rest of the guys are either dying in bed or still sleeping I think so we’re getting on top of it today shout out to all the moms out there happy Mother’s Day proud of y’all hockey moms regular moms Wings we will be ranking all of the forwards today we will be starting with some Red Wings news Around The League news and then going into making the rest of the tier list we finish off the defenseman crunch and we picked the worst time to do it because there are more forwards than there are defenseman and Coes happen so we’ll go as quickly as possible but Red Wings news to me banov signs extension was cska of the KHL it’s like one or two more years Derek that he’s gonna be over there former second round pick yeah you nervous at all about that uh I mean the more people talk about it the makes he freak out a little bit more but at the same time it happens all the time it’s not a big deal it’s a two-year deal obviously the Russian Factor plays a weird thing that’s going on with everybody’s decisions and what’s happening with them but at the same time I don’t think it’s going to really do anything it’s just that he’s developing over there two more years and then we’ll probably have an elite player on our team hopefully I’m not too worried I don’t think he’s going to stay over in the KHL forever I think he’ll eventually make this way over but you never know kids these days are doing some weird stuff literally just picking and choosing what teams they want to be on just because they can didn’t know that was an option so as long as he’s getting playing time maybe money has a factor into it I don’t know how much he’s getting paid on these extensions my understanding was is that he already had a year that he could continue playing but I I think they voided that and then signed him for an extra two just so that way I think he stays and gets paid more so maybe playing time and just the comfortability of me there and it’s the KHL right so I can’t be upset about that right that’s a very good League it’s good for his development so I’m not really too worried but I can understand why other people are worried because of that second round attachment to his name right we used a second round pick it was kind of a reach pick at that point too right when we made the or at least Steve e did so we’ll just have to wait and see I’m not really worried but you just never know like Derrick said hey as development keeps going up that’s all we care about yes sir ASP has signed his three-year entry level contract with the Detroit Red Wings that was on Monday morning he’s not coming over to North America but he even said in you know hit his post signing that it just feels right to stay in Sweden it’s fine I can see why people are upset that he’s not coming to North America not too much of a difference I guess if you want to develop your player from North America and like AHL to the shl it is what it is the comfortability thing too there’s a good chance that he could just make the jump to the Red Wings once he is done over there who knows I mean just think of the conditioning he’s getting with those big ass Arenas like come on his lanss are going to be amazing he’s going to be able to go 25 30 minutes a night up there like we don’t it doesn’t matter once he gets done over there in shl which I do wish they had like a different start to their season so we could potentially see him play at least at the prospect tournament but I digress that’s probably not gonna happen again because of course they’ll probably start the same damn weekend but whatever but I think you’re right Zack when like you said once he has one more year over there I think that development over there for him is going to be amazing especially with cronwell and Lindstrom over there trying to help his development I think we’re good he’ll be able to come right over and jump on the team probably just surpass the AHL I know I’m think speaking very highly of him right now with barely ever watching him play but his stats alone speak for himself so 18y old destroying the shl I’m excited for it I’m excited for it too you know getting more minutes playing in a bigger role than what he did this season yes he won the Swedish Hockey League champion ship but there’s still more room to grow as a player right so be on the lookout for that hopefully he can make the North America jump once his shl season ends maybe play with grg or make the jump to the Red Wings for a little bit depending on where the teams are at Nate Danielson makes the WHL finals posting five goals 16 assists for 21 points in the 14 games Monday night going 12 and two and three rounds shutting out their opponents in the first two rounds they have been playing I believe they played their first game last night and they ended up losing I think it was like five to one Nate Danielson was the only goal scorer Derek he is just dangerous with the puck he looks more and more comfortable as time progresses and I don’t know if that’s because the Portland Winterhawks are a better team than the Brandon we kings were or are we just actually seeing Nate Danielson and what he could bring to the Red Wings in the future I would say both on that one obviously we he got like the perfect scenario happened where he got taken from uh the what whatever the weat Kings was it the team before and put onto the winter hawks he went from a place where he had no support no one who could actually produce goals to a team that actually can produce he can actually pass the puck to somebody and they can put it in the net obviously shown by his 16 assists in 21 games or 14 games yep like it just mattered who he was around obviously that’s always going to impact like how you’re developing and what your stats are going to look like if you’re on a crap team compared to a good team it’s going to show and thank God like Danielson is everything that we’re hoping and dreaming of right now because he is producing at a high rate and I can see him making that jump to the team next year because I thought he was GNA be able to do it this year unfortunately we just had all our spots filled up before the camp even started it would be a little shocking to me if Danielson did make the roster before Marco Casper does only because I think Marco casar has more of grit to his game than I think Nate Danielson does but Nate Danielson his Poise with the puck and off the puck is so fluent that I don’t know how you can say no to someone like that but once again we’ll just have to wait and see Derek but good points there for sure yeah the only reason I see Carter making it above them is just because uh experience that he already has in the AHL NHL only reason right now other than that I feel like they’re both equally paired yeah I would agree with you 100% Augustine speaking of Pro Prospects shuts gets a how do I say this oh my God why did I write it this way Augustine shuts out the shootout for the te for Team USA in prelims I believe he went five for five um Alex lion I don’t remember if he let in a goal or not maybe he had a shut out as well so Team USA ended up winning that game I can’t even remember who it was against so pardon me for being lacking in my notes here but um something happened to Alex L in the game the other day where he had to come up um or had to come out and Augustine had to take over Alex lion was 14 for 14 on his shots against uh Augustin went 11 and 12 the uh game was to one and then he posted a 917 to 8 percentage I don’t know why that was so difficult for me to speak on that oh my goodness I’m not going to lie I saw that in the notes earlier and I forgot to tell you like what does this mean yeah that’s uh sorry everyone I apologize for that one um no good for Augustine you know if Alex lion is injured for this foreseeable future that means Augustine gets at least a start and I think that’s awesome that’s what I wanted to see was for him to get at least one start hopefully he can get a win I don’t know if he would count this one as a win for him or if that would go to line but glad to see he made majority of the saves sucks they let one in but from what I saw he looked very poised out there he looked very calm very much in control of what he was doing and controlling the pucks when they were coming to him so good job Trey Augustine and then oie ma ma in his game against great Great Britain I believe that was on Saturday gets a goal and an assist and a 8 to zero win I never knew Great Britain had team yeah they’re not one that’s talked about too much and obviously you can tell that we don’t get a lot of prospects or any high-end Talent from that area so that’s why not too many people know that they have a team not very often do you see someone from Great Britain getting selected in the NHL entry draft that is correct um that’s said for Red Wings news there was a lot there oh I almost forgot Lucas oh Grand Rapids Griffins advances to the second round which might not start until tomorrow on Monday they basically had this whole entire week off did you see the video of barren running the marathon that was going on or whatever it was in Grand Rapids with his full gear on it was absolutely hilarious Jesus talk about stamina like I would have died in the first 500 steps granted the video was just him walking just up the street or running jogging up the street near the arena so I don’t think he actually did the whole thing but it was pretty hilarious that he actually did that though did the fold get up and everything no one came up to him or anything but the other people were probably like this guy how dare he show us up like this I really hope he finished the whole race at that point then I do too I kind of want to ask him if we can ever get him on janathan berren if you are watching or listening please we would love love to have you on the show thank you Lucas Raymond gets an a for the world championships with Team Sweden and then against Team USA in the first game that they played both teams played Raymond scores against Alex lion winning three to2 in the first game of the tournament and it was a snipe coming down the slot Derek it was awesome and there’s our boy whoops right there with no a on his chess but he does have one like on Derrick’s Jersey he does have one uh Derek did you see the goal oh of course I saw that goal I don’t know how you’re allowed to do that to your own teammate like come on you know all lines weaknesses why do you gotta explode him like that Raymond come on buddy it was a beautiful goal ban got embarrassed it’s okay I also saw people saying lion should know where Raymond is going to shoot but I feel like it’s the opposite where Raymond should know where to shoot and that he’s going to score more versus L saving more shots on Raymond would you agree with me on that oh yeah I mean we all know that Lion’s weak up on that blocker side and Raymond saw it and like well thank you yeah done he just took it right in that corner it’s like well he saw it all the way you can’t do anything about that as a goalie like you got your weak points and he knew it Steve Eiserman if you can go into the offseason and get a goalie that is good and high danger shots against for saves please get one of those that would be awesome uh Derek let’s go into Around The League news playoff updates let’s see here New York Rangers leading 3 to1 the Carolina Hurricanes won last night four to3 and then the Dallas Stars beat the avalanch 4 to1 to take the series two to one and I’m trying to check the other ones the emont Oilers and Vancouver Canucks are tied one to one and then the Florida Panthers lead the Boston Bruins two to one you shocked by any of these I’m kind of shocked that the canes almost got swept yeah that’s probably the only one that I was more so surprised about mainly because of the shot total the last three games for Carolina alone sh L just playing out of his goddamn mind when you save what was it 55 shots on 57 like then what was the next night 45 on 47 like Jesus Christ yeah Carolina has been shooting the puck a lot and I’m very maybe I shouldn’t be surprised by this but I am that each game has been decided by one goal every game hasn’t been multiple it’s always been by one goal so it’s not like Carolina’s been playing bad New York Rangers are just shooting the puck a little bit better which I I guess maybe that’s my mistake because I picked the canes winning the championship together I thought maybe they’re defense would be able to hold back all the scoring opportunities that other teams would bring to the table but Rangers they got they got a lot of good players on that team Derek and is Carolina just is it their system is it their players what do you think I think the Rangers are just capitalizing on all their shots that they’re taking like they like it seems to be an even tell match going through the entire game and sometimes it looks like Carolina’s actually the one on top of it for most of the time and just out of nowhere we started seeing these goals getting wacked up for New York and them at the same time I’m like how are they going back and forth so evenly when they one team does look like they’re overproduced in the other but we’ve seen that happen non-stop with the Red Wings so it’s just hockey it’s one of those Sports where you just don’t know what’s going to happen at this point well I thought the Rangers were gonna sweep them again and go eight and0 for the playoffs but if they did that I was like well my entire bracket’s screwed up Rangers going to win it but at this point could Carolina make the comeback I don’t think so I think that’s uh be tough as as grasping that straws went four straight but it’s possible yeah best of luck to them can I get a mulligan and change my Stanley Cup Championship answer to the New York Rangers because that’s what it looks like yeah I mean already you can go I mean I’m still going back and forth with Florida Panthers here after they lost what was it one to six and then come back in six to one six to two so you know there’s always uh them to throw in the mix there too but Boston could come back and just start whooping their asses too I don’t know welcome to the playoffs anything can happen right now anything can happen much like how the Ottawa Senators can make anything happen where they sign Travis Green to be their next head coach for like the next four years yeah we kind of saw that one coming is it going to last a full four years I don’t know can you assume because this is what I’m doing can you assume that they’re going into like another rebuild but not tearing everything down rebuild a reconstruction maybe I know there’s another phrase for it like a retool type deal CU they have like components in places that they should be a good team as much as I don’t care for the AO Senators anymore and the fact that I’m hearing rumors about tchuck getting traded to New Jersey so yeah I I could see this being a nice little retool system they again they have pieces in like pieces in place for a long time already with people sign that are good they just got they just did terrible at building around those components yeah and I mean a lot of the same player honestly I mean I mean they have a lot of grit like they got that they have really good players in kachu stah Aon you know Pinto out there even he’s been doing great since his 41 game suspension yeah part of it’s probably due to coaching too but yeah I think that they just need to retool a little bit if they ever want to be a little bit better than what they’ve been recently so um speaking of laughable teams and organizations the Leafs fire head coach Sheldon Keef he did have a two-year extension left on his deal and we’re hearing that the Devils may be interested in in getting a Sheldon Keef I’m not surprised that Sheldon Keef got fired I’m a little surprised that Shanahan still has his job I know they all had their media pressors and everything the Marner comment about they looked like gods and everything I mean the whole being a maple Le the the whole thing about it it just it’s it’s it’s weird to me I don’t I don’t understand how time and time again you just keep proving everyone else right that you guys are one of the main laughing stocks in the whole entire NHL yes you have a really good regular season year in year out with with this core but everyone knows what’s going to happen it’s first or second round knockout it’s always me 90 95% of the time it’s first round you gotta do something about Derrick are you shocked by the fire no I was shocked that he still was around so much longer after that final press conference he had saying that the other team is just make like giving us the game to lose for ourselves like they’re just setting us up to lose it’s okay it’s like yeah buddy he I mean if he didn’t know then he put the final nail on the cop real quick yeah that’s for sure yeah more just Bryce Shanahan still there but again I definitely I kind of figured that they would keep him around at least one more year to try that try the system out one more time with them but I could still see a change up here in the offseason yeah I’m not sure what kind of head coaches that they’d be looking at I did hear something about Craig barui potentially I think that would be a great fit honestly as much as I would not want to see the Leafs continue being a successful organization I guess or at least a team I don’t want them to win a Stanley Cup I don’t want them to make it past the second round but I think that would be a good signing for him it would make a lot of sense um NHL draft lottery happened believe that was on Tuesday night no changes were made so the top pick goes to the San Jose Sharks and congratulations to them my buddy Matt that I used to work with he’s an old coworker of mine good buddy of mine he’s a sharks fan just because he likes sharks um congratulations to him on getting mlin celebrini honestly that team Derek honestly if you go on Elite prospects and look at their Prospect pool they have a lot a lot of young talent that we’re going to be seeing pretty soon probably in the next three years they’re going to have a really good young team will they be competitive I don’t think so but I think in five to seven years we can honestly look back and say wow this team did a really good job at drafting prospects obviously mlin celebrini helps but congratulations to them I’m a little upset we didn’t get fifth overall with our 05% chance yeah for some reason I didn’t see that happening I’m just happy to see that Chicago stayed exactly where they were supposed to be and didn’t move up to get another game Chang could you imagine that Derek what a celebrini top two pairing centers yeah no I don’t want to especially on Chicago I just don’t want to picture that at all it upsets me I’m a little sad that they didn’t try and help Utah a little bit because we all know it’s rigged right that little sneak peek was the real one at Utah second I was like yes put Chicago even farther down I’m okay with it but they are but they are still going to get a good pick so congratul ations to everyone on their draft spots um Derek pretty soon we’re going to have to do draft prospect profiles maybe we’ll do a mock draft eventually but I still need to do some homework on the prospects because I’ve been slacking trying to keep up with the regular season because this was honestly probably the first year in like 10 years I didn’t have to spend a lot of time looking at prospects by February time you know so at this point we’re like okay cool we could actually pay attention to the games and not have to look at the offseason because we had a chance right the Detroit Red Wings will be selecting 15th overall and uh I did do a thing showcasing previous 15 select overall players uh two two former Red Wings one being Trey Augustine the other being Dylan Lin so still have a shot of getting a really good player so if you’re if you’re nervous don’t be you can be because I’m a little nervous still but a lot of good players around that spot we’ll just have to wait and see it’s a very heavy defensive draft and if all these teams ahead of us want to pick defenseman before they pick some forwards that would be greatly appreciated because there’s a Cole Eiserman there’s a tag ginla there’s a Liam Green Tree there’s a couple other prospects the Detroit Red Wings would really like to have so Derek what if I told you that there’s a three Onre Hockey League coming to North America I mean what if I told you Zach that the cap pit was like $40 million yeah isn’t that crazy so I think it’s Dereck what if I told you Steve dangle is the one who breaks the news via social media about this Steve dangle breaks news that a new Pro Hockey League is coming to North America three Onre Major League Hockey arrives this fall thanks to Saudi Arabia investors Bower is also apparently involved somehow $30 million Derek for a three Onre league so are they just going to start prying former NHL players or are they going to get like AHL players that couldn’t make the NHL like what’s their target going to be my guess I mean at this point obviously the NHL is still G to be the superior League that most players want to be in but that cap hit that they’re throwing out there is going to be enticing to a lot of players but I feel like you’re right it’s more so going to be those who didn’t make the NHL those who are still stuck in the AHL but have talent just not enough to get up into the next league and I could definitely see some Mo balls coming back out of retirement just to play a few games in those two three on three obviously it’s a lot more ice a lot more uh having the agility and stamina to stay out there for those periods of times going back and forth but I say it’s going to be interesting and it gives us a reason to watch a lot more hockey oh yeah yeah oh yeah it it’s hopefully it starts before regular NHL season starts in October so hope it says fall I don’t know if fall technically means October maybe September I guess but we’ll just have to wait and see this this is a little nerve-wracking to me I’m excited for it but that $30 million yeah that could probably weigh some NHL talent but at the end of it I think I would agree with you that’s probably going to be some older players ones that couldn’t handle the longevity of an NHL season I don’t know how many games are going to be in this three on three tournament but for a $30 million capit it’s got to be at least 40 plus right 40 plus games you gota make your money back for that somehow and and how many teams my question is where are these teams playing yeah like where you getting these teams that you’re saying this fall that’s three months away from now four months away like are they going to be playing in NHL Arenas AHL Arenas whatever Arena they can find like at that point I’m sorry you’re if you’re going to play at what the ice box in Trenton you’re not going to get that money back I’m sorry the 50 people you can sit in there ain’t G to do it be on the lookout for future news because I feel like there’s a lot behind the scenes that we don’t know about yet because why would you come out with this and not have all that already planned unless they’re honestly just that ignorant that they just thought yeah let’s just say that we have this and not have everything under control so we’ll wait and see situation oh yeah that’s going it’s going pretty well so hopefully and it costus an outrage honestly some people are still not happy about that oh no I think it’s kind of fun like let me tell you virtual golf is a lot easier than regular golf just goes to show you that money talks man speaking of Money Talks Fanatics because they’re signing deals with every sport Sports league in the United States Fanatics to unveil new on Ice NHL jerseys sometime in June all signs pointing towards it being debuted at the NHL draft in Vegas which takes place on June 28th and 29th are you still going to that no no we’re not going anymore for some reason the $300 uh GA ticket just wasn’t saying yes to me I can see why you don’t want to you don’t want to pay that much just to be inside a floating giant well it’s not really floating but giant eyeball yeah basically let me tell you that’s just one cost getting to Vegas is a whole another thing maybe maybe they’ll have it on the actual eyeball so you can watch it from outside that would that’d be kind of cool just standing out there in the middle of a desert like Yep this is great I mean G all right Derek we can finally hop into the tier list making let’s go ahead and jump right into it right so we got all the forwards that we still have to do won’t go too in-depth with all these players but obviously we’ll still give our two cents about them and expectations and why we’re selecting them for the spots that they’re in so Derek you’re the leader here take it away all right buddy well let’s start well let’s go right down the lineup we have down here our first boy is one of our newbies cat attack coming up first cat attack I like that honestly i’ never thought of that not once have I heard that I think that’s a pretty good one we might have to make that into a shirt all right Zack how do you feel about him so offseason acquisition we traded a late first round pick depending on where Boston LS in the playoffs right so they’re going to be in the high 20s so great value for someone who almost put up 30 goals he was right around third or 70 points I believe if he didn’t get it already no 67 points sorry I had to pull it up I thought he was going to be a 30 goal scorer he was just under that by three goals 40 assists was nice expectations I thought he was going to do better than what he did in Ottawa he did a little bit better I think it was by like one or two points so he didn’t meet my expectations Derek honestly I kind of want to give him a d or a c he had really great moments I’m not here to talk about the moments I’m here to talk about the expectations he didn’t meet my expectations did he meet yours where would you place him coming into a new team like this off a weird deal where he just didn’t want to be at a place and was unhappy with it I didn’t expect a whole bunch I knew that 40 goal scor thing wasn’t going to happen especially his first year with us that’s just asking way too much especially getting thrown on a brand new team and the fact that he he did produce for the team one of our top Point producers obviously were we hoping for more yeah I mean at the end of the day we were expecting them to do a little bit more beginning of the Season he was running down the points tremendously and then he would just have these cold streaks for months on end where it defitely put a damper in what we thought he could do for us well I’ll give him the benefit of Doubt coming in a new team new teammates trying to learn the system and everything like that I give a little break on that end he didn’t produce the way it would think I was hoping he would but he did do subpar so i’ definitely go around the B range for him I will say because you are right there were plenty of times where the start of the Season Derek at one point he was on Pace for like over 150 goals like 200 goals right because he was just scoring at an outrageous Pace with Dylan Lin we were a very hot team then he went super cold for a very long time I think it was like 15 games or something like that where he wasn’t scoring a goal he was getting assists but he just wasn’t scoring goals but he did get in a couple fights he was getting into scrums he was being a gritty player for us out there so I can at least meet you halfway maybe the D was a little rough so I would go B or C you said B so I would be okay with putting him in B okay yeah you made it to the B ranking you were a success but you did not fail less completely so and you are correct though because you do have to give him the benefit of the doubt a little bit that H not just for him that this was a new team now it’s his third team in three years but half this roster was new right so a lot of players had to acclimate to this system really quickly so there’s the benefit of the doubt for him who do we got next Derek who we got next on this list is comper JT comper brought in as a 2C another offseason acquisition via free agency I mean for JT com for he he was another player who looked hot at the start start of the Season he finished the season with 77 games played 19 goals 29 assists 48 points I was expecting a little bit more I like his style of play very good two-way game he is a very good player I was expecting a little bit more I I was kind of hoping he would get into 20 goal territory just a lot of times where he was cold it was it was disheartening it made me feel like that he’s it was it almost made me feel like did we just sign another Andrew cop where we signed him to be a 2C and he’s ultimately not a 2C do I think he is a 2C yes is he Elite 2C no so I have to temper my expectation a little bit but I thought he would be closer to like 60 points maybe 65 so but he had a lot of really good moments too so I I’d probably put him in the CN D again probably leaning more towards a c I can see where it come with that yeah almost hitting 50 points isn’t bad again though for a 2C that we’re paying a good amount of money to bring in and after what he did last year he would expect him to be able to at least reproduce with a little bit of better team Red Wings are they that better team a little bit compared to where he was last year but at the same time hold on careful what you say there the Colorado Avalanche we’re better than the Colorado Avalanche can you tell I’m thinking of the wrong player I’m this was great I’m think FR Seattle right now let me tell you we’ll get to him in a minute oh yep ignore me we’re gonna go you know you know what Z sorry I’m G to take everything back we’re going to go straight with the c on this one because all right he did expect less than last year obviously with Colorado but we know why ignore my entire rant there at the beginning we’re just G to go with a solid C 50 points isn’t bad not what I wanted to see for a 2C though oh you crack me up we love you Derek just got throw him in there ignore me all right let’s go with Andrew cop it’s good because he’s the next one we got up on the list this one you’re you’re in your second year with the team you get bumped down you’re playing decent minutes I mean you play on the PK I think sometimes they would have him on the power play maybe he was playing P second pairing or the second unit he regressed personally I mean he he scored more goals but last season he put up 42 points nine goals 33 assists this year he put up 33 points 13 goals 20 assists they made mention that his duties out on the ice change compared to last season he had to play a little bit better defensively and he came out saying you know there’s more to my offensive game I’m trying not to include the contract in it but the contract just does not help whatsoever I I’m not a fan of the signing very good on the faceoffs very good on the PK but there were a lot of times where I had to stand up off my couch and just scream at the TV and just like yell out Andrew cop what are you doing there were a lot of bad moments with Andrew cop personally Derek so D I get that I mean i’ for the last few months we noticed that the third and fourth line were really producing a little bit for the too so I always play that into a factor like Ras m cop and all them they were doing pretty well for us especially when our first and second line weren’t producing at all but you’re right Zack and the fact that they disappeared for a while it was like they either were doing everything for the team or they were doing absolutely nothing and basically just costing goals costing defense and all this other BS that we didn’t want to have to deal with for somebody who we were paying premium dollar again trying to keep that out of this but we all know that contract hurts us but that’s not what we’re going off of we’re going off what they did this year their production and at 33 points it’s not bad except especially for a third fourth line center right that’s yeah but I definitely we were expecting more out of him especially after last year this is his second year he doesn’t have that leeway of joining a new team new Lin mates oh that’s a lie obviously there’s a lot of new Lin mates out there but not the ones he’s really playing with so I figured at at that point they should have had a little bit more to go with they did well at points suffered at points at best I would give him a c but I will meet you at a d because it’s probably more a c minus at that point and we didn’t say this for JT Comer so you can throw him in there as well because he was a part of it when Dylan Lin was out for those two stretches in December and then in February neither of those two really showed up when when we needed them to step up then same with Joe valeno because I’m going to throw him in there too and we’ll get to him eventually so remember that as well Derek I mean they when we needed them to step up when our number one Center and our captain was out they tried but they couldn’t succeed at and that’s why we had such poor December and February months or was it March I can’t remember they it’s they all were horrible I mean it’s one of those things that we have to look in our lineup like okay do we have someone who’s a capable three and 2C and if they’re a capable three and 2C they should be able to be capable of getting bumped up to that next mission above them when needed we did not have that anywhere no no the center depth here is I mean there’s a there’s a lot of glaring issues on this team I personally for me it’s the center depth right we have it but we don’t have anyone that can replace Larin and that is one player that this team desperately needs is that Nate Dan nson maybe is that Marco Casper maybe but at this rate when are we going to see them so I like Carlo always says I would not want to be Steve Eiserman this offseason because he’s got a lot of decisions to make um Derek who’s the next one next one I believe is fabri down here yeah that’s fabri good old Robbie I saw you going to Joe valeno I was like yes Derk they are two different players they look very similar okay one’s just thicker I guess I don’t know that’s what you said last time too with W that’s so funny Robbie Robbie fabri is a weird case for me because I I’m someone who doesn’t really I like Robbie fabry but I don’t I don’t like his cpit attach to the team so he’s a a offse player to move for me um so I got to try not to play that into this tier list um but in 68 games 18 goals 14 assists for 32 points almost played a full season still missed 14 games this at this rate this boy will never play a full NHL season maybe Robbie Fab will go to the three on three League when his contract is over because that might be easier on his body um but for him I mean almost getting 20 goals he he put up the most goals that he’s ever put up in the NHL since his 20156 season with the St Louis Blues in his first NHL year um just under his overall point total for an NHL season for someone who I I I really didn’t have high expectations for him I I I think mine was just to keep the injuries down and I guess he did that he did it a little bit better than he did last season than the year before so um yeah this this one’s just tough for for someone who is playing third line sometimes fourth line I believe maybe sometimes he got second line duties I wanted him to get 30 30 plus points I believe from what I remember maybe it was 40 but I put him in the B gritty player yeah good on the PK too you know he has a two-way game I put him in the B and the good thing about Robbie like you didn’t hear any negative really annotations put towards him this year like when he was out there he did his job like there are certain scenarios like the entire team where someone had a blunder and probably cost a play but he didn’t do bad with the 13 minutes of ice time actually under that that he was given the entire season on a third line 33 points was it it’s not bad again like you said the injury theme’s always a scary thing to think about he did better this year with 14 games only missed so almost at a half a point per game still at that point again probably not going to be a huge fit for the Red Wings anymore just because the poor man will eventually be probably broken in half at this point I’m just surprised he made it through the ENT most of the season this year honestly but I’m not I’m not mad he didn’t do bad he was a decent player at times did what we asked him to do nothing flashy really in the pan I I’ll I’m content with giving him a be for this season it’s just going to be unfortunate when he’s not on the team next year because that point production can definitely be replaced by like a Janan berren like I like I said I I I like the player I love the player I love him as a human being but his playing style to me just does not fit the team anymore he brings grit and everything but God every time I see him out on the ice it just seems like he’s falling somehow some way I don’t know what it is with him he’s just he always looks like baby out there to me sorry I’m not trying to rip on you too hard here I mean that’s what happens when you H over 25 your body just falls apart let me tell you when you hit 30 too it does the exact same thing just double it you’ll get there soon enough all right who do we got there is that is that a fish down there I see I believe that is Fisher up next Christian Fischer put him in the S tier I I don’t need to give an explanation just put him up in the S tier no honestly they were they were I don’t even know what kind of expectation that we could have placed on this guy I mean we always I think I don’t even know if we pegged him to be in the starting lineup at the beginning of the Season maybe we did I probably expected him you know if you’re a fourth line player you’re probably playing on the PK which he did you’re probably going to get somewhere between 15 to 20 points he did he got 19 in 79 games five goals 14 assists dip from last year when he played with the coyotes I’m sure he had a bigger line Duty with the yots you know I’d give them an I’d give them an A or a B Derek there weren’t too many bad bad spots for me with with Christian fiser he he he played a really good four check too every time that that fourth line went out there he was the one going in on the board battles corralling the puck and keeping the play alive in the opponent’s Zone I would put I would give him an A or a B I mean going from should have start off an S I mean he was that player that no one really expected to be in the lineup all that much and lo and behold he’s in it for 79 the entire season basically just a couple injuries here and there where he couldn’t be in healthy scratches maybe yeah didn’t really do anything terrible he was a hard worker fourth liner he scrum down the boards when he need to he produced when they needed him to like I wasn’t upset what was it like two games he got like what tripled his point total or something yeah I was pretty happy with that but I mean again he did more than I guess I was expecting him to do mainly by being in the lineup most of the Year wasn’t too upset guy played less than 12 minutes a game fourth line grinder not bad Fischer did well I’ll I’ll throw him up there an a I’ll give him an a this season he did exactly what I was hoping he would do and a little bit more bring back fish bring back back fish worth BL grinder baby I’ll take that all day especially at the that he has yeah I mean I I would I would bring him back I think he’s a strong candidate to bring back and I think that putting him in a is a good spot to put him in I think that’s fair more than fair honestly this one Derek Showtime the white whale how we feeling about Patrick Kane this season just put up in the S honestly yeah yeah let’s be honest you can’t really say too much about his game it was everything we hoped for from four years ago mid-season acquisition pretty much mid-season you know he came in just under a point per game this guy he for someone coming off of a hip resurfacing surgery and the history behind and NHL players coming back are not good 47 points in 50 games 20 goals 27 assists playing Top Line playing second line Showtime I all you can say I don’t know what else I can really say I mean for Red Wings fans that are watching this you you know what I’m talking about I I don’t even need to say anything else the the amount of times that I jumped out of my seat whether if I was at a game or in my house or somewhere else watching a game because Patrick Kane had the puck on the stick and he shoots it and he scores I mean that the electricity that he brought to us fans this year that alone just puts him in s tier oh come on Steve just back up the Brinks truck give him that two-year deal get him the 39 I don’t care at this point I’m giving him a three-year deal just just suck it up just give him the three-year deal if you have you know where’s case you have to P him on LTI just just give him what he wants at this point but if it’s like six plus mil maybe rethink it I don’t know maybe we’ll see four and a half for the next you know three years I think that’s that’s a nice deal to take Kane come on buddy Steve just do whatever you gotta freaking do my dude Showtime Patrick Kane wants to be a Detroit Redwing there’s a reason why he came here the first time he doesn’t want to leave he wants to stay here in mtown Detroit City make it happen come on let’s just take away it from Chicago and retire his jersey over here they already got uh what’s this God Jos got next oh yeah Kane was a pretty easy one to jump through huh oh our and joy of the team Dylan Lin same thing with him just throw him up in the ass I mean that’s your number one Center that’s your captain just uh under a point per game I believe I’m letting it load right now oh just over a point per game 69 points at 68 Games 33 assists led the team in goals 36 assists yeah Dylan Lin har soul of this team I don’t know what else I can say this guy was just all over the ice does everything that you hope and ask for of your captain just s to your rank Derek I mean I really don’t know what else I could say the team fell apart literally when he wasn’t there correct where else you g to put the literal glue of a team in an S tier especially when he produces that much still and not being there that many games and is still your top player on your team I mean Raymond we’ll get to you buddy you’re a close second let me tell you but you can’t do anything without your captain and Lin was literally the heart and soul and brought that team together and made them do all the pushes that they needed and when he wasn’t there it was a disaster so you can’t put him anywhere else by us at this point yeah I agree who’s next who is next ooop and we got Daddy P dad P David pan all right David pan I was a little nervous for him because he wasn’t doing well at the beginning of the Season or at least Midway through as well because of obviously like you just mentioned when dyl Lin was out everyone was suffering 47 points in 76 games just nine points short of his previous total of 56 points 17 goals 30 assists this season I wish he got to 20 goals that’s kind of what I was expecting but I did expect a little bit of a drop off because as you get older at 35 years old you’re going to start going down the hill a little bit so um still there were plenty of times where he looked gas out there but I still think his two-way game his mentality on the ice is there there were a lot of times where he was being it seems like he was being the coach he definitely was a father figure to this team he just did a really good job overall at leading this team when they needed it granted they didn’t make the playoffs but that’s not on David pan I think he did a really good job at maintaining the composure of some of these players maybe all of them so for me I would probably say a b or a c I probably wouldn’t go as high as an a I wouldn’t say that he surpassed my expectations I think maybe he just met them or maybe went above them so b or c yeah that’s not a bad ranking for him I mean piranha is what he is now we knew what we were getting his game is what it is now he really doesn’t have the feet to move him around anymore he doesn’t have the great Puck control but his compete is outstanding still he’s one of our only players that will go into a board battle and destroy the other team and get that puck out for us and he wins those battles probably 80% of the time like he has some good quality he has great leadership he’s just getting older like like you said Zack we anticipated that there’d be a drop off from last season a little bit more expensive than I was hoping especially in the goal area but he was producing on the assists and still got the good point total a little over a point half a point per game do I think he should be playing up on the second line still no definitely uh third line at most right now I would say for pan situation but at the same time going with a B for Daddy Pon because I’d say he just hit expectations this year I go with a B all right slap him up in the be we have a lot of bees on this team I’m realizing I know I feel like these would be interchangeable like imagine if we had Matt and Carlo on here maybe we would put some of those in like the SE maybe someone be in a so who knows I feel like they’re a lot more judgmental than us though I a lot more these for some reason and enough judgmental in a good way no harm feelings there Carlo and Matt all right Dereck who’s up next who do we got we only got a couple more here yep we’re winding them down it looks like we got the blueeyed Devil Himself Ras M the blueeyed devil oh my goodness all right Michael Ras m you stare into his eyes because I am moose yeah I would not want to look into his demon eyes either yeah moose signed it signed an extension this season for three years because he’s been putting in work every season he’s definitely progressed at least in the point category he’s progressed on the ice from what I noticed I was expecting a little bit of a bigger jump only because of what he gave us a taste of last season when he kind of started taking over um not to say that he played worse but I kind of was expecting maybe a little bit more but I can’t say this season was not a success for him for someone who was a consistent good third line player who also can play PK um just needs to drive the net a little bit more I feel like he just needs to play netf front too because that’s what he did in juniors playing um that’s how he got most of his goals that’s why we drafted him to kind of be like a Thomas Holstrom player I’d give him a b or an A I mean I was pretty happy with his performance this year obious didn’t make any giant improvements from last year but after he came back from that injury he was playing aggressively better than the previous half of the year that he was doing last year so I mean I’m not happy in the sense that he didn’t progress coming into this year but I’m happy he didn’t fall like he stayed consistent from La end of last year through this entire year and I was pretty happy with his performance obviously like you said we could utilize him a lot better especially in that upfront presences like he has got he’s got that big body he’s a big forward he could use that a lot better especially in situations like what David Pon does like I could see Raz getting into those and being that guy a little bit better being that in front of the net just cement him down there pump around a defenseman be a guy who just tips in shots but we still got some time obviously I don’t think we’re going to see much more from rans than what getting right now I wish we would but I’m pretty sure we probably are at the max tier of it so did wasn’t amazing good third line player I give him a b I’m I’m pretty sound on a B for him too yeah I feel like his his ceiling could be a 40p point player if he gets any higher than that then that’s well above you know what I feel like you would expect out of him yeah and you said the word consistent he he’s been very consistent for the team and that’s how he got that contract right very consistent player knows how to do his job does it very well day in day out night in night out just all around very good third liner that you would want on your hockey team personally for me so yeah Lucas Raymond just throw him up in s right I mean 30 goals season highest point getter on the team the season came in very clutch when Dylan lurin was out again you know later on in the season and then the the game timeing goals the OT winning goals just the performance he put on it was Patrick Kane es we said it so many times this season the things that Patrick Kane does not just on the ice but the mentality and just the hockey IQ that he can provide to players like alcas Raymond definitely helped him out this season I believe we expected a jump like this I think our expectations were a little far beyond the what we thought he could reach out because I remember I was saying like oh yeah dyar can get 100 points all this stuff he can get Lucas Raymond can get 40 goals but going into it yeah I’m giving him an S because he the clutch Gene has been activated I think from here if we saw a degression from what he just did this season I would be a little nervous I would look at coaching I don’t think it would be the player at that point because now the expectation is okay let’s see if you can keep going from here can you be like a 75o player can you be 80 Point can you get 85 the ceiling keeps on increasing for this kid or at least for Me Maybe other people had a ceiling for 80 Point guy eventually but yeah before I go too much on a tangent here and further in the rabbit hole ask here from me Derek yeah I mean going just off the last quarter of the Season alone those goals those clutch moments he was pulling Pittsburgh Montreal like all those games watching him just produce watching him work hard especially when Lon was out who was the only name that you would see up on the board who was the only person putting on a show for us working hard it was Raymond out there driving that entire Team without Lin it was Raymond and I’d be surprised we don’t see an A on Raymond’s sweater next year I mean are we getting a taste right now with him wearing it on his jersey as he plays for the worlds I don’t know I feel like that might be a good sign because after Lin he’s our next best player like could he oh could he actually surpass Lin possibly like obviously Lin had a rough start when he came into the Red Wings we don’t want to relive those days but the kid did well and we got Raymond overproducing what I believe he did back in those days right now correct not can stop off my dresser but I mean before I I jump into a tangent Jesus yeah sorry like we already put him there like I don’t know why we have to explain even more if you watch you know what happened this season he is on the right way on the train for the Red Wings and it’s a beautiful thing to see and hopefully just keeps riding that train up baby yeah and that’s all we need to see from him because as long as he keeps producing like this and more oh oh we got like a what would he equivalent to like a second round draft pick at what was he like six seventh who what say that again who saying like instead of brayman being where he we actually picked him up he’s equivalent now to like a second first round pick so I was pretty happy with that second overall pick okay yeah sorry I won’t be editing this out because that is just too funny that I did not understand anything you just said I know the kind of space like did I say that right like I thought I maybe not I think I spaced out a little bit too as you were speaking I was like wait he’s talking to me okay my bad um no you’re exactly right I think if you did a redraft it would go sta then Raymond instead of lafern Byfield sta Rayman right so yeah correct and if it was any other draft minus like the Conor badar draft he would probably be a top pick in in the draft a number one overall pick so yeah good good work this season Lucas Raymond just keep working hard and yeah Derek real quick I know that we’re on a time crunch here but I did do a Twitter poll if there was an a that you could give out to any player but the two choices were cider and Raymond who would you select to get that a out of like the 252 votes I think it was like 51 or 52% said morit cider would you agree with that just be quick about it yeah I would agree with I agree with that because just because Bo is such a concrete foundation One D our main D for our team and he’s gonna be here for hopefully his entire career if we do this correctly yeah so yeah I would have like obviously Raymond Purdue ungodly and will continue to but we have our Cornerstone in Raymond or not Raymond Insider so you could sayman too but yeah I would I would go with you on that and say yeah I would probably give cider the a first but Lucas fman really is making a case and quite surprised I was that close on the pool so thank you to everyone who voted on that that was greatly appreciated and Dereck we’re gonna go with the baly Daniel sprong sorry Daniel Daniela coming over from Seattle for me I I really don’t remember what my expectation was for Daniel sprong I probably wanted him to be relative to what he did with Seattle he wasn’t quite there he he was making the case like he there he came up pretty came up pretty close just by three points um under his point or his goal total by three so he got 18 25 assist 43 points compared to last season with last games played 10 L games he put up 46 points for 21 goals 25 assists so second half of the Season Derek he just completely disappeared um there were times where he was a healthy scratch because he just could not figure it out what the coaches were asking him to do he couldn’t play a defensive game he very much is one-dimensional he is was the replacement for Dominic Kulik when we traded him to the Suns with the Alex to Brad trade see see or de yeah he really uh I mean like you said beginning of the Season he was producing very well it was looking good and he was on the up and up but after that has kind of disappeared I know there’s been some tension with him the coaching staff and what they’re trying to get him to do and what he thinks he should be doing and obviously it doesn’t look like spon’s going to be part of the team next year from what everyone’s uh been saying quite frequently at this point but yeah I mean I was hoping for a little bit more especially coming off of Seattle they were not terrible last year not the greatest but not terrible I believe they made it to the first round right they did not a worst team 20 goals on that team not doing bad we were hoping for something similar kind of got there but like you said it was mainly the beginning of the Season production then healthy scratches here and there not doing what he’s needed to do letting up dumb goals and whatnot here and there ah just fell off the radar a bit and sadly Pro like I said won’t be with the team most likely next year but that’s not really plain in a factor in what is going on with in this season so I was hoping for more I’d go with a solid C on him though all right for four third liner he did okay with his production so I’m not too upset there but again wish for more yeah overall was a third liner got power play minutes snipe of a shot but yeah there was I think there was a lot missed there so last but not least Derek we’re done last one Joe valeno Joey Joe valeno on a one-year Pro it deal with the Red Wings how are we feeling this year on that Pro it deal Zack I think he proved that he can continue to increase his point production to me though while he did do that 12 12 goals 16 assists 28 points and 80 games compared to last season where he put up 20 points nine goals 11 assists and 81 games it didn’t to me it didn’t seem like his overall game improved it felt like that he was just his hockey sense where he was able to get into the right spots at the right time he’s got a decent shot it’s not the best it’s not the worst he knows how to get himself in himself in the right spots I mean he’s a fourth line center for the amount of points that he got as a fory that’s well above expectation right I I I think for me though I wanted to see a bigger jump I thought maybe he could get into the 40 Point range that’s what I was hoping he would do I think he proved that he could be a serviceable third or fourth line Center in the NHL but I wanted more so I’m probably just gonna have to give him a c i mean that’s probably where I’m going to land too at this point like he had a very good beginning of this season I was actually very impressed there I’m like yeah he’s popping out I’m pretty sure he was close to a point per game for the first few weeks or something like that where he was just producing he was getting everything done I was like okay this man is on a pro it deal and he’s out here proving it right away it’s beautiful but then just petered off you know the league started uh becoming what the league was supposed to do the Red Wings stopped getting those high percentage scoring that they were doing all season long and we just saw him slowly regress as a team regress too so wasn’t exactly the season I wanted for him but he did prove that he is a reliable NHL and someone that can be used on basically any any NHL team most likely though on the bottom six probably bottom three most likely you can obviously interchange him he’s good enough to be in the 3C but I wouldn’t go any higher than that at this point I don’t know if this going to be like the full valeno that we’re going to see cuz usually when we get these kind of scenarios when you’re trying to prove it you’re going to do the best you physically can and if that’s what we saw this year it’s subpar I guess I’m not upset with it but I wanted more so under produced I would say so yeah I’ll go with the sea on it yeah and let’s remember too we gave him opportunities to play when Lin was out playing as the onec that didn’t work out he probably got looks at 2C that didn’t work out ended up becoming the 3C when lurin was out it was mid at best yeah at most he he can be a 3C so this honestly could be the ceiling that we’re looking at someone like a Joe valeno so for this season that’s a c maybe three years let’s say we signed him to a three-year deal and this is exactly what he’s giving us again I’d probably put him in a lower tier but if he’s staying consistent with it for a 4C then I guess I couldn’t complain either but yeah feel like Jo valeno could be a great try candidate this season especially if he wants term I don’t think we can give that to him and at that point bring up Casper or Danielson or whatever you got to do so Derek we’re done we did it buddy I mean I’m not gonna lie it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it was going to at the same time we have a lot of people that just were average I mean that was it fits with this team we were average we finished bottom in the bottom 15 15th worst team in the league I mean there’s yeah I mean if you were to do this for the Colorado Avalanche I guarantee you they’d have maybe double the amount of vesas and A’s than this team would so I’m very shocked that we only had three d’s and Fs yeah honestly like I mean the it kind of goes to show you what the team did this year like look at their s tier we had some games that we played out of our mind but not many of them a tier we played up to our standards I would say then we got the B tier going back and forth playing against Bad teams and good teams winning some losing some beating Colorado losing two times to Arizona then we got the cdnf where the games that we just shouldn’t have lost but we somehow lost I said that F down there is probably the one against San Jose the one I had to go to unfortunately and watch that uh eight goal scenario in the second period with six minutes left that was great yeah you and Matt both ouch toown God that’s what I call it f like you can’t get away from that game that game is engraved into my memory forever which we would have won that we would have got swept in the playoffs God damn it uh you know with the way that the season went very hot team at the start if this was reversed let’s say you know we were very cold at the start right we were let’s say like a St Louis situation right where we’re dead last we crawled our way back up towards the end of the season and we just missed it same situation right we just missed it do you think some of these rankings would change if it was the season went differently I would say so a lot of the guys that were going off like obviously we had a good season and it just the slow progression downward is always going to hurt your grade at the end of the season but if you’re starting bad and slowly progressing up obviously if he’s AR at a f and you make your way up to an a you’re G to have a lot better looks than what everyone is originally saying about you even if you don’t have the point production or everything like that you’re showing that you have the quality you have the comp you have to compete it’s gonna make you look better yeah kind the opposite of what St Louis did unfortunately Craig buuy we would love to have you as a head coach but Derrick lone is still taking over that spots for now for now we’re not kicking him out it’s like he’s still just there we’ll see we’ll see Carlo hope so at least but Derek I think we can uh we can wrap it up from here on know we both got some stuff that we got to do today so I got go see the mommies yeah let’s go ahead and uh close it out with uh some final thoughts go ahead buddy final thoughts let’s go Red Wings playoffs are still in a session right now so enjoy watching the the murders that go on during that time I enjoy it especially when trouba goes flying through the air into the boards like a choo choo train that was great that hit oh my if you even want to call it head I think he just accidentally kicked him in the head on his way probably Monday probably Tuesday maybe Wednesday even I know the AHL they do a weird scheduling with their playoff system so um canes still have a chance do me right on my bracket please that would be nice I honestly don’t care who wins uh the Leafs are a laughing stock the Suns you’re also a laughing stock um yeah Steve arisman I would not want to be you this summer unless like Derrik said you’re gonna pay me the same amount as you get paid but then I probably still W want to do it because I have no hair LOF but yeah let’s go Red Wings let’s go Grand Rapids Griffins make the cup run and yeah
