they’re all quarterback related in a way and like the lights with the show this is it what a a beautiful couple we are uh so Jared Goff gets his deal and it’s a monster and predictably many in cowboy Nation are going oh no oh no what what is the impact on the Jared Goff 212 million fouryear $212 million contract on Deck what’s the impact what’s the big change that we know all about the Cowboys opener now and we know who’s going to be there and some other quarterback Gunk so let’s start with the contract Cynthia that deal is insane but is it Cynthia by the way uh sugar Cynthia’s Uncle fish premium she’s in the house don’t be jelly hey how do I get to be uncle fish premium Circle in the star like Cynthia ask the fellas or the ladies they’ll show you how I’m going to suggest that it’s not incredible that it’s a simple logical progression of Jerry and Stevens leaves falling and this time it’s at the quarterback position and it’s $212 Million worth of leaves and that’s a lot and they’re falling in Detroit into the bank account of Lions quarterback Jared Goff what’s the impact as it relates to Dak I’m already seeing all this nervous Nelly specula that means dak’s leaving why what changed for Dak Prescott if you know what we know and because you’re a fish head in cowboy Nation 70,000 strong you do know what we know so here comes this idea that this is going to firm up the decision I guess by both parties Dak of the Cowboys to go through the 2024 lame duck season stick it as it stands final year of a deal that’s paying him 440 million now opt to remain unsigned and to leave him unsigned so he is a free agent a year from now and of course that is very much within the realm of possibility but we think that I think that goff’s deal doesn’t make that more likely than it already was so it’s a knee-jerk response to think that all the sudden oh no and it’s a premature response to think oh no did Prescott’s price just go up a lot of people think that but apparently they don’t have a very good guess at what Prescott’s price today might be Brian Hayes Uncle fish premium the leaves didn’t just fall the whole damn tree is as it is going to for quarterbacks including Dak Michael Evans Uncle fish premium I hope Dak Waits breaks the bank elsewhere and then breaks the Cowboys backs why would you be against the Cowboys I don’t understand why a Cowboy fan would be against the Cowboys you want Dak Prescott to move to the Giants and then the Giants beat the Cowboys and then you’re happy I don’t understand why a Cowboy fan would be happy by that what do I know how did Dax price go up because somebody just find signed a $53 million a year contract when we believe his price is 60 his price doesn’t change a bit he’s still going he’s he his agent and and Dak the Dak camp and so go I’m better than Jared Goff and if you don’t see it that way Jerry and Steven then fine then I’ll go be better than Jared GF for somebody else next year I’m better than Jared gof this doesn’t Jack dax’s Price up it in his mind justifies where it is and should be Dak is asking for more than $53 million per year I think you can almost Bank on that and if he wants 60 this doesn’t have anything to do with it uh it does make it clear though where we’re going 50 Mill ion Dollar Plus is now the going rate for the new guy who signs burrow 55 Goff 53 Herbert 52 and a half Lamar 52 Jaylen Herz 51 so 50 is the easy part and we can we can certainly argue that Dak is not in the same class who is with Patrick Mahomes Patrick Mahomes but Dak can counter by saying I’ve done the same amount of stuff that Goff and Justin Herbert have done Lamar Jackson hadn’t gone to a Super Bowl Jaylen Herz hadn’t won a Super Bowl Joe burrow hadn’t won a Super Bowl someday some place Dak Prescott is going to clear the $60 million a year hurdle he just is another point for the nervous nail biters and the Debbie downers Straight Dope no bu you think the Cowboys are surprised by this you don’t think they knew this they know this they know what’s going on they knew this contract was coming they know that Justin Jeff contracts over there as it relates to CD lamb they know the Jamar Chase deal is over there they also know by the way guess who else is coming around the corner Tua is coming around the corner Trevor Lawrence is coming around the corner Aussie Dak at 55 million maybe JV GF has 170 million guarantee that’s right but guess what that’s in line too in a sense with what dax’s deal already already is in a sense G’s got 170 million guarantee and that is a scary proposition I’m not I’m not I’m not debating that but four years ago three years ago Dak got a $160 million deal and 126 million in guarantees so goff’s number I haven’t gone and done the salary cap comparison but the three or four year salary cap up Go’s number actually represents I bet you pretty close to a fair really fair natural inflation Norm again don’t don’t uh drill down too hard in me on the exact numbers but but $126 million guarantee in 2021 and $170 million guarantee today that seems in line here’s the bottom line on golf’s impact on deak and by the way I’m interested in your comments in this of quarterback just became the second highest paid quarterback in the NFL because the liance pulled the trigger on what in arguably is a gigantic decision ision and the Cowboys aren’t doing the same thing with Dak not just because of a la of proactivity although that’s a factor remember not when we talk about proactivity they counter by with the with the takes two to tango thing it’s true but it’s not just about a lack of proactivity nor is it due to this much Bley Hood Dak has all the leverage God I’m getting sick of that Dak doesn’t have any leverage if I don’t want to sign him if he wants 60 million a year and I don’t want to pay him 60 million a year I don’t care how much leverage you have I I’ve decided I’m not doing it I’m not doing it he’s got a no trade clause I don’t care I’m not signing him he’s got a No Tag CLA I don’t care I’m not signing him I’m not paying him $60 million can be the sentiment inside the star everybody keeps doing this leverage thing there is no I have no leverage in my romantic relationship with that woman if the woman no longer wants to be romantic with me doesn’t matter how how how tall I am I I’m taller and I have more money but she doesn’t like me well then I don’t have any Leverage they’re dragging their feet in part because some of the leaves to fall that they’re looking for they want to have come in the form of more evidence that 60 Tre Lance he’s his salary is $5 million guaranteed it is weird that you’ve got three quarterbacks on this team and none of them are under contract for 2025 and it is absolutely within the realm of possibility that Tre Lance gets showcased this summer and a quarterback somewhere else gets hurt and you trade him but you better get more than a fourth round pick for him otherwise that trade didn’t work yes Thor Dallas at Cleveland week one with Tom Brady in the booth speaking of backup quarterbacks Ben denucci hey got CAU in Denver and I think and I said this I say this a lot um Ron wolf kind
