objective Buffalo Bills coverage no matter where you are we got you [Applause] covered good evening and welcome to the one Buffalo podcast you are joining your host Greg Thompson along with my partner in crime Aaron Quinn Aaron how is the rest of the cruising Globe uh it was good man it was my first uh cruising vacation experience and I gotta say I really we my wife and I prior to the show we were looking up cruises for next year we really enjoyed it it was exper we’re big fans of the uh Caribbean and it’s one of the cheaper more uh accessible ways to do that and we we had A real blast I’m not I’m now that I’m on camera and the lights are on I I don’t feel as tan as I thought I got and that’s a little frustrating so next time I’m going to have to get a get myself out in the sun a little bit but I got I got pretty burnt Greg I forgot to put sunscreen on my feet the first day I got everything else and like totally forgot about keeping my feet and they were like lobsters little too it was pretty terrible for like two three days but other than that it was good we unplugged for a little bit I you I know I texted you when we finally got back on land but that was kind of to unplug for a couple days and uh take a break from all this stuff and now I’m refreshed and ready to get back into it and now I was just talking to mailman Charlie the other day dra draft is here dude we’re here we got a couple more episodes and that’s it so we finally about to make it across the finish line here yeah eight days eight days until the NFL draft it is a week from tomorrow uh speaking of which cover one’s going to have you covered the entire time next week uh Anthony perasa will be joining us and we’ll be doing a kind of joint film room cover Buffalo show for the last show before the draft and then our shout out to Dave Tilton H half of the uh air raid hour uh has done an awesome job kind of organizing all of our draft coverage we have live coverage all night Thursday Friday Saturday uh for those that are online make sure you’re checking out uh a lot of our team is going to be out there Joe doosa from under review Thomas Dela from Buffalo late night uh John helmcamp from cover one draft they are going to be on site with credentials at the draft uh covering from uh the facility there it’s it’s really really cool and you know you and I take a very pragmatic scheduled approach to the offseason so we don’t get started you know as crazy early as some people do and I’m burnt out like I’m burnt out on you know every I feel we might have even started too early still this year yeah correct I I didn’t do my first mock draft until like the last week of March and I tried to wait till April 1st and I almost made it and I’m like burned out on stuff the people who started earlyer the people who just grind all the film and tape the whole time I don’t know how they do it like the draft is so far away from the beginning I’m glad that we’re finally here yeah it my favorite part is the part and again I this is where I think not just us our show but cover one as a network we have great guys that do cover the draft and get you ready for the draft but I think where we’re going to shine is the post once we know the guys that are coming in and how they’re going to fit and same with free agency right like when we get those guys where are those fits and so that’s that’s why I can’t wait to get eight days away from now 10 days away where we see who these guys are is really start to dissect how is that going to impact the 2024 bills that’s the stuff that gets me excited so I’m ready to get across the finish line here I’m still excited here tonight to do another mock I did one with Pat Moran the other day like I I still I don’t think I’ve done too much of it like we’ve done in the past where I still am kind of excited about the thought exercise Associated to this and there is so many directions the bills can move in right with the way Brandon being structured this roster they have so many picks like so much is up in the air but I’m excited to get the final results and get across the finish line here yeah and I think you know we’ve got a couple things we’re going to talk through tonight before we get into uh you know the mock and kind of go through that exercise and you know we’ll start with one uh one of the last pieces the only real news that happened while we were off last week uh the Bill signed offensive lineman Lyall Collins uh ly Collins is a guy who a lot of people knew he was the one that there was some weird medical stuff that came out as he was about to get drafted out of LSU and he was supposed to be like a late first early second round pick and all of a sudden he starts dropping and it it turned into one of those things where once he dropped into day3 I if I remember right the reporting was his agent was telling teams do not draft him he wants the flexibility to be an undrafted free agent and shockingly teams listened um he ended up signing for like an undrafted free agent record from the Cowboys went there started the first two years at left guard and then played like four more seasons at right tackle then had some a couple injury issues played a season at right tackle with Cincinnati and then last year was uh ended up trying to make it back at the end of Camp got into where he wasn’t going to be ready and then got an injury settlement release uh during the year and now signed with the bills and you had this report come out that he signed and we all kind of reacted like okay that’s really good depth we got a swing tackle and then we heard the reports of up to 6.5 million and that caused me to be like hold on that’s like a starting offensive lineman contract and you know as always you wait for the details those details finally came out the Bill signed it’s a $1.5 million deal like he’s guar but he’s guaranteed it’s all guaranteed you got a $290,000 signing bonus and a 1.21 minimum contract but it’s fully guaranteed which to me says they’re expecting him to make the 53 man roster because they already guaranteed him the 1.5 million and then because he didn’t play last year you have very easy incentives and I haven’t seen the full details I’m actually working with my contact for the NFL PA to see if I can get his contract and see the incentives they’re talking through you know games played game started snap percentage that other $5 million floating out there will be not likely to be and incentive so um I know you were okay with the signing at first but kind of cool on the idea of oh is he going to you know some people were crazy oh do we trade Spencer Brown because we have a new right tackle or oh he’s gonna start over David Edwards now that you’ve seen this contract where’s your head at on the the ad of L CS I think the bills needed Insurance in depth this was something we talked about in removing Mitch Morse and Ryan Bates from this roster was the those luxuries that you had in the backups and now you’re forcing one to become a starter and you sent one off to Chicago even though the bills had a great year of health and didn’t battle attrition in the offensive line I don’t and honestly thank God we don’t know what Ryan vanderark or Alec Anderson would have been an extended exposure for for sure and I don’t think you know knock on your beautiful mahogany behind you but I don’t think you’re going to get two years in a row of no injuries across this offensive line and so I I do think is just building in depth building in depth with experience I still think that there’s a chance that they attack some offensive line in this draft just to get more depth in there but you don’t know where again that’s a projection when you’re drafting you don’t know that that person is going to be able to come in and play Spot Duty in a big spot for a team so I think a move like this to me signals that they want some experience in depth and are willing to guarantee some money to get a guy in that can be experience depth I’d be pretty shocked if he has a starting role but you never say never I didn’t expect Osiris torren to be a starter right away after being drafted and so if he shows out in Camp and can win a spot they’re definitely going to give it to him I think they’ll give him that those opportunities I think as of right now the bills have an idea of what they want at the starting uh for the starting offensive line I think that was already established before this move and I don’t think this move changes anything for them yeah I I would put it you know if we step back now and look at the contracts that have been signed by L Collins David Edwards Taylor w you could make an argument on a couple others I’ve heard there’s some incentives are upside in M howand I don’t know if I’m going to throw that in this mix but um those three specifically got contracts that the initial reports were like oh wow that’s a fair amount of money and then we see that the vast majority of that is in incentives that they can earn so all three of them got paid like good above average backups and hey if you’re in a starting spot and play a whole bunch you can earn more money and you know I’ve said it a couple other places in in different spots here that’s how I think all contract should work I think all contract should be hey here’s a nice chunk of money that you deserve for being here and if you play more and do well you earn more money and uh the fact that those are the three contracts they got make a lot of sense to me obviously it kind of seems like it’s either or with Edwards or Collins I don’t know that I expect both of them to earn the high end of their contract but it sounds like one of them will be a valuable backup I I’ll make a a wager here one of those two is g to be our jumbo sixth lineman of hey number 67 is reporting eligible and it’s GNA be David Edwards or L Collins um and we’ll see where else it goes you know maybe a draft pick changes that equation uh the same thing maybe a draft pick changes the equation for Taylor rap yeah but right now Bean has set himself up where hey we’re okay we’re in good shape we don’t have a ton of holes and and we’re in that spot yeah these types of contracts with the not likely to be earned incentives uh it it reads to me as like this is a floor that we’re setting for ourselves and if the floor stays where that is then you have a you might have an opportunity to earn the full value of this contract but we would like to improve the floor and we don’t want this to be the floor of this position and so to me it says like we can go into the season with these guys but if we have a chance to improve upon this position we’re going to do it and we’re not stuck with the full value of the contract as it tweeted out we’re just stuck with them what we’ve already guaranteed yeah yeah so I know one topic we want to kind of talk through before we get to uh a few uh kind of mock trades that we’ve seen out there and things where I’ve seen it discussed in a couple other places who do you think has the most at stake or who’s who do you think has things at stake going into this draft now that we’ve seen the digs trade we’ve seen you know some of the you know frustration with McDermot during the season maybe some of the Shine off of bean of where people held him in in AEM that there’s been some questions about the offseason dedication of Josh Allen um maybe a player that now is in a a different position because the guys who are signed or guys who were added what what came to mind when when you kind of thought of that of who has something at stake here or do you think people have as much at stake as what some of the fan base seem to make it so far this year or this offseason going into this draft yeah this is a question we talked about and I’ve been sort of like pondering all week and I don’t really know I think fans think Shan mcdermit probably has the most at stake right now just because there was so much calling for his job and you still see some simmering of that but to me the way that they’ve handled this offseason and The Dumping of Aging contracts and so many some would say in the National media I heard Albert Breer talking about the digs trade on Rich Eisen show and saying like they’re sort of resetting the table for not the window’s not closing for the bills but that they’re resetting the table for a second opportunity at a run with Josh Allen but along with Shan mcder and so to me it almost seems like those this there’s not really a lot at stake for them that they know they’re secure or they would have already moved on I think from michon mcder if they were G to do this type of reset to the roster why would they bring along the coach for that ride so I don’t don’t think he has as much at stake uh what I will say I think what I’ve settled on isn’t so much necessarily at stake but I think the person that probably has the most pressure going to the year and we still don’t know how it will actually play out because um when he was hired for the defensive coordinator job Bobby babich we never really got a full answer of how much sha MC derit is still gonna have a hand in that but I do think this defense has been pretty good even throughout the injuries last year they got better as the year went on what what does Bobby babit bring to this defense what are the changes that it brings to the defense with a new defensive backs coach like with some of the new pieces they they want to do how can he resurrect Kyer elam’s career I think there’s a lot at stake on the defensive side of the ball especially when you have maybe they’re probably this we keep talking about Edge being a potential need in this draft they might not be able to address that need with also an interior defensive lineman as a need like and if you don’t address that say you don’t address safety how is he going to be able to maybe generate some pressure to take some pressure off the safeties if it is going to be a Taylor wrap uh starting type of situation um so I think we know what we’re going to get out of the offense I think for the most part as long as you have Josh Allen whoever whatever wide receiver they get I think you know this offense is going to generate points it’s going to be explosive they’re going to be good I think we know pretty much what to expect out of Joe Brady when we see it uh but it’s the unknown of babit I think to me seems the most at stake and I think he’s going to get the less the least amount of assets coming in at this point in the offseason I think we’ll see more of the assets going towards the offense or at least the the major ones the big assets yeah so it’s funny my head was in the other direction because of that uh and I like Taylor’s question here how hot is Joe Brady’s seat I think there’s a combination where I’m GNA give I don’t I don’t think that the you know that there’s this huge amount of pressure on mcder or on being as much as fans want anyways not that there’s none there is pressure of course but you know coming back in the way that they did and still winning the division winning having another double digit win season another home playoff win winning another playoff game all those things I I do think it’s less than people think it is um but I think there’s some things in a combination of three guys on that offense and it goes into you know a lot of people try to make the case that you know Stefan Diggs it’s okay that he left because Joe Brady wasn’t using him as a centerpiece or designing things around him in that way I think Eric and Anthony specifically showed some things on how just a couple of those long passes connect and all of a sudden those numbers are drastically different but some people have tried to make that case um some people have already leaped to you know Dalton concade is Target number one and this will now be like a Chiefs Travis Kelce tight end Le offense where the number one target is a tight end and and maybe that’s the case and I’d be ecstatic but I think some people are like already there in that you know he yeah no he’s ready for that right now 125 130 targets right now um and I think a third one is Josh Allen I I do think that some of these Rumblings of the offseason stuff and now you know I I think there was plenty of people that rightfully pushed back that Stefan digs did not make Josh Allen and like Josh had his breakout season when Diggs got here but I I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a little bit in the back of my mind of like huh when this is a second-year Dalton concade and a I’ll say highend Gadget player like Curtis Samuel and maybe two rookies and a James Cook you know heavy two tight end offense what’s it going to look like with are you disrespecting K here just to mess or you that was not on purpose but it is kind of Freudian that I didn’t I didn’t bring him up you know that that kind of thing that that we’re now depending on a lot of those kind of pieces of like hey they were kind of nice in that role but now this enormous 150 Target vacuum has opened up what do all those things look like what does Josh’s production look like what is all the what do the all these other pieces relate to so I kind of spread it around there and I do think that we’re going to see more investment on that offensive side of the ball but I do think that those guys have h a bit at stake here to to go into it I think that’s fair so for our uh fun segment for our friends over at William matar uh a fantastic graphic I don’t know who made these but this these turned out really clean some intern some intern must have put them together uh so obviously you guys know our fantastic Partners at William matar William matar law offices and their famous slogan hurt Nar Cole William matar um we’re gonna have a segment here that I’m gonna pitch a couple of you know often talked about trades that are out there in the the Twitter sphere and some legitimate writers who put these things out there and Aaron is going to tell me if he wants to pump the brakes on that or maybe like William atar is it here to help and he’s ready to sign up for it uh between those two things so um I’m gonna start nice and easy I’m gonna I’m not going to go too crazy we’ll start with the the the softest launch this is good honestly because I haven’t heard I don’t think I’ve heard all of these I’ve heard some Rumblings but I try to stay away from the national media mocks and stuff so I’m interested in what we’ve got here one of them’s wild and I’ll save it for last okay um so the first one comes from danne bugler uh obviously fantastic writer many people’s favorite draft uh resource he puts out the Beast every year for the athletic crazy crazy amount the depth at which he goes in to all these Pro Prospects is awesome and he did a seven round mock draft and I’m not going to go through the whole thing but he did have us doing a slight trade up he had us trading um a first and both fourths so you keep the SI pick 60 but you trade our first and both fourths and the Bills second next year so 128 133 plus pick 28 and the Bills second next year so we’d still have our first next year we still have the Vikings second next year to move up to 17 to take Brian Thomas Jr um what does he do after that um so he ended up getting Javon Baker later on he ended up getting Cole Bishop he it it ended up being a very nice draft it was a very favorable draft um and it ended up being let me uh look while I while you Ponder some of these different pieces here I’ll look at exactly what he got well there being a double dip I like that um not giving up the second I like that this is the S so this Pat and I talked about this a lot because he was really trying to get me to do some trades and specifically to trade up I think knowing that I’m super conservative with this stuff and this was really the target for me is as much as I would love a scenario like as conservative as I am if they go up to get Roman dun then like I’m gonna be a static he’s gonna be a fantastic Pro that’s gonna make everything easy for Josh Allen I would love that but I I was saying to Eric earlier on Twitter when he was posting about I’m like I can’t even bring myself to want that like I don’t even want to think about it because I know it’s like it’s so out of the realm in my opinion of a possible move this is the kind of the one I was thinking more in the range of like that early 20s to make a move up but if it has to be at 17 he is your guy I do think if I’m banking on in that next tier of if it’s Brian Thomas Jr or ad Mitchell I think I’m going for taking the risk in both investment and and uh my time on Thomas Jr from what we’ve heard of the two prospects and the negatives about them I’m taking the risk on maybe getting the ceiling of Brian Thomas Jr versus me trying to get the ceiling out of Mitchell and so he would be the target for a trade-up like that and if it’s not him then I’m waiting and I’m just going to wait it out and maybe even a trade back uh into the end of the first round if I can’t get one of those guys so actually I think this is I think this is here to help as much as I’ve tried to pump the breakes on some of the ideas of wide receiver body types and position-less wide receivers I do think that speed and size that he offers and the potential for the ceiling is very intriguing yeah and he so just to show on the screen here for everybody listening he moved up to um it was uh Cole Bishop in the second Javon Baker falling into the fourth would be amazing um Bo limmer an interior offensive L from Arkansas then he got an edge a defensive tackle an offensive tackle and your guy Kam onal still uh in the seventh and you still walk away that’s still you know eight overall picks you’re still adding eight guys you only gave up one future pick it was I I agree I thought it was a reasonable package to go up and do and if I I go find it I think it described it here yeah picks 128 or 28 133 144 so the first fourth and fifth and next year’s second to move up to 17 so I thought that was a an interesting one to throw out there and you pitched it as here to help I do think that’s here to help yeah I would do it if we can get that tonight I would do it I I agree I I would be on board with that it’s a reasonable range you’re not sacrificing things and again with 11 picks we still walk away with eight picks like walking away with eight picks and especially still keeping the second rounder this year I was intrigued by that especially having two second rounders next year and we keep the better of the two I thought that was about as low risk of a trade up is is what I’m usually comfortable with yeah so the second one is one that I ended up uh doing a post talking about the contract work was you know what if we’re in a spot where uh Leu latu Falls or something you know Dallas Turner Falls or someone Byron Murphy someone really crazy falls and then there’s a great value in the second and they’re they’re just not in a position to grab the receiver or the double dier receiver that they expected you end up with it’s Ricky peaw at pick 60 or it’s Jaylen P at pick 60 but that’s all you walk away with and you go into day three of the draft and then maybe things fell that way and you call Denver and you offer a fourth round pick for them to eat salary of Courtland Sutton and make it palatable for them to take on Sutton and what if you walked away with the draft and it was the only additions at receiver were cland Sutton at the outside receiver and a Ricky peol Jaylen pulk Malik Washington like that Roman Wilson type guy yeah Roman like that I’ll call it third tier because I I do talk about their being a big second tier but let’s say for most people we would have missed on that second tier of receiver we don’t get a zavier Legette we don’t get um some of those buzzier names that you’re hearing around there and it’s maybe the bottom of that second tier or an early third tier receiver and a Courtland Sutton how feel about that package Denver’s eating the money yes and and it makes it fully palatable contract wise they eat $9 million let’s say in contract so we take on no future guarantees we get Courtland Sutton for $4 million for this year and we’re able to make it work pretty cleanly are you extending Sutton from there I in this scenario I’d say we’d be open to it but no commitment that we’d have to do it had a timer that were locked into it that we’d pitch him that hey you’re under contract next year for a pretty good amount anyways uh you know will be open to an extension but your value will be better coming off a year with Josh Allen than it is with you win a Super Bowl here good congrats on your next deal somewhere uh so it’s a rental for a fourth yes a rental for a fourth but they make it a rental price at a rental price yeah so honestly like I like this even I I don’t think it would happen pre draft because I think teams are kind of locked in at this I will say I do think it’s the kind of thing that would happen Saturday morning of day three sure yeah yeah no I’m saying after you saw how the first three rounds sh up until this point but even if it was to happen pre-draft it would give be a lot more flexibility in that sitting and waiting and not having to feel like he has to go make moves um I would like this I like Courtland Sutton a lot and I’m a big believer in again one I think the bills receiving core even without Stefan Diggs is pretty good I don’t think it’s as bad as it feel heals the void like that’s a big void that Stefan digs left I’m a huge Stefon digs fan I’m not trying to diminish that him leaving isn’t real but I also think that NFL wide receiver outside running back is one of the easiest position groups to turn over year over year um and so while there feels like a desperation to address wide receiver one right now because we’ve heard so much about how this is a generational class and you have to it’s so deep you got to get somebody I don’t know like it’s real in terms of replacing a Stefan Diggs it’s very much at the top end of this draft I think is a certainty the rest of these guys all have is I think they’ll all be good wide receivers I think you can put them in the room but they might be more khil shakir’s than they are Stefon Diggs U maybe some of them will be but we don’t know we do know that courland suland has NFL production and can produce at this level and I think that it could be Patchwork to throw with the Curtis Samuel and Kal Shakir and D Kain just give you those options I think that’s a very formidable offense and then you can still get one of those other guys that I think will be productive so I I think this is a here to help move and like coming back to this draft like I do think there’s some generational talent in this draft especially in the top end of it but the way we’re talking about this wide receiver class it’s good I’m not I think there’ll be plenty of good wide receivers in it but remember how we talked about the Josh Allen quarterback class and how everybody was going to be great out of that class going be five starters five yeah and good on Baker Mayfield for sort of resurrecting somewhat of his career but like it’s really Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson um out of that class so I think there’ll probably be less names that are as good as we think they’re going to be uh all these hot Buzzy names that we all like and want to add in these mock drafts not all of them are going to be guys that work out so getting a guy that we know produces for 2024 and not necessarily kicking the can down the road but knowing that you can turn over a wide receiver room year over a year I think it’s a pretty good move I think it’s here to help yeah I I thought it was about as reasonable as you can ask for um and again would it be even better if it was lad makoni and courland Sutton or Xavier Legette Sutton or of course of course that would be even better and I I wouldn’t want to do it I I would even say I don’t think I’d even open to it pre-draft I would pretty much only be interested on Saturday morning if the draft didn’t go the way we expected and that hey we did we or maybe went a different way like hey we just can’t pass on this guy at 28 this is ridic our yeah we have to be able to take this guy at pick 28 um I would want it to go that way but then I wouldn’t mind having the option you I I would prefer trading a a low pick and getting the the cost covered for courtand Sutton versus rolling the dice on a DJ CH or an Odell Beckham Jr like I know like courin Sutton I I’ve seen what he can do and can be that that kind of guy for him so how many other guys are going to be in this situation Greg that where with this class being so deep that teams that get a guy are more willing to move on from like there might be some guys out there that we’re not even thinking about that are on oneyear deals that are reporting to camp and aren’t necessarily disgruntled that become a little bit more available uh after the first couple of days of the draft because a team maybe trades up or does a move to get one of these top guys so one that I didn’t even plan on but it’s really funny it’s the almost the exact same number uh Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett only has $4.6 million of salary this year Seattle is a team that you know drafted Jackson Smith and jigman next year Tyler lockett’s 32 um like there’s very clearly a different direction long term and I don’t think they see themselves in a position of going all in this year or anything like that they’re not rebuilding but they’re you know coming up per se uh so that’s another one that would be a player like hey maybe that works out and that that’s a guy that we hear about on he just produces all the time all the time super consistent or you know even if it’s a Band-Aid guy like hey Carolina doesn’t really need Adam theland in that that way or you bring in a guy like hey he can get open Catch passes and you pair it with a rookie a bridge wide receiver yeah so you brought it up earlier I think I have gotten to the point where you know I’m okay with the Brian Thomas Jr but I I’ve been pretty staunched that like hey if I’m not trading up for one of the top three guys I’d rather just sit and make a pick and I don’t really need to risk it because I don’t know who the next best guys is if you you know there’s smart people who say lad makon is wide receiver four I’ve seen people said Jaylen pulk is wide receiver four um Xavier legat ahead of Brian Thomas Jr I just don’t know that there’s such a solidified absolutely ranking that you have to move up for one of those guys and if they see one of those guys that way that’s great but the the trade for any top three guy is going to be one of those where I’m going to be oh my God I can’t believe we gave up that much that’s way too much and then I’m going to immediately get over it because holy crap we got this guy and you know I think 90% of that buzz and discussion has been around radun because he’s the guy that people see maybe could drop to the point of where it’s a little more palatable and doable but what if we do what Rob mty at the association associate de pressed did and that we give up pick 28 and pick 60 and pick 128 and pick 160 so this year our first second a fourth and fifth next year’s first and next year’s second to go to number four for Marvin Harrison Jr I’m gonna throw up the pump the braks on this one I love I really I love Marvin Harrison Jr um I think a lot of the stuff that has been said this is he’s a great example of why draft season’s a little too long like I think he’s Larry Fitzgerald over again like he has the highest floor he like Larry fitgerald Kelvin Johnson like he’s that kind of guy he’s going to be good no matter what yeah and people want to get on him about not participating it like what participating in any of the stuff that happened after his college football season really pointless for a prospect that is as good as him like and I think we’re seeing he’s been working on getting better at football instead of working on how to run a 40 yeah no all that stuff drove me nuts and I would love and he has been training this entire time like it’s not like he’s been on vacation he’s a like we talked about KY Elum and the lineage like he his dad he knows what to do to play at this level of football like he spent his whole life to get here I’m not worried about him at all but that’s a huge amount of assets to to move up and it’s crippling and like the the even with a romad trade like the thing that really concerns me and I hate to put it on people is like you’re putting so much stock and investment into going to get one guy um that what happens if he like if this guy tweaks something in Camp and it’s like your world just comes crumbling crashing down like we thought that Von Miller ACL injury was crippling and debilitating to this roster if he misses significant time think about Sammy Watkins type of injury say he breaks his foot or something like that and then he battles years of the injuries that are associated with something like that like that is organization crippling move right there and maybe you get him and he never gets hurt and he wins multiple Super Bowls and you have the best wide receiver quarterback combo of all time like there is that world too but man the risk on that kind of move is for me I’m way too far conservative to even sniff at that one yeah I I don’t disagree but I’m gonna play devil’s advocate for a moment just to to mess around um so I think one the fact that it is a package of six picks looks like a ton but when you look at the fact that we have 11 picks this year and we’re getting pick four back you would still have eight picks we would still walk away with eight picks for this year you would still have you know our first you wouldn’t pick a ganito pick 133 our later fourth rounder um you’d still then have another fifth and two six and in the two SS and You’ still pick eight picks so we’d walk away with eight draft picks it would still be a sizable amount and the first one would be Marvin Harrison Jr uh next year we would still have the Vikings second round pick and we would still have our third multiple fourths multiple fifths we’d still have a full draft class because of the comp picks that are lined up right now uh to come through plus the digs trade we still have a second rounder so we’d still have a you know 40th to 45th pick and then thirds two fours two fifths um so it’s we would still have a full draft class this year with eight picks we would still have a full draft class next year with seven or even eight picks um so it’s it’s in a position where it’s it’s an obscene to give up it’s it’s a crazy mon to give up it’s the pi themselves though it’s the premium assets it is all high-end players of what’s there but the chance is if you go back and I could build you a package of those kind of picks where the players selected were Kyer Elum and Boogie Basham and Cody Ford and that what if it’s those picks that you just traded for Marvin Harrison Jr and of course we don’t want that to be the case and hopefully it’s not um he is as close to a sure thing as I can remember like I the chance of him busting especially the chance of him busting playing with Josh Allen is so low I I it’s crazy it’s an obscene amount to give up of it’s not going to happen that’s not going to be what takes place here but I think i’ still over I think it’s so good over watch Marvin Harrison Jr highlights for a day straight to your point I would love to have him on this roster and in the City of Buffalo like I’m not trying to pump the brakes on that at all to like if you can add a I mean Larry Fitz J’s big production to but if you could add a player that you know is going to produce at that level for the entirety of his career yeah I would love it um but yeah maybe those picks are Boogie Basham and Cody Ford and some of those things but I do I think the Bills roster is in a place where they just offloaded so much and they have a lot of young talent but it isn’t always necessarily Premier Talent there’s a lot of good depth there’s gonna like I don’t think you’re GNA get that Premier edge here and we’re kind of hoping Von Miller works out for a year and you might have to Target that in a in a high round pick going forward next year I just see too many potential future needs to lose out on the premium side of the picks where like yeah you’re keeping you’re going to get those eight draft picks but but and be is hit on some fifth rounders and stuff like that but you’re banking on hitting on the back end of the draft to continue to fill out your roster and that I don’t know it just it scares me man I don’t know I’m pumping The Brak still like I would love to add Harrison but uh I don’t know I can’t get myself there I can’t think like that it’s an obscene amount it’s a crazy crazy amount I will say for the people asking would Arizona take that I I do think that’s the kind of package of two first two seconds a fourth and a fifth I think that’s the kind of package it would take to be able to move move up to do that but um yeah I it’s it’s a crazy crazy uh scenario to to play out so yeah um so again uh thank you to our awesome Partners over at William matar remember you know Hur in a car call William matar you see the phone number you know they’re fantastic commercials we’re so excited to be working with them uh throughout the 2024 season they’re going to be fantastic uh you know partners for us to be a part of and and can’t be happier to have them as our new presenting sponsor of cover one Buffalo yeah man are we ready for our final mock draft here of the uh draft season yeah and I think we’re just gonna package all of our picks from Marvin Harrison Jr and get out of here I’m clicking the buttons you can’t stop me so uh all right let’s get this ready here we’re gonna go up we’re g to go through here uh while we’re getting this ready I do want to give some Pub uh for anybody who didn’t see Dane bugler that we used the the Beast was on with Anthony prohaska great Gap by Anthony to get him on this time of year crazy crazy busy time year for for danne and uh aun got him on to be able to go through um all of the different things he had prepared for so check that out and on Sunday night I’m going to be bringing in a list of all kinds of different content creators from around uh the NFL representing every single team so we’re gonna have a 32gm live mock draft we’re going to go through four rounds two minutes a pick uh live trades all along all Sunday night going through our kind of last exercise getting you ready for the draft just like Aaron and I are going to do right now and speaking of Dane uh I thought air8 hour till and Steve did a really cool exercise where um I know recently there was some uh tweets about people not caring about people’s mock drafts anymore but they are fun exercise for I think both fans and us as creators to kind of just talk avilable what what these scenarios look like and talking that stuff out but they did one with the Beast uh board and how he puts out the boards instead of doing a mock draft on a Mock Draft simulator they did their mocks based on where the boards were asend uh from the Beast I think that was a cool way to switch it up a little bit it it can be hard to the point of that tweet it can be hard a little bit this time of year to find ways to make content that are draft and mock draft related I thought it was a very creative way to take a good piece of content and do a mock but not based on the boards on PFF or the boards on pro football network uh so shout out to the air raid guys if you haven’t listen into that one that was good and I I absolutely love David Tilton’s draft in that one based on Dan Dane’s board there oh yeah no he yeah Dave played the hits he got checked a lot of the boxes of the guys that we like here so um all right we’re ready I’m gonna click Start uh I’m gonna wait and see oh R’s gone right there and that I I think this is wait the Joe Al one is a little crazy he went over Harrison Jr here but uh the fact that the receivers went four five and six I think that’s way closer to reality that I don’t even think we’re going to have the chance to see them around the 9 10 11 pick that a lot of people have speculated that’s the like crazy leap up space we would go to sure um I I don’t think that’s even going to be in play because I think it’s GNA be just like this where adun Harrison and neighbors all go four five six seven range uh and go very very quickly yeah Jaden Daniels falling to 11 that’s interesting I still am so mad at PFF for not fixing they I love that they do a Mock Draft simulator I love that it’s available but the fact that when we pause this we can’t see the board drives me see the like they’re all smart dudes they can’t they are doing these mocks don’t they know anyways yeah uh so uh look we we we worked out pretty well uh lad makoni went right before the pick chop Robinson went right before the pick Cooper Dee DS Turner falling to 22 would be interesting yeah Byron Murphy 80 Mitchell so this is a spot where I think the people 17 yeah in the camp of hey you need to trade up I will say once you get to pick 17 on here Brian Thomas Jr Graham Barton Byron Murphy ad Mitchell Dallas Turner Cooper deine I don’t know about Wiggins or gon chop robins and lad makoni that’s a lot of guys who I think would have been on our board and in position to be picked here so I think the the spot that would come up for us is is Johnny Newton a strong enough value at D tackle that we would want to take him we have Jackson Powers Johnson still there is that Fraser in play here Frasier Tyler nubin I think a lot of those guys you know would be or we go to whatever our board is of the top receiver with wherever Legette Franklin Coleman you know the wherever those guys rank um so first let me know your thoughts on Newton or maybe off the board like a kid mckinstry or Powers Johnson or Frasier and then we’ll look at the trade offers of who’s interested in moving up I don’t hate Newton I I really don’t and it’s obviously it’s probably the need that just doesn’t get talked about enough because uh the wide receiver need uh but I think at per our conversation before we might have the Sutton trade in our back pocket if we totally miss out here um and and so that gives me a little bit more Liberty here um and talking to Pat Moran he was saying he doesn’t do Source stuff but he does have sources that the bills are way higher on Troy Franklin um maybe not round one but he was saying they’re very high on him I don’t love that personally he’s not a guy that I’m super high on but if for the sake of talking through this exercise if they were real high on him here I could see him doing that and just getting it done here but if it was between the two for me and we don’t want to go address offensive line right here I would take Newton and fill that need and fill that need going forward but the only problem is is it’s primarily three Tech and you got one of the best in the business uh in at Oliver at three Tech I if I’m going to address interior defensive line I’d much rather it be a guy that can help out with Dian Jones and take on that role going forward into the future so where you at right now with it you can make a case that a Plick Newton won he plays in this 20 25% of snaps when Oliver is not on the field you know because obviously Oliver is not gonna be 100% last year he played like 68 in the you know in the games he played in the playoffs he’d even got up to the lower 70 75% so say that’s 25 28% of his snaps we also have to remember being able to have a two pass rushers at three Tech on the obvious passing Downs is good can help a great deal when dayquon Jones and uh Austin Johnson wouldn’t be on the field so I think that can be another 25% and all of a sudden that is 50% of the snaps 55% of the snaps that I think a strong one Tech kind of like when we were putting together how would this work with Eric Armstead when we had already added those other guys and you basically turn it into three guys playing 60 65% of the snaps and that kind of covers the 200% of the two spots there that’s in play who’s trying to trade with us so the three offers pick 55 which I think is too far yeah pick 45 which is right at the borderline but probably too far and pick 35 which I love I I think that’s a sweet spot because it really makes sense from a value standpoint we get to 35 and pick up a third um I think so let’s uh let’s poke around and see what they if we wanted their third pick 71 we give them pick 28 and we might have to kick back the Green Bay pick one of our fifths maybe a little extra something like that we probably have to give up some of the later picks but we could at least get the third for like a six two a fifth and six something like that I don’t hate that I’m still on board of like how do I finagle myself into the most top 100 players if I’m not gonna get a go up and get a top wide receiver how do I walk out of this draft with the most in the top 100 so I don’t don’t totally hate that and I think we could get one of these guys that’s still on our board here at 35 or maybe in a receiver here want to try that one sure sure all right they took it they took it so we now pick we get back into this third round we got pick 71 we gave up a fifth and a sixth uh to be able to get that third rounder uh for there which I think is about right value that’s not like we don’t get the fifth year option we just gave up a fifth year option but these aren’t premium spots that we were looking at either so those picks from there went Jackson pow Johnson Adisa Isaac Johnny Mitchell Kool-Aid mckinstry pton Wilson and Michael penck Jr so now like for where your comments were maybe that is Troy Franklin you have Zack Frasier here on the board or or whatever our choice would be at receiver dropping back to 35 and then being able to take a guy that whoever our top choic is really int yeah is intriguing to me I my vote would be Legette yeah um I really like that spot four more guys want to trade up here Tennessee wants to move up from pick 38 um I would in this situation if it’s my vote um I would say Frasier or Legette would be one of those options for me uh here and I’d be happy with either one yeah I think so the interesting part is it it does give us you have a little bit more there in in where that spot is I I don’t mind maybe even being able to move up from 60 depending on which receivers were floating there um I would almost be tempted to drop a little bit more from with Tennessee what op what they would want I I don’t know we could get back like a 106 move up from 133 or or one of those to be able to get a a spot like that that that’s not not too bad I would yeah all right let’s do that and then we’ll roll the dice one more time we don’t lose out on Frasier and then we have the ammo to move up and still get Legette we’re going the opposite way of what bills Mafia wants in terms of oh L to they jump there dude charger justed away with Marvin Harrison Jr and Xavier Xavier yeah but this is the risk of what happens when you try to get cute and you try to be able to make multiple moves you now get in a position so this would be where let’s take Frasier here we lock up that center of the future we’re able to move McGovern back to guard we now have Collins you have a top seven draft your top seven offensive line locked in we have Frasier next to Osiris torren for the next decade every everybody’s happy that that’s a lovely spot to be in and I’m going to let it go a couple spots here gone Coleman’s gone Franklin’s gone this is what happens this is what happens this is why we can’t have nice things Yep this is why we can’t have nice things yeah Twitter us yeah you immediately lose on pulk Coleman Franklin now we have to trade for courland Sutton when it gets to the fourth round yep uh but um also again y PFF needs to have the board available to us while we’re paused yeah how this was going yeah you could we could have had the receivers rank there and be able to go through and and figure out what the next spot is now we got a lot of picks for nothing now we get nothing this is why we can’t have nice things all right so it’s really funny this is almost the exact scenario that I described in my pitch to you about when we would trade for courland Sutton is we end up with Ricky piol and we end up with courton Sutton as our two picks also would be happy with Chris Jenkins here if it’s not piol I know the need to get a wide receiver is going to be feeling that at this point um well remember we had picked 71 as well I was gonna say you still got Javon Baker uh corle I like all I like Baker probably the most of the guys here sure so it would be rolling the dice could we get him at pick 71 and be able to walk away with Chris J I think Chris Jenkins is a better football player than Piera and I like Pier all a lot um and I think Chris Jenkins actually fits that need that we have a little bit more boom let’s take a let’s go ahead and get Javon Baker so now we survived this a little bit and got through now we walked away with Zack Frasier is our center of the future we got Chris Jenkins who is has that exact description you made where he’s kind of like a young DeQuan Jones where he can be able to make a a real impression on you know what he’s able to do both from a one Tech but also press the pocket and pass rush from that side of it as well um I think that’s an interesting spot to be in I agree yeah I know I like that a lot cam kitchens would be pretty come back with Cam kitchens I like that what else are we looking at let’s see so we got kitchens Smith vaky Bishop a lot of people I do like Bishop a lot um let’s see we didn’t tou we didn’t touch anything with Edge yet I I do like mohammd kamaro that’s interesting um but we’ve got some picks coming up we still got 12 13 106 I am I am G to pick 133 I think we need to plan to move to Denver for Courtland Sutton so we’ve got 106 okay sure um and then we would go back so I I who do you like the most I I think we should probably snag one of these safeties here while we can I think there’s some people who have Bishop ahead of kin I I think they’re not far off I don’t think they’re as far off as this list is for PFF and even as much as I like Malik Mustafa I think Bishop is quite a bit ahead of him for me and just feels like a Bill’s fit and that the bills could get the most out of that athleticism um Kim Kitchens also is very intriguing uh I think I would still go with Bishop I know yeah I’m Tire I’m I’m torn on it’s gonna show up as a reach we’re going to get a bad grade if we make that move here um but that’s again playing D the mock yeah it’s all it’s all relative and how how it goes through here um let’s go with kitchens I I think that we haven’t done it yet yeah I think that that’s one that you know still makes some sense and I I think has some some value for I’d love to see Mustafa make it to us here at this pick or sorry not Mustafa um the yeah Muhammad Kamar like he watching more of him he really does look like a lot of those other like short stocky like the Elvis doville type um and even um who just went from the Eagles to the Jets reck uh yeah Hassan reic went to Colorado State and is built just like him uh they’re it’s just you don’t see a lot of guys like that he’s like short and stocky but super powerful and quick and I I think that he is going to be able to play um but I know you like to look at the double dip too I do like a double dip I don’t know that you’re gonna get it here um I and we miss Malik Washington who’s who I love producer Chris is screaming at us at the screen that we should take here um which the bills had him in for a top 30 visits so there they did that is an opportunity would there be it’s they probably can’t do it because of the way the roster they did in free agency of a double dip at safety and bringing in a Cole bishop and just I I do think that’s absolutely possible Rock in your safety tandem we’ve replaced puer and Hyde in a single draft and this is what we’re going to rock for the next five years or four or five years um certainly potential I say I’m gonna throw you a bone and I think I’m willing to you you’ve let me take a lot of Michigan guys so if you want to take your edge here I I do it once we get past here it’s really hard to find guys that like like Michigan uh Jaylen Harold I like um I think that but that’s a big project guy I think he did it for let’s try mamar I think he has a very strong likelihood of making the roster and is in a good position let’s see if I can do this can you just void the pick yeah I’m gonna go with no no I’m gonna trade it to the Denver Broncos for oh you can do for players I didn’t even see for I’m gonna trade it for courland Sutton and even if it says it won’t be accepted I’m gonna trust that Ben Albright knows uh Denver better than simulator get out of here early um we just here you got all the rest of the picks all right so we’ve now traded uh our second fourth rounder to the Denver Broncos who now ate9 million in salary C Cole bishop’s still there at 144 hard not to we have to double dip now I mean you just he’s too good not to not to be able to take yeah I mean what other needs vial but he’ll still be there in a little bit yeah um I guess Luke mcaffry although we just traded for Portland Sutton so we probably can’t add receiver receiver um um yeah no take Cole bishop and figure it out later yeah all these other pieces we can find free agents and the chat is telling us the chat wants us to do it all right now let’s look at who’s there if there’s a running back we have come but I’ve saw some stuff on Dyan L as like a receiving back and and has some some interesting skills Frank G Frank Gore Jr I know kamani Bal is your guy like that I was gonna say if if I get a trump card in in this one we did miss out on Corner well mcl’s still there nemiah pritchet is another guy like too that has some Corner versatility Devonshire obviously checks all the bills boxes I’m real torn between only two picks left and one of them’s a ways off so anybody that we really want this is our last spot I guess here’s the conversation you and I got to have real quick is uh running back three more of a priority then cornerback four potentially cornerback three we don’t know yeah and I would say there’s as good of a chance that a running back drafted on day three could become rb2 is there a better there’s a better chance of a running back being drafted on day three becoming running back two than there is a day three Corner becoming quarterback three I would say then I I would pound the table them for Vidal right here okay I like it I like it we’ll we’ll go kamani Vidal it’ll make Dave till happy too I like he’s done more work this week I know he was the he came out number one on that in-game athleticism testing with like the artificial intelligence speed tracking that they’ve been doing which I’m super interested to learn more about because I’ve heard that that’s what NFL teams are doing is that they have this AI application that watches every the all 22 of every single college game and does the tracking yeah of how much their ingame athleticism acceleration speed cutting how much that translates and Compares it between all the players and that the teams are leaning into that more than the you know stereotypical combine testing and things like that and I want to learn more about that that interests me that that is an interesting so two things on that uh on the beast on D buers the Beast he talked about Videl he has Videl as like a seventh rounder and one of the reasons is is that play speed and I totally disagreed with him there when I watched the place beat it it almost reminds me of which this is going to sound bad to Bills fans but it almost reminds me of Devin single ter in that Deon single ter didn’t feel fast he tested poorly but he actually broke off tons of explosive runs like he was always 15 20 yard runs yes and there was a chat that uh producer Chris had brought up here it was from Elvis saying he’s Videl is not a PowerBack right here Elvis no not to call you out here man but he is very much a short yardage PowerBack and he’s not big but he’s shaped like a bowling ball almost and he in he’s like 57 two 209 or whatever that and in FBS he led the FBS in or uh he led college football in uh uh yards after contact and so like he can definitely get down get his pads down and he has great contact balance yeah two he’s 5’8 218 like the dude can definitely get some short yard it’s actually like 5 seven yeah it really is more like 5 seven um there are no cornerbacks left that I’ve heard of AJ Woods I don’t hate okay I mean he went to pit so that automatically automatically qualif yeah um you know Andrew Coker is that J Josiah zerum there’s you know I’m with any lanky tackle yeah um I would take Kenny Logan Jr but we already got two safeties we have no more space for safeties uh it’s really funny so this um lri Griffin is a guy that I’ve read a little bit about as far as like kick return and punt return sure more important than ever you know so that’s maybe something with the new um and his nickname’s Tulu I I like Tulu because he was always getting too loose when other teams chose to kick I kind of like that so yeah that that would be my seventh round flyer is that we take a kick return in lyat trick Griffin all right this draft got a little hairy for a second but I think we walked off with a ho it ended up so as as uh much as I think we’re still going to get crushed because of course we are um the internet’s going to yell at us but every day the fact that we did turn this into Zack Frasier so center of the future defensive tackle like the fact that we’re gonna Ed Oliver next to each other forever we got Javon Baker and courland Sutton cam kitchens and Cole Bishop Muhammad Kamar Kam you want know what the internet can yell at me I don’t care the internet can yell at me I I feel pretty good about this I gotta be honest I feel I feel a lot better about this than I won’t lie that stretch when we lost all the receivers in the middle of the second I I I threw up in my mouth a little bit but I think we did good I think this is a good draft yeah I I don’t know that we can swing the corland suton trade but if we can that definitely patches some of that feeling of not walking away with one of those receivers so I’m happy with everything else though I do think that you’ve built a solid core and no matter what anyone wants to say the trenches matter in football that that cliche that it all starts up front games are one in the trenches is time tested no matter how the NFL changes that matters I think Javon Baker when you pair him with getting cland Sutton that’s the perfect Bridge opportunity for him to develop because I do think he can develop into a really good power slot X Type guy I think he can do multiple things for you and still be productive in 2024 and then addressing your safety position with kitchens and Bishop after you just lost puyer and Hyde and knowing that no team gets more out of DBS than the Buffalo Bills do I think that they will both be able to hit their ceilings I think Videl could come in Bruce Nolan and I were talking offline about videll saying like what’s the one way young running backs get involved if you’re a late round pick and it’s pass blocking and and making yards after contact and it’s going to be hard to keep a guy like that off the field so I think hit throughout in a draft like this so I’m actually real happy with this one yeah yeah I I uh for as anxious as I was as it was going on this ended up being good and I got to give a shout out here uh I saw the comment uh that we didn’t Panic you know we let it come to us you know danderson here uh we didn’t Panic we let the draft come to us and we ended up okay and I think we got luckily we had nothing to actually lose if this wi yeah correct I can’t get fired because of this draft uh so uh it was very easy to just be like screw let’s trade back again yeah um but if we ended up adding this kind of combination I would feel really really good about this outcome okay all right cool and you know after this adding two guys like Javon Baker and courand Sutton this is one where you could go be like ah screw it let’s sign Hunter rro just add a little bit more you know have another guy who can get open in the slot catch the ball be able to do some things that way yeah I still I also am still a believer that guys are going to shake off rosters as it’s going on Brandon Bean talked about in a press conference before saying like we don’t know what there’s multiple ways to add assets to a team we’re not going to stop building they’re G to free up some money with Trey white coming through you’re going to sign this draft class there’ll be some assets and money to play with so he wouldn’t be done adding Beyond this uh my only request is don’t tag me when you post this no I’m just kidding I don’t care tag me all right so um again you know last fun exercise here uh tonight’s show was a lot of fun you know presented by guys 1. Please elaborate on the Josh Allen and the off season dedication remark. On Shakir, he was the Boise State offense , Allen trusts him he has produced. I'm looking at Shorter now, it took Shakir a season to learn, this is Shorter's second season with Allen.

  2. Make no mistake…Diggs screwed us royally. We bent over backwards to appease him from day 1 and prevent his juvenile temper tantrums. Shame on us for getting involved. Clearly there is no keeping him happy. He's a high-maintenance disloyal woman. He bitched about no longer being a top-paid WR 2 years into his contract so we extended him early and gave him a $16 mm signing bonus. We had to let Mitch go to compensate for the Diggs extension. Then he forces a trade before year 1 even begins. Worst possible timing. He walks away with our money and sticks us with the cap hit when we were already hamstrung. Now we have neither Diggs nor Mitch and we don't have enough money or space to replace him. Now we MUST hit on WR in the draft to be viable. If we stay put at 28, the WR choices suck…we need to pivot and go heavy on Defense. If the first round proves heavy WR and 4 QBs, that will push strong Defensive talent down to us. I'm hoping we get Latu in the first and whatever decent WR is left in the 2nd. If we're not going up after one of those top WRs, we better pay up for Aiyuk or Higgins. Otherwise we need to come to terms that this is a rebuild year and we probably won't be in the playoffs.

  3. Doesn't matter who they draft, McDermott's a head case & Beane makes moves that would get most GM's fired.
And neither one of them.knows anything about offense.

  4. I think James Cook has a lot of pressure on him this season considering he was top in the league yards before contact (good o-line play) and bottom of the league yards after contact. Along with the fumbles and drops, I would love to see a high ceiling draft pick at RB.

  5. watched Beane's presser and he talked about regrets in Carolina when they traded away first round pick for the following year. They would look at each other the following year and say, yeah, we could've had this player. Nothing about Beane would surprise me, but it seems unlikely he would give a way a first round pick for 2025.

  6. I feel Beane has already demonstrated with the level of roster change that he (with the owner's blessing) is "all in" to pursue a higher post-season performance this season. Following this win-now strategy, I see Beane moving up in Round 1 to grab the WR who the Bills feel is the best fit with JA17 (not necessarily who ranks highest on the standard metrics).

  7. WR is this yrs LB. Leggett is this yrs Jack Campbell. All these channels' mocks have him. We're gonna actually draft the WR version of Dorian Williams in the 4th rd.

  8. Bills need to stay away from AD Mitchell by a country mile. He has Diabetes and doesn’t take care of it like he should due to his young immaturity. Stay away from him, let the Chiefs draft him and have Mahomes argue with him on the sidelines about him not taking care of his Diabetes.

  9. If we stay at 28 and 60 …it has to be the receiver that we grade highest as they'll be gone at 60. We need a pre draft trade to acquire another 2nd and a 3rd…whatever it takes

  10. love how u aren't that marino guy– who has a mic in his face- for a whole podcast! thank you from toronto–appreciate your professionalism from a visual perspective xoxoxo

  11. There is only 1 thing that scares me about marvin Harrison jr is marivin Harrison sr. I could see him pumping the brakes on his son going to buffalo snd trying force their way out before he gets there or soon after
