courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in 2022 a loving husband father son brother and friend to so many Scott brightened the lives of those around him Scott graduated from Armor high school in 1994 during this time in armor Scott excelled academically as well in athletics he was named to the 9B Allstate team as a linebacker the academic All State team and was named to the All Conference team for three years years he was a member of the National Honor Society peer helpers and his church youth group he was faithful member of his church and was active in his community After High School Scott went on to attend college and received an associate applied science degree in telecommunications from Mitchell Technical Institute that degree would eventually lead us to Springfield where we would settle down and raise a family Springfield seemed to be a perfect fit for Scott as many of you know Scott was an avid Outdoorsman he loved camping with family ands friends fishing golfing and of course hunting for the big buck little did the town of Springfield and surrounding communities know that at the time he was a perfect fit anyone that got to know Scott or be around him at all quickly found out how great of a guy he was Scott was never quick to judge and could often win you over with his infectious smile and laugh a cheesy joke or a random act of kindness whether it be a friend neighbor or a complete stranger Scott was always there to help others he always made everybody feel like somebody Scott was an active member of the Springfield Fire Department and was the treasurer he was a secretary of our church diligently helped with the annual Springfield 4th of July celebrations and was always available to help with anything and everything that was needed in our community Scott would have wanted his legacy of helping others to continue to live on this is why we chose to establish a scholarship to help local seniors who are pursuing their education at either a 2-year Technical Institute or a 4-year College University it is our hope that this will also Inspire our youth to pay it forward with kindness and helpfulness throughout their F Futures Justice Scott did his entire life the scholarship was open to the entire state of South Dakota um the Scott lipot Memorial members of the board um asked that all students wrote an essay in that essay they needed to discuss how they were involved in their Community explain their character and their accomplishments in high school discuss how their character has contributed to those accomplishments but most importantly we
