one of the worst things about being unpopular at school is well being picked last in your sports class don’t ask me how I know but being picked last isn’t always down to physical attributes but also very much tied in with someone’s personal branding it feels so good the numbers speak fors how forgiving is this thing nearly missed the face the point is most drivers on the market are under 5,000 they have to be it’s disgusting this thing goes for around £100 I have three drivers that have come out very recently and would suit a lot of you watching this video but I want to explain why they’re going so cheaply and then more importantly why it’s not got anything to do with performance however before you jump out of your seat and go and buy one of these very reasonably priced drivers I will also explain the downsides of these drivers because there’s always downsides of equipment in golf towards the end of the video how forgiving is this thing nearly missed the face let’s start with the oldest and cheapest model out of the selection and my third choice potentially will go into the bag this year and I’ll explain why that is when we get to it this Yonex ezone GS came out in 2020 and before I tell you why I love it and also the price that you can get it for I do want to draw your attention to yonic’s most recent marketing spill on their new driver coming out in June because as much as you don’t want to believe marketing hype tour proo social media presence don’t make a difference and influence the market sadly they very much do I will hit one of these out in the middle in a minute better and I appreciate I’m not yonex’s target market especially living here in the UK and as we go through this you might get a bit understanding why these drivers don’t do that well secondhand because if I was a yonic fan in the UK or potentially Europe America and I wanted to see the new installment from yonix this year this is what I would be met with on their website I mean it looks like a PDF file that I would submit for my AEV Sports Science assignment not to mention this driver is due to release in June which is basically a month away and I probably don’t need to make you guys aware of all the hype from the bigger name brand Callaway tailor made ping Etc months Advance leaks on the internet so that when reviews do come onto social media there’s a definite traction there prove a point I have the radspeed in my hands here and in 2019 the F9 driver was acclaimed every YouTuber raved about it the price point 349 did everything that all the other drivers were doing and as you can see on the left hand side the price is still rather healthy in the secondhand Market compared to the rad speed which was bit more expensive kind of did the same thing probably didn’t have as good a press at the time and here on the right hand side the price is reflecting that and almost cheaper even though I’m sure Cobra would say this is more advanced as well that one now this is my pound-for-pound driver and my other two Max out forgiveness and potentially max out distance and I’ll explain why that is but if I wanted A1 driver to recommend you guys and I had to use ping tailor made Callaway titless the list goes on how old would I have to go I can guarantee you I couldn’t go back 3 years with well any of them and as I’m comfortably showing there it’s forgiving no adjustable waiting and it’s not the most forgiving option in this list long story short it’s disgusting this thing goes for around £100 from Japan to America Tor Edge very much like Wilson over the recent years has bumped up the price of their drivers meaning that they have to do something with performance and technology and boyo boy did they do it with this particular head type and arguably ahead of the game in 2022 as all we hear about this year is the 10K Mark ping g430 10K qi1 Max with the 10,000 total inertia I’m amazed this thing sounds as good as it does to be perfectly honest cuz it doesn’t look like it should sound that good and there’s no wonder this thing’s forgiving and I explain why this is so forgiving and how close it is to the most forgiving drivers in the market but my biggest negative is it is very well brand but when I show you the prices does that then mean yeah I could probably Overlook the rather loud exterior I talk about the P400 Max quite a lot and the reason I talk about it a lot is because well I like facts and here’s some facts with the R&A limits and rules and regulations of driver heads that are driver’s maximum forgiveness Hill to toe let’s be honest that’s the only one we care about is 5,900 and on my right the pingg 400 Max 5,700 and on my left I have the Tour Edge 5,500 with their new model claiming 5,600 the point is most drivers on the market are under 5,000 they have to be because the more forgiveness the more Spin and these are lower spinning heads you get it however it fascinates me that performance doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to get you onto the top rated list again I’ll show you some prices of this driver down the right hand side if you can get a hold of it obviously a lot more stock in America but why this one why not wait out for a g400 Max well it actually sounds a lot better and when we’re splitting hairs over forgiveness 200 150 let’s be honest it’s not going to stop that kind of bad shot but for those ones that do tend to leak out every now and again something that you obviously want a bit of help with around the local golf course oh there she is get down there well for a forgiving driver head it definitely hasn’t done too badly I mean just look at the size comparison between my next driver the one that I’m thinking about actually gaming this year and obviously the super forgiving Tour Edge driver the biggest downside whether it’s hmer Tour Edge any of these unpopular drivers is that actually trying to sell them in the future after you’ve bought them could be a lot more difficult than let’s say you PG 400 Max not to mention finding the right head Loft shaft everything else can be quite difficult as well and my biggest tip is just put yonix driver Tor Edge driver hona driver into your save searches on eBay and just be patient wait you’re going to get an absolute bargain for the year that it came out oh it feels so good now I’ve reviewed H drivers in the past and the biggest down side of the H drivers is it well sounded like a tin C when you hit it and I would have been thoroughly disappointed when this was released if it sounded like a tin can because the price tag is nothing to laugh about and one of the main reasons why I love this driver so much is that it’s a personification of value and how much value gets lost from a lot of this expensive equipment when it does eventually hit the secondhand Market because I can say for right as I was saying I can say in my bag I have a $700 600 driver that only cost me 170 quid the numbers speak fors I mean I can’t really catch that much better this is different from a normal hom driver it has had the upgrades carbon everywhere hence why it sounds solid yet it gives you that feel of classic design very small front to back and obviously they have a d type so it’s a lot more like the Tour Edge and the other ones but this stands out to me this is your Subzero this is your tailor made M1 this is your titless TSI 4 but as I’ll show you the prices here on the right hand side and the absolute monster that is this tww 757 I’ll give it to you the name doesn’t quite roll off the tongue but it certainly rolls down a fairway guys if you got any questions for me on your golf bag or your Swing sasg Golf academy.com and I’ll catch you guys later

First here!
I bought homna driver when i started playing because your video's. Loved it then my swing changed after lessons so traded it in with the matching 3 wood against the oddesy ai #1. Picked up a stealth 2 plus driver and a m4 3 wood.
Love your videos, keep up the great work!
Another driver I would add to this list is the PXG 0311 Gen 5 Driver (X or XF variants), can be had second hand for about £180. XF is the more forgiving model but I am finding even the X model the best I have ever had for tight dispersion, hardly losing a ball off the tee now.
Yonex rules!!!!! Yeah! I'm still a Yonex fan, despite the Callaway Rogue driver in the bag at the moment. Great video as always Simon!!!
Good suggestions! I game the TEE E722 and agree with the forgiving aspect that you mention. the centre of the club face is the least part used and most of my drives are in excess of 230 yards and near the edges of the fairway 90% of the time.
Great reviews
I have honma irons and cobra hybrids and a Mizuno driver. I bargain shopped everywhere got my irons when i turned 40 I decided I was going to golf more and buy nice clubs. Got everything for 750$ of course they were a couple years old but never used.
Always love a good value drivers video – Cheers Simon.
Well done, solid advice backed with data. STLL gaming a Big Bertha Fusion! At 76 (slow slow swing speed) hit it dead straight 195-205 yards
This is a great video of how to get a solid club just a couple years old. I recently got a used set of Mizuno jpx ez forged irons from 2016 and love them, have you ever tried them? I'd love to know your thoughts
Great Video Simon. I too love Honma and am gaming Honma TW747VX Irons which are just amazingly forgiving forged irons. I am very keen to try one of their drivers BUT their adjustment hosel is different to everyone else and requires a specialist tool. The wrench is the same but you need a small cylinder to adjust the head because it is spine aligned. If anyone has a hack or way around this for their drivers then I am all ears as I'd love to buy one for comparison against others drivers I own or have used.
I have always liked Yonex
Only way to wear a collar buddy 👍🏼
Drivers are such a head scratcher, old drivers before 2016 sell for like 80-100 and models after 2018 can sell as low as $100 for something that came out like 3-4 years ago
I got an absolute bargain on a new 2021 Mizuno ST–Z with a Diamana 60 stiff last year for 200 Euros. I am sure I would get 20 metres more out of a QI10 or similar, but really, on my home course there is but one hole where I could realistacally still play driver with those lengths then. The Mizuno is INCREDIBLY forgiving. Cheap drivers rock.
Wouldn't say I ignore it. We have 2 PGA Superstores and 2 Golf Galaxies in my area, never even seen a Yonex (new or used).
Not sure why I watch you Simon. I am fortunate to be able to afford what I want. Last years TSR3 is garbage, what am going to get this year? Its not that I am rich just frugal in every other area of my life. Still driving a 2008 Toyota Tundra. I guess if you save a a truck payment every month for 12 years, Then a new driver does not seem like that much. I do appreciate you trying to look out for people though.
I bought the Honma T//World GS driver almost two years ago for US$180 from a Japanese store on the basis of your review. Still play it and can't find anything longer. Only negative is that it is loud.
Last week picked up PXG Gen5 and its amazing piece of technology. Absolutely love it.
I've owned 2 Honma's and 3 Tour Edge's. Got them all as a year old model for under $150 . Everyone outperformed or performed as well as my fitted Callaways and fitted TaylorMade, so much so that I only have tour edge now
If I find a great driver for $100-150 and play it for 2-3 years, I'm not really worried about resell. Especially with the prices of the new stuff.
