video right now to give you the insights to the best golf courses in the UAE how are you doing very well thank you looking forward to talking more about UAE and yeah get into more detail so how many times have you been out to the UAE a couple times three times yeah three times but um one trip we did at Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just one trip which was great and then did Abu Dhabi and Dubai separately on another occasion as well so yeah been very fortunate very lucky each trip just as amazing playing golf there never gets old honestly the conditions ridiculous the weather’s perfect it’s yeah it’s the ultimate golf escape really yeah I went there played there once went to visit went with Ali from your golf travel we played a few courses out there and it was like a bucketlist trip like it was just incredible and the best thing about it was it was very spontaneous I had no idea that I was going until maybe like a couple weeks before and I was like absolutely like definitely got to get on it yeah for sure we played night golf out there we played some championship courses it was amazing so to begin with Jumeirah Earth Course what a fantastic course I think this was one of the first courses that I played when I went out there with Ali absolutely loved it I the first thing I noticed was the amount of bunkers like over like 100 or yeah I can’t remember the numbers on top of my head but I mean if you go on there without hitting a single bunker you’ve performed some sort of miracle so yeah literally you need to be throwing darts which I don’t do I join the club I went into a couple but I I left as a pro in bunkers in there but so yeah Jamir at Earth course it is classed to be one of the best out there why is that well firstly it holds the DP World Finals at the end of the year in November so you always see big names uh playing down the iconic 16th 17th 18th with the water Island par three hole and 17th the creek running down the 18th hole it’s just it’s pretty recognizable and I mean it’s just a phenomenal layout and just a great facility really so yeah you always see big names around there yeah yeah it was one of those you know when you like of course for the first time and you know it’s amazing and when you’re on that first tee box you just had that like wow factor like I remember stepping on to the fairway and it honestly felt like a carpet like it was just ridicul imaculate sometimes you’re just driving on the buggies and you’re just like putting your hands down in the grass you can’t get how perfect is is this real but um yeah know definitely condition I mean out in Dubai in general it’s immaculate but especially around there I mean it’s just um it’s phenomenal I mean you te off the first hole and you’re like nervous cuz you just see so many guys do it before so but I mean I remember that round vividly looking forward to the 17th and 18th you’ve seen on TV so many times and just going 16th water 17th water 18th water I was like all right looking forward to all day but you know um definitely didn’t take anything away from the experience was still pretty magical so yeah yeah amazing yeah I remember s on that that first te I remember being nervous usually I’ll play like such a safe shot I think I got a n out which to be fair was probably the right club but I remember it actually managed you know pretty straight on the fairway and I was like this round is going to be amazing and then we obviously got to the green eventually and um they were like rapid like it was like pting on glass yeah it’s an amazing experience for all handicappers I think yes okay run the greens it’s going to be a little bit difficult the kind of the Fairway is a bit more grabby sometimes for chipping around the green it’s a bit more difficult but the greens are so pure like if you hit a good part it’s going to go in so it’s just it’s very true but yeah it’s definitely going to be a lot faster than what guys is going to be used to in the UK but I think that just adds the experience and makes you feel like you’re playing a tour course when they’re that pure and that quick so I think um yeah just it makes it more exciting I think really yeah no I’d agree for sure there was this part three I remember went out with Ali and there was a little group of us front line somewhere maybe like the third hole or something like that don’t quote me on that but it was a PA three Alli um I think goes to the side then chips on and he’s got he’s got I would say about 40 foot putt Ali for one like he’s a good putter like he’s got this putter he got a new one his dad gave it to something ever since anyway great putter and he yeah went to putt and it literally zoomed off of this green like we’re obviously still getting used to like this honestly down a slope kept on rolling kept on rolling so funny he smiled but in his face I could see that he was hurting definitely one to hit on the ego yeah but I feel like that’s just part of the experience cuz you look back and you’re not going to be like I was really annoyed by that it’s just like I’ve never experienced greens like this and it gives you kind of perspective of what it’s like for the tall guys so I think it’s fun yes it’s definitely more challenging but yeah just adds the experience definitely yeah for sure and like in my experience of playing golf I feel like a lot of people kind of compare the speed of the green to the quality like you always like I always hear people saying oh the course was great the greens were so quick and you know Jamir of course definitely was up there with the speed on the greens so every hole that we played from what I remember I mean it was about just under a year ago I think um I remember every hole literally honestly having that wow factor and the 18th that has got to be one of the most challenging holes I think I’ve ever played yeah it’s crazy the design of that water going through the fairway yeah and all on TV you watch it you’re like oh it looks like there’s plenty of fairway left and right of it but then you play it I remember just hitting a five iron for my second shop and I just leave it plenty right side and then it all feeds down and goes in the water and you’re like oh this is actually a really difficult shot I mean if I did it again i definitely would have tried to do it differently but um yeah definitely a cool hole to end on but yeah very challenging indeed so Jumeirah Earth want to play when you’re out in Dubai definitely what about what what other course would you say for the next what’s the one that pops up for you for me Emirates Golf Club Majlis course just springs to mind instantly it’s that backdrop I think it’s on the eighth hole. it’s a par four you’ve got the Dubai Marina in the background and the skyline and you you see it year on year with the guys playing it with the Trac and uh definitely when you play it you appreciate how much further left you actually have to aim because you cannot carry the sand you have to actually take the conservative approach is it like 320 to like carry it like towards like the middle of the fair yeah if you’re taking right side I reckon it’s probably 300 especially off the backs but um yeah when you actually play there’s like a lower te which means you don’t have to take as much carry but I think you got to get the full experience and just give it a go so yeah it’s such an iconic backdrop that like I feel like everyone almost if you watch golf knows that hole even if you’ve not been to the UAE or to the specifically you saw that that skyline that hole is so like iconic it’s the one where you’re going to want to take get your get your phone out and take take a few photos def that’s the one you’re going to send your mates for sure yeah it is amazing so what else about that course you know puts it at the top I mean similar to Jumeirah the condition again is just immaculate I mean even the worst golf course in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is going to be ridiculous condition I mean the greens are pure Fairways are pure it’s just going to be slightly different layout but manless I me there’s two courters at Emirates Golf Club you’ve got the Faldo where it’s probably more known for its night golf and then you’ve got Majilis for um the Dubai Desert Classic but um yeah I mean you can see the the Dubai Marina backdrop skyline from all around the course is not just on that iconic par four so yeah the views are Relentless condition is amazing and you’re walking the footsteps of of insane golfers like tiger and Roar so yeah it’s definitely one on the bucket list yeah for sure I think when I played it with Ali it was either right before or right after the hero classic it was Championship conditions that alone made it like so hard like that’s one of like like playing in that condition made me realize that if you miss the Fairway you literally are in a lot of trouble and you almost just want to just get it back into play Fairway like I can’t remember the measurement of it but it was so thick and it was like if you’re off that Fairway then then you’re in trouble but made even more for the experience cuz like you say you are walking in the footsteps of all of the Legends in golf and you’re playing the course as they would be playing it so it’s and then you like respect them even more you’re exactly fair enough like they are if you shoot miles over your handicap you’re not going to be annoyed about it you just appreciate the kind of caliber of golf course so I mean at jira Earth you’re experiencing the bunkers but then at Majlis probably going to be more of the test of the rough so yeah and then when you get even further if you’ve gone Ultra wide then you’re going to be in the sand so maybe a few rocks deal with but yeah definitely gives you more of that Middle East kind of experience that you’re looking for out there yeah so if you were going to Dubai for your golf holiday we’ve got those two so we’ve got Jumeirah Earth and then we’ve got the Emirates Majlis let’s go to Abu Dhabi Yas Links tell me about that I’ve never let me tell you about let me he’s wearing the polo it’s actually coincidence I didn’t even mean to do that but um so yeah tell me tell me about I’ve never played it i’ I know like Alli he’s played it he said and actually do qu me on it he did say it was his favorite course ever so what what makes it so good I mean I know we’re reeling off the DP tour hosts here so they’re all Championship Mega golf courses but Yas is definitely one of the most challenging I think if you’re not driving the ball well then you’re going to be you’re going to be uh struggling but you know one of the guys in the team shot uh two under I think when he was around there so but he is an ex pro so uh shout out to David but um yeah it’s definitely a challenging golf course but I think that’s probably in my top three golf courses I’ve ever played Just condition even relative for uee is definitely the best I mean you watch videos back and the fairways it’s just it’s carpet you don’t even see any other divots there something about that place it’s just Immaculate but um yeah it’s it’s it’s definitely one of the the nicest golf courses I’ve played for sure tell me about that iconic hole don’t know what hole it is um you’ve got almost I think it’s something like I think Ali said it’s a 200 yard carry over some water onto the Fairway it’s the one hole that I remember about yes links when I’ve like watched it and things like that have you played that hole with you yeah so I think um there’s a couple holes with a few carries but um depends on how far back you’re team off maybe you should have take a slightly more conservative approach and be slightly more forward but for me there are there are a couple path fours and also the 18th path five is definitely one to remember but there’s a couple par threes that are around kind of like 140 yard 150 yard mark and they’re just straight over water and you’re just looking out seeing guys jet skiing on the water and everything and it’s just a pretty magical experience so for me those path through stick in my head more than anything else and there’s a couple of them so and they’re the ones you definitely want to get your camera out so yeah for me and and also I hate playing like 200 yard plus path 3es where you’re just having to hit long irons small metals but something about kind of 140 yard par 3s over water pretty don’t make it complicated that’s just yeah that’s just awesome so definitely suck in my head so how hard is it to actually get on like if I wanted to have a golf holiday is it is it quite easy to get on like if I wanted a golf holiday to Abu Dhabi to play as links this year would I be able to oh no definitely definitely it’s the only time you’re going to have problems with availability is naturally after the tour events so as long as you avoid those times then there’s pretty good availability all year round so I mean the only times I would say to avoid booking is kind of like July August when it’s really 40° plus and although we did it in May June time once and it was it was okay if you play early enough but definitely I think best time of the year is really kind of October through to about April and that’s your prime time and then you’re going to have that perfect weather and then get out of that horrible winter in the UK and get over to Dubai sun and have that sun yeah absolutely I remember when I went I think it was supposed to be yeah winter in the UK when I was over there polo shorts I was like this is just exactly fantastic and it’s not even too long of a flight I think it was around 6 and a half hours and they usually end up doing quicker than that anyways but um yeah so it you know 3 or 4 hours jet lag it’s not it’s very manageable short flight you can do a Night Flight turn up and play golf that day if you want you know it’s it’s it’s really easy you can even do it in four nights if you want to you don’t have to stay there for a week or 10 10 nights or anything so um yeah it’s kind of the perfect mid hole destination I would say yeah and it’s interesting that you say that like 6 and a half hours let’s say that’s an extra two hours from turkey and in my head it’s like for some reason turkey very manageable then when people say Dubai I think that’s so far away but it’s actually not especially when you think like 2 hours extra from Turkey it’s not a lot yeah exactly it’s really not a lot and then you’re guaranteed Sun I think what it’s like 360 days of sun I think rain like a couple of days it barely rains and even if it does it’s going to be raining for an hour or even half an hour and they’re having to put that down as a day of rain which obviously compared to a day of rain in the UK is completely different so yeah the weather is almost guaranteed and not to put down turkey but I don’t think the weather is as guaranteed as like it is in the UAE so that’s definitely one of the selling points and I think some people also have maybe in their heads that Dubai is can be super expensive but and there’s plenty of really good three and four star hotels there that we sell a lot of that um definitely makes it more affordable so you can spend less on your hotels more on the golf um yeah just to have an ultimate trip really so and I remember the flight being very comfortable as well ex talking about golf courses I know but obviously you need to get there eventually and the flight I just remember just being so comfortable so the six hours 6 and a half hours yeah it was an absolute Breeze Okay so we’ve named three fantastic courses there are there any others that you think right at the top um had to list one more Abu Dhabi is definitely one Abu Dhabi Golf Club is one I want to talk about there’s a Hotel vogo Abu Dhabi right on site so you can literally walk out of your room and basically be on the Range to hit a warm up and then go on the T box this the iconic yeah the Falcon Clubhouse ababi Golf Club um does some amazing lunches there as well so I recommended checking that out after the round but um yeah be able to walk out um hit the range and then go play 18 holes of golf and then just go back to your room clean up go out for dinner it’s just it’s best it’s the best esape for groups and it’s just if you’re a real golf keeper want to play as much as possible then yeah it’s the perfect option for sure yeah nice I mean there are so many Fantastic courses in the UAE and for me it’s just a perfect golf holiday destination because you’ve got the championship golf courses that you can play plus so many others you know there are so many other courses to to play more so than what we’ve mentioned on this podcast but Dubai as a destination is just a perfect holiday like when me and Ali went out we went on like jet skis and stuff like that I know that’s not everybody’s thing but there is literally something for everyone in Dubai in the UAE abui and things like that so it’s just such a great destination if you just want to play Pure golf absolutely if you want to do some other things yeah exactly like when we went out there we were very focused on the golf but so if you don’t want to be worrying about the shopping malls the beaches or anything then you can really just fill your boots with golf do uh there’s even top golf in Dubai now and then you’ve got night golf at the F course at emirat so you know you can just fill your boots with golf if you want to but you know if you want to have a bit more of a leisurely trip then you can go to the beaches there’s massive malls which are pretty iconic out there yeah doing jet ski which whe as well yeah amazing I mean yeah with the Burge uh B AR behind us Hotel um yeah that picture is definitely one that’s going to be remembered for a long time so yeah definitely it’s plenty for everyone I think to buy as a stigma it’s like all five star super expensive flashy money but it really isn’t like that you can obviously do that experience if you want to but you can also do at lowkey and just keep yourselves to yourselves it’s it’s really there’s something out there for everyone I think yeah yeah I mean you’ve just heard Simon there your world traveler so good at like curating the packages for clients to you want to
