The DP World Tour heads to Japan this week for the ISPS HANDA – CHAMPIONSHIP at the Taiheiyo Club. Matthieu Pavon will be teeing it up this week. He’s been on top form this season with his most recent success being a debut T12 finish at the Masters to earn a return visit to Augusta National next year. He also finished solo fifth at the Porsche Singapore Classic in March and made history by becoming the first French winner on the PGA TOUR since 1907 in January by winning the Farmers Insurance Open. Jesper Svensson will be in the field this week. He claimed victory at the Porsche Singapore Classic last month and claimed a 2nd place finish at the Bahrain Championship in February. Svensson is just one spot behind leader Keita Nakajima on the Asian Swing and can guarantee a place in the field at the Genesis Scottish Open with a strong performance. A home favourite Rikuya Hoshino will also fancy his chances at the Taiheiyo Club this week. He claimed victory at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February and finished runner-up here two years ago. Others to look out for are Yannik Paul, Dylan Frittelli and Ewen Ferguson.

Ali Whitaker in the commentary box
joined today by Rob Lee and Tony
Johnston who played the 2001 World Cup
here a place you know well Tony I
certainly do and it’s actually in just
as fine a condition as I ever remember
it being oh my goodness what a
shot dead
online best though from 114 yards
there’s a back stop just beyond this pin
which you can use so pitch it long pitch
it spin it
back good call good call iny Beauty
Rob Rafa
cabao sweet swinging Rafa three underpar
in second to the
first
is very
good day about to get better I fancy
a six in the meantime with Nagano is in
that group in a share of fourth place
for now at minus five first green Yanik
Paul 65 on day one this is to start with
a bang on Friday give it a chance oh
pick it out with Feeling by the
way the one with soda BG
oh
yes just rolling them in from everywhere
on the
screen yanic
Paul his own individualistic golf
swing but he knows it he trusts it and
it
repeats Soderberg
I think he’s back
Tony I know he’s back now oh what a
beauty for birdie at to Yanik Paul and
he joins Tom vant at minus
7 down to two with
Soderberg well the pouring them in this
group and just making it look very
straightforward and
easy 290 yds all uphill little bit into
the breeze if
anything oh he’s a big
boy what a shot he’s a lot longer than
you think Yanik Paul he’s he’s a bit
kind of wiy and awkward but he can send
it yeah soda bug’s already chipped up I
wish puted it though now Yanik Paul with
the eagle part right to left at the
end oh still a try it’s going to be a
three birdy start for yanek
Paul
ve after leaving his approach put this
far
away oh well done well done
nice way to top off two very good
[Applause]
days good birdie chance at three can he
get to Seven under yes he
can and there’s a little bit of a backs
slope behind the hole but as you guys
saw in the previous green the greens
have really firmed up there’s not a lot
of spin back in them right now
that’s pretty sweet eyeing off the tea
in a cracking
second so he can be a little bit more
aggressive whereas the other two had to
be
defensive
beautiful he’s
back oh how about that
[Applause]
Tom
kban willowy wiry
strength and easily enough power to get
there what a
beauty over to McKibbon little left to
right no trouble
eag up ahead at the green gab
Bao search for a dash of red from about
30
ft nothing but
[Applause]
net from this
range hello oh just beautifully played
nicely done K rolling on
in sua down at the path rate up on
height good 15 18 pieces Paces above the
green man nearly knocked out the flag
stick there
seems to have struggled a little with
the pace today as robly said but not
there
perfect yeah well deserved too six
under the enigmatic howong Lee who’s
piling along at minus5 here at four
cracker that’s just about the best shot
we’ve seen in there what a beauty
it’s almost looking like he’s finding a
little
consistency Cho the only one of the
group to find the
Fairway good swing good pass at
it let jump over to Shimizu at 14 his
second on the way
gorgeous what
control like we said this to get within
one of San
besto
[Applause]
mate hopefully a paty breaks to
McKibbon right to left down the hill at
eight
[Applause]
to sugura at
seven we know it’s
quick he knows it’s in was all over
it another one for yanic Paul they come
in clutches for him
Cracker
Jack my
kiban wanting desperately to get this
seven under down within three of the
lead and
does what a nice hold to birdie that
is just a three4 swing low
spinner oh
[Applause]
Beauty again within one soda BG
cracker
cracker Exquisite
[Applause]
contact get in it’s not
missing and then there were three he
joins bestto and Yanik PA at minus 10
so Ura second into
14 and not too much spin just a little
just a little beautifully played a shot
where you just wrap it around get it
chasing hooking a little bit right to
left but You’ hit too far be blocked out
for the
next I
think having a che with
it oh what a shot shot of the day I
would say that one with a hybrid shot of
the
[Applause]
day millimeters away from the outright
lead like you say the third shot nearly
deserved it to drop nonetheless it’s a
matching 65 to that of yesterday for
Yanik Paul
well this would be for a round of
62 for Tai
Sato and he’s gone and done it his
preferred lies so it doesn’t go down as
a course record but it is technically
the best score that we’ve seen uh in
tournament play around this layout very
fine work and he’s earned himself well
and truly a share of the late after that
well done to watch another DP world to
