Championship this week coverage on ESPN plus ESPN our friends at CBS and um we’ve been out there on the ground already yeah little Recon putting some work in I’ll be I’ll tell you he put some work in Gordo bang bang double Hammer coming we owed folks a double Hammer from the Masters we thought maybe we’d have this up and going pre-masters didn’t happen it did win though about that so I’m walking around the grounds at Augusta National SVP we getting a double Hammer people are like jonesen like junkies little little Intel I got from our guy Gordo spe top 20 I’m like spe top 20 okay like I think he’s no phones at Augusta but I think he was ready to fire immediately didn’t that did not cash but there was a change Gordo changed the official double Hammer wow at austa same guy later in the week BP double Hammer no good buddy like actually changed it was a change safe so the good news this time is straight from the horse’s mouth yeah our guy Gordo is coming live and direct from bhalla with a double Hammer we’ve got obvious uh obvious playoff stuff to discuss we’ll get to that yep but we are sitting here in Louisville yeah and we’re taping on a Monday weather is great on a Monday it appears there’s biblical monsoons to come and animals pairing up 2 by two things of that nature it doesn’t sound great for Tuesday it doesn’t sound great perhaps for Friday we’ll figure it out yeah when the when they get to the cut these are not questions we have the answers to uh in the short term we can we can tell you this this is a proper Big Boy major championship venue you’ve been saying and I think for our listeners and viewers that they’ve learned that you you have come to love major championship golf as much as anything it’s my favorite Pro Sport why having the access that we have today going out on the course and walking with like you get to see I get to see something I never knew about I didn’t play golf when I was young I I don’t I don’t golf but the mental aspect and then seeing the course and what it brings to the table and just no one what’s at stake man like these guys tiger chain it you are based on how many majors you win that’s true like it’s that’s just the norm and to me what’s at stake and everybody has their own way of going about things uh you have guys that have experience you guys have had you have guys that have had success and then you have guys that just can’t get there well it’s hard it’s hard to win it’s hard to win look at Xander Schley look at Xander last week at Quail Hollow qu Hollow will host next year’s PJ Championship Charlotte what’s up coming in hot uh uh he and Xander the first couple of two three days is off to a fairly big lead Here Comes Rory shoulders bopping had the popping the step you got the Bob and you get the Bob and Rory have fun he won here he’s won four times a Quail Hollow it’s hard to win Xander trying to knock the door down and win in any event at the moment he’s been close all year but to finally win in a major and there’s a ton of dudes that have won them that’s the thing like when you like when you get you get here to have the odds that are as short as like shefflers are crazy but he’s in that rarified air where if he wins again this week you go well yeah sure why wouldn’t he but they’re they’re incredibly difficult to win and when you become a forever player when you can win one of these which is why like my guy Andy North our guy Curtis Strange they both won a couple us opens it’s just hard as to win one man yeah to do it twice like you got to have a gear that very few have yep and we walked with a guy today that’s one five well on this Monday morning we you know you just stroll out to the range and you see who’s there and like hey can we take a walk with you and we I mean these are guys we’ve known I’ve known these guys a long time Gary Woodland one of the all-time great dudes in the world Gary’s feeling better getting better which is great news after the the the scare with the surgery has lesion on his brain you got Brooks keco who’s just coming off a wind on the live golf and then you got DJ who you just look at the guy and you’re like if I had the first pick in a draft for just whatever guy like I always said he walks like a panther he doesn’t what’s the Jay-Z line I walk like a ball player wherever you are you are who you are player that’s that’s that’s DJ and we he’s won a couple Gary won the US Open at uh at Pebble Beach and obviously Brooks has got a pot full of them so you got dudes that know how to do it but and Jeff Darlington our buddy uh who does a great job covering the NFL and and is with us covering golf was with us at the Masters I think he couldn’t figure out what was going on like afterwards he was like we’re just walking around and talking about the playoffs and football I’m like yeah that’s what it is like what are we going to be like hey sir uh what do you you like a mashy Niblick here what do you like here like there’s a certain amount of Intel little Mount of a little Recon but I think that and I’m not saying like we’re the we’re Choice A1 or 1A or whatever for to to walk with a practice round but you see Brooks he’s he’s ready to talk his Panthers man yeah he’s fired up to talk Panthers coming back back from down two nothing in game four to win um I think he got back direct from the uh from the event overseas on live and went right to the game y uh at home and we’re obviously hardwired to talk about that stuff so we hopefully we can be decent company and then hopefully we can ask a few questions and not get in the way but it really is I it’s so instructive to to to see how they approach the holes where like there’s a short Par Four it’s the fourth MH and it was just really interesting to see the the the kka idea of well if they move the te’s up where you could have a go at it as a short part 4 I don’t want to do this because here’s why and he’s taking you through the reasons why whereas DJ’s like no it’s Woodland Woodland’s like I’m firing at it like two guys two totally different totally different ideas and that’s very helpful if you’re the guy that’s going to sit there for hours talking about you know the golf ESPN plus and ESPN with the coverage um and we typically Monday Tuesday Wednesday we’ll go out and wander with with these guys just to cuz each guy’s got his own sort of ideas and it helps give you a little bit of a sense of uh of the approach that they’re going to take trying to figure out how to get to Sunday night and that’s why this place is awesome cuz there’s a lot of different approaches you could take uh seven you got the left Fairway you got the right Fairway a par five with with a choice off the six how far do you want to go down the Fairway to get it over uh hit it over where you have to get to over on the green I think it’s absolutely fascinating how this is going to play out there are got you mentioned Rory he’s had success here y um and and it’s just it’s really really cool to see because I think for the first time in a while at least you know I’ve been to two uh you know JT comes back and just hangs in the mix uh down in Tulsa and gets it done last year Kea you know after not playing well in that last day of the Masters comes right back to the next major and says I’m the best player here come catch me and nobody could and I just you talk about the guys that have won this but so many guys have been that close and that strive to keep getting there that’s that’s what I love about this and this course is going to bring all of that into account because you got long hitters that are going to go about their business you got your iron guys that are going to go do it the way they want to do but the biggest thing possible too you got to be able to putt we know that and that’s what it’s going to come down to but how close are your putts going to be that’s where I think those people off the te are going to think of a little bit different about their approach it’s a big ballpark you’re going to have everybody that’s that that’s what everybody’s talking about you’re going to have to be able to move it I mean that’s the modern game like there’s not a lot of folks that are you know 220 off the te um but I mean it’s there goes will zures ball hitter ball Striker he’s a ball Striker’s ball Striker pretty good would you rather be a shot maker or a ball Striker uh shot maker shot maker shout out to our guy Sean Salsbury I was always our it was philosophical conversation shot maker ball Striker what do you want to be I you what you got to be a good ball Striker to be a shot maker though I think and and to amplify things the last guy to his last major Rory wins last week his last major he won here like that’s everything you want going into a major I was thinking it’s 10 years ago years 10 years ago I’m like where was I in August 2014 where were you in Florida my daughter who’s 10 now is one and like looking at pictures I was like wow I do remember that now and that’s 10 years and you know he’s the talk every major is he going to get another one another one 10 years years hard to win him man I think it’s been long for us think about what he’s going through but he’s coming in red hot we haven’t said the name Scotty Sheffer yet I think I maybe I did at the at the be at the outset I mean his odds are are what they are for a reason uh didn’t see him out here on this Monday he got in he got he gets into today okay talking to sourc Tuesday’s going to be a wash out that and then there’s the there’s the how prepared are you for what the course asks you go to Augusta every year you know it if you’ve been for a while unless you’re ludig overberg still it’s still doesn’t get boring right no of course it doesn’t but I’m just saying there’s an accumulation of knowledge unless you’re oberg and you’ve never played you’re like I’m fine how about second we we watched him hit balls oh my God talk about making it look easy he’s gross his clothes look good on him good hair great smile handsome tall swing he’s 22 22 double dece 24 whatever he’s in his young 20s that’s why Gordo here Gordo here 24 allegedly uh no he came on Sports Center I want to just linger and just introduce ourselves say hello you w the thing about coming here Gordo’s going to give you some Intel the thing about you come here and if you walk with any player you’re like I’m going to bet on him to win because they hit the ball better than we hit the ball and so every guy you watch them hit it and you’re like well they they’re going to probably win yeah or they could mhm hard to win really really hard to win the the Rory thing coming in and you’re going to hear people say he’s won two in a row did he I get that him and Lowry won in row he did not win two RS team W one in a row Scotty’s won basically everything he’s played since the spring uh missed a putt to miss a playoff and he lost he finished second in the one he didn’t win all he does his win shout out DJ Collin uh and Rory comes in off a win kka comes in off a win so in a year where golf hasn’t had a ton of buzz you come here to the the one that we get to kind of cover wall to wall it’s exciting to have a bunch of Big Time heavy weights yeah we haven’t even mentioned John ROM he’s pretty good last we checked uh sure we got it all I’m just but he I’m just saying in terms of the people that have won coming in you’re like this dude won that guy won this guy won a lot of winners um and we’ll be with you ESPN plus bet cast all day ESPN 2 I’m going to be on yeah what’s going on tell people about that we don’t know we’re throwing together a cast we’re going to try and have you know every we we’ll be touch on we’ll be able to show all the golf I think uh Thursday from 11:00 to noon is the only place you could watch it uh but yeah we’re going to be throwing some live Wagers in why wouldn’t you why not we got access to it we’re going to need to Gordo’s going to need to keep his Poise and focus on the T he’s with you you got to deal with that I understand that I can’t I just I’m going to need some help from him with the cards with the Intel he’s going to be over there with you going who’s closest to the pin give me molari how about him running out to the course today checking yardages trying to confirm make sure the right guy’s not going to just hand out a double Hammer Willy he’s not messing around uh I just hope he can narrow it down I think he’s going to have multiple H double hammers it’s been a while you kind of probably have 25 or 30 people top 20 just you root for everybody that way you root for everybody you you going to win no probably not but at the end you’re like Ah that’s great this guy got a the D you know he he finished off 20 fine um help the weather cooperates there’s nothing we can do about that uh so Gordo’s coming with a little double Hammer PJ Championship the excitement of it um palpable tangible uh we’re in Louisville that means we ate steak on Sunday night oh man can we just give a tip of the of the wide brim cat to to the legend Jeff Ruby Legend I mean certain joints like certain places like oh such and such like in Tampa there’s a place B uh bones excuse me Burns Atlanta is Bones beg your pardon Atlanta’s bones Tampa’s Burns and Louisville Cincinnati Lexington among others it’s Jeff Jeff Ruby Steakout uh years ago I’ve told the story I was at a luau MH uh it was the where season opening uh it used to be the Mercedes championships at C greatest place on Earth uh this Polynesian gentleman gave this very lengthy blessing and then he got to the end and he said the cliffs notes are eat until you’re happy I like that I like to eat till I’m happy well we I ate beyond the point of happiness because they bring this shoe Jordan there’s a dessert it’s a Jordan and it’s Chocolate Moose and it’s gold and you’re like what just don’t don’t worry about it put the knife in there so I had the one piece and then you decided there needed to be an ice cream followup there was there was a little container of caramel there were double pores of that and this was after we’d eaten the steak and the lobster mac and the things of that nature there was discomfort but the meal and the hospitality spectacular Second To None I eat fast I came in last last night eating their steaks you did you were like a wolf yep our guy big red came with us he was not messing around either nope and I looked up and I’m like I’m the only guy that has steak left and you guys are chomping at the bit about dessert I’m like wow steak burrow phenomenal Cajun cream Creole over the top of a strip what we’re telling you is if you get to this part of the world you should try to get in there I can’t guarantee I feel like we’re one like I’ve never been I I came to the derby once I wasn’t going to mess around trying to get there obviously you hear about it and it’s the place to go and I feel like we’re in our in our group amongst people I feel like we were the last ones to finally get to experience it Y and we’ve been fortunate enough to be a lot of great places and it’s really hard to exceed expectations from you and I I would say mhm to be safe yeah it exceeded expectations by a landslide I would agree with that unbel I would agree with that so shout out to Jeff Ruby just I’m just telling you be careful eat till you’re happy but then don’t try to be happier than happy I did that was it was my fault not in any fault of uh The Establishment other than that the food was too good and uh your boy couldn’t I lost Poise lost Poise lost contained first night no good then slept through the alarm hey no I wasn’t going to touch that one 0o to 10 zero being no I wasn’t worried 10 like I’m we at an age like I could be dead when front Des didn’t you didn’t answer the call to your room ner 0 to 10 nervous that I was like oh God and literally you texted me so my thinking is totally slept through heard the room phone ring got up and was in a complete days not great room phone rings pushed the phone was supposed to be up an hour before I’m like oh this is how we’re starting better than dead though yeah better than dead pounding on the door are you in there we don’t have to go to that no jokes man that’d be that we’re moving on that’d be a bad way to go out uh the Denver Nuggets are not dead either huh down O2 hitting the road people are throwing shovel fulls of dirt yic fake MVP heart of a champion never underestimated Rudy tomjanovich there’s that there’s Michael Malone making a cut up of uh talking you’re nervous you were nervous postgame Friday night he’s like he made a video of all the people in our business that were they were absolutely just burying advancing the Timberwolves burying Denver in a sweep perhaps so he made a tape showed it to a squad I know coach Malone a little bit I’m like did I make the tape CU I wasn’t I wasn’t saying that they were done because you know me I’m rarely the guy to just call it a r you started contemplating the thought of it we’re going to have a new champ it looked Minnesota looked theart and then Denver with a reminder like and I think the genius of Michael Malone is the reminder to them your Champions act like it play like it behave like it like reigning Champions I talked about that with Danny Hurley this year when he came on with this I don’t like I don’t like defending Champion Brooks C is not defending this week he didn’t defend anything you can’t take what is his it’s his raining that’s the difference and what it h say to us he said this year we wanted to rain we wanted to the idea being like a reigning Champion means like you’re acting I’m we are the still the reigning Champions well Denver is until somebody beats him and Michael Malone reminding his guys you’re the reigning Champions act like it and then they did and it’s wild like we talk about this all the time going back to our days with rillo and obviously he and Simmons talk about that a lot because they they they are in this NBA Lane but the zigzag the overreaction from one game to the next it’s it’s really uh it’s hard not to fight that and now in this series it becomes hard to fight well Denver’s going to win well they might but now it becomes the best of three two of them are in Denver if necessary but Denver’s got to go back home they didn’t win and Minnesota’s like all right well maybe the hell with it maybe we just need to go on the road to to to find this again but the scary recipe for for Minnesota included what 45 for ant in game four 44 it was well wasn’t enough no you get that much from him and you still lose in a game where you’re really not wasn’t close for much of the second half mhm that’s scary and you know Denver what was the secret two or three seconds two or three seconds get the ball over half court and two to three seconds as Mr joic told you that’s what he told us on Sports Center we laugh but he means it and and listen it seems simple but what is if you’re Denver and you get the ball quickly to the other side and what does it do you don’t have McDaniels waiting for you with that Wings spin come on oh my God that guy’s crazy right allow the best defense in the NBA to really get set and deal with it so I don’t know that that series totally changes at 22 and Denver with a massive reminder of who they are I feel like the Nick series totally changes just from the at some point you were waiting for them to get absolutely trucked MH they did on Sunday and with no ogan noi and with all the injuries at some point like you’d look at the Nick in these games where they’re winning and you’re like what how do they do this yeah well now I almost wonder like have they have they been hit to the point in the fight where you’re like oh wait I’m bleeding oh wa I’m bleeding a lot I don’t know I don’t know if they have enough at this point to win two more games yeah it’s it’s pretty crazy how that series turned on that shot by nard uh when you looked at what the Knicks did you figured in order to win the series you go go to Indiana win one put even more pressure on the Pacers but you talked about it we talked about it before the series started about who was going to dictate and with the Knicks injuries they are a man down a big man down that scored 20 plus in the in the games in the garden and now you go on on the road to Indiana who’s a team that you know wants to push Pace play Helter Skelter and be as hectic as possible they’re not going to worry about standing in front of anybody on the defensive side but they’re going to say we’re going to make more threes than twos and it was a blowout yesterday but as soon as it got to double digits in the first quarter I’m like they they can’t trade they can’t trade twos with threes and credit to Indiana man like it it says to to lose those first two games the way they did right that that that’s that’s excruciating could have won both and and to come back in in resounding fashion and put the stamp on I I I don’t like my chances with the Knicks uh what they looked like now it’s it’s a three- game series um or you know two out of three right we’ll see but you got I mean if you don’t believe in momentum I do and I don’t think the Knick’s that much right now uh based off of what happened yesterday with Indiana tying things up um I will say last week on the Pod I talked about Denver and i’ bet them when they were down 01 just just because I it couldn’t be that easy and game two was even worse and I’m like do I fire again Denver was no I did not Denver was plus over 500 when they were down 02 Indiana was plus 300 so think about that the reigning chance for more of a dog to come back in the series against now I get it they were going on the road and they had to get two back on the road whereas Indiana was going home to get to two but just to think about the perception not even seven days ago and that’s what it was the reigning Champs are dead and they look as as alive as anybody in the whole playoffs and we haven’t even touched the other two series um because they’re not as interesting we’ll see what OKC Boston but the Boston thing yeah like not interested well I mean Cleveland shot at Great in game two they lost game two at home to to Miami I just I don’t see I don’t I I is Cleveland really going to win three of the next four game I don’t see it I don’t I don’t I just don’t see a path to that and I mean again I I always just want to acknowledge the any time something that like was the sort of rilled intellectual property like the can you have a good year without winning a title I’d say Cleveland has although the question about like where’s Donovan going to be long term I think that’s out there and I don’t know people that think it’s Cleveland I I also put the Knicks in that conversation because you could already see the people that don’t like tibs like this is a huge success this year no matter what happens but all they’re going to talk about is blowing a two lead if they were to lose this series yeah but be reasonable like like you also lost you lost two more people in this series that’s what I’m saying like it’s that’s a that’s a great season did it end the way you wanted did you want to take that next step no and I’m not saying it’s over now but I’m just I I could already see how things happen in suspicious like again less than seven days ago the the reigning Champs were done what if OKC loses its Series against Dallas are people going to frame it as a good year for them I I would I don’t think the majority of people will I I think you and I are probably in a minority when it comes to that I don’t think people are you’re the one saying we’re always in we tend to be we’re smarter than other people mostly um well I think we’re more reasonable um and maybe I mean maybe it’s maybe it’s black and white maybe it’s well how could you say this if you’re the one seed and you get beaten this SE by uh by Dallas well I mean the last game was kind of coin flip Kyrie invented this left-hand float game like unbelievable it’s like a left-and running hook you know how hard that shot is to do try it or if you’re or if your left hand if you’re right if you’re left-handed try try dribble to your right and then try to like throw up this like Le a soft I’m not talking about I’m talking about actually shoot it cuz he’s shooting it your left was good you always told me oh yeah m a point really lry bird Drive video when I was little it’s about the fundies kids off season in ‘ 86 all he did was would make me do dad would make me do the left-and dribble in the light layup and I would not be a lot of fun I what I’m telling you is the I not ever could I do the hard leftand dribble like floater and he’s hit a couple of monster shots of those um and at 32 like we talked about this I think last week like he’s like looks at himself as the old head and I guess when you’re going up against Oklahoma City you are y um but I mean look OKC has a chance and we’re talking on a Monday to to to get back even tonight I said last week I’m looking at Dallas in that Series yeah you did um but even having said that I don’t I don’t think they’re shook I don’t think I don’t think OKC can’t win Monday night and get right back in this thing obviously you’d like Dallas better because you only have to win two and the OKC has to win three but playoffs have been a blast so far um they’ve been it’s been busy for us it’s a nightly thing we get we get a respit this week late nights they are um now we got early mornings I don’t you and you failed this morning you’re 0 and one when you know that Thursday morning at whatever time it is that the first ball is in the air and that you’re the one supposed to do it 7 a.m. in the East I always I always stress Eastern I stress about the the the alarm set I was watching the end of the Oilers uh Oilers uh conu game and I think I must have just gotten flued and not hit alarm set okay do the I know people just want to use their phones all the time you know what you could do tell the people at the front desk that’s what woke you up today that phone correct so it works yep maybe maybe give me a little H wakeup call all right trust me when I tell you like that that that call will be made for Thursday there we go we’re making progress already one day in I haven’t missed it I haven’t that hasn’t happened happened that I can recall ever and that was not a jarring way to wake up don’t let it happen again no uh let’s talk about that let talk about those Canucks we got we looking at suspension there people are McDavid gets high load Malachi Crunch shout out to those that know after after zeros on the clock he did take a swing took a swing but he he got high load in a big way are we going to get some suspension there you always make fun of the unwritten rules of baseball yep I don’t know anything about hockey about protocol and the the the right things to do um sportsmanship in h like I don’t know any of that and I just watch the games and love the hell out of all of them me too but like how doesn’t Bennett get suspended for punching Martian like and he and he scores the uh back breaking goal last night and then this Vancouver thing feels like a fiasco too I just don’t understand how you just there’s been no um statements made and I but again I don’t have anything to say cuz I don’t know nor do I I I defer to the I like it was a TNT game um for this one that we’re talking about with Edmonton and Vancouver and so like Biz wasn’t reacting like it was a like I mean he’s like oh he got him a little high there you know and I’m thinking it is the face of the leag it’s tough when MC Jesus is getting blasted in the back and then gets like he’s like oh that’s in the jugular and I’m thinking Well it can’t be great yeah and so but I’m with you I don’t have I don’t know it right there’s Unwritten rules there’s protocols I respect it and I love it but I’m not going to pretend like nothing nothing could be a greater point of how different that sport is than any other sport than let’s take uh let’s take Indiana in New York and let’s just say halberton and Brunson and say that Carlile and tiibs look at their guys on the bench and brunson’s like hey I got to fight and tb’s like go get him and carlile’s looking at his guy in halbert’s like and he halberton is looking down the bench at Brunson if next time they check in they don’t even like go to check ball it’s just like come on put them up like we’re an no brother we ar there on the front of w WPS or whatever name of that show is oh you know what I’m talking about yeah I am the damn patter familius and he punched him in the face you and Reese Davis love that movie some of the best dialogue ever is in O Brother Where Art th but think about if that actually is going to happen and then they go out and fight and then at the end of the night if dibs is like I thought it was great and then carlile’s like that was awesome because that’s what Rashard and um I excuse me Maurice that’s that’s what Maurice and um and mcgomery said afterwards about their guys it’s like thought it was great and in the in the context of that sport it was because these are two star players that are like we’re going to fight and look pasta got his head knocked off but then to his credit he stayed stayed in the scrap man yeah I got to think if you get hit Square in the Noggin and your hat calls like that’s where I’m probably like no I’m good coming from a guy that’s happened to him before you do have a a a a holy I just got punched in the face but that’s natural reaction I’m going to get it I’m going to get the next one the caveman the caveman gear kicks in well it did for pasta uh and so I don’t know like there there there are clearly rules in that sport that we we don’t traffic him we don’t understand him with the with what happened in the in the ton of fights and all the you know game misconducts what have you they go up and win game three then they are down two nothing win game four and so that whole Boston New York like you think he might get in the NBA you think he might get it in the NHL maybe maybe you don’t get either I mean if you’re the Panthers you like listen sorry about your TV matchup sorry about your big Northeast Market matchup we don’t care and nor should they um Rangers it would appear they get get a chance to go home again it’s on a Monday they the hurricanes are finally on the board it’s interesting we’re walking and talking about the Panthers and Kea and we agree it’s like there’s something about the Hurricanes where it’s like they’re clearly a really good team but then there’s the ceiling they hit their head on in the in the postseason it’s like why is that like well who’s to say I mean that’s like why are there some guys that like just you can’t figure out how we got here it’s a big ballpark is it this place rocks yeah like I don’t know this Exquisite you better know Exquisite Place feels like it first time walk the first six H it’s not a golf course that has like you go to some major championship venues and there’s there’s centuries of History old course or whatever here it’s it doesn’t have a century of history but the events that have been played here you want to go back to Kenny Perry and Mark Brooks in a playoff you got Tiger Woods and Bob May in a playoff you’ve got Rory in the darkness there’s been a Ryder Cup here I mean it’s it’s it’s produced remarkably compelling play um all anyone wants to know those how do they win money what what are what what are we focusing on key factors let’s start out with the definition of a double hammer for those that don’t know 15 units s it’s a singular it’s a singular bet and it’s no shorter than minus 120 so Xander’s minus 150 for top 20 this week which is an automatic play it’s not the double Hammer because that’s too short okay understood understood it was the double Hammer at uh at oakill yes and you were gripping walking at home Wen you he was yeah that was his that was his uh fourth straight top 20 of what is now eight straight top 20s for Xander so that’s just a blanket like blind playus 150 but that’s lay it absolutely send it okay right what what factors are we looking at this like the each each venue has certain things that are indicators right you look you at the Masters it’s greens and regulation almost always are a great indicator of who’s going to play well because you’re just not going to score well if you’re not on those screens even if you are a couple years ago Scotty Sheffer LED in greens and regulation but didn’t putt well was last in the field in putt so there there are certain tells are there things about this golf course that you’ve looked at you’re like this is important from my terms of uh the research I’m doing only a couple because we haven’t seen it since 2014 but you’ve got six par fours that are 470 yards or longer MH so par four scoring on that distance and longer is a key factor that you should consider um and then more of it I think is recent form with how these guys are playing because we don’t have the the yearly rotation of this track sure and there’s a you know several people that haven’t played here before but if you can find the par for scoring which I think is is could be a differentiator and some course comps with other Nicholas designs in mirfield Village wherever you think people say that does do you buy it just walking it do you do you think like I I could see it but I I mean I don’t know that it’s I do see it I don’t put a ton of weight into it but I think you would agree with this to to players eyes if an if several holes on a track fit their eye that makes them more comfortable that’s a real thing sure but like I mean I don’t know we step up on the second hole it’s 500 on the card and it’s a par four and I’m looking at that and all I’m thinking is like all right this is like this is an easy six and we move to the next te obviously Brooks DJ and Gary Woodland aren’t thinking that but it’s I mean it’s there are a bunch of those really Stout lengthy par flors it’s incredible that the the winning scores here have all been double digit under par I know it that’s crazy now there are there are what I like about it I mean I’m curious how you see it I love a golf course that gives you different there’s like of course it gives you there’s only one way to play it that that’s not interesting to me of course it provides several options and says listen if you can go this way good for you you want to take it the other way that option is available to you as well I think that’s why a lot of people like golf if you you know it’s not forced carries it’s just there’s shoot what’s your what’s the lowest you can shoot have at it this way have about it that way there are different Fairways you can hit one of the par fivs gives you an opportunity to go left or go right uh and I think that that makes it interesting because there are some short par fours and your your point is well taken that as big as it is it’s not like six under is going to win here yeah because you had Rory at 16 under tiger at 18 in 2000 and Bob May was at 18 as well so you have two guys that deep that’s the thing about Bob man that none none of you all would have been I mean it’s 24 years ago my God I’m old but I look at a guy like Bob May that’s the best week of his life never played Better Could couldn’t have played better and 2000 tiger is absolutely Superman at the peak of his powers and Bob may as much as and Bob May is this big and he’s throwing Haymakers and he made Tiger Woods be great to beat him and unfortunately for Bob May tiger Woods was and like you got a little left to right slider on 18 that’s a hard putt for a right-handed guy to make and it’s never anywhere but in and then of course in in the playoff he’s tight chasing after it and pointing at the ball and all the rest like Bob May was great and they always say that people don’t remember who finishes second well that’s wrong because if you finished second to tiger and your Bob May everyone remembers that dude but that was a week where he could have become like we said a forever player he could have become a major champion and instead he’s he’s a foot note cuz it was Tiger it was 2000 tiger who didn’t lose golf tournaments I hope that happens this week with sheffler because sheffler right now is playing better than tiger in 2000 you heard it hot take it’s numbers it’s the math the math says that he just math don’t get don’t get mad at the math you how we feel show your work show your work so Scotty’s got five and a half birdies are better per round mhm this season 40 rounds none none over par five five and a half birdies are eagles the alltime record in a single season is 2000 tiger at 5.2 okay let’s talk Bogies one and a half per round for sheffler this season 1.76 is the all-time single season record which was also 2000 tired so Scotty as of now which it could regress to the mean with a couple more Majors but as of right now Scotty’s breaking those two figures which tiger holds both of them in in 2000 right knowledge that’s knowledge well it’s it’s just math and we we have said forever you can argue with opinions but you can’t argue with facts and those are facts and I’ve said this as plainly as I can that any comparison to Tiger I resist doing because it’s absolutely not fair to Tiger Woods because he’s earned the right not to be compared to somebody that’s playing well for a little bit of time but I think it’s fair to say for what you’re saying when it comes to Scotty because this isn’t a week or a month I mean now we’re you know what’s the old Boomer TJ line once is an accident twice is a trend three is a problem well I mean sheffer’s has reached the problem stage of of who he is in the game which is why his odds are as short as they are uh do you like him to play well here this week of course I mean he hasn’t finished outside the top 20 and and likes ever I don’t the baby
