Jerry Hairston Jr. joins; Dodgers avoid Mets sweep | Dodgers Territory

Alanna Rizzo & Clint Pasillas welcome former Los Angeles Dodgers utility Jerry Hairston Jr. to the show. Alanna & Clint dive into LA’s emphatic win Sunday against the New York Mets. Will the W get them going? Plus, reaction to Walker Buehler needing another rehab start and middle relief issues haven’t gone away.

[Music] hello everybody and welcome to this Monday LIVE edition of Dodgers territory we are your hosts I am Alana Rizzo that is Clint pus Dodgers are off today before hitting the road and starting a nine game Road Trip and Clint uh before we get into the big ticket what is the biggest takeaway that you took from the most recent home stand it’s nice to get out of town that was my big takeaway just a team that’s that’s still kind of finding itself discovering itself but I’m not not worried I’m not scared about anything yet all right that’s a good segue into the big ticket so let’s get right to it now I think you could say Clint that perhaps yesterday’s game a 10 to nothing victory over the surging New York Mets could very well be a Get Right game is that fair to say yeah I mean I I would argue that you need to back it up with a few wins to open the road trip but it’s a damn good start to getting right because this team was all discombobulated uh to end that home stand but if they were getting right they did it in a hell of a way you got a showy Homer in there you got uh Tyler glas now shoving really really complete El feeling game as Dave Roberts also said for that Sunday mat yeah we’re going to get into Tyler glaz now in just a moment but prior to yesterday’s win the Dodgers had lost seven of their last 10 games so I think it’s a good thing that they absolutely had a laugher yesterday I think this team needs to laugh a bit because it’s been a bit of a struggle the first three and a half wins or excuse me weeks of the season but you talked about Sho Otani I’m not certain that we have enough adjectives Clint to continue to describe what a special man this guy is he had another Milestone home run yesterday in fact it broke the tie that he had with Hideki Matsui for the most home runs ever by a japanese-born player he had an 01 slider over the fence 423 feet and he now stands alone as far as the most home runs hit by a japanese-born player congratulations to show he Otani good to see for him yeah that was that was something special and what I love about seeing show hey homers is that when he gets him boy do you know they are gone you got the little the little toe tap the little dance and turn and that ball just kept on sailing halfway up uh The Pavilion there right field that was a majestic shot if you’re gonna break uh you know a record set by one of your childhood Heroes that is one hell of a way to do it yeah it was really cute what he said too after the ball game through his interpreter will iron that he was waiting to break Dave Roberts Home Run of seven home runs as a Dodger uh the most by a japanese-born player a lot of people forget that Dave Roberts is half Japanese so that was cute of show to say but it’s good to see him get that type of stuff and another thing that’s really great Clint is it appears that the fan that received the ball actually got the ball they got to keep it and it was authenticated it’s a good thing I guess we got that that whole you know at the stadium out of the way a couple weeks ago so we can have an actually like special home run this one probably has a lot more significance than his first home run as a Dodger or tying Matt suoi this one is is uh it’s setting a record for Japanese born players so I’ll be interested to see that ball coming up on maybe eBay uh offer up out here in LA or something like that but to me um you know congrats to him congrats whoever got the ball I’m sure it’s gonna be generational wealth for them or maybe not that far but they’re going to fetch a pretty penny for it it is going to be a pretty penny and Fabi and ardia you just saw that tweet there also said that not only did shoi get that home run but Andy pz picked up his first home run in a Dodger uniform so again we’re going to need some uh more consistency Clint and some more production from the bottom part of the order yeah I I had tweeted it yesterday during the uh during the game they’re actually scoring some runs which I hear is important to winning ball games but I said hey hey babe wake up the Dodgers are back it was very nice to see maybe you want to see them spread them out a little bit more eight I think it was eight runs there in one inning uh I’m not going to complain about scoring runs but you still need more consistent production from the Bott you need to see kind of Freddy Freeman continue to come out of it we’ll talk more Freddy Freeman a little bit later but you know good steps in the right direction you still want to see more but we’re we’re trending we’re trending and that’s what you want to see from this team right now and we started this whole big ticket segment with the fact that I’m certain that we’re running out of adjectives to describe Sho Otani but how about the fact that he continues to be Clint compared to Babe Ruth I mean that’s the kind of guy that we’re thinking okay that guy was a two-way player a billion years ago show Otani seems like a unicorn in our time obviously but through the first seven like look at this Hector Gomez had such a great tweet sh Otani has now 176 home runs in 725 Big League games right obviously this doesn’t count what he did in Japan Babe Ruth hit 176 home runs in his first 725 Major League career games you can’t make that up that that’s really cool you know this is where you know how do you not get romantic about baseball when things line up uh our pets heads are staying on instead of falling off but that’s awesome right there um the guy he gets most often compared to tying those numbers and we know well I don’t I don’t I don’t I don’t think he’s gonna challenge 714 but by the time Shi hangs up those cleats he’s gonna be pretty damn close to 600 or something putting it on record right now I’m saying sh hits 600 home runs because that’s what I decided to do 600 okay you just threw it out there you heard it here first right here on Dodgers territory on the on the foul territory Channel okay why not 600 how about Tyler glas now maybe if he had a bat in his hands he could shove too as far as that’s concerned because he is so effective on the hill eight scoreless Innings Clint he had 10 punch outs and he’s reminding me a little bit of the Clayton Kershaw a few years ago is Tyler glasnow now the stopper you got to have an ace that you know you can throw out there when you’re in these type of skids you got to have that stopper like you said Clayton Kershaw was that guy for the better part of a decade if this is why they traded for Tyler glas now he’s doing a good job of showing hey I I’m I’m going to be your dude for at least the next five years that I’m under contract hell of a game you get the first Dodger pitcher going into the eighth inning for what feels like a million years because pitchers don’t pitch deep into ball games anymore for the first time since July 15th of 2022 the last guy that did it the other stopper Clayton Kershaw that’s the last time a Dodger threw eight Innings became the first Dodger starter to go eight Innings since Kershaw did it in 2022 that’s almost two years agoy we want to see more of those right now and you also want to see more maybe print a few more Tyler glasnow on the bump because I like the numbers that you talked about in our pre-production meeting here the Dodgers breaking are very very good when Tyler glasnow is on the bump yeah I mean they’re five in one Clint when Tyler glas now takes the ball every fifth day in other times when he’s not on the hill Hill they’re eight and 10 Tyler glasnow four of his six regular season starts he’s given the Dodgers a quality start so this is the guy that they were hoping that they got but it was more it was more in my opinion supposed to be a compliment versus the Savior I mean this is right now he’s our Ace right he got the opening day nod he is the certifiable Ace Clayton Kershaw is on the Shelf Walker Beer’s on the Shelf Tyler glaz now is every bit of the ace that the Dodgers needed him to be but we’ve got to have more to complicate compliment him in the starting rotation um than than just him five and one is awesome but eight and 10 when he’s not on the hill not so awesome need a little help there and and we know this is a very very injured pitching staff we’ll talk more about that as we we dive into more relievers in a minute but uh the fans are going off a little bit hey would not be a show on the internet KT drun says yes he is a stopper talking about GL Tyler glasnow our friend Nando 390 says Dave Roberts pulls pitchers during no hitters in perfect games which we would not have a show on YouTube without a little bit of Dave Robert slander I liked on Twitter as well we also had uh Lizzy who had said I’m not saying Tyler glasnow saved us but I’m pretty sure Tyler gln yeah Lizzy bats I agree with you Tyler glasnow did save us Jose Garcia saying Andy starting to shine of course talking about Andy pis um yeah you’re you’re right we are going to talk about the fact um actually let’s get to it let’s get right to uh behind the scenes because we’re talking at length about Tyler glas now but we have a lot to talk about too as far as the the position players are concerned that’s where we’re kind of digging in deep there in the behind the scenes second right let me ask you this we talked about the fact that the other day we talked about it on Thursday during Dodgers territory that the bottom portion of the order needs to get it going that’s still the case four days later okay but Freddy Freeman hasn’t necessarily gotten it going either I have no doubt first ballot Hall of Famer I have no doubt that he will get it going but right now his 796 Ops it’s not terrible but it is on Pace to be tied for second worst in his career and the worst since 2012 so far this season one home run in 24 games what do you make of it well I mean getting two doubles uh on Sunday puts him back on the right track he has admitted that his swing is kind of in a funk he mentioned that that his hip is kind of pulling on him and it’s throwing him out of alignment so the best he can do is strike out or really poke aall towards the third base line but I think you saw uh particularly over Saturday and Sunday signs of Freddy Freeman coming out of it you know when this guy is on he’s going to be just shoving a ball over the shortstop Dodgers fans saw it for years against the team now you get to see it in LA uh you’re about to see I I’m I’ll do another prediction here I think you’re about to see a will fire hot streak from Freddy on this long road trip all right MVP season again for Freddy I mean if sh is going to have 600 career home runs by by the end of it all is is Freddy on his way to what is it his third MVP no well for for Freddy it’ll be uh I think he’ll be a top five guy this year um he’s always a top five guy you’re not going out on a limb there my friend that’s not a limb because it’s gonna be Mookie Betts or sh Otani you just how could it not be Mookie Betts or shotani but yeah Freddy was a big spark to uh that massive eight-run inning that this team needed to kind of get uh you know get off their ass and and get the happy Vibes going happy uh flight um for this uh for this road trip they’re about to start on Tuesday and not for nothing Freddy Freeman’s not the only big gun the only star that’s not hitting Aaron judge perhaps you’ve heard of him tied the American League home run record two seasons ago with Roger marris judge is hitting 183 so far as far as a batting average this year you think Aaron judge um I mean obviously Yankee fans as fickle as they are they want to run him out of the Bronx he’s going to be fine Paul goldshmid MVP in his own right he’s hitting 170 n for the St Louis Cardinals who are off to a horrific start they’re at the bottom of the Barrel in the NL Central Hosea Bru of the Beloved Houston Astros Dodgers fans love the Houston Astros he hasn’t hit a home run yet and we’re three and a half weeks into the season he is hitting 0.68 he is their starting first baseman in that Park that the Crawford boxes just scream for his swing he hasn’t hit a home run so it’s not just Freddy Freeman again it’s April 22nd there’s no need to go bananas I think Freddy Freeman’s gonna be just fine yeah it’s it’s funny how baseball works sometimes you have a slump in June sometimes you have it in April Dave Roberts did say about Freddy yeah I would quantify this I would qualify this as a slump nothing uh that’s you don’t hear about slump and Freddy Freeman in the same sentence very often um but again it’s not just him it’s it’s not located centrally in the number three hitter spot in the Dodgers lineup it is a little bit uh League wide because that’s just how baseball works but uh I’m I’m less worried about any of those guys I’m less worried about Freddy Freeman getting going and obviously uh Freddy Freeman is at the top of the order but there’s a question here from KT tune about the bottom of the order the difference is at the bottom of the order did get on base last night fair enough that’s a fair point even if it was just taking a walk whatever I’ll take it I don’t I’ll take a Bas on balls I don’t care they have to set the table for the big guys I hope we see more of what we saw last night well so do we and I think we need more complete games and I’m not talking about going the distance as far as the pitcher is concerned I’m talking about playing the game the right way on both sides of the ball more of a complete team effort from the Dodgers and I think that’s kind of what we saw last night keeping in mind there are 10 pitchers on the iil I think the biggest question mark Clint besides bottom of the order lack of production is Middle relief woes yeah to to pin the uh the the bottom of the lineup thing there you do get a walk I think a walk in a hit for Lux no just a pair of walk for Lux you got two hits for pz uh three RBI of course on that that that it was that was a pretty Homer don’t don’t give take anything away from Andy P’s Homer after you know show but that was a pretty Homer in that game teoscar Hernandez kind of going through a little bit Kik getting in there getting a hit and whatever that’s how you win some ball games give uh give some RBI opportunity to people like Mookie Betts to people like sh Otani but enough about that yeah the the middle relief um it’s been a problem and and yeah you could you could point to 10 guys being on the injured list and that’s where it kind of starts most late most recent Kyle hurt going on the iil another pitcher with shoulder inflammation joining Bobby Miller who hit the iil last week uh Nick Ramirez by the way we see in the Tweet there he’s been pretty good in a couple of games uh since joining the Dodgers from the Yankees uh I don’t know if I want to throw Ryan brazer under the bus already but brazer he’s somebody you want I’ve been since the uh since spring training you know late signing uh did you know join the team very early in spring training at all that but he just never looked good at any point uh in spring training I think the Clock Struck midnight on that Cinderella signing for the Dodgers every inherited Runner he has inherited has scored he’s also allowing his own runs it’s just it’s it’s a what what am I looking for it’s a recipe for disaster for this Bullpen Joe Kelly has his hit and miss moments we know how that goes Evan Phillips if we’re going to throw one good thing in there has been phenomenal but Bullpen uh it’s one of those things like uh Andrew Freeman says it will keep you up at night and I think it’s keeping Dodgers fans up at night right now well 103 and a third Innings pitch so far as far as La relievers are concerned I mean they’re overworked that means your starters aren’t going deep into the ball game with the exception perhaps of Tyler glasnow obviously Bobby Miller is now on the iil Dave Robert saying it’s a little bit of smoke well where there’s smoke there’s fired there’s 10 guys on the nobody is going to feel sorry for the Los Angeles daughters trust me having now been back at MLB Network covering all 30 teams nobody cares um W Walker beer Tony gelin bruar graterol Clayton Kershaw Dustin may Kyle hurt now Bobby Miller EMT Sheen Blake Tran and Connor brogen those are the 10 guys that are on the I and there’s some big guns in the you know on the Shelf but I tell you what walker buer uh had his most recent Rehab start Clint on Thursday couldn’t throw strikes was walking the ballpark so he’s going to need another one now you could look at it from both sides of this right you could say okay it’s not about results um and it’s basically his spring training but you need to make sure that he gets out of their healthy but is also effective yeah uh I understand why they’re kind of being a little cautious with him I I think that was one of the the um the worries the issues early in spring training as well when we started hearing more about them pushing him back uh Dave Roberts usually finds his words you know picks and chooses his words pretty carefully and I know we’re going to talk more about Walker buer with our guest Jerry Harrison Jr who will be joining us uh in a few minutes here on the show so guys stay tuned drop those comments uh for Jay Hair Dodgers reporter and analyst but um that’s one of the things with with Bueller is Dave was kind of straight up and saying like we don’t really like what we’re seeing so far he’s not he’s not striking as well as he usually does the the mechanics are a little bit off and it makes sense this is a guy who’s missed the better part of a year and a half takes some time to get uh you know get the juices flowing again get back in Rhythm but it’s also been more than a year and a half so you do start to worry a little bit maybe well you just don’t know what you’re going to get you don’t know what you’re going to get from a guy coming off the shelf with Tommy John surgery and let us not forget that this is his second TJ um so it’s interesting to see what’s going to happen I don’t want to rush him back obviously um we’re not at that point the Dodgers still lead the division uh it’s April 22nd this is not a panic moment um but you do want Walker bu to be effective um but again there’s a lot of guys that we’re counting on to be healthy at some point this season and the starters need to go deeper into games because the bullpen is overworked and you don’t have two massive pieces of your Bullpen with Blake trinon and bruised dark graterol on the hill there’s some folks that are uh pretty hot Clint about the lack of production from the bottom of the order Angelo fire Rison has been dis oh well that’s a that’s a pitching question obviously um fire Horizon has been disappointed yes Clint also wants him DF but I mean there are people that are um here we go I wish the Dodgers would start Miggy row at shortstop more this is from Shane Rochester I don’t get why they ask mooki at 31 years old to do it and play Lu Lux at second base well because Lux doesn’t have the arm for short right now um but I guess that’s why I’m not the manager Shane we all are um yeah hey I’ll I’ll say about Lux and I do want to ask uh uh Jerry about Lux a little bit I would say Lux doesn’t quite have the bat right now to be in the lineup either but maybe I don’t know maybe that’s just a hot take uh on my side of things maybe but I think the whole reason that they had to move mooki from right field to the short stop spot is because Lux didn’t have the arm strength or the throws or the accuracy I should say and again maybe he’s taken that to the to the plate and doesn’t really have the offense there either what’s your take on we can ask Jerry about this too um what is your take on flipping you know flipping the script on this lineup a little bit one thing we talked about the other day on Thursday here on Dodgers territory is the fact that Brian Snicker runs the exact same guys out there all the time for the Atlanta Braves is it time to like switch up the order a little bit so it’s funny this was part of the conversation I had on last week’s all Dodgers thirsty Thursday show uh I don’t know where you really make a massive change in this lineup if you you can’t take mookie bets out of that leadoff spot he is just too damn good there show ha’s Numbers show you he is incredible as a number two hitter Maybe you flip him and Freddy Freeman we know that the the tandem of mooki and Freddy at the top of the order does well but beyond that um I mean you could have somebody going over in the nine hole or going over in the seven hole it’s still going to be kind of a problem uh I enjoy I like the idea of a spark the idea of a lineup change causing it or you know sparking a team to do something I don’t know that that fixes this team right now or helps very much but um if they don’t have a very good road trip I think it’s in the realm of possibility is this team missing JD Martinez or Justin Turner more than we’re giving them credit for I mean they JD JD was really really good last year when healthy they played they won a 100 games without JT last year I think J if you have Justin Turner in this lineup who’s who’s still getting it very very much done as he approaches 40 years old I think this would be a very very different looking lineup if he’s playing some third base moveing uh uh Max mty to second base where he admits he’s feels a lot more comfortable even though Max has played a really really solid Third Base I would just say it’s not it hasn’t been a problem there I but to to your question I wouldn’t say that they’re necessarily missing those guys what they’re missing is Chris Taylor hitting what they’re missing is Gavin Lux hitting James outman doing what he was doing last year and and of course Kik Hernandez kind of adding something a little more consistency uh to the lineups so figure it out the only real position player on the iil is is Hayward so their guys are healthy they just need to to hit got to play mun and outman every day according to Omar Vargas well I mean I mean mun pretty much does get to play every day um they’ve got to start hitting though outman needs to start hitting I mean he needs to start getting that production it’d be interesting to see and I don’t have it uh in front of me right now but it would be interesting to see especially since Muki has been moved to the infield from The Outfield what the production from the Dodgers outfielders is based on you know in comparison to everybody else in the National League West well I looked those numbers up last week this was on Thursday so obviously they changed they did not have a very good week uh weekend did the Outfield but I believe it was something like a 170 batting average uh in from all out three uh all three Outfield spots left field was the worst at like 074 there’s some problems with the production particularly in the Outfield a little bit back in the uh the chat here our Guy Roy I mentioned we need to let Andy pz run wild come October he’s going to make it a big five Andy pz got that first hit a little bit of a slow start or slow middle but hopefully that Homer kind of puts him in in um on the right track to being a Difference Maker because if he can take the ball and run with it he will stay in this lineup and and by the way we’re it’s easy for us to sit back and be you know Monday Morning Quarterback uh and say you should be doing this you should you know just hit the ball see the ball hit the ball throw strikes you know what are you guys doing you suck boo you’re terrible look at Jackson holiday of the Baltimore Orioles you know the number one Prospect in all of baseball I believe this kid will be an All-Star um he is so unbelievably talented to go along with very young Talent already with the Baltimore Orioles and he is having one heck of a time at the big league level I mean he finally got a hit the other day and it was a roller that I was like just please I was praying that he could run it out um and he’s the number one ECT in baseball and he’s going to be very successful this game is not easy and it’s difficult to make the adjustment at this level again not making excuses just P trying to provide some context of how difficult that this is all right so we um were able to get my boy Jer Jerry Harrison Jr off of the golf course which is very difficult if you ever follow Jerry on Instagram he is either a golfing or B comparing himself to Denzel Washington so Jerry is with us now and I believe he was losing by Two Strokes to Kyle Lo Jerry how is the golf game now since the last time we chatted uh nothing’s changed uh Kyle who’s driving the golf cart right now my man Kyle what’s up hold on yeah he’s currently up two strokes on me we’re at 17 uh Kyle’s a really good golfer uh and I have not made any putts today so far so hopefully uh I finish strong all right so your short game is terrible per usual as is your long game uh and your middle game do you think that Sunday was a Get Right game for your boys and blue tend to nothing over the Mets it was a must needed win uh listen in April you never want to say there’s must wins but I think it was a must-win and not only that guys got healthy especially swinging the bats anytime you beat a team like the Mets who were red hot you beat them 10 to nothing and have your Ace Tyler glass now who absolutely dealt had everything working you needed to finish that home stand strong to now have an off day today and then go on a road n Day Road Trip yes it was a get right day a must needed win for the Dodgers who are gonna be fine but you still want to end the home stand on a positive note yeah Jerry we’re talking about this a little bit earlier in the show you have this Get Right game but it comes on the heels of not the the prettiest home standad we’ve seen do you really need to get off on the right track here on the road to solidify and say that yeah that was a get right game or was it a flash in the pan I don’t think it was a flash in the pan the team’s too talented you gotta [Music] remember it’s April this team especially a lot of guys in wins make no mistake about it everybody knows it’s the Dodgers uh especially what they did this off season it’s World Series of bus not getting to the World Series winning the World Series they understand that uh so sometimes in April you’re going to have some LS sometimes throughout the regular season with June June July August you’re going to have a week 10 days where it’s just not going to be there uh Freddy Freeman is starting to swing the bat extremely well he really had uh the last two games squaring balls up we know shy lani’s swinging the bat extremely well uh with this Talent as long as they stay healthy they will be in the thick of things but make no mistake about it it’s all about the 11 wins in the postseason and Jerry to get there they’re going to need Walker buer he didn’t have the best uh most recent rehab outing obviously did not throw strikes Dave didn’t like the command didn’t saw what he didn’t like what he saw how important are the results of what he’s going through right now I mean it’s basically spring training for Walker it is and Alana you know this you just said it it’s spring training for him it’s hard for guys that been in the big leagues and have thriv thriv in the big leagues to get on a minor league rehab knowing you know what this doesn’t really mean anything uh guys are working on stuff they’re trying not to get hurt uh as opposed to going out there competing so a fine line being a guy like a walker beer making sure that he gets his work in make sure he spots his fastball work on his breaking ball if he needs to knowing that it’s Triple A baseball and he knows that he’s needed not just throughout the regular season but in the postseason so we’re not worried about Walker we know it’s Spring train for him we just want to make sure once he gets the big leagues he hits the ground running and he’s going to be in the rotation the rest of the season Jerry uh you mentioned the talent on this team team they added an insane Talent level with Shi Otani in the offseason talk a little bit about what this guy is doing coming off of major elbow surgery and kind of what you think he’s adding to the clubhouse so far you know that the adding to the clubhouse thing I didn’t realize he was that much of a a jokester you know listen I I go in the clubhouse every once in a while I’m around the guys every once around the batting cage just seeing him on TV seeing around the guys he’s got a kery junor type of uh kid in him what I mean by that he’s always smiling joking when I played with Junior with the Reds I was like man this guy’s always smiling he’s always in a good mood and I I just remember a couple guys saying wouldn’t you be in a good mood when you had that swing I think that’s what was showy he’s always in a good mood because I mean does anybody have his talent his ability you know he hits above 450 feet when he’s right he throws 100 miles an hour has a devastating slider so there’s a reason why he’s always in a good mood always in a joyous mood he’s in a great environment like the Dodgers he’s got a chance to win uh not just this year for for years to come he loves the GU he’s playing with so he’s always smiling always in a good mood and he’s definitely brought uh that sense of uh of childlike uh glow in him in that Clubhouse we’re talking with Jerry harston Jr who’s in his 11th season covering the Dodgers on sports net LA obviously 16 years in the show Richard Flores wants to know why the Dodgers pull their best hitters Jerry when facing a left-hander well usually they they like the matchup you know they go the Lefty righty matchup so if there’s lefties on the mound they’ll make sure a guy like akik Hernandez gets in the lineup who hits left-handed pitching they make sure a guy like tasar hernandis hits further up in the in the order because he crushes left-handed pitching so uh they like to mix and match play the percentages uh they usually have guys that they’ll face a left-handed a pitcher they’re from the right side and vice versa so we got another comment here from a commenter Joe mama says Dodgers got to quit trying to swing for the fence uh fences do you think this is a team that’s maybe a little too worried about that that big fly when uh you could maybe just move the ball forward keep the line moving I think when you have a run on third base less than two outs you got to short it up a little bit there’s nothing wrong going for the the bomb hitting home runs we want guys driving the baseball uh that’s okay but certain situations you want to be able to put the ball play I think there’s been much swing and Miss uh the guys will tell you that with runner on third base or the base is loaded less than less than two outs you got to be able to put the ball in play then once you do that put the ball in play then you can go for the for the long Ball but guys are going to hit enough home runs they realize that but the main thing is execution especially when you get to the postseason you’re going to be facing guys number one two and three starters you got to be able to put the ball in play in key situations Jerry you were the original Super utility and now we have a couple of those guys with Chris Taylor and Kik Hernandez obviously on the team but we do need some production out of the bottom part of that order what is what is your take on how these guys can stay in their Rhythm stay with their timing but we need we need a b there a bit of juice there from the bottom well make no mistake about it if you’re gonna be a championship ball Club you got to have one through nine be tough outs uh the bottom of a lineup is off to a slow start I don’t even want to say they’re struggling they’re off to a slow start uh they know they need to be better a a guy like a Gavin Lux he missed what a little over a year he missed the entire season last year it’s really a year and a half of playing competitive baseball Big League Baseball so I think he’s GNA find his footing very shortly James Alman has scored up a lot of baseballs he’s had nothing to show for it uh I think Miguel Ross is off to a really good start swinging the bat so is Austin Barnes yes the numbers are a little bit glaring they’re not hitting the way they’re capable of I still think it’s early those guys will be fine Gavin Lux is a b to balls guy he’s going to hit around 270 280 once he gets his footing in I really believe James Alman will you know some of those hard hit balls are going to find uh land in the outfield hey hey Jerry we noticed you haven’t hit a shot yet you put yourself before on this hole or what’s the plan well I’m gonna tell we’re on a par five here I’m gonna tell Kyle just give me an e that way if he pars it we’re even going on 18 uh he’s he knows that I’m want to use this as an excuse I think he’s just off the green into the buck he just hit a great shot probably around out 10 faks from the cup so hopefully he misses this putt and and then we’re we’re tied going in 18 I feel badly that we’re taking over your golf game I do appreciate the time Jerry as we talked to you here on Dodgers territory before we let you go is Tyler glasnow the new stopper that Clayton kersa used to be I’m gonna say yes he he’s only had one bad outing and he had terrible flu like symptoms we didn’t think he take the hill but he wanted a post he wanted to take the ball Nationals really uh swung the bat extremely well against him if you take the way that starts he has been dominant listen facing a red hot Mets team yesterday and just completely shutting them down that just goes to show when he’s on his aame he’s as good as it gets so I believe Alana that we got a variety of Stoppers but Tyler glas now right now is number one once we get Bobby Miller healthy once we get Walker bu buer healthy and obviously Clayton Kershaw who’s on his way back sometime in Late July early August we’re going to have a pretty good rotation to go along with Yamamoto to go to go along uh with the rest of our guys uh Gavin Stone has really been solid as well so uh we should be in good shape heading in uh not just the next couple months but heading into uh September October Jerry last one before we let you uh you know pull a ball out of the pocket drop it close to the hole there the big storyline entering the season was mooki bets moving to shortstop we’ve seen about a month of mookie bets as the starting shortstop what are your takeaways there and do you think I don’t I don’t want to call it an experiment but do you think this is going to last the entirety of the season and should it last the entirety of the season last I checked I think Muki was you know I think top five and defensive run save that short stop he came up as an infielder he made himself into an incredible right fielder in my eyes probably the best right fielder best defensive right fielder I’ve seen I never saw Roberto Clemente but for him going back to the infield is no surprise that he’s thriving there at shortstop one of the best athletes not best baseball players one of the best athletes uh in sports today so anytime you doubt mookie bets I wouldn’t do so he’s just that that good of an athlete yeah best athlete in the game no doubt about it Jerry Harrison Jr 16 years in the show not the best golf game but one of the best people in the world thanks so much for uh uh oh hey Kyle just birdie that hole did I birdie that hole you didn’t even you didn’t even play 1. The identical comparison with Ruth does not tell that during those HR hits Babe only pitched and hit simultaneously for 6month. While Shohei pitched almost three full seasons along those 176 HRs.

As for RISP. it’s April no Panic

    Ohtani: RISP
    (2023) AVG .317 / OPS 1.078
    (2022) AVG .314 / OPS 1.213
    (2021) AVG .284 / OPS 1.165

  2. Wow lastnight on a discord call with a homie I said Shohei should be able to get to 500 Hrs funny you guys were talking about that lol

  3. Dodgers need to start moving away from injured pitchers, we've had pitchers injured for 2yrs , let move away from them and get new pitchers

  4. alanna roasting J Hair is incredible. its like a big Sportsnet LA sibling rivalry

  5. I don't know if Miguel Rojas at age 35 can play every single game at Shortstop so it just has to be a team effort until the trade deadline!
