Full Highlights TV Show – Barbados Legends hosted by Ian Woosnam 2024

It was a dramatic final day at Apes Hill for the conclusion of the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian Woosnam. The opening event of the Legends Tour’s 2024 season was not short of movement on the leaderboard and 54 holes wasn’t enough to find a winner either.

Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg had the round of the day and the new course record with a 65. He birdied two of the first three holes and then made five more in a run of six holes around the turn from the 7th to 12th as he moved, at that stage, into a share of the lead.

A couple of dropped shots on the way back after that dented his challenge though and he would end the week at -8. That would be the same score at the event’s conclusion for the 2003 PGA Championship winner Shaun Micheel. The American made 68, 67 and then a Sunday 70 which featured three birdies and two bogeys, as he came up a couple of shots shy of his playing partners in the final three-ball. “I’m pretty disappointed – I mean, I didn’t putt well.

I missed three putts from probably ten feet and I three-putted number nine from twenty feet for par. I hit it well, made a kind of a silly bogey on 16. Scott Hend recorded a 68 and a 66 at Apes Hill through the opening two rounds and he would go toe-to-toe with Peter Baker throughout the final day.

Two-under-par to the turn, he was level with the man who has been the form player on the Legends Tour over the past year. However, a bogey at the 10th and a double bogey five on the 16th after finding the water – left him a tough task. Baker had come into the final day after back-to-back rounds of 67 through the first two days.

His final round would see him get to the turn in two under-par and be level for his back nine up until the 18th tee where he would hold a one shot lead over Hend. Baker’s tee shot at the 18th found the fairway bunker and he missed the fairway with his next shot, before three-putting the final green for par.

This while Hend made the edge of the green in two and then two putted to get into the clubhouse with a round of 69 – just as Baker did – both on ten under-par. A play-off followed, down the 9th hole – Baker making par while Hend could only make bogey, ensuring that the man who won four times last season and claimed the MCB Road to Mauritius title – started 2024 in the same manner and layed down a gauntlet for the rest nd leving Baker delighted:

“Absolutely brilliant! It was a really tough day for us and it went right down to the wire, If I’m honest, I didn’t really think I was going to win. It was a funny day of just try to hang in there. I didn’t really have all my game with me, but I just tried to not make too many mistakes.

“I just got it a bit right down the 18th. It was a good par to make, but everything was difficult today, so I’m really delighted. “I knew it was really tight and I just felt that it was going to go down all the way to the wire all day. Whether it would be Shaun, Scott or myself, it was just either a good shot here or a bad shot that might make the difference.

“I just thought if I can get a good few days and try to play some good golf, if I can get a chance last day to win then even better. I had a lot of support all the way around – it’s great that they supported me, I’m very grateful for that.”

For Hend itt was a disappointing end to his week. He won the WINSTONgolf Senior Open last year in his first appearance on the Legends Tour and was also runner-up in the Vinpearl DIC Vietnam Legends, but he’s frustrated not to be leaving Barbados with the trophy:

“Not many positives to take from this after not winning really, but I played nicely. I let myself down in a couple of holes. Peter played solid golf and then, unfortunately, I missed a short par on the playoff hole. That’s just golf!” The prize presentation, on Apes Hill’s 19th green (a fun island green par 3 the members use for deciding tied matches), saw the tournament host Ian Woosnam give his good friend the trophy as well as his prize for winning the MCB Road to Mauritius – a personally engraved Rolex watch.

[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I’m so pleased to be back here in Barbados hosting this tournament at this wonderful place Apes Hill I’ve been coming to Barbados for the last 30 years and I’m sure everybody’s going to love being here this week [Music] I didn’t set out to sort of win the order Mar just thought of go go out there and try and play well and give yourself a lot of chances and you know managed to take my chances I think that was that was the big thing and uh obviously ended up number one it’s exciting actually I think it’s um you know nice nice to have done it gain a bit of Confidence from it and uh you know obviously just want to try and get back and playing somewhere near that I learned so much last year what I can do better so we’re just going to try to put the POS together and just you know do my best see what happen it’s nice to be to be able to come out here and eventually start the tour and and get going and see all all the guys again after 4 and a/ half months of doing nothing we want to see the world you know and the more places we travel to that we haven’t been to the better really branched out I think uh I think it’s a great uh great for the brand itself to grow the game around the world and and um no the places start then Barbados it’s 15 years since the Legends tour was last here and it’s a real treat to have Barbados back on the schedule especially at this incredible venue Apes Hill Ian wam absolutely loves it here our tournament host and so do his peers what a wonderful little place this is uh Great Golf Course bit of wind Island atmosphere can’t wait to get going course is in lovely lovely shape some great holes on the course and uh par FS are reachable all of them and there some short par fours as well and uh I think getting that P working that would that would be a key to low scoring this week I love the people here very hospitable the golf course is Fant fantastic and the facilities is great so it’s going to be a great style of the season this will be the first professional event that Apes Hill has hosted since it was redesigned a couple of years ago we have the members playing this course daily um but now hosting a tournament it gives us a chance to see you know in real tournament conditions what the how the course stands up and obviously see them battle it amongst themselves but the the thing I’m most interested to see there’s a course record actually out there up for grab so hopefully that’ll be a low one for the for the this week let’s find out a bit more about the challenge the players face with the man in the no tournament host Ian wam Ian fantastic to be here at Apes here with you hosting what does it mean to you to be hosting the Barbados Legends I played my first uh seniors event here in Barbados when I turned 50 and that was 17 years ago so I played a couple of times and then it uh it it stopped and it’s been a challenge to get the the tournament back here after 15 years and I’m so proud to get it and to be the host you know just to fetch these guys to come out here and see this beautiful golf course I’m lucky to be an ambassador for this great golf course on this Resort you know I’ve been living in Barbados now for 30 years and it’s such a wonderful place to come in the winter beautiful course but a Stern test tell us about the challenge they’ll face this week well you know you’re going to get some holes that which you can really score on and then there’s other holes that you’re going to strugle on and look let’s take this hole for a start this is the the fourth hole you driving downhill and then you’re getting down here you’re coming into this little low Point here but you got to go back up and the wind is right behind you the wind is usually coming from the Northeast and the green is up above you but the grain is running away so it’s very difficult to stop the ball so youve really got to strike it well to make it check on the green yeah loads of elevation change around here the wind as you say a constant Factor but those green complexes they’re something else aren’t they what’s going to be a challenge for the pros is that you’ve also got to think if you’re going to miss the green where are you going to miss it because if you miss it in the wrong spot it’s going to be very difficult to get it up and down well it’s brilliant to be here it’s great to have you as the host and thank you for your insights all right no problem coming up later in the show we Explore More of the wonderful Barbados with reigning Legends tour number one Peter Baker and we’ll see the best of the final round action here at the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian woen but now let’s see what happened in the early rounds Robert Cole’s got the 2024 Legends tour season underway with the first t-shot of the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian wam the Welshman started the week with a 73 in round one and wam followed that with a solid 72 in round two including this birdie at the eth to be three over pass after 36 holes two-time major Champion anel Cabrera opened up with rounds of 70 and 68 in his Legends toward debut to leave the Argentine just four shots off the lead Adon de Silva got off to a hot start and this bird2 at the eight helped him to the turn in minus five he had a couple of Bogies on the back line to shoot 68 and a 70 on day two 2022 Legends tour number one James Kingston also start started well as he raced to six under through 14 holes he had to settle for a 67 after Drop shots on 16 and 18 and he got to five under with a 70 on Saturday 2015 US Open Champion Michael Campbell started the season with two rounds in the 60s this par save at8 helped him to a 69 and he went one better with a five birdes 68 in round two another of the former winners in the field sha mckel was also in contention the American got to 7 under with 12 red numbers in the first 36 holes this one at the eighth and Peter Baker picked up right where he left off last season the 1993 rer cut player began with a bogey 367 and shot the same number in round two despite three Bogies Scott hen had a 68 in round one and posted a cost record 66 on Saturday this brilliant Eagle at the par 59th was the highlight and the big hitter added six birdies mixed with three Bogies it’s Baker and hen tied at eight under with one round to go but it’s a tight leaderboard packed with major Champions former Ridder Cup players and prolific winners yeah I felt like uh FL played a bit better today actually and uh just just sort of got a bit sticky on the on my last five or six holes um missed a few puts but uh it’s tough out there you know I hold a fair share so it was it overall it was a good day oh look I’m looking forward to playing with the guy who wins all the trophies at here see how he plays see what see what he’s all about I’ve heard a lot of stuff about how how the old boys can still play and how he wins trophy so I’m going to be really interested to see his style of play the final three ball of Scott hen Peter Baker and Shawn mckel are locked and loaded on the first T behind me here at the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian WAM and with so many scoring opportunities he’s coming on the front nine let’s see who can get off to the hot start Shawn mckel is looking for a maid and legends tour win Scott hen won on his debut at last year’s Winston golf Senior Open and Peter Baker won four times in 2023 including last time out at the MCB TOUR Championship three-time DP World Tour winner Michael Lindberg picked up a couple of early birdies to move to four under swed converted after the this tidy chip at the driveable second and made it backto back birdies at the next hole Q school graduate Andrew Marshall was another to take advantage of the second with this superb wedge after a more conservative t- shot he added another at the fourth to get within three shots of the lead pars all round for the final three ball on one so it Remains the Same at the top but lunberg the Silva and Marshall are getting closer we go to sha mckel on that driver ball second Paul yes Walter down the left hand side a big bailout up the right and a generous pin back left so missing right isn’t a bad thing here and back bunker is also good Peter played behind me the first two rounds and I was able to watch his shots on this second hole it was a callup hole he found the middle of the green on both occasions can he do it for a third time got a stop back bunkers waiting oh okay hung on to the Kush but I wonder if he might rather be in the sand there it could be a tricky lie forward to adalon De Silva with his approach into the fourth played uphill as woozy told us before yeah a really really tricky one to get the distance right there’s a step in the green here in the pins on the top level has he made it up yes he has what a great shot something you might not see in the pictures the elevation change on almost every shot is so severe isn’t it Paul it is interesting Scott hend laying up and that’s why good game management from Scott more than one way to skin a cat he’s left himself below the hole for the part which is important mckel from the back bunker got to land this soft it will run away from him and swing from right to left just didn’t quite carry it far enough chance for birdie great to have the 2003 PGA Championship winner in the field and pter for Baker absolutely with all the sand around that ball you don’t want any loft there down the right go on Pete will it make the journey it’s a good line what a lovely putt put is always a great choice from off the green the Sila with the chance to get to six under par the man that chased Peter Baker all the way in the order of Merit last year of course downhill downwind down grain oh and he’s done it again the dson great P it’s incredible four month offseason and the leader boards like it was at the end of last year this man an addition to it though and a nice addition it’s a great addition another major winner on the Legends tour right to left slow putt this one oh just didn’t have it enough Pace in it almost feels like a bogey making a fall on the second yeah a couple of players I spoke to earli in the week thought when they first pulled up to that second hole it was a long par three rather than a driveable Par Four played a practice round with Greg he’s playing really really well Hing it a long way this was the club that he was struggling with but not here beautifully rolled in 15th on the order of Merit last season from only eight starts a talented player I think we’ll see him in and around many leader boards this season now this one is outside the right here uphill it’s slow needs plenty of pace on it Bosch straight in took the conservative route off the T and rewarded for that with the birdie to move to nine under Baker of course with this even da part to match hand inside the hole from this distance for Pete good [Applause] three four continents represented in the top four players in a truly International leaderboard here at Apes Hill Baker and hen still out in front join us after the break for more from the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian wooer [Music] welcome back to the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian wam the beian hospitality is quite rightly renowned the players absolutely love it here and you get the genuine feel that the people of Barbados love having the Legends tour back on the island as well oh it’s absolutely incredible I mean beautiful surroundings um incredibly skilled golfers for us it’s an opportunity to showcase all the assets we have on island uh so we take the opportunity to showcase to the world what we can do before the tournament Peter and Helen Baker immerse themselves in the sights sounds and tastes of Barbados hello hello how are you guys today fun how are you R I’m doing well we are going to Thunder Bay Thunder Bay we’ll be meeting Chef Adrian come back oh yes wear um some P dedes for you it was a long time ago maius but it’s great to be out here in Barbados such a beautiful place and uh Great Golf Course yeah so we’re heading it’s still New West Coast yeah PL Coast but more towards north of [Music] the we go again last year I hit the right shots at the right time you know hopefully we can do that again and see where we end up it’s such a beautiful island though SN book yeah it is yeah I love it when the the sun just blist on the sea it’s so pretty yeah yeah I’m tremendously proud of him I mean I see all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes I know how much it means to him you know you do look back and you think that’s a great [Music] achievement okay from the bay right oh yeah so it’s right next door to melin’s then yeah yeah looks good you get a taste for it you you want to win you know I always wanted to be competitive I love the competitive side of it so what I’m doing taking a chair and St that off the bre oh wow thank go yeah rest of go for this little Sal on top of this that fruit is very very not what I was expecting I love it it’s right in my street that [Music] [Applause] [Music] so H was your first grade fruit experience yeah that was not what I expected I have to say that it’s very different isn’t it can’t be that a bit of coconut juice oh so it’s just about trying to be in there the last day trying to have a chance to win and now luckily last year it came off a few times if it comes off the same this year great but just giving that thrill of being competitive is what I really look forward to so the next St will be seashed a seashed I know well there’s to many good places along here in so spoiled for [Music] choice not going to change the formula going to try and you know stick to the same sort of plan and um just try and just try and play well [Music] from pre-tournament fun and games back to a t final round at Apes Hill Christian sea had bogied the first before reeling off seven Pars in a row and the Frenchman drained this for a fantastic Eagle at the ninth to make the turn in one under Andrew Marshall made his first bogey of the day and only third of the week at seven but he bounced back with this two at the par 38 and circled another red number at nine Andel Cabrera went bogie birdie at six and seven before taking advantage of his length to set up this opportunity for Eagle on nine it dropped to move him to minus 6 last season’s MCB road to Marius number two Adil Silva made it three birdies in the first five holes here at the fifth he would bogy s and birdie n to sit on Seven under at the turn Shawn mckel set up his first birdie of the day by expertly using the Contours with his t-shot at the fifth he would add passs at the next three holes to stay at minus 7 tide Leader Peter Baker had six Pars in a row from the third he hit this excellent pitch from way below the green to get up and down at the par five six Scott hendy matching Baker shot for shot and there’s still no separating the two through eight holes lunberg is now just one behind following four birdies in a row from the seventh H at nine which is a really really good scoring chance well reachable in two for everyone in the field downhill downwind and boy if you land in the right spot it will kick forward and run like billio down there hen’s t- shot might never come down well he won’t have much left in with his second shot now Pete gives it a good clip new dri this year the only thing that’s changed in his bag from that successful year last year and he likes that marching off after the tea Let’s see we can see this one land and kick on Bang there it go this over the road that’s over 400 yards what a shot not quite as far as Scott’s Ball but Peter will be happy when he gets down there now lunberg to continue the momentum the best round on the course by a mile another player who’s been working hard on his swing speed trying to head it a long way but the putter work in there for Michael Scott H’s course record from yesterday might be under threat again Jody’s getting these course records that he wanted definitely Peter got around about 150 yards think from here but it’s only a wedge downhill downwind keep it right of the flag pull that one a bit but it’s okay he have that for an eagle I mean this is so far down it’s absolutely absurd for pen doesn’t look like he likes it no he looked like he chunked that one he did chunk it but it’s managed to crawl on there as I say downhill downwind no spin on the ball did him the favor get some sand in that David Frost what an effort this is from the 64 year old fantastic from Frosty new knees got had all sorts of problems healthwise but great to see him out here playing nicely inside the top 10 and a chance to move one better for Baker quick this one Paul yeah not too bad coming from left to right here for Peter oh always pacing these greens are dried out as the the wind all the week go on well you could see it trying to get back to the hole on the left hand side little bit High there for Pete but he’ll looks like he got a tap in for a birdie Michael Lindberg this for a bogy unfortunately on 13 you can see a few buggies in the Fairway as well serious walk especially in the Heat this course yeah yes we were all glad of the uh the ride on the boogies big distance between the ninth green and the 10th T so happy for that and great put for Michael 13 is a stunning golf hole fist pumped it in that could be important as important as some of the birdie puts he’s had CU it is a tough closing stretch at this course H for Eagle this is a good chance right to left here could not replicate the three that he made here yesterday but the simplest of tappins for birdie to move to 10 under and Scott hen is the first man to double digits he look frustrated there was a good put there come on frosty left to right here this is another great hole dog leg from right to left go on go on just a little cautious Mars a drop of voo Mr Frost had his own wine label yeah always good company nice to see him out playing mckel who’s been quiet really on this front line in comparison to his two playing Partners really tricky though even those short puts you normally would roll those in but just the wind and drying greens and there’s one for the water the front line does play much easier than the back and he’s just not made the most of it well momentum thing like we saying about being cautious you can’t really rattle these short putts in that you would normally do show Mount of do it Pete yeah the tap in there Baker and hen are going blow for blow but don’t discount the chasing pack yet lunberg has serious momentum and could post a very competitive number who can wrestle control of the Legends tours season opener [Music] ahead of the tournament James Kingston Michael Campbell and Adon Des Silva had a bit of fun with a skimming Challenge on the 19th hole at Apes Hill OH Close not too bad that was close oh c it that is terrible it’s on the green though the idea is [Music] to oh look it up oh what a shot there we go no oh it’s going to be good come on come on oh yes go what a shot there we go nice job oh no I’m so unlucky oh how do you do that he’s done it oh I don’t know no the slopes called it further away oh my goodness how’s that his got three on the green out of five that is three out of five is Talent the B adalon Silva with the win but who will take the trophy in the main tournament Peter Baker got the solo lead when Scott hen Bogi the 10th but the Australian recovered with a birdie at 11 and he was on top after Baker missed this parut at 12 the tap in for his first bogey of the day dropped him to nine under so hen leads by one lindberg’s momentum has been halted by Bogies on 13 and 17 but Marshall and mckel are still well in the hums at minus 8 the final group are heading to 14 and Ian wam can tell us all about this gorgeous hole look at those palm trees out there Ian how do we tackle this one first of all you got to miss him you know beautiful isn’t it you know you got to get it out there about 240 into this wind off the L left you coming from the Northeast all you want to do is try knit the Fairway you don’t want to go too far left it runs down to get it to the right is you’re going to be in not in a very good light so main thing get it on The Fairway what sort of distance are you looking to hit and what does that leave in if I can hit it 240 down here it’s a little downhill but then I make myself a little wedge or a little n99 into the green off a little up so that’s when when it gets tricky hen seeing a bit more of a tiger line than woozy recommended yeah and certainly with the Wind off the left hand side there he could easily run out on the right if he went too straight well that was an absolutely monstrous hit Baker a little more similar to how our tournament host recommended yeah just down the left side of the Fairway letting it just ease back to the center good sh good swing again from Peter now up to the final hole and Michael lunberg who’s got this great round going a birdie here at the last would set a new course record and this is a dangerous shot kit down the hill Big Hollow on the right water and Hazard down the left hand side he’s played this beautifully go on keep going keep going back to 14 henden Baker in the Fairway and so is wzy Ian 240 yards middle of the Fairway where you always are but sometimes the grain can have a serious effect and the different colors that you see when you’re looking at the grass tell us about that absolutely you can see here now that you know I’m into the grain here you can see how it’s it’s rubbing up and here it’s down the grain so you know I was talking about the inside of this Pros how they play gol because if I’m going to hit that little shot now when I try to hit it with a wedge I’ve got about 120 yards but hit it with the wedge it’s just going to pop up in the air other than if I’m you know so what I’m going to play as little nine on that’s going to help me to keep the ball down because of that grain if I go forward now five yards I could able to keep a wedge down because I’m going in with the grain great advice from Wii and we could see what Scott hen did back on the ninth where he was going into the Grain and took a big diot can Baker judge the grain here uphill on 14 just about creeps it on the front edge yeah he’ll be happy with that it’s underneath the hole okay good shot from Pete ball above the feet for Shawn mckel and the LIE will always dictate the shot that you’re going to play Shan looked like he was a little shallow and clipped that one off the top and there’s a spin to show it beautiful lunberg for eagle and a new course record of 64 C it from off the green this is very very quick and difficult to judge down the slope down the grain down the wind that’s a pretty good effort from there yeah it might look average but with all those things going against him as you said that’s a really really well judged P this is an insane drive from hen he’s nearly driven the green he has but look how he’s open the face there increases the bounce what he doesn’t want to do is the Leading Edge to stick in he’s played it well spin oh just G on a little bit that’s a nice shot very tricky those short shots lunberg for Birdie on 18 it would still be a course record well done Michael 7268 65 beating Scott hen 66 Yesterday by one and setting the Target in the clubhouse at eight under but Baker can move to 10 good opportunity here below the hole that’s gone left early doors some of the puts are tricky to read on these greens Peter not doing anything stupid but he just definitely didn’t give that enough land to the right there we had wzy describing how the grain affects things in the Fairway and it really does on these greens as well yeah more so on the green and here is our tournament host what a career it has been for him Master’s champion of course eight Rider Cup appearances a captain c as well and if the putter from off the green is good enough for him it’s good enough for the rest of us a bad put will always get closer than a bad chip but that was a good put from W there this ninth his final hole of the week having started the final day on the 10th what a fantastic host he’d been chatting to all the players now this is a tricky one from Shan it’s quick it’s sharp the grain will get it never online that the approach shot deserved more really it was a beautifully judged pitch wasn’t it it’s a four but that’s the way it’s been this week frustrations You’ got to keep those under control good shots don’t necessarily mean the right number on the scorecard so Scott hen after pounding a drive way down here has this for a two- shot lead wow the grain again got that one a left to right putt chance missed well I’d already given that to him to be honest wam for a closing birdie not his best week on the course but brilliant for the Legends tour to have hosts like him yes always willing to share wisdoms and experiences was great to have him around plus seven in the end for the Welshman but always nice to end on a birdie all three of the final group will feel like an opportunity missed on 14 but especially hand lunberg won’t be going anywhere with a tough finish here we’re all set for a spectac spacular ending in Barbados after this short [Music] break welcome back to the exciting finale of the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian wam it’s been a tight battle but Scott hen has opened up a two- shot Advantage for the first time all day with a birdie at the 15th so he’s two ahead with only three holes to play and now let’s take a closer look at the final PA three this 16th is one of the most magnificent tea boxes I’ve ever been on in my entire life behind me that’s the Atlantic Ocean but follow me around this way so the view that the players have looking down on this par three green 235 yards the Caribbean Sea in the background it is stunning Ian but a little more scary if you’ve got a club in your hand absolutely I don’t know what is it 235 yards wind down off the left a little bit water in front of you green running away from you grain running away it’s a extremely difficult shot only thing you’ve got is the AL of the wind you know to make it shorter and it’s downhill 10 yards is so as well the main thing for me is to make sure I can hit it high enough and strike it properly if you if you missed it a little bit fat or a little bit thin you’re not going to get over that water and you know you’re looking at Double bogy straight away one of the great things about this hole though versatility we’ve got other t- boxes might we see that in the tournament as well it move forward and then a change in the pin positions absolutely I think if we’re going to play back here we’ve been looking to move the pin back to the back left to leave a little bit more you can land it on the front of the green to run back to it but as we move down to the t’s will make the the obviously the pins a little bit more difficult front left front right you’ve got to hit a great shot and the te has been moved up Paul yes 185 yards six yards down the hill and the pin front left 12 on five off the left hand side oh stay there stay there oh no well hen can’t believe it now the further right you go the longer the carry is and he’s missed that by about two yards that’s all so the door is open for Peter Baker wind down off the left 79 for Peter oh wow that Landing tells you how well he struck that iron beautiful shot he’s developed a very nice habit for hitting the right shot at the right time in the last 12 months forward to svea looking to close out his good week at 18 yeah and this is not an easy shot either laid it way back probably in the Fairway bunker oh what a shot now stop now that just shows you how hard and difficult these greens are wow looked like it was Stone dead so Hand now playing his third from all the way back there after finding the water off the tea that’s an excellent recovery though yeah good shot there dropping zone some 40 yards further on than the t- Box he’s played well there this is Andrew Marshall turned 50 Midway through last year had some good finishes ninth in Italy fifth in Vietnam before going and getting onto the tour through Q School how did that not drop how did that not go in the hole what a great week for for Mary though well played came through the tour school yeah seven under par total good last couple of rounds 6867 over the weekend slow put here back up the hill miss the green to the left pitch to here this to save his par I read that one wrong as well Sean well he also birded 15 so he was well in it but we’ve seen the putter perhaps has just let him down once or twice today yeah be disappointed but it’s a good week so far still got two birdy holes coming up yeah it’s a volatile finish here I can’t believe it’s gone that far past it’s even further from this camera angle good news is he’s back up the hill into the wind into the grain oh wow another good week though from Christian yeah getting one shot better every day for a 207 total and six under will have him comfortably inside the top 10 then I had this pu Peete it’s up the hill it’s slow and it will break from right to left get get oh that is huge what a dagger the birdie two for Baker and hen still has that part you saw him putting the ball down there just to save bogy wow what a p okay Scott I’ve seen that it’s going to break from the right oh just too firm just too firm good line oh double bogey just at the wrong time it’s all change a three shot swing on the 16th and that man Peter Baker now holds a One-Shot lead both pars 17 as well so they go to that devilishly tricky down hill par five with one shot difference Philip price double bogey at the first today and never quite recovered now always gives you a bit of a a jolt when you do that but another good week from Phil he’s always on that leaderboard heck of a player yeah nice to see the man that took down Phil Mickelson in the right a cup in contention Pete can reach the par five and two out of this Fairway bunker but he’s got to be careful Hazard down the left hand side where it’s heading oh no oh no well we couldn’t quite see where it finished behind those signs so the tournament in the balance three DP World Tour wins for Scott heny still plays on the Asian tour against the youngsters finished runner up in the New Zealand open earlier this year so he’s got game at whatever level and just an iron for his second he smashed that drive miles down launched the iron into the atmosphere but look at it look at it look that just goes to show the slope on this 18th whoo now there’s water just behind that as well Brave shot one behind he’s an aggressive player always has been Alan Baker Peter’s wife watching on nervously she’s on the right of the Fairway she won’t know that Pete’s actually got a lie in the hazard here the penalty area area that’s he’s third now it’s got to stop that’s going to go away that’s going to go right to the back of the green it’s not going to stop for some time whoa that is very much in threep country just got to land this one on the green Shan here as we’ve seen everything runs away from him oh look that nice sound wow he’s done well didn’t expect that one to finish short of the hole played that beautifully he could have another 50 from there and struggle to keep it short of the hole with a single one of them huge Eagle Pat here for hend from The Fringe as quick as it was going down the hill it’s slow coming back up go on go on go on pretty good effort from there a little bit of meat left on that bone though you can see where Pete’s gone by now he’s going to have to give this a whack to get to the hole should swing from left to right birdie to win but surely thinking just get down in two what has he done there oh no nerves Fray this is a a really delicate but got to make this oh and he does with the last breath it just falls into the front edge of the hole so Peter Baker post minus 10 just see what it means to him Mel will hopefully tidy up before hen has his opportunity to take us to a playoff you can just see it’s just crusty and difficult I mean that was a sensation put from Pete frustrating for the former major winner mckel but a very good week and nice to see him out playing on the Legends tour yeah eight under par gets him in alongside Michael lunberg so Scott hen with this part to force the playoff be just on the right and firm and it goes wow what a good birdie got a tie what an incredible finish hend with a 69 as well to also get to 10 under but the drama on 16 and 18 and there’s still more to come Lumberg and mckel end up in tied third but Baker and hen still locked together so we’re going to a sudden death playoff I’ve got two T’s here number one and two want to draw draw take one one or two it’s back down the ninth of course the very reachable downhill par five Peter Baker with the honor he loves it can’t go left here bunkers down the right would be okay oh has he gone wide of those oh there’s trees and all sorts there both players have had very good fortune on this hole this week hen with an eagle and two birdies Baker with three birdies well he’s a bit fortunate here hend it was going further right than that it’s dropped off the trees but it’s cost him some distance that was a huge break for the Australian but he looks like he’s hit that fat there is a bunker short and right oh that’s going to be awkward so you might give hend the advantage on the T with his extra length and having played it in one shot better this week but right now it’s Peter Baker in the Box SE yeah that’s one of Pete’s wedges there maybe 50 51° full swing trying to get some spin on it looks good oh my word what a shot almost reminiscent of the fivewood in Marius at the MCB TOUR Championship the big shot in the big moment this is a really awkward some around about a 40 yard shot green running away from him to the left if you go for the full blast out yes he has done now he needs a bit of look on the bounce and roll wow wow how good is that that is a sensational shot one of the hardest shots you can play there couldn’t catch it clean with the water behind and the green running away from him caught it beautifully this for the championship kit yeah hens making him earn it with that great bunker shot this for eagle and the win oh it went right came back to the left and finished right behind the center of the cup oh wow so this length of P for hand here not dissimilar to the birdie P that he had on 18 to send us Beyond regulation slightly different angle maybe a left to rer here for him oh he didn’t see oh you didn’t see it oh give him this one I think we can give him this one normal service is resumed for Peter Baker it’s a fifth win in the last 12 months and his six Legends tour title in total [Music] and what a popular Champion Pizza [Applause] Baker Baker received the trophy from his former Ridder cup playing partner good friend and tournament host Ian wo I’m delighted yeah I mean I never thought you never thought about it obviously you know I just thought if we can get a good good few days into my and try and play some good golf and if I can get a chance the last day to to win that even better you know such a great Island me everybody’s been here this had a wonderful time great to come back and win is amazing just one event played but the 2024 MCB road to Marisha starts just as last year ended with Peter Baker sitting pretty at the top what a start to the 2024 Legends tour season but Peter Baker picked up right where he left off last year with another trophy for the mantle piece we’ll see you next time from Greece [Music]
