are hybrids true replacements for irons
we have a five hybrid five iron do they
go the same distance let’s figure it
[Music]
out today for our simple test to see if
our five iron and five hybrid go the
same distance I have three balls that
are number ones I have three balls that
are number threes the first will be five
irons the second will be five hybrids
we’ll go down see the distances if it’s
truly a replacement so first off the
five
[Music]
irons all right pretty good grouping
there now for our five hybrid
[Music]
all right we got three with the five
iron three with the hybrid let’s go down
and check them
[Music]
out okay we get up here I got three
balls right here the number
one a number
one and a number one so all my five
irons pretty tightly grouped right here
you
know 1 2 3 4 5 six yards further up I
have the three hybrids So within six
yards for a shot that for me is 190 is
yards that’s pretty good that’s a pretty
close repacement there so I have to
figure the hybrid’s going to go a touch
farther little bit more consistent with
that larger more forgiving body on it
than a five iron so pretty good
replacement when I’m talking about the
gapping within my set so I would have to
see what type of Gap now do I have
between my six iron and five hybrid if I
were to put that hybrid into the bag and
then if I’m playing a four hybrid or a
seven wood what’s the gapping there
that’s the most important step not just
how far does it go but what’s the gap
between the club behind and the club
before so that you can tell what club to
hit when and you don’t have just a 5
yard difference between clubs you’re
getting a 10 12 yard difference between
clubs now you have some variation now
you can more accurately more precisely
hit into the greens so is a five hybrid
a good replacement for a five iron I
would say yes it is so keep that in mind
and until next time we’ll see you on the
golf course
