Rory McIlroy shoots 5-under 65 to win | Round 4 highlights | Wells Fargo Championship | 2024

In the final round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship, Xander Schauffele turned in a 5-under 65, getting him to 17-under for the tournament to claim his 26th victory of his PGA TOUR career by five strokes.

The PGA TOUR heads to Charlotte, North Carolina this week for the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club – site of the 2017 PGA Championship and 2022 Presidents Cup. This is the sixth signature event of the season, which features an elite field of 69 players. Rory McIlroy returns this week to a place where he’s had plenty of success. He’s claimed three victories here (2010, 2015 and 2021), as well as five top-10s. He enters this week with momentum after winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry two weeks ago. Wyndham Clark will also tee it up as he looks to become the first player to win back-to-back here. This was Clark’s first win on TOUR, and he has claimed two more titles since that victory – including the U.S. Open. Xander Schauffele will also be in Charlotte this week as he hopes to secure his first win. He finished second here in 2023 and claimed T25 or better in 10 of 11 events this season. Others to look out for are Max Homa, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood.

assert your dominance once again over Quail Hollow uh I’m not sure you know there that was a big um a big moment on seven uh I three putted Xander made an eagle and then you know Xander was inside me on it I knew I really needed to hold that putt just to try to to stay um or keep up with him and then you know he missed his I birdied nine and then I just went on a run that for whatever reason I I I’m able to go on at this golf course but um you know Quil Hollow um Charlotte in general has been really good to me uh over my career and you know this is just another great day to um you know to sort of odd to to all the rest of them I’m not sure a single fan has left here they were chanting your name coming up 18 can you just talk about the home field advantage that you have here in Charlotte yeah um I feel like these people have sort of watched me grow up you know from when in here as a 20-year-old uh to you know being the right B the age of 35 now um you know they’ve they’ve sort of seen my progression throughout my career and you know I’ve been lucky enough to win here four times and yeah the support that I get here is absolutely amazing it’s it’s one of my favorite stops of the year and uh can’t wait to keep coming back and see how many I can get the last time you won a major was at the venue we head to next week you had won the week before as well describe your confidence level right now and the way you’re approaching the game and physically how good your game feels yeah um you know I really got some confidence from New Orleans winning with Shen uh and then yeah coming into this week you know at a golf course that I’m comfortable at um my golf swing feels a lot more comfortable than it has done so um going to a venue next week where I’ve won um it feels like the stars are aligning a little bit but you know I’ve got a lot of a lot of golf to to play and a lot of great players to to try to beat next week but um you know going into the next major of the Year feeling really good about myself lastly you’re wearing your Mother’s Day pink you had some beautiful words that you shared with us yesterday about your mom your dad is a beloved figure in the golf world and you said your mom doesn’t get enough credit so Now’s the Time to brag about her the impact that she’s made on your career yeah um yeah my mom’s amazing you know my you know I think most people know my dad uh but my Mom Rosie is like the the sort of rock or the gel that holds our family together she always has been and uh I said this last night I uh I’m probably a lot more like my dad than than I am my mom but I wish I was a little more like my mom at times so um if you’re watching Mom happy Mother’s Day uh can’t wait to see you tomorrow and uh yeah I’m yeah I’m excited to to get
