all right everybody Welcome to the 2023 2024 athletic award [Applause] show well jar we’re here for the nine purple eag Awards but before we get started we’d like to welcome father hover to the stage for tonight’s invocation [Applause] wow I did print something out a few years ago and put it in my pocket but I don’t think I’ll use that simply to say as we all come together the realization is we have different understandings about something greater than what each one of us may be the source of the gifts that we bring together the gifts that you have brought together this year maybe many seasons before those your freshman year thanking God for those gifts brought as individuals made greater as you shared them as team members we pray with grateful hearts for those gifts we pray with grateful hearts for your coaching staffs and all the support um to be with you to recognize the challenges that are certainly present for being a student athlete and the commitment that you’ve made the dedication that you give and the reality that there are those great High moments and there are those times where just can’t figure out why things happen the way they do but part of my prayer would be that we always understand that we learn from both and it’s our effort to keep on the journey and to know the joy of sharing the gifts that we have and knowing the exhilaration of achiev and wanting to get better all the time and we want to pray particularly as we come together in a situation like this remembering always those who are behind us many times we don’t know they’re there we’re very grateful of very blessed at the support we have from family and friends for all of our teams and but also thanking of those nagants who support our programs thanking God for all gifts and tonight we have lots of laughs and cheer one another and that’s just a little bit of the joy God wants us to know as we live our lives and realize the gift of love amen thank you Father for those beautiful words for your support Athletics we are so grateful to see you at our many competitions what a year it’s been for us here at M as we continue to sort to new heights in the fall all of our teams made the postseason while women’s bowling started their first season here at n University in the winter season women’s swing brought the ma Championship back to on Eagle [Applause] Ridge we also saw a second straight wnit appearance for women’s basketball and not only that a wnit win over Le Moine at home and in the spring baseball is off to an 110 start in M [Applause] play the is also having a record setting season and going into the MAC Championship as a second seed women’s track and field continues to break and set new records every time they step onto that track we’ve seen upsets record-breaking performances legendary starts and most importantly the canal cup is coming back to [Applause] Niagara but there are a lot more exciting moments than those let’s take a look back at the year of Niagara Athletics Hey kid don’t ever let them get inside your head they’ll tell you what you do in life instead everything you know that you could get don’t let them guide your life towards your gret I’ll fight for what I love with every breath my past is filled with things I won’t forget I use the all to push me to my best so treat the worst of times just like a test if only I could go back in time I tell myself that everything will end up all right just push yourself test yourself figure out what you like can find your limits don’t be rigid always work towards a prime surround yourself with open minds people can change your life a few friends with intent can help you feel alive find the passion take some action and with a little time just be patient make a statement try to enjoy your life while doubt they silently scared that you’ll figure it out make it look like I’m losing won’t bother hiding my bruises and when they finally think you won’t then it’s your chance to be [Applause] ruthless throws the cross in kler the header it’s into the short side [Applause] [Music] for Ross [Music] back for the redirect heill is into the back of the ne the one swung on drilled out to left this is deep Hutchin flips the bat and we will watch this one go that I go I know you hate that I’ve been doing fine I’m not wasting any more time I live for the fight and the CL and I think me so proud to be your athletic director because of the way you support each other and I thank you for that I thank you for coming in and doing your hard work every day I know it’s not glorious or glamorous on some of the days um but please know that we’re all pulling for you and we’re all working hard and we think it’s our responsibility to provide you the best experience that we can so thank you I hope it’s reciprocal a few thank yous as well antonos this is the first uh time in many years that we’ve been back here so we thank the Antonio staff for everything that they did uh me Casey and and watching the awards and it was like every award multiple people could have got it was very difficult um do appreciate everybody that took part in the voting process um one more round of applause our women swim team our Max Champ here done and the way our spring is going I think we have few my jam so just an incredible spring so far uh you may have heard earlier but we won the battle the softball team here uh tonight miss them they’re on the road had a sweet of quinc over the weekend [Applause] they so we do miss that and congratulate that when they when they come back um one thing I want to say you know it’s been said a couple times that uh you know obviously this year has been very very special and it’s part of a couple of years a few years um your hard work is paying off this is actually the best 3year period of women’s sports in Niagara [Applause] history so the recognition that women sports are getting nationally is certainly welld deserved and we’re also feeling it right here on our campus so well done um to all of our teams the theme this year as you remember when we gave you the shirts it was unfinished business and I can say we settled scho this year right and there’s a few more few more scores to settle and we’ve been so close um some of our teams and we know next year uh that you’ll get and we’ll get more Championship um I just you know it’s been said a couple I just want to say one more time how nice it is to see you support each other several times this year more than more so than any other year that I’ve been here people were watching other teams while they were on the road you know watching the broadcast and pulling for them and I think uh that really says a lot it really says a lot about us people and it says a lot in the collective about our department I’m incredibly proud to be your athletic director not just because of what we’ve been talking about all these athletic highlights but because of the way you lead on our campus in the classroom and also suring the on and off campus community so thank you for all that you’re doing it really is an honor to be up here and and one more round of applause for all of those in our Support Services academics Sports Medicine strength in all of our administrat those of you who are think about going into it is a lifestyle job that we have folks in our department who work every day uh day in day out all night um so I thank you to our team and the athletics department thank you for all the hard work that you’re putting in our final award is the believe and you award and this award goes to a student athlete who encompass es personifies our core values of Integrity commitment and Excellence someone that when you think of a Niagara student athlete they are right at the top this person has uh done very well this year in competition and is going to uh strive very hard to win a championship I know coming up they’ve been a finalist in the max in the past and wants to uh you know bring the title home this year here but most importantly this student athlete is a leader uh they’ve LED their team I know how hard it is when coaches leap and uh that’s traumatic it’s very hard uh and as much as we can be there to support you as administrators the support that really comes from the team is most important uh this leader is a senior from Portland New York and is your sack president and also one of our MC’s I think that’s the first time that this has happened so I don’t know if she saw the surprise award but believe anyue award from our women’s cross country track and field [Applause] a for reference I was not allowed to move that newspaper from the second I got here so I didn’t even know this was coming but as Simon said it’s been a bit of a rocky road for track finish business but we need [Applause] business thank you Kate and a special thank you to all of our student ath advisory committee officers and those of you from our student athletes and color Alliance really appreciate the hard work that you’re putting in there as well uh if we couldn’t be near as successful as we are without the support of our Board of Trustees and our executive leadership on campus tonight joining us Executive Vice President Dr Debbie colie was here with us we saw father harber earlier um as well but the president is who we’re going to hear from next father marah and in in our business of colle Athletics if you don’t have a support president you’re son and so everything that we have uh in essence is because of his leadership and his belief in us uh and
