Golfing With Carlos Sainz!

going in we got a big one today boys Carlos signs the F1 driver we are playing golf with today you guys have maybe seen him on Netflix or on TV racing but I’m so intrigued and I’m going to have so many questions for him today we’re surprising him kind of I think he knows somebody’s bringing him clubs but I don’t think he knows who so we got all of his golf clubs here Taylor may just sent me all this oh [Music] we’re 39 minutes away we were supposed to play Trump dado this morning we had that all set up but it was car path only and it’s just hard for us to film when it’s car path only takes a lot longer so we’re going to the Miami Beach golf [Music] club we brought this for my friend for M got being an F1 driver has its really cool things which you can call trailor mid see that you’re going to say that you’re going to play with Grant yeah and they set you up these amazing golf clubs just for a day what do you normally shoot like 80 my best round is in a austa i play Augusta once that was your best round 78 you shot 78 at Augusta from members for me is short from members and that’s my best day of C ever first time I played it but why did I shoot because when I play in Intense or when I when it’s serious yeah I play a lot better than when I go and just hit it I want today to be intense let’s do it all right we’re both going blind into this today never seeing this golf course you’re ripping the cover off be too close for comfort now one it’s almost like when you were speaking Spanish with that guy you guys were no but you guys were almost like talking at the same time yeah like he was finish in a sentence and it was crazy yeah I’ve never you don’t speak any other languages no I took sign language so we were going to do a N9 hole match but now we’re going to do 18 holes stroke play if you make worse than a triple we write down triple you can’t go worse than a triple you like that room I like that I think for an amateur like me that rule when I play my group of friends we’re all seven eight handicaps that rule helps us to stay in play I like that let’s play one t we’re playing one t up were you guys at your coll I would say scratch no plus one or seen your videos man that swing is from a better than scratch I’ll say I’m scratch 12 under is that what we’re going with 12 12 under okay you lead us off your honor yeah I want you to lead us off here oh was trying to figure out it will be interesting to see I was I was thinking about that before this video I feel like a lot everyone knows what F1 is everyone’s seen drive to survive and I think what happens is a lot of young new audience is coming to us right so before it used to be only 40s higher because it used to be like a old school fun base and thanks to drive to survive we have a lot of young 15 years old 20 years old a lot of women are starting to work one 5 years ago that didn’t exist it was impossible that’s awesome 320 oh wait where does it go that way it’s got to go that way fill the whole way I think that’s the safe on like a six iron or something you can roll it up on the green I’m going to play it safe oh got through it I think you’re fine I got to ask you for someone like me who’s new to F1 what’s the steps to becoming an F1 driver when I was growing up F1 was in TV because a guy called Fernando Lonzo Spanish driver was winning in the the World Championships okay and was like I told my dad I want to be like fernan Alonso one day and be an F1 driver and I didn’t know how tough it was going to be it was going to be you need to go through all these different categories in go-karting prove yourself then find sponsorship from a yeah you raise go-karts 10 to 15 Gokarts if you do well and you’re lucky and you do everything right uh Red Bull Ferrari Mercedes all these teams have junior teams and they sign you as a junior red W signed me at the time when I was 15 because I was doing well in cting and from then they sponsored my career to do formula 4 Formula 3 Formula 2 Formula 1 so I know so you’ve been with Red Bull yeah you’ve been with Ferrari you’ve been with McLaren so I was Red Bull Renault Ferrari McLaren now Ferrari wow that’s crazy so you got to work up the ladder you got to work up the ladder we got 75 yards I’m going to go with a 60° 1200 card 12 shot lead a pouch how close is that a little short little short I’ll take it though just I’m going to have probably 15 ft up the hill for a birdie but I got to say Carlos impressed me on the Range his swing is really solid down down down down down a good too good little long hopefully I can budy I don’t have your short game grun no but you got you have really good action everything thing that you’re doing in your swing is really nice noow oh my God these Miami greens are faster than in Spain do you like putting is that your strong suit yeah I would say that that’s the part of the game that for me stays more consistent is your potty yeah that’s good nice I K thank you my friend thank you you were very nice I cannot believe that it literally pushed it out oh my goodness after the first hole I’m even par Carlos is now 10 under par so he’s a 10 shot lead still maybe I just need more pressure yeah I need to feel you’re closer you know I’m telling you you’re built for it [Music] all right I’m going to hit driver here I can’t lay up anymore Carlos is 10 under 10 shot lead here on the second hole it’s to turn I think over the bunker oh yeah yeah it’s good I just kind of pushed it a hair but yeah you can you can miss it left here pretty far I think it’s only 340 yep just right at the car path or over the our P nice good one nice shot was that bunker I don’t like those spurway bunkers that was a good swing though I mean that thing was Co so do you watch a lot of golf is that like kind of I watch too much golf for my girlfriend’s liking yeah is your girlfriend a golfer no she’s Scottish some really good golf courses in Scotland as you can imagine right oh yeah yeah you got a little just a little wedge shot you can hit like a full wedge out of there oh that’s not bad yeah got hopefully full yeah I mean you can hit 60° or 58° from here 75 I don’t like these shots but I’m going toit 70 yard fway bunk oh yeah oh yeah oh no that’s unfair that was I thought I had he a w one that was so good that was so solid do you like you don’t like do you like Green side bunker shots no I can hit them better but no I used to be a very good bunker player mhm and man I don’t know why I suddenly missed it lost it all you got to practice if you don’t practice it you you’re going to lose it with golf I need to try and practice more I have no time Grant I’m too busy Formula 1 racing I mean this is an awkward yardage you got to feel this in your hands it’s kind of like a clock system 50 could be here 75 90 so I’m trying to just take it back here oh too hard too hard sto it’s almost smarter to lay it back there where you have a full shot once you get up this close you have like 48 yards kind of awkward let see what Carlos does here let’s see how good his short game is cuz that’s what it’s going to come down to today this is a very short course once he gets settled in I know that he’s going to start playing some really good golf tough one again keep getting myself into tough spots today yeah that’s too much sunand no that a lot of s yeah yeah oh that’s better I’m on route to a double again big opportunity here to narrow the Gap we have a birdie putt up the hill right to left turning the end bit of a left to right now yep little left to right down the hill we have a trecky one good try that was a very good putt okay we got this for a par to narrow the Gap a little bit on Carlos nice one well now it’s eight under to even par so Carlos still has an eight shot lead he’s got off to a little bit of a rough start here double double there’s so much golf to play I know he’s going to come back here [Music] 150 I’m going to go with the nine iron here it’s not a full one there’s not much wind it’s kind of coming that way striping it yeah feel good good right there there it is come on Carlos I want to see a good one out of you what do you have don’t worry it will come pretty straight uphill falling stop stop a little left yeah I pulled it Carlos has he has a straight uphill probably six seven footer for par I’ve got this four the birdie to for sure narrow his lead again they’re not slow they’re not slow no we’re we’re giving them a chance we were giving them a chance nice come on come on baby it’s just got a little bit longer a little bit scarier now easy snuck it in there all right Carlos that’s a par par he maintains an eight shot lead on me the thing is like Carlos has has not made many bad golf swings all day like he’s hit really solid shots the entire day just got some bad breaks so he remains eight under I’m even Park I’m asking Carlos for teas and you I just gave him golf clubs this is bad i ph these one own don’t lose it man it’s a commodity today high high value commodity I keep looking I’m keeping an eye on them see if they come up more eight shot lead yeah how do you feel honestly not a great start I expected to keep at least a 10 shot lead over the first four or five that was kind of your goal yeah but then uh very quickly it went South from there and uh but now this first part should help a bit you kind of broke the ice you’re kind of settled in now and a good couple of PS also for the speed of the greens that we didn’t practice the pting before and the greens are quite quick for me at least let’s you’re kind of adjusted you’re good at these pretty good there I told Carlos I felt good on the Range I had a good warm-up session had a really good one down the left that’s fine open there y good right down the left over the bunker so right now the Red Bull car that Max is driving that’s the fastest car yes it’s how it work in Formula One in the end you always have a fast fastest car or the fastest cars you’re always going to win with the fastest car right it’s just there’s a very fast guy maxing that is also taking most advantage of it what makes formul one so special is that it’s not only the athlete it’s also the machine oh my God that was a really bad swing yeah you took a good D first bad swing at least took a got nice I’m going to use this red wll towel go yeah like the what happened there that’s a good thing to happen yeah I wish that would happen to my B FY FY FY okay do you put it a bit to your right foot or not I play normally in the center of my stance but I tricky one down the hill yeah it’s breaking a ton you go he didn’t really lose too much there I made a boogey I’m one over par you are six under so still have a seven shot lead on me tougher than I thought this Miami Beach C Club it’s not easy today you just had consistent doubles I’m Mr double you’re Mr double man today on the fifth hole here par five now we have a chance to make a birdie let’s birdie this one you have a seven shot lead after four holes that’s cool for you 472 man I want your swing is it how do I get you buy it or youing I’ll sell it to you if you want to give me a Ferrari I’ll give you my golf swing I think that’s going to be okay hopefully that stayed in I mean if it did stay in you might have a little tree trouble but tree trouble yeah I just I think it was quite long it’s just you hit it good it could be right up here by this fire hydrant going down down that right side maybe in someone’s home oh right here here it is please tell me this what do you feel the most comfortable with think I need to take my medicine and layup yeah with a Bunchy five oh yeah good shot really good nice you know you’ve had some some higher scores on these holes I think it’s good to just make some pars and get some confidence going yeah when the swing doesn’t feel right right you can make birdie from that good layup there solid shot 84 and do a par five though we can make how’d you know I know your distance is by now been starting you oh that’s got to go and I kind of pulled it the wind turned it a bit no I think it’s okay think you’re dancing should be on the green this is a chance for you to make your first birdie I want to see you break the ice here the birdie ice a little good soft hands weight left same thing I like that weight keep your weight on your left side pivot around that there you go so the bottoming out point is the same oh yeah oh my gosh go get up there be CH maybe little short that was tracking really good action there you didn’t even take a divot you kind of just picked it I like I like how you picked right off the and spieler come on got a chance here now to make a birdie hopefully I got an eagle CT we got this for our Eagle here okay not I mean not bad for some Jupiter hands nice to gain a shot here on Carlos he’s got that for he’s got 2et for par I have this for birdie could get me back to even par on the day nice one yeah it look like a birdie since the start good pot there you go that turns more caros thank you so Carlos now has a six shot lead after five holes coming now yeah we’re narrowing it quick 105 M which is my full 50 I’m going to go down I’m going 50° show me how it’s done this is a short one this is very nice wind oh I’m supposed to draw the wind stayed out there to the right yeah I was trying to play a little draw should be pin High just right a nice little short par three like this I feel like it’s overlooked on today’s golf courses they’re all so long here in hybrids and 3-woods into these greens this is kind of cool to have a wedge in our hands oh wow good strike man you hit that hard too too hard but you got to I feel like that was your most aggressive swing of the day like you rotated really fast through that ball I like that speed I like when I have full shots you see when I have aggressive and turn quick I don’t know how to swing half shots right I’m just full on all the time no that was great I got to ask you ask me what is it like racing against your teammate but also like you’re rooting for him but you want to beat him yeah how how does that Dynamic work so the way it works is number one comes the team number one rule in F1 is never have contact with your teammate once you respect that rule he’s just one more competitor that you want to beat he’s also the one that has the same car than you so he’s the only one you can be compared with you are trying to beat him even more because then it’s like you’re being directly compared cuz you have the same car so you’re being compared a lot heavier to your teammate yes especially the media in F1 and the teams they really try to create rivalries between teammates I’ve never had issues with them and uh yeah honestly we have good good buan between us two just when it comes to put the helmet on and race each other you want to you want to beat them you want to beat them and that’s fair that’s just like golf same same thing you’re not going to chip this no you think I should a guy like you I you’re actually right cuz I have to go over that giant path no I’m going to make this show you I love chipping in Carlos I’ve seen I’ve seen man you’re so good at these oh that was good wow what a great putt really good touch those are the Spanish hands I’m telling you you that’s a part of my game that Norm stays there yeah that was really solid we we tied that hole two pars Carlos stays at 600 I stay at [Music] even seventh hole here par 4 324 you don’t really need a driver so I’m going to lead us off here just hit a Hybrid try and stay short of the water out there going to kind of hit a stinger like a low chaser yes that’s a stinger that was it where was that right down in the middle that was that was a good one kind of like a low Riser because we’re struggling for this yeah oh did I break oh I probably probably I hit a stinger and that was our last T oh yeah that was pure great swing least don’t make the water great swing you know the other thing I heard about you guys do like neck exercises this is the driver F1 driver neck that’s your neck muscles right there huge so you work on them all the time they could work down in the car oh they do but then we do we do support exercises at the Jeep so it’s like we we keep mean they’re like coming out here oh they’re vag they’re big you can see right you the smallest Fairway on the course I mean it’s like 10 yards wide you hit it 83 yards here we’re going with a 60° probably try and land this 80 landed it been high yeah a little long in the rough no maybe it went a bit too far too far out of the rough kind of leaving the door open for Carlos here he’s got a chance guys hopefully you are all enjoying this video if you’re like myself and you’re new to F1 Carlos is in unbelievable F1 driver and people don’t realize how great of an athlete these guys are to race those cars and it’s cool to hear this cuz this is he’s doing it at the highest of the awesome birdie look and I have a long birdie putt kind of settled out this round still got a six shot lead on me I got to keep the pedal down woo down yeah take a positive away from that some days I struggle with contact with my putter it’s actually coming off really good today I’m going to go one ball left at least too consecutive oh my gosh I mean that’s like on the lip that was a good but come on give that that was great that was actually too good to not go in man you’re so good with that thing with that little spider in your hand me and Carlos tied that hole again you actually could have taken two leads now in the last two holes if you went birdie birdie it’d be a little weird right now but we’re head into our final hole on the front nine still has a six shot lead heading into nine hold on we’re wrong that was that was hole seven we’re on the hole eight right now two more to go on the front nine oh this is this is tight this is very tight I’m going to go just a normal through or hybrid here tightly course eh it is you got to kind of thread the needle but this is this is like a hybrid off the te stay there stay there you that was good here we go good shot in the Fairway you got to be smart around this golf course it’s very tight and strategic it’s not just you don’t bomb drive over here a little left on the left side should be okay probably water so you’re going 200 mph I can’t even imagine that what’s have you ever had moments I mean your reaction time has to be really quick like you got to be like do you practice doing reaction like reactionary stuff that I am a strong believer that it’s practiced during the racing you need to think I’ve been racing since I’m 5 years old Gokarts gotcha so those reactions it’s just when you have shots that are pure F you know you just need to feel it and our reactions are filling and improvisation based on the moment but there’s moments especially when it rains we have very very low visibility because the car in front produces this spray cin of water that you cannot see and we’re doing 200 mph flood out the only see we thing is a little flashing red light on the car in front and sometimes not even that and you’re just flat out on the street and always that that would give me that now that is crazy that is where all drivers we go like this is not safe I mean even driving on the highway going 70 when it’s raining really hard you can’t see imagine that instead of 7200 I mean a for one car for 1 hour and a half nine iron here 154 yeah I like that full swing out cuz it’s I like when you go after it oh yeah the right side Nice Nice Shot sa 137 going with a pitching wedge than it good look good look for birdie car is going to have to get up and down for a par it’s kind of heating up with the wedges right a little bit I got to make one of these these these holes are not very friendly this is brutal no I mean I I’m careering these rolls I mean this thing’s like hugging the ground nice the last three holes we we have burnt every cup out here the last three holes Carlos burned both edges and I just burned that one Carlos gave one shot back there there he’s five under I am even par onto our ninth [Music] hole here we go ninth hole A 222 yd par three you got a four iron as well full oh the wind yeah the wind is helping that that’s the one thing going for us that’s going to be a little long and right no I think it’s just a nice one just a good for IR oh man you can actually move that if it’s if it’s affecting your swing here so would be able to drop yeah yeah you can take a drop if interesting seing how to play him off of that muddy light it’s either you catch the ball first or you take a full swing and I chunked it me and Carlos are pretty much even [Music] now take it see what a bit no yeah well I just feel like this course is very condensed cuz we’re right on the ocean here the ocean’s right near us it’s very tight yep good for a player like you if you hit it straight it is good it’s really good for somebody that hits it straight yep right over here four shot lead heading in to the probably my worst goal so far I think try and hit this a little harder get after it nice good shot that hit really well I think that’s going to be short of though oh oh it rolled down bunker that was a good swing H that far you should have been aiming way to the right you hit that feed up and you see the water on the right oh I know the hands go a bit in the last moment in your brain you just on your tried to draw the heck out of that go that was a little bit spinny high and right but it worked out par five I’m going after this in two shots I know Carlos is going to have to lay up but I think he’s he’s starting to feel his swing a little more on this back nine oh that was your best Drive of the day you I bet that carry I mean that was a big carry to the top of that bunker probably carried that like 280 not bad not bad more of those please did you swing a little harder at it did you feel that speed cuz I just I think for me I need to think about I need two swing thoughts one is give it a bit of time at the top to drop right if I have that thought manage to that I I swing it well right but then once I manage to do that swing it hard if not I start yeah yeah starts hitting right and left right and left is what happened at the beginning right you don’t have the confidence to hit it hard right yeah at least it came down but yeah I mean yeah no that’s good it’s still a layup I mean it’s too I mean I could go for it but it’s impossible no yeah that’s going to and a birdie that keeps Carlos at three under total and that drops me back to even par so even par to three under he has a three shot lead after 10 [Music] holes I don’t know who was the best match you played with the one that you got more nervous or oh the most nervous the most nervous I’ve been I had a really good match against Rick Shields I so that one yeah he beat me in the end I was pretty nervous there it got really intense man there’s a couple I got to think about that what is this par 4 it’s a long one 4 437 yeah oh my God far four here we go should be just down the right side there is it is it true have you just missed the Fairway I might have missed that one but I think I think it could have carried across everything there’s a chance it’s still in it’s still actually in the Fairway same thing no yep same thing wow that was your best one of the day on one of the hardest holes I love that that was that’s why I will play golf tomorrow that was a good one yeah you come back chipped in three times it’s I I think it’s one of the most viewed golf videos on the internet has like 8 million views right now maybe I need do what yeah it was the most nervous I’ve ever been it was that is 3/10 5/10 for example from a Red Bull to a Midfield car it’s nearly 1 second so it’s just no chance you know for some drivers to to win so yeah the machine counts a lot know that it was that I like these greens break a ton this is a good chance to narrow the lead of Carlos oh my God I thought I was see that’s CRA it went right off the hill I think this is going to fall a lot left right left
