Whatever regrets that Talor Gooch had about his move over to LIV Golf likely vanished when he checked his back account after the end of the season. Gooch, in winning the LIV Individual Championship as well as being a part of the second-place team of the season with the Range Goats, won over $35 million in the 2023 season – $18 million of that coming as a bonus for winning that individual season title.

let’s get right into whatever regrets
that Taylor G had about his move over to
live golf likely vanished when he
checked his bank account after the end
of that season gu in winning the Liv
individual Championship as well as being
a part of the second place team of the
season with the range goats won over $35

surprised by his incredible winnings
saying never in my wildest dreams
imagined I could make this much money on
a golf course however when asked how
that money would change his life gu
quickly corrected his interviewer saying
not my life the goal is to change a lot
of other lives and I promise we’ll be
able to do that with that much money gu
elaborated further saying we’ve done a
great job of building partners and
organizations that we help and that we
are going to continue to support we will
continue to support those and just in a
bigger way our reach is a lot bigger now
so it’s going to be a huge focus in this
offseason to figure out now what we do
it’s definitely encouraging to hear a
live player mentioning that they’ll use
their money for good especially when
there has been so much noise in the
media about the Saudi Arabian sources of
that money about the general success
that he saw this season gu recently said
obviously it was the best year of my
career we took it to a new level we were
beating on on the door last year a few
times coming down the stretch and we
just couldn’t get it done once we broke
through that first win in Australia it
just built a lot of confidence and
anything like that unlocked a new level
of golf in me and a new level of belief
not only is Gucci’s confidence high but
he feels a sense of accomplishment that
he was able to play highlevel golf
against some of golf’s best players like
Brooks Kea Dustin Johnson and cam Smith
he discussed this aspect saying you’ve
got 48 of the best players in the world
with some Legends and some current great
players Majors Champions when you’re
playing all kinds of courses across the
world in different climates in different
parts of the world and back home in the
states and everything over the span of a
season to beat everybody over the course
of that it speaks volumes to the quality
of golf that you played for me it’s a
validation to all the hard work all the
patience and the years it took to get my
game to this spot to I think be
considered one of the best players in
the world Gucci’s 2023 success in a way
was the culmination of his efforts over
the past few years even when he was on
the PGA tour he was still a player to be
reckoned with but since G has joined Liv
he has taken his game to the next level
he agrees saying I’ve always felt that I
was good enough to be a professional
golfer and play against the best in the
world now to be here to I think consider
myself one of the best in the world it’s
what I’ve been dreaming about since I
was 9 years old to get to this point in
my career and to have this validating of
a season yeah words can’t describe how
much it means and just how satisfying it
is is still gu has one big question in
his golf career whether he will be
allowed to participate in golf’s four
major championship tournaments seeing as
he was the best individual player on the
Liv circuit this year it makes sense
that he would be considered one of the
best players in the Golf World At Large
gu’s live teammate Graham McDow agrees
not only for GU but for the live roster
at large McDow said I think the big keys
right now are major championship access
for players on live he continued you
start looking down the list of guys that
are not exempt for the majors next year
Wen Neeman and Taylor gu are just two of
the top of my head the majors need those
guys because they are top 25 in the
world players G said that he appreciated
the praise saying when you have a major
champion and a great player like Graham
saying that it’s an honor he obviously
also wants to be in the major
tournaments and said on the subject we
all know in the game we know that there
are players deserving to be in the
majors so it is cool Whenever there are
other guys that are going about for me
un fortunately that does not do anything
so we will see what they decide in a
separate interview gu spoke more on the
same subject saying being able to play
in the majors it’s the Pinnacle of golf
of course if I don’t get that chance
that’s going to suck so hopefully people
will get together in the golf world and
figure out how do we make sure the best
of the best are playing in the best
tournaments year in and year out which
are the majors this brings us to Gucci’s
interesting recent comments about Tiger
Woods gu invoked Tiger Woods on a recent
podcast interview where he was asked if
he felt that the added component of rest
in live golf and the reduced number of
events had contributed to his improved
play to this gu said I think time will
tell in this short span so far I think
that’s where the jury would side with
you on that I would agree with that I
think it’s very personal there are some
people who have more success playing you
know 30 weeks a year and some people
have more success playing 18 weeks a
year or 20 weeks a year whatever it
might be but I think if you look at the
history of golf the best of the players
were very rarely playing 30 weeks a year
gu continued by mentioning an example
saying this may be a bad example but
like let’s just use tiger for example he
was as rested if you will as anyone for
the biggest weeks of the year and for
certain weeks of the year and it’s
because of his schedule and part of it
is because he played so great it would
allow him for it he was able to get
dialed in that’s the word I keep using
with live is like it allows me to set
not only a tournament schedule but a
practice schedule and a travel schedule
that allows me to be more were dialed in
for the weeks that’s an interesting idea
it brings to mind the question of
whether or not players who are still
with the PGA Tour would consider the
reduced event schedule as not only a
bonus in terms of workload but that it
could even improve their overall play
from the recent interviews with John ROM
it seems like that was a factor in his
decision could more players pick up on
this when considering a live move as for
GU this next Live season will bring a
change about for his game as he changed
teams in the offseason as part of the
range goats last season gu earned a
second place team finish but he ended up
replacing Matthew wolf on Brooks kepa’s
smash GC team for this coming season
it’s a move that kka is very excited
about as he elaborated more on in the
press this couldn’t be a stronger
offseason move for us bringing Taylor in
Smash GC goes from a contender to a
juggernaut in 2024 he’s the ultimate
competitor a three-time live golf
tournament winner and crowned the
individual champion
we had our own battles on the course
last season I’d be lying if I didn’t say
how excited I am to see him on the
podium for our Squad now Kea continued
he’s not only an incredible player on
course but we’re proud to support
Taylor’s dedication to give back through
his foundation and positively impacting
the Next Generation Taylor is exactly
the type of player that I see being the
foundation for the smash GC franchise
we’re ready to get to work only time
will tell whether or not gu will
continue his hot streak on his new team
but if he wins another individual title
and a team championship at the same time
next season we may have to start talking
about him as one of the best players in
the world regardless of where he plays
