Webb Simpson explains current relationship with Rory McIlroy after policy board return rejection
yeah you know it’s been uh interesting few weeks in the sense of you know there’s a lot of moving parts right now with the PGA Tour um you guys are well aware of all that’s going on in the game of golf and I think you know a year and a half into being a board member um there’s been so many changes in different facets of the PJ tour and of the game of golf and so um I think we’re always looking on the board what can we do to make the PJ tour better how can we make the game of golf better how can give our members a better place to play and and better opportunities um and you know I think the sentiment was Rory maroy being the global superstar that he is and the strong voice that he has in the game of golf um you know it’d be great to get him involved more um and so you know what capacity is he going to get involved more I think you know three weeks ago we just wanted him more involved um and I think I’ve seen support from the guys on wanting him more involved and helping and he kind of you know all he has said to me is I just want to help if you guys want me to help um and so we’re thankful that he wants to help he has like I said an important voice and I think he’s already made a positive impact the last week um in his in his role and so I am remaining in my seat on the board um I intend to carry out my my full term of three years um and I think all of us are in agreement that we want to work well together we want to make the PJ tour better and we’re in a crucial time we were in a crucial time before SSG became uh an investor and we’re now in another crucial time uh trying to figure out you know what will make the PJ tour better not for this year or next year but for 50 years C can I follow up on that just to get more nuts and bolts was that a conversation that you and um Rory and I have been friends for a long time I played against him in the Walker Cup in 2007 and so he and I have talked all things golf uh wine parenting uh and so he and I talk on a fairly regular basis and um you know Rory is he’s always had great ideas of how do we move forward how do we um get the the love and attention from fans back from you know where we had it maybe two years ago um how do we grow our business I mean all all things related to the PJ tour and so I think those conversations just led to a thought of wanting him to be not necessarily in every conversation but in more conversations and I think the the players on the board were very supportive of him being more involved and in those conversations I think they all see the vital role he plays not only on the PJ tour but he’s a DP World Tour member and there’s such an important piece of the future of you know the game of golf in our tour um and so his perspective is tremendous to us he’s a global player always has been um and so I just think his his views are important and the other guys feel the same and you know we just we kind of had to figure out okay where is his place how how can we um you know how can we honor uh our role as board members and our commitment to the tour but also bring bringing a guy at least to to voice his ideas and just see how he can help us and he’s been great he just wants to help at the end of the day um Wanted wanted Not to cause any any drama or big stories just at the end of the day just wants to help and he he said that yesterday you know we had a great lunch uh just talking about how this can all work for the good of the tour and I think we’re all on the same page with that

All these golfers who think they are businessmen…clueless fools…they think playing all pro events in the US is global golf
Tiger told Simpson he's not allowed to let Rory in
At least they admit they are clueless about future strategy…Woods and Rory will do whats best for them
Sick of the soap opera stuff. Just play golf.
