GRF Golf Coach George expands upon the loading of his hips in the golf swing ( watch part 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3flLtHrK6B0 ) to then move onto release work. Huge thanks to Joe for letting us share his GRF Golf lesson experience with George.

so what we need to do is develop feedback loops in all sorts of different areas so that you can then go and self-regulate and you don’t need to go for a lesson every month or whatever you go for a lesson once a year maybe and then you get an elevated skill set and awareness and then you go and use that to develop your game there will be absolutely little light bulb moments and little moments where you’re like oh that was so different and rounds where you’re like oh it felt so easy or something like this but that is then not it in the same way as if you have a great game ofb football and you’re man of the match and you played unbelievable you got two assists and a and a free kick or whatever that’s gone in the top bins and keeper had no chance that is not then it it you are still going to develop it and and you’re going to have off days and you’re going to have on days and you know this is again the thing with golf is like it’s almost like there’s some kind of secret that all the pro just keeping really harush hush don’t know you mustn’t give all the secrets away in one go you got to get them back and it’s like there is no there are no secrets there’s just awareness and there’s movement and there’s delivery of Bat on Ball to create a golf shot yeah and we need to sort of reverse engineer it we need to recognize a ball flight recognize how the club is interacted with the ball to achieve that ball flight and that’s just Newtonian physics and then start to recognize how that CL is moving and what moves the club well the hands because that’s the only connection we have with the club Y what moves the hands your yeah what moves the arms shoulders probably and what moves the shoulders what was yeah and and it goes all the way so there is a chain from there to there in fact to there so it starts with the ground Y and then our interaction with the ground and then our body our B’s response want to explore the rotating that way as you loading that right H in fact rotating that way is what’s helping load your right here so just back on the board actually just do a one two three on the board yeah and hold the three one two three yes okay that timing is fantastic yeah because what you’re doing is one and then throwing it up on two but then very quickly Dro it into that three yeah so the 1 two 3 is not like a metronomic one 2 3 yeah think of it more as like a one 2 three yeah so you’re you’re nice and assertive into that three brilliant it just started to labor a little bit here with the ball which is fine right like we said tightens things up let’s use that three so this swing length yeah is all to do with the timing of your three yeah so if you want a John Ram short back swing so job you’re almost immediately into three if you want the John daily big see it out the corner of your right eye one then you might be in your two for a lot longer well it’s not what you want it looking like it’s what you want to play but I’m just referencing length is phenomenal oh my God look at that for a golf shot and a finish as well yeah and then it labored a bit Yeah and then the arms had to get involved because it hadn’t loaded up its engine because if you’re going into three for longer what you need to be able to do is get out of it if we can get out of it real quick then then we can go into it for longer and longer if it’s if it’s a real if it takes us long time yeah relatively speaking if it takes us a long time to get out of it we’re going to we can’t go into it for that long so yeah let’s do that in fact what we’re going to do is stand on this mat with the slider under your lead foot so your right foot middle of the mat feet together and what we’re going to do is Slide the slider out towards these gray Chevrons here but what we’re going to do is we’re going to twist it in 45° is we don’t want a big step y that’s not what it’s about it’s more about internally rotating that right hip and loading it up and then you’re going to jump and you’re just going to land where you jumped so you’re not going to you’re not going to jump like this you’re just go straight up and land there so flex and internally rotate towards the gray that’s it yeah good and then jump great first eff see how it’s twisted a little bit yeah that’s showing you the external rot ation that lead side is using as you go up nice one what’s going to load this chain even more so that’s a really good start is go again and hold it there so can we do that with the heel off the ground so can we get a nice big gap yeah that’s a little bit of a gap but a bigger Gap there you go yeah see how that loads the whole propulsion thing and then bang you push yeah nice nice right you need a progression cuz you’re too good at this I just want you to do this first just get used to doing this that’s it so you’re just coming back to neutral and then when you feel comfortable as you’re going into that rotation you load the hip and pop it off it’s good stuff nice to kick that that hip going out yeah you don’t need to go so much down with the chest like this you’re actually just rotating away with the chest there will be a bit Yeah there there’ll be a bit of forward flection but yeah yeah yeah good let’s just play a few shots just normal not with that exercise one two three and then you’re in nice what a finish Joe so much better so much better and now it’s telling me we absolutely need to do some release work when we start to make some sort of sequencing changes and the club is being delivered a lot later A push is a really good thing to see yeah and it kind of shows us that you’ve been using flexion and extension of the wrists this motion to square your Club head you’ve been throwing the club head early yeah early release everyone does it I’m exactly the same so if you just hold your Club out like that and then keep your grip and I’m just going to roll your hands around keep your grip nice and firm loosen off the arms cuz I’m just yeah it’s this we’re going to look at introducing a bit more of this because like I said that would be low and right but you now just turn into your finish so let your shoulders turn turn turn let that let the hands go that way as well look at that look the club face now yeah so what we’re going to do here see if we can recognize some rotation about the Sha so some of that yeah motion whilst it’s still lagged behind this lever y right because everyone can do that while it’s passing the hands but that’s your smothered pull hook but people struggle to recognize it while it’s still lagged behind the hand so almost like you are hitting the toe into the ground yeah really it will just be the Leading Edge good nice rotation of the face very good but let’s keep the handle butt end moving forward as we get there so it’s going to be more like this it’ll be more of a Shar Lan so the handle is moving forwards as you’re rotating the face that’s really good superb Joe nice and hold it there brilliant now keep this shaft exactly where it is so that doesn’t move you shuffle your feet that’s it and now tiny little swing back and through taking a divot with what feels like the toe of the club yeah good nice yes that was it get the toe rotating awesome right get a ball in there quick take your setup and look at that for a golf shot lovely the sound of it is very different wasn’t it more optimally compressed all nice had a bit of drawer on it same again ohce look at that finish got good distance into wind as well this is actually a fairly strong wind now we’re out here we can feel it can’t we yeah absolutely wonderful that one deserves a round of applause because that was really really good it’s so strange how your BTS going that way because the club’s working around you but so you would think it to do that it’s following you yeah you’re leading this golf club yeah that’s it and kind of where you go it tends to follow yeah obviously at some points you’re going to oppose it like when you do Let It Go you’re then actually opening up to the right and it’s going there like I explained with the throwing of the ball yeah you’re going that way club’s going that way but yeah arms are switching off more and more this is great to see you get into lovely longer more extended finish look at that madness madness feel good yeah feels real good excellent oh the strike on it as well so much better yeah hear that switch and look where this golf club’s going to I mean just when you watch this back Joe I’m talking to Future Joe now I’m talking to you from the past when you watch this back look at the finishes you’re making now and then rewind to the very beginning and you’ll see the old Tommy Fleetwood and now there’s still a bit of tension there but it’s so much more extended and around the neck more rather than in front of your face it’s behind your head now yeah you know you [Music]
