Clare kickstarted their Munster Senior Hurling challenge after a second-half turnaround secured their first ever championship victory in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, beating Cork 3-26 to 3-24.
Trailing by 0-14 to 0-12 at the break, Brian Lohan’s side were blitzed by a 1-03 Cork surge on the restart as an immediate Patrick Horgan goal was bolstered by points for Seamus Harnedy, Declan Dalton and a Horgan ’65 after Shane Barrett’s shot was deflected at 1-17 to 0-13 by only the 38th minute.
Things appeared bleak for the Banner, especially after letting slip a nine-point cushion to Limerick last time out. However, they dug deep and were ignited by an excellent passing move involving John Conlon and Shane O’Donnell who centred to Mark Rodgers to find the net in the 43rd minute.
it really is a massive match for these two teams having lost their first match for the winner they’ll be back in all Ireland contention for the loser they’ll face an impossible task it seems n oi one of the six changes made from last week down into the corner to another one Brian Hayes here getting there ahead of Adam Hogan ha against Hogan onto it comes Sheamus hardn trying to make an angle for himself harded hitting it and hared scoring bit like old times a man who starred for cork back in 2013 when the reach the all Ireland only to be beaten by CLA that year and he gets a point here to make it four points a piece level for the second time and from being into the attack they’re suddenly having to defend at the other end and that was n o carrying it out over the sideline line ball to CLA few Elementary mistakes made Mark Rogers ready to take the sideline cut young hler of the year last year cutting it in well it flies through the air and more importantly it flies between the uprights and CLA are in front again fabulous sideline cut that time by Mark Rogers and CLA lead as a result by six points to five n oi Rogers is after him duin’s after him he’s made a lot of ground feeding It Forward there for Shane Barrett Barrett will have to sum up the situation he’s in right now trying to cut inside and he wins a free and that was very good work by cork they’re on an Advantage Horan deciding not to take the advantage and sweeping it over his right shoulder and over the crossbar and Patrick hgan gets his first point from open play and is third of the game it’s a one-point match shamie harned from deep in his own half of the field oh that’s a bad one from harned straight to mcineri back once again with interest flying up and over the crossbar Point by David M Ernie a mistake by Sheamus harn and CLA back leading again here by the backs of the river Lee inside there towards Brian Hayes Hayes to the other man of the red helmet who’s Alan Connelly and Conelly puts it over the crossbar when there was a goal there for the taking the teams level again this was where he was fed by Brian Hayes and that’s where the goal should have resulted blocked down brilliantly there by Connor clear but it might fall here for Patrick Oran Oran try to come inside here still an opportunity for Hogan blocked brilliant save by ever willan way out to the wings magnificent piece of goalkeeping by the goalkeeper from Fel n oi as far as Dalton again hitting this one it’s a huge one it’s two in a row by Dean Dalton three and all in the game and cork lead by two points approaching halftime [Applause] two between them coming forward is kle Malone helped out here and that shot that little snapshot there by Mark Rogers carries the whole way but a start at the second half only seconds into it and he’s got his fourth Point already and trims the lead to just one Dean Dalton from the cork Puck out sending it in there towards Alan Connelly it breaks for Horan Patrick Horan makes some start in the second half it’s G Over The Line in his 14th championship match playing against CLA Patrick Horgan has come up trumps yet again and here’s how it came about flicking it in and getting his 25th ever Championship goal that’s a goal and four for the 35y old and cork lead 114 to 13 points kieron Joyce trying to get away from the attentions of David fitzer dles to Shane Barrett Barrett coming through looking for another one and missing the target this time it was a glorious opportunity brilliant run through the center here by the man from BL looking to finish it must have got a deflection but it’s gone for the 65 and Patrick Horan is ready to step up and put it over the crossbar a goal in five now by Patrick Morgan conin who used play in the forwards feeding it inside this time to Shane o’ Donal CLA looking for something special o’donell on for Rogers and Rogers finishes goal at four for Mark Rogers Cork’s lack of certainty punished emphatically by CLA who worked it into Shan o’ Donal onto Rogers who cracked home his fifth Championship goal and now it’s a three-point game in an absolute Thriller here in Cork Claire have fought back and are coming back strongly aen McCarthy darting around a couple of challenges then K Malone triying to place it that’s brely done into Rogers beautifully done taking on his manners now leri it’s Rogers getting another one will he and he was hooped superbly back came s Dono to deny a their perfect opportunity but the referee has seen it as a foul and it’s got to be a free in I think on the 20 M line there’s a red card for sha odonahue big controversial call just watch it again this was the attack here involving Mark Rogers that was very good work by odono and then what happened next here is that and the referee says it merits a red card and cork are down to 14 players 120 to 120 Puck out taken down there towards Shane Barrett couldn’t hold on to it dear m Ryan has it then David Fitzgerald on here as far as de with Ryan he’s all the way through there’s nobody there it’s an overlap by CLA they could get another goal here and that’s in the back of the net by Shane o Donell his 14th ever cork cruy exposed at the bat that time carried in there by dear M Ryan fed to Shane oad and O’Donnell slaughtered it beautifully home past Patrick Collins who was beaten for the second time John codin setting up this one for Mark Rogers on it goes as far as David Fitzgerald so difficult to stop almost impossible to stop what can he do here he can score that’s what he can do appreciated by CLA fans as he’s made it 322 to 123 look at the power and the strength and Luke me was powerless to catch up with him and there was nothing Collins could do and that is David F Charles’s third ever goal in Championship hurling and Claire are firmly in the driving seat Brian Len on his hunkers Co have it back with Mark Coleman they need a a range of scores right now to try and stay in the match Alan Connelly on an Advantage trying to get away from his man who is Adam Hogan who’s been tying him up in there and Hogan might just get a card against him right now and he has yellow card free into cork there was no way that uh Adam Hogan was going to allow corks Al oh it’s in the back of the net Hogan’s done it again it’s a one score game once more this is it from the free CLA were ill prepared and there shouldn’t have been so with a man like Patrick Horan around so cork two scores be mind CLA have it again first touch for Paul Flanigan on as far as Mark Rogers a golden Four Points he scored so far he’s been ever the danger and that is a fine looking shot goalen five by Mark [Applause] Rogers all the way in it goes it bounces there for Dar Fitz gibon and Fitz gibon hits it in there’s a chance still and it’s in the back of the net walloped into the back of the net by Rob Downey deep into stoppage time 76 minutes in two points between them now it’s a case of how much time the referee is going to add on and it’s all over and Claire have come to beat cork in a most dramatic monster championship match final score cork three goals and 24 points CLA three goals and 26

Shame it wasn’t live on RTE
RTE are a disgrace .Clare were good but very loose in defense.
Ye showed the s*** Kilkenny match and couldnt show the good munster match. It's not our fault.Munster hurling is way better than anyone else.
Never a sending off in my book
Never a red.
how did cork get the red card for a clare man hurting himself trying to throw a shoulder after the play. the yellow should have gone to the clare man
Hoggy's goal was class
American here who was dragged to this match by a Cork supporter, very little understanding about the rules, still have no idea how it's the Cork player's fault that the Clare player tried to body check him after the play. When oblivious idiots like me know it was a wrong call, that's saying something
Jesus that second yellow was very harsh! Any fella that says it’s deserved is either from Clare or soft.
Bs red card fire the ref
