what actually happened okay so it was
almost 20 years ago it was in the Grand
Prix at Preston at a big ranking event
incidentally it was only I think a month
before Steven Maguire won the UK
Championship so that’s how good and and
dangerous Maguire was basically they
went out to start the match Steven had
then forgotten to take a piece of chalk
out with him he’d left in his CC case
which was about a 20 second walk away
from the table
itself Steven went to get his chalk and
and what a will say about Shawn Murphy I
can’t prove what he said to the referee
I think I know what he said because I do
remember it but I can’t prove it but
what I can say is that Shawn was
complicit in accepting a frame from
Steven Maguire it was a best of nine
match he was complicit because if he
wasn’t what he could have done because
there was no fine for conceding then a
frame early he could have broke off in
frame two and said that’ll do that’s
fine let’s play one all and have a best
of seven that’s what I would have done
that’s not being Mr self-righteous I
would have done that because it’s
followed Shan around for follow it’s not
been a a a terrible mark on his
character or anything but that’s what
happened and it’s lingered all these
years and it’s still there cuz they’re
both referenced it this week

  1. I have always rated McManus and think he's a good guy and a very underrated player BUT McManus could have accepted Drago's request to revoke his own concession in the hit your own head with a fist gate when he realised he'd made an error but didn't. Nevertheless I hate Murphy and I pity the people that buy into his act.

  2. I'm a bit surprised by how people disliked the way Shaun reacted to the incident. I'll assume Shaun only complained about the delay in play caused by forgetting the chalk and him not suggesting any punishment for Maguire first.

I find it ok to complain, because it kept Shaun waiting in his seat, even though probably not for long, but it did waste his time. Ronnie Osullivan could have complained in that situation given how high demanding to everything during a match.

And just because Maguire was docked a frame, Shaun needs to show sportsmanship by forfeiting a frame? Come on, it's not shaun's fault. Im sure many other atheletes in individual sports would take advantage of any mistakes caused by referee/umpire. you can praise Shaun for showing good sportsmanship for forfeiting a frame, but he's got no responsibility whatsoever to take care of consequences given to his opponent. Why not took full advantage of that, just like Alan the Angle did to Tony Drago?

  3. Where does Alan McManus get the gall. I remember he once accepted a frame from Tony Drago when Drago conceded by mistake and the referee gave him the opportunity to let Drago carry on Drago said it would be unfair on McManus to rescind now they had already shook hands. The referee gave Alan the chance to let Drago rescind and Alan went know I'm happy to accept the concession. Oh and it wasn't the first frame it was the last. Yet here he says he would have given up a frame. This guy gets my goat

  4. Shaun murpy is ya typical little snob anyway ' a right little by the book lifstyle ' until somthing goes agains't him ' then he shows his true spoiled entitled little brat nature 😫😢

  5. As others have said, Alan is hardly an angel. Search on here for "Tony Drago goes mad. German Masters Q v Alan McManus" and watch from 4m 30s. Tony miscalculates and concedes, then realises his mistake. Referee asks Tony if he wants to withdraw the concession then the referee asks if he's happy to take the concession. Alan accepts it.

  6. Rules are rules.
My sport is football where VAR can disallow a brilliant goal because your toenail was offside.

  7. Free Ball Question: Happen for first time of 40 years playing snooker last night. I have a free ball. Blue, pink and black left. I was snookered on the blue behind the pink. I tried to get a better snooker behind the black but made a mess of the attempt and unintentionally snookered my opponent behind the pink (object of my free ball). Is this now an illegal shot and foul by me, even though I layed an unintentional snooker behind the ball I chose as my free ball. Neither me or my oponent have had this before so were not sure how to proceed. I suggested a replacement of the balls (like miss rule) but my opponent agreed as the snooker layed was unintentional we should continue with him attempting to get out of the snooker he was now faced with. He failed in this attempt and I then potted blue to secure the frame (and pink and black). This was a friendly with my uncle, not a league match. Any refs out there know this rule? TIA.

  8. Shaun Murphy is not a nice guy don't be fooled by his "nicey nice" attitude in front of the camera he showed his True Colour when he bashed that amateur for beating him a few years ago

  9. Even a murderer gets less of a sentence. Forget it; lessons were learnt so move on.

  10. Shaun is full of himself with feelings of grandiosity. The kind of guy who mostly presents himself as mr kind himself but would turn on you wherever he feels he can get away it. Glad Stephen is through and Shnitch Murphy out and exposed with only his little weener to play with while he stares at himself in the mirror.

  11. Also lits not forget that Murphy was the only player who voted against freezing Paul hunters ranking points after he passed away

  12. Shaun Murphy loves to criticises others on his sanctimonious high horse but this example shows how hypocritical he is.

  13. Remember when Murphy’s moaned about being beat by an amateur player. But he then went and tried to qualify for the open golf. Two faced tosser

  14. So can someone explain is "idiot" terms because I'm a bit unknowledge when it comes to snooker rules in the high ranking events..

Are they saying Sean murphy is basically being a bit unsportsmanlike or unfair for basically being awarded a frame because Stephen Maguire needed to go get some chalk?

Do you have concede a frame if you leave the table once arrived?

I'm not normally this thick, i promise 😔😔

  15. Any story has more to it. I see this same mindless twaddle time and again from older Snooker people, it's toxic gossip behaviour. You know so little about Murphy but so many of you are sanctimonious making these declarations about how terrible he is. God forbid someone scrolls through your life and picks out every imperfect thing you ever done 🤷‍♂️.

  16. i have been watching snooker for almost 40 years and am totally befuddled by Alan's 'explanation'. Started off with something about chalk – and then just got lost. Can someone explain? Even Jimmy White looked confused.
