we’ll have JC and Mike Morgan lot to talk about today um well heck uh first of all I want to uh give a our thoughts and prayers go out to the Norman Carlson Family Mr C as we all knew him uh was in charge of sports information for many many years probably the most knowledgeable guy Gator Athletics passed away Friday um he will I think he was 90 years old uh had a lot to do with Coach spurry winning the Heisman Trophy he told some great stories about that but uh just a great great gentleman to work with and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family uh for Mr C that’s what we called time over there covering the Gators and over at the beach as well and in 1971 he took me out of the spring game as a six-year-old kid and took my picture down on the field and put it on the program for the first game of the of the ensuing season and always was the most kind and gentle fella with so many cool stories uh while I was working on television and radio here in Gainesville and so I’m certainly sad to hear about that his passing but a great life lived and um you know 90 years for you know good for him and that’s uh that’s quite aive so yes we uh we want to think about Norm Carlson but um you know uh it’s it was a good weekend for his school and for the Gators uh softball wins its six SEC Championship and though I know they’ve got higher mountains to climb and bigger goals to to accomplish this year that is a a great accomplishment and with Keegan Rothrock throwing the ball the way she is pitching it in the circle six strikeouts six hits allowed you got a chance that’s the way I I I’ll just leave it at that you got well I I’ll start with softball um could be Tim Walton’s best uh coaching job of his career they they don’t have one pitcher from last year’s roster JC yeah obviously it’s two it’s two true freshman that they went with crazy uh you had last year’s SEC Player of the Year who came in second and National player of the year I believe and schyler Wallace okay this year you have the SEC Player of the Year Joselyn Erics in a transfer from Oklahoma uh you know who came in second in the voting for SEC Player of the Year Corby Otis who plays Left Field who’s a transfer from Louisville but what’s amazing is their first five in their lineup falby Wallace orbis orb uh Corby Otis uh J Erikson and rean Walsh the first five batters all made first team all sec I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that um and then you got the Freshman of the year the pitcher uh Keegan Roth Roth so uh look I think it’s one of his best hitting teams he’s ever had I think they can make a Deep Run I really do they will be hosting first game Friday I believe we play FAU or maybe it’s far to so anyway the teams that’ll be here the gator hosting FAU South Alabama Florida Gulf Coast yeah um I’m not sure who were matched up what is their National seat QB four so yeah that so that’s good that’s good that your team your team’s National seat is 16 or 13 or 16 by the way well that the top eight is what matters right and so well as far as far as hosting and so Florida the road to Oklahoma City for the Gators goes through Gainesville and that’s always Vantage and that you know again we’ve counted the on both hands how many times he’s brought a team to Oklahoma City and uh it we can’t count on both hands I no I mean we have counted on both hands and there’s more we need because they just keep going and going and he’s uh you know he is as we have said before along with Holloway and a couple others the you know the most successful winning percentage as a coach of a program on this campus ever so uh it’s you know it’s very uh Dynasty like and so if they can key together a a College World Series Championship to go with something like this in the next two or three years or maybe even this year hooray I mean just get just get to OKC that’s all I care about I know that here’s the thing all 13 teams all 13 teams in the SEC made the tournament yeah and then you count the the two teams coming in next year they’re the number one one and number two overall season soft is a freaking bear in our conference this is the league right I think the Pack 12 has been erased and those schools out west lose players to the southeast now that’s just the way it is and the Midwest that’s just the way it is so should be a fun weekend baseball loses some Heartbreakers man just the way the year’s gone I really the more you watch the baseball team it just you watch and you see how they you know bad breaks or just the way they lose games it reminds me so much of the football season yeah it does bottom line is they go to Georgia Thursday Friday Saturday series you have to win two or you’re done the season’s over yeah unless you win the SEC tournament right right well that’s yeah I mean that’s if they win two out of three in Georgia where they will make the tournament if they win two out of three that will give them a five 00 or better record which you have to have to make the NCA tournament so what if they lose two out of three at Georgia they’re done no no SEC or nothing oh I think they go to the SEC but I don’t think it’s G to matter so we’ll have people let us know but I just know I thought why doesn’t it matter if it doesn’t matter why would they even go it has to matter well it has something to do with your regular season record okay okay I believe uh Dan says the Raging cun if they win their Regional would be coming to Gainesville so okay I want to give a shout out I want to give a shout out to probably the one of the maybe the most decorated female athlete we’ve ever had at the University of Florida uh her name is Parker Valby she’s finally a senior she came in this I think the same Year my son did they’re good friends uh but Parker continues to destroy record after record in her event she’s a longdistance girl uh cross country girl but it is quite amazing what she does every time she walks on the track so shout out to her and you know track track is doing very well uh let’s see Cameron says on YouTube brought to you by quality Plum does this mean that softball’s Elite now well it’s been Elite Cameron I know you’re taking a jab at buddy buddy never thought we were Elite n says women’s lacrosse is going to El leite eight yeah the lacrosse team upset the seven seed uh at Virginia the lady Cavaliers go down lady Gators are one game away from the final four in Lacrosse how about that JC Alabama doing they don’t do the lacrosse dude that that that’s just not I mean I’m happy for the G great they’re gonna play some team from the ACC I’m pretty sure final four that’s good man that you know they should be good at lacrosse Jeremy started that program he got the right coach there they built a nice place gave them three acres of grass and said Swing Away girls and that’s where they should have put the football facility out there yeah well they didn’t they put the girls lacrosse team there only thing about lacrosse that that you know the difference between the men and the women I think is that you can’t have contact in the women’s sport but um I don’t know actually maybe I think I’m sh my un non-n knowledge of this SP I think it’s actually the Big 10 that’s really good in Lacrosse it’s either the 10 or the AC probably the Big 10 in women’s lacrosse and the ACC in men’s I think that’s right well be Virginia Virginia was the seven seed so okay yeah beat him take him down all right uh Ben’s question on Facebook live brought to you uh by melden law can we get your thoughts on the cor Corman mlan news that he’s considered joining UF as a preferred walk-on seems like little to no risk approach adding a good player make him earn a scholarship yeah highly highly recruited Kid last year um I believe it was last year out of Lakeland ended up going to play for Dion never played was in the transfer portal nobody signed him so I mean I guess yeah I don’t know if he could help us quite honestly you know he could be one of those guys that sometimes the uh Publishers of these Stars sometimes uh gets it wrong and uh maybe it’s him I don’t know but yeah there’s probably no no issues I mean Billy Billy’s not gonna just hire I mean hire sign somebody just to sign him he’s got to be a good fit for the program uh Joseph says on Facebook live did Shane did you see that Florida’s nil is ranked 19th in the country with a s 7.9 million budget are we too far behind to catch up I don’t know enough about it um I do know that there are players in baseball from my home state that play for the Bulldogs and the rebels they have players making more money and nil money than Jack kagle on wow so well all right we’ll see if that translates to onfield success we don’t know that well I mean right but I I mean the nil thing is just uh it’s crazy uh so I got a text here from Chris and MAA he says Corman played in nine games started four last year okay for Colorado I didn’t but he left oh Dan says next year’s softball class could be better than this one wow number one p pitcher coming in next year too okay well I mean yeah sure why wouldn’t they I mean he’s he’s got it he’s one of the greatest coaches ever to coach softball yeah I mean uh okl Oklahoma can’t have them all right right I mean how many people they got on their Texas is great Oklahoma is great now and then some team out west should be great but it’s the consistency thing and after last year’s disappointing year I’m glad that they turned it around this year because I thought um you know it was a question mark as to how these freshman would perform and it’s obvious that they’ve done their job and Roth rock you know how many you know how many seniors they have in the starting lineup JC I don’t one yeah so I I mean got Wallace now right field you can kind of say that’s that they they kind of platoon right fi sometimes with a senior out there but um well it’s awesome if everybody stays and doesn’t take money to go play somewhere else yeah they’re gonna be very good next year although losing Skylar Wallace who I think is clearly the best softball player to ever play at the University of Florida people can argue with me all you want uh I ain’t gonna buy it I’ve never seen I’ve never seen a hitter like her Serb back concrete builds firm foundations for Generations you stand on it we stand by we got JC on the uh Titan mrr like I said I’m not getting into all the hype about what he did in high school and where he was rated because we got some damn good DBS I’m telling you I love them I like them a lot um JC last I don’t know if you watched any the uh the Avent at quell Hollow I did uh in Charlotte boy oh Roy marroy the Old Roy he started making when he made Eagle then it the floodgates open it was just birdie after birdie after bird and you know he shot 65 and doubled the last hole it’s incredible when he gets on a roll what he’s capable of and it’s been a while since we’ve seen that from him if you look at the scores in this tournament QB there were only two guys in uh underpar double digits everybody else was single digits and the course played hard and it was a twoh horse race on the back nine and then Rory went nuts so if you look at his game and you see how that putter starts finally getting there he could absolutely win the PJ this week and uh we’ll see if he can pull it off but he has been you know kind of snake bit in the majors he’s come close but the old Rory showed up last night on the back nine or yesterday on the back nine without a doubt meanwhile I was at the D Valley course in Jacksonville I don’t know if you ever played the valley course at TPC multiple times very time a lot what a fun course and uh the greens were unbelievable how good they they were and I just felt that was that course gets not nearly as much attention as it should because the M A lot of people a lot of people think that course is better than stadi course yeah that’s right that’s what I’ve heard that’s what a lot of them told me yesterday but uh what a treat it was thanks to my friend Adam PFA for inviting me for his member guest at that tournament it was a tremendous event um and off to Jackson Mississippi this week yep well J you got you gotta play got to play good greens to be prepared for good greens all I can say yeah you ever heard of anandale yeah just a little bit uh shelvin shelvin says on Facebook live brought to you by Mel law UF lacrosse gymnastics and softball players need to walk into the Heavener Center and say to baseball and football hey guys follow our league I hear you shelvin but here’s what I’d like to say to that those three Sports lacrosse gymnastics and softball are are better teams because they have better players again I’ve sat here and I argue with friends of mine on text that when you lose Wyatt Langford you lose Rivera you lose two guys that are pitching in freaking Jos in Triple A you just you just don’t replace them like that you know it’s it’s always amazing to me how uh I’ve said it multiple times on here when Tim TBO leaves who may be the greatest football player of all time people think think you’re just going to plug in another one of him they don’t fall off the freak every tree you know no that’s right so Saturday it’s just like when when Skylar Wallace leaves We’re not gonna have anybody that I’m aware of that’s gonna be the type of player that she is I mean yeah he’s going gonna be the greatest that we’ve ever had um you know when you talk about replacement players Pittsburgh had a guy Paul skem who we all know from the College World Series last year at LSU making his debut guy was easily consistently tapping 101 miles per hour he struck out seven in over four Innings they just had him on a pitch count but he struck out seven in his debut against the Cubs who are pretty good team this year so it’s hard to replace that and look at where LSU is right now yeah LSU is worse alten than the Gators right so when they lose a guy like skin and others that were part of that championship team it’s it’s going to take a year or two get get back up to that level if you would do it all I mean Paul skes to me was probably the best picture I’ve ever seen in college B series I no but he’s unhitable so I I mean that’s that’s just the way it is and uh you know they’ll be back they’re a great program in Florida will’ll be too so is Florida so um it’s just one of those down years you just have to Rack it up and uh move on man yeah 31m says on YouTube brought to you by quality Plum I’m excited about the PGA Championship three major winners coming in Fresh Off wins in their last tournament Scotty Brooks and Rory he says the valley stinks I don’t I think it’s a good golf I don’t know why the valley would stink I I had a hell of a good time I thought it was excellent I think I think I only lost four balls but the guys playing with lost 12 in the water so uh it was a good course man it does not stink I’ll just put it to you that way if it stunk it would be part of that club and they wouldn’t be charging what they charge that’s for sure because there’s a lot of damn people that want to play it this dance Sports brought you well most people have to they have to go play it because they they can’t afford the other one and the other one’s always uh under construction uh this day in sports brought to you by at TPC so on this day in 2007 mikkelson wins by Two Strokes of head a runner Sergio Garcia yeah and um that was the first time it was played in May got we got the PGA this weekend at Valhalla yeah the rise is burning out over there and I part of it I just think they wanted to move the PGA up from August to May so they had to move the TPC back to March and that’s why the tour did that I liked the PGA and August to be honest with you but um that’s when they start talking about the Tour Championship tournaments and so forth but for me golf ends after the last major and I start thinking about football QV I don’t really care about the mondy drive on the Tour Championship thing it I don’t get excited about that yeah but it’s gonna be exciting at Valhalla this weekend oh yeah for the for the second major of the year valhall is a I uh I played it twice when I was with the Bengals Carson Palmer and I went because it’s only like an hour from Cincinnati yeah hour and a half maybe two hours I can’t remember but uh very good golf course no Lou Louisville Kentucky yeah hope hopefully they make it hard that’s what I want to see I want to see hard I gotta believe they will well this thing yesterday was hard in Charlotte Just Roy exploded and Xander schafle played great again he’s just the great he’s the best bridesma on tour but uh you know um the rest of these guys really struggled on that course well I mean they were they were you know mid single digit underpar type scores uh that there was another PGA Tour event though if anybody was uh following this uh the they had a tournament in Myrtle Beach and we had a firsttime winner at a tournament in Myrtle Beach the Myrtle Beach Classic which is a PGA Tour event Chris gup won Oklahoma I think he’s an Oklahoma kid Chris scup Final Round 4 under 67 he won the Myrtle Beach Classic which is a Tour event gives you a two-year exemption get you into the uh uh the thing in Hawaii at the beginning of the year gets you into a US Open gets you into a lot of things so good for Chris you know that changes his life and there they had plenty of good golfers at that tournament as well they’re all good golfers they’re on the PJ tour but there were some names there were some names you know Hadley was out there um you had olison you had a lot of good players obviously and um I you know Berger was playing in that Streelman played in that so Troy Merritt played in that yeah because the other one was one of those uh what do they call it um Signature Events so only certain people could play corre qua Hollow speaking of golf uh the boys uh the men’s golf team Gator golf team starts their uh opportunity to go and as repeat Champs today up in West Lafayette in the regional I think the top three teams will move on and they teed off at 8 AM um you can follow it on Twitter usually the scoring so good luck to JC Deacon and his team they’re playing that it up at Purdue right yeah West well some course at West layette which I would assume is the Purdue course okay yeah wow Indiana all right which um they also lost a lot of great players but here they are right I mean well I mean we’ll see I mean they they lost some really good really good players off their team they weren’t they didn’t expect to have a great year they had they’ve had a great year this year uh a lot of people don’t understand that but they’ve won multiple tournaments yeah now it’s got to move on and uh to the yeah try to defend your title that’s right but they the individual Champion Beyond and you know they they just keep playing Crest all of them text here from George George says JC why don’t you tell us what you shot over the weekend well on the first on the practice round I I did well I shot 82 on the first round I shot 86 and on the third round yeah on the third round I shot like 85 so it was hard because I had trouble two putting most of the greens how far did y’all play it JC uh I was the blue white Blended te so that was 62 something 60 almost 63 and uh and but look those greens man I you know I just it just took a while to really get the get the hang of them but I had a lot of three putts I will say that a lot of three puts otherwise my score I struck the ball very well but I just didn’t putt well so that’s the way it goes sometimes and I’m going to be playing fast greens again this weekend up in that’s why that’s why if you play the Bostic Golf Course It prepares you because you will not find better Greens in that place that those greens are almost too fast I mean gez I think those greens of bosk are faster than the ones I just got done playing there’s no question JC tells us they yeah every place they’ve played this year that bosk has the best greens and I don’t know how we do because those greens when I was in school were God awful well now Golf Course is pristine maybe maybe the 25 million we get from the SEC network or whatever it is they’re putting it into our greens because uh well I don’t how that tell tell me how Scott Hampton always tells me that they’re losing half a million dollars a year at that Golf Course well I is there any golf course that makes money well the one I was just at I didn’t look like it was losing anything but um maybe you’re right yeah um so big uh big things yesterday also um how about those Denver Nuggets nobody’s talking about they are defending champions in the NBA and just went to Minneapolis and thumped the Wolves uh the Pacers are right back in I think the Knicks are breaking down I I worry about the Knicks I think they’re running they’re wearing out essentially and then in hockey uh those Florida Panthers those damn Panthers boy they just stuck it to the Bruins twice they’re going to finish that series off probably tomorrow night and you’ve got the Rangers trying to close out tonight and the Dallas Stars playing at Colorado against the ABS have a 2-1 lead against the explosive Colorado Avalanche and then Vancouver beats Edmonton last night so a lot of those things I keep up with I watch that stuff because it’s playoff time and it’s the best you get and um yeah I’m got to send this text here I mean this email okay you do your email yeah I had to send it to Mike my there Big Mike what’s Big Mike got going he just needs his email uh all right so um 31 Ember says Saw Grass plays better in May but it sucks to go there because it’s hot well here I had a I had a great conversation the other day with these people everybody like when they when I tell them hey you know they say what’ you do this weekend well I went and play golf well isn’t it too hot Listen People Too Hot look I don’t care if it’s 125 degrees with humidity of 90 I can you can play golf you have a cart that has a roof you can there trees that you can hang out under I I don’t care how hot it is that will never run me off a golf course it’s too hot well listen you live in Florida it’s always gonna be hot this time of year um you can just stay inside and run your AC or you can go play golf it’s hot in Georgia Tennessee Alabama Mississippi Oklahoma Texas it’s pretty out there um but you know I guess the humidity can really work on you if it rains a lot but we’ve been very fortunate here in the last six weeks we haven’t had a lot of rain so um I I don’t know I you know I’d rather be outside sweating than and playing golf than not doing it so I think you’re in the same boat yes all right before we get you out of here there’s a text from William he says I heard a podcast or something like that that Cole cubic has he said don’t overlook the Gators this year what are your thoughts oh okay uh I’ve heard people talk about that I’ve not seen it or heard it myself um again on paper the schedule looks difficult but it seems like the schedule’s difficult almost every year we play in the SEC um I firmly believe the most important game in Florida football history in the last 10 15 years is when Miami rolls in here game one oh yeah you have to win that game oh yeah uh I think I I firmly think they can start the year five and0 and I don’t think that’s crazy to think that because I I mean A&M I think elco’s a good coach but you know new coach you don’t know they got new coordinators you got a lot of new players they’re coming to our ballpark um I don’t know you just gota you got to start the season embrace it go play it just comes down to to me since they have a proven commodity at at quarterback proven player I should say he’s not a commodity he’s a good player and they have a lot of running backs and receivers if the offensive line holds up and the defense just keeps people from scoring a lot you know that I mean that’s key there’s really nothing more to it than that it’s just like you know you can’t have Miami come running around with track stars out there on the field and Ward just picking off guys left and right wide open and in space and so hopefully you’re right that Miami game is the biggest game theyve played the last 10 15 years because because they they must they must change The Narrative of Florida football that on that day absolutely 1% all right JC we gotta get out of here we gotta get Mike say hi to hey a little bit uh come closing in on the the final uh series of the year we go to Georgia for Thursday Friday Saturday um if I’m not mistaken we have to win two out of three to even be eligible for postseason um I was talking to JC because I could have sworn I heard Kevin o Solan say it in his presser yesterday that if we don’t win two it’s over doesn’t matter what you do in the SEC tournament I take it uh well the rule used to be what 500 in regular season players that count your SEC Play I Like The the postseason SEC tournament will that be factored in to get you at the 500 or better gosh it should uh I’m not I’m not 100% on that so I don’t want to I don’t want to say the wrong thing but it certainly should I mean those games matter I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t count so I mean like if you finished a game under 500 and then you went on a run you went on a heater in Hoover and went three and one I can’t imagine that wouldn’t put you over the hump but I but I’m not entirely sure I mean honestly I think I’m like most Gator fans I’m surprised that it’s come to that and you know me I I think the the discussion on Kevin o solven kind of a referendum on his ability is ridiculous the guy’s been to Omaha like eight times he brought the school its only National Title uh recruiting is still Elite at Florida but they lost a lot of key players and you know I mean I feel like I I keep repeating myself on this but like I’ve seen this happen so many time you’re watching it in LSU right now think LSU doesn’t care you think their coach all of a sudden became an idiot like this just happens um I realized there were three straight years where Florida didn’t get out of the regional rounds and and therefore the fan base uh started to get a little bit antsy because you get spoiled you you get spoiled much like Florida fans got spoiled for football for a whole lot of time got spoiled with basketball with Billy Donovan it’s hard to keep that up but I I think the whole notion that like all of a sudden the program is slipping I I I think that’s Insanity I I don’t see that at all I do think the rest of the league has caught up with the floridas of the world I think the SEC has never been deeper everybody always talks about how good it is we know it’s good like you that’s like third grade analysis but it’s never been this deep programs that were traditionally not good are now all of a sudden really good whether it’s Kentucky or Tennessee Etc so um look whether or not Florida makes it honestly uh just to prove that I’m not giving you a uh Sunshine pump or take I don’t think Florida has what it takes to go deep into the tournament it’d be great to get in but honestly you kind of are what you are at this point I know everybody talks about well you get you get hot and you get a hot pitcher and you get I don’t think Florida’s equipped to have a deep run but you’d certainly like to get there if you can yeah I I agree with all of that you know what’s what’s interesting is as you mentioned the the other teams in the league you know gotten better in football as well but I don’t has Kentucky I can’t remember Kentucky ever went in the SEC regular season in baseball and they have a very good chance of doing that they tied for it don’t ask me how I remember this um it just comes from 20 plus years of calling games and covering this league but 2006 they were co- Champs with Alabama I remember that uh and that was that was when John Cohen was the coach and of course John Cohen now is the ad at Auburn uh talk about coming full circle but uh you’re right to to point out that Kentucky is the only program in the SEC and this will maintain truth even when Oklahoma and Texas are added the only program in the SEC it’s never been to Omaha there’s your little water cooler fact of the day and for years and years I mean you’d go out to Lexington and I would and call a series and they clearly didn’t have the facilities they didn’t have the the the the dedicate they weren’t all in well now they got a beautiful ballpark I mean ky’s ballpark is sneaky not good but great uh Nick Mone is a terrific coach and he is he has kind of cracked the code on how you can win at Kentucky you don’t have the the benefits of the recruiting base like a Florida or Georgia uh but but he’s doing an outstanding job there for my I guess we lost mik there let me text him gonna comment first and I’m G let you comment okay you go for um I understand the fans uh issues with the hires or what have you but we’re talking about Urban Meyer and Billy Donovan Hall of Fame coaches that have won multiple national championships those guys just aren’t walking around the United States of America right right no I I mean look and what was the listener’s name I forgot I forgot his name Baron Baron Baron Baron love you and and don’t misconstrue it now I I I’m not saying that Florida fans uh don’t have a right to have expectations Florida is a program that should be good at the big three Sports there’s so much going for it I know it because I lived it uh I I I understand the immense amount of resources fertile recruiting ground history fan support everything that being said Shane you you nailed it right on the head you can be the most elite of the elite and all those things and still not you know hire one Hall of Famer after another Hall of Famer after another Hall of Famer it it’s not it’s not realistic to expect that to happen Billy Donovan did things that were I mean to me that’s still the most impressive thing of all because Florida should be good at football like you know I mean Florida should be and there’s no question to his point there have been bad hires uh with the football program I think that’s unmistakably true but what Billy Donovan did with Florida basketball uh is something that you want to talk about getting the most out of the resources that you have that is phenomenal and to expect somebody else to go in there and just poof rattle off four final fours and two natties and how many SEC championships and you know you might be you might be expecting that but you might be expecting that for a long time football-wise I don’t know how it went from Urban to where you’re struggling to go six and six I understand Florida fans frustration with that I get it I will say this it’s not unprecedented I mean I I’ve seen what’s happened to Florida State before last year and the and the train wreck of a program that was after Bobby Bowen for for much of the time Jimbo obviously had his Peak with jamus Winston but take a look at Jimbo’s record without those two years of jamus and take a look at what has happened in Tallahassee for the most part since Bobby bal’s retirement Miami has been a dumpster fire like there look at Nebraska football will they ever be relevant again just because you make it to the top is no long-term guarantee you’re going to stay there we see that with programs time and time again yeah I agreed um Mike I want to get your thoughts I don’t know if you heard the news or not maybe you did maybe you didn’t uh Friday night uh Norman Carlson longtime Gator historian that worked up at sports information Department passed away at age of age 90 I don’t know if you had any run-ins while you you were here Norm I I I did I mean I didn’t know him well but when I covered practice as a student I mean it was not uncommon to just see Norm out there uh and and I learned quickly you know the the legend that was him in every University again in all my travels and and visiting every SEC program for dozens and dozens of times they all have a norm Carlson and and and those are such iconic figures that mean so much to program it’s very rare for anybody uh from from a a an administrator to an announcer to stay at a particular school for that long anymore there’s just so much turnover we’re not we’re not seeing the guys that hang around for 30 40 50 years so uh thoughts and prayers I did not hear that news Shane but I’m certainly familiar with Mr Carlson and and his legacy yeah he was a one of the best if not the best around um Switching gears a little bit I know you follow the NBA uh the Nuggets uh look terrible at home against the Timberwolves and they go to Minnesota and and take care of business there just your thoughts on what you’ve seen in the NBA Playoffs well we lost Mike to come here as much as an Administration goes after a so as you like to call them a qualified guy maybe that qualified guy does not want to be the coach at the University of Florida uh Michael says the administration of schools often miss on coaches that is so true and make hires that look questionable but you guys are correct great coaches are to come by yeah I mean we’re not the only ones I mean Alabama the great program that Alabama is think about it after barar Bryant died they had Ray Perkins I believe they had uh Jean Stallings they got rid of they had Mike schula they had Mike dubos they had Dennis franchon those guys didn’t pan out and then bam they hit the jackpot with saving does kayin dbor work out I don’t know if he does or not um I doubt he does what Nick Savin did because Nick Savin is one of those guys like the urban Myers Steve spur these are the the small small percentage of guys that that get it done at a high high level year in a year out vent says Bama had seven head coaches in between the bear and Nick sa for 23 years yeah appreciate you letting us know this the stats on that um Andrew says nap Napier is a good coach but the cabinet was empty let’s see what he can do with a good roster agree with that I I said it for the last four or five years it was one of the worst Southeast Eastern Conference Ro uh rosters i’ had ever seen and people can say you know you got to develop them as a coach I’m a coach’s son I’ve coached myself I understand how the game works you can only develop players so much sometimes they reach their potential but the bottom line is the National Football League has the best players in the world if you have no guys going to play there there’s a problem or not even getting a chance I should say so um we’ll try to get Mike back game from Auburn and yeah no Kerwin was was gone uh kerwin’s one of my closest friends though because in 1990 he was a graduate assistant under coach sper so he was in the quarterback meeting rooms and uh we uh we were very very close I talked to kwin probably once a week he and I used to have a quarterback camp together as well but uh one of the best football Minds I’ve ever been around and um doing a tremendous job up at Western Carolina uh his defensive coordinator now is Jerry odm former teammate of mine Gator linebacker who outstanding football coach as well um let’s see Mike uh Mike’s got some issues going on so we’ll just uh we’ll deal with it I’ll answer some of these text messages and we’ll close it out uh this is from Jack he says Shane are you going to get all over buddy Martin tomorrow about your softball team being Elite uh I’m not I’ll let you guys jump all over buddy um I don’t know what buddy was even seeing or watching or even if he watched this softball team back midseason you could tell right away it was extremely talented and I mean they were never struggling they may have had it one series I think they lost the Series mid year at Missouri now Missouri is a number seven overall seed so it’s not like they lost to a bad team but they just didn’t play good softball out there and um but yeah like I said I Tim Walton’s a very good friend of mine um I love the game of softball because it’s fast moving and it’s just cool watching these girls play but I really think think this is one of his best teams he’s had I think offensively they’re as good as they’ve ever had um David wants to know why can’t Kerwin get a big-time job uh Kerwin Kerwin has always run his own programs he’s always been his own boss except for one year and it was a disaster he will never work for anybody else um look there’s a lot of good coaches like Kerwin at the at the smaller levels that don’t get the opportunity for whatever reason but um um yeah kwin built the program at Trinity Catholic got the head job at ju built that program won a championship went to Vasa state was the head man won a national title and left there for one year to go be Charlie Strong’s coordinator at South Florida he said it was the biggest mistake of his coaching career um he was fortunate to get another opportunity Western Carolina and in two or three years I think this is going to be year three uh he feels like he’s got a pretty good team however his son Cade who was the quarterback coach and kind of offensive coordinator was hired at Pittsburgh last this this past spring uh by Pat Nardi took a lot of his assistance and a lot of his good players to pit so be uh interesting to watch the pit Panthers this year um as well uh Dan says you have swept A&M 40 no sweeps last year at all really great turnaround yeah it’s it they had a look he’s got some good players I mean he went to the transfer portal got two girls that uh one was the player of the year the other was the number two girl up for player of the year and then he had last year’s Player of the Year come back so um very very talented no question about it uh vaner says on YouTube brought to you by quality Plum they’re not a very good player I mean the best players in the world have bad games but I from a coaching standpoint I think sometimes expectations are unrealistic at certain places and that may steer coaches from taking steer steer them away from taking that job um but that’s pretty good comment there uh tomorrow we’ll have buddy Martin and uh y’all y’all got y’ y’all either give it to Buddy really hard tomorrow or be light on him about Gator softball but I’m sure Buddy’s going to say they have to go win a national title for them to be elite uh just get to OKC for the 12th time in 18 years or something like that or 20 years that’ be great and um Chris says how many times have you golfed with JC and how bad do you beat him with playing uh I play with him a lot not not as much as not that he plays at a different Golf Course um that’s nowhere near as difficult as the university um our group um it’s got a lot of former College golfers in it and JC Deacon the golf coach plays in
