WARNING I AM WORRIED…MASTERS CBS Ratings have Suddenly CRASHED! Here’s REAL Why…

According to Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal, CBS drew 9.589 million viewers for the final round on Sunday, marking a 20% decrease from Jon Rahm’s victory at Augusta in 2023.Carpenter also highlighted that Scheffler’s win resulted in the “second-largest deficit of the season” for the US broadcaster, the lowest since 2021 when Hideki Matsuyama claimed his first major title.

Reportedly, the coverage reached its peak at 12.562 million viewers from 7:00-7:15, coinciding with Scheffler’s sealing of the win. The average viewership stood at just over 8.210 million throughout the weekend’s events. The most recent data highlights a concerning pattern in men’s professional golf, revealing a decline in viewership across PGA Tour events in 2024.

Peter Malnati’s thrilling victory at the Valspar Championship in the weeks leading up to the Masters witnessed a 27% decrease in viewership. This decline has been consistently observed in other tournaments as well.WARNING I AM WORRIED…MASTERS CBS Ratings have Suddenly CRASHED! Here’s REAL Why…

alarm Bells have to be ringing right now
like I mean crazy I’m talking TV ratings
they’re significantly down in golf now
I’m not talking just PJ tour I’m not
talking just live golf I’m talking major
championships so we’ve just finished the
Masters and what a championship 88th
Masters the world’s blessed player won
Scotty Sheffer I think if he’s breathing
he is winning but TV ratings I’m going
to not going to say hit an alltime low
but the seriously on the way to doing
that where does this go from now because
think about it this way and you probably
think the same as me the Masters almost
marks the start of the golf season if
you are a golfer you’re watching it if
you’re a non-golfer and a sports fan
you’re probably watching the Masters it
literally signifies the star you almost
think especially this Masters as well
it’s the first time John Ram played the
Masters as defending Champion but also
first time as a live golfer and this
year we had 30 live golfers joining the
PJ tours very best and now only four
times a year we get to see the true
world’s best so with all that being said
like why haven’t we got the biggest
ratings like there’s only four times a
year where we get to see truly the
world’s best golfers I’m not talking
world ranking points for me they’re out
the window right now because we all know
that they’re a bit skewed they’re a bit
rubbish because it doesn’t include live
golfers because they don’t get world
ranking points and we’ll leave the
argument there because I know people
have have their own opinions on that now
let’s talk TV ratings I just think it
really summarizes where golf is at right
now and this whole fraud nature of is
there going to be a deal isn’t a deal PJ
tour going someplace getting a deal
they’re not fans are just getting bored
now according to sports business
journalist Josh Carpenter Sunday’s final
round Drew 9.58 n million viewers for
CBS which was down 20% from Ram’s
victory in at austa in
2023 interestingly it was also noted by
Carpenter that sheffler’s win provided
the second largest deficit of the season
for the US broadcaster and the lowest
since 2021 when hii matama won his
Maiden major championship it is reported
that the coverage peaked around about
12.5 million with viewers from 7 to 7:15
when Sheffer sealed the win where the
average viewers were just over 8.2
million across the whole action over the
weekend now they sound like big numbers
but really if we look at it in
perspective they’re not they’re down
20% and there are a few tweets knocking
around but I would love to know what
your opinion is on this right look down
the comments I will be in the comments
too as soon as this video goes live I
would love to hear exactly what you
think of this because I’m actually
worried I really am this is a our Sport
and it’s gone from being I would say in
an unbelievably successful place just
postco where especially in the UK maybe
a little bit different where you are
there was so many people involved in it
maybe involvement is going to go down on
the back of lower viewings
viewers I guess what I would see as as
TV it is like the inspiration for people
to pick up and play golf now here’s a
tweet Josh Carpenter tweeted this golf
viewership continues to drop CBS and
have a look at it here lowest final
round since
2021i Matti I just want to run through a
few of the opinions one of them from Ron
here said could it be that people are
turned off by how many golfers joined
Liv golf another one here saying no
Tiger Woods in contention no main
attraction no main attraction golfer and
most important the split of the Golf
Association is tearing golf
apart I get that but I don’t see who’s
going to take the mantle from Tiger w
but we’re not going to have that we need
to Galvanize and come together and
another one here without the team ell
and golf it is not interesting so we’ve
got sort of um a balanced argument there
saying actually this person here prefers
watching a more team element guess like
a Ridder cup or potentially a live golf
and don’t forget the PJ tour do have
some team events this year now I’d love
to know what you think of those points
and those tweets let’s dive into this
little further now the latest data
exposes a worrying trend friend of men’s
professional golf following a declining
figures across PJ Tour event in 2024
Peter melly’s dramatic win in the vball
championship in the weeks before the
Masters was a 27% drop whilst there’s a
consistent drop off in tournament
viewership 27% where does this go where
does this go I’m really worried I just
think we need to come to some agreement
where all the top players are playing
together more often this fractures
nature of live golf not live golf is not
good good for the sport not good for the
sport or we somehow get it I don’t know
free to We Now reason why I don’t think
this is good for the sport think about
this logically where a lot of the money
comes for the PJ tour events is through
sponsors sponsors sponsor events because
they get their logo to get their company
in front of 9 million plus people that’s
worth a lot of money now if you is are
going like this but players want to get
paid more where does this go do you see
more people leave because viewerships
going down the p t or down in general
and I don’t really get it all I know is
that we need to get an agreement quickly
we’re already passed the deadline so how
do we get actually viewership up so Rory
spoke on this matter if you look at TV
ratings of the PGA Tour this year
they’re down 20% across the board Rory
said I think with the fighting and
everything that went on over the past
couple of years people are just getting
really fatigued of it and turning people
off men’s professional golf and that’s
not a good thing for anyone that’s where
I said like things need a correction and
things are unstable because I’m close
with NBC and the people that are really
care about those things and the people
that tune in to watch golf you know 20%
is a pretty jarring number this year 20
21 27 it’s getting bigger and bigger
that’s all we have time for in today’s
breaking new story but these TV ratings
don’t look good for men’s professional
golf

  1. Rory's musings notwithstanding, perhaps the problem is the actual telecasts themselves, in particular the ever increasing number of ads. It's making golf unwatchable. This is of course a consequence of ever increasing purses. It's time for professional golfers to realize they already make too much money. Beating the drums for even more money is just pure greed.

  2. IT IS BECAUSE OF LIV GOLF. And the PGA being bought up by Saudi Arabia and one of my favorite golfer , Phil Michelson signed with LIV GOLF and thumb his nose at America. BECAUSE AMERICANS KNOW THAT MBS OF SAUDI ARABIA KILLED KHASHOGGI . I WILL NEVER WATCH PRO GOLF AGAIN AS LONG AS SAUDI ARABIA OWNS IT. I DIDN'T WATCH THE MASTERS FORTHE FIRST IN 30 YEARS. AND I LOVE MASTERS. THATS WHAT YOU NEED TO LOOK AT IT ISN'T ECONOMICS. IT HAS TO WITH WHO OWNS GOLF.I MYSELF HAVE THROWN EVERYTHING I EVER OWN OF PHIL MICHELSON STUFF AND AUTOGRAPHS.,IT DIDN'T DESERVED TO EVEN BE BURNED THE TRASH WITH ALL THE OTHER GARBAGE AND SHIT! THAT IS WHAT I THINKS MOST OF THE AVERAGE AMERICA THINK OF GOLF NOW.

  3. Liv seems to have the characters. The pga tour has a lot of anonymous names and very few characters. Same thing in most modern sport nowadays, tennis, football next to no characters so it’s becoming ever more boring!

  4. The Tour & Networks put ALL their eggs in Phil & Tigers baskets a long time ago. There's some big rotty holes in those baskets now

  5. Masters viewership may be down due to the great streaming service for the Masters. Weekly viewership is down because of the weak fields due to the split.

  6. They tried this with football, Indy cars and now golf, I stopped watching golf when players were bought and paid for by LIV. They destroyed something worth watching that had incredible history, it’s all meaningless now.

  7. CBS, Jim Nance, Golf Channel, Brandel and Emon, taking shots at LIV players for no friggin reason other than acting as pimps for the PGAT. Can’t stomach watching/listening to that drivel. Ain’t gonna tolerate it, ain’t gonna watch it. I’m perfectly satisfied watching YouTube golf.

  8. Golf used to be a classy and dignified spectator sport. The trash they have at the courses now are off-putting for TV viewers. Perhaps putting a spectator dress code in place would go somewhere to replacing the damage.

  9. Tablets and phones rule the day for viewership. Die hard fans conrinue to watch the tournaments what ever stream they can catch.

  10. Golf cannot sustain the tiger years.
It is diificult, slow, and expensive. And the biggest fans might prefer to be out playing, not watching. Popularity will wax and wane but will be ok.
