extended period of time maybe the season Cinders Moses yes the dreaded Cinders Moses I know and at the moment so I noticed the wa State team was out you know the waffle State team they’re playing a game in Perth and so we had Charlie kable lined up there Aaron Clark at full forward he’s got an ankle Sam Simpson from jalong he’s got a hammy Jack Avery foot injury so yeah mate that’s footy isn’t it you just all the best plans that you lay and everything sorts looks good and then bang that’s footy mate it’s a great leveler uh all the best to Charlie and all any player who out there injured actually uh a a great weekend barer um some some interesting results jalong still undefeated at the top of the ladder but with some challenges uh it’s always a good weekend in which we honor those who lost their lives for our country defending it um and to our current vets men and women uh and I thought we did a pretty bloody good job of it oh yeah the Len Hall game here was spectacular I love the way they line up with the players side by side both teams I know did you did you have you heard the story about Len Hall the actual love story behind yes have you heard have you heard that you remind me I never I had never heard that and obviously they picked Len hall because he was a galipoli veteran the last galipoli veteran uh in wa and um he also fought with uh what’s his name the famous Arabian so Lawrence of Arabia yeah Lawrence of Arabia so he fought in Palestine with Lawrence of Arabia as well as well as being a machine gunner at goip he survived that but there was this amazing story cuz he he went to war at 16 L of them did can you believe obviously lot of them lied about their age lied about his age so he’s at the warf at 16 I think it’s 19 1915 right and he’s going to to World War I and remember those hats they used to wear the acuas with the and they used to have the um was it an emu plume or something a feather light Horseman used to wear that one or yeah yeah so he was a light Horseman yep was what was the plume was it an emu not sure what it was from emu feather or whatever it was so what so he’s at the warf right this is no bull Trang in free man and he gives his plume out of his out of his hat out of his Aubra to a young girl that he sees um I think her name was might have been Unice or something like that and cuz you know he’s leaving for war he may not be back so might as well pretty girl I’ll give her this W before I leave three three years later he comes back right back to Western Australia and and about 20 years older probably yeah and he survived the war so he survives galip he survives Palestine fighting with Lawrence of Arabia Lawrence of Arabia no prisoner have you seen that movie Lawrence of Arabia a long time ago yeah and um who was the actor in that one too pet Peter oour remember he’s he’s got the uh shak’s outfit on and no presenters you don’t remember that no I do remember coming back to you now anyway so he’s in the parade and this young girl from West Australia comes up and goes uh excuse me Mr hore uh you gave this to me three years ago I’ve still got it how are you and guess what they got mared two years later married two kids she only she only passed away in 1995 and that was the Love Story years after been away what a story nice to start the podcast with a a nice love story yeah that’s right from the War uh and but of course uh second game in we had a draw and uh which stirred a lot of provoked a lot of debate sred you up mate I notice extra time in a in a home in away game you’ve come away with a very left of field two minutes suggestion two minutes yeah just just to explain to because I I’ll just say I would have thought that you need to have a result so the most of the debate was around let’s have a result right and I think 90% of people said we’d we’d like to have a result but not g quartermain quain has decided oh no if it’s two minute that’s it then you have a draw after that I’m just thinking so my point was it’s not going to affect the broadcasters because you need you can’t prolong the game too long thanks for looking after us too mate broadcasters pay a lot of money to make sure the game runs mate it’s not really at the front Forefront also my employers but uh that that game had so much in the last quarter you know in the the dying moments you had Langford missing uh you had my Che missing you had Elliott who’d been wonderful taking the mark of the decade all of those elements and they and it’s they still couldn’t separate and people said ah well that’s fine you couldn’t separate No Nonsense we need another layer of drama and two minutes so no interchange you toss the coin in case there’s a win Factor it won’t take a second toss the coin you’re off get into your 666 and off you go um now 2 minutes is a long time in footy particularly when you’re fatigued at the end of the game so you’d think you get a result but if you don’t that’s fine just walk away you have a draw but it’s just another layer of theater why not why not I don’t mind it but it’s just the fact that there’s no still no result that’s all right after extra time that’s all right that’s all right what what made you think of no result uh well I didn’t it’s not a no result you’re getting an extra 2 minutes I think it would be unlikely you see with the 666 you can’t just pack stack your backline so the center clearance would be the next Center clearance is crucial so I think that you know you more than likely get a result in those two minutes but if you don’t well you can’t say you didn’t try bar yeah I suppose you could say that what I like about it is at least you know what’s going to happen so you can plan for it train for it all that sort of stuff I loved loved Brad Scott’s uh commentary after the game on got k lford out there and said right did you get your setup right yep did you kick did you get did you get your everything your mental aspect right yep got everything right well no problems then you just you just didn’t execute I like that it’s it’s telling all his teammates no we didn’t do anything wrong here it’s just sometimes it doesn’t work but as long as you stay with your routine always good when the coach doesn’t can you that’s for sure but still you’d go to bed you wouldn’t be able to sleep cuz you you know you could have won the game on Anzac M would be thinking the same thing Jamie ellot would be thinking although he was not as much as K I think he would have won the game yeah there’s no question about it so I like what you’re doing but I would say so it’s 3 minutes each way now isn’t it for finals and stuff yeah so why wouldn’t you just go with 3 minutes each way like the finals why would you have a separate two minute for too long for the broadcasters so in in finals you’re not not too long in finals well you generally don’t have backto back to you sometimes you do in in in the preceding final certainly not in the Grand Final you don’t and should it be different from the finals I think the way it’s so uh yeah yeah that’s okay and now people have thr up all sorts of arguments like the extra percentage you get for that that yeah all the left of few there’s a lot of you know so but I just think it’s uh it’s worth considering uh why not have it a bit different that’s right it was a good talking point certainly I think the new boss would like that too three minutes each way is what happens in the finals so probably you need to if you’re going to go extra time adopt that my view would be if it was up to me I would have just gone with Golden Goal yeah not golden Point like in soccer and everything else or not bad I thought about Golden point I don’t like penalty I don’t like shootouts or golden I don’t know it’s not a shootout it’s it’s the first one to score after that period so but uh I two minutes because I reckon if you I just reckon C the center clearance it gives the other team an opportunity to fight back with the with the team but then you do get the old but they had the wind and all that sort of stuff so you the coin M I’m not trying to I’m not trying to you know run down your idea but but the golden point cuz points aren’t rated in footy are they points are like you’re you know you’ve missed you’re a loser so it’s you can’t really win for a point he drew the game now what I’m saying is yeah what I’m saying is yeah but it’s not you’re really trying to kick goals AR so maybe Golden Goal Golden Goal would be cool first one to score a goal wins the game but it’s really it should be three minutes each way I suppose but it should change surely it’s go because it’s like dancing with his sister isn’t it it’s flat you know afterwards you go or you know when you dance with your sister this is can I just can I just we thankfully so finals I think was early ’90s and it was the Grand Final was a bit later um and it’s it’s great that they have I was at 77 calling North Melbourne and it was the draw and it was the first Grand Final I ever attended so I’m 11 I still feel ripped off all these years later I remember turning you but no I didn’t have a team I was Hawthorne so I was in the Hawthorne cheese Squad they didn’t playing 77 no we were in the preliminary final but what happens is get tickets anyway if you you go a b so why did you feel ripped off your team wasn’t in um because I because it was my first Grand Final I was really excited for the game and it was a great game Twiggy D takes the mark and you know like which is I was pretty close to that leaning over the fence banging on it and um but you get to come back for this no I didn’t but but because it’s hard to get a ticket but I felt I turned to someone next to him it might have been my brother I turned and said oh what what’s happened well it’s a draw what do you mean do I see the cup no no no it’s all over I just felt like I felt really flat and I remember the train trip home on the old belgrave lale line platform 10 at Richmond station I remember going home and everyone went on the train it was silence everyone was didn’t know what to do and so I just from that day on I sort of I think you need you’ve answered your own question the innocent young Glenn has answered the question you need a result you cuz it’s crazy otherwise I mean it’s only really Cricket where you don’t get result any other every other sport you get a result don’t you well I was at the underarm too except I left early cuz it was hot to jump off the underarm you remember that I left early that day to jump off the princess Bridge cuz it was about 38° I missed the underarm what was the result on the in the underarm well um Australia won because they could needed a six off the last ball yeah yeah all so you reckon you’re just saying cuz he cheated bowling underarm and they change the rules against the spirit and all the rules do change didn’t actually cheat cuz it was within the rules it was against the spirit of the game but we digress but look um Foo let’s talk about Foo um I thought it was a good win Bearer I thought it was in high intensity game I thought it was a tough game both players had key outs I thought Whitman was huge for the dogs because he gets at the feet of those talls I thought that freem manal did really well to adjust when they lost uh Draper given that they had you know the three TOS down there uh the Western Bulldog so I thought it was a really good win I got to say I mean has come straight back in I think he’s back in this week bar but I thought they look really good with Voss up front and great game from Josh will you you got to replace it with Amos really I mean you’ve got to you can’t keep CAC State no you can’t which is unfortunate because I thought he’s really good I kicking’s not super so now he’s brought in the handall and even underground hand balls and not taking on the the the uh the opposition anymore getting hurt so well he’s the extractor isn’t he he gets the ball out but he hand balls it he doesn’t try to break tackles hand balls and I hadn’t seen him do it that much um and so 37 possessions 15 disposals at quarter time eight score involvements by the main break he was maybe he was best on ground Caleb 17 clearances freem manal record and your man barley Banfield got up in turned the corner yep and owed him a couple to be quite Frank cuz he missed a couple of the previous two weeks but fair you know the great thing yeah the good thing about his game he went back at some stage he and um omir were playing in defense at some stage and um then he swings forward and kicks three2 in the last quarter you know pivotal uh so well under B bfield hey there’s one thing I did also well said wanted to mention was um I don’t think Luke Jackson is playing as well as the second banana mhm so play him up on Wing I think they’ve still got a problem play on a wing mate I’ve been do you think the same thing that he’s not they’re not getting the best out of him I think it’s been a couple of weeks I want to see more um uh evidence yeah but but yeah look yes but I think they got the job done at the weekend okay and he still plays an important role down there um they got the job done without Liber and they also lost that Whitman Liber and Whitman yeah Whitman he would have been big in Li was a big out before the game that’s worth yeah glad you mentioned that so I just wonder about that whole Jackson thing he doesn’t look comfortable he kicked two goals but he just doesn’t look comfortable not being the main B no main man yeah but you can play you can get him in the play other than I mean Darcy’s the Ruckman Darcy’s the Ruckman he did a pretty good job should they try Darcy no no that’s I don’t see I think that Jackson can work I think he but it’s not if they can work could they have a better option like could they get L Baker could they get Sam Taylor could they get who do they need they need another midfielder really don’t they probably yeah I don’t know I reckon F’s going to drop off the P they’re forward I reckon they’re okay maybe in defend could they get Logan McDonald they won’t get Logan if you had a chance if you had a chance to get Logan McDonald’s for Shawn Dary uh let’s see I reckon their Ford Line’s going to be okay as it is they’ve got what Tracy’s 21 what’s Amos 20 yep maybe 19 yeah I mean they’re young mate and they’re going to be good players so I reckon their four Line’s going okay they’ve got Cooper Simpson who’ll eventually be a mid but if Jackson goes into the rck because dar’s gone then you have got a spot what’s wrong with Jackson on a wing yeah yeah we could I recog have played on a win he played a bit as a midfielder maybe they should try that but so you are you saying that if you could get Logan for Darcy you wouldn’t do it at the moment I think Darcy they need him as first rck I still think he’s the first rck do you yep m I think you you be careful what you wish for because you get Darcy out of the frame yeah but Jackson is evolving mate he’s only young remember he’s 2122 yeah so do you want him to involve into a Ruckman or into a forward I don’t know he knows what he wants to be yet I think he’s more of a he’s a hybrid player I don’t think he’ll ever be one thing I think he’s better around the ball because you don’t have to be how should I put this extra mid mate no no hang on how shall I put you you don’t have to have a huge footy IQ I think he’s got a pretty good footy IQ to play around the ball whereas in the forward line you do have to have a very strong footy IQ and you have to understand where your you leading patterns are and all that sort of stuff I’m not sure that he’s big on the leading patterns but I’m not having a cracking I’m just I reckon he’s super I reckon he but he’s just been since dar’s come back he hasn’t been the same player okay so uh West Coast uh third quarter really that was the story wasn’t it and that’s when Ral and Anderson and toke Miller got to work on the back of Jared witz uh hit out dominance I thought they missed Harley Reed bar uh I think obviously Elliot yo was sort of fighting a bit of a lone battle in terms of that inside bull in the Midfield but um you know he was rested well under Jake Waterman continues another four at the weekend so um they sort of giv the Coleman a silly little Shake isn’t he I mean there’s other players up there of course but uh what happens when Oscar Allen comes back well they look a lot better don’t they do they well hopefully he comes back this year but I mean he’s still a fair way off do they keep they keep obviously keep Waterman cuz he’s on fire JD comes under the pump do he he does yes yes he well he wants to I thought he he had a crack at the weekend but mate you know I mean he’s kicked to but yeah I mean gives away some silly free kicks too yeah they got spanked in every area when you look at the third quarter they did 32 fewer inside 50s yeah just just repeat I know I did I wrot some analysis on the game and lost the clearance count by 17 lost the clearance count lost a contested possessions by 37 lost to disposals by 46 and the rck poor old Blandy Bailey yeah Williams mate he got absolutely panted oh get back as soon as you can mat I think Whit he got the 10 votes yeah he played well uh I wonder if that makes him think we got to get Tim English ay oh well they’ve got they’ve got Matt Flynn mate so I mean yeah well he’d be pretty handy extra pretty handy extra midfielder too cuz he plays like a mid Tim Engish problem is they have got Flynn so maybe they wouldn’t waste their everything on going be interesting to see what happens in that space actually where where where he goes CU heon he won’t stay cuz that Sam dar’s coming isn’t he at Sam Darcy’s coming for Tim englishh you know what I mean yeah you don’t rate him Tim’s all australi you see him play the all Australian rman last year so don’t ride him off just not rting him off I’m stories if there’s a vacuum or not a com an an explanation that people understand or can believe like Harley’s getting rested cuz okay they’re going to the longest trip in the AFL and then they got a six day break to the bombers game and really we’d rather have him in the bombers game he’s feeling a bit sore and the bombers game is going to be 60,000 and then they got Collingwood the week after he wants to play in both those games no that’s not a good enough explanation so you hear all sorts of stuff don’t you you know oh how come he’s flying back home then if he if you don’t want him to fly well he’s flying back home has there been a bust up somewhere has something is there been a posting of a photo you’re like all this stuff people ringing us up and going no he’s just injured he well that okay hey uh just a question without notice on yo so his contracts up the end of the year there’s a bit of speculation around him what do they do like um he’s been offed what couple of years there are the clubs sniff sniffing around It’s Tricky if you could get some trade value for Elliot would you would you or I mean he’s obviously in all Australian side right now right he’s playing he’s had a really good start to the year such a hard you take him out really hard for Harley so such a hard discussion isn’t it because I think Harley would be saying you going know what do not trade Elliot y so that’s going to weigh heavily on him yep cuz he’s his mentor his role model his his partner in crime you know it’s Robin and H Batman and Robin plus he’s playing so well you know like there must be hard to negotiations because they go look we can only give you this Elliott but I’m I’m on fire and I’ve missed all these games it’s his 200th game this week 200th career game this week he’s done really well to get back to the level he’s at given the injuries he’s had uh where do you trade him that’s a good question would I’d like to hear from people about that would you trade Elliot yo the end of the year uh grumpy Ross is back but with a bit of sugar on top so Port Adelaide got the job done 10 points I’ll tell you what watching that game Barett it was excruciating in that first half it was trying to get a hand ball out it was so tight and congested the pressure rating was through the roof 10-point win to port and uh my man William Drew got the medal I love William Drew very underrated player but it brings us to the point of uh uh the Jack Higgins tackle so tribunal tonight three weeks uh which I think he deserves a punishment the only concern I have here bar is that with the aier contributing factor so goes to kick the ball sort of contributes to the acceleration if you like I thought there was enough in the tackle for Higgins to go and he will because his head Le’s heads hit the turf but with the kicking the only what concerns me is there anything in this mro and the grading to take into account a contributing factor no there’s not so it’s three or off ridiculous isn’t it because a Al did try to kick the ball so if he hadn’t tried to kick the ball he wouldn’t have been slammed like that I’m not sure what else Higgin he I mean he could have no he it for me you got eight 42 so you you I tipped Carlton eh jeez I tell you what that was a big Clash it was a great game and I thought the Blues had him and I was charging and then they came again at the end and then vosy blew up so he must he wasn’t very happy vosy was he to do you think so well he had to mate because they’re at a stage now Caron where they’re challenging and it’s can you be happy with the loss no you can’t their defense is the problem for them by the way World under jalong undefeated uh Chris Scott mate 69% win record is he now does he have claims to be the coach of the modern that forward line mate you got Hawkins and Ole Henry Ole Henry is their most targeted forward now so you talk about transitions at jalong yeah Henry Cameron and then you got stingle at their feet so pretty pretty impressive in attack and uh we know how well set up no Tom Stewart either so mention that and Tom Hawkins went without a golf third week in a row and they still bloody one yep and that gr Meyers he’s the man isn’t he is he the man or not Sam G was as well yeah the um it’s it is and they lost Patrick Dangerfield during the game Hawkins goes goalless Carlton are coming Crips is on mate I want to mention one at gws Darcy Jones kicks a couple of goals uh and what about the kid at goas from the academy Jake Rogers now I think Sydney picked him at so um go Coast had the points I think Sydney picked him at 14 in the draft and go Coast match it well I could see why at the weekend what a player he was yeah those it’s a bit of a lurk mate Father and Son for jalong and theems for obviously the northern states I mean where when is Freeman going to get a break or I mean west coast probably don’t need a break they got four Flags but why doesn’t Freeman will get some special allowances like they do that’s a good point they just just loaded up Darcy Jones I did I tell that story about Darcy Jones and how he idolized natane no and so I went to interview him in the lead up
