excellent round he matches Tony fow and Mark hubard six under 65 his lowest ground in a major t40 last year in his PGA Championship debut best finish is at a major is ninth at the 2023 Masters by the way he is quietly up to 12 in the official world golf rankings with more on saw let’s go down to Todd yeah he’s up to 12th after some close calls as you pointed out on the PGA tour this year and it’s funny he said I can’t really wrap my head around the fact that there are only 11 golfers on the planet that are better than me so is beautifully humble he’s trying to get better in his young career on the PGA tour and he had an interesting dilemma today he felt good all week but he woke up this morning heavily congested said his throat was hurting and he had body aches but still he went to the tea today played all 18 holes and he played with some discipline and some resilience and he talked about that round after signing his card it started off the week with allergies um and then I think wednes or Tuesday I started feeling sore throat and just achy and I was like oh God I hope it’s just allergies but uh it’s kind of everything um and know so I don’t sound great energy is just a little low body’s aching a little bit but honestly it was so nice teing it up today cuz got a little rush of adrenaline and it honestly felt pretty good out there uh I know my speeds are a lot slower right now but it kind of kept me in play a lot more and um hitting it really straight so um just trying to survive off the go golf course and once I get on the golf course it’s kind of my happy place even when I’m sick when you’re physically going through something like this and you’re playing at a big spot like the PGA Championship do you have to sharpen your focus a little more yeah I think it kind of naturally just seemed to happen that way this time and um it’s so funny how that works cuz even in college a couple times I was sick I had my best best tournaments and best rounds ever and there’s there’s a heightened level of of focus I think that no matter how hard you drone you’re not you just don’t have it it’s that little adrenaline push or whatever it is it’s you know it’s it it kind of happens with everyone and uh yeah it’s just I’m just thankful that um you know I felt really good when I hit that first t- shot and and uh just went from there just didn’t even think about it at at that point now this afternoon he went home to his rental home here went to bed took a lot of Gatorade watched some golf he’s hoping to feel better tomorrow for the second round which you’ll be going off in the afternoon by the way this is not only the not the only health issue I should say in regards to sah two weeks ago he said he violently sat down in a golf cart and slipped a rib near his shoulder blade in his back and after some adjustments from his chiropractor he started feeling better he did play the Wells Fargo Championship and over the weekend he said he got to 100% with that rib
