate of whatever it is but after the umpires make a decision I wouldn’t be surprised to see if either one of these manages go George Brad on somebody because someone’s going to be upset people are texting me furiously sponsors are asking what’s happening uh obviously we’re we’re a three-man crew here at the stadium and we don’t have any communication on the field so we’re doing our best to try and figure out you know what the umpires are saying but bookie you could zoom in a little bit on those two umpires is having a intellectual conversation down there on third base line and they realized that this is a critical moment in the game uh with a runner on the corner running run tying run having just scored and it appears that the Eagles sent somebody up into the Batters box that was already substituted out of the game now if that is you know the happen stance here that stopped the game I don’t see that being as something that really takes this much time to figure out I’m sure it’s just a black and white Rule and figure it out you go back to play this seems a little bit more complicated as I could see the head coach of the St Peters Eagles on his cell phone now and I’m wondering is is there is there a call to the league taking place here is this deal or no deal is he calling the banker I don’t know what’s happening here this is great though the cell phones iPads this is the world has changed my goodness is he going to challenge can they bring us can they get us involved can they break us they calling New York what’s what’s taking place here this should be Fant they should get us involved somehow ask us our opinion and as we mentioned many times we’re about 70 ft away hovered above home plate and have no access to the field so once we figure out exactly what this delay is we’ll forward the information to you but for those of you that are home asking is there a pitching change taking place no there is not a pitching change taking place it is the same pitcher for the Vikings Anthony Catalano number 34 the senior continues to be on the hump for the Vikings so nothing changing there there’s still going to be a runner on third base for the Eagles the question will be will there be one out or will there be two outs when we return right all right so Danny so like you said so the Eagles were going to take L out of the game they were going to pinch hit for him but then they changed their minds and decided to no longer pinch hit for him but the Vikings are saying that once the pinch hitter was announced you can you can’t pull him back and I guess what they’re deciding now is whether or not they’re going to pull him back so the Eagles elected to stick with L to pitch as well as to hit but the Vikings are saying that the pitch this the pinch hitter was already announcing he has to stay in the game so we’re going to see how that develops my goodness so Wally Richard tell the SE coach probably on the phone with the commissioner of the chsaa and now the Umpire maybe it looks like maybe on the phone with him as well so you know if nothing else the the importance of the game Danny despite the time delay they’re doing what they can to get the call right at that part you got to give crudos to both teams and the umpires despite the um lengthy delay here slowing the game down you got to worry number one here I don’t know how many pitches uh catalano’s thrown tonight but a nice 20 minute delay is certainly not advantageous to his right arm that’s for sure he’s actually going to head over to the dug ey now looking want to get a beverage or something he’s calling that something out of the Dugout here well what’s taking place is as we’re actually getting inside information from within the organizations the Vikings want weda out for pitching the Eagles want him in and they’re arguing that the rule should be that he should be able to stay in the game the Vikings are arguing against a technicality that one of the Eagles players should be removed from the game so it it would appear at this specific Moment In Time bottom of the 7th lots of drama that the staff on the field for whatever reasons can’t seem to get this call right on their own it happens and they’re seeking outside help from the powers that be that tend to be a little bit up the totem pulse so in this particular instance they be be reaching out to the league the head of umpires would be the one to ultimately make this decision now it’s it’s a big game of telephone though Ray I mean you you have to relay to somebody what’s taking place clearly effectively and hope that they can draw to a cohesive conclusion that isn’t I guess dramatic in any way right I mean well I mean there’s no subed I mean it looks like there’s a rule somewhere you know baseball has um there’s a rule for every situation this can’t be the first time this has happened so it’s a matter of getting the rule right now why it’s taking so long to get the rule right that baffles my mind because we know the situation you know what happened what’s the rule and execute it I’m getting text messages from both sides of this um as far as what the rule is so I am not sure no and and and believe me if if we’re unsure well the umpires are getting it from both sides on the field and it’s just a crucial call it’s a critical call and when you watch a game on TV usually it’s it’s a professional game it’s a D1 game and there are feeds connected and there’s 12 different people out there there’s two umpires out there there’s three people up here on the broadcast Booth really it’s a small crew across the board and in this particular instance it’s obvious that the two irees don’t feel comfortable making the call themselves right like in the major leagues you’ll see the the the manager will wait by The Dugout steps for the pinch hitter to be announced and once he’s announced then he will come out and take him out so the Eagles from what we’re hearing is that the Eagles definitely announced there would be a pinch hitter and then changed their minds and elected to send L to the plate so they didn’t hit fora and it was his turn to bat can you change your mind is the question and I don’t know the answer need to you with a bookie but there’s got to be someone around here who does and it should not take this long that she well get somebody on the horn that’s that cookie take a step back will you we’re turning around here tonight anyway so for his own safety and his own health that is the right decision for the Vikings as far as this baseball game goes we’ll see how um and I can’t tell is at number one on the mound if was a scoreboard operator for that game I’ll beit it was a division one baseball game Ray uh maybe the scoreboard operator isn’t in the budget to do backto back games uh St Peter’s got enough budget to hire a scoreboard oper all right again I think St Peters catching Strays here for no reason ah they’re the home team you got to provide someone to run the scoreboard I don’t think it’s that I don’t think it’s an unrealistic request well tough to have fans as is and needless to say we just lost at least one more back to the action on the field it is the top of the seventh the Eagles the home team here at this beautiful ballpark the home of the independent baseball team the Staten Island fery Hawks this their home field and they’re looking to close this playoff game out here on the opening
