Justin berlander has been in the league for 19 years out of his career just what impresses you the most it’s got to be um it’s got to be just a combination of all the factors he’s got um durability power uh intellect creativity um certainly I think durability is probably the uh one that sets him apart the most he’s in the mid mid 3000s in terms of innings and that’s uh pretty incredible how do you think he’s done it well he’s definitely blessed uh he’s got he’s got probably the biggest pitcher legs in the league at this point um he’s always had a great lower half and used it very efficiently and you know he’s he’s been injured um several times rather seriously but seemed to just be uh just very resilient yeah and um not lose a beat after he’s come back from um from some of those some of those Unfortunate Events he’s still touching 97 at times is that kind of remarkable to you as well and just what have you thought the way he’s kind of continued to evolve as a pitcher yeah and he’s always trying to figure out how to get an edge or get a little bit better um you know he he’s he’s always uh always chopping at the bit to get back out there it doesn’t surprise me he’s still hitting 97 his mechanics when they’re efficient are um are exactly really kind of what you want um he transfers Force really well from the ground so as long as his legs are strong he’ll be in a good spot to throw the ball hard I know you guys were close when you were in Houston together what’s some of the stuff that you learned from him if anything I mean just I mean I learned a lot about the four seam uh fastball uh I learned a lot about um just other aspects of his routine um and uh you know I I just will kind of forever be thankful for those two years now you were out there throwing a bullpen today 20 pitches you told me what’s next for you uh day off tomorrow and um maybe try to get off the slope again this weekend keep an eye on it thanks Garrett thanks h

  1. Verlander helped Cole become the dominant lights out pitcher he is. For that I'm greatful. Verlander is a 1st ballot hall of famer. What a career he has had. Glad we got him yesterday.
