heard about T-Mac it sounds like T-Mac will be okay we will talk about that we are going to talk about a Tennessee transfer that I well you know that happen to run into and I going to defend my reputation against the naysayers many many many things but first Shear a man that needs no introduction and needs no defending from the naysayers by the way some ASU guy was coming at us yesterday saying a lot of mean things and after uh Shear said why do you keep commenting on me he blocked Shear Nobody messes with the shear this is true yeah that was funny he kept talking about my looks and then he’s like let me see you and I was like who who says that and then the guy next to him was like dude he’s like yeah and then he then he blocked him because this it was great he was showing a picture of his like his like infantry status he says let me see you no Shelby doesn’t even say let me see you yeah yeah and there’s many people that would killed to be in Shelby’s position I do not have a daughter by the way but all right we are going to get to oh we’re going to talk chipe my friends chip hail Mike Luke day one chip hail supporter this is very true Jason Shear it’s very true for all the right reasons too I think that’s does matter how you get there you just get there okay let’s talk to Cory crossy Merit first of all I didn’t really understand I have no juice on this this was uh this was this was all sheer um so I was wondering I’m like all right I like the running back room of crosy Meritt Conley and fam totally cool with it and I didn’t understand why are you going after more uh more running backs and then Shear eventually lets me know and it makes a l lot of sense sheer um let’s uh let’s just break this one down why did Arizona decide to move on so Arizona’s actually been looking for running backs for a few weeks Damen I A lot of people are questioning like oh why are you bringing in Damen Martinez had the running back room been solidified I don’t know if they would have there’s going to be other running backs that they were talking to also so he may jakori may not be eligible there’s a very good chance he’s not basically alab Alabama State forged his red shirt okay he played eight games as a freshman they on record are saying that he played three games if you look at his Twitter um he has deleted game clips and highlights from his time at Alabama State he went to Texas A&M on a visit while committed to Arizona and they looked closer congrats to their compliance very much so yeah they looked at their game logs and participation reports and all that to confirm how much time he had left and they realized that he has no time left so they said we cannot take you uh he has stats in more than four games in 2019 and the NCAA has not granted him a year anything so technically he’s literally out of Eligibility yeah I don’t know what else it’s one of the more bizarre situations that I’ve ever come across and when you said it was funny when you called me and told me about it you’re like you’re like all right listen you’re not going to believe this and I thought it was going to just be something stupid like you know somebody thought that I was tall or something or you know something dumb and then you’re like um yeah he’s not he’s not eligible man so it’s uh I guess Old Miss is probably going to find this one out the hard way eligibility is fluid very funny kill Ro that very funny but Arizona now is in the need for a running back obviously obviously we like fam and shout out to Prim on Twitter yes I am biased I under no circumstance want any uh carries taken away from fam those must be preserved at all cost but I do understand there has to be other running backs get it qually Conley is good right now though it doesn’t appear that the coaching staff believes that there’s a ton of available immediate impact talent beyond those two so there we are going to be going portaling Jason Shear yeah it just Brandon Johnson has been great kid all that he hasn’t been that good during spring he’s kind of just been there he’s had a couple nice plays but nothing that would give you confidence to give him 10 carries a game or whatever it may be Jordan Washington from what I’ve seen just isn’t ready in in the other facets he’s he’s fast he honestly he’s similar to Speedy when Speedy first came on campus you know where he was fast but not necessarily uh adjusting to the college Speedy very clearly adjusted to the college game now Jordan Washington will probably need that year so they have to go out and out a back and and I could say with confidence uh it’s a it’s going to be a power back like zo sees okay I have the fast guy and Speedy I have the the balanced running back and Conley I need a a power dude so that’s going to be what they’re looking for they’re going to look for that and again we’ll find we’ll know more as it comes but along also Damien Martinez is going to Miami he’s going going back back to Miami I will say this Arizona made a a nice run at this I think they’re they’re second right I I do think they’re second I I don’t think you know he just canceled the Kentucky visit Mississippi State isn’t beating Arizona or Miami the deal is that Miami is has made him their literal top priority and when a school with that much money makes you the top priority it’s going to be really hard to to beat that school right you can’t so again that’s going to be especially it’s Miami I get all of that I never really thought he was coming here um but either way that would be that would have been a nice coup but again Arizona back need to get a power back and by a PowerBack I mean somebody probably in that 225 pound range now which leads me to my next Point Jason Shear something that we have not considered at all ready back nope even better Dylan Anderson nope even better even better I have not thought about I had not thought about this until just now it is a very good point so if Speedy if Speedy is uh lightning fam how about fam 2.0 as Thunder Kaden Luke my friend the Kaden Luke fam backfield fam 1.0 and fam 2.0 I will say this he was on campus the other day uh he’s huge he’s dude I told you he’s one of the biggest I’ve ever seen he is I I almost wonder if he you know he reminds me of a a little bit and no he’s not that good BL blah remember like Mike allot was like he a Monster yeah that’s what he looks like he’s huge and you know what’s always funny too and I think when watching CDO and they’re playing schools like I mean I don’t even know who they play like aache Junction or something yeah and like trying no he’s massive he is a huge huge dude but could he possibly be the could he possibly be fam 2 or could he possibly be the PowerBack no but oh after much consideration I mean it depends too on the port like I could tell you like one of the guys I would look out for is Penny Boon at Toledo uh he’s six1 the best name in the portal by the way yeah he’s 61 240 pounds he ran for 1400 yards and 15 touchdowns last year that’s the type of guy where uh I think Arizona is gonna go after yeah all right well either way but do we do I will say this though about fam 2.0 I do believe surprise me would it surprise me if he’s good eventually sorry yes he’s going to take some time but I could also see fam 2.0 getting into a maybe into a scholarship role at some point very these are the kind of guys that you offer a uh that you offer a preferred walk on to somebody that’s got upward Mobility or can bring good players with them one of the two either way we need something out of you whether you’re going to be on the court or on the field or you’re bringing better players than you one or the other kayen Luke signs up for both of those yes one of them yes 100% okay which which one of Mike’s kids is bigger Kaden Luke or Jules Luke dude when I saw jwes on University I thought you were kidding that he’s 67 dude he is a monster this guy Jules on the board um by the way Jules said mean things a while back where he said that uh he said that um with on he said very mean things on Twitter or not Twitter on the said if unless Shear is on he is not listening so again I will remember that Jules I’ll remember that is in a bad mood lately next time Jules asks to take a picture with me will say jwes no pictures no pictures no pictures okay now let’s talk now a little bit more we got some more football and we’re going to talk spacing and we are going to talk shooting we have talked about this we’re going to talk about this all weekend but another thing that I’ve really got to give Arizona a ton of credit for is holding the line so far has been incredibly impressive Shear you’re like me show me where and I were on the podcast last night and I’m like I didn’t want to say it because this thing’s still open for another eight days right but so far so so halfway through the portal Arizona has done a an actually a better job than I would have expected and that’s not a knock on Brennan or whatever they got a lot of schools coming for a lot of guys and and they’ve been able so far to to keep them what do we think about Jed fish’s remark about how the transfer portal is what did he say what what was the he he said he hates the transfer portal and then the next sentence he said but we’ll use it as much to our ability to it’s like come on man you don’t dislike the transfer portal you like the transfer portal Jed you dislike rules and you dislike the truth both of them might dislike it because he’s not having the success that he told everyone that he would have doesn’t that really what isn’t that really kind of what it comes down to that he’s probably just not having the success that he like was telling people and uh you know it just kind of is all right now we got to talk about the quarterback situation here a little bit obviously Noah faid day one knowah A F of supporter right here as well just like day one tw or not TW keina uh uh chip hail supporter as well sheer I’ve been all over this baseball you come to me for knowledge about baseball I will give it to you yes you should go to a game Mike what’s that you should go to a game we should go to a literally the only reason Dave hired him and uh that’s it we’re loyal here on the A Wildcats podcast all right we need to look at the quarterback situation a little bit so Noah faf has obviously been fantastic he is uh listen he’s Noah ffid is one of those players I don’t care how he even looks in practice not that he has good who cares you know what he’s about when it comes there I will say though the quarterback situation makes me a little uncomfortable after him though Braden Dorman is okay but I don’t tell me if I’m wrong I don’t have a ton of confidence you can say this about pretty much every team in college football that if Noah goes down that Arizona can still you know be able to actuate the Playbook yeah I mean look this isn’t a situation where if Jaden Dora goes down you have Noah faid waiting right this is in a situation where Noah F goes down you have a future star in the making you know you have deont Williams is what it would have been right um Dorman hasn’t been awful uh is he a guy that I want starting multiple games for Arizona probably not um they just went and got this kid from San Jose State who’s a a really good athlete obviously they see something in him but I think most of it is like hey you’re not going to make no upset or anything like that you’re going to be cool in your role let’s see you know he’s never taken a snap before I wouldn’t be surprised if they had another quarterback the problem is that it’s really hard to recruit a quarterback when you’re like hey you’re literally coming to be the backup like you’ll never get an in-game Alabama could take care of him or any school like that but this uh that’s kind of where I’m at yeah I mean Bobby Wade and him are close like they still talk one of the reasons why Badger stayed at ASU last year was because of Bobby Wade I’m sure they’ve had conversations I just don’t know if Arizona is going to go to a financial level that Badger is now it may not be all about the money right there there could be other things that play but they’re going to try all right Joseph Joseph very good point Joseph allow me to differentiate Deion Sanders in my opinion is the best defensive back to ever play football I have never at least as far as covering not tackling but I’ve never seen anything like it but I also don’t like Dion to me is also very much of a look at me type where like his kids are acting up in class and instead of telling him to get their act together he tweets out and you says I just told them that you’re present without being present like all that you see what he did yesterday like so Corman mlan claim out Corman came out with a YouTube reel or whatever he basically he kind of dissed Colorado a little bit in the sense where he’s like I just want to go somewhere that doesn’t worry about clicks or media attention and just play football right so Dion basically like starts like a disc record like he he like tweets a lyric out and basically says we have video otherwise it’s like what do you come on like you’re a 50-year old man like what are you do see I don’t see I don’t get I don’t get that I don’t you know I I don’t know like I said with Dion It’s always it’s always just you know it’s kind of about Dion so yeah Corman is also a cornball I get all that but again I don’t care Ryan Mitchell I think this puts uh puts it very well being a pro Hall of Famer is irrelevant that’s where I’m at with that’s where I’m at with Dion Sanders and I will stay I we are going to hold the line on this one now let’s talk about the wide receiver room I am very bullish on the wide receiver room if they don’t add I am totally cool with this as a matter of fact the uh let me ask you this thinking about this oh oh hey who catches for more yards this year more yards and more touchdowns Malachi Riley Kevin green I think it’s probably pretty close it’s pretty close isn’t it but they’re both good that’s the thing they’re both good I’m really curious I think Arizona adds a burner and if that happens I think his competition bur like a chief burner yeah yeah maybe just adds Chief uh and if that happens I think Kevin green has a little more competition I don’t like the slot position on Arizona right now I I think they need more depth I think the outside is fine hullman has been pretty good Riley has been pretty good they need more like they have a good amount of wide receivers on paper but they they kind of need more o jela Joseph with a great question Joseph with a great question why can’t I’m glad I’m glad people are asking this because this comes up with the message board he’s not a wide receiver he’s a running back that’s why he doesn’t play wide receiver like everyone goes oh put him in the slot no he’s a running back yes he is a he’s been hurt a little bit that’s why I didn’t mention him like AJ’s Fine Holman’s fine I’m just saying you lose Jacob coing and you want to try to get a guy as close to coow as you can and and I don’t think that guy is currently on the roster yeah I get it I get it but overall though I like this wide receiver I told you what uh Kevin green senior said one time that I thought was very cool about Noah faf and this is why I think is a wide receiver you’re very very excited about this I thought he made a very good point and he just said the great thing about Noah is if you get open he’s going to get you the ball you don’t have and I think that’s such a good and he wasn’t dissing anybody else but allow me to diss somebody else with uh with Jaden Delora it always felt like well there’s probably guys that are open that you’re probably not looking at with Everybody Eats with Noah that is such a good I think that’s just such a good point he’s like listen man he’s like if mik if you know he didn’t say this but I’m just paraphrasing he said if my kid’s not if my kid’s out there and he’s not catching passes with Noah out there he’s not getting open yeah I mean Noah’s going to spread the love if you’re open Noah’s going to get you the ball that’s it he’s not looking at running around for 18 seconds behind the line of scrimmage if you’re open he’s going to get you the ball very rarely will he miss an open wide receiver and if he doesn’t get you the ball it’s probably because you weren’t that open you probably just weren’t that open you know and T-Mac all right let’s talk about T-Mac now um I do believe at least from what I’ve heard that this isn’t anything serious got a little bit of a leg uh a leg uh in injury but what are you hearing Jason Shear maybe you’re hearing otherwise yeah I know we got a foot x-ray uh there wasn’t much concern look the reality is that this sounds bad but even if he broke a bone in his foot let’s just assume the worst case scenario it’s April he’d be fine for the season he’d be fine for for fall Camp right so it’s not like an Achilles or a TN ACL or anything like that um but I I would expect him we we’ll see tomorrow Toby aaka from uh University of Tennessee I like this kid I like this kid a great deal the more I look at him uh played like 13 minutes but still got like six points and five rebounds he is a very he’s an athletic beast and he’s around the ball to quote you to foe that you were telling me this morning you can play small ball five with him there’s a lot to like about this kid sheer yeah I mean look he’s I mean you kind of start from the beginning number one I don’t judge anyone on their offense when they play for Rick Barnes no it’s not fair yeah he’s a terrible offensive coach his offensive numbers mean very little to me I kind of look at how he moves he’s a big dude number one uh he can block shots he is free throw percentage he shot 74% from the line last year it went up he shot 59% uh from two which is good he’s not gonna shoot threes because that’s not his game he is yeah yeah he’s a good rebounder I like him he’s a tough dude and you’re not you’re not looking at him and being like okay we need 25 minutes from you right your hope is that he gives you 10ish 15ish maybe as a backup center to crous and then next season you go okay now you’re ready for a much bigger role all of a sudden if you had him in towns in and crevis you have a a pretty nice post rotation yes and again now tln says let me clarify this yes you want me to you want to do it you do it you do it they want they want both and both are very aware of the other like they have straight up said to Trey towns and hey look man we’re gonna add a backup four and five and Trey said go for it they said Toby Trey’s our guy he’s probably gonna start at the four if we land him and Toby said go for it right and Toby’s not done yet it’s Georgetown and Villanova and Tennessee is actually trying to get him back as well so I went on their message boards Tennessee folks very much like Toby aaka very much like him and on top of that he also is somebody that brings in a um you know like I said he brings in a rebounding to he strikes me as the type that if you gave him 28 minutes per game he’s probably going to get you 11 or 12 rebounds look I’m gonna say it too my my guy’s from New York so he’s not a punk right like and in order to to to defend at T you have to defend to play for Tennessee like they’re tough what surprised me Mike is I went on that message board too and there were a considerable amount of people that were ready to say goodbye to Jonas ad do um instead of uh sorry you got me cubby off guard they were ready to say goodbye to Jonas Ado instead of um getting rid of Toby Toby aaka there’s no doubt about I like volume Shooters yeah I I’m not complaining at all if Caleb love comes back that whole recruiting pitch becomes mood right it just doesn’t exist anymore your shots that you thought you were gonna get and so San will look around if that happens like I’m confident in saying that is it impossible that he would go to Arizona no but all of a sudden it just doesn’t look the same right and then you’ve got schools like let’s say Yukon who all of a sudden needs a bunch of guys calls them up and like hey man you know we need you we’ll pay you this much you will start you will get these shots it’s gonna be a situation where Arizona’s gonna have to fight to keep him um and I don’t want to say it’s one or the other but there’s a good chance that it’s one or the other but I got to tell people this if it comes down to S hon or Caleb love I’m taking Caleb love yeah no question in in Arizona’s coaching staff would take Caleb love I would take Caleb love here’s the difference Caleb love is going to be an All-American if he returns to college know this and as good and hyped as a freshman is you just don’t know you don’t know what they’re going to be you know exactly what Caleb love is going to be can let me ask you this we were talking about this a little bit last week do you think can Tommy get well can Tommy is it in Tommy to maybe tell Caleb BL to drive a little bit more this coming season because he’s actually good at it yeah because look that NBA feedback is probably going to say something similar yeah right it is it is those NBA teams are gonna say hey we want to see you get to the basket and Tomy is gonna be like let’s go to the basket Carter Bryant Carter Bryant my guy Carter Bryant okay um I believe Carter Bryant is a two-year player and there is nothing wrong with that I get some people’ll be like two-e player so you’re saying he’s not that good no he is really good but with Carter Bryant he looked he’s looked good this postseason for sure it’s going to be an interesting he’s going to play at the bare minimum he’s going to be in a KJ Lewis type role this season but sheer it’s also going to be fascinating to see how exactly he does because I think if he’s here as a sophomore I think he’s going to be an absolute monster the only thing I’m telling people is to just temper it a little bit because I can see him being more of a z Williams type nine and four type as a freshman and there’s nothing wrong with that yeah that’s actually a pretty good comparison I I think he saw the The Carter if you watch the Jordan brand game I don’t know if everyone did in the first half he was a monster right I mean he looked like one of the best players one and done done deal in the second half he did it right and that’s what Carter’s kind of dealing with now like any young guy he’s he battles inconsistency you could watch Carter and he looks like a monster right I mean awesome and then you could watch him and he he does I don’t want to say disinterested but he the same energy isn’t there right he’s got to get rid of that in college right like and so there’s going to be games where and this is the coaching staff has no problem with this they they’re going to help him through it there’s going to be games where I think he’s awesome you’re gonna see him play 25 minutes score 20 points and look great and there’s gon to be games where he plays 12 minutes and just doesn’t have it that night against whatever physical team and that’s just the way it is I I think he is a two-year player um and there’s nothing wrong with that and there’s nothing wrong with that a lot of guys are two-year players that are one and done they just don’t do the right thing yeah exactly but I here’s what I do like about Carter I think that he’s got a uh his pops is a really good dude his pops has been through the process obviously um you know deshaun’s deshaun’s my guy so I think he’s got he’s got a good he’s got a good fatherly he’s got a good fatherly advice would you guys be surprised he turns into a top 10 pick after not I don’t believe he’ll be after his first year but after his second year I could 1,000% see that oh yeah yeah absolutely I’d be kind of surprised if he wasn’t now Jamari Phillips Jamari Phillips now he would be a benefactor from if uh well Phillips is going to be an interesting guy to watch because Phillips has a lot of Phillips has a lot of basketball skills he really does when you watch him he can get from three he can get mid-range and he can get to the hoop he’s going to be an interesting one to see what happens when he hits campus Because you know if everything goes right he’s got the talent to be really really good under Tommy Lloyd the natural Talent is there I don’t have any questions about his natural Talent there’s some Ms he has to make he has to make adjustments to not being able to shoot it out well like he was in high school right he has to make adjustments to maybe not playing as much as he wants or the defensive part of the game um being coached up more than he’s probably been coached up before not every guy just well to that that’s the the question with with Jamari to me isn’t the natural Talent it’s kind of everything else sure did they really did they really is this true everybody at Lawrence Castillo Mr Lawrence Caso is this true you are not do not FIB put out there that he was down to UCLA in Arizona he’s not he’s looking at both obviously I think those are probably the two leaders right now but I don’t know I mean he could get you know if the G and I are pretty much sheer you put you put this pretty well on a conversation we had the other day because we’re generally in the same Spa generally in the same space with the spacers you said that I have framed my argument incorrectly to a certain degree I think you are right tell the people what help me help me help myself you’re you’re saying basically that unless you are a volume type of guy or a guy that’s going to go out and hit five threes in a game you’re not going to take a team out of the zone and you made a good point by saying like you want guys that hunt threes not guys that once in a while make three right like you brought up C cariban like we saw cariban in the title game pulling up off the dribble and hitting threes the guys that hit two or three games that everyone is in love with they’re not changing a game nearly as much as people think they they don’t let’s talk about Xavier Amos I think is a perfect example of this uh transfer from where Northern Illinois or Western some one of those directional schools that a lot of people on the board want over Trey Townsen and I want Trey Townsen and a big thing was is they say well you know he can’t space like Amos Amos is not spacing anything Amos is three and a half threes per game that he’s going to take nobody is Spa that is not bringing any spacing that is essentially like having keyshot here nobody is going to respect that now if you want to talk about other positions cool but if you’re at two players and one is clearly better than the other but the other it shoots three threes per game and you think that that’s going to lead to spacing you are wrong well let’s bring up Amos because he’s he was kind of the love child of wild a little bit right so number one you got to realize that Amos play for a below 300 team in kenpom in the worst defensive conference in America right I’m not I’m not making that up right you look at his stats can he hit some threes yes he had four games this season with four threes or more which is pretty solid right they also came against Western Michigan Ohio and all that so it’s like what are you doing it against Marquette he didn’t hit a three he scored eight points right against Iowa he he was two for 11 from the field for six points like it it it’s just because a guy averages like when you take a look at his average he he made one and a half out of four threes a game one and a half threes a game is what he made right so like what are we doing here that’s not doing anything you don’t take a you don’t take him over a better player just because he’s going to do that it’s like with kyod it’s really cool that kyod was able to make a few threes kyod was left open all season for a reason nobody cared if kead shot threes so by the way keyot half a three less a game right exactly game does anybody look at kyot and say that you know that that was a guy that spaced the court for Arizona again it’s a cool story but but he also was not somebody that’s based the court so that’s where I’m at if you’re looking at somebody and you’re like all right you know this guy’s clearly better than this guy but this guy will take three threes a game and he’ll make 37% that to me is a solution in search of a problem sheer yeah it’s just I it’s yeah like I think people want Shooters so bad that they’re willing to ignore everything and just say like that guy can hit a three like it’s like you know like it’s like here look I I’ll take this example a julus juelis could hit a three right did anyone care if a julus hit a three no Princeton’s literal strategy was to let aulus shoot jumpers right you wanted him hit threes he could hit a couple threes a game why not but that’s just not what you do like there’s very few players in all of college basketball that’ll literally change an opposing defense because of their ability to shoot and this is where I think the argument gets lost with the NBA as well because in the NBA these guys are totally different everybody in the NBA generally can shoot and if you can’t shoot you can probably do something that’s entirely different where you basically in the NBA you can’t just not guard somebody that’s on the court they’re probably going to actually uh beat you in college there’s guys that I just do not have to guard because it’s College these guys are in college many times for a reason so again sheer I think you helped me out many times I’m a beetle on my back trying to make my points you came over and you saw my legs and you put me down on the right side of the pavement I
