MGM Podcast 37 – NRRRL

well here we are ladies and gentlemen back for the uh the NRL gingi and Foxy rap um this is going to be an interesting one tonight you sp that out well this is going to be an interesting one tonight Leslie um for the simple fact that it’s going to be hard to report on something that has been an absolute schles um due to this one there’s a new word i’ love messaging you all weekend there’s a new word you did to there’s a new word in the uh out there in the world it’s of the NL it’s called was outs um so as we all know it’s been an interesting I’m predicting another wash out oh God don’t do this to us it’s been an interesting start to the season um for the simple fact that um from round one to round what round I’ve even lost track mate I don’t even know what round we’re up to let’s have a look I think last weekend’s round was supposed to be round five okay so we are in depth in the notes are up there behind we are in depth into the competition going into round six is what I’m what I’m assuming um but as we all know out there in podcast land and in Rugby League World and in NL World um we’re nowhere near round six we’ve probably played some clubs have had played two games so far this season some have played three some have played three um and we going to we we’re going to have a bit of a yarn about that and some of the impacts of that tonight um I’m I’m tossing out controversy Corner because mate there is only one controversy in the entry at the moment it’s called was was outs um so B loves a wash I’ve been asking him all weekend what’s going on all those he’s been giving it to me absolutely giving it to me all weekend but all those people out there I have no doubt the rugby league supporter in this competition generally the the club people the volunteers the players we’re all frustrated um this is this is going to I hope we get there sooner rather than later in relation to trying to sort something out I’m going to talk about something that’s happening tomorrow night as well based on the wash out wash outs um and can I ask you a question go for it what if it’s a wash out this weekend can we talk about that soon God Jesus um sorry for that my my podcast viewers both Les and also the Wonder for Maestro at the back gothe if they know that there is one thing that rubs me the wrong way the last few weeks it’s the wash outs and I hate the word like I honestly do and and there’s two things I hate outside of that of the wash outs well it’s this going to bed at night and waking up in the middle of the night and hearing bloody rain um and then the second thing is waking up in the morning and seeing bloody rain um and then waking up in the morning and sing my TXS my whole week now I’ve got a job too by the way so I work but outside of my work outside of my working life I’m this is what my role is in life now is I got to try and fit work in because outside of work I’ve got to contact NL weekly daily constantly I’ve got to contact Lismore city council weekly daily constantly um and then I’ve got to communicate with a playing group weekly daily constantly and on top of that every person out in pville um Rings me messages me going hey bingi do you know what’s happening this weekend just for all those viewers out there I am not the chairperson of the NRL that’s why you’re on the big it’s actually Mark Harrison and I’m going to say ring Harrow I have no idea but I am going to try and put some of this to bed tonight because I’m over the wash outs there you go um so let’s get on to the podcast um normally what we would do at this section Les is we’d go around the grounds but there’s no around the grounds so we’re going to do this reverse reverse um so look there’s no around the grounds um the only thing I can say about round five of the N Tri RL is wash out there you go and will be played round 17 16 I didn’t even know that was around 17 it’s actually going to be it’s going to be added on to the end of the year well that might change and I’m going to tell you why shortly so look it’s going to be let let’s unpack some of this let’s unpack some of this unpack it mate so for the for the viewing audience I’ve got a couple of things that I want to raise uh in relation to the wash outs um and and the reason being is because I think the wash is having an impact across the whole of our competition and we all know that it’s it’s it’s an impact on um clubs generally it’s an impact on the competition overall um and it’s also an impact on our supporters of each of all the clubs in the competition and more importantly it’s an impact on it on the playing rosters Within These clubs as well because the level of frustration is now becoming quite high and I what’s the solution look I I just want the NL board um to really consider what’s happening right now and come up with a better solution than maybe what they have um what are you suggesting well we talked about it last week midweek game start the MCO cup so for those people out there in in that are a lot younger than or a lot younger than Les I was about to say what’s the what is it called MK cup M MK cup so I’m going to unpack the MK cup so we all know the N or not the N the NRL okay so before the N Tri there’s a thing called the we look it’s the Winfield cup um regardless on I’m not supporting C cigarettes or smoking in any way shape or form totally against it to be totally honest so was called the Winfield cup but there was a and gofy you would 100% remember these days there used to be a weekend competition that played Saturday Sundays there was no such thing as a Friday night game um that that got introduced in the 80s and then or late 80s early 90s Friday night footy and Thursday night footy but before then there used to be a Wednesday competition and it was called the MCO cup interestingly enough for our viewing audience for those people that are as old as what I am and goof is Goof is just say you know goof is are way older than me um so the Amco cup used to be a midweek competition so you know in England they’ve got um you’ve got so what there was two different competitions yeah but normal weekend but listen to this interestingly enough all the teams in the Winfield cup took part in the Amco Cup on a Wednesday night okay um outside of that though there were groups or divisions so Western Division Northern Division well Northern Rivers okay um and all those divisions you know like talking about divisions this whole thing called wash outs have created a division but anyway so outside of those you know so there’s all these div divisional teams that would also come in and take part in the MCO Cup on a Wednesday night funnily enough out of all of that over the many many years there was actually one division that actually won the MK cup if I’m if I’m right it was actually was it Northern Division you sure about that okay I’m tossing up between Northern Division and Western Division but I’m going with Goofy’s word it was actually Northern Division I got to say it was one division Northern Division okay yeah so and and it’s never been done before where a divisional team took on the NRL powerhouses and actually won a competition even though people don’t think it was a competition was it’s actually there was actually a cup that was presented it was actually there was money involved in it as well um big money because it’s actually it actually was the start of midweek footy um so the reason I’m telling you that story is because I’m thinking that at some stage this week the N are going to have to look at a concept that doesn’t impact or drag out this season that has the capabilities and possibilities of actually allowing those teams that haven’t played because of the wash outs and and get the competition on track without going an extra round and the only way that I can see that is going to happen is by creating a midweek cup well you don’t want to call it a cup but playing midweek games on a Wednesday night just a midweek round cup catch yeah so we can actually play these rounds over look and I’m floating the boat here so basically you told us about this cup yeah and all it was was you want to play midweek games well there was a long way to get to where we want to get to but long story short the entry can we take a a a trip down memory lane and actually have a look at playing some Wednesday night games to do the catch-up rounds rather than have the impact and I’ll tell you why through all the wash outs mate we’ve had these impacts of the impacts on clubs we’ve got Financial impacts huge financial impacts because you’ve got potentially three or four clubs now that haven’t had a home game since the start of the season because of the wash outs and that has a major Financial impact sick of saying wash oh you I’m I’m this is payback for the weekend um the the reason I’m saying that is this financial impact is now being felt because of these reasons is apart from not having a home game and having an income flow through the gates and the cantens which is where most clubs get their their dollar from the other impacts that are being felt is that clubs now have to come up with alternatives to training now some of those clubs have the luxury of training at venues that they’re hiring from Council and I’m just going to identify that Marsh Brothers they identify um their training venue is crazy Ral they got the access to the underneath of crazy Ral which most clubs haven’t got the luxury of um Good Luck to Marsh Brothers good luck to Lismore city council I’m not quite sure how you come up with that deal but you m you pulled it off um I’m not going to harop about that but what I’m Haring about is this clubs like you know Northern and other clubs around the competition they can’t go on train on their home grounds have to come up with an alternative and the Alternatives cost so to go on hire a stadium in in your town uh or a large venue or more importantly alternative training measures through maybe Crossfield or doing whatever all comes at a cost now if a club isn’t having a comp if the club isn’t having hosting home games those cost cost uh costs that are incurred that were outside of what the normal season would be and that clubs would normally budget in right now we’re probably looking at some clubs actually costs or already into the thousands and that’s being upfront being honest I know that factually because it’s it’s an impact on the club that I’m with involved with which is Northern but you know we’re not talking you know $20 to hire hire a venue or um you know $50 to go and pull on a training session we’re talking you know easily $200 to2 200 $200 or more for session for one session and how many grades is that that’s potentially one or two grades and you got them that’s not even four it’s not even four grades so if you get four grades the cost fact go through the roof so there’s one uh impact the other impact outside of the financial impacts is this play a drain so if you’re involved in a club and for the last five weeks you’ve not played a you have you’ve played two games in five weeks or six weeks and trained once and trained once what do you believe Les I’m going to put the question to you as a player how would you cope with that how how would you like being be honest about I’ll be feeling underdone when I do start to play I’ll be struggling Fitness levels are going to be down going be which creates what skill levels going to be down which creates what I don’t know what’s it create creates well I think it creates for for clubs and for coaches and for players it place it places clubs at risk because you also run the run the risk of injuries that you would never normally have because you got consistency in footy training and all the other bits and pieces y uh and the alternative training that you have to do the the other impact on a player is the mental challenge o of am I training this week am I not training this week am I doing something different to normally training on the paddock should the ownership go to the individual player to get themselves to a gym yeah but mate gyms aren’t cheap let’s arap let’s be honest about this and and a lot of the clubs players a lot of the club’s Players let’s be honest a lot of these BLS haven’t got high paying jobs so and they haven’t got the luxury of going into their employ and saying can you pay my gym membership so gym memberships are anywhere between 6 to 800 bucks a year now that’s to go generally and if you’re just going to go one offs during the offseason or during inseason you’re still looking at a cost of 25 bucks or more I don’t even know can you even do a one off these days I don’t know that I think them days are gone I think they have too so what I’m saying is it’s great to say gym memberships but not every player has a luxury so the other thing is outside of that the only alternative for players is going down to places like Kmart who sell cheap training equipment I had a gym membership and I think I used it once for the 12 months I was there well so I paid 12 mon for nothing the only the only thing I’m going to say is no comment cuz I’ve seen I’ve seen the proof of that um but the bigger thing in that is what I’m saying so the mental challenge for players to be up every week um if a player hasn’t played for three weeks all of a sudden they’re playing next week they haven’t that that that’s a Major Impact I get you that big risk of injury isn’t it young kids under 18 let’s just use them as an example if you’re being washed out that’s the first time I’ve said it to if you’re if if that’s happened for you for the last 3 weeks as a young 18year old then are you going to be you know is the interest in in playing we in workout footy there anymore I’m not even playing and I’m missing it well this is the and mate I I I’ll give you why I’ll give you the reason why last night I I got the opportunity to do some training with the 18s in our club and I asked the question I I just said so how you all feeling about this m I had players say to me last night they want to play they don’t want to play anymore um and and then I’ve had some players in the in in both our senior grades and under 18 sign this season’s a waste of time and I might just wait and play for them and I’m talking about some of the indigenous boys I’ll just wait and play The Knockout now if the N Tri don’t take this serious the impacts for this year they’re going to feel the back end of our season so I’m putting it out there come up with a solution come up with a solution that’s going to work for the compet comptition come up with a solution that’s going to work for these clubs and and if you got some Pur strings out there um and there’s there’s room within the war chest of the N Tri RL you got to start to dip into your pockety because some of these clubs financially are doing it not so great and you know like we we have to really be honest about that and that’s where I’m at so that’s my you know yarn about the well we can’t keep adding rounds until the end of the year can we when does it stop so we potentially and and I’m glad you mentioned it earlier and I know goofy mentioned it so this weekend let’s let’s talk about this weekend today’s Wednesday still raining and and the prediction for the next three days rain massively massive rain coming so um you know I know there’s a crunch so I’m going to get to this now what I was going to talk about so the other bit I was going to talk about is tonight uh tomorrow night there’s an NL meeting and it’s holy solely focused on these issues so I’m saying out there to those Club people in cluband make your make your voices heard come up with some really good Solutions or ideas to put to the N RL that we could all work with I think it’s time now that we all pull together as clubs here and try and work with each other um because without that nothing’s going to happen and we’re just going to be putting week on week on week on the competition by the end of the season could come up to 20 rounds which is crazy um on top of that you’ve got a knockout an Aboriginal rugby league knockout held in the 20th of September um here in Lismore which can’t change because that commitment is already been made by teams that are going to be attending we’re talking about 30 possible teams attending The Knockout this year in the men’s division and 12 teams in the women Division I can tell you now as the coordinator of that knockout this year that’s already half full so the other 15 sides in the men’s competition that’s going to fill within the next month and a half two months and I know it so you know that’s that’s going to be another factor that needs to come into play when the discussions are had tomorrow night but I just I just hope and my message out to the rugby league land clubs talk up say something um come up with some ideas that are fruitful I think we just do midweek games get them over and done with don’t drag them on y if you got to play two three mid week games so be it so be it okay that’s my opinion well let’s let’s let’s just let’s just now I think I’m washed out so I’ve got nothing more to add to that conversation I think people out there in um podcast land you know you guys look send in send in some messages to me between now through I was going to say goofy can we use your um email site so Mark markm Markoff media.com okay and send you send if anyone out there in rugby leand have some solutions send them send them through goofy can you send them through to me between now tomorrow night so I can actually raise some of those tomorrow night at the N trip RL the other thing is if you can’t send an email text message me like I don’t care about giving my number out I’ve got no secret so uh 0434 415 652 that’s my number hit me up a message I’m happy to share that with the N tomorrow night by hit him up ask him how the game’s going ah head on the weekend god um but come up you know help us out come up with some solutions because we need a pathway forward yeah let’s move on from the wash out there you go so let’s move over we’re going to move in now to I’m getting sick of the wash outs I’m just going to now I I’ll made out I can’t I can’t even talk anymore I’m going to hand it over to you big man oh what are we getting into we we G we’re g to talk how about we get into round what round did you say we’re out cuz nobody knows this we this who may be playing who okay so this could be depending on weather round six okay let’s this weekend cjin vers Tweed Coast oh are we tipping we’re tipping okay cin vers tweet Coast I better take note of this tweet Coast in an upset bji Les tweet Co and I’m going tweet Coast Barn Bay versus Mal Bimi Barn yep Baron Bay I’m with you where’s it at at uh Barn Bay so whoever I read first is the home team Y Evans head versus Bal I’m s where’s it at Evans head Evans head I’m actually gonna say Evans I’ll go B according to you I always go you never tip against B even when they play against Northern yeah we don’t tip for northern games I know but I know what you feel like m m and bar versus Northern United we’re not tipping goofe I am Northern United coffee Northern United uh bamble versus lower Clarence bamble bamble for me too kyogle vers 23 gos not tipping tip reserv right Mar Brothers versus Cino I’m actually gonna go Cino you just see M and you went the opposite no I didn’t Marshall it’s at casino yeah Casino G sorry it’s it’s Mar brother’s home gra satday y I’m smiling you know why I’m smiling cuz you can go watch no cuz it’s that crazy up oh say wash out good luck with that sorry sorry Brothers I’m not I’m not I’m not laughing about anything else other than good luck with limore city council if you know the gods of council then you’ll actually play and if you do play then I’m got something to say about it so all right so that’s round six bingi yeah mate it is so there you go there’s a tips in for round six for the NL now just give a tip update what was the score again do I have to yeah I think it was like 62 or something like that no it’s not it’s like four no it’s like 62 the paper’s up there we’ll find out later anyway my my count was 52 all right 52 then we’ll go with that y okay let’s move along brother let’s get on to the NRL NRL let’s we’re going to talk a bit of NRL just to change it up a bit tonight um simple reason is we can’t talk much about triple RL watch outs yeah there you go so mate we got the rabitos and the Panthers and the panther run away 42 to 12 winners mate I I think I’m just going to State the obvious um South Sydney in a whole world of pain dra Mitch back this week I don’t care South Sydney in a whole world of pain yeah um I Reon Wayne Bennett will be the coach next year well look there’s a it’s it’s a high possibility um oh man I’ve been watching these games W in Wake out I know Dria got sacked but there’s got to be some player accountability yeah I agree yeah but if the same thing happened the in triple RL and it was at Northern United and I was going as bad as what Demetri I’d get sucked as well yeah yeah yeah there you go mate this one was surprising to me the Raiders upsetting manly 2624 it was an upset but I’m going to be honest about the Raiders they’re the club that I’ve seen outside of the dolphins that know to get down and dirty and and take teams to to painful spaces I tipped the Raiders the week before against the Sharks maybe and they were terrible but they they took Manley to a space that Manley didn’t like so they come out the victors in the end so well done to Raiders uh roosters 40 to 18 Victors over the Bronx I was going to say it could have been a game of two halves but Broncos only played the second half of the whole game game um but when they got to 18 points this is what happened they got to their 18 points on a bit of flare and they went okay let’s just keep flaring it out and what happened was it came back to bot him on the butt and Russy just got down to the grinding game and the Broncos aren’t the Broncos can’t grind Adam Reynolds gone for a b bit is he oh mate he’s he’s gone for the season I’d say is he yeah Rooster’s a good win there mate this was a good game actually I watch this one b 22 Tigers 14 yeah m i I think the Bulldogs are going to I think they I think they’re coming good so I’m not surprised um the tigers are thereabouts the Tigers the Tigers have been good but you know I watched the brand of footy that the the doggies were playing and there were patches in that game where they were really good storm 22 Titans 20 I’m actually disappointed cuz I thought the ti I thought the Titans for the whole game with a better team um the only thing I’d say about that game if I’m the coach of Queensland can you just like like take AJ brimson into that side mate he was unbel was unbel but the storm who would ever everyone everyone wrote the stor off at the start of the season and I’ll be honest mate they’re out there leading the competition with I reckon Jerome who Hughes is the best half in the comp considering that he started his old career as a fullback yeah I reckon he is the best half in the club he’s deved has a halfback you gotry you got C I reckon he’s he the I think everyone was in shock when when when bamir first moved into halfback but his development on Bell as a half has turned him into the best half in the competition by far and mate your so-called team the Dolphins 28 26 over the thins up baby THS up over the Cowboys mate I actually you probably going to say whatever I actually said last week the Dolphins would get up so I go your dolphins and um the the the Cowboys are still riding their horses anyways to the main game Newcastle 14 Warriors eight that was the upset of the round um wasn’t upset to me oh mate it’s the second G one on year but um that was the upset of the round for the simple fact that I think the warriors were robbed no definitely video referee will tell you different no shock’s 20 dragon that TR sorry that try that what’s his name d lnc whatever the Winger how is that not a penalty try no no peny try it was a penalty though no I don’t care well yeah I’m just saying video referees need to take a long hard look in the mirror because they’re terrible shar’s 20 M dragy 10 upet that’s not an that’s not an upset and I’ll tell you why and I’m going to be real mate whatever’s happening down the sh they need to bottle because I tell now that’s going to I I think they’re going to be up there in the top two for the rest of the season they are playing the best brand of foot in the NRL that I’ve seen of any club so far good I don’t listen to people that support St George sorry so round 10 in the NRL we got Dolphins versus SE Eagles we tipping we might as well but we’re not going to record it yeah okay dolini I’m going Manley DOL dolans uh Panthers versus Bulldogs Panthers doggies bro param versus Broncos I’m going parah I’m going I’m going the Broncos because param are terrible and I can’t stand gotho it’s even better King gotho get he’s not my king Tigers be Knights I’d love to say the Tigers I’m going Tigs I’m going to Tigs as well I’m going Tigs I’m going to t as well I don’t have confidence in my team cuz I was just going to say um what goes up must come down no they just remind me one week they’re good and then for the next three weeks they’re terrible well they W two weeks in a row there is there is there is a name but it’s not appropriate to say in here drag queens ver oh sorry dragons vers rabitos mate to be totally honest okay I’m going I’m I’m actually going to do something really crazy you’re going to upset for the bunnies yeah I am I am too just cuz coffe here yeah and the other reason is TR Mitchell’s back tr’s back yeah uh storm vers sharks storm storm no sorry sharies I’ve got storm sharies sharies shies roosters V Warriors I’m saying the Warriors roosters you worries we’re going roosters and the Titans versus Cowboys I’m Titans I’m actually going I’m going yea Cowboys I’m actually going to that game so there you go and you’re off the magic round and the Raiders got the buy so there you go so that’s the NRL rounds um I thought we’d finish off tonight’s um podcast and we start to talk a little bit about some of the things I know it’s a long way away from September yep um but if we continue to get wash out it’s going to become a lot quicker um so we we’re going to talk a little bit about Knockouts so we’ve got the Lismore knockout um coming up 20th 21st and 22nd of September how’s the buoy team looking well is that how it was said yeah yeah my the buoy team is actually shaping up pretty damn good um and there’s two reasons one is your finished all your medical procedures and so have I um we will make a decision on that in the coming weeks um based on our training regime which started for me this week The Knockout might be washed out Jesus God don’t say that that could be the my worst nightmare anyway um the good thing about that is the ENT trip don’t have a say that one it’s it’s actually counil Council but yeah so I got to work pretty hard um look we’ve got the Lismore knockout at the moment the update on that is um we’ve got potentially right now how many men’s teams about 12 to 15 get your teams in before there’s no room how what’s the maximum 30 30 teams and the women’s knockout is 12 teams 12 teams yeah we got six already are you having any Juniors this year no no Juniors yeah but we might have under 17 CH I’ve been asked by a few people are you having Juniors no under 7even in ch the reason being is look with 30 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams it’s a big weekend in itself I I think the reason the other reason we’re not having Juniors is because two weeks after the the Lismore knockout you’ve got the the state knockout and then you’ve also got the maray carnival to which all these kids from our region playing both so they’re going to get plenty of footy um and they get plenty of footy during the season withe no junior games when I was playing so as much as we would love to cater for that I just think it’s a logistical nightmare um and also there’s a whole second thing that you have to do in relation to insurance is when it comes to Juniors and people out there need to understand that so you know I’d have to go through a different pathway with new South W ragby League to make that happen and at this stage we’re comfortable in what we’re doing in growing the the The Knockout we’ve we’ve gone from I think initially back in the days there was like 10 or 12 teams um we grew to 20 teams uh and in 2024 we go to 30 teams in the men’s so we’re going to be this to be totally honest we’re the second biggest money uh well it’ll be yet to be determined no it’ll be it’ll be 70% of the um 70% the nomination fee so you’re talking you’re talking right now up near 25k in prize money for the men’s and the same with the women’s um so you know you’re talking you’re talking 9k um in the women’s you know that that’s big dollar the two weeks going out you know some of these teams too are prepping up for the big knockout for the big knockout 25k goes a long way to paying for all those other expenses that you don’t normally you know you struggle to you struggle to get sponsorship and payment for so for me to grow this knockout now to 30 teams is amazing um I think the venue is absolutely Immaculate Top Notch oh man it’s the best venue in New South Wales Country by far um and I’m not I’m not saying that because it’s in Lismore but I’m welcoming all these clubs that are going to come down once they see the venue got a feeling it’s going to be a wash out shut up um just shut up God God don’t I’m touching every piece of wood praying as anyway God will be with me and whoever else but b army and all the other people out there that they they’ll all jump in and they’ll help me out anyway don’t do the weather prediction please um that’s too far off too far good well not necessarily um so look The lismo Knockout um it’s going to be one hell of an event the same thing we’ve got stall holders we’ve got we’re going to have things there for kids this year um entertainment um we’re going to be this is going to be one h tent we’ve got a stratty tent so all the merch uh will be out there the other thing grab and the other thing they’ll be selling merch not just for the lizo not they’ll be selling merch for the other clubs that are participating in the big knockout so Mark go media team will be there be there we’ll be there we’ll be there doing the commentary and here’s the big bit Saturday night the Afterparty marry the bomb G’s Get Down to the G spot for The Knockout after party and guess what are you the official host host we are we are we are hosting the official Afterparty I don’t even know if I can go yet mate you know what they’re going to be we’re going too we’re going to go to another Stratosphere because we’re going to be are we DJ we’re going to be we’re going to be the small version of No Limits we’re going to call our we’re going to be calling ourselves the limit um so you’ve gone too far no that’s it brother we’re going to be hosting an Afterparty um we’re going to be there with our miked up ready to go and we might even Chuck in some DJ BR there you go so get get you know get your teams ready get your people ready get down to the Lismore knockout let’s get it up and running and get it going and let’s make sure that this knockout is one knockout to remember 30 teams in the men’s 12 teams in the women’s Bring it on Bring It On You know the Afterparty the entertainment you know through all the tents and and all the organizations that get involved um I love seeing The Knockout coordinator dressed out the cometry the best cometry in rugby league indigenous rugby league anywhere um and M well I’ll tell you why I know that and I’m not dishing on the bles that do the big knockout but I’ll tell you what those bles the comments we got and I’m just going to I don’t care if people throw at me what you want because you know what I don’t really care um so every time we got a knock at and let’s be honest with each other here how many times do people say can you two go around and comment cuz the people around there are boring couple of times um well M it’s more than a couple times we got hit up last year big time so here’s a call out to The Knockout if you really want people to tune in to the New South Wales abrid rugby league knockout and enjoy the game commentate it at a professional level and have a bit of fun along the way get the ginger and fox down to The Knockout get in early get us in there I’ll guarantee you watch your audience and you watch your viewing audience go through the roof um we’ll bring it if you bring us so there you go that’s a shout out to the big knockout um and talking about the big knockout we’re going to move straight into that this year over to you talk about it what do you want me to say where is it it is in baist and it’s hosted by The wac Wack whack um which is supported by no is it no limits no limits and and we started our own business we just called oursel the limit um so in saying that like these guys do great job they always always put on a great knockout don’t they mate the rose boys the No Limits crew people they know how to we have we have a bit we have a bit of fun you know like calling ourselves the limit um anyway the only the limit that we’ve ever is the limit when we look down at the scales but anyway um maximum we Max it out the thing I’m saying is these guys pull off one hell of a knockout they always have um they’ve gone now and branched out into the boxing you know the boxing arena great and absolutely braining it so as a business they’re doing really they’re doing massive things um the big thing I will say is that this year’s knockout and Baus will be one hell of a knockout yeah I will say this though and I hate to say it the last knockout I went to in baist yeah which I will never ever forget and I don’t it freezing cold it was rain four four days straight freeze and cold guess what it wasn’t they played they played the whole knockout um so the big thing in this is they’ve taken a leaf out of the foxy and Gingy podcast there is now a knockout podcast oh yeah yeah see a little bits in pie and I’ll tell you now I sat down and watched it and look not there’s no competition by the way guys not um I sat down and watch for the first time and I’m going to just be it’s interesting you know they they bring in a lot of old well I shouldn’t say old uh they bring in a lot of players past players that have played in The Knockouts they’re talking about the clubs they come from they’re talking about the participation um you know they’ve got Georgie hitting up the podcast you’ve got Dean Wht us um I’m not quite sure there’s another guy that’s on there as well but I will say this Georgie No Limits if you want to talk podcast you want to talk Knockouts get the gingi and fox invite us in we’ll fly down make fly us down we we sit us on that lounge and I’ll guarantee you we’ll give people an insight into The Knockout that you would never believe um we’ll talk about pass Knockouts we’ll talk about players we’ll talk about you know the teams will talk all we will and you look at me now I love The Knockouts that’s just but anyway invite us in guys get us down I guarantee you it would be one hell of a conversation and we’d love to be there but if we’re not there we’ll talk about the knockout anyway uh because that’s just what we do in our podcast so the big knockout going back to it baist baist October long week October long weekend get there watch some great footy 60 60 odd um teams men’s team men’s teams 20 25 odd women’s teams couple of junior age groups mate over over 150 odd teams over the October long weekend some of the best rugby league no the best rugby league you will ever see um and look that’s not audition on the NRL but I’ll guarantee you you will see all of these players that that indigenous players that play in the NRL I will guarantee you can go to them day in day out and ask them what some of the best football experiences they’ve ever had and you know what they’ll say playing in The Knockout um you know so you’ll see up and cominging kids Stars the Future Stars you know and there’s one that play that’s playing with your team now down there in um uh Newcastle the fullback the young fullback that’s playing with the Knights at the moment from M and die grasshoppers um oh uh Davey Armstrong Davey Armstrong m and d boy oh yeah um I watched him last year at the KO I’m pretty sure it was Davey and I’ll tell you what I I actually was asking the question who’s this kid the oh mate he’s he’s another good player but I could remember watching young Davy play in the junior division of The Knockouts there you go um and I actually I could go back I don’t know I I actually could have I had conversations outside of podcast with people saying these M andai kids in the future watch what they will do um and I I actually seen M andai last year and they were good and I think they’re going to get better with young kids like Davey and the rest of those kids that have come through I think they were playing under 16s and it was a lart over and those kids are they’re all men now um playing for mang andai and mate I think m grasshoppers um imagine that going out the M for a knockout wouldn’t that be that’ be good there one over there that would be good we make a couple I could remember Knockouts out at Burke camping in I used to hear all the stories about camping my camping we slept in we slept in a sheep yard um pitched up tents whatever the walot I set up a tent for two years in a row drove out there camped in my car one year with a bunch of mates the second year set up a tent next to the tennis courts the only tennis courts in wal good um set up a t set up a tent right next to that mate poor and Rain the night before but I’ll tell you they it wasn’t a wash out was it no and mate 10 to 15 bles that I played with and I played with the mor boomerangs 10 or 15 blocks that I played with all slept in in the tent surrounding that we didn’t pay to go and camp in the Caravan park because it was too full we went on the plan of final BAC beat us in the final bles like BL like Ricky wford BAC it’s actually well BAC is the is the for people that don’t know it’s it’s it’s walot BAC you know so they now call it wac but my memor is a BAC um but back in those days mate as I said 15 BLS I played with all camped in tents we made it through to Monday we made it through to Monday afternoon played played wal good in the final Wolford Williams um Ricky Walford uh mate bull Dennis mate some of the legends of the game out in walart you know toughest team I’ve ever played against by the way and I was like 16 or 17 years of age um it was actually my it was actually my first knockout in a senior uh I was 16 just turned 16 big Gingy in his first knockout the good thing about it is at the end of that unbeknown to me they picked an austr Aboriginal site um to tour um we toured Tonga oh Tonga so yeah but um and you know some of those players that played with me then that got selected you know Ricky Walford grahe lons um uh I could I have forget one of the legends of the game you know one of the enforcers you know in in Rambo Ronnie Gibbs you know like as a 16-year-old kid playing with Legends like that being picked out of a knockout and then being able to go on beyond that and then go on and make you know to go down there and and get a a start with NRL teams or Winfield Cup teams back in the day you know I went down to the dragons and had a bit of a stin down there but out of that those are memories I’ll never forget so you know the knockout is is is a wonderful thing R it on your calendar October long weekend B um get out there it’s going to be a great weekend and hopefully the weather gods look after you know the event as well The Knockout guys ahe rain ha or shine it’s the last knockout the the the Murray Carnival Murray Carnival I think it’s actually going to be the week after the the it’s either the week after or the week before the um the the the Cy the week before last year so that’s another knockout that that a lot of our players from our region all the bungang crew all go up to we got they got kids teams up there women’s teams I think they had 24 men’s teams last year the liso Knockouts actually bigger than it now um interesting l so um where where is it played this year do you know it’s always play at the same venue yeah at rff um so up at rff so the Mari Carnival supported by deadly choices do you think it’ll ever move up a bit further made it oh God I couldn’t say I remember I played in Townsville one year and you know it’s also supported by the Arthur beatson Foundation um so it’s it’s another but another knockout that actually assists and supports the development of young indigenous players both at the women’s and men’s um you know division to go through and further their careers as well so another good knockout the mar Carnival and what I might do is we’ll actually start to over the coming weeks we’ll contact a few people that are running these Knockouts and get them involved in a podcast and have a bit and Skype and get them in so that’s the Knockouts there you go done dust it so the last thing we got to finish off with is the wonderful shout outs couple shout outs I got a
