Which Club Do You Hit Out Of The Sand? – Scottie Scheffler Asks Tiger Woods

Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods discuss club selection out of the bunker and what technique’s they use when getting out of the sand.
This video is before Scottie Scheffler wins the 2024 Masters so they are joking about Scottie only winning one.
Both are wizards at getting out to the sand and it is interesting that they both have very different techniques.

[Music] what club do you normally hit bunker shots with typically a 60 typically 60 if you had hit a long bunker shot would you go to like a pitching wedge or eight iron I’d go all the way down to nine irons where it’s kind of pushing I’d never used an eight okay but I’ll go all the way down to about a nine okay um but for something like this this short usually a 60 for me what you uh I’d like a 56 myself um I grew up with without a 60 so you know i’ like I’m just used to having that face open on my 56 all the time M and I found that when the Sands gets heavier then my 60 doesn’t work just goes too deep goes too deep yeah um firm standand like this would you still always 56 I still would hit 56 I just wouldn’t hit it as hard but I would I get more squatty so see it so a normal bunker shot I’d be here if I normal bunker shot being like one to that pin going to that pin uh say the second pin I’d be here now if I had to hit one to the front pin I drop my hands a little lower I really do like dropping my right leg back to feel the hook to feel the hook in it to be able be able to get my release there like that when you’re when you turn through you turning like cuz I know some people will kind of stay planted yeah will you turn through I turn through always but I I never used to but now that my back is fused it does just goes I can’t stop it but like a shot like this you’ll get real wide I get real wide wide wide stance hands back you made that look easy it’s okay that’s why the Master’s Champion how many times have you wi the Masters a couple just a few just one jacket though you only get one jacket you only get one um all right tight pen what would you do here buddy if you had you had a good lie so this is pretty good lie yep same thing as you I’ll try and get wide and last year I started working on getting further away from it cuz for me it was hard to get my hands lower it was easier if I just said like a regular bunker shot say I’m here yep I’ll kind of get in here like this a little further way yep plus you’re so tall so it’s it’s hard to get all the all the way down right get your hands low I mean this one’s kind of a hard one for me to feel but yeah really far away handle back and then like you said just try and basically throw it at the B correct yep just use the bottom try and get it underneath it damn that was good

  1. I mean if Tiger is willing to teach, I don't know why as a current healthy golfer you wouldn't be scheduling time with him. He's basically the best golfer to ever play the sport (maybe outside of Jack). There's nothing wrong with trying to improve your game and learn from one of the best.

  2. I watch these videos and then go out to the golf course with new enthusiasm. Four hours later I leave the golf course realizing that I'm not Tiger or Scottie or anywhere near par.

  3. Man I wish the sand traps at the courses I play look like that,
Please give us some tips on getting out of hard packed mud that plays like a cart path
