Just Embrace Trade up Scenario ?

Analysis of the New York Jets

what’s up everybody Tyson Rous let’s
talk Jets hope everybody had an
excellent week it’s raining again in New
Jersey so what else is new uh thank you
to everybody that’s been checking out
the live streams I greatly appreciate
thank you to all the guests as well
Conor Rogers Ryan with jets talk 247
gunny obviously I do the weekly thing
with jet Central got Joe blue up Monday
night so I’m trying my best to get a lot
of draft coverage in there my schedule
has been absolutely ridiculous so the
draft is what Thursday night and right
now the first thing everybody was like
what were your thoughts on the Joe
Douglas Press Conference and my thoughts
were I don’t have any right now is the
ultimate smoke screen season where
general managers are literally paid to
lie to you because they’re not going to
reveal their hand whatsoever agents are
leaking stories teams are leaking
stories I don’t believe a word I see it
now it comes down to draft night and the
more I think about things and I’m not
like a mock draft expert I’m not a
college football expert I just check out
players do my fair share research and a
form opinion
and the more I think about things I
think the Jets should trade up I think
they should trade up for a particular
player but let me preface this video by
saying this I know the reaction right up
the bat and I’m going to say listen I
have an enormous amount of respect for
the need for offensive line help I think
Joe Douglas has done a very good job
trading for Morgan Moses caught us all
off guard Morgan Moses coming off a peck
injury avt coming off an injury Tyron
Smith where you know you could probably
you’re hoping to get 12 or 13 good games
out of him there’s a lot of uncertainty
there but they are solid players that if
healthy the Jets will have a solid
offensive line I also think that the
Jets you you’re developing Carter Warren
who missed most of the offseason last
year due to injury who’s developing and
he has a first NFL off season you got
Max Mitchell you can also sign Conor
McGovern you could also sign David
bakari you could also get a lineman in
the later rounds and actually coach them
up and develop them while I understand
the the first round is like you’re
getting the best value the best value at
some point the general manager has to do
a very good job of getting good value in
the later rounds and that’s what Joe
Douglas has to do in this situation
where fourth round get a guy that can
compete be be a you know like a quality
backup because if you have Aaron Rogers
as your quarterback now the thing last
year was just get rid of get rid of the
football quickly do the same thing this
year all your offensive line has to do
is hold the fort give him a few seconds
to get rid of the football so you do
that you establish a running game so in
terms of the offensive line in the
fourth round get a solid guy that can
just compete and in in a pinch can play
hold his own that’s all I’m looking for
here then it goes down then it falls on
Keith Carter hacket and Salah to get
these guys on the same page and play
quality football with that being said
this team desperately needs legitimate
game-breaking Talent now I respect what
Mike Williams brings to the table I also
have concerns is when he’s actually
going to be available to practice when
he’s going to be a available to play and
then when he’s available to play at a
very high level is that week one is that
week four is that week six when is that
because then I have the concerned of if
Garrett Wilson gets banged up what are
we doing also if you want to look at you
know maximizing Aaron Rogers the next
two years Assuming he’s playing two
years you want the best talent on the
field around him for the next two years
for me that means a gamebreaking talent
that means wide receiver and that means
trading up to get one of them now the
question will be twofold how far do you
want to go up and what player do you
want to get and then the third question
is what’s your compensation to me the
Draft starts with the Cardinals where
the number four pick I think teams are
going to I think a lot of teams are
going to try to tra to get a quarterback
if the Cardinals go Marvin Harrison Jr
there which they should then what do you
do because the Chargers and Giants the
next two right Chargers and Giants both
need quarterbacks so that’s where things
get interesting you have a feeling the
Chargers are going to trade back the
Giants may take a quarterback but I
think that’s where you start looking up
and saying okay if Marvin Harrison Jr’s
off the board who is the next next best
receiver and for me it’s neighbors
that’s like every evaluation I’ve seen
all the research done it’s like Marvin
Harrison Jr neighbors a little drop down
a Dun and then you go from there with
the other guy Brian Thomas Jr sorry I
keep mixing up names so to me it’s like
I want the best of the best I want
legitimate guys that can can break man
coverage can play in the SL and play
deep that’s like you know paired up with
Garrett Wilson this is a a tandem that
will create absolute nightmares for
opposing defenses when was the last time
the Jets really had that what Decker and
Marshall and it’s like keeping up with
the speed the rest of the game
like if you want to have this Dynamic
Jets offense and take pressure off Aaron
Rogers a little bit that’s how you do it
so in terms of trading up you know you
look at what the Falcons the Bears they
could both they could both want
defensive players so if you trade up to
seven or eight no I’m sorry the eight or
nine you go up to seven with the Titans
you’re only going back you’re only going
up two spots three spots the
compensation won’t be crazy and in terms
of compensation I’m offering next year
stuff now I understand I’m robbing Peter
to pay Paul I don’t care a second round
pick next year I’ll worry about that
next year I want this guy on the field
this year to make this team as best
possible in a win now year so if you
tell me I got to give up a second round
pick and whatever a fourth rounder this
year and something else to move up sign
me up I’ll do that I have no problem
doing that to get game breaking toal
that that’s the key for this you want to
be able to compete with all the
highflying offens in the AFC especially
when you’re supporting when you have
this great defense that to me is a
recipe for legitimately making a run at
the a East legitimately making a run
deep in the playoffs and going from
there and then you have your contingency
because like I said earlier if G Wilson
goes down what are we going to do like I
like like the offensive line you have
your backup playing with McGovern and
baktiar and see Carter Warren and
whoever was your sign with wide
receivers there’s going to probably be a
pretty big drop off I mean as of this
video I’m not sure if hunt the rro
signed yet I know Boyd’s out there and
SAU is hanging out with Beckham those
are all cool things but it’s like that’s
they’re like oneye fixes you get
neighbors that’s fine then you’re got
guy for next four or five years the next
thing is would you trade for adun and
that’s the interesting one where I’m
like you know what where is it at if say
neighbors goes where if he goes at
whatever to the Giants at six then you
know the receiver could actually fall to
you to 10 I wouldn’t trip I think you
let him fall for you fall to you at 10
if that doesn’t happen that it say he
goes before then at 10 you got an
interesting choice because the playmaker
thing is still in effect where you have
Bowers sitting there where you could
consider him a wide receiver based on
his side guys or do you say you know
what you at 10 you trade back say you go
back to the Colts at 15 or wherever else
and then you get Brian Thomas Jr there
another guy with a ridiculous talent but
to me as much as I appreciate the need
for offensive line help it’s wide
receiver and the I know the other answer
is well how about if you go offensive
line at Pick 10 or you know or you trade
back you get somebody and you go you tra
in the second round to get a wide
receiver for me I want the top of the
top and to me once you into third round
fourth round you respect the talent or
you tra up in the second round you
respect the talent but it’s like all
right is it it’s a step below so I’m
looking for the best of the best here
getting kind of greedy getting kind of
selfish and this is my little world I
know a lot of draft experts will dispute
this and say I’m crazy and these players
aren’t worth it I’m just tired of seeing
a team that can’t score can’t score
points and I’m tired of like I’m not
tired I’m just I have legitimate
concerns about how the Jets wide
receiver room is currently constructed
with an an unknown Mike Williams Lazard
they they’re probably trying to trade
him and can’t brownley and Gibson
completely unproven not unproven but you
know what you’re not really sure what
they are so bring in just give it a
complete upgrade to the room so let me
know what you think and I’ll talk to you
later

  1. Why would it make any sense for Douglas to consider trading back for either an offensive lineman or a bottom tier wide receiver knowing that “THIS IS PROBABLY IT” for both him and Saleh. For me, he MUST GO ALL IN and trade up hopefully and preferably for Harrison Jr. Someone to complement opposite Garrett is the MOST OBVIOUS PRESSING NEED!
Nothing against Odunze, Nabers, or Bowers but shoot for the moon 🌕🤷🏾‍♂️

  2. I agree. And I think JD will be aggressive trying to move up!

Tyson, would you trade next year’s 1st for Harrison?

  3. Also F Peter. I think we finally have our GM. Yes he has to win, but the man showed he can find talent and construct a roster. Hopefully he wins and we all get extensions!

  4. Your on the right train of thought!Problem for you guys is obvious…Rodgers want make it far ……Coaching is terrible and can not develope hair on its head!So thats why your on the right track!Get a explosive player so when the season over by mid season and the coaching staff and Gm is Fired you can have hope for the next regime!Enjoy your podcast even thoug thank Yahweh im not a jets fan!

  5. Tyson I think the Jets should play it safe and take Fashanu. Brock Bowers would be interesting because you can line him up as a Fullback or an H Back. But taking Bowers commits the Jets to taking an O Lineman in the 3rd Round. Right now the Jets depth at OT is just too thin to consider a Wide Receiver before the 4th Round.

  6. It would be awesome to trade down a few spots to get a 2nd rounder, draft an OT in the first and a WR in the 2nd

  7. QB, LT, EDGE. Franchise positions. Starting to think elite TE can be in the mix soon. Id go Bowers and maybe even trade down for more picks

  8. I agree with you Tyson but to me if we are going to trade up we may as well try to blow ARZ away to try to get MHJ. Pairing him and GW up together would be 🔥🔥🔥

  9. jets are so close, the more i think about things, lets trade up , lets also see what we can do to get back in first round , or early second round, im saying lets get 2 studs and who cares about next years picks, use them , lets get the second number 1 wr, lets get a top tackle, find one of the free agent rbs to back up breece… i think we can make a move with the chargers at 5..trade your 1 and 2 of next year, trade your 3rd and 4th this year… i mean damn, if we are all in, then lets go all in, the plan for future thing ive been doing since richard todd…cuz like usaid if we can move up grab a stud wr and even get another first round pick for our tackle…. i know what i said sounds crazy, get your studs now, give up assets to get them, that will give use legit 2 year window

  10. Reports are that AZ may trade their pick to the Vikings who will then pick JJ. Then the Chargers will have Harrison in their laps. I don't see the Jets trading with the Giants who would most likely pick Nabers. It's been predicted that Tenn will take Alt while ATL and Chicago will go for D. Odunze could fall to the Jets in this scenario. I agree that the Jets need to give Wilson some big time help.

  11. Children draft receivers, adults draft lineman. How much high draft capital has Joe Douglas already used on wide receivers since he's gotten here? How many winning seasons has that translated to? Joe Douglas has been a disaster. 5 years later, we're still talking about all the same positions. How the hell this guy still have a job?

  12. Highly unlikely that a trade up occurs. If someone falls to 8 (Falcons) different story. Nothing above as it’s too much compensation.

  13. Thank you. Finally someone said it. Everyone is pounding the table for an OL that may or may not play a few games. We can get that later and develop that OL. I want a weapon that put fear in the other teams hearts. The Bengals didn't need a WR but needed a OL at the time when they drafted Ja'Marr Chase. They gave their QB another option and teams something else to think about. I want that for years to come beyond Rodgers.

Give me one of the WR or Brock

  14. I’m hoping for a trade whether it’s up for a Harrison/Nabers or back to recoup a 2nd rounder for an o lineman or pass catcher. Sticking and picking at 10 doesn’t seem ideal

  15. We all should embrace whatever decision they make…. up, down, stay put: OL, WR, or Bowers, it really doesn't matter as long as they get it right. An impact player at any of those positions is a great pick, but particularly in a trade down scenario. We don't have to overthink it, just get it right.

  16. If Rashee Rice didn't step up, that KC WR corps is pretty mundane, and even with him it's not as good as the Jets WR corps on this day. Just something to think about.

  17. Tyson – You need to look at the Jets from the opposing GM point of view.
Opposing GMs see an absolutely Win Now team with a 40+ Yr Old QB coming off a severe injury, an injury-prone older OL, and an injury-prone older backup QB.
Both our HC and GM are on the hot seat and will be gone without a playoff appearance.
Under those circumstances, any trade up will require our Number 1 pick next year.
When teams think you are desperate, then they will short-change you on every transaction, you will pay more to trade up and also get a lesser offer when you try to trade down.
Desperation is no way to run a front office.
If 40 Yr Old Aaron gets injured and remember, tendons snap easier after 37, then we start all over again, except we have about 60M in dead money for Aaron.

  18. The Jets no matter what, must come up with a Big time Playmaker WR,to help GW, I couldn't even imagine if GW had to miss a few games, the Jets would be in trouble trying to score points, and as usual go Jets from Detroit.

  19. We need to get a real strength and conditioning coach at 1 Jets Drive this year because the number of injuries that have been plaguing this team over the past few years has been ridiculous. If I had to guess i would say the Jets get injured more often than the average. It's absolutely insane.

  20. As a giants fan, I’d recommend drafting Brian Thomas Jr. I’d see if I can trade back and draft him. He was a higher rated player than Nabers coming into college and any other regular WR class, Thomas would be a borderline top 10 WR. He’d be a great vertical compliment to Wilson, he also has a lot of up side

  21. This exact same argument can be used for drafting an O lineman at 10. Its up to JD to find pro bowl level talent at receiver in the later rounds. Every year we see late rounders be pro bowlers their rookie years. Look at Nakua last year. Its significantly easier to find pro bowl recievers later than offensive lineman

  22. What I dont understand is AROD has never used or had a T-END to be his best. Please give trade up for NABERS and we're ALL IN SERIOUS

  23. I'm not trading up for anyone not named MHJ. Give me Bowers at 10. Best prospect on the board at that point

  24. I am ALL IN with getting another elite WR. Especially with having a QB that will get them the ball.
