got 20 minutes plus one lap to get it done and you will be your Champion 2024 well for Jason Anderson it’s been a very long time since he has won a race but tonight is one of those nights where if he gets the start he’s not going to get a big fight from a guy like jet Lawrence he’s not going to get a fight from Cooper Webb because he’s got a Naggy injury Eli Tomac not even here if he gets a hole shot he he’s got to get a better start than he did in that heat race but this is a night where a win is in the cards and this is when you got to step up and let’s not forget there is a navat Lawrence on the line here and last time we saw him on track he crossed the Checkers in that second position what a way to finish the season for him you know he wants another one here tonight I like this guy number 51 Justin Baron the momentum he’s had the last few weeks for that Red Bull troil design gas gas machine he wrote Road really strong in his heat race maybe he gets the win tonight and for Adam SE the clock’s about to run out on your career he’s going into retirement once known as one of the hottest prospects in the history of this sport injuries robbed him of his potential but he also became one of the most likable characters in this sport as well we wish him well whatever he chooses to do after racing but he’s got one more race to do and it is this the 450 Main Event the Monster Energy Super clost Final for 2024 jet Lawrence needs only a 17th Place finish there there he is to wrap up the title he won the Motocross championship in his 450 debut the super motocross championship in his 450 debut can he do it in Supercross here we go Justin Cooper leads the mid Chase ston on the inside going to steal the whole shot just like the heat race Justin Cooper and looks like Chase is going to try to go up the inside but Justin o that was pretty close Justin did a good did a great job at closing him off and we got uh a Lawrence in third but it’s not jet it’s his older brother Hunter and seon seeing if he can clear Cooper and he does and Cooper web is right there battling it out with Hunter Lawrence Cooper web tries to get up the inside of those guys and let’s see and it looks like jet Lawrence is a couple position but Chase xon we’ve been waiting for this all year long at least for a while now he’s starting to find that form and he’s got a little Gap Breaky already yeah this guy’s going to check out sneaking suspicion is what’s going to happen here hoer web getting by the on the inside getting by Hunter Lawrence that’s going to be interesting because Now Jet’s going to have to get by Coupe C riding with the ligament damage in his thumb needs to go into surgery but he out here gutting it out there’s jet trying to pass his brother Hunter yeah that what jet did right there kind of tells you all you need to know he ain’t going to push yeah he’s not going to push it Hunter made a pass back on Jason good great battle here Anderson and GRE on the 21 battling out with Hunter Lawrence oh bar Malcolm Stewart there’s the fever up the inside Anderson runs him high and takes him down man he used up all the track right there and you can say that he used up what are you saying he gave him the business he did he come in there the momentum used up all of the track used uh Hunter Lawrence as a burn if you will I feel like Hunter had to kind of know that was coming I mean Jason been running it in on him and he’s Ultra aggressive but yeah well his uh uh jet had a front row seat for that as he was right behind him be interesting to see what happens here with uh with with jet how he approaches possible pass I mean look at that run from J and there it is and Hunter kind of stays in it yeah Hunter start losing the front end a little bit but that was all cost because the way Jason came in and n i mean Jason helped out ched has gotten around Anderson just like that and now we have Cooper web and Jet Lawrence the only two Riders mathematically in this title together on the racetrack oh what happened to Jet just slowed down oh he had a save like could save that’s talent right there he watched the front end going off the face of that double if we get a replay but that was close really close he gave up two spots Anderson and Bara now by the way oh we have the replay here what happened to the 18 yeah so he goes in and you can tell he’s already looking back for the repay um on Jason Anderson watch his front end he lose it lose it and he goes off that was really close really good balance to save it also he could have been head on in the other lane yeah if you probably had from the back angle that that was a really close but those are the moments you need any kind of Championship you need some kind of luck and I think what this is going to do for jet probably just settle him down cuz I don’t know how he got around um Jason but the way he was looking back I think he was thinking some retaliation but now you’ll probably see him and R this thing out and maybe not go even back after Anderson at this point n no reason to really I mean they these guys might back up to him later on in the race and as things start to settle down still a lot of uh it’s a lot of stuff happening right here early on this is so early into the race and it’ll it’ll settle down by the way what web is doing by running second if Jet doesn’t finish this race web would still need to finish first or second to score enough points to win the title so credit to the wounded former champion in this series for gutting it out and trying to do what he needs to do actually now his teammate Justin Cooper has slipped by sure if they need those points Cooper will give him back you know who’s probably stressing more than anyone is jet Lawrence’s mechanic right now you think about everything that’s going on all these parts and pieces moving around Kristen D CH graduate of the pro SMX Tech program looking for the title let here what jet had to say about this whole journey as an athlete it’s always pretty hot to kind of reflect and look at of of what you’ve done so far just because each week each day we’re always looking to be better than the previous day before so very rarely I mean I think for me I always look back as after a championship you always look back and kind of look look on the year I mean especially like last year but um during the season it’s always so hard cuz once we get done with this Championship you always switching back straight into Outdoors so you never really get to stop and actually think and it’s been it’s been something I’ve been trying to work on just kind of making sure it goes slow almost and uh and appreciate the small things that we have accomplished and even the things that we’ve kind of sucked at this year we learn you got to kind of appreciate both sides of things and but yeah it’s it’s definitely a learning thing talking to the Hond to the team there at Honda HRC Jet’s thoughts there and his feelings would seem to be shared by every single one of the person Al but while they made it clear that the focus of course is still on this race here tonight they said because of that points buffer that they came in with their 20 point gap that they were all able to kind of just slow the day down a little bit and James and Ricky Ricky especially you’ve spoken to me a lot of times here about how you wish you could go back and kind of live in these moments a little bit more and jets hopefully getting to do that yeah it’s that it doubt he is OH Anderson has caught web and this would be the breaking point cuz again if jet has a problem web’s not going to be able to score enough points to win the title anyway he would need to get the second but it’s a teammate in front of him but it is not a teammate behind him and we’ve already seen what Anderson is willing to do to make passes and by the way that’d be for the podium yeah absolutely and Jason knows Cooper is wounded and I don’t know how their relationship is but yeah I don’t know how the the fight from Cooper if jet continues as this race goes on and he keeps seeing jet in that spot probably going to be hard for him to keep that pace Up and Hold Jason off and the way he’s way he’s been riding the last couple weeks I’d suspect he’s probably going to get around them and keep moving forward hopefully go after Justin Cooper right I think that as the race goes on just you know who hand starts to fatigue and it’s hard for him to hold on and that’s probably why he’s starting to back up towards Jason Anderson and also Jason’s riding really well oh yeah looking for three straight podiums down the year Anderson and the Monster Energy Kawasaki jet Lawrence if he wins this going to join you James the only rer to have ever won every title that’s 250 East 2 50 West 250 Outdoors 450 outdoors motocross and 450 Supercross it’ be seven straight championships that he’s competed for that he’ll have won yeah well he still got to get that Club Championship and I got that at Alworth over there so I still got him covered on the golf golf course but you’re will to take if he wants to take the challenge though you’re cool with it he don’t want that action okay yeah but yeah he’s got another steart to worry about and that’s my brother yeah um Malcolm’s riding good after that heat race going down it’s good to see him bounce back and yeah Jet’s doing exactly what he needs to do at this point if he if he feels comfortable Ricky I think he’s probably having fun um just out there riding this one just cruising and even if Malcolm gets up probably let him go by there’s no there’s no uh reward in trying to hold that Beast off behind him and Malcolm’s trying to move forward as well I like what I see from Malcolm and um he’s he’s had some really good rides riding well the last couple weeks for sure look at jet yeah he just cruising and he’s not going to put up a fight and this is I think he’s went he’s he’s reverted to the big picture and it’s chaotic there at the beginning and real battle going on here mail it on in yeah ain’t nothing wrong with that he’s he’s he’s earned this right to do exactly what he’s doing so as we were watching on the top screen Cooper was going backwards and then all of a sudden he he starts moving forward but that’s Cooper web just when you think the guy’s down the guy just has fight and all the contenders that we talked about coming in this season he was probably on the lower tier of that program of guys that we can think that he possibly had a chance to win and what he’s done this year whether he wins his championship or not is this guy’s gotten better and you can’t say enough about that I mean the way he is switching back to this monster Yamaha Star racing team hoer is here to stay and it’s great to watch yeah you really got to thank him he made it interesting he gave jet Lawrence all it can handle we’ll always wonder he tried to diminish the injury and not use it as an excuse but he’s a gritty type you get him down tied in points to four to go I think we were all wondering what Cooper was going to have up his sleeve wasn’t able to show it to us he explained the thumb injury yesterday in the press conference yeah it was tough you know I think at the time um you know usually like for me pain isn’t it’s temporary right um so I felt like I did a really good job I didn’t feel like it hindered me whatsoever um but like the last race at Philly I think when I got together with Jason um it finally finished it off so um the last weekend was tough but you know we’re we healed all week I was able to take the whole week off and uh I feel better you know I feel like it’ll it’ll come around for this one so I mean it’s it’s part of racing right I think we’re all banged up at certain points during the season and um you know there’s that’s racing um I’ve raced with plenty of injuries before and been able to win so I don’t think it hindered me at all um definitely tested the mental um but hey that’s that’s part of it halfway through this race visit Maverick where Monster energy drinks are available now I mean you folks at home think about trying to ride one of these motorcycles handle these bumps they torn ligament in your thumb oh these guys are are unbelievable athletes how they’re able to muscle these 225lb motorcycles around these bites are incredibly powerful and what a lot of people don’t see is during the week and how many laps that they have to do when they’re when they’re healthy in the risk that they take and uh they’re they’re tough digging deep to hold off Anderson for the podium here let’s check in with Adam C and culo his final race from his career he’s all sorts of banged up but still want to come out and race it out he’s laboring it looks a bit here but 13th Place and this will be the end of his pro career yeah but I I bet Adam still enjoying it I mean it’s been a pleasure to watch him and at this point in the career yeah I think he’s smart enough to know like this I mean this is the end and out of all the I think he he will appreciate it he can figure out how to enjoy this and you know talk about when he has kids and you know doing whatever else in his life so nice to see Adam out here still fighting pretty wild after the heat race he pulled over in the first turn crowd started saluting him he threw his goggles into the stands for ninth in a Heat standing ovation for him it’s going to be a standing ovation for this guy soon this is going to be this going to be a good race for Chase and what I mean by that is finish strong these are the defending Supercross Champions and to lose this Championship not defend it but going in the Pro Motocross Championship something to build on and challenge jet Lawrence so I’m looking forward to that will I really think he’s going to be strong here in the summer yeah absolutely Ricky and speaking to chase earlier on today I haven’t seen him in this in the mood that he was in earlier all season long he was all smiles this was after the fastest qualifier which he said himself said I can’t believe this is the first one I’ve got all year but he talked about getting that speed back he said he’s not 100% where he thought he could be but he talked about getting it back and just like gr honesty that went ACR his fa across his face just thinking about that just made me think exactly what you’re saying rck he knew that he could put it to Jet he knows that that challenge is end to finish the season like that and know that he’s in that position um probably a relief as well as excitement for what’s to come looks like he’s on Rails really smooth and ch we were talking about it a little bit off there just probably the bike and a steel chassis working well yeah no I think with Chase this is one of the first times on a dry track I mean I know Jet’s going after the Championship but as you talk about moving forward to the Motocross he been able to beat jet no matter what the scenario is I think Chase is probably going to be his biggest competition one of them and even with this guy Justin coer dude this guy’s flying yeah he’s he he is he’s the fastest Rider on the track 2.7 seconds down yeah man I we were talking about Chase but now he’s starting to come and there was a point in this season where Justin Cooper was starting to find that that speed you know he was being your fastest qualifying we were kind of waiting for him to break out and get that Podium kind of like what jet Brothers um did Hunter and then he just kind of went the the wrong way I don’t know if there were some bad starts or crashes but Justin Cooper still can win this race here um tonight yeah a lot of racing left with six laps or 6 minutes plus one lap and then getting into lapers as well this would be first career Podium on a 450 for Cooper so that’s a career best also tying a career best for this man Mitchell oldenberg now out of Texas originally out of Minnesota in ninth place right now for the MCR that’s Moto concept racing smart top Honda team right behind Dylan FIS well this is um you know with with the unfortunate uh injuries that we’ve had with fighers gives these guys like Mitchell odberg an opportunity to put in some good finishes and get some maybe personal best for him yeah that’s something you said there’s an opportunity and a door open for everyone in a finale and and that’s the thing it’s like it’s so easy to just sit here and think like ah well there’s not much on the line for anyone else other than other than the championship guys but that’s that’s not necessarily true yeah and I think the with the new playoff I mean these guys are trying to build those points for that keeps all these guys in here racing especially for these types of guys and even for guys that’s out like a Eli toac to BU able to try to heal up and get back CU they know that road leads down to Las Vegas and so every point every position matters and it’s cool to watch U minell out here doing his thing in ninth place they want to have that higher seed in that uh playoffs yeah so next playoffs coming September 7th as we go to Jet Lawrence now there’s his mechanic he looks pretty car nervous I’m going to tell you I can’t wait for the SMX playoffs uh the reason that is is because of how awesome it was last year and the points and how the breakdown is and double points and you know what the what’s the strategy going to be for these guys now knowing uh what they learned from last year it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch I’m excited for that yeah absolutely I mean I think everybody’ be better prepared on even how you you know run your training program throughout the year it’s a little bit longer and you know again normally have to end it out do guys are starting to talk about 2025 contracts but this year they know how much money on the line in Pride to win that championship and it goes down in Las Vegas jet Lawrence again trying to win his seventh straight title they don’t publish the numbers but it’s expected that a Supercross Championship pays somewhere around a million to a million and a half dollars in bonus money let’s go to Jason Thomas well Christian have you ever been so nervous about a motorcycle holding together for a few more minutes and also was there a strategy going in where he would just just kind of lay up and and put in the kind of ride he’s doing uh trying not to you know have any nerves try to do the day as my normal weekend goes so but strategy wise I mean if the race is there take it if not play it safe that’s kind of you know at least my thought on it good luck to the rest of the way thank you very much good job Christian we go back to Daytona where they almost didn’t get the wheel cover off they tried to Shield the tire from the mud and that was almost a disaster there yeah so he’s performed his job now look at this we hear that Hunter Lawrence a lap down obviously not happy with Jason Anderson who knocked him down early in this race let’s watch this green and red yeah he’s slowing down he’s looking over oh wow oh yep J Bon’s already calling them from AMA that’s right all they going to the principal’s office here after the race probably need to get a camera crew down there going back to Jet one and talked about it at the top of the show and just as resiliency is what has impressed me and and the learning lessons rarely did he make the same mistake twice and it’s so hard to do at a rookie I mean James it took us three years till we got our first premier Super Cross Championship uh both of us and it uh for jet to do what he’s been able to do and and you think about the bad races that he had and then when he was in a situation where he had to perform he went did it just when people thought oh no watch this this is going to be a rookie flaw and he won’t uh he won’t rise up he did he answered the critics every single time let’s get a little more from Jason Thomas on that Hunter Lawrence Jason Anderson dust up JT well it’s obviously escalating a little bit and you think about this all started back in Nashville Jason Anderson got into the side of Hunter Lawrence knocked him down Hunter was not thrilled about that so this is just continuation now that’s going to certainly draw them to the principal’s office as you mentioned but this has been an ongoing deal this isn’t a one-time thing here so we’ll see how that transitions into Pro Motocross but those two are uh still not quite the Rivalry well at some point they’re going to have to uh they’re going to have to make amends because you don’t want to get into the back and forth game I think uh you know a lot of us have been in that situation and really no one’s no one’s a winner in that scenario so uh I think it’s best to uh air your Grievances and and get over it and move on down the road yeah especially who depends on who you who you’re fighting with you can’t hit him and run too many times and you know for sure it’s just only going to get continue right uh with those guys and I think Johnny O probably let him know and the same thing he’s got a bunch of great people but yeah back to what you were saying about jet I was thinking about some of the races this year where it looked like other guys are starting to find their form and you know you go out to anaha one he went out and dominated then he had those few races then it was starting to back up and then it came to Daytona Eli was starting to go out he went out and won that but you go back to I believe it was Nashville um where you know things were coming back and where Cooper him and Cooper was TI of and he would not won it and what those last three races prior to this is why he’s able to be down in seventh place and and what he was able to do was to go out and step up and like you said when he needed to do it he did it and this kids for reals and those guys going to have to deal with him for years to come well they’ve showed a lot of respect down the stretch especially web pretty salty type but he said overall he’s like all I can say is he’s good and even when you talk to web’s team they no disrespect to the skills of the 18 how about um how about Justin Cooper okay another rookie know going off off course here but uh yeah Hunter Lawrence get his Podium and then now you got uh Justin Cooper on the cusp of getting his first premier class Podium it’s a heck of a ride definitely definitely even give another shout out to chase Exon I mean you know we’ve been talking about these guys but for sure with him I think out of all the guys this is probably the best thing for us fans to see this guy back up front and the way he did it kind of like what we saw in that 250 class withy Degan you know hasn’t been the fastest qualifier all year and considering the way how that was a norm every time Chase was out on the track he would be but the final lap here if he can hold this thing off Jason then I think it’s going to um do a lot for him moving into Pro motor sure it is oh yeah second win of the year for ston but the first one was a mud race in San Francisco this is a dry track he was the fastest Rider in qualifying crush the heat is the champ back well he’s got to give the number one plate back but the speed is back and as you mentioned Pro Motocross Championship begins Southern California two Saturdays from now we’ll have one weekend off and then we’re racing again behind him Justin Cooper looking for second this is it chase ston ends the year on top in Utah here’s Cooper web gritty as always proud as always takes a Podium even riding with the injury did everything he could to try to deny jet Lawrence they all tried they all threw everything they had at the rookie they knew how good he would be after the perfect season in promoto Cross after the SMX world championship last year couldn’t catch anyone off guard couldn’t catch him sleeping they threw what they had at him and he’s going to conquer the best in the world jet Lawrence is headed home the 2024 Supercross Champion is jet Lawrence congrats kid incredible Ry you think about the story oh uh there we go no surprise there words between Hunter Lawrence and uh Hunter I mean Anderson had caught web was going for the podium that cost him a shot at that I don’t think that’ll be the last time they speak yeah and that possibly could have caused Jason fourth the points too cuz he tied up with Eli um overall so oh wow yeah yeah yeah Eli not here with a thumb injury of his own but here it is another championship celebration for jet what an incredible journey to get to to where that where he is now and and what that story is like the sacrifice that his family made man’s out yeah coming from Australia moving to Europe really obscure they were not pegged as anyone as the next big thing in the sport selling everything to get to Europe right and then coming over here getting the chance to come over here and then here he is yes and her s through Europe they had a chance to come to America a little bit earlier start making money his dad Darren Felt they could learn more in Europe the Hard Scrabble existence there and look at this congratulations from last year’s Champion Chase ston there it is and just to think about you know Hunter was the guy he was the one that everyone wanted and Jet was like you know just all right we’ll take package deal yeah take him but congratulations and honestly one of the greatest scouting jobs ever you got to credit their agent Lucas Myrtle who was on this early shopped him the old Geico Honda team picked him up I remember they said we signed a kid who we’ve never met or never watch ride and there is Lucas Myrtle the old gu goonda team said we’ve never met him or watched him ride we signed him to a 5-year deal and what it has resulted now another championship for Honda four straight 450 titles for that team [Music]
