they’re fantastic they’re soft they’re versatile they’re comfortable great for playing golf there’s also great for lounging around the house I don’t know why I don’t do this more often but uh if you hoodies and more with code nlu support the partners they’re going to be bringing you a lot a lot a lot of content uh so far this week happy hour edition we’re going to get around to a bunch of different stuff try not to dive too deep into too many topics hopefully you guys got a chance to read Kevin Van valkenberg piece on Victor hlin that came out today he’s going to join us uh at some point in the show here to talk a little bit about that and what it was like uh digging into what Victor Holland’s got going on we’re going to give you some holes to watch of course make our FanDuel picks of the week uh you know we got a lot of important stuff to get to but the first most important thing we can possibly cover TC how do you pronounce the name of the city that they’re having the PGA Championship in s i put this on the agenda because I don’t know I wanted to hear you guys say it is it is it lville is it louville Lille Randy I’ll go to you first cuz you you grew up the closest it’s not number one or number three I’ll tell you that cuz I don’t know what the hell that was we know it’s not Louisville there’s actually uh I think it’s a good joke the joke goes you know how do you pronounce the capital of Kentucky is it Louisville or Lewisville and people are like I don’t know they’ll pick one and you say actually it’s Frankfurt um but Louisville I think the key to Louisville is you just gotta like kind of like that frog in my throat at the beginning of the show you just you pronounce the L and then you just try to swallow as many letters as possible L Lille you know just just it’s just really throy TC big Nancy Reagan Vibes going on here I think it’s it’s Louisville Louisville that’s what not Louisville that’s what I probably called it when I was a kid but it’s Louisville that’s what it is so you just I’m going with L lville lville okay I’m gonna hold you to that though if you’re gonna call that out we’re gonna I’m you have to stick to that for the whole rest of the week so uh we’re gonna start things with a little game guys I just found four somewhat interesting characters players of some kind this week you know could be somebody I think could have a chance to win somebody maybe flying under the radar somebody that’s not flying under the radar but just want to see if you guys can uh can filter the way through and and figure out who these players are first one up okay I’m gonna give you five facts about this player can you tell me who this player is this is the easiest one so I hope you get this one uh I’ve finished top five in Majors six different times I’m in the 99th centile in approach play from the Fairway over 200 yards Andre shley damn it come on I’m in the that was the easiest one I’m in the 96th percentile and approach from R From the Rough from over 150 yards uh my best finish in a PGA Championship is tied for 10th and I finished top 10 in the US Open in six of the last seven years um that you know what that tells me TC you have been listening when I’ve been using my Daya golf stats to to point that out about Xander so thank you for that S I was I was gonna say Xander even after you said the first I didn’t even need the second one I just waited out of courtesy well that’s one point for TC zero for Randy what what what percentile does Xander’s dog rank uh 12ti it’s 12th so far this year actually it’s down a little bit from 44th uh in a prior Year all got euthanized uh I want to I want to see data golf get into the the uh baseball Savant sliders if if you Baseball fans out there will know what I’m referring to um all right next up I’m this is six different facts about this guy I’m 99th percentile in approach play from over 150 yards out of the rough which I think will come into play this week I’m 98th percenti and approach play from under 150 out of the rough uh 94th from the Fairway over 200 yards 92nd from 150 to 200 so a lot of major championship uh approach play bonafides I have 10 top 10 in majors and I’m 90 to one to win this week who am i h so they’re gonna get a little harder team Rose NOP is not team Rose somebody we’ve talked a lot about a lot about 90 to one 10 top 10 in Majors I don’t know why I’m thinking Ricky but Tommy he’s not 90 to one large tone Milton fenale big tone big tone 90 to one to win and some some strong supporting facts not been his best year Putter’s not been very good uh but just pointing that one out I was I’m glad I stumped you guys with that one because I was jumping off a little bit to me all right this one you only get four guesses uh four facts on this one and this one is on the easier side compared to that one uh I finished top five at Oak Hill last year I finished top five at Harding Park I’m plus 2800 to win this week cam young nope and I’m data golf’s number one course fit for Valhalla I get the biggest boost to my playing Prof to my playing profile uh at Valhalla it is not hav I’ll give you each one more guess if you want Colin morawa not a bad guess but let’s see if anybody in the nobody in the chat oh one person two people in the chat H three people in the chat are a lot smarter than you guys don’t look at the chat you’re not allowed to be looking Bry and D Shambo is the answer to that one okay Crush interesting interesting uh last one again don’t be looking at the chat um I’m 80 to one to win this week I’ve played in two pgaas and I’ve finished runner up in T8 um my average Strokes gained in Majors is a half shot better per round than Brooks Kea uh and only Scotty and tiger are better than me and Majors on a per round basis 80 to one 80 to one Meo Pereira weird weird guess that’s felt very wrong week he what are you talking about what I was going off what were the finishing one he’s played in like two and he’s finished runner up and something else rner up two’s got to be yeah that’s why I was thinking me can’t because this is his first this second major total ever cam young how many has he played in the answer cam young or zalot torus it’s zalot torus is the answer Willie Z obviously the injuries you know causing a bit of problems you know with him but again just those just four guys that I that I that were that were jumping off on some facts there um to me so always a fun game it’s fun to watch you guys work through that um couple news stories of the week first one off the top of course the biggest news of the week uh that Rory mroy has filed for divorce from his wife Erica uh this news came out on Monday uh Monday or Tuesday or it was yesterday actually sorry it was on Tuesday um what guys I find this one tough to react to and talk about it’s obviously a big story he did a press conference today he was uh you know he requested that he was not going to speak on it and his statement yesterday said he was not gonna not going to speak on it um and uh his press conference was short today it was about half the length of of other press conferences from what I read but what what does this mean anything for this Championship what’s your guys kind of reaction to this it’s obviously weird when you we’re not gonna dive deep on this we’re not going to speculate on all this uh it’s a weird one to glance past but uh just kind of curious if you guys have any anything to add on this I think I mean it’s easy to say oh my God like what has this changed for this week I mean clearly he’s been this is something that’s been percolating for a while and like in his personal sphere so it’s you know maybe it’s maybe it’s a good thing for this week maybe it’s a relief for him maybe it feels like a sense of finality I don’t know I don’t want to psychoanalyze him but all I’m saying is it’s like this isn’t something new that he’s considering this week it’s it’s been you know obviously I would assume going on in the in the background for for a while now unless you know I doubt he just woke up on Monday and was like you know what I don’t like you I want to divorce um so yeah I mean maybe you know we we’ve talked about how it affects the block party potentially NE and all those guys I think if anything it’s like the the course is going to feel like a refuge for him this week it’s feel like a safe haven he’s coming off of a win obviously all this stuff was going on when he was at Quail Hollow too you know and he obviously played well so and all that goes without saying like the obvious personal considerations of all this it’s you know we’re not going to psychoanalyze that or or break that down and and and talk about that here we’re a golf show but uh you know it is it is rain do you have anything to add on top of what TC pointed out no I was biting my tongue I was gonna insert a Caroline wasaki joke about Rory maybe he did just wake up and decide that um well that happened the last time I know that’s what I mean that’s what I mean yeah you feel for the kid obviously there’s a kid involved so that um is just another consideration but I obviously I don’t know anything and so I nothing really to add here Sly I would say only other thing to add just shout out to all like the ghoulish ghoulish posts from like golf week that was like Hey like yeah like bad news but here’s here’s 10 pictures of them you know during their marriage having fun it was like the thing that they posted from like the the the you know FedEx St Jude classic where it was like oh like here’s here’s a bunch of kids you know having having fun but they’re also they off cancer you know it’s like what are you guys doing I feel like we like are weirdly back in a 2014 Time Warp uh over this past like with going back to Valla it just feels like uh yeah that was a very 2014 Golf Digest move of of doing a slideshow of them over the years but um we’ll we’ll cover this a little bit later um you know Jimmy Dunn announced he was leaving the board of the PGA Tour big item though on the agenda we got to you know address one of the biggest news items of the week Tiger’s got a goatee uh is he pulling it off like is this is this working for for for CAD or does it does it date him a little bit Randy I listen I don’t think it’s terrible uh I don’t think it’s his best look so I’m I’m somewhere in between which is I feel like almost the worst place to be for anybody um it’s it’s fine it’s uh you know I don’t know Tiger’s not the most fashionable guy so I feel like everything he does is just kind of like yeah yeah may you know maybe but yeah I don’t know either get it really full and thick and and give us something to really work with or let’s just shave it and and go back to kind of how we know tiger he could be prepping for macdaddy Santa which that’s true and you know maybe it’s macdaddy Santa in July I who knows but uh yeah I think he’s got to decide are we keeping it or is it going because right now it’s cut himself shaving I think too which was you know that’s not good but yeah he looks like he’s you know he’s just deep in a midlife crisis right he’s got his new Sunday red thing he’s got all that it’s just you know he’s got all his board responsibilities now I feel like my guy’s midlife crisis is going on a decade now it’s sick he doesn’t want to be Ridder Cup captain because he don’t have time don’t know we have time to go to Home Depot it’s just a really busy Saturday um a little bit on the golf course guys we talked a lot of in our preview here um you know we didn’t get into too much detail Hole by hole I just want to I want to know what hole for each of you has you the most excited to watch for whatever reason this week it’s a you know not the most architecturally sound golf course not GNA be the most inspirational golf course we all think uh at least I I’m of the belief that it’s going to provide a good stage for a championship for a variety of reasons here even if it’s not my favorite style of architecture but TC what’s a ho that’s got you excited to watch some golf this week 133 it’s this just it’s so outrageous like it’s it doesn’t even looks like something out of golden tea uh it like like the green is so unnaturally raised You Got That Rock Wall the waterfall don’t really make sense uh you know like having bunkers 40 yards into the rough on top of other bunkers uh I don’t know I did the whole by hole toalla and I’m like like yeah man like there’s some cool stuff out there and I’m excited to see some of these SE guys hit their shots but also I’m like man there’s some bad go really really bad shaping I do remember though from like 2000 was that the or I guess 96 like whenever we first saw Valhalla this hole because it was so much like golden tea I think I it kind of like melted my mind you know there was a time when I was like oh my like this is the coolest golf hole totally ever yeah and that that and then there there’s like the the the alternate Fairway what’s that on seven or something seven the par five yeah and even like that little alternate landing area on 18 like I I think 18’s objectively like a great finishing hle I golf I do know but going back to what we talked about earlier this week on on the preview show like I feel like I’m watching a member like a member guest with a bunch of fans at Valhalla where it just looks like somewhere that like you would see in your town that it’s Nicholas design you would see in your town and like looks outrageous yeah yeah 13 does crack me man it’s uh yeah it it’s going to be it’s a tough week for the discourse right I mean there are a ton of fans probably ton of listeners to this show and a ton of people tuning in to watch on television that don’t share the same architectural interest that a lot of us do in in watching competitive golf that we’ll have no idea why there might be critiques at this golf course and we just gotta kind of ride with it this this week uh I I’m again I’m still very excited for this Championship it just uh this this it’s not about the canvas it’s about the paint P this week you know oh I like that feel me you feel me on that Randy I feel you bu uh I’m going to go to the very next hole TC uh another sound I think this is a really sound golf hole the T has gone back on the 14th hole the par three uh it plays a little bit uphill I believe it’s like 255 yards um with a you know kind of a can kind of an opening near the front left of the green kind of canting uh you know towards the back right part of the green hero like you know the more you try to bite off the the tougher the carry that right side and you can’t just Bomb It long left because there’s bunkers uh back there it’s just really really difficult hole um and it’s it’s I don’t know I’m I really enjoy I I got to play here five years ago with DJ we went and uh and played here in the fall and this was like one of the most thrilling shots to hit on the course and is it like a reverse Redan kind of a little bit I mean a little bit uh it’s you you got to hit the right number you got to hit the ball High I mean I’m guessing we see some seven Woods uh on this hole this week um I’m assuming it’s going to be somewhat of a popular play because I think that’s what the club they’re trying to put in there because it’s it’s playing longer now than it has in the past um and gosh it’s just a nowhere to hide uh you know long part three back nine part three so um it’s been a it’s been a key hole in the past if you rewatch any of the the prior the 2000 and the 2014 uh Rider cup or I’m sorry 2008 Rider Cup 2014 PGA like it’s been a pretty decisive Hole uh kind of like the way 17 at Whistling Straits plays both in PJ and Ryder cups as well like you got to hit one last big long iron on the back nine not a lot of variety out there no there’s not this would be listen this would be the uh maybe the the fifth worst hole on a you know more architecturally style golf course but that’s fine that’s fine we’re fine we’re moving past it Randy what what else got you excited well I thought this was kind of a one whole draft and TC got 13 at at you know number one so pretty quick yeah I went I went though with um with hole number uh number four and I I wanted shout out a couple things one it’s a shorter par 4 which is going to be rare out here this week uh the scoring average in 2014 was like 3731 so definitely a birdie Hole uh mind that bird I wanted to give a shout out to these hole names mind that bird TC I don’t know if you remember the 2009 Kentucky Derby when mind that bird was a 50 to1 long shot uh Calvin Burell was the jockey had trouble getting out of the gates was eight Paces behind the rest of the field and ends up winning by nearly seven lengths um that was an awesome awesome Kentucky Derby I remember mind that bird uh I think $2 would have would have won you like $103 on a on a win so I love the name of the hole I I think it’s an apply named hole in the sense that hey uh the fourth hole good birdie chance you can get your you can potentially get your round out and running you know you can get downhill a little bit as you go into the the meat and the teeth of the rest of the golf course so wanted to shout that one out was on my list too Randy and that’s when they moved up in on Saturday in 2014 and made it driveable and uh it’s kind of one one final dig on valal if you if you’ll just let me one of my favorites is when they just take like a relatively Bland hole and move the tea up and call it a great driveable par 4 just because it’s driveable I hope I hope they do it again but it was like a three-w to to the green and uh Rory kind surprising because that’s kind of normally like Nicholas is calling card like he’s he’s made some that’s that’s one of the things he does quite well a variety of his courses yeah uh what don’t we bring in um make a quick call to the bullpen for some middle relief maybe get a couple Innings here uh out of him Neil wanted to be here sorry this not Neil calling in here it’s kvv Neil wanted to be here but he is uh setting up for the block party it’s a different like he said a different vibe uh to the party so it’s h takes an extra day of setting up but he will be uh CAU in his stripper pole this year hi hi haters who expecting Neil it’s just me also shout out to Neil real quick he qualified for the uh was it the met midam the publink no the publ publinks yeah the Met publinks uh in New York this morning which is discriminatory because they don’t allow they don’t allow TC to play certain people to play Just well it’s funny because I think Neil you know he plays all his golf around New York at the Tony uh private country clubs w great shout out great shout out to Neil guys KV welcome yeah I thank you he is here to talk to us a bit about uh again I mentioned off the top he wrote an incredible uh long form feature on uh VI titled Victor havin is searching for his old self uh look how did this piece kind of evolve from the time you decided you wanted to write about havin to the time we published it Kevin you know back when Victor was like a top three player in the world we were kicking around ideas in the fall uh kind of certainly after the FedEx cup and going into the rider cup and uh I think all of us were sort of in some of those discussions like boy you know I feel like I don’t know quite enough about Victor havin it’d be great to sort of profile him and so I I was like basically I’m gonna Shadow him at the rider cup a bunch and just try to build some scenes and we’ll you know get this piece out at some point uh before one of the majors uh in the spring and Mand did it changed dramatically over the course of the time that uh we were following him around it quickly became clear even at Pebble uh when we were first sort of you know connected when I went up to him and asked him would love for you to talk about this uh and it was clear he had a lot going on he was struggling pretty hard initially already with uh you know coming off being so good to all of a sudden like spending five and six hours on the Range just didn’t make a lot of sense and kind of a light bulb started to go off my head and be like whoa this is a different story than what I thought it was going to be this is someone who is very much still searching for something so that’s uh kind of what the beginning of the evolution of it anything anything in there you know once you started reporting that that kind of surprised you I mean you uncovered a lot of nuggets and I don’t want to spoil the whole thing if people haven’t read but first interview that Joe Mayo has done uh since he he and Victor havin split up brandle shamble dropped some heat in there on instruction in general and kind of just the art of instruction yeahh anything that that surp what surprised you most honestly it was that hav excuse me that Mayo was willing to talk was willing to sort of explain his side of things and really instead of a sort of a hit him up situation pointed the finger back at himself and said I have to do a lot of reflection and I think I’m a big reason why you know Victor wanted to part ways because I’m a lot I’m intense compared himself to Bobby Knight said as kind of like players playing in Indiana and just sort of said it’s a lot to take over the course of a year I’m I’m too intense and I’ve realized that about myself and you a lot of way that felt like way more interesting than if he had been sort of you know shitty to to Victor if he had been fighting over money he you know was swore up and down there was absolutely none of that uh and so you know that I think the best stories I think are always kind of nuanced they’re really not black and white and that’s where I think like they could both look at this situation and see that they were both a little bit to blame for the current situation and the state of Victor do you think like like gu Victor too far gone like is it is it is this a slump or or is and and he’ll be fine or is he is he gone like what what do you think I think this my number one pick man give me some good news here I actually don’t think he’s gone uh I think you know he was in a bad space as of even a week ago even after the piece came out I had a a sort of one of our Norwegian followers send me a a link to an interview where he’s basically like I’m my swing is just garbage it’s totally lost I feel completely lost I was like man I would have loved to seen that like before we ran this piece but it’s almost like confirms you know everything that I’ve heard but I do think uh I actually I think I have a little bit of uh sort of updated news here I got a a text from someone uh and I I got it confirmed just about a few minutes ago that he and Mayo are actually working together again they were spotted at TC Summerland just yesterday uh working for hours and hours uh that they have sort of reconnected and they’re sort of you know trying to figure this out so uh it’s that’s kind of a wild sort of thing considering you know the the state of things that have gone on in the last few months and how quickly Victor bounces from place to place but I think you know they were so good together that I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a good you know if he had a good tournament this week just because it’s like getting tapping into some of those old good vibes wait so that’s breaking that’s breaking news truly breaking news literally just got it confirmed like probably a minute before we jumped on the air here just break who knew we could start breaking news like this on the live show hold on was he not at Valhalla practicing like was he was not at Valhalla at the first part of the week he was out in Vegas working you know not allegedly like working with mayo so according to several people who saw him practicing with mayo kvv I I had a question uh you know these these long form pieces they obviously take a lot of time a lot of reporting and for somebody like Victor so much can change any day as we just learned you know late breaking yeah uh did you feel like there was anything left let’s call it like a director’s cut did did anything get left on the on the on the cutting room floor and if so anything to share that would be pertinent uh for the happy hour at least yeah I mean I think a lot of times with these stories what’s most important is to sort of understand that they they can’t be about 10 things they need to be about like one or two things at most that that’s an important you’re telling a story here but I did hear throughout the sort of course of this reporting a lot of discussion about just uh how angry Victor was when the framework agreement was announced and there was a sort of call amongst the players that he was like visibly upset in a way that I think three different people confirmed it that he was just like almost shouting at the various people about how angry he was and frustrated he was and it wasn’t because he sort of I think felt like he wanted to go to live and he had missed out on a bunch of money but because he felt this real sense of betrayal from the leadership and was just so pissed about having you know any of their sort of power taken away from them or their sort of you know ability to make their own decisions and this stuff i’ I’ve heard from a couple people that he’s just not interested in the live stuff that uh you know this could easily come back to bite me saying this but this is what I have heard is that he very much dislikes it every time somebody floats a rumor that uh he’s he’s tired of denying it and that he just really wants to freaking play golf like all he cares about is like playing good golf in history he truly doesn’t care about money and he’s all out of history books to read yeah so you know it’s I think it’s an interesting insight into who he is now does that mean he you know wouldn’t entertain Liv probably not I think we’ve seen that from people who’ve said this but privately he’s telling people he just he absolutely loathes it and just wants to figure out how to like win golf tournament skin and to him that’s like 72 old stroke play events he should get the Norwegian Sovereign wealth fund to to create a a rival Lively you think Norway’s got some some wind power that they can throw behind this and their Investments that they oh they got massive I’ve been I’ve been deep on on uh God that’s sick on my guy’s podcast the uh the head of the Norwegian Sovereign wealth fund has a has a uh a podcast and he has all sorts of Business Leaders and luminaries on you are so connected to the world stage I’m so appreci these guys keep outing themselves as not trap draw listeners you know I hate it incredible I you know I try to keep up I’m too busy like you know trying to script my own episodes of the Trap draw here and there you know I feel like you know we need maybe need weekly chop sessions for me to stay informed yeah yeah nobody needs that we’re going to be on for another 30 I got one thing before he gets out of here Kev this is the first time that I’ve ever seen any sort of long form or or feature written piece take place and being able to like see you put all of these ingredients together and come up with it at first I thought you were like just borderline stalking Vic because you’re you say that he was on the driving range for hours and hours and hours you would just stand behind him like a dog just stalking him waiting you never know is this caddy gonna turn around and make eye eye contact is he going to turn around or any of these you know the rest of the Entourage or anything else I pray that like their Vision was based on movement so like if he wasn’t looking he would get a step closer and then just like a step closer but never when they were looking at you and just kept getting closer and closer it takes a that’s a really great Point Cody it it was truly impressive watching you put this whole thing together and something that I’ve learned a ton from uh and you know that’s why you got your big J you know card and the rest of us don’t because I’m just shocked at like wow this is what really good written work looks like and this is the time it takes to put into it well thanks you got to be able to live in uncomfortable spaces and sometimes that’s just like waiting out people who you know kind of don’t want to talk to you and you’re basically like yeah I’m not leaving until you turn around and make eye contact with me and so you know at Pebble I was I was there for basically probably two three hours like standing around like I’d take a little walk here and there but I’d always come back to him I mean you have to you guys need more coffee no just keep standing there if you’re going to write 6,000 words about somebody you have to give them the chance to uh to speak on it to participate in it and he basically was like yeah you know I don’t I don’t really want to I’m not really interested at the moment uh you know kind of maybe kind of go through the my agency if you’re interested and they made it clear that he was not taking any interview requests so he was super polite and I told him look I’m gonna write the story whether you participate or not so just wanted to give you a heads up and he’s like well I respect that thank you for uh you know coming up to me and stuff and you know I don’t think there’s anything he would find upsetting in the story I think it’s VI it’s all true you know it’s all based on conversations I’ve had with lots of people and he’s an intense person uh I think the really insightful quote in there Rory said everybody thinks he’s like this happy go-lucky Jolly guy and like that’s true but he also has this super intense side in him and the difference between most people is that they’re either one or the other it’s rare for someone to have both like they’re a good person and they’re also a killer kvv uh tells this story on the Trap draw owners episode that that drops overnight tonight about waiting out Sammy Sosa at spring training one year so I mean Sosa blew you off like six days in a row or something that is correct yes did he pretend you didn’t speak English when you when you finally got him uh he that but he yeah listen to the Trap draw it’s a good one but it at the end of it does involve him almost giving me the Heisman right to the face well congratulations again Kev and thanks for all the hard work that went to that and if you haven’t already got a chance to read that uh please go ahead and find that on noling up.com and uh we’ll see you later this week uh as we cover the PGA take care good thanks guys uh there is a lot to to not like uh about wearing sunscreen on the golf course gets on your hands it compromises your grip your hands get all slippery your skin feels greasy and sticky you smell like a banana it’s a pain to carry around it might spill all over your golf bag it stings when it drips in your eye keep going but I won’t because ores and Alps has made it their mission to create sunscreen that eliminates those problems golfers are 250% more likely to get skin care so this kind of stuff matters arm yourself this season with sunscreen that’s designed for the course with hands-free spray options lightweight and fast absorbing formulas refreshing scents and travel sizes you’ll actually look forward to using them for a limited time you get 15% off ores and Alps entire line of powerful clean sunscreen and skincare with code nl5 again that’s nl5 uh for uh to get 15% off ores and Alps entire line of clean sunscreen we thank them for sponsoring guys I mean I got to use sunscreen you know I got to use a whole bottle of sunscreen every time I sunscreen shampoo that’s how you travel TC and I want to say uh 250% more likely to get skin cancer not to actually purchase a the skincare line uh so just yeah just want to make sure that this is how important it is we we we play we love this game we’re outside all the time protect yourself people why not do it with something that smells uh good and and overall is as clean as it possibly can be for you if you’re sticking your neck out like kbv make sure that you got sunscreen on that neck protect neck protect your neck we got uh some fun interesting kind of pre-tournament quotes going around uh I I don’t really really want to relitigate much of the uh the live conversation as it relates to this but I got to say having a live from a live desk on site to kind of react to to live press conferences and stuff led to some really good content from John RS uh presser he said um see you guys keep saying the other side but I’m still a PGA Tour member whether suspended or not I still want to support the PGA Tour and I think that’s an important distinction to make I don’t feel like I’m on the other side I’m just not playing there uh which led aan Lynch to say uh it’s not often you hear the arsonist give advice to the firefighters on how to extinguish the Blaze and start asking when they can move back in the house uh really enjoyed that quote from aan uh and then Aaron oberol sir he Aaron overol is mad as hell Randy he’s mad and yeah he is I think got we got the clip here if we could play eron’s reaction reaction he doesn’t get it he to this day he doesn’t get it and this is a guy who wanted a position or wanted to be heard from what I understand either a board position policy board he wanted to be heard on this whole thing before he went to live and I I feel like he wasn’t as heard as much as he probably should have been and now I’m glad he wasn’t in that position cuz he doesn’t get it as a PGA Tour player and as a PJ tour member still a card carrying PJ tour member and someone who supports the PGA Tour uh not happy with what’s going on right now obviously but supports the PGA Tour I’m I’m in I’m I’m insens by that quite honestly by that by the by the level to your point to of naiv that you don’t get it you still don’t get it you took 500 large and then you’re going to sit there and tell me oh you still feel like a PJ tour remember I want to support the PJ tour and I want the p i I mean I want to I want to ring his neck through the television I’m that mad right right now I’m that mad I mean and every player in that locker room right now if they watch that should be on the PJ tour should be absolutely incensed with him oh God large this quote in the chat from PB 33 is oer holster gonna have to choke a [ __ ] Randy you had a pretty good uh pretty good point though it is more often than you think that the arsonist does get does get ass yeah yeah I I was like well that’s the way our financial systems worked here in the United States for uh for as long as I can remember but um yeah I I mean what a reaction there so you’re exactly right we we don’t get that type of cander that’s content right there baby that’s good content yeah yeah I I don’t even care if you don’t agree with Aaron on that like that’s content have a take don’t suck get in there in out get grab Bonk hit people with it hard maybe don’t threaten to put your hands around a guy’s neck I maybe I wouldn’t have gone that far that’s sick maybe it wouldn’t have gone that far but that was a great great bit uh and just having everybody around the desk to react to it again we don’t need to litigate I think we probably know where most of us dead out on that but that was that was some good content that stuff too that stuff stems from having people on site right stems from you know like you said s like you know that energy and that sense of of excitement you know being there uh I also hope I hope over holer wants to put his hands around Monahan’s neck too like I hope that’s you know he’s he’s not’s he’s mad as hell about what’s going on with the PGA Tour as well so hopefully that’s that’s translating through to the global home too because you know you can be mad at Rah but you know Rah also you know left for a particular set of reasons as well antie F’s tweet RAM on the PGA tour frankly I don’t know what the big deal is I wanted an open marriage even though she said no after I slept with someone else on that work trip to New York she changed the locks yes we’re currently separated but I still consider myself her husband uh that was that was that was well done so uh Randy do you have a a pre-tournament quote to tickled your fancy well you know just tiger anytime tiger gets in front of the mic you’re never quite sure what you’re gonna get um I think the part specifically when when he was asked about Jimmy Dunn and and the ongoing negotiations with the piff uh tiger quickly went into it’s all in the police report you know uh I I think he wasn’t sure if he was getting deposed or what um but I guess just just a couple of q& A’s back and forth uh the question was asked to Tiger given the news that Jimmy Dunn said there’s been no meaningful progress made on the divide and Gulf right now what’s your level of confidence that the agreement will get done at all much less on any kind of schedule tiger I think I think we’re working on negotiations with piff it’s ongoing it’s fluid it changes dayto day I love that te that’s you know that’s our go-to on the chop session we’re monitoring things are moving quickly uh has there been progress yes tiger says but it’s an ongoing negotiation so a lot of work ahead uh we’re making steps and it may not be Giant Steps but we’re making progress and then it kind of gets into Okay Tiger just following up on that he’s asked what are specific things that you would like to see for a deal to go ahead and are you personally open to a deal with the Saudis to which tiger said well I’m not going to comment on whether or not our negotiations and in that nature except that we’re making steps that’s all I can say and then he was asked are you personally open to it Tiger Wood says I’m personally involved in the process so it’s just again like yes tiger thank you thank you for telling us nothing and telling us everything that we already knew um he just uh he’s a treat not in the sense that he’s giving us anything really but just his whole you know his whole deal up there I forget who in our slack City treats a press conference like I think it was Kevin Kevin said he treats it like as a deposition it’s like that’s pretty perfect that’s pretty perfect exactly he’s just trying to be Ranger Rick out there in the boardroom that’s what it is he’s he loves giving us quotes too about like the most obvious things about golf of like yeah just can’t like walk four rounds it’s like well that’s kind of a prerequisite to playing tournament golf it’s like yeah yeah just I mean so competitively Rusty it’s like yeah but you don’t play any tournaments of course you’re competitively Rusty man what you what do you think was going to happen here which did you feel like that was a big deal because he did say he uh I I feel like for him to even acknowledge that there’s he’s he’s not as sharp as he wants to be I forget his exact wording in that part but um I feel like we’re starting to see a little shift in Tiger where like old Tiger never would have even given us that much vulnerability I don’t think going back that’s where I say like go play harbort toown go play Colonial go play some of these courses you can actually listen to me TC he’s D doesn’t have any time he’s got no time he’s busy he in all these board meetings TC what was uh the most interesting pre-tournament uh quotes for you I thought spe Smith and Max both had interesting stuff spei was saying like oh like you know like things are actually going great guys like everybody keeps painting it like they’re not going great but they’re going great like and you know if everybody would just shut up and so then that led into max saying some things I felt like he was there was some some sub tweeting there us or you know other people in the media of you know how how golf’s doing great you know he like I read it he did make a point to say professional golf’s not doing great we need to get some of these people you know kind of in the boat with golf and then we’ll get him on a professional golf once everything gets solved so I appreciated that um but I did think Max had hey he said something about he doesn’t think the public should know who the uh player directors on the board are which I thought was really interesting uh and then I think he just meant like you you guys shouldn’t be like talking this should be like front of mine in your guys world like this should be taken care of behind the scenes like this shouldn’t be like your concern as to who’s coming on the board who’s who’s coming off and honestly like it wouldn’t be a big concern if the tour had any sort of communication strategy or just any sort of competence at all and like people were like all right you know what like they got it handled we don’t need to talk about this we’ll talk about the golf it’s the opposite right so um but I thought Max had something really uh really preent to say about uh kind of the the atmosphere and the identity of the PGA Championship as far as kind of how it relates to the other majors and and the setup and the identity that’s taken on he said yeah I like it it’s it’s actually kind of the old model of the US Open but a bit easier typically hasn’t been super firm from T to Green it’s incredibly similar what the old us opens were maybe a little bit more forgiving Fairways but really thick rough a lot of drivers that that need to be in the fairways it feels like to score the biggest difference is it feels like at pga’s you’re in the Fairway you can score you can go pretty low the the US open’s gone to a slightly different model which I like it’s a lot more they have kind of leaned into firm and fast um a lot more a lot more Fairway grass a lot more strategy I feel like the PGA don’t in a way don’t have as much strategy but it tests skill a lot it’s like a you really need to strike the ball well kind of get away with it even at the US opens because it’s so hard that that that skill almost shifts to short game and patience and a grinder mentality so I thought that was interesting where he said basically it’s an execution test it’s not a strategy or like a fully rounded golf test which I think speaks to like you know some of Brooks right of like Brooks is really good at hitting the shots at hand right it seems like seems like Vic might be another candidate for that as well of like just hitting the shots in front of you maybe lvic you know so um you know and I think Rory’s gotten better at strategy over the years but you know this kind of speaks to some of his success at PGA championships prior was you know just pin your ears back hit it really far you know probably going to be in the Fairway and then if your approach game’s tidy You’re Gonna Play well so yeah it’s it’s I mean what would you say is like 75% at least of golf Watchers probably don’t care if it’s a strategic test or a um you know execution test probably I mean again that’s the stuff like we geek out about a lot but I’m guessing a lot of people that are going to tune in or probably won’t you know won’t hear that and hear something that like makes it it’s not it’s not Nails on a chalkboard to me but it’s kind of like that’s exact literally what we’re talking about totally it’s a bummer I think it’s also probably a reaction to some of the venues as well that these aren’t inherently strategic venues right but you know at the end of the day I think the identity of the PGA back in the 90s early 2000s was like this is kind of a shootout it’s it’s going to be a great finish it’s going to be exciting as hell there’s going to be a bunch of birdies and many of those years this was the most exciting major so from an entertainment perspective I can’t really I can’t really argue with them right I hear that um we have uh I really I don’t know when to get to this we have we could do it every night if we wanted to we’re going to be on ESPN 2 tomorrow we can do it then if you want uh as well Randy but talked about it it’s been alluded to a fair Mount over the years it’s Valhalla week I I just I just want to just to be clear I want to make sure we have this documented you state your case and just to know if we’re in a bit or if we’re in a serious world when you say Tiger’s t-shot in 2000 at Valhalla was it kicked back down the hill back towards the tea by a person uh was there Mal Fein in play I just I want I want to hear your case here well I think suly I’ll answer your your question with uh not quite a full answer but I’ll say I’m I’m extremely confident that we don’t know know and because we don’t know we can’t rule it out okay are you are you are you will you meet me there or are you saying 100% definitively that there was nothing nefarious going on with that golf ball I’d say there’s over 99% chance that there was nothing nefarious going on with that are you serious I would say that there’s like a 97% chance that there absolutely was something nefarious going on with that golf ball did you read the be piece I did inconclusive where they said the ball bounced out of the Heather so again that to me that would say that somebody would have have been standing in the Heather and not be seen by anyone throw the ball back into play and roll it down the hill this is 24 years later s okay so yeah the beel piece uh he had a great piece uh Golf Digest earlier this week he he talks to a couple people that were there at the tournament I’ll say Toc it it’s a bit strange that I guess they’ve manipulated that area of land where the ball you know where where all this took place if you are going to try to cover something up I I would think yeah messing with the landscape and and the you know the features there would would be a good thing to do um you know I I I just go by Jim Nance kenin chur in the moment they they certainly thought there was something nefarious that happened to I I don’t know if guy that runs down the hill is it that guy or is it someone else well we don’t know I definitely don’t think it’s that guy like that that wouldn’t make any sense to me what Chris B in the comments says was was it Denny McCarthy in the bush that’s a good question we simply don’t know the answers to these things so don’t know what he has while I’m not I’m not willing to say with a 100% certainty that I know the ball was messed with I’m also I I can’t say we know definitively and so I like to believe that it was messed with personally and I think there’s strong evidence to support that position okay we can litigate it further this week I think we can litigate it on ESPN because we have access to the footage when we’re on ESPN too right that’s right we can I wish there yeah it wouldn’t be as fun if there was another angle I I was about to say I wish there was another angle so we would know but uh we wouldn’t be able to do this if that was the case um let’s get to our uh our picks of the week and then we got a couple questions we can we can round out with TC’s got a little segment we want to get to but want to make sure we get to this and uh I know Cody’s got us on a strict onh hour uh time schedule here but um uh I I can go first if that helps but uh my my pick of the week it answers one of the questions I actually didn’t know this news about havin getting back together with mayo but it doesn’t change my opinion on this my FanDuel pick of the week of course odd subjects to change but he’s in a straight matchup against TL Hatton I’m just I’m just selling hin right I’m taking T Hatton wow minus 105 uh over H did you guys read that piece like this is this is not this is not happening I know T doesn’t really do a whole lot in Majors but he kind of at least make the cut hang around somewhere uh so I I’d be I’m hitting I’m hitting T Hatton in a straight up bet minus 105 over Victor hin over 72 holes it could have been anyone in this spot and I I think I would have taken him I’m buying Victor this week really yeah yeah I mean not to win but like I think he I think he finishes top top 15 top 20 hland is uh is what play really well the last round at at uh Quail Hollow I feel like he’s rounding a corner that makes me really happy if he’s back with good things good things on the horizon guys okay well thanks for [ __ ] all over my pick what’s your pick TC my pick is uh it’s our it’s our featured bet of the week the nlu I put this together earlier this week obviously this was a consensus pick from all of us this is very reflective everybody’s plays uh you got max top 10 ludvig top 20 Tommy with three e top 30 and uh Harris English H top 40 I feel like I’ve got some unfinished business with h lewood maybe Tommy maybe Fleetwood will have better success in Majors uh than than Tommy Fleetwood but I mean I I don’t know that feels pretty realistic to me and I’m not sure what’s going on with the knee with ludvig you know he’s been walking Ginger this week on it he might have might have a strain might have I don’t I don’t know what he’s got going on but uh plus 2600 for like I can’t see Tommy finishing outside the top 20 here um the guy’s long enough he hits a ton of Fairways and his long iron plays stand out so I love it I think you know get down with this let’s ride of the Willing uh I have a group play I I like cam young I of course think there’s going to be a natural bump from uh the video earlier this week with with Cody and him out of losta cam Young’s group he’s plus 300 to win Group D Group D consists of Tommy Fleetwood who else Hideki will zalatoris and Dustin Johnson so I just think you know will Hideki and and zalot Tores some injury stuff DJ like does he even care he he’s awful at Augusta uh Tommy’s a threat but hey I I like cam Young Too the guy has played really really well in major championships was a top 10 at Augusta I feel like this course should if he’s playing well should suit his game so that’s my uh play of the week Cody what do you feel about that can you what’s up guys what’s the question I just play with Cam recently bless this yeah what what what what are we thinking coming out of that your time spent with him if he gets his driver a little under control a little squirly with it some lefts some rights but I think bus your teammate he threw himself under the bus if you watch the video but he uh I think vajala is actually a perfect place for him because he can hit it an absolute mile and a lot of people are hitting their second shots from the rough there uh with his speed power I think it sets up great for him and I think it’s it’s kind of it almost feels like it’s cam young Young’s time I think it’s one of those one of those things and I will say TC you shouted out our nlu play that we have there for anybody that’s interested you can go go to FanDuel Sportsbook and check it out there under on the left hand side you’re going to see a column PGA then if you go over right next to PGA Championship there’s going to be some no laying up specials that’s where you can find all of the the goodness that TC cooked up for all of us here but of course odds subject to change thank you to FanDuel uh I’m out of here I can’t wait till one day Cody’s gonna get got by bringing up his browsers like he’s gonna get some some kind of windows gonna get pop up there that he’s gonna not want to have displayed to the world I’ll say this you guys don’t know how close I was to just doing blocky to miss the cut but the odds are like minus 1450 like you gotta you gotta lay so much so many nuggies to Randy I I had them set up a blocky versus Zack Blair I like that one too yeah uh TC what’s the weather looking like uh you know what s it’s not great it’s it’s uh Cody I sent over were some models earlier to Cody uh weather models not not you know models that could get him canceled or anything like that so this is this is the European model that’s nobody thought that until you said that no one thought that talking about iing organiz party yeah we don’t know he’s we told you guys there’s none of that silliness happening at the block party yeah so so Thursday looks looks pretty good uh mostly sunny may have some stuff rolling in late night and and then uh Friday is going to be thunderstorm City drench drench City USA Saturday looking better 50% chance now Sunday looks delightful so we’ll see what’s happening uh not a whole lot of win to speak of maybe a maybe a little bit kicking up uh kind of between you know three or 4 and 7 PM each night but um you know it’s it’s improving a little bit I’ll say that okay do you uh do you have a list for us of uh of some of your famous people from Louisville that you want to run through yeah I I was just did a deep di on Wikipedia earlier this week and just going through uh you know obviously the ones he’s not from Louisville but you know Rick patino Papa John Bobby patrino of course Colonel Sanders all those guys kind of the big four come to mind right Randy the commish obviously the Comm Sue Grafton uh the author she went to the University of Louisville Senator Chris Dodd I know you’re a big Dodd Frank guy Senator cocaine Mitch McConnell big big Louisville guy lamb Lam obviously Lamar Jackson the little hands Johnny unitis I had no idea Johnny unitis went to to UFL and Adam hadwin no idea that he went through the University of Louisville yeah yeah hey did not know that um Don Rosa who uh created Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck uh like that Neil’s guy jck Jack harlo uh Neil’s a Big Jack harlo fan uh obviously we’ve got Muhammad Ali pervis never nervous Ellison Ray johon Rondo Dan ugla fuzzy Zeller he was he was raised on the other side of the river over in uh Indiana there Bill plashy no Randy’s a Big Bill plashy guy and uh Hunter S Thompson and John Boyce the uh you know the old every day should be Saturday Fox Media guy that we used to love and still love love reading he’s still with us yeah yeah I didn’t we didn’t have a lot of time to get to listener questions that I asked for but I’ll get to Sir James Niner here he said was Brooks a bit naughty posting his wife’s Beach wear photos after Rory’s divorce announcement yeah I thought that timing was a bit strange so like is it was a swimsuit edition right is she’s in this SI swi Edition that’s how I I didn’t know that that’s what and like Brooks and Roy Cody would know Cody what do we know anything about Jenna I’m pretty sure that there’s like a big suit party going on tonight so it is the week of celebrating the new issue and what she I believe she is in it uh TC’s the one that told me that but continue to yeah just say say that it’s me I I love it is this the one that Britney Mahomes is in she in the swimuit isue this year know awful lot about the swimsuit anyways Brooks and Rory get along fine that’s why I do not think uh Brooks would have any reason to throw shade at be very childish that would be below the belt totally he’s uh hopefully he’s focus on other things this week but um some featurist groups some some pairings that kind of caught our eye it’s a lot in the early phase on Thursday which means we’ll get a lot of these guys in the afternoon window on Friday but L Vander JT at 753 tiger Adam Scott Keegan at 804 big bit spot for Keegan there not had a very good year how’d he get the tiger per is this a make good from the PGA of America for got done dirty for Rome he might have gotten saved from being from Rome if we’re being serious he would had to play for ZJ uh Rory DJ and Rose at 815 uh cam Hideki and havin at 8:26 and kka Max spe at 837 five in a row of of bangers there in the morning off of 10t I believe and then the afternoon not nearly as many feature groups are I don’t even know what you’d consider featuring what you wouldn’t but Ricky Rah and cam young at 202 and then wendam ran Harmon and Scotty the three uh um or three of the major winners from last year uh at 2113 tomorrow so they’ll be they’ll be late on Thursday and early on Friday can’t L out Taurus feels like a good one yeah and and vas with them they kind of had some some really random random pairings I don’t really not quite sure if I’m fall got a bad feeling that cley’s going to play well this week you’ve been saying that for like every major lately I don’t know if you’re just kind of just hedging your happiness on this or are you really getting these feelings so I think Klay should start uh like he wore that that you know Apollo uh was athe I think was like their you know consumer Investment Portfolio or whatever I think you should wear other companies hats out of their portfolio or that have been in their portfolio over the last 10 15 20 years and m c Chuck E cheese uh you know things of that nature you know companies that they’ve hollowed out financialized fired everyone and then spun up sold for a profit the easiest part of my job is knowing exactly when the show’s about to end it just is always extremely clear when the show’s about to end these are the arsonists we’re talking about TC that are now now trying to set the rules exactly guy Josh Harris all right it’s time to wrap you can find us here uh every day Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday after play has wrapped up right here on YouTube uh live on x/ Twitter is well uh chime in during the chats come join us it’s really fun during the live shows especially during Majors they’re our favorite shows to do every year all courtesy of our friends at High Noon and also as we’ve mentioned we’ll be doing an ESPN Omaha Mega cast on ESPN 2 uh Thursday and Friday 1 pm Eastern to 3 p p.m. Eastern 2our window there we’ll have kind of the wrap up of the morning groups and then seeing off the uh the afternoon groups and then it of course it’ll flip on Friday as well so ESPN 2 tomorrow for two hours and then we’re on 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday on ESPN plus as well just doing the same dumb stuff but with live golf uh top underneath it’s gonna be great it’s gonna be really really fun I will not cuss I will not cuss I will are we gonna do an official pick to win yes we can we can absolutely do that I I I said this on Monday nothing’s changed Scotty’s my my pick to win it’s very bold I know uh I did say on going to win by four or more that’s the Bold part of it but Scotty’s my pick to win sge what’s your pick to win Roy and maroy Randy uh I’ll go with Sheffer I don’t love it though TC what was your I went with Max earlier this week I think I thought about going to Tommy but with this put this news I’m going Rory I want to show up at the block party I want to get I want to get in on this block part you’re going to have to have a conversation with your brother if you’re allowed back in buddy well my brother’s not happy with us after we aired him out for the exact ping stuff I want to shout him out he shot 34 on his back nine today one under you know I’m proud of him okay Neil I’m proud of you yeah he showed up when when he needed to most had an excellent uh final nine coming in but we’re not done for the day guys we also have tour sauce tonight that’s exactly right 9 p.m. eastern time tonight probably the highlight episode definitely the highlight episode of this season King Island uh 9 p.m. Eastern uh brought to you by our friends at Precision Pro Golf you’ll find it right here Live on YouTube as well so I would say top top three episode we’ve ever done here you point blank I I’m I I’m struggling to debate that with you right now being put on the spot there’s there’s some great ones each year but it’s a it’s a really good one so thank you to his children thank you to roback thank you to ORS and Alps FanDuel Cody big Randy TC kbv for hopping on uh we’ll see you tomorrow 1: p.m. eastern time ESPN 2 and we’ll see you after play conclud at the end of the day Thursday thank you for tuning in cheers

I forgot how good that into is 👏
Soly is truly such an architect nerd/snob
Driving home in traffic from your job having to listen to Randy roll out of bed to guess a guy who’s not in the field for a question about someone with strokes gained only worse than Tiger and Scottie was soul crushingly brutal.
Let's be honest… T-Dub should have shaved his head MJ/Agassi-style 10 years ago. Then he could do whatever tf he wants on the facial hair front. Both he and LeBron seem to be hanging on to a look not fit for almost-Goats. ✌️🪷⛳
@TC – Block party stripper pole reference was epic. Need to create an AI version of that. Good to know that "You're here all week – tip your waitress – try the BBQ!"
Man I get you guys hate Jack but the level of disrespect has gotten just out of control. Like way over the line. By all accounts he’s a good man. The course you drooled over last year at US Open was universally hated. Valhalla has produced great championships—which to your credit you do acknowledge albeit while simultaneously taking vicious shots at Jack. Everything runs in cycles. There was a time people thought Rees Jones was a genius. Let’s see how people feel about Coore Crenshaw and Hanse in 30 years when people think the minimalist look is passe. My guess is about like this only probably not as over the top disrespectful
Soly Nancy Reagan reference might be the funniest one off comment this podcast has ever produced
As a Louisvillian, TC owes the entire city an apology for not naming Jennifer Lawrence and Nicole Scherzinger as famous people who call Louisville home. Shame.
Shout out to Mrs Pieman for Road To Gundagai 🙏
lucky Rory, think of all the extra golf he will be able to play. At my club all the divorced guys play a lot more than the married guys.
He doesn't get it , He doessn't get it, he still doesn't get it. Well guess what, Rahm got it alright, bucket loads of it, more green backs than you can poke a stick at.
You guys are a bunch of hacks no laying up you get 30 seconds. He just said there’s no way spieth doesn’t chip in this and he called him Jordo Have you been watching Spieth lately the guys a bogey machine.
