on the Alabama River combine that with the normal voices in my head and it’s hard to call Boat numbers I can’t hear Studio good luck today guys good morning everybody we are live out in the golf course area uh we just just right around in cooters pond these guys right here have already caught one on a frog they’re looking for a Shad spawn this morning and they worked past this little area and the the bass have started blowing up there’s some Shad stuff going on they at first it wasn’t going on but I think let’s let’s watch you can see earlier they caught one on a frog he made a beautiful skip up under the up under a lay down and blow up on a frog smashed him and uh right there we go it’s a good one too get the net oh there’s another one fish on live right now good one another good one there you go that’s a good one [Laughter] huh sorry I’m a little close I’m going back up for for the people watching I’m sorry I’m having I’m having to spin Kenny around we got too close yall bear with me here so right as we got in here these the we’ll go and show the second catch again and uh I think that one came on on the old spinner bug but these guys you can see the water’s come up and they’re having to make really really good cast um and that’s going to be really important today you can’t you can’t make Cal cast today you’re going to have to really really focus on every single cast because the waterers come up and you you can’t get your bait easily to where you want it to be at that hard cover the base of these trees all these stumps anything hard is where these uh where the Shad spawn is going to be happening at a lot of times you see it on rip wrap or on seaw walls but they’ll definitely happen too even on grass lines but you can see here it’s happening on the base of these trees and these guys are making really really very pinpoint very precise cast and uh getting their bait way back in the area we were told the water came up a foot and a half or 2 feet since yesterday and you know yesterday might have been easier casting getting under this stuff but today they’re having to skip through the tiniest little gaps if you can see there’s a boat through the uh you know through this little Bridge here there’s another boat and I’m hoping we don’t have a Little Rascal’s moment where the guy on this boat hooks baits with the guy on the other boat what was his name uh what was his name Peewee I don’t remember the other guy’s name cake a fact check me on what his name was but they just they just mentioned as soon as we came around this point over here to the left here to the left you can see this the water’s all the way up in these trees now and as soon as we came around there the guys kind of sounded a little bit disheartened and and I don’t want to say sad but they they weren’t happy what they saw because the Shad spawn wasn’t going on he said yesterday there was a good Shad spawn and he immediately said we’re about to make a run down the lake and they went a little further and when he skipped his frog in couple Shad jumped up with it and you could see they really locked in to that Shad spawn bite and noticing that it is still here it’s just probably not as good as it was yesterday so they’re having to make I mean just the most precise cast but they’ve already got two in the boat the second one was I’m going to say the second one was a three pounder or better the first one was probably two and 1 half 2 and 3/4 maybe if I had to take a guess well I’ve been here Jason I’ve been seeing some fish catching I’ve been seeing some fish catching and I mentioned it earlier while Luke was calling boat numbers and Jason you said you got one on a frog too that was a three- pounder yeah we got uh actually I went on a swimbait this morning so I’m here with Anthony gogins and CJ Knight and and you know we rolled in here I think Luke was calling about boat 175 and these guys moved in on this fish right here they fishing a bank early and then they just jumped over to another side and they started reeling this one in swung it in big celebration cuz those guys you’ll hear them say bonus cuz that’s a bonus fish for sure at this point uh these guys have planed to make a run this morning you can see that nice fish there these guys are definitely off to a great start they were planning to make a run I talked to them before they uh put in this morning I said where you guys going they said we really don’t even know yet and we were planning to make a long run with them and took off with them and they turned right here into the golf course area right beside you almost Daran you’re just around the corner from me so there are a lot of guys in here fishing the shpa the water has come up this morning um you know when we come to the Alabama River it is always the water the water what’s the water going to do is it going to rise is it going to fall we’ve been here at flood stage we’ve been here when the bottoms dropped out of it today it’s rising which is a good thing ding I mean fishing Rising water always easier than fishing fall falling water right that’s right okay good yeah yeah um yeah no I mean do like it’s it’s the cool thing is especially for these shallow water guys on a place like this where you’re going to have a bunch of guys fishing shallow it just puts them even more in the dirt most of the time and for a shallow water guy it uh especially the ones who can make really good cast and can pick apart shallow cover um those guys kind of do a little bit better because you have to be even more precise with your casting you can’t make you can’t make half cast you you really have to focus and so the guys who can cast the best honestly end up getting a couple extra bites throughout the day yeah and these guys I know you can’t see them but I know your guys are doing the same thing I mean the bushes are hanging over the trees are hanging over and they are putting it all the way under there right up next to the bank and that’s kind of how they caught that fish it was right on the the edge of a little Point hanging under the bushes and I mean it was sweet sweet fish so y gosh between you and me there’s probably five guys I mean just yeah these guys have turned around there’s got around there’s another yeah there’s another 10 or more guys behind us back in the in this area that we haven’t even got back to yet we the first boat we started on and came in here was boat number 10 the first boat we came into was boat number 10 and I asked him you know yall have boat number 10 did you fish close because the fishing’s good in here or did you fish close because uh you didn’t have anything and you just wanted to stay close by the ramp and he said no the fishing was really good in this area in practice but he said the water has come up about a foot and a half or two foot there’s so many boats around here [Music] if these trees were in between us right now we have guys seven eight Guys casting at each other [Applause] for for so this one little stretch they’re on right now is about a 30 40t little stretch I mean something really small 40ft little stretch but that’s where the the only Shad spawn actual activity that I’ve seen this morning is happening in this little spot and that’s where they’ve caught both of their fish at is right where they’re throwing right now the shatter jumping up on the bank but it’s so far up under there and you can see this is they’re definitely making the most cast here oh he just cast right on where they were where they were jumping at you the guy in the front is throwing a frog a Shad colored frog and the guy in the back is swiming a jig Shad colored jig obviously two probably the most popular baits during the Shad spawn they’ve also been switching between a Buzz bait a couple cast and then they spent a lot of time with a spinner bait but you can’t really get that spinner bait up under there where they need it to be at so you’re seeing them skipping and the the best two baits for that during the Shad spawn or what they’re doing so Jason I can’t Jason I can’t see you visibly where I’m at but I can feel your presence I can just feel that you’re close well we turned around we came back to the spot where they caught that fish and he actually set the hook on one as soon as we got back here and like you said there’s not a whole lot of Shad spawn going on visibly these guys got on the big motor and moved a couple times in here and they’re going to spots I guess that they had seen some Shad earlier maybe yesterday there is a bird on the bank which all know that that’s kind of a a clue that you know hey there’s a probably going to be a fish in this area you know Shad Bond Bill and then uh they just said Swim J swim jig 101 throw it to your arm blows so these guys are making those quick cast short cast just reeling it back in working that bait back to back from the bank so we’re right here where they caught that fish earlier though I hate to we always talk about you know you don’t you we’re not supposed to pick favorites or we’re not supposed to have uh you know any gut we’re supposed to come into this just open-minded and cover a bunch of Anglers but I would love to be able to get with the Godwin Brothers today this just fits their style so well and a lot of people catch them on a swim jig but specifically the Godwin Brothers they are two of the best swim jig fishermen that I’ve ever watched and it’s their strength I I hope that they’re in the area so we could somebody could cover them today but uh this just looks like Noah and Cole will be catching them today I need to feed it to you camera two and they said just like that it’s over now the crying start so I guess they’re feeling Shad spawn kind of going away the sun’s getting up in the sky I’m going hop over behind us Jason there’s so many boats around I’m going to hop over there’s a guy another Angler’s kind of crept in the area and they’ve already started fishing slow they’re already dragging so I don’t know i’ be interested to ask these guys but one of my questions is if the Shad spawn slows down and and you’re not getting that real aggressive morning bite that the Shad spawns you know known for is can you still slow down and fish the area look at this two boats just whamming right here same spot same area follow the Tre we almost needed to print off some lottery tickets see who gets to come in here and fish yeah y’all catch any going on that that other bank morning sir what’s y’all’s boat number 41 41 my question for you is a lot of the guys are running around fishing a Shad spawn or trying to fish a Shad spawn and y’all already started dragging around slower fishing another big one yeah well I haven’t seen it this morning either that’s what they were that’s what they were mentioning is they hadn’t seen much Shad spawn this morning yeah they they caught two back to back but that’s a tank yeah hey Daren hey Darion y can you hear me Darion these boys probably just put in the I’m hear you got 4 lb probably around 4 lb I’m going to say didn’t get a great look at it but the head on it over four say it that way and uh celebration’s going on cuz they know it’s a bonus they’re about to give up on you said it’s over four I think it’s over four I wish you could see it here comes the replay Daran really short strike got it in the net slung in the boat and they went to celebrating and the energy is still there right now so it’s hard to give up on an area when you keep catching them like this I mean they’re they’re bumped they’re still talking chatter this kind of deal you you take every bite you get and you got to put them in the boat and they miss one may have been a short strike may have not really been fish but they missed one just before they caught that one and they put this one in the boat and the hook set was fantastic they’re pretty pumped right now they know that how important that is to to have two solid fish in the Box this early I mean if they had a if they have another spot their main area and they know that now they only got to catch three other good ones cuz their first two were I mean obviously they got a big one and a really you said the other one was around three lounds that’s a solid one I mean you talk about you talk about top top 10 way if they can catch three more three three plus Pounders yeah if we can just get to go with it at this point I don’t see you calling the two they got I don’t see them calling those out today so they’ve got two solid Keepers right now so I mean it’s not even kind work all day for yeah you work all day for those kind of fish and here we’ve got two of them in the box already so pretty huh it take me it it take me four or five days to catch two like [Laughter] that all right I’m going spin back around the boat number I think he said 49 if I remember correctly there’s only two we’ve seen catch a fish so we’re going scroll back around them I’m curious to see if they’re going to make a run or if they’re going to stick around oh it looks like they’re running cuz they’ve got the Troll Motor on two or 300 right now y’all heading out we’ll stick with them for [Applause] for for this for once again we’re on CJ Knight and Anthony goggin like we said earlier they are third in the aoi they’re only 18 points behind the leader what does that mean they have to finish 18 places ahead of the leaders to tie them so with a solid start this morning I don’t know what the leaders have but with a solid lead right now I feel like the scales were closed right now these guys would definitely make up some ground no I said you didn’t hear the rest of what I said I said if the scales Clos right now now you guys are making up some big ground what kind of weight do you think that second one was yeah 7 lb with two fish if you didn’t hear that at home that’s 7 lb with two fish so three more bikes three more bikes out for for for is [Music] for don’t wa that for for so CJ and Anthony made a a turn back so this is probably our third pass through this area so right there is where they caught that first f much for I look at that cast I mean just smooth going in there not a lot of Splash this [Music] a beautiful morning on the Alabama River from cters pond this is the fourth stop the Alabama Bass Trail South Division these guys are really trying to pay attention to the points today of course they want to take home first place but these guys are starting to pay attention to the AI standings team here Anthony Goggins and CJ Knight are sitting 18 points out of the lead currently have seven PBS in the boat just two fish quickly went to work this morning put a 3 pound in the boat fish for a little bit turn around and put a four pounder in the boat this early in the game they’re a long ways down the road to to get to stand at the top of the leaderboard this afternoon Miss k um maybe you could take a minute and just kind of give us a little break down of what you’ve been seeing this morning and kind of catch us up on what’s happening on the Alabama River facts wise take it away welcome into the Alabama Bast Trail South Division fourth stop the Alabama River cters Pond and the story of the day is rising water or stable water if you follow the Alabama Bass Trail any length of time the Alabama River here at crter pond water is always the issue we either don’t have enough of it or we have too much of it stable water conditions uh is something that we ask for each year and unfortunately uh the weather Gods just do not um cooperate with us but uh we are here we are live presented to you by am first glad to be here in Prattville thank you to the Parks and Recreation Department Kelly Cook Russ Sanders and all the volunteers this morning for getting our anglers in the water safely and also uh getting them Park uh getting them parked uh leading up up to this tournament guys we’ve had thunderstorms Thursday and Friday cleared up yesterday about 7:30 in the morning we’ve had Sunshine high humidity high temperatures in the 90s with lows in the 70s uh the last two nights got up this morning we had a 63° morning uh fairly chilly for this time of the year it’s going to get up to 80° today Shad spawn is happening as you’ve seen out on the water swimbaits um I saw some uh spinner baits tied on yesterday on several of the trucks that I I stopped and talked to yesterday in the parking lot so going to be real interesting not expecting a ton of wind uh today but Bluebird Sky Sunny going to get up to 80° so the first really great fishing day in the South Division uh 225 teams did registered for this event we had 13 no shows this morning so uh we’re going to get out on the water here in just a minute I know uh Luke is set up on someone uh I’m just going to talk briefly about some teams that we’re going to want to watch today Brian Adamson and Ryan l they won here last year um great uh team they finished in the top nine the last three or four years in the Alabama Bass Trail they’re going to be a team to watch Randall Hamilton and Justin Mt whether or not we’ll be able to catch up with them today it’s going to be interesting I I see them on the trackers and they are a good ways away from us may not be in cell phone signals so we may not be able to catch up with them today Terry Stevens Gabe Aldridge I talked to them yesterday they had really tough practice Rising water should help that bite just a little bit Foster Bradley and Nick Harris another team very strong in the South Division uh they like this body of water we’ll see how they do today and then another team that we always look at I think it’s the first time we’ve gotten to the fourth stop and they’ve been outside that top nine Kobe card and Chris Rutland uh Chris fishes this water all the time going to be real interesting to see how those guys do today but I know that Luke is on a team right now so we’re going to go ahead and get out to him and Jason and let you watch some fishing we’re here for the fourth stop of the Alabama Bass South Division Alabama River cters Pond if you’re coming out today bring your lawn chairs uh bring your umbrella is going to be a sunny uh Sunny one out here today so please make sure that you do that but let’s get out to Luke and Jason and let you watch some bass fishing y’all stay tuned all right guys I’ve C up with John Pard Tim Watkins here they’ve got one fish in the boat fish in the main river and this current is ripping out here uh if you were a river rat that likes current this is uh this is your kind of day this is what I think of though when I think about the Alabama River growing up watching tournaments down here you know the historic Bassmaster Elite that was here where guys were running places where only kayaks can go you know high water lots of current and big spotted bass and uh you know obviously I’m a I’m a spotted bass nut I say at every tournament we get around these big spots and uh can imagine see several of those come across the stage this afternoon but it batteries are going to be very important today fighting this current making sure your equipment is uh performing as good as it can perform as I can tell you like trying to sit out here is not easy but lots of guys though as we were running down here to Tim and John lots of guys on this main river U but again they’ve got one fish in the boat and these are names you see in the top 10 a lot and the ABT John especially man just lots of lots of great finishes so a team to watch we actually talked about them earlier this week on the podcast Miss K and I so I was excited when I looked up and saw on the tracker they were very close this morning to uh where I was at to start my live coverage we got some spinner baiting going on typical River fishing current break here you can see just a little turn in the bank right here in the bend of the river You’ seen ChatterBait so far spinter bait and then they’ll alternate some one of the one of the two will be dragging something as well creature bait or jig guys is this the plan kind of run this current brake stuff all day long so that’s it that’s the plan for right now anyways bottom okay John said that since the since the waters came up with steeper stuff really is where their bites have been coming and he said yesterday seemed like the fish were sitting off a little bit but you can see I’m actually spot locked right here and they’re drifting a little bit nose in the current just textbook picking it apart and these guys definitely know what they’re doing on this River and I’m not going to say this too loud so they can’t hear me so I’ll go to my golfer voice but I did pick them to win this week no big deal on the podcast no big deal no pressure no no pressure guys Folks at home you can see the debris The debris flying down the bank right there I mean this current is gassing man sa and I I I believe I’m hearing that Daren has called up with our angler of the Year leaders just down the river Darion what you got look these guys are so far back in a creek as you can imagine um leading angle of the year and they’re the so sole boat back here this far but we’re in the same area that we were earlier uh idled way on back here to get to them on the tracker as soon as soon as we pulled up um Mark just caught a little one and instantly threw it back here’s the replay going to come on now but you can see it’s so small he kind of flung it flung it behind his back but um they’re not Shad spawning there I imagine they were this morning we weren’t able to get to them and actually where we saw their Tracker out there pretty good ways away from that so uh I imagine they probably did some Shad spawning earlier but now it’s just uh uh slow and steady flipping and here and uh yeah so we’re seeing a much different sight than you’re seeing in the current but but like you said what you expect out of those guys right definitely what you expect you think about those two look I I was thinking this earlier that these guys have had a they always do they always have the the energy that they’re dialed and obviously these guys have been fishing in the state as as long as anybody but uh they just seem like they’ve got it this year like every time I’ve they have a lot of luck things are happening and I think in fishing it takes a little luck um yeah things that go your way you have that special year right things that don’t make I don’t know what happened my my comms just went out and came back in I had some flash into my ear Loof but yeah it does take a little look there’s a lot of um you know you obviously they’ve got the best equipment and the best everybody you know they’ve got the best stuff but it does take a little look at the at Lake Martin um they they weren’t able to get on a spot and so they ran up near the ramp and said let’s go in this pocket I had a bite in earlier in the week and it was just a bite it wasn’t even a big bite and and they ended up catching like a 3 and 1 12 pounder in there which um pushed them all the way towards the top uh and I I believe was that the event they won this year was like Martin yeah they won they won because of that fish he said yeah they won because of that fish and he said that they weren’t even planning to go in that pocket but it’s it’s those little things like you make a couple of little random adjustments throughout the day and and it it is a little luck involved but you execute and and it’s a gut feeling type decision and they they’ve just had that energy all year that we’ve been around them what’s up guys good morning sir how are yall we’re good how many of y’all got two little two little bitty ones they they they filled it up build pump quit working yeah how how how high the water come up last night it’s really hard to tell i’ say y didn’t yeah where all these pads showing earlier this week they would have been Thursday yeah this whole place I mean it’s hard to get around here Luke where the water’s a got a little stained to it but I when I was trolling in here earlier this whole I’m in a lily pad field but you can’t see them they’re they’re twoot under the water but he said you can’t it’s hard to get around here normally cuz how many lily pads are back here and you can’t there’s not one sticking out but under the trolling motor the the trolling motor blades are just ticking the tops of lily pads some mer submerged Lily Pad pattern I like it submerged Lily Pad pattern Luke I I I know you were busy this morning and you were calling boat numbers but Jason Jason this morning I believe he’s back on live with us now but he was he was watching a little clinic action going they got one over four PBS this morning J what’s going on with you yeah dude we’re still we’re still fighting the Shad spawn over here we just had another bite the fish actually bit twice two hard hit hook sets and still missed him he’s I thought he was about to swing again I mean it’s it’s right here we still see a little activity going on just right here in the same area where you were Darren we’re just kind of just working the bank and little sha pom a couple little birds here and there and running that swim jig we definitely putting on a clinic when it comes to swim jigging today Luke I kind of wondered where you were I thought maybe we had a gap there hadn’t heard from me I thought maybe you’d run to Jacks to get us all the biscuit but I’m sitting out here I can see the r did you did you get a biscuit well see I was just fixing ass since you guys see I looking at the tractor y’all look like you’re in the same boat or you guys getting together for breakfast and didn’t tell us about it that what I was fixing to have casso Craig you never know I mean it’s going there a party going on and I wasn’t invited yeah I wasn’t invited to that breakfast party this morning and the problem is is my track actually has your name on it so Darion probably trying to look for you and give you a piece of casserole and actually he’s going to find me yeah I doubt that he’s not he’s not going to do and we saw some aluminum boats this morning you know there were some aluminum boats poking around out out of take off this morning man and you just wonder will somebody like that pull it out with this water high and all this current cuz that makes those big spots it positions them makes them want to eat well we see that today you know Luke I I do think that Miss K could jump in here I can’t remember who it was but they were eating pizza at the dock by the time we had finished live and it was that kind of deal the water was really high and they’ spped back in somewhere and they were actually afraid they weren’t going to be able to get out of it so they went and caught a massive limit and pulled out of there and went did the T style had pizza brought to the dock so I I totally system uh in Prattville Alabama again thank you to the parks recreation department Kelly Cook and Russ Sanders for helping us this morning and as you can see there in your photo you can you can kind of see some of those current breaks and seams that we were talking about with John Pard and Tim Watkins earlier your unofficial leaders right now would be CJ Knight and Anthony Goggins two fish in the boat for just over s PBS that’s the two that you want to catch first thing in the morning uh on a little bit of a Shad spawn deal those don’t typically last very long in the morning but uh it is a cooler morning uh but the sun is getting up and and that typically um dissipates early in the morning so it’s going to be interesting to watch these guys grind it out some guys like Mark mck Tim Hurst would have liked to have seen the water be a little bit lower than it is right now and others were glad the water was Rising they thought it would might make the bite just a little bit better uh tough fishing conditions all week long is what we’ve heard from uh our Anglers some Anglers that practiced last weekend the water was significantly low they said they caught them really well uh and that the rising water was going to hurt them so um it’s going to be real interesting I think you’re going to see a variety of baits used from spinner baits two swim Jigs and possibly even um a jig um in soft Plastics that you’re going to see it be interesting if we see guys out live scoping I don’t know that that’s going to be a big player in this tournament but we’ll definitely see that we’re going to go ahead and get back out to Jason this team is important CJ NY Anthony goggin sitting third in the points only 18 points behind the leader so you will see us cover them a good bit today they are our current unofficial leaders Jason CJ KN Anthony gogin have um have they put any more fish in the boat since we last talked to you they haven’t put any more fish in the boat they did have right before we went to break they had a hook set twice on the same fish in the exact area they’re fishing in right now they actually sat down and took a little break and kind of did a little bait changing it up but they picked up the same baits and kind of cast in that area for just a minute you know it’s still a low light condition deal when it’s the Shad spawn and they’re fishing on a very low light shadowed Bank the sun’s right behind this bank here they have some other guys kind of move in around them but they kind of take care of their areas really fishing it pretty quick I mean they they’ve gone through the area where they caught the fish they’ve gone through that area three times originally where they caught that three pounder right off the bat this morning and then they swing back by that area and caught a 4 pounder right after that so sitting on 7 lbs right now this early I mean it’s only 7:00 this would be their first spot and they all they said those are all bonus fish so I don’t know about their other spots and where they’re going but this is kind of a bonus deal here that’s probably that early in the morning just hey we’re just going to go catch something real quick see if there’s anything going on and then we’re going to go what they would may have say go to the juice so this is bonus and we’re excited that they’ve got um got two in the Box it’s great to see them off to such a good start and like Miss Kay said they are unofficial leaders currently we want to see them move up that leader board today you guys if you were watching earlier you saw two really good fish catches out of this team so fun to watch I know Darren and Luke are on the water we’re bouncing around we have trackers out on a good number of boats this morning we’re trying to keep sell service Alabama River is really tough when it comes to to sell service and we need sell surface to be able to bring you live coverage so we can’t um get you live coverage without it we’ve got every cell service card in our backpack here to kind of keep the camera up and running and it’ll jump between signal to Signal as long as you can get a signal will keep bringing you live so I know they’re kind of bouncing around I do think uh darion’s kind of slipped up on somebody Darion did you make a run did you stay around me where are you bud well we we idled and and trolled as far back in the same pocket as we could we’re in the very very back of the golf course area Mark mck and Tim Hurst actually I don’t know how well the camera is going to be able to show uh all these lily pads down below us and if y’all can see that we’re basically way back in a lily pad field and I talked to Mark McAn I said man was this water this high above the lily pads he said no a few days ago you is hard to navigate back here because how thick these pads are and for a while I didn’t even notice them uh now we get back a little shallower and you can see it’s just lily pads everywhere we actually can’t get back to where they’re at just because of this boat setup and some of the equipment it’s got on it but uh one interesting thing that I’m I can’t wait when we get back the cool thing about not being a competitor is you can ask some of these guys the top questions and why were you throwing this why were you throwing that Mark mck and Tim Hurst two of the smartest you know as smart as they get about no understanding fish and how to catch them uh they’re both throwing black uh black you know whether it’s a top water plastic or something on a Buzz bait or a flipping bait everybody else that I’ve seen this morning is throwing shads spawn colors typically you know whites and and Shad color baits but neither they never threw anything Shad color the whole morning that we’ve seen them and we’ve been with them for probably 20 or 30 minutes now and my question for them is back here in the back I’m not seeing a lot of Shad activity there’s nothing jumping on the bank um even where we were seeing a pretty good bit of it earlier are are they not throwing Shad color baits at all because they just don’t see that or are they are they going with the throw something different than the other guy approach I’m anxious to ask them which yall probably won’t get the answer to that but I will and uh I’m just curious to see what their answer is about that are they doing something just different than the other guy and showing the fish something different because they know everyone’s throwing whites or you know do they have some secret Alabama River Tim and Mark trick that uh they don’t want anyone to see so it’s one of the two and I’m I’m anxious to hear about that but um man eventful morning so far we’ve that was kind of a pandemonium this morning right there at the bridge youall probably saw that if you were watching live earlier was how many boats were around that bridge area and there was a point where there’s a you there’s some thick trees in the middle but there’s gaps in them and guys baits were they were casting at each other and I bet they weren’t 20 yards 15 yards away from each other and but when they make the cast their baits were literally landed at the same spot and they’re working back which is against you know it’s all in the rules and everybody there was no uh there was no arguing it was just it’s just how you have to fish that area but as a viewer of that it was very interesting and I made the joke about Little Rascals because literally some of their baits were landed almost the same spot and it was just uh it it was just uh it was interesting to see so um yeah beautiful place the fish are are biting we’re hearing I’m I got chatter in my ear it sounds like every time somebody stops or fish catch fish catch is going on and uh it’s going to be ancient see supposedly Luke Duncan is running up and and finding someone who’s fishing in the current and I think that’s been kind of a conversation that me and Jason and Luke had the whole time is are people going to be able to go up and get in the current catch the the spot in the fast moving water sounds like he was on some people in the in the river earlier today but um man what an awesome morning Darren I’m not exactly sure what I’m on here but I’ve got uh I’ve got guys teeing off around me I’ve got guys uh yeah flipp the bushes around me you know it’s it’s it’s everybody’s out enjoying you know cter pond in the Alabama River this morning so the golfers are here the fishermen are here we’re bringing live from here it’s pretty cool this morning you know I’m looking here I can see I can see uh one of the uh actual greens up here ahead of me and I think this is a tea box right here so we’re you know hopefully they’ll yell four before it bounces off the deck of my boat today so just saying well we I had a just a second ago when I was talking I had a guy on a golf cart pull up I think he’s a I don’t know what you call him a green technician I don’t know what his name is what a what a ground a grounds keeper he pulled up right beside I was watching my interview but grounds keeper but um yeah very cool spot um hey one thing that’s random I saw I clicked on our Facebook live a few minutes ago and we had several people 40 or 50 people were watching Facebook Jason last night there was a northern lights that was visible in Alabama my question for the folks who are watching wherever you’re watching from if you were able to see those Northern Lights last night comment those below I think you can just hit comment and you should be able to upload a picture and I know that all of yall took pictures of it if you were able to see it comment those below because that was something we talked about this morning we’re in Prattville I didn’t see it I was actually on the hotel but my Facebook from back home lit up with the prettiest pictures and I think it was really cool so if y’all if you’re watching on on live on uh on Facebook comment your pictures of the Northern Lights below I think that’s something I don’t know if it’s ever happened before in Alabama I’m not aware of it but I’m not too old so I don’t know comment your Northern life pictures below um but Jason I’m I don’t know if you’re like kind of a stable spot I’ve got a pretty long troll here so I would love to just pass this whole thing off to you and let me get on another okay good another group of Anglers cuz we’re back we’re back in a creek so we looked around we’re going to run back over the same water again these guys are really trying to think stay in the shadows here it looks like all right y’all don’t have to give me all the secrets but give me something game plan this morning coming in here man we’re just flying by the edge of our seat honestly practice everything that we practice you know with Rising water went went to crap so we actually I mean up until probably 2 minutes before we blasted off we didn’t even know what we was going to do you know I’m assuming you had a sha spawn bite in here at some point yeah they been Spa but I think it’s kind of in you know real hard but yeah defitely it’s pretty neat got b Thursday around here and I knew the sh was kind of pulled in this area hey I ain’t going to run to go find the sh B I know where one’s at you know it was pretty neat to see you fish this morning over a spot and then come back over to again and yeah and get that four pounder you know that big one that’s what I was telling him I like there a fish and that cut little Cur coming through there and glad we turned around yeah we he missed one twice it was so crazy that’s what I was telling them on live just gra back of jig swim off and what fish bites twice you know very rarely do you get that reaction sh a little bit to sh still trying to sh she just never had it she was a good one too it’s got to feel good though two good I mean you’re not coing those fish those are two solid fish in the Box yeah you know I think today those are going those are going to pay high dividend hopefully we [Music] li not a whole lot of boat traffic is coming back to that spot where had that fish bite twice it’s actually on the other side of that Cypress right there right two more cast [Music] up for so you heard them say earlier that you know hey this is kind of flying by the seat of their pants they didn’t really have a fantastic practice the air they were fishing in with the Water Rising they said just kind of killed it the kind of got some bites in here on Thursday fishing the Shad spawn they kind of felt like the Shad spawn was kind of going away so they just said you know let’s just go try since they had some bites in here they didn’t feel like they were going to have to go somewhere else to find one so it’s close I’m literally I can see the ramp from where we put in this morning we’re just across from there lot of boats in this area we’re in the golf course area guys are just hunkering down and fishing today for for IDE all right looks like we’re going to make a move Miss K we’re going to make a move tell us what’s going on Welcome Back to the Alabama Basel live studio here at cter pond on the banks of the Alabama River just a little bit West of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail which you hear Jason and Daren talking about one of the largest tourist attractions in the state of Alabama the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail very um closely knit to the Alabama Bass Trail that’s kind of how we developed our Trail is along the lines of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail so kind of cool to be here in pravel Alabama uh I think this is like the seventh year we’ve been here too cters Pond uh really happy to be here again thanks to the city of Prattville to the parks recreation department um they have worked with us n numerous years on uh low water on high water uh they’re a great great friend of the Alabama massal and we’re happy to be here want to thank the Anglers for um staying in the hotels here in Prattville I was able to go to a lot of the hotels yesterday and get to see a lot of the guys and talk to them about their practice uh and I do appreciate them supporting the town of Prattville our Host this week I do want to remind everyone if you’re coming out to the weigh-in it starts at 2:30 today here at cter Pond uh please bring your lawn chairs your umbrellas tents whatever you’d like to do it will be a little warm here there is no bleacher seating uh so you’ll need to make sure that you bring your lawn chairs and all of that uh won’t be able to pull your trucks up so you can use tailgates but please back to the Alabama Bass Trail and uh and also welcome Miss Nova Lynn also want to send our prayers to one of our Anglers Mr Terry Tucker is not here with us today not feeling very well uh currently in the hospital I hope to have an update from him before we go off the air today uh but he is certainly a very treasured member of the alaban Bass Trail he and Jeremy green are the reigning Alabama Bass Trail Champions uh they won that title back at Weiss Lake last year uh and came very very close to another win there at Logan Martin last month you may remember that so I just wanted to say that why I had a minute uh also just remind you that we are out on the Alabama River the guys are filming not only for live but for TV so we are in areas where we may not have cell phone service but we’ll get you as many teams as possible I know Daren is pulling up on another team now so we’ll try to get out to him as soon as possible uh while I have just a minute I do want to remind everyone that May 3rd the Alabama Bass Trail uh schedule was announced for the 2025 season uh if you are thinking about fishing the Alabama Bass Trail and you’ve never fished with us before just know that uh priority registration is August the 1st through the 14th new team registration is August the 15th at 5:30 a.m. Central Standard Time you can look at uh the website as well as all of our social media channels for more information on how you can register but right now we’re going to get back out onto the water I know that darion’s on a team Darion um is this a new team or you catching back up with a team you’ve already covered this morning this is a new team boat number 76 they’ve got one fish so far they’ve slid back we saw them idling earlier and I guess yall are trying to find a spot to fish at with all them boats in here yeah it’s about normal or maybe less than normal here though really probably a bad [Music] sign so is the high water hurt helping or hurting y’all I wish it was 10 foot higher the flood gates were still open go up River we still may go up there yeah let just fluctuate so bad we just got it started their boat number 76 he said They wish the water was 10t higher and the floodgates were open and they’d run all the way up and he said they still might so when you say all the way up I’m not very familiar with here how are you going all the way to concrete uh it never really got high enough for me to be comfortable going to the concrete this week but it’s pretty close yeah sure there’s still some guys up there but Li B now yeah we’ll make that decision later we might go down or up I don’t know so if you if you fish down here A bunch no this is just my probably my fifth year fishing here with AB than that I don’t gotcha you think with the current the spots are going to play a big deal in the as far as the the fish that are weighed in you think the spots are going to play a big role I think if somebody goes all the way up River they might pretty good might have done all right on a shadone this morning maybe there some of the creek Mouse but I don’t think a lot of boats are going to catch them gotcha I think the main river bites tougher today too cuz the river is ripping got we actually went out on the main river for the first 10 minutes that’s going to be interesting out there you can’t really sit anywhere on the river with your troller motor on 10 you’re still getting walked out wow so the guys that usually catch them on the bars may have a harder time we didn’t know if we’ get anybody we’ve gotten three in the past 30 minutes see many other people sit in the hook no we got all some good stretches in here this morning and we ain’t caught anything good so Miss K’s got me on a mission today to bounce around and cover as many guys as possible so I’m I’m going to keep bouncing around in here my job’s easy in here though yeah good luck guys all right Jason it sounds like you’ve I can feel your uh your presence again I always get that feel sends a little little little Bree for a second we uh we moved uh we moved away just a little bit back to the spot where these guys caught they’re really solid so far off to a good start S lbs two fish and I thought we were about to make a run is why I kind of stuck with them cuz they they kind of were just like any ideas you know and they didn’t go anywhere but right where they started this morning so they kind of come back around the island here and just start starting to work it a little bit and it’s I think like they said is when we were up close to them interviewing them they said they’re fishing by the sied of their pants which you don’t ever know if these guys are telling the truth so they may just be trying to milk this one for all it’s worth because they caught two solid ones here and it’s kind of like me it’s hard to leave it’s hard to leave them when they’re doing so well it’s hard it’s hard for them to leave the area when they know theyve caught two really solid fish here more than likely there’s probably a couple more here they want to fill out that limit right now just filling out the limit with solid fish would move them up really high up the leaderboard we’re looking probably in that 18 lb range today is probably what it’s going to [Music] take and they’ve already got a four pounder and a three pounder so couple more three Pounders and they’re up there Alabama River is really a tough place to fish we have seen teams Through The Years you know come in here and make an 80 80 Place move which means 80 points you they are more to make a move towards the top of the leaderboard so and then we’ve also seen teams lose 80 places in the aoi just by coming here to the Alabama River so it’s really tough it I asked guys earlier this week about coming here and what it means to come here and and know that it’s tough you know they just say you just got to put your head down and you just got to go fishing you’re really just looking for five bites you’re going to catch those five bites and hope for the best at that point and so when you come here you’re you’re really kind of leveling the playing field these guys a lot of guys are from here but it’s still tough for those guys as well you know so as they as they have to come here and and fish against all these other guys 225 teams out here today just really grinding away here on the Alabama River you never know what the what the river is going to do we’ve talked about this already the water could be high the water could be low it’s never stable when we come here looks like it’s going to Crest sometime today a little above flood stage and and start falling all afternoon so the guys that want that ball to be want that water to be shallow may have that opportunity for it to be shallow this afternoon if they’ve got a late boat draw Daren you’re still bouncing around back in there I’m hanging with these guys cuz I just feel like they’re going to catch another one and I don’t want to lose it so who you on now yeah well we’ve we’ve caught up with with the gang Buck is leading the charge Buck y’all got him yet what’s that can’t keep them on should have four jeez all on a bus bait yeah or maybe you just lost the you lost them quick and then everything else you land Darren just before I brought you in CJ cast back into that area where they caught that four pounder and I mean had a massive hook set again and lost it whatever it was and you know he he let out a Big Growl cuz he knows losing one it’s a big deal and it’s pretty pretty weird that they keep going back to the same spot and keep getting bit there’s something holding those fish in there I we’re going to assume that it’s a Shad spawn what would you do Dar yeah I well I was going to say if you if you want a professional report I hey I just back you know what I mean what you’re here for bud that’s what you’re here for that’s what I would do he’s here we go he’s he looks like he’s taking your advice they turned the boat around he’s going right back to it see I knew it the cameraman’s struggling because the sunlight’s right in his face I know let me I think I can get us back in the shade without having to fight him well we’ve got we’re so back we’re we’re so far back here buck and Amanda are throwing on The Fairway and if the water was up any higher there there would be one right near the green they’re casting towards the bunker right now so I heard you say Amanda couldn’t keep them hooked they said they should have had four so that puts them at four over right I mean that if they’re playing they’re on the golf course right you know they’re over I guess they are four that’s not good not very good can hear Luke from a distance Jason the the in my ear I was going to say the the good thing about the the fun thing about our job is we can hear different things than what the viewers can hear and I just heard Le Duncan chirping in the background but the crazy thing is is you know he’s not even on live right now so I don’t know yeah you know he should not have the authority to be making jokes at us while he’s not even up yeah and I mean he can’t get sell service you know Crank That boat up and go buddy yeah I mean what Daren I I’ve been waiting to say this I thought Luke would be on with us for me to be able to say this but you know you know I use Instagram a little bit a kind of a you know I’m not as as popular as as you with the you know the check mark beside you or whatever you know but you I don’t know how long Luke and I have been friends but I I feel like this week all of a sudden we became real friends because he actually followed me back on Instagram I mean that’s that’s kind of a big deal right I mean I like almost denied almost denied the follow you know almost think cool and I may not I don’t know may just be cool to me but our cell phone our our camera packs have got I think they said a Verizon and an AT&T SIM card in them so we have D we have double service all the time but on a place like this you can’t I mean even with double with with two different carriers you still can’t get service at some places so I don’t know if uh maybe Luke said he’s on a boat right now I heard him say he’s got three fish but I don’t know if we’ve got enough service to bring them or not I think he probably ran down to um Pratt to get a straight talk card to put in his I think and he had to top up on it get get his minutes back yeah yeah he’s on that $15 minute program he’s got to pull up they got to be catching him though when he pulls up y’all better be catching him cuz he don’t have many minutes better be ready he got no time to get it and we at Mark Mark and Tim are back behind us again there they’re crowding us this guy our grounds keeper up here is riding a little red Tri what you call it thing a tric tricycle I know that’s crazy I don’t know if you heard Daran the guys here just said that was another four pounder that they just lost swimming whenever we get Luke and Jason and in a three box and maybe Miss Cale I don’t know if we can go four box in a little bit if we all get service but we need to make a weight prediction we haven’t done that yet normally we do that the beginning of the day and Jason I know you’re moving so to just keep chattering through all this I will but uh my thought is okay well my thought is if Jason’s already seen a flurry like that where you pull up and he’s got one specific stretch where they’ve caught a big one and they had I actually think they’ve missed two or three fish there this morning it sounds like if I remember correctly um my bet is that somebody that were not covering this morning pulled up on a spot similar to what Jason saw where there is a little bit of Shad spawn caught a big one that four pounder but then maybe caught two or three or or three or four even and um I want to elaborate on that a little more when we get Jason and Luke all on the same same setup but I’m going to guess I think it’s going to take over 19 I’m I’m going to say it’s going to be 19 something is the is the winning weight I bet I bet a team caught that four and 1 half to 5 pounder and then another couple of good ones too but um I don’t know maybe we need to bring in maybe we need to roll our our bait predictions from this morning soon I don’t know sounds good to me we I made a I made a very the little 3 in one too I would think more so than the 4 in here today what you got Jason I mean you guys have got it narrowed down to one bait I’m guessing you’re really on them obviously obviously I’m not so I brought the big big bike selection today so the trick stick the fighting frog and a kamakazi crawl so easy to say for everybody here I’m going flipping yep I really think today the bik’s gonna get tough the water’s Rising which means they’re going to the bank we’re gonna bring out the flipping stick and we’re gonna flip all day how was one here last year by the way so just say info and we’re rolling again there we go there was our bait picks and I’m going to pull up and just show you actually Luke Duncan this morning stole my pack of swimbaits because his was in the boat I actually brought these and Luke stole that for his bait choice and we’ve already seen I don’t I haven’t been able to see the bait that um Anthony Goggins and CJ KN are throwing but I did hear it was a swim bait I’ve been see all the swim jigs have had a swim swimbait trailer on the back of them the cool thing about a little swimbait like this one you can rig it multiple ways again this is the mayor by rala Crush City and it’s just a little Shad bait perfect I’ve actually brought this same pack to almost every tournament we had this year because it’s a bait that you can catch fish on anywhere no matter what how however however uh sorry I got Luke in my ha we’ve got however however style of fishing you’re doing wherever you’re at always be able to catch fish on a swimbait a little one like this especially it imitates Bait fish um whether it’s gizzard Shad or thread fin no matter the size of the bait you’re going to be able to catch fish on a swim bait like that with the may this morning they’re throwing it on a swim jig also we’ve seen this already too uh my pick was the Bronco bug and I was kind of making making fun at the cicada hatch that’s going on right now cic to take over but we’ve seen several guys flipping um Mark and Tim and I mentioned this earlier they were flipping a really dark bait um something like this just a a flipping creature style bait this one has a little cicada looking crawls on it I don’t know I’m making that up but um we just talked to Buck and Amanda they lost four already flipping this morning the guys that we stopped on uh boat number 76 I believe they were uh flipping these bushes here in the middle something just like that so two go-to baits that you’ll see a lot in in today’s action I would imagine and then I don’t know if we can how quickly we could pull up but earlier I asked a question about the Northern Lights last night personally my Facebook blew up I’m from Hayden Alabama and kind of I guess North Central Alabama north of Birmingham and my Facebook last night I was in the hotel but it looked like my whole Facebook feed was in Alaska and we made the comment earlier if you saw the Northern Lights to comment them in the feed below and Thomas uh someone I don’t know if it was Thomas that took the picture or his family took this picture and it’s purple and so he took it inmobile last night purple and pink sky it’s crazy that you’re able to see that mobile that pretty and that far south I know James Spain was talking about we would be able to see it in the northern half of Alabama and possibly and then up but it looks like it ended up going a lot more south than than anywhere if you still have pictures of that from last night comment them below Miss K’s been seeing them in the comments and talking about them all over Facebook so I think that’s fun to look at something that doesn’t happen I don’t know if it’s ever happened before or I don’t know if it happen I hope it I have no clue I I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing people are having conspiracy theories about it and saying that we wouldn’t you know they were saying last night could have been the last night or ever my I heard a conspiracy that whatever happened last night was going to send magnetic fields to the US and the Earth would not be the same for 100 years something I don’t know that didn’t happen there’s the the fish are still biting whether or not whether or not we knocked out I we still got cell phone service everybody but Luke has cell phone service and Jason since you left I’ve still been on this trolling motor and I haven’t even covered anymore people I’ve talked about the mayor swimbait I talked about the Bronco bug and I talked about the northern lights and the cicada so I’ve covered pretty much everything Terry maybe that magnetic field or whatever we had yesterday is kind of messing with Luke’s cell service I guess it’s kind of what they were saying yesterday was going to be a big problem I know it did some stuff with satellite radio and stuff like that but I didn’t expect it to take out loop I he’s got T-Mobile it’s a T-Mobile thing he’s I didn’t expect to take him out you know he’s doing that low budget thing too not only lowbudget live got that low low budget cell service low budget life hey Luke actually did a series one time called lowbudget life and it was a vlog series he did and it was pretty I hate to give him credit but it was pretty interesting look I got l d chirping in my ear right now back not have service I going to defend myself when he gets back up water 72.8 72.8 where I’m sitting I’ve got my graphs off I don’t know where it is where I’m at it is no this graph doesn’t show I’ve just got the map pulled up I don’t I don’t see we’re pulling up on another boat now there’s dragging around there’s a little bit of a a break in between these two like an island I don’t know I guess you can call these islands out in the middle of this that’s what they are but they’re uh flooded and so there’s areas in between them morning guys what’s your boat number 12 y’all got any fish one fish Bing yeah did the number of boats in here mess up or is it just slow fishing wait just a second yeah yeah they bit better yesterday really well did you hook them or did you just shake them off that’s how it goes in practice sometimes well good luck maybe they’ll turn on here in a minute yep Jason they said they couldn’t shake them off in practice he said one of them he let him swim off and he jumped three times and he never even set the hook the fish still got the puts number three in the Box that have jumped in the boat with you right we’re just fighting for a limit though right now are just pulling up mind fing want to move up that’s what I’m saying your fish is just on Let’s uh let’s take a quick recap of these guys this morning coming in here right at the top of the leaderboard in AI their first catch right here this morning Luke was still calling boat numbers I think it was on like boat 179 and they put this three pounder in the boat I mean that is a solid start to the morning and then they kind of fish around a little bit more and then turn right back around and and swing again and catch this four pounder into the boat so that gives them seven lbs and that right there you know really at that point they felt really good about the the start to their day and then we’ve been fishing for a little while now and they finally caught this one here really they just said the same thing we’re just really trying to fill out a limit in here before we go anywhere else I feel like the fish are just constantly pulling up this Rising water kind of makes them run to the bank fish are just pulling up so they fish through the same area multiple times and each time a different fish is pulled up to the bank so they’re going to keep going we’re going to keep watching right angle got much to do with it as anything can hear them talking to each other about F presentation how important having that right angle as they make that cast these guys that we fish around are filmed on them a lot and they’re constantly chattering to each other just pep talking and it kind of talking through the day this sport is a mental game you know having that big long love bite really probably kind of started blessing with the head a little bit so to get another bite in this same area once again says all right let’s run it again let’s run down this bank again they right up there where they let that one rest if they caught the 4B draft that had a big 4B bited again they missed it so I think they got their eyes on going back up there again was working down this spank to get there there Darion um I don’t know if that’s a cada home that I hear or if that’s you kind of just in the area again can you hear that I do hear that but I think it is with c realizing that I am in the area yes so it’s a little boat we’re back on boat number 10 we’re back on boat number 10 this the first boat that we were able to anybody was able to get on this morning and they got to pick any spot on the lake and they picked right here close I asked him if it was cuz the fishing’s good or did they not have anything and he said no the fishing was pretty good in practice it’s a good area so what’s the update couple hours in still zero still zero the Shad spawn was not as crazy as what we thought it was going to bees three bites so you think the fish are still in the area or yeah it got kind of thick in here for a second it looked crazy when we were on this side and y’all came back from that side and it y’all were basically your baits were laying at the same spot almost casting through the trees so y’all going to keep fishing around in this area or you going to run somewhere else yeah the crazy thing is there was so many guys in here I mean surely they I mean that usually means they were biting in practice and I didn’t see hardly I saw two fish two fish catches so it’s like it must have uh and now there’s not hardly as many people in here so nobody must have caught them in here [Music] early but uh well good luck guys I’m getting I’m getting the voice in my airpods fish all over the lake Daren and I have been really concentrated here in the golf course area which not very far from actual takeoff at cter Pond the guys have been fishing a Shad spawn this morning really kind of stuck with it a little longer than I thought we would we’re kind of fishing this low light Shadows Banks now so hoping that shat spawn still continues we are on the team of CJ Knight and Anthony gogins coming in here really in the top five in the aoi and with the seven lbs they have right now they caught a three actually they caught the three right where he just made that cast caught it first thing this morning Luke was still calling boat numbers and these guys were already catching fish so other guys had even started their day and these guys already had one in the Box they quickly moved on to another fish after that it was a four pounder got it in the box and now they have just a small keeper that’s put them over that 7B Mark so they got three fish currently just been really working that slim swim jig all morning so it’s a swim jig day for sure for these guys so interesting to see how they kind of end up in the in the tournament you know they got a good start and probably going to be able to continue that just got Daran now over in the the background over there so he’s not too far from us he really was kind of close to us so he’s honking the horn and waving so he’s probably going to head out of here I think a lot of teams have kind of moved out of this area now and moved onto their other spot so this was probably a a Swim J Shad spawn deal let’s get it going go get a couple fish and move on where CJ and them really can’t leave the area because they feel like the fish can continue to move up and they have lost a four pounder that’s just right around from where they’re fishing they’re working their way back there to it I know they’re not just going to run up there on it but they’re slowly fishing their way back there to it be nice to see them put that that fish in the Box we were up next to them earlier and they said that they really kind of came in here and just started fishing the seed of their pants cuz they didn’t really have a plan the plan that they had the water’s Rising it was a shallow area and they felt like that would just kind of be blown out by this point so they didn’t didn’t make a move to go fish that they just stayed here and knew that they already had a Shad spawn deal here so they just decided to stay and and fish it out it’s paid off so far well looks like CJ’s breaking out a Nutty Buddy I know Robbie Floyd’s at home watching and you know he would normally say at this point what you got for snacks so he made a really long cast so that he could take time to eat that Nutty Buddy [Music] well I wonder if they’re going to go up in that pocket yeah looks like they are is for so this is an area they haven’t pushed back into we fished right here at the mouth of this Creek or the mouth of this little pocket I should say a couple times now and they pushed back in there a little more and I don’t know the thought process I’m going to guess at it though because the water’s Rising maybe those fish are kind of pushing back into a really really shallow area um they’ve located some fish outside this area and that’s where they located the four pounder and the three pounder literally at the mouth here so maybe some fish are back in there a little have pushed back a little shallower because of the Water Rising where to give it a shot and in the four times we’ve passed through here they’ve not gone back in there at all so I think they’re just kind of mixing it up they know some fish are in the area just kind of trying to locate a few more finish out that in it o see good hook set that was a bite get that swim jig right back in there now he has on two occasions had the fish bite once throw back in there and it bit again it’s strictly reaction bite the fish aren’t really taking their time to look at it he’s just running that swim jig by really fast and the fish are just reacting to it that’s why you see them keep the Troll Motor on high and they’re just kind of running running down the bank making precise cast getting up under the hangover trees and getting all the way back in there to the bank cuz those fish are up under that tree chasing new water you know that the bait are going up there on the bank and they’re really taking their time to to run these Banks quickly but you know making some precise cast h productive areas the back of the boat’s got a soft plastic going see the big activity back activity all around the boat said this earlier a Shad a Shad spawn is a low light condition so when the sun’s just coming up the whole lake could be in play along the bank with the Shad biting here they’re trying to hold on to that low light condition with fish in the shadow side so we’ got a lot of shade all of their bites have come in the shade you try to put together a little pattern there those are the kind of things that you’re going to be watching for we’re watching where did I get that last bite what was I doing how precise was my cast did I come across the limb did I come down parallel with it how fast was I going what was my retrieve like erratic or was it really smooth see that cash right there all the way up under the bank right there either CJ’s going for more snacks or he’s changing his bait I mean uh Anthony’s changing his bait or he’s going for more snacks so let yet to be determined here right I’m not going to talk I want to talk to him I ask them about a couple things but just around this curve right here is where they had that four pounder hit and then they came back through here and had another one hit so we could call our shots this would be the moment for for for that was the area right there the not giving up on it that was bite e for for [Music] all right dar in um you know my camera guy needs a little break here I think you guys are back on y with another team so CEST the craziest thing just happened I ran down the lake looking for gor gordi and ferish found them cameraman Noah pulls up Luke Duncan’s behind them Luke pulls up on me and so me and Luke he says he’s been all the way to Huntsville and all way down to Montgomery all on the same river and we and we run into each other so I see Luke Duncan honestly smell them I’m uh what’s that last time luk so we have a double River coverage over here Lucas what he say last time he was 300 yards or something meters I don’t know what he was measuring in last time but uh th000 m is what he said I’m I’m roughly 180 yd away from Luke and Luke let me let me ask these guys what they’ve got since we just slid up on them so quickly we’re on boat 13 tractor says y’all been here for a minute y’all got any fish one fish yeah yeah just stay here in the same line got log you get some good bites here in practice nice nice heard that yeah well Luke welcome to the party I see you what what youall got over there I heard is that boat number 13 it’s boat 13 guys how many do we have so far this morning got one got one one about 2 lbs on the boat for the Hutchins team yeah Daran I’ve been uh I went all the way to the Gulf of Mexico then I came back uh saw a couple Dolphins stopped and got some shrimp now we’re back we’ve had no phone service uh I’ve lost an airpod this morning cameraman Jerry had lost a hat and so it’s like that scene in Ricky Bobby where he got M by the cougar and ruined his Crystal gaale shirt it’s kind of the morning we’re having in this boat and then I run all the way back up here almost to Montgomery and the first person I run into is you so yeah I’m not having a great morning out here on the Alabama River but we’ve seen some teams that are are catching a few fish though look at look to your left was drifting past you oh yeah the current is ripping oh yeah it is H you get in the middle of the river you going to pay for it right now going to hey h how about the floaters too oh yeah well we that’s what was when you were interviewing that team uh as soon as we pulled up on the Hutchins here a huge floater just bounced off the side of their boat just came right down the river and just hit the side of their boat right here but there’s so man between here and and the uh the lower end of the pool here where I’ve been this morning there’s a lot of lot of floaters uh a lot of trash too you know floating trash which gets on your line uh and it it tends to do the same thing these fish do hang around these seams you know so so it it’s making a little tricky on our teams and it doesn’t seem like out on the river that it’s just Fast and Furious but guys are catching quality when they get biked out here well Luke I don’t know if you can hear in your airpods it sounds like there’s a it sounds like there’s a train off in the distance and per my per my Googling that is the sound of a of a crowd of of cicas and if y’all the viewers will look here in my pocket I got one I got a cicor right there in my pocket found a earlier and um what’s that there’s are cicas we hear them in the in the back in the background it’s been it’s been slow out there you know I want to compare their pinches talk about this earlier but Darion the fact that you’re pulling a bug out of your pocket just have so many things to say and I’m watching this from across the river the viewers at home are getting it as well I had a cicada in my pocket and I’m now these guys have drifted back and I’m ride in the middle of the way now which is awkward I’m I’m going to drift over to the side I’m going to compare the I need you to film across the river here we’re we we’re going to get the folks at home the the view of you ruining their spot right now while you’re trying to do the cicada plug look at this Alabama B here we go this is a smaller version fishing for 15 grand this is the look the two Flappers there see I’m not crazy they’re similar shape so if if it’s a that was if it’s a that was falling I mean that’s pretty close look at there I can hear Luke talking he wa we want we want to see a big one yeah catch us one okay they’re making fun of me so I’m going throw my cicada away but uh darion’s over here right now too doing coverage and he and he’s showing them a cic he just pulled a cic out of his pocket on live so that’s right he had it in his pocket you believe that theut hey the Hutchins team over here they think you’re crazy Darion also I’m fixing hit a log look at this Jared look at that give that for the viewers at home that’s what that’s what’s going down the Alabama River right now good look at some of that floating cover right there I’m on everything from soccer balls to pull trees today yeah and now cada we’ve got a that’s what that sound is off in the distance that we hear J Jason was talking about it earlier but that’s them off in the in the forest over here we’re in the middle of we’re in the we’re in the Montgomery jungle the Pratt jungle and uh and it sounds like there’s a whole train running through here but it it is a cic takeover um luk I wonder what the fish last night of M Orlando I know he probably watching Orlando’s watching he probably watching hell all right hey we got a shout out to Orlando Jones right here he said he knows Orlando Jones Is Watching I wonder what nice shout out to Orlando the fish were thinking last night last night imagine you’re night fishing imagine you’re about a four pound orever on one of these old cypresses on the river and you got the Northern Lights pop out bam all of a sudden cicas start dropping from the trees imagine if you’re night fishing last night you know I mean they had to they had to be last night that’s why the fishing slow today you would think so you would think so I don’t know in all my years of fishing that I’ve ever seen the northern likes of K combo that’s say uh you know I never read about that in bassm magazine I don’t know how to attack that scenario but you got to think really that that there’s so many of these tees I was coming down the interstate yesterday they’re just flying across the interstates you can see them you got to think some of these fish are feeding on them in places got to be oh yeah I would be you know when you’re fishing with your buddi Jack bis if you’re a bass yeah yeah you know when you’re fishing with your buddies and you’re like and you’re not catching them and you’re like man if I was one 5 pounder I’d be under that dock right there I’d be right there if I was a bass I’d be killing them cicas I’m I’m pulling up on a boat right now who I’m yeah I was uh trying to see what they’re doing in the middle of this canal one of them’s fishing off the left side one fishing off the right side and they’re just looks like they’re slow dragging a some sort of a baby brush hog but I do see the pink ribbon which in theory means they are fishing AB good morning s how y’all doing that’s right it beats what Luke Duncan’s doing how how’s the fish biting they ain’t it’s tough they fed on all the cicas and they’re they’re full now I guess I don’t know yeah y’all got the Night Bite y’all got to have y big spinner baits in what’s uh what was your boat number two 212 210 or 212 either one two 210 210 and uh when I come out the end of thebody they were yeah they were we we stuck around close and a couple people as a crowd fish real close this morning but they’ve spread out there was no wasn’t much biting the afternoon bite’s been pretty good heard that are y’all going to be around this area going be right here right here okay there you go stay right here and for the afternoon kind of yep that’s kind of what he said similar thing well good deal guys well good luck luck y’all smash there is a bunch of junk in the water there heard that well y’all oh that looks fishy in there really yeah I hope not good luck guys hooked up hooked up let’s go oh got him heck that’s what that’s why we pulled up right here here if Orlando’s watching he’s proud right there right there we go three more fish number two in the boat from the Hutchins [Music] bar here [Music] it is crazy how loud those cicas are just a h off in the distance we’re here with the Hutchins team and just put their second Keeper in the boat this one of these main river current seems kind of a little Bend in the river that’s what you notice with a lot of our teams we’ve been running up and down the river hadn’t had a lot of service to to bring you a lot of coverage Unfortunately today from our boat but most of the teams that we’ve pulled up talked with oh swinging a miss right there or when they’re on the river they are they’re trying to fish just something a little different just a little turn a little maybe there’s a little rock that runs out some of these places a big tree but just these River bins in general have been real popular today with as much current as we have and a lot of times that’s just going to push those fish right where you can kind of pinpoint where they’ll be and Eddies are latting to the cover and it pushed the bait up there as well so no shortage of current today the interesting thing for me too has been the the water Clarity I mean it’s dirty and it’s got so much sediment in it you can just see it I mean it’s it looks like like you could just it’s thick enough to grab it almost as it comes flying by the boat your spot locked it’s just I don’t know if that’s slowing the bite down for some of our teams certainly fish getting caught in the Alabama River though and something that we really haven’t talked about this is almost a cold front situation as well we had a massive storm front come through the other night a couple nights ago affected so much of the southeast and now we’ve got a high pressure today winds blowing really cool kind of day out here not as not as hot humid as you would think it would be on the Alabama River in May I know it’s been said many times today in all the years that Miss K brought has brought the Alabama Bass Trail down here to cter Pond they’ve had crazy water conditions they’ve had basically no water they’ve had flooding conditions and you know this year we’re at flood stage again not up in the parking lot there at cter Pond but it’s certainly high and it’s on the rise and it makes this fishery tricky because it’s almost like a tidle fishery in a sense because the water level does change so much and can change throughout the days dramatically one way or the other coming up or going down and these fish stay on the move because of that I feel like especially the fish in the backwaters and you have to wonder is it going to come down to who found the productive Backwater or who finds that main river stretch that’s going to be loaded with big spots there’s certainly a pile of those on this River and I believe Miss K’s going to join me up there beautiful Cooter Pond Miss K lots of moving sh going just got a report I see that I just got a report from a team that uh we didn’t really talk about much I think I may have mentioned them in the podcast Trey Wade Bradley Parnell that team fishing with an alternate today Mr Leon Wade filling in for Bradley Parnell Bradley’s wife is really close to having their first child so he stayed at home with her but I just got a message from them they have 17 and a 12 lb in the boat at 8:40 they are boat number 69 172 lb we have not seen that this morning we’ve seen some good fish caught but we’ve not seen 17 12 PBS we know that um they made quite a run and we’re unable to get to them with cell phone service but what do you think about 172 lbs at 8:41 in the morning morning I think if I if I have that I’m feeling uh really really really good I’m I’m already thinking about uh you know what I’m going to do with some of my winnings this afternoon now does that mean you’re going to win the tournament or top 10 and I don’t know you never know these ABT Anglers they always bring it it always takes way more weight than we ever expect to get a check and to and to ultimately win but I’d say if you got that in the box at 8:00 you’re feeling pretty good right now about the rest of the day to maybe make a couple more you know yeah we saw this a couple years ago when Brian Stiffler Wesley Gore you know they came back at 10:30 ordered pizza kind of did the whole Timmy Horton thing with the floaters that you’re seeing in the water the fact that the water is going to Crest today it may start dropping does that change the way you uh think about your afternoon there boat number 69 they’re going to be in that third flight due in what 3:00 I guess do they come back a little early just to make sure they get back you know you got to you got to weigh your odds on that right I mean because I say it all the time that there are so many variables in a bass tournament catching them is certainly the hardest part of it but man you could have a mechanical issue like you say there are floaters out here today uh and and think about the no cell phone service right like you have something happen and you can’t get a hold of another team potentially or uh to get a ride back cuz you know they have to ride back with another competitor or send their fish back kind of thing so yeah I think having a good bag like that early it it is going to change your game plan you’re going to you know there’s plenty of spots to fish close to the ramp so do you just come fish around really close for the rest of the day you know uh and definitely don’t don’t take that chance uh and risk that because I’d say that’s going to be really strong here today and if a fisherman tells me they have 17 and a half they probably have 19 most of the time this okay I’m not sure if you can hear me I can’t hear you right now but I have Darien Craig pulling up on us right now going to do coverage of coverage double cover single cover double cover not the least we got you covered yeah we’ve got you covered out here M we got you covered oh yeah anding figure you where I’ve been I’ve been all over this place you came from that nobody that oh that’s where I’ve been down river how about the current the current is amazing um if Luke if we’re just trying to break this thing down what is your strategy for where you’re going to go next I think I’m going to go I’m going to keep going up the river yeah I think I’m going to head to uh head up towards Montgomery we’ve seen so many tournaments in the years that section right there at Montgomery is really popular for a lot a lot of big tournaments over the years I got to feel like some Anglers are up there a lot of them actually nobody on tractor like you’re saying checking the iPad we’ve got a lot on the very bottom end of this pool and then you’ve got something some way way up but there’s so many boats in between we’re going to get on somebody that’s catching them service that’s back that way yeah you go south of here or down the river you don’t have much cell service really once you get below the bridge there uh just outside of prattle you lose service so we’re going to go up around Montgomery and you know these big spots got to be biting on this River heard that well y’all heard it here double coverage strategizing on the strategy and I’m going to break away and find there’s Jason there a party in case k just called Ronnie Moore K just called Ron well Miss K hey I’m going to go try and find some some more folks on the river Jason’s now headed the direction that Luke was going to head so who knows we shall see we will return see I y’all can go to Luke see I taught everybody a lesson which direction not to go to make your camera work this morning now everybody’s refusing to go that way right darion’s going to leave us we’re still fighting the current here with the Hutchins crew they’ve got two in the boat with the Sada screaming in the background I know Darion said earlier we never really made a weight prediction today you know with a team reporting 17 12 pounds you got to think it’s going to take 18 19 potentially even 20 lbs on this on this body of water it’s certainly got them you can see me up here working this Troll Motor I spot lock a little bit but the hutkins team started drifting with the current I’m trying to catch back up with them here as they move a little further down but you can see just all the sediment in the water it’s really making the water Clarity tricky and then great look at some of the just debris everywhere it’s making it a tricky fishery for our Anglers no doubt about it but if you can see right here try to spot lock right there that hard line that current scene that’s what those fish are going to be inside of that and it keeps them from getting blown down the river in this current so they’re going to get right there the bait’s going to get right there but you can see that current seam and this turn in this River Bank creates that seam and that’s why these guys are focusing on just this little stretch because it really when you’re running down the River it all starts to look the same right you got current everywhere these main river banks they all look great there’s tons of trees but there’s going to be little subtleties that make each of them a little bit better than others so right here just this one little turn you can see kind of blocks that current makes that seam perfect and they call a keeper just right here so they’re moving on down and you can also right there they’re almost in an Eddy to the point you can see their boats really nice not moving and they’re with the current right there and they’re not moving that fast if I was to break spot lock right here I would just take off so that point also protecting them a little bit creating a little bit of a back Edy you can see that just that garly cover you got trees with the water Heights getting up around those some of those Willows on the bank and that’ll position those fish but they were telling us that’s that’s their strategy is to just go up and down some of these more protected stretches and current seams here today on Alabama River and I think Miss Kay is going to join us again from the studio Luke I am actually sitting here looking at the trackers here in the studio and I know where the team boat number 69 weigh and Wade are I can see them on the tracker names around those guys Tyler Malone CAD law currently sitting in second place in the angler of the Year points then I look over and there’s Brian Adams and Ryan Lloyd they won here last year uh a team that we know pretty well Rutland Cardon they’re in that same vicinity uh chapel and Davis winners from Logan Martin they are in the general area of where we are here hearing 17 12 lbs came from also chip Bradley Nick Harris we talked about them on the podcast as well Stevens and Aldridge a little ways away from them but they’re all in that area that North uh area so going to be real interesting to see how those teams Fair uh when we get back to weigh-in but um I got to think if they’re 17 12 pounds and that second place team is sitting there they could make it interesting for Mark mcag and Tim Hurst no doubt about that with one with one tournament to go so I’m actually watching cicas land on the water have you guys seen any bass eat a cicada during practice have you seen that at all cuz I see them Landing in the water it’s you got to think they eat them right well that’s what I was telling Jay a while ago you know might B EA them up big as they are no doubt no we didn’t even get a chance to practice man so no practice Flying Blind but already got a couple in the boat Hutchins Hutchins team they didn’t get to practice and work would allow to practice so kind of going blind today but they fish here a little [Music] bit I had a couple bik Ed thing eding in here yeah I was talking about that on live you got this little turn in the bank right it just protect you and creates that seam we couple big spots man but got that one that so they lost a couple big spots this morning and they got one I think two to three lounds but I believe we got Jason Duran coming in hot Jason I saw you encroaching on my water yeah I can barely hear you luk you know it’s this cell service is so spotty here we decided we’d run past you guys I when I went by y’all I thought we were uh at pck the way y’all had that ledge covered up up there you know more cameras than fisherman I think so pretty cool we caught up with boat number we’re just all trying to get around that we’re trying to get around cell towers exactly 121 Alex B and Calvin Reese don’t have any fish in the box yet fish in the river man I had been out here in the current yet it is [Music] rolling ripping ripping guys what kind of weight y’all think it’s going to take today I I think it’s going to probably take 17 18 lbs that’s kind of what I feel like too you know just history kind of shows that yeah just kind of fishing the edes and the slack water in the wood and just kind of flipping along here sounds like a pretty cool plan to me but we’re going to keep bouncing current and just because man if you can find that little stretch or that current’s got them position just right you can have a great time getting a lot of bites but so far today a little bit tougher numbers wise for a lot of our teams but some quality getting caught on the river like Daran M team stay closed this morning close to that cter pond area then we have some teams like I think K mentioned that ran a long ways from cter pond cter Pond down down the river kind of towards that Miller’s Ferry area long ways and I believe darion’s caught up with another team’s going to join me y got any so far good deal and what did you say your boat number was boat number 60 got three fish and I haven’t said this all year but I’m thankful to see these guys lives com we’re seeing something different today we’re out um I don’t remember seeing these guys this morning uh fishing up Shallow in here but they are out scoping and got three fish set around s lbs you didn’t catch them scoping okay see okay am I good to stay over here yeah you’re good okay so he said they did not catch those three scoping but they have just slid out there’s a bunch of bait and he said they’re not seeing any bass in there with them or not seeing many bass um so we’ll see how this works out for for I know we’ve got a bunch of viewers right now on Facebook and on YouTube Miss Kay is back in the studio watching and sending us all the questions I mentioned earlier we’ve got a iPad that shows all the trackers for I believe it’s around 30 boats we’ve got coverage of and she mentioned that there’s a going good yeah do y’all have some time in practice up here no not at all got work days you got to do right yeah I understand that for sure I think they they’ll settle down maybe a little later maybe a couple hours to get that water came up a lot overnight you notice that yeah uh we was some guys talked about it this morning a little dark top and I’m quite sure the fish just had no J yeah so it’ll be two maybe about midday get little bit of a feed on we’ll get I made a good run up here get away from everybody right we did it’s a good plan I think got ba against the lot of shot up there yeah there not that much debris either you would think it would be more but it’s not well you know there’s a couple trees between here and there I saw in the middle of the lake floating not not as much as I not as much as yeah you’re right we were going to run up to a TKA but we start seeing those trees that made us slow down he those C is getting it man yeah that’s crazy isn’t it oh they they’ll yeah get close they’ll come to the boat they will they will have you seen any fish by them this week uh we’ve been seeing some jump may be gar or something been seeing some Surf and and seeing some cices on the water so so this is Jackie Price and Daryl Witherspoon here and guys just fishing the main river I mean we’re up here at the I don’t know which bridge this is but we have made a run kind of get away from everybody and just kind of start working our way back afterwards current is really flowing here I said they do see a lot of big fish hting the bank the cameraman can point down at the water and just watch that see how that current is rolling through here and that is not because he’s on the TR motor hard that’s just look at that St got all kind of debris floating by and know spotted back love the current we get in these little edies and set up we did pass a a good number of guys out here on the main river fishing all right Daran I passed you guys earlier I’m a long way from me now is what I can say I think I’ve almost made it to the cater yeah we me and Luke had a little gathering this morning I had to get some C I had to get some candy from him and uh and a cold a Cold Mountain Dew and he didn’t have either so he was no he was no good we’ve caught back up with a boat that we saw this morning um in here in the same area around golf course and when all the pandemonium was going on this morning and everybody was fishing fast they said they were having most of their bike slowing it down and just and just dragging so guys my question is since the last time I saw you how many fish have you caught we got two small keep two small Keepers it is very tough yeah don’t talk to me I’m just a cameraman that’s a k that’s a k question K Alabama trail.org it’s pretty though that’s right that’s right I think these guys found one of the few boat docks on the lake so we’re about to fish a a boat dock here real quick so I don’t know if that’s still a pattern that plays out in the in the world today but we are uh I haven’t seen a I’ve seen one boat dock today and I did see uh the very first boat number 10 fished it and ever since then we haven’t seen anyone fish boat docks but it was just this morning it was rapidly fish swim jig fish swim jig fish swim jig fish swim jig that’s all that was going on this morning that’s basically what we saw but um just over and over and over just keep fishing the swim Jigs and that was it worked for a few guyson paying off for guys yeah you just uh what’s funny is I’m still seeing Shad jumping everywhere on the bank when you get in those Shadows I know you’re talking about this morning running the Shadows they’re still doing it and it’s not as much but I’m seeing consistently seeing Shad jumping on the bank not not near obviously as much as it was as but the guys I just wonder if that has to do with the water level yeah these covering right yeah the guys that we’re on right now are not they’re not worried about Shad spawn but this other boat over here we haven’t got to talk to them all day they are they’re throwing something white they fishing a swim jig they’re fishing it real slow they’re bottom hopping a white swim jig over here on the on the ri R haven’t seen that approach over here and see what these guys are doing there’s a whole Jason there’s a whole new set of boats in the same area that we’re in this morning but it’s a whole new set of boats now these guys were in here that were going now they were they were in here earlier today but there’s a two more boats back there that we never even saw this morning there’s actually what’s what’s interesting to me and we’re going to pop out into the mouth of this we there was Zero boats out there earlier and now there’s probably seven or eight boats out there deeper that’s where we’re going to go to next but I do want to ask these guys a few questions all right guys is 9:15 what’s the morning looking like two little ones was that a miss or was that a okay okay uh two little ones that seems to be the program a lot of people’s on right now y’all going to the river now uh I saw y y’all were in here pretty much all morning right yeah was the we didn’t really talk to a lot of people about practice how was y’all’s practice in this area yeah what you say what was y’s boat number I forgot to ask 182 182 uh so last weekend was better the water was a lot lower than it is now wow yeah we we went all the way to the back this morning and I’m not familiar with this lake or specifically this Creek and I looked down and there’s lily pads and when I looked on the map that whole thing back there’s lily pads I just you just can’t see them at all so last week it was nothing but Lily p in WoW thought we to go see if we find spot yeah I heard that large Mouse ain’t cooperating well they a likeing that’s right well good luck man all right yeah yes sir well there you hear it two fish that has been probably our fourth or fifth boat that said they got two fish so this just seems to be the program this morning the fish are not cooperating and you know I don’t know it had have been the Northern Lights last night that messed them up huh uh I don’t know what’s messing them up if I knew that if I knew what messed them up I’d be fishing but I’m not good enough to know what messed them up so I just do the camera and I don’t want to hear and I don’t want to hear Luke Duncan’s comment about that Luke I just mentioned something about me not being good enough at fishing I don’t even want to hear you say anything about that yeah I’ll just I’ll let the commenters on Facebook handle that you know uh okay thank you it is a little stingy out here it is a little stingy out today that’s for sure we’ve caught up with Harold whales and and little change of scenery though we got in a big backwat and there’s a couple boats in here it’s crazy though how much current even this far off the river uh that we are right now how much current is coming through some of these little offshoots but Harold swimming a jig and when we pulled up on him he said y’all are barking up the wrong tree he said it’s having a slow morning uh trying to get it turned around fishing solo today and swimming a white jig around doing the Alabama shake a little bit here but several boats in here we’ve got some further in this area we’re going to try to go check on as well when we leave Harold but you can see a lot of about 58 but it is interesting like heard Darion mention earlier like Lily pths being underwater I’m looking at some water Willow you can see it right here that’s normally topped out and it’s under completely underwater got a lot of water in these reads the scariest thing for me as an angler though is this high water everything looks amazing what Jared and I have been talking about the boat I mean just trying to pick somewhere to stop it all looks so fishy you’ve got essentially eight hours to figure it out on tournament day because it is different if you did get to practice a lot of our Anglers did out of the 225 teams where you know where do you start where do you start and the guys adjust the best will be the ones whole Big M of we just had a whole big mat of debris Float by I mean talk about flipping the mat sometime with miver yeah it’s crazy Jason when I made when I made my long run this morning and I couldn’t find any service uh it was amazing some of the stuff that I was seeing floating down that River I have been white waterer rafting at the aoi and I don’t think the current was this strong there I mean it is it’s ripping today that whole debris I mean is a chunk that you would build a bonfire from here comes a big old Another Log as the cameraman’s taking a look that’s going to be a lower unit take her out of right there I almost had one of those ear it looks small oh yeah a ride under the the ones that are scary yeah those are the scary ones yeah those are the ones it’s like oh that doesn’t look that bad and then as you go by it it’s actually 20 ft long you’re just seeing the the very very edge of it you know Jason as I I walk Harold and his Backwater in his Phoenix swiming a jig we we talked a little bit this morning about those guys in those aluminum Rigs and you do Wonder we’ve seen it in Bassmaster Elite Series in the past right we’ve seen guys go places that normally you can only go in a kayak but when that water gets up current gets crazy you can uh with this much current you really can see where rocks logs things that you might run over right they’re going to create an Edy so you can kind of tell where you need to run and we saw several this morning that I H I do not remember seeing at the other ABT South events right so guys switching maybe switching up rigs just for this event maybe leaving the Phoenix at home and going to a small smaller you know a smaller boat and uh you know something that they they’re not they not scared to knock a hole in maybe today to get somewhere to catch a bass seen a little bit of that this morning I know I’ve brought that up but iing that R up there it’s it’s interesting I just hope you know hope they don’t finish first and lose some of that bonus money you know they can finish second but no doubt about not cash some of that Phoenix money so yeah if you listen if you if you leave the Phoenix in the garage and you win you’re going to be upset about it 15 grand is great but you leave that 8 Grand on the table you’re not going to be happy with yourself but I you know I I don’t have a ton of knowledge on this body water I know you’ve been here several times but I got to think that area past Montgomery you know what I mean like for for a river route like myself I’m thinking as far up the river as I can get you know what I mean like I I wonder how much that’s going to play for some of our teams today now judging by The Trackers on some of the teams we picked to do well in this event there’s not many of them with that direction no or so it doesn’t look like right now no they’re not but as I made the run up here there are a few guys you know they’re scattered out along the way up here and I can from where I’m sitting now looking up River I can see a couple more so you know we don’t have trackers on everybody it’s kind of hard to put out 225 trackers so no doubt about it we put them on the ones that you know we want to see and can kind of get to but these guys here we’re going to keep bouncing around maybe we can see somebody catching them on the on the river out here I think the fish are out here think like the guys were just saying here just a minute ago with that water coming up and now the current turning on really strong may need just for a second for the fish to kind of get reset no doubt about no reposition for sure I think it’d be on well you know I said earlier Fisheries like this and I say this about the Tennessee River at times especially in the tail race they’re it’s almost tital in a sense right they’re so they’re very susceptible to uh all you know rain drought you know what I mean like extreme ends of the spectrum the water raises and lower so much on this body of water every every week really you know what I mean it could be different conditions day to day today and the fish know that like they know that it’s when it rains hey we’re about to have some current and when the current’s coming guess what we’re about to feed up you know so they’re just kind of getting back to that position to feed up the water’s fluctuated so much you you know now they an area they wasn’t able to get to earlier this week they can get over there on their favorite Rock and you know just set up and wait for the bait to come by so it’s pretty cool like you said River same way no doubt and that’s and look these fish this is what they do for a living right like they understand it better than we do for real and they know and when they when that current gets rolling they go oh that’s going to put those Bait fish right over here it’s my favorite you know going to see a little bit of that today um sure you know it it comes down probably you were talking earlier this morning about bait selection and we kind of ran through our baits um you know a little small swimbait like the mayor would be really productive up here cuz it’s small it’s got a low you know easy presentation M you know I I think you were kind of hitting on the nail on the head this morning talking about that these guys are are throwing some soft Plastics and flip it around and kind get hung up a little bit but a little lighter bait might have might be able to kind of float with the current kind of float by the the fish as well yeah no no doubt about it we’ we’ve seen that so we we covered some teams down the river we just unfortunately couldn’t bring it to you on live and we saw a lot of that swimbaits scr your heads with like a freeloader type style bait on there we saw spinner baits uh but a lot of moving baits that would just kind of drip with that current uh as we moved back up this way on the main river we’ve seen more really pitching and flipping in some of the trees and some of the edes uh a lot more of that really up on this end it seems like but the further down we went and the current just is ripping just as much down there we saw a lot more moving baits like I talked about and listen I’m I’m a Pickwick Wilson wheeler guy I’ve got to pick a swimbait in the current you know it would be it’s not in my DNA to not pick that I think it’s pretty unique or pretty neat I should say to see teams that were back in those Pockets fishing the Shad spawn kind of looking at the trackers you kind of see some of these guys are kind of moving out to the river now that’s you know I think they know what’s happening here just like the fish do what’s that what that I can’t hear you I got Jason in my ear he’s he’s telling me about how wrong I am about everything any good jokes Jason do you have a good hey Jason had a good joke earlier Jason what was what was your dad joke earlier Jason Harold he needs a good joke right now you called me out on it and I forgot told I called you out on it I can’t remember the dad it it was pretty solid [Music] yeah got any good jokes any good jokes yeah well he told us when we pulled up he said you’re barking up the wrong tree he having a when we go to fish you know you don’t get a bite we always call it Nar and down you know your lemon water well he’s eliminated live time for him he had a slow morning so now it’s a productive time so fishing the dam tell you you crank that trailer motor on huh you got to get after it Daren got kind of quiet I guess he went looking for some lunch or something he probably went to Jacks that’s right you know how you know how he rolls he’s he’s probably taking a na somewhere he get got to get a snack in there and got to get a break and either either ater K ran him off because he was late he was y’all are over here just rambling them in my ear brings Skittles to earlier I was earlier earlier I was mouthful of Skittles and Jason asked me a question and I had to spit all of them out in the water because I couldn’t keep chewing them and I spit an entire mouthful of Skittles out in the water so I could answer he replied yeah yeah that’s what he replied yeah man I had a good had a good setup for him good pitch to him and he was like yeah I was like okay you’re right uh of Skittles I had a mouthful of Skittles uh no we slid back in near the boat ramp and uh chatted with a couple folks both of them had uh one fish two fish three fish was three different boats now we’ve caught off a boat number 111 he’s fishing solo and he’s also fishing right here by the ramp and when I pulled in I thought he was fishing the bank and he turned around and started casting on us and I said man my my bad I thought were fishing the bank I kind of went over the spot he was casting at but he he kind of turned on me he said no you ain’t going to hurt my fish he’s like I only had one bite and caught one so I felt bad but um he’s he’s got multiple different baits tied on and says it ain’t for a lack of try he’s slinging around and uh this is definitely I hear yall talking about the front and and how tough the fishing is but it’s uh it seems to be that way down here well you know sometimes this chamber of commerce weather is not ideal fishing conditions and if you look up right now there’s not a cloud in the sky it’s just high pressure of a day as you will see and definitely on the back side of we’ve had had a lot of low pressure this week too right with all the all the uh storms we had and that big front that came through you got to think fish fed on a lot of that now you’re on the back side of this bright Bluebird um cicas it’s it’s a plague of cicas we got Northern Lights who knows what’s going on with these bass definitely slower and now I just some Skittles we’re going to slip on around and try to find a couple more teams you guys uh hold down the floor for us okay all righton be safe out there Daran it is so crazy to me when I hear your audio to hear those cicas cuz I mean I hear them here but the fact that your mic Picks Them Up that good is just a testament to how loud those Jokers are it is something else yeah it really is uh they had a bassm yesterday did a trivia question about them and said that they can get up to 100 DB and that was the sound equivalent of a Jet Plane FL flying by I don’t know how high the jet was above the above that meter there but it’s loud it’s like off in the distance but it sounds like a train that sounds like some Ry more MTH I don’t know yeah hey this is a Shameless plug dude luk please don’t please don’t hate on me for we were at on the river I’m seeing cicas hit the water a lot yeah well I I didn’t see that one hit but I just saw him floating so Luke this morning we started in in the golf course right here in cuter spawn I bet you there was uh 20 boats give or take this morning in this area maybe honestly maybe more than that um there is two now and one of them is Buck and Amanda and they’re having engine problem so they’re kind of hung out to drive for a second or that he said they would have already ran so you we there’s literally one boat in here now and this morning and they were piled in and uh very crazy to see that I mean I guess it’s these guys are so good they know if the fish are not biting they’re biting somewhere else and they’re going to run and find them but it definitely is not going on here there’s a boat off in the distance I’m trolling to right now they’ve got their engine all the way out of the water and honestly they may be having a sandwich but we may make they’re crucial snack snacks are important so we’ve got uh a little I think we’ve got over an hour left on live right out an hour left on live we may try to poke around and find somebody on the river I want to get with these folks real quick and I don’t really know what this is honestly are you still up in that same area where we saw you earlier yeah I’m in a I’m in an octo um Backwater deal just right off the r River there’s several boats in here we’re actually we’re fixing to push further up in here we’ve seen a couple teams there’s a there’s a big pond kind of in the back of this we’re going to slide a little further back see what’s going on back there as this water rises if the creek don’t rise oh she’s Rising I tell you you know Daran the there the fish might not be so happy about the cicas I’m not sure on that but the birds are super pumped about the cus the birds are the birds are going crazy yeah million perc million per birds are everywhere mhm Luke I’m about I’m still about 80 yards away 100 yards away from a team that is fishing the angler in the back is sitting down and the engine is all the way trimmed up out of the water and I about 99% of the time when that’s what you see means they are not catching them well good luck Harold’s fixing the make a move and we’re going to make a move to yeah Dar I no I fully Harold was talking to us there no that’s the look of either you got an engine problem or you just gave up may I’ll find yeah either one well maybe you’ll find Bass hopefully Harold’s going to make a move and we are too Harold said he’s got to uh go find some bass he said hopefully we can find some people catching some bass we hope Harold finds some bass out there on the Alabama River we’re going to keep moving you can see we’ve got it looks like this ends right here behind me but there’s another offshoot and it turns into another bigger Pond we’ve seen a couple boats go that way we’re going to push further in there off the river and see if something’s Alabama Bass Trail South Division fourth stop here at cter Pond Alabama River in beautiful Prattville Alabama uh welcome back to the last hour just under an hour left of live coverage here for the four stop Alabama Bass Trail South Division 225 teams signed up for this event in August of 2023 and this is the fourth event one left to make their way to the championship later on at lelay Lake in October a lot of people showing up just to get those points uh had a very cool morning uh for Alabama standards in May it was about 63° this morning when I got in my truck at 3:00 a.m. uh looking for it to go into the low 80s uh today so going to be nice and comfortable actually uh 80° uh compared to what we experienced on Thursday at 93 storms came through the area and while I have you I would like to just send out our sinere um prayers to everyone who endured the storms through from Wednesday through Friday and I know it did not just Encompass the state of Alabama north Alabama Central Alabama South Alabama was affected Mississippi Tennessee um I think at one time there were 13 uh tornadoes on the ground from Florence Alabama to Knoxville Tennessee so that tells you the kind of Devastation that that people are facing right now a lot of our Anglers did not make it to this event simply because they are without power and their families needed them there so just want to say that our our prayers are with those who have suffered storm damage uh as they make their recovery um certainly you know thinking about them also our great friend Terry Tucker who is facing a little bit of um uncertainty right now healthwise and uh our hearts and prayers go out to him as well Jeremy is here he text me this morning to let me know that he had made it to the event and uh that he would be in the water fishing and I know that he is doing so with Terry on his mind today so um I do want to remind you if you’re coming out to cters Pond today to watch the weigh in please bring your lawn chairs there are no bleachers here so you’ll need to bring your lawn chairs bring a um umbrella or a ENT uh if you are sensitive to the sunshine because it is a BL bright Bluebird Sky very few clouds in the sky today uh so we will be under full sun so thank you uh to everyone who has watched today I know Jason Daren and Luke are heading to new teams to try to um bring you more teams uh I guess the story of the day really is Trey and Leon Wade Leon fishing is an alternate this week because Bradley uh tre’s normal partner is expecting his first child and his wife is very close to delivering their first child so he stayed at home as he should so Trey and Leon Wade reporting they have around 17 and a 12 pounds uh already by 8:41 today that brings into another account of a whole new a whole another set of issues is do they leave their spot to come back early early they are boat 69 they’ve got a 3:00 check-in time will they come back early to try to ensure that they get their fish to the scales safely uh and don’t suffer a dead fish penalty or um you know get stranded or anything like that so we’ll be interested some of the other teams that we highlighted earlier in the week on the podcast CJ Knight Anthony Goggins they had two fish in the boat for a little over seven pounds and caught them quite early on a Shad spawn uh have we haven’t been able to catch up with them to see if they’ve upgraded ated one of the other teams that I know Daren mentioned earlier in the show was Cole and Noah Godwin I checked in with them they reported they had one fish in the boat which is surprising because this suits their style of fishing a lot uh we saw Mark mck Tim Hurst they’re currently leading your angler of the Year points by 18 points and I mentioned Tyler Malone K law in the same vicinity where Trey and Leon Wade are going to be interesting to see what they bring in compared to the 172 lbs that the weights have so Jason is on a new team we’re going to go ahead and get out on the water with Jason and let him tell us who he’s with and what they have in the boat Jason yes ma’am boat number 126 Michael Bryant and Mike Garrett got four fish in the Box out here fishing the river guys y’all been on the river all day did y’all start somewhere else the river all day we just working our way around looking here we just yeah so no practice no practice just we practice yesterday yeah yeah a lot changed today though right well what was it like down that way I I think I think it’s maybe a little higher here yeah I don’t know yesterday we’re not biger y so just trying to focus on the current here we got some current though right so of that limit you got large mouth or you got spots a couple yeah that’s good that’s being productive though yeah I would say you would feel you had a better day today than you did yesterday so the plan’s playing off a little bit the last time flooded we did okay yeah and we were hoping just kind of bounce up on a fish and catch the ones you get that’s cool I wish you would catch oh is he not the one he’s he’s holding you back he’s holding you back okay we will definitely put the yeah we’ll put the camera on him then okay get him to work where are you guys from I’m from Freeman George efield okay the Georgia Boys line L okay I mean most everybody wants a place in Alabama at some point you know I mean why would you not Georgia fans or Alabama fans that’ll be the real question Georgia fan man I was before saving and still after saving how about that so those were some uh good years for sure we’re glad I know y’all are I know that at Atlanta yeah yeah I was there I went 80s when they beat wow that’s cool so you guys are Georgia fans how many years y’all fished Alabama Bass Trail well we the very first year or very first two years we did and then we yeah y’all see the new schedule yet for next year yeah pretty good schedule do you think I think they’re all donators see if we no spot all right well we going to let you going to be slow again there are guys in areas we just can’t get to one um because of the high water we can’t get there the strong current we can’t get there but mainly because of cell service if we go there it’s great we can record for TV but we’re trying to bring you live coverage so the guys are having to stay within about a 10 mile area just so that we can continue to bring you Sal service so um it’s times like this that makes the Broadband initiative the Statewide Broadband initiative U Forefront in my mind I hope that we can uh the state will work hard to get um Statewide broadband and that we can have better cell phone service as we’re out here trying to bring you uh service on the lake I did have someone ask who had gone up to the upper end of the lake to the uh North End we sent uh Luke well the south end we sent Luke that way and uh unfortunately just ran out of Sal service so we had to bring him back down here where we could talk to him um I just want to kind of highlight a couple of things I’ve made some notes here as we’ve been going uh through this today um we’ve had a couple teams that had two fish three fish in the boat we’ve only really seen one limit and that was Trey Wade and Leon Wade and we haven’t seen that we’ve talked to them I asked them to self report what they have in the boat a team that surprisingly reported they had zero fish in the boat is uh Randall Hamilton and Justin Mt they are Alabama River guys so I got to think that’s going to turn around this afternoon at least we hope so I’ve seen a lot of new teams on the Alabama Bass Trail that we’ve been covering today and that’s always exciting um glad to have them aboard a lot of Georgia guys we have followed today so that’s exciting as well your angler of the Year leaders at 7:00 this morning reported they had two fish in the boat we saw Mark discard a short fish uh and didn’t even put that in the boat so two fish at 653 I’ve been watching them on the tracker they have made quite a long run but the guys that are in that South area of the lake really haven’t moved that much I’m going to pan back over here um and just see the ones that we talked about earlier uh Wade and Wade uh they have made a little bit of a move move um but you still see Adamson and Lloyd there chapel and Davis are close by Rutland and Cardon Malone and law have made a move um not far but they have made a move Brandon Horton and Shane Horton they are in that general area as well as well as chip Bradley and Nick Harris so a lot of the guys that we identified as teams to watch in this event whether on the podcast or this morning are in that same general area so it’s going to be interesting to see where they are mck and HSE made a significant run but they are um they are not quite uh to the area where Wade and Wade were so um goggin and Knight have made a move Walters and Beasley have made a move so it is it is a it’s a um lot of blue lines on the uh on the trackers right now with boats moving and all that kind of stuff so we’re going to uh get out to Luke and Daren in just a minute I see that Darion has stopped and he’s going to be on a boat right now uh or soon and then Luke is working to get his camera feed up so that’s that’s kind of what’s going on here inside the Alabama Bass Trail live studio next stop is next week we’ll be at Neely Henry Lake there in gadston at cusa Landing for the fourth stop of the Alabama Bass North Division points race there really really tight uh and going to be really fun to watch that one shake down fatherson team fiser annia Ryan annia leading the angler of the Year points and two to my knowledge we’ve never had a student team win the angler of the year so um they have us a a lead there going to be interesting to see how that shakes out we’ve never sent a student team to the Bassmaster Team Championship uh fiser is old enough to go he is over 16 so he is old enough to go to that if they are successful and stay inside that top nine to make it so a lot of history left to be made on the Alabama basal North Division if they can stay in contention and take that uh angler of the Year spot so uh their tournament is the last one of the year so uh we’ll know straight up who is the angler of the Year who’s the overall angler of the year and who’s the runner up so a lot to be determined in June here on the Alabama Bass Trail I will remind you the Alabama Bass 100 registration opens June 1st through the 10th for priority registration we start off the season at Lake Gunnersville and in June we go to Lake eala and we wrap it up at Wilson Lake on November the 1st so that’s going to be an exciting series a 100 booat limit there $3,000 entry fee we pay back over $300,000 throughout the year so a lot of fun so I see Jason is set up on a team so we’re going to go ahead and get out on the water uh Jason let us know who you’re with and what do they have in the boat we are with boat number 174 that is David White and Hannah peoples David just said they got two fish in the box and they’re doing better than they ever have before they never caught a fish here so guys I know guys and ladies like general term there um what’s working let’s say that shy head Shaky Head so slow dragging today have y’all been on the river most of the day or did y’all start out somewhere else okay and that’s kind been your pattern in the past same thing I think a lot of teams do come here just to fish the river you know but this current really rolling today though isn’t it yeah hoping it would but I knew yesterday Big R beft yeah that water level’s come up really good [Music] high really yeah hey we got a lot of ladies that fish Alabama Bass Trail you’re one of them tell us how cool it is it’s pretty cool right I mean getting up at 3: in the morning freezing you’re freezing off in the morning you’re just freezing to death and those kind of things pouring down rain hot sun we never have the perfect conditions I mean today’s not that bad today nice comparon I’ve seen you watching your Trooper out there hanging in there all the time so thank you for fishing with us you guys have had some good good bags in the past too that’s right she just thinks we’re fishing right there’s a whole song about that I think I know y’all hear the cicas right a’t that the weirdest sound you see the Northern Lights last night no he’ll probably in bed by that time yeah all right Darren I I think I can actually see you is that you or is that that may be luke that’s I think that’s Luke you don’t see me I’m I’m so far away I had to go I had to go no I had to get another uh another another County’s driver’s license to get down where I’m at deep down in this yeah we’re on boat number 172 and we this is the first AV boat we saw for several miles down the river and idled all the way back across the flat actually I thought it was a flat cuz it’s just reded out on the on the map and it’s actually not a flat at all it was deep the whole way but on hummingbird it showed it to be all red so they have an improper mapping but get all the way over here they said they they’ve got three three fish little ones he says and they’re fishing probably 25 or 30 ft off the bank and he said normally when the water’s not not uh this High there’s gr there would be fishing grass right now it’s all out in front of them but the water’s so high you can’t even you couldn’t tell if you were just driving on the lake you wouldn’t even know that yeah wow really really oh boy we might have to go in there then okay well y’all heard it there he said that Monday that lily pads were 6 in out of the water and now they’re 2 ft under and they’re telling us we need to go watch this guy cuz they’re putting on a Buzz bait clinet well Jason you heard that they told me to basically they politely said y’all need to get out of here I’m messing I’m messing man all right guys we appreciate your time Jason I’m going listen to what they said they said hop across go behind the island there’s a cut and there’s some and honestly if it’s Adams and Adams that’s who one of the boats we were headed down this way towards and just stopped on these guys but uh we’re going to head over there Jason I’m going to give it to you for a second and I’ll probably see you back here in about a minute two minutes max well we’re going to hang out right here trying to keep the fish catching going we are sitting right out I mean we’re in downtown Montgomery basically so the river kind of runs through town right here we are just K hanging out listening to cicas watching little bass fishing here on the Alabama Bass Trail it has been a productive morning for a lot of teams but then a lot of teams have had to work and bounce around to be able to to get their their bites to produce changeing conditions Rising water lots of current dirty water cooler temperatures lots of changes today for it’s kind of watch F in here we talk about some of the past events here June we were here in 2020 we saw 18 PBS 21 Oz 2021 we were here in September we saw 1666 wi April 9th of 2022 that’s when Brian Stiffler and Wesley Gore came back to the dock at 10:30 with 2019 enjoyed some pizza and waited for weighin to start and then last year Adamson and Lloyd 2023 with 1699 so we’ve had some good weights here in the past guys have been saying that probably around 18 lbs here today is kind of the goal but based on what we’ve been seeing don’t know for sure we’re going to have a lot of 18lb bags so be interesting to see when wein comes in this afternoon for is for oh and just like that we got a fish catch think it’s going to be short though oh yes you want call that one a keep her yeah you made a bait change she makes a cast and she catches the fish how about that could have almost called it that way good job puts three in the Box d we got three in the Box over here what you got three in the box I have got for the viewers they can see this you can’t but we pulled into this pocket it’s interesting one of the competitors said there’s some guys over there behind that Island put on a clinic in the flooded lily pads and boy are they pretty I don’t know they said they were catching them on a Buzz bait and that is what I would love to be throwing through here is a dang Buzz bit across this so the lily pads are you know some of them are 2 3 in the the very tips of some of the leaves are sticking out of the water and then a lot of them are like he said a foot to 2 feet underwater he claims that these guys up here to our right were putting on a buzz baake Clinic earlier and I am very anxious to see this might be Adams and Adams who we were looking for earlier and I’m going to pull out the trusty iPad it does not appear that this is Adams and Adams but so on this bank so we’ll just point this out on the other side of of that little island there is the river so we’re just off of the river slack water it’s not blowing in here obviously it’s protected by the current and then you’ve got these lily pads basically from I don’t know 20 ft off the boat all the way to the bank there’s lily pads and I have got many questions for these guys cuz if this is true I don’t think this is Adams and Adams if the tracker is right but whever is these guys put on Buzz bake clinic so and if it’s not these guys things could get real awkward here in a second so if you’re if you’re watching y’all just hang on tight hey guys what’s y’all’s boat number 208 there is a rumor from across the lake that says somebody was putting on a Buzz bait clinic in here was that y’all but I call yeah so did you catch any on it got one gotcha gotcha so just fishing over all this yeah gotcha well I was just saying on I’ve got K and Luke and Jason in my ear I was just saying if these aren’t the guys that put on the clinic it’s going to be awkward cuz I was told that someone put on a clinic so someone put on a clinic here today it was not these guys they caught one fish but um you know who knows how about the cicas back there in the forest that’s crazy ain’t it we got a tough battle on the top water are well good luck guys man yeah I know it oh there you go there you go there’s a report he said there’s third four in here so that makes me not feel so bad I’m going to go to the trusty iPad again Adams and Adams we’ve been chasing them boat number that’s boat number 10 we were on them this morning that was the first boat we started on okay so Adams and Adams they’re running as fast as possible away from us and we’ve chased them all the way down the river so it looks like in the pocket where we were look there’s a group of guys on down this River and you hate to you know we always hate to say this but these guys are known ABT catchers winners past winners Anglers of the Year Miss K called it out earlier but there’s a little about one mile stretch of river down there that every tracker we’ve got is in one little stretch of river and my gut tells me that there are a lot of fish biting down there but Luke rain from down there this morning and said that there was no cell phone service so it’s a doing the live is a double double edged sword cuz if you want to run to where all the boats are you got to hope that there’s there’s live coverage down there so we may have to I don’t even know if anyone’s on live with me right now but we may have to throw to somebody else for a brief moment to even make a game plan where to go next I’m right here Darion so you know I can run back up for you if I need to I was I was running my yapper and uh we’re getting close to that bush light breakdown time yeah yeah it’s about where it was yeah so we’re just a few minutes away from that so I guess I won’t run anywhere then you want to tell them about the break or you want me to tell them about this break there you we me and Jason are sitting here arguing like yall like kids uh Jason’s always right though in a few minutes we’re going to the official round and from the Alabama River it’s been an exciting day today this is the fourth stop of the Alabama bath Trail South Division we have been a good portion of the lake is without self coverage let’s just say it that way and kind of the midsection of the lake is what we’re able to see we spent a lot of time this morning in the golf course area I rolled in there this morning and it was let’s just call it a Shad spawn it was a kind of a Shad spawn that was kind of going away the guys that said earlier in practice they noticed some Shad spawns in there and they felt like it was on the tail end of it but they said you know what we don’t really have anything else the water Rose here overnight as you can see we’re up the the river right now and the current is just flowing the water has been rising all night long it’s going to Peak this afternoon so a lot of the teams that were fishing up Shallow said probably the chances were that their spots were just going to kind of be blown out so they kind of just scrambled this morning that was a team of Anthony Goggins and CJ Knight who are right there at the top five in the AI and they really need to hold on to that and they actually need to make some ground up they got about 18 points separated them in first place all right and what they’re going to do today is they just said you know what we’re going to Fish by the seat of our pants probably our shallow are is blown out we’re just going to leave the ramp and go right into the golf course area we were on them we followed them right they were boat number four when they took off this morning we followed them right in there we were on them really quick and they caught their first fish by the time Luke was probably calling boat number 170 they quickly got that one in the Box it was a three pounder they easily moved on down the bank ran this little stretch back and forth back and forth throwing a swim jig not long after that they were able to catch a four pounder so here we are really early in the morning and they’re sitting on about seven lbs which they said was really bonus bonus for them quickly they just kind of lost a couple fish in there it was the same fish they felt like had Bitten Twice they threw their swim jig in there and it and it hit it twice and they missed it moved over again and lost another four pounder so you got to capitalize on those I hope those don’t come back to bite them literally at the end of the day and cost them some of their aoi points they did catch another small keeper while we were in there we’ve since moved out to the river and you can see the current is Flowing we’ve been on a couple teams here and there they’re just fishing these current seams and catches these spotted bass so daran’s been out here as well as well as Luke I don’t know that we’re going to be able to catch up with Luke like I said with with this coverage it’s really kind of spotty but Daran I think you’ve got a good sale signal tell us a little bit about the area you’re in yeah man I I think exactly what you said is right the main I I think story of the morning is going to be a guy or or a team that slid into a spot was able to capitalize on the Shad spawn bite I do believe it was there and you know you saw it happen and it could be those guys because if you look on the tracker they’ve ran down to the area of the lake where there’s no service uh taking a ride out of the ramp and running probably 20 minutes or so there’s a stretch of river that Kay talked about earlier I’ve pulled it up on the map it’s just it’s a it’s a dead zones for us it doesn’t really make a ton of sense for us to run down there but there’s about a one mile stretch of River where there’s so many names and they’ve been there all day the guys who always catch on the ABT past winners past angle of the Year winners um multi-time winners all of those people who you know normally know what’s going on they’re all in the same stretch of river so my prediction for this tournament is that yes we saw good coverage today we had a lot of fun today and we saw some good fish catches this morning however my prediction is weigh-ins will show a different the top 10 20 guys will we we maybe we didn’t cover them or we haven’t seen them yet I think the fishing is probably really good in that area specifically basing that off of how many I use air quotes on this bigname guys guys that we know who who normally catch them those guys are all in the same area and there there’s only one reason for that if they weren’t biting though all of those guys are too good they would have moved and and especially knowing those guys’ names they’re Runners and Gunners and they don’t stick around if the fish aren’t biting they’re all stuck in the same exact spot my prediction weigh-ins starting at 2:30 are going to be fireworks I’m still saying over 19 lbs even though we haven’t seen that today that is my prediction uh I’ve got an airod in my ear I cannot hear Luke Duncan’s Readiness but Luke if you’re there I’ll throw it to you K if if not I’m going to toss it over to you thank you Dar and thank you Jason and thank you Luke I know Luke is not in U able to be on the wrapup with us something went out with his uh live backpack so he is on his way back to the ramp but one of the things we talked about earlier this morning and and is going to be the story of the day is the water level the water level is rising set Crest about midday today and then start dropping how that is going to to affect the fishing I think we’ll see at weighin it’s going to be interesting as Luke questions the Anglers when they come across the stage of who caught them early and who caught them when the water started to fall so I think that’s going to be the story of the day is uh who caught them in the high water and um and who was able to capitalize on that falling water I think we’re going to have more time in the high water than we’re going to have in the falling water uh but certainly Curran is playing a role here and it’s going to be interesting I know Daren mentioned uh the name Nam the bigname guys in the Alabama Bass Trail you’ve got guys who have won this event before you’ve got guys who’ve top fived in this event before Anglers of the Year multiple time Anglers of the year in that same area going to be really really interesting to see how it all
