e e e e e all right welcome back to Broad beach balls club for district sides men’s division 1 and we’ve got a good game here between go Coast Tweed District and the Downs District that’s the last I’m really looking forward to this game H between the goal coast and downs it’s going to should be an absolute cracker H do we have the teams Paulie we do have the teams so today we’re going to be I’ll let you introduce the teams there you go so on a on the top right hand side we’ve got the live stream match between Dale and de when Shellington and Gavin Branford and the other three games on up we have got Scotty Chamberlain at two Gary Pearson three and Dale MW Shillington is Skip um for the downs we have and we are leading Andrew ragley two Gary gray three and Gavin Bradford skip is that right yep yep all right so game started and we see Downs leading off what a great ball and I’m going to pass the commentary off now Alan Law’s joining so he was just running a touch late I did again cuz we’re wasn’t switched on good afternoon good afternoon Wilson and viewers hope you’ve been enjoying uh well certainly the last game we all enjoyed watching the first live and that’s your on fault for not being here and uh we’ve already apologized for uh the little mishaps there and uh glitches in the system and uh Wilson’s already mentioned who’s playing but I’ll just give you a bit of a extra run down there with uh Scotty Franklin leading up for the goal Coast um X New South TW boy um Queensland and Australian over 60s uh player um I think he actually skipped the last uh Australian sides uh he’s playing with the pink balls which are srvs Taylor of course for and he comes out of the uh the Burley bows club uh opposition leader is Alan we he comes out of Dron he’s playing with the blue and yellow and in uh second for the goal Coast we’ve got Scotty Chamberlin former Tasmanian probably current Tasmanian but lives on on the go Coast he plays out of b beach and he’s playing with Sr size three and he’s got the orange balls uh V against Andrew ragus from the north Toba Club he’s playing with the blue Premier size three we’ve got Gary uh Bondi Pearson from Burley coming in in with the Optima size three blue who ended up winning the uh drawing the winning shot for the goal Coast last year against the Gateway and what was the uh the decider up on the Sunshine Coast and he’s playing against another Gary Gary gray Gary’s uh playing with a size four Maron in color red lines and Gary’s from the north to club and the battle of the skips we’ve got Dale mwy Shillington out of out of Bly as we probably know he’s the B coordinator down there and he’s playing with the Optima size 4 rainbow color and up against the seasoned Gavin Bradford Gavin started coming for the uh for the district way back in 1987 he is a bit of a fossil and he’ll get me for that later he out of the Dron club and he is playing with a red Conquest size four a couple of debutant for the uh for the Tober side or the downside should I say uh Josh kahar I think he’s in his mid 20s 25 and Doug McGuire all they would tell me he was a he’s a late bloomer that probably means he’s as old as me all right so how’s it been going Wilson yeah been going really really well that last game between the the the ladies was absolutely phenomenal excellent exp Exposition in bows so yeah really looking forward to this game h two good sides uh and we’ll see how goal coast and the Downs finish up later on today I think we’re in for a good game yes have what I’ve seen so far in this end the first end it looks really really good and uh the weather God’s going to be good to us you think well it couldn’t get any worse in this morning but the the last the last game we we managed a game without any rain so the sun’s try to poke head out of the minute so hopefully we can keep dry and finish off the The District sides with every stay dry it’s amazing the weather psychics they they give us 90% rain thank God they’re wrong again yeah well it’s supposed to be the wetest day of the week today and the sun’s cracking the flag Stones yeah that’s right and it’s not that windy out there nice little breeze but it’s not too bad it’s quite cool now yeah yeah this athlete running up the green here yeah so D is last one for for this end last B of the end and Scotty Franklin’s got the mat so I take it here Wilson we might try and find out a little bit about uh you and where you uh where you snuck up from and we know it was in Scotland of course for those who are death what part of Scotland you from now H West Coast little town called air yeah yep is air in airshire yes excellent I’ve been there y so on the west coast the home of Robert buns Robbie yes hey and you’ve been in Australia nearly 18 years now 18 years I can see you’ve lost a bit of your accent some of it and what do your mate say when you go back oh this see how I say Posh talk talk properly yeah well I’m from the north of England and they usually say to me talk proper yeah yeah they they say the last time I someone home two years ago and he says oh you talk funny I’ve got to change my accent when I’m to be understood I always use that one it’s in the job man so I’ve got to do it all right been here 18 nearly 18 years lovely Place lovely so much to do the weather well recently the weather’s not been the best but the weather’s been pretty good up to up to now uh so yeah loving it kids love it grandkids love it yeah and you can see you’re spending the rest of your life here oh I’m not going home M no I’m staying here yeah well I’ve been here 50 years now and I don’t think I’m uh well I am I’m going back in uh July all right and uh bit of August so that’ll be family catch up for the last time mess is Hannah she’s just she’s just back she was uh she went over for 50th for three and a half weeks four weeks and spend it she went to on a trip with gr Canario with the girls so from a bra M so it’s good to catch up she’s home it’s always nice to go back but it’s always better to come back she was glad to get back to Australia yeah it was just a little bit cold and uh a bit later on in the uh the live stream I’ll catch up with a bit of your uh your soccer dies youve still got your two legs and that’s a good start [Laughter] just what B got it there was my glass thanks what so we’ve got Jackie win on shouting on De for the win so they’re playing off the decider they’re playing off the deci now each other yep and both won two games yep okay I think I’ve got this right and I’ll be uh I’ll be belted around the ears if I’ve got it wrong but the ladies District sides uh contenders for division one is go Coast Tweed blue who were on Four Points with a uh a percentage of one or proportion of 1.58 eight wow here we go and Counting them ladies they’re on Four Points uh 1.56 oh so it’s virtually down to who wins the game and I uh well it is it’s just the game the percentage won’t come into it there yeah margin 47s yeah whoever wins it do you want to go on that one sure so in division one ER go Coast was Sting Four Points theyve got men’s yeah yeah the men’s so the goal Coast H they’re leading away at the minute with four points they’ve got 181 shots for against 91 we’re margining 90 so Downs are in second place with two points with 122 for 131 against so minus 9 and then you’ve got North Queensland H with two points H 4 116 against 160 minus 44 and then we’ve got Gateway H at the bottom anyone haven’t won any games so far so we’ve got6 443 minus 37 so at this stage the goal Co just need to keep tracking the way they’re tracking H and keep it tight and they should get across the line Alan Anything Could Happen yep you know this is a great matchup it really is this is awesome um Downs I look I haven’t got the records in front of me but if my memory serves me right it was back in early 2000 when they uh they triumphed and we all know well we don’t we don’t all know but uh the go Coast have uh been pretty dominant the last 10 years so Downs District was 1998 I think they W it after yeah 2001 that was uh it beat in the go Coast okay all right bit of history there actually in between drinks here I I just want to make a special mention to uh to this gentleman his name is Jack Oliver he comes out of the Gateway district and uh Jack’s attender 91 years old and ever since I’ve been coming to the district size which feels like forever Jack’s been here and he’s probably been here twice as long as I’ve been coming and he’s uh still president over there at Gateway um he’s actually been Vice chair on Ball’s Queensland and only through uh an ailment in the family he had to pull away from those duties but he’s certainly done just about everything else in the game he’s a spritely 91 and he’s always got a smile on his face uh he was a Founder member of the Maroa club which was first well it was founded in the mid 665 fish to the best of his memory and I believe him because I’m pretty sure he’s as sharp as attack uh and he spent after that 38 years at Green schops as president um and he’s now at Mount graat he’s been there for three years and that’s more because he bought the highrise across the street he actually didn’t he bought uh he bought an apartment across the street and uh I think he’ll be coming back here for a few more years yet so special mention Jack and thanks for everything you’ve done been selector chairman of selectors Here There and Everywhere including Queensland so uh yeah thank you for your service to uh to the balls and it was no then but oh it’s going to be now yeah I’ve enjoy I genely enjoyed it I have it’s really interesting I figured you would cuz once you get a bite of this game once you put your first couple down yeah you’re hooked yeah I thing I’m worried about is my wife’s really competitive you know so all right so you think you’ll be playing mixed Pairs and she’ll be skipping well to start with socially and U might have to move it move it as side I think many a marriage been broken up game of balls all right um okay so do you want to uh you want to tell us a little bit about um ascf well I’m I’m from the investment side um uh one of the investment managers and uh we got the three funds uh Target rates up to 7.75% we do it in various ways got the three funds which covers different risk factors and different types of uh uh product but we also have uh different terms 3 6 12 and 24 months M um and we can chop that up depending on what the clients want um some clients have multiple accounts and uh cuz they may need the funds more readily available say every 3 months uh and others invest for longer term so um okay so with your investment you can actually um when we were chatting the other day you can get your uh your your interest paid back to you monthly yeah it’s paid monthly yeah it is automatically that yeah automatically but you could roll that over as well could you uh no we we got to um we can’t vote back in that’s not the way we’re allowed to do it under AIC rules regulations so that’s going to make people feel more secure once they get to is $5,000 so once we get a 5,000 they can put another set another account up so and go again so okay so minimum of five but a maximum of whatever whatever they want coup of Bill yeah Palmer out there all right um so yeah so um we we’re trying to be flexible so that it suits uh different clients different ways we have multiple different types of clients from investors to retirees just want to top up top up their Ms and dads it can be a self-managed super fund can be a trust can be a company okay or individuals so we we really try and diversify the setup to suit the clients uh and we can do that for them so all right and uh you well I know you’ve got packs around the various venues because I’ve already got one yeah and we we’ve been studying it as well um all right well everybody knows we’re here at uh at Broad Beach but uh you believe in some of those that stuff around the place I think they were until yesterday uh we we’ come in here because the the finals are here today okay um just Joe and I working today right uh as you know you saw him earlier um so yeah we’re just really here because we haven’t done broad Beach all week um sort of Staff obviously we got to leave some staff in the office to do the job sure uh so uh there just been about four or five us out and about the different clubs uh but just just met myself in Joe today but look it’s easy to find us U 13 invest or ascf on Google um so anybody wants a chat or a little bit information feel free to give me a call next week and or whenever they’re ready and just Googling ascf you’ll come up first yep we we come up first excellent y i urge you to do that uh folks out there um I think you might be surprised uh and you know I’m not just saying this and I said it the other day my wife and myself were looking at that uh as we speak uh just have a look at it y I think it’s a good opportunity you know the different Investments suit different people we understand that um but my job is to give you the information so you can make an informed decision um it’s not a sales process we just we’re there for you yeah for you um to give you the facts to give the information so you can make a an educated decision and if and a lot of people tries out that they might just start with S5 or $10,000 and just do for three months just in check that we we do what we say we’re going to do and we understand that we understand there’s a so fear out there um and that’s what I recommend any but it’s not done investment forward look at doing that yeah something they’re comfortable with and uh and then even pull the money back out we we actually encour people to take the money back out so he shows we we pay it back and then come again you know I mean come back to us again uh we had the client last year did it three times in a row and now they’ve left the money inant I like that so we want to build confidence uh longterm obviously and referers is obviously the way in it most businesses you we want to make people feel comfortable and you’ve been around about seven years now yeah s and a half years now seven and a half years so and we’ve always repaid the Investments always achieved the targeted rates as well uh the advertised um and always paid the monthly interest so I think our history speaks volumes um they’ve got a very good business model with the directors have set up and um it’s worked well so y I like it all right okay we’ll keep it a short one this time I know we’ve had a good chat during the week we’ve got a busy day ahead of you haven’t you yeah well this is the the final game and uh I know a lot of people would be interested in uh in picking up the scores here yeah we’ve got quite a few people hitting us up and they’ll be asking about the rink that’s about 300 yards away and what the score is so we may stream wasn’t here so the forand coming down here opened up a little bit the the Arts a little bit wider and the back hand’s something similar so it’s a little bit narrow on the forehand that going in this direction but hopefully we can continue with a good good balls and through this game and get a quality match I think we’re good for the weather as long as that stays away did I say that yeah than time I met him was at Paradise Point many moons ago when we played premier league and I’m going to DARE him to do the is his famous hucker here one of their days maybe during the Matador which is coming up in a few weeks time H he does it as good as any Mary and that’s no offense to the mares um but I still remember I just wish in those days we had the uh the video cameras going do you have any footage of that no mate it’s all gone it’s all G gone yeah I think the ha days R La man okay I’ll I’ll get him all right well Jay’s the new bows coordinator here at at Broad Beach and stepping in the shoes of Ryan bester and I’m sure he’s got big enough feet to uh to be making a difference around here and on that now what um what sort of goals plans achievements do you have for here mate oh mate uh lots lots I figured that look it’s a fantastic Club as you know La man um obviously uh close to the biggest in Australia in terms of all the major events uh we’ve got a crazy calendar coming up as you know with the AO and everything but uh we’ve got uh our broad Beach tournaments as well coming up we’ve got the blue diamond peirs on the 3D and fourth of June as well as the uh Matador fors on the fifth 6th and 7th so for those people out there that don’t know the Met m Mador fors sorry has uh had a little bit of a change to the format this year extremely popular event uh um the phone had been ringing like crazy for good strong solid teams some of the best Bowlers in Australia wanting to play so I’ve uh I’ve extended the field to 70 teams now 70 teams and uh so from 56 to 70 teams which meant I needed a fifth green and thank you to Southport bows club for coming on board lending me a green for 3 days so really looking forward to that one L man excellent and they come from not only uh all over Australia you you’ve got overseas visit as well hav he Oh look The the out of the 70 I’d say there could possibly be a good 25 teams from New Zealand so uh so we’re talking Internationals world champions Commonwealth Games Champions exactly would you say one probably one of the strongest fors events on the calendar oh most definitely looking at the field I did publish the field on uh Facebook when it was just the 56 team tournament but uh I will be publishing the uh the teams again this week coming uh uh now that it’s extended out to 70 and um looking at the field I can’t think of another Falls tournament apart from possibly the AO that’s stronger so and the diamond uh equal standing yeah the Blue Diamond very very strong uh unfortunately this year New South Wales scheduled a uh inter Zone um competition so we have lost a couple of New South Wales best due to due to that little Clash but when you look at the field it’s still exceptional well that’s nice of them to give a few of the locals here a chance isn’t it well exactly mate that’s that is honestly the plus side to it there’s always a plus side to everything and uh the amount of uh good locals here that have been biting it the bit to get into that competition here’s their chance all right and Innovations you don’t have to to tell me if you don’t want to but I’m sure you’ve got something in mind all right I’m just baiting him I’m sure I I know Jay from old and uh Jay spent quite a few years at the malula bar bows club and good old Snappers yep the Snappers that’s right we got the state championships this week and uh I was just doing up the cards for for Monday we got the mixed pairs here on Monday and there’s uh there are a couple Snappers in the draw we uh look forward to greeting on Monday and you’re obviously not going to get a chance to play yourself no well um extremely excited to uh to really dive back into the bows now that I’m down at one of the strongest clubs in Australia but uh just being new to the role I’ve decided not to play any bows until after the Australian Open and and just focus on all the events mate uh then soon as Gold Coast penet rolls around I’ll be lacing up the boots good move and you’re well you’re obviously going to be living down here by then and uh instead of having to travel up and back because you’ve got a day off and a family to see correct mate yeah um so yeah still doing the commute I’ve got plenty of uh mats down here I can bunk with uh through the week but still there are many days that I I still do the the back and forth from the Sunshine Coast but um the family are eager to get down and that’ll get settled over the next month hopefully excellent yeah all right well we uh we give you a warm welcome here to Broad Beach and uh I’m not going to give up on your hucker maybe one day mate all right I need a few ciders first I think so is anything you want to leave us with no not really mate just um look on behalf of Scotland played played golf played with my dad I feel B my dad was a good golfer played off he seven when I was about 18 year old uh my dad was off less yeah so so he always beat you you man yeah more or less h no so was pretty sportive as a kid when I was growing up and I was always round sport my dad was a good footballer he get opportunity to sign for queen of the South and he knocked it back wow to you was before I was born H so he he played com Juniors to K Rovers and all that stuff as well so as a my dad was a good football player then excellent so yeah more or less following what my dad did played he was one of the founding members of the bows Club where where I came from yeah glaz Valley was the name of that BS Club what was it called glaz up Valley B Club in h little town in k h so he was one of the founding members back in back in the day was R about this oh this 7879 it’s still open yet so my dad’s still a member he’s he’s been president he’s now the president of O Indo Monte Monte Margaret also Margaret Bram who she used to be part of the Scotland squad for selectors and she’s the she runs she’s a manager of that indoor Bowling Club we that’s a one green yeah one green y he seven seven ranks and that’s where Stuart Anderson and know that’s started playing his balls in the carpet is that his still his current Club no he’s up in Glasgow now okay so yeah that’s some Spectators round about the greens and people watching as Alan said there’s a few inside it’s getting a little bit more chillier so it’s good to see that we we can get the the sport out there Al and people coming to watch it exactly and I dare say the other three venues we’ll have plenty of people there watching as well and hopefully they’ve got it on the big screen in the bowling clubs yep Paradise Point they’ll they’ll have the big screen down so they normally do so which is good Scotty’s got it out the AL yeah you would have to say live stream is the best thing that’s ever happened to balls oh yes I can’t think of anything else that has dramatically changed it as much probably the introduction of colored balls and yeah probably the introduction of uh of Junior bows and you combine the lot hey we’re on our way aren’t we yeah it’s not the state old sport that it was in the Dark Ages now you need you need the Juniors to keep the the sport going MH so and the the introduction of color ballls and a little bit Chang the formats helps to introduce the kids into developing them into the sport so what we really need is the uh those guys who are retiring from their sport because of injuries hopefully not major injuries but you know your your tennis players your uh your golfers uh your probably your footballers who uh you know just just struggling with uh playing in the mid-30s to 40s there that that is really our target market because they uh they’ve got uh you know money to spend and you know they’ve probably raised their kids and the kids have gone away and uh they they are a major asset and even even introduction to the arms to help the oh yeah that’s another Innovation that’s to me the introduction the armor is keeping Bowers competitive and playing the sport more to allow them to see cuz you got those Bowers that kind of bend down due to bad BS or bad tips when you get older and it’s good to see that it’s allowing the older generation to still compete at a good level MH through the on Bowers and you’ve got your queens and on Bowers now as well so got their on state championships it’s good to see know what I mean fantastic good introduction to the sport and like I know a lot of people don’t like playing people that has got an arm yeah cuz they’re so good yeah that’s right but yeah it’s a good introduction it keeps people active and still playing the sport yep never know one day I might need one myself do one just now I’ve tried to uh avoid it and everybody they must be giving me a message why don’t you try the stick I’m going what do you know that I don’t but my my wife Hana she she con back to balls and she had a bad HP and she played with the stick for about three four months and yeah was good with it but she got through it and started actually Bowling properly again so she’s actually delivering her ball without any help so that’s a good result y so hanah’s into something when I say into something working along uh do you want to
