good morning we are live on the Falcons
podcast at our news start time 8:30
morning and just a little after as we’re
working out the Kinks including me
dropping off my daughter at 8:28 at the
bus stop so uh welcome in everybody I
want to bring in our Facebook groups as
well and yes this will be our new time
moving forward 8:30 Eastern so hopefully
you can get some of your pre-work in
there as well and we are just about
ready to go welcomeing everybody this is
the Monday Morning Edition of the
Falcons podcast we are at our new time
at 8:30 in the mornings on Monday
Wednesday and Friday and Nick as I was
writing up the intro to this show I said
next week’s NFL draft yes it is next
week are you ready we’ve been talking
about it for six months at least yeah
I’m ready for the hypotheticals to go
away I it’s a lot of fun to do the mock
draft and getting uh learn a lot of
these guys but also it is a it’s time um
we need to see what happen here and
break down the fits rather than just the
hypotheticals yeah for sure and and talk
about where and then we can grade and
hindsight and all that type of stuff I
mean shoot I’m still talking about you
know the 2011 or 2012 draft and the 1989
draft so it’s to me that’s one of the
things that makes it so much fun is to
go back and look who got it right who
got it wrong where was I right where was
I wrong and I’ll I’ll probably tell you
more about what I was wrong about than
what I was right about so uh lots of
stuff to get into want to set up the
show for you just a a little bit Nick
sent me a stat over the weekend you know
we’ve talked about B basically the three
main edges and really we feel like
there’s a one and a two Dallas Turner
and Jared verse and he sent me a stat
over the weekend that just screamed one
of the other it was like oh this is the
guy this is this is gonna be the guy so
we’ll get into that a little bit also
milk hyper and field Yates over on ESPN
plus did a three round mock draft where
they alternated picks one two you know
uh who had the odds who had the evens I
don’t remember um but it doesn’t matter
we’ll get to that in just a moment but
uh we want to go through that as well
talk about some of the players the
Falcons get some of the players that
were available and we’ll might finish
with a mock draft Monday we’ll see but
we’ll definitely but one of the reasons
we wanted to go early is because this
has only been a 30 minute show for the
time being we’re going to go right up
and two just about an hour today on
Mondays so welcome in everybody one of
the reasons we go live it’s because we
like having the discussion with y’all
and we’ve got some folks that have come
in here before we even got started like
Victor Atkins good to see you he says uh
good morning Scott Nick and Falcons fam
the draft cannot come soon enough we’re
about what 10 days away next Thursday
it’ll come quick I feel like we could go
in any direction with this draft Yeah we
there’s lots of possibilities because
the Falcons are in a good spot they’ve
got a good spot in the draft if they
want to sit sit tight and take one of
the top guys there they’re in a good
spot to trade back and that that gives
you a lot of options Joseph Smithy says
good morning Scott and Falcons Nation
have you tried the the Kirkland brand of
coffee from Costco probably but I tell
you what I’ve been drinking lion coffee
for probably just about two years now
since since uh Patrick Willy started uh
sending us some he keeps us caffeinated
and that’s kind of where uh where we’ve
been so I’m all about the lion coffee
this one for you real quick we got a
super coming in from Mike Harvey he says
uh Scott and Nick could you rank the top
five quarterbacks in this draft and who
we who do we have a legitimate shot at
in the second or third round if we go uh
Edge at number eight it’s a great
question I think my number one
cornerback probably tyon Arnold he’s a
little bit you know smaller not as
athletic as Kenyan Mitchell so if you
wanted to have Mitchell number one I
would not argue too much but I lean tyan
Arnold uh after that I go even though he
might end up a safety he’s kind of a
super weapon on the back and I’ll
probably go Cooper de jeene next uh
number three then Nate Wiggins I’m a
little bit worried about the size of the
Nate Wiggins especially with the uh the
tackling rules I mean 173 he flies but
he is just teeny teeny tiny and then
after that I mean honest to God Scott I
this kind of qualifiers there’s not that
many amazing boundary Corners in this
class but my next guy’s probably Mike
Sandra still um who’s a pure slot but
like he is a dude out there at Michigan
I remember watching him at the the game
two years ago and being like okay this
number zero guy is pretty unbelievable
uh great tackler lot of energy so he’s a
slot we’ll see where he falls in the
draft uh but I really like uh s sandr
still Mike sandr still um who’s just
high energy player everywhere you you
just feel him on the field uh Mike
appreciate the Super Chat breaking the
ice forest this morning getting us going
like that with the uh with the support
uh I’m with Nick I could go terion arold
or quinon Mitchell either way one and
two and then probably after that you go
uh either Cooper Dee or Nate Wiggins I
like Cooper deene a lot I really do then
there’s some guys that we have talked
about a lot that are kind of climbing up
one of the guys we take in the dra in
the in the mocks all the time Andrew
Phillips cornerback out of Kentucky he
might be one of the top 50 guys now um I
like Kyrie Jackson in the third out of
Oregon and then I haven’t seen as much
of TJ Tampa but I’ve seen him get some
really nice top 40 type of grades Max
Melton’s a bit of a sleeper he’s moving
up some so and then you know we took
Kamari Lasser uh in the mock last week I
I know the uh the 40 times scary but
Nick how do you run a 4640 and a 66 El
cone something doesn’t match there that
doesn’t jive I mean 66 is Elite that’s
that’s
99.9% and that’s functional
speed and the 40 we we had this
discussion for a while you know 46 was
kind of my cut off for cornerbacks of
okay are you fast enough I’m like he’s
fast enough for me well then you throw
that elone in there you’re like well
he’s athletic as hell I mean what what’s
going on is it technique because you can
train up a 48 guy to a 46 I’ve seen it
happen in Gwynette County for
years that uh you know did you get a bad
start or what because a 66 I think he
was 662 he was number one in the draft
Nick he ran a
664 I thought that was peol was
664 uh last I ran a 664 okay so I was
off by two 100s of a second what I know
was that was number one yeah it was not
great um 10 yards split
of8 uh came in at start he got a bad
start which is trainable which is
absolutely trainable to get more
explosion off the start because you’re
coming out of a track stance for
goodness sakes so someone asked me the
other day my son’s got an elite 60 time
which is what they test in baseball it’s
it’s elite it’s like top two% for his
age group and they said what’s his 40
I’m like I don’t know I’ve never tested
him in the 40 14 years old and he has no
idea how to run a 40 yard dash and in in
baseball you start like you’re on the
bases with your legs you know side
saddled and then you turn and go like he
does that all the time so I I feel like
like with ler the 40 times a technique
thing Nick it’s got to be if you’re
putting up a 66 L cone three cone might
be um I the three cone was 93rd
percentile which you’re right is very
good short shuttle uh 62nd percentile I
know it’s just a weird profile I
probably wouldn’t take him until round
three um round four uh personally just
because that
464 um not just not a great time uh it’s
an outlier something’s just not right
there and also just nowadays I knew it
used to be a long time I was in the camp
of like oh yeah that they didn’t run at
the combine it’s because they’re going
to go faster at whatever their home
track is but those days have changed uh
the track in Indie now is very friendly
so when you see somebody not run at
Indie that’s not related to injury or
something like that it’s like okay well
what’s why would they be advised not to
run at what is a very fast track right
now it’s it’s not like a few years ago
all of a sudden we have the fastest
class ever over and over and over again
Indie was notoriously a medium to slow
track and then they switched it out 2020
and now it’s a fast track uh so I think
it’s the conditions changed Mike thank
you for the super lots of cornerbacks in
that we’ve talked about the three
biggest needs in this team Edge
cornerback two safety starting safety
and that’s what Terry Clark comes in we
just kind of roll this one right in says
good morning Scott and Nick I feel like
you’ve discussed the needs at Edge a ton
how are we going to fill the needs in
the secondary particularly safety are we
good at inside linebacker as well I’ll
go backwards and then I’m going to hand
it off to you Nick are we good an inside
linebacker as well yes I I think you’re
just fine an inside linebacker kayen
Ellis can play inside and then roome
around some Troy Anderson should be back
in healthy he was drafted High I think
he was the first inside linebacker taken
in that draft if not he was he was close
um and then uh and then Nate lman was he
does a job you know one of the most uh
one of the bigger surprises one of the
bigger pleasant surprises in last year’s
uh last year’s team you’re good at with
three there so that’s just fine and then
you’ve got two that can roam around a
little bit so yeah I think you’re good
at linebacker corner and safety or needs
two and three on this team
Nick safety’s up there safety you don’t
have to spend a premium resource to get
a viable player out there now I know
some people will you know be like well
what
about uh gosh the safety that you guys
have right now who I’m name is ESC
escaping right now from UCF um you know
he was a third round safety and didn’t
really match lead up to very much maybe
second round was a second safety taken
and he was uh I liked him that’s a Miss
on my part too you know I was happy with
that pick but it hurts in hindsight to
go oh goodness there was Javon Holland
went after the pick that the Falcons
trade out of and now he’s what made two
pro bowls in his first three years um
but I I was a Miss on Richie Grant too I
like the pick yeah uh little older some
tackling questions I mean he’s he’s fine
but that’s somebody like he’s not fine
though he’s playing at a yeah he’s not
he’s playing at a sub par level I mean
average fine would be average yeah he’s
not average right now he’s $4 million
which is above average and he’s playing
at a well below average level and that’s
not good enough he’s probably playing
about at a fifth round investment uh but
there’s a lot of day two safeties that
should be available I know there’s a lot
of love for Jaden Hicks out of
Washington state still extremely young
good size profile as well 215 uh Tyler
nuan’s been thought to be the number one
safety by a lot of people coming out of
Minnesota some people think Cooper Dee
might be up there I know that you really
like uh Javon Bullard Scott uh you know
I like Malik Mustafa so there’s I think
round three round four is where I’d be
looking for that safety somebody of some
Talent is going to be available maybe
use a second round pick but with where
the market’s at right now with all the
guys available unless it’s a slam dunk
pick um I probably would be looking
round three round four at the earliest
yeah and that’s the thing Terry is you
can get it’s hard not to go Corner in
the second round but it’s hard not to go
wide receiver in the second round as
good as this draft is so maybe Terry you
take the two thirds pair them together
and move up and take two second round
picks instead instead of getting three
picks second third third maybe go second
second and I can go a second wide
receiver but that that doesn’t I can go
quarterback wide receiver that doesn’t
address the safety need so that’s still
that’s still something that needs to be
out there that said there’s some good
safy still available in free agency that
I think teams are now waiting we’ll just
wait for the draft we we’ll wait for the
draft and then see what happens on that
what we don’t have to wait for I’ll tell
you that much is uh is our coffee in the
morning so make sure you get your day
started the way Nick and I start ours
with Lion coffee they fuel us every
morning the Hawaii based Coffee Company
can fill all your needs from single
serving dark roast Island flavors and
decaf if that’s your thing I’ve got the
Cafe Honolulu which is a medium dark and
it’s just right for me Nick what do you
what do you got today Macadamia and
vanilla uh Patrick’s I said that I like
that one and he hooked me up man so
drinking the Mac Damian vanilla here a
little flavor of coffee and I I do add a
little bit of cream uh creamer to mine
too Scott that’s the midwestern in me I
drank black sometimes in the back
country or whatever when I’m doing stuff
like that but I like a little bit of a
creamer in there too maybe I soil it but
hey it’s my cup of joe so I’ll
appreciate it how I like it but yeah
love it so good shout out to Lion Coffee
Company they’re the best yeah I’m not
real big on flavored coffees but I tried
the coconut one with that Patrick sent I
was like Wow and what I like doing is I
like the way it makes my whole my office
is downstairs in my basement coconut
coffee
smelling in my basement for the rest of
the day is very nice I do like that one
so thanks Ling coffee I’ll put a link in
the chat check it out they can I promise
you they can fill all your needs and
their coffee is absolutely
delicious let’s get back to the super
chats Robbie red comes in he has a
question for us he says good morning
everyone are you guys streaming the
draft uh thanks are y’all streaming the
draft that is up in the air I will be on
I will be on for sure uh I will start
here on these channels uh basically when
uh the clock starts so 810 or whatever
it is or 710 Whatever Whenever the Draft
starts as soon as the Bears are on the
clock we’ll go live maybe just a shade
before that I’ll try and bring Nick in
and out he may have Broncos Duty he may
have Daddy duty but uh I’ll need y’all
on here because my voice will go out
after the several hours it takes and
I’ll go I’ll I’ll stay on until the
Falcons pick so that’s the plan right
now is to go live at the start of the
draft and go until uh the Falcons pick
and then a little bit of a an instant
reaction for that one and we’ll talk
about maybe we’ll go a little bit longer
because right after the Falcons pick
that’s probably when the numbers will
Spike that’s when the most people will
come in so thank you Robbie we’ll see
you there Cory Carter he’s got his draft
already to go he says eight Edge Dallas
Turner uh Ray straw that’s
cornerback cornerback sounds so much
like another offensive tackle uh Ricky
peaw at 74 good luck getting Ricky piol
at 74 wide receiver out of Florida out
of Florida 79 safety Bo braid 109 Mason
Smith defensive tackle 143 Theo Johnson
and then Joe Milton and defensive tackle
Zion log to close it out be pretty good
draft I just I think you’re gonna have a
hard time getting Ricky Piel below 50
he’s he’s uh he finished second in the
El cone and he has a 42inch vertical
leap and he’s got hands Like Glue he’s
really really good he’s one of those
guys that make me really want another
second round picnic yeah he’s talented
we’ll see what happens there’s so many
good wide receivers in this class that
maybe he falls to the back of the second
round maybe he ends up being be a little
bit more slot Centric uh in the end
which maybe devalues him some I think he
can play Z just fine uh but he’s
definitely an interesting uh player and
back end of the second round midc round
I’d expect him to come off board here’s
a question from Daniel uh and I’m
guessing you mean kin King on this one
at Penn State did he have injury
problems is that one of the reasons he
fell I feel like he played all year and
then when he was at Senior Bowl he just
wasn’t the guy Daniel I’m not sure if
that’s what you’re talking about kin
King Penn State but he says King was in
a bad beverage corner with massive
injury problem have you seen his
recovery journey I think he might be
decent is there a different King we’re
missing out then yes the Falcons signed
Kevin King um Corner oh there we go yeah
that makes more sense I’m in draft mode
dude so apology yeah Kevin King um
overdrafted for sure big size has had
some injuries but just he’s one of those
ones where you kind of learn a little
bit about physics when you watch the
cornerback position where it’s like okay
you’re tall but because of that you
can’t really change direction it’s like
soccer players yep you’re why are the
soccer players all 150 lbs and and small
they’re the low center of gravity and
the change of Direction
Short Stops oh he’s going to outgrow
middle infield well what’s that mean
means the Bend’s a little different
we’re going to have to move him to the
corners for the Outfield because he’s
still a good athlete he’s just too big
and yes there are exceptions we talk
about those Nick all the time yeah
there’s six three corners out there but
they’re different yeah or a lot of times
they’re very scheme specific independent
uh so Kevin King he’s just a little
stiff uh twitched up explosive but not
necessarily in the change direction uh
aspect I see Kaa coming in with Force
equals mass times acceleration so God
bless you getting the physics in this
morning but uh yeah that’s a we’ll see
what happens with him I think he’s just
you know a roster shot there you’re
going to compete maybe he gets a shot
but he’s been uh definitely a
disappointment remember the Packers took
him early second round might have been
one of the first picks after a good
combine uh but never really lived up to
much welcome in our our numbers are
starting to climb after we have moved
our time up 30 minutes so yes this will
be our new time on Mondays Wednesdays
and Fridays we’ll be going at 8:30 so
you know pop us on on YouTube on uh on
your way to work if you’re up where I am
it takes a while to get down to downtown
or wherever you might be going so we
will be going a little bit earlier so
welcome in everybody uh George Patterson
good to see you says good morning Scott
Nick ready for the insights well good
hope you hope you enjoy them like I said
we’re not going to tell you we’re right
but uh we’ll we we’ll be honest with you
and try and hit all of these things
Angel Roa underrated Duo keep hitting
those likes and sub subscribes and
hopefully we won’t be underrated for too
long the uh the Channel’s really taken
off because of people like you Angel so
and Hell uh appreciate it Jordan Brown
good morning Nick and oh and Scott yeah
thank you we’re here too Nick’s name is
never first I usually put it first in
the description just because that’s what
I try to do and then Nick said in the
scientific field it’s actually the
second name that matters most which is
typical for me when I try and do the
right thing I end up making somebody mad
my intentions are always good I’m like a
politician I have good comp had good
intentions sorry it went awful yeah
leading author is the last author in
those papers so it’s good to be the
first second or uh last in the end but
uh thank good to see you Jordan Brown
hope you’re doing well yeah I’m just
happy to be here I’m just here so I
don’t get fin Troy green also good
morning fellas good to see you Troy
Terry ocean boy Martin good to see you
Terry hopefully the new time works
better for you if feel like we haven’t
seen you as much lately says good
morning fellas Morning Bird gang what it
do Scott Nick it do coffee yes thank you
the the coffee Emoji I’ll drink to
that Michael Rano Sunrise sunrose a
little early today Michael and he’s
still here with us he’s out west coast
in Arizona and is still out here on Nick
time in uh at 8:30 this morning so we
are a little earlier Michael I’m glad
you were still able to make it with us
Brad Clark good day everyone rise up
boss trucker good to see you uh anel
buenos Diaz we uh we hit Angel and Andel
Le on mapstone he’s here as well good
morning gentlemen good morning and Jim’s
talking about Kamari Lasser and his top
end speed you maybe he plays fast again
his change of direction is absolutely
Elite his 40 time isn’t all right well
i’ it’s one of those where if I’m
scouting just a
spreadsheet I’m intrigued I’ve seen
enough his El cone I’m sorry if I call
it El cone they they call it three cone
it was an El cone for me it’s a three
cone they
interchangeable they the three cones are
set up in an
l and it’s it’s elite I want to see more
and he plays well so his stock hasn’t
dropped too much we’ll see at least
according to the media we’ll see what
happens on draft night when people start
talking oh why is his stock falling we
don’t know that it has until it does
everything else before that’s just
speculation Nick yeah nope it’s always
chaos right I mean the day before the
draft last year there was a lot of uh
internet Reddit based uh Buzz that will
Levis might actually end up being one of
the like the second pick off the board
um so then he falls to early second
round so you never know until you know
um also it only ever takes one team to
have a drastically different board and
see something different to throw things
into chaos I mean we talk about you know
the edge rushers their top you know
three guys what if one team is just
absolutely obsessed with the the get off
and the tools of chop Robinson and then
he ends up going 11 and things just go
crazy from there so um you never know uh
when the board Falls teams grade these
guys individually we kind of get in this
group think homogeneous this is the way
it is but teams don’t operate that way
uh Leon says uh you know good morning
everyone good to see you and he says
what’s the latest are we still at eight
yes for now there’s some rumors going
around that uh part of the tampering
thing could be a pick swap with the
Vikings at8 and 11 I don’t know the
Falcons don’t feel like they’ve done
anything wrong roll the dice you know
pound sand we’re not doing anything if
you feel like you need to punish us
punish us but we’re not taking a plea
deal um so that that’s kind of the way I
see it Nick yeah who knows um that I saw
was a rumor Mike Florio I think talking
about been it’s been really pushing this
thing from the beginning so he’s got
some he he’s got some Minnesota Vikings
ties basically what tells you is you
know you can you can tell who’s talking
to whom by where they’re getting in
their information and if it’s slanted
one way or the other well I’m not saying
he’s biased but I’m saying he’s being
biased by the information that he’s
getting which is coming all from
Minnesota I’ll tell you that much right
now yeah he’s connected to Minnesota
makes sense he has a Minnesota slant uh
to his reporting given where the
information’s coming from so we will uh
we’ll see what happens uh with that the
fact that we haven’t heard anything yet
this close makes me think maybe it’ll
come and go and it could be maybe a 2025
um come upin but we’ll see uh definitely
keeping our ear to the ground on that
one it’s one of those things in
recruiting said we always had to cross
reference our sources you know okay he’s
telling the Gators he’s coming yeah he’s
telling Georgia he’s coming too you know
I think Ernie Sims back in the day I
always go back to like my first
remembrance he ended up being a first-
round line pick from the Detroit Lions
linebacker one of the best two-way
players I ever saw he committed on every
visit he went every single one of them
so the coaches would call you up and ask
hey this is what he’s telling us what’s
he telling you you know I’m like well
guys he he told the Florida Gators he
was coming to he told Georgia he was
coming too so right now I’d say it’s
warm at best so yes Florio is is mouth
piecing for the Minnesota Vikings right
now that’s that’s my take on this and uh
and we’ll see on this Stephen be says go
Greyhounds most another Pope guy but wer
you weren’t you 96 didn’t I Miss You by
a year class of 96 or was it 959 92 93
94 95 I think you were 95 because if I
remember right you were just a year
behind me at Pope and my son’s John’s
Creek Gladiators just took two of three
or all three of three from Pope high
school um good question up here a little
bit uh let me he with Brad Clark from
Facebook he says I’m confused about Kus
Campbell are we going to sign him or
what’s the hold up I think he’s pretty
important piece to keep I don’t think
there’s any rush so just because if if
he he’s taking his time the Falcons are
taking their time which means I don’t
know what they’re going to do but kalas
Campbell could show up in August and be
ready to play in September so he’s not
in any hurry he’s taking his time and he
could
enjoy not being fine for going to OTAs
or not the bad look at least if he
doesn’t show up I don’t know this just
pure speculation on my part but there’s
no rush for him that that’s a fact so
we’ll see Brad I don’t know there’s
confusion because it’s confusing the
only thing I can do to try and clear it
up is there’s no rush for kassas
Campbell to get into a camp whether it’s
Falcons or whether it’s somebody else
yeah I think this is more of a OTA
conversation than anything else so he
probably doesn’t want to have to go
through that grind and you know delaying
the signing kind of uh leads into that
so I’m I wouldn’t be too worried about
it we’ll see what happens but he’s a
he’s a nice piece to have but also if
something happens and he falls through
um not going to make a
season yeah he just kind of a good
um maybe on there now where did
you why why am I where am I looking at
Nick I sent you a link why can’t I find
the the tweet that you sent
me the the notifications because I’m in
the wrong I’m I’m on my Falcons page
that’s why um let me go over here I want
to bring up this thing that Nick sent me
and it just it’s it answers a couple of
questions honestly so it says you know
about you know why is Dallas
Turner different than Vic Beasley Nick
you want to take a shot at that while
I’m bringing this up yeah so Dallas
Turner uh different player than a lot of
the guys in the class I’m sure we’re
talking about the the Steve pal Palazo
Palazo palazolo PFF Steve former
baseball I think he went up pretty high
like double a tripa a and baseball
before um not working out there but now
working for PFF and um talking about
coverage snaps from The Edge players and
he talks about the top four edges in
this class and one guy stands Far and
Away over the rest in coverage snaps
Dallas Turner 238 coverage snaps
compared to latu at 55 verse at 27 and
Robinson 15 of course some of this is
the player type some of it is the scheme
as well but way out snapping everyone
else here is Turner in the coverage
snaps and why is that of interest
because of just how much Raheem Morris
loves to do that that um as he mentions
here new Falcons coach R Morris Grahams
defense had 355 snaps for at least one
Edge Defender dropped into coverage last
year most in the league so they like to
do a lot of different things with where
their pass R comes from some of this
might be we have Aaron Donald so we can
do different things compared to anybody
else or had Aaron Donald uh but still
worth note of seeing that from Raheem
morrris the last few years dropping
those edges into coverage whether
Leonard Floyd Von Miller sometimes if
you can get home at
works yeah so again just sum up what
Nick says here Raheem Morris had at
least one Edge rusher Dro into coverage
more than anybody in the NFL the most in
the NFL Dallas Turner almost by a factor
of five times was in coverage more than
than latu than verse than Robinson one
that tells me versatility two oh he
doesn’t he doesn’t have the numbers his
numbers dropped off in sacks well give
him another 200 Pass Run is and what’s
his pass rush win rate he probably
throws another five sacks up there if
you need to Alabama didn’t feel they
needed to use him in that way it also
tells me that he’s more than just a
straight line off off the line of
scrimmage beat you explosive Edge rusher
like Vic Beasley Vic Beasley’s athletic
numbers were off the charts but he was
kind of a one-trick
pony I’m G to try and beat you with
speed I’m G to beat you with my with my
uh with my burst Dallas Turner is being
counted on to drop into coverage he’s a
lot more versatile he still has the
athleticism and he’s got the numbers to
back it up if the Falcons stay at eight
if the Falcons go edge this stat
screams Dallas Turner
Nick I mean it it has for a bit right
it’s almost a little bit I want to say
boring redundant uh but he is U the odds
on favorite for for the Falcons um he’s
the odds on favorite to be the first
Defender off the board and uh right now
the odds for eight overall pick uh
Dallas Turner plus this is from FanDuel
uh Dallas Turner plus 250 romad dun plus
550 Leu latu plus 600 versus plus 600
then you got Mitchell and arold at plus
700 and plus 1,000 so far and away uh
Dallas Turner number one um my guy romad
dun right there I don’t know if he’ll be
there when you’re picking but uh we’ll
we’ll see what happens we’ll get to that
next because that’s the uh that’s the
the mock draft done by field Yates and M
hyper and who is who fell to the eighth
spot that the Falcons had available of
that great eight offensive guys but most
of the time Nick what I’ve heard and I’m
not saying herd like oh this is what
someone’s telling me I’m telling you
that I’m saying this is what people are
saying in the media when they’re doing
their mock drafts Falcons have a needed
Edge he’s the best Edge rusher in the
class best pass rusher best Edge rusher
in the class what I haven’t heard is
this is this part of it over here that
he’s the most versatile Dro in coverage
he’s the best fit as well he’s not only
the best Edge rusher in the class
according to most people he’s the best
fit for Raheem Morris as well anybody uh
anybody mind have an Alabama Crimson
Tide Ed rusher coming in I certainly
don’t Dallas Turner at 8 makes a lot of
sense more and more just beyond the oh
yeah they have a need he’s the best pick
him he’s he’s round Peg round hole I
mean it’s you can’t get a better fit
when you start looking at all the
numbers and stuff than Dallas Turner
Raheem Morris Atlanta
Falcons it’s obvious so therefore it
Poss it can’t possibly
happen yeah yeah that was that was I
appreciate you sending that I think that
was um that was an important number for
me to look at he’s also two years
younger uh than latu latu and Jared
verse and a better athlete uh tested
better as well so that’s some of the
times when you’re talking about I’m very
much you know about the horizontal and
vertical board and you have guys that
are close Okay what are factors where we
can separate these guys because it’s not
just you’re not just taking who they are
or who they have been but who they’re
going to be it’s about projecting talent
and when you have somebody who is a
better athlete and younger uh odds are
they have a higher projectable ceiling
the more likely to be higher in the end
now that’s no guarantees in the draft
things change maybe it’s one of those
things Scott where we talk about the
coverage snaps there well is he too
tweener right if he was that good of a
pass rusher why wouldn’t they brush him
every single time you know those are
questions that the college level
especially what do we have going on here
this is it where Turner you know if he
was really that good of a pass rusher
wouldn’t you send him every time so it’s
a double-edged sword sometimes when you
talk about that especially because
Dallas or not Dallas uh the
Crimson Tide’s defense wasn’t all world
uh this year they were very good don’t
get me wrong I agree and that’s that’s
part of it for me
is you know my my my first instinct
would be well it’s Alabama and they’ve
got guys that are going to be day one or
day two picks across their front seven
so they can do a bunch of different
things yeah but again they they
struggled a little bit and here we’re
going to put you know Dallas Turner and
and terion Arnold in the front in the
top 15 so but um couple pretty good
offenses in that that they faced as well
uh let me see here Harry says love y’all
show so much I put off calling a state
lawyer until after show well be done a
little early today so that was one of
the things actually we’re not going to
be done any earlier we’re gonna go right
up until 9:30 which is what we’ve been
doing we’re just starting earlier so we
can get you some more content uh V 839
little Nicholas the fifth he says
morning everyone forgot about the time
change we’re glad you’re here and catch
back up if you if you want to and and
talking about you know Florio and the
Viking side of things one of the one of
the things I preach in the information
business is watch what they do not what
they say you know coaches lie so much
they don’t call it lying they call it
coach speak same thing goes for general
managers and when they call it you know
when when when someone says non-biased I
I prickle at that that’s this that’s
impossible bias is what makes up our
personalities we are all bi biest
everything that we have been through
influences Us in some way so is Mike
Florio is Florio Mike Florio bias with
vik the information from the vik from
the Vikings yes he absolutely is he’s
getting one side of information from the
Minnesota Vikings that biases his
coverage that doesn’t mean he’s wrong
that’s the other thing I try and point
out just because I’m biased I like
bigger receivers you know I think my
son’s a pretty good baseball player I
might be biased it doesn’t mean I’m
wrong so don’t discount what he’s saying
but it didn’t take me long to figure out
that he’s it’s all coming from the
Minnesota Vikings because it’s only one
guy talking only one if it was more then
we’d have a
discussion yep yeah exactly he does have
some inside information still all the
same so we’re not going to completely
discount it but you know when you hear
something like that it’s like well you
have a history here of how reporting so
I’ll listen to you know your inside
stuff like oh if you’re pounding the JJ
McCarthy drum to Minnesota I’m listening
that’s one of those where it’s like it’s
it can be a positive too sometimes but
on the yeah I mean like I said I’m not
saying he’s wrong but I’m saying the
information’s coming from one side it
didn’t take long to figure that out just
watch what they’re doing not necessarily
what they’re saying look at Edward Brown
here says at the dentist office watching
with no volume just reading the comments
everybody say hello to Edward so so
thank you for coming in with a super
chat and at the Dennis office off hope
it goes quickly for you and uh you know
the dentist’s office isn’t Fun for
anybody but it’s really nice having
clean teeth afterwards so I I I like
being done with the dentist so Edward
everybody say hello to Edward in the
chat and say thank you for the Super
Chat and the support for for the show
Coach coming says morning studs he says
uh here’s a coffee Emoji I’ll drink to
that hopefully you got your lion coffee
if you haven’t give it a shot and uh I
promise you won’t miss out more Roar in
every port I said 1964 I was way off
1864 this is almost a 200y old company
we’re talking about here they must have
been doing something right owned by
vampires or something so um and Ryan
Adonis says and I I’m gonna I’m gonna
I’m gonna agree with you on this one Ry
andonis says getting a pass rusher at
eight just to drop back in coverage if
he’s not smacking his head I’m I’m sure
I get it I do I really do but he is a
good pass rusher he he really is he’s a
really good pass rusher if he didn’t
have the best pass rush win rate of this
Bunch it’s pretty close but it goes back
to the same thing I say about B Knicks
when everybody is rationalizing B Knick
at 12 to the Broncos it’s basically to
downplay the quarterback position it’s
it’s saying oh well I don’t need the Big
Arm I just need somebody that can make
the short throws that can nickel and
dime guys well I don’t need to spend
prime rib money to get nickel and
dimes so and that becomes the same thing
that you’re talking about here I get it
Ryan I do uh but I’m thinking he is a
really good I mean we’re not talk oh Leu
latu is kind of the bonix in this
conversation as far as the athleticism
goes he doesn’t quite have the
measurables at Edge that we really want
but he’s good he’s really good you’re
kind of justifying why you would want to
take him at eight or why you would I
don’t want him at eight but God I’d love
to trade back and get him at 20 or get
quinan Mitchell at eight and trade back
up and get latu at 20 so it’s it’s
similar I Ryan I get it I really
do yeah and I mean it’s not like it’s a
uh for Dallas Turner while latu has the
better numbers uh Turner is really close
there with a lot of his Advanced stats
exactly so it’s I’m not really too
concerned uh you have verse latu uh
brilin trce up there as well though the
the the denominators large for for Trice
given the number of snaps that he saw
but your PRP which is a PFF stat which
it combines uh hits It’s a formula
combines sacks hits hurries relatively
to how many times the player is able to
rush the passer so that denominator
comes in uh into context there and you
have leat to latu number one there uh at
13.3 in pressures but Dallas Turner is
ranked third um and that’s playing in
the SEC against much better uh offensive
tackles and just teams and talent in
general uh so he’s right there again two
years younger and tested better and
doesn’t have the medical red flag so uh
the question for me Isn’t So Much Dallas
Turner at eight it’s Turner at eight
versus you know verse latu at 16 you
know where you’re moving back like
that’s the conversation for me like do I
like Turner that much more where the
move back might be a little bit better
it depends on what’s being offered of
course but uh that’s we can really have
a conversation there and then you can
start to play that game with the up and
down where you can get that next tier of
cornerbacks maybe because now you have
draft picks we we’ve played it through
on here a lot Scott but definitely a
conversation John Harold coming in good
morning guys coming in late well we’re
glad you’re here and uh loved the videos
you sent his uh his Mustang drag racing
is
awesome if I have more time we’ll do
this on Wednesday when uh we have more
time I want to show some of the videos
of him of John drag racing it’s it’s
pretty awesome um Chris F good morning
Jeremy as well he says dropping a like
we’ll see you over at Broncos for
breakfast here in about uh 20 minutes
Chris F says is there any possibility we
trade Tyler Hani after the draft to get
rid of the overpriced contract I’m gonna
there’s always a possibility the uh
there’s always the Dumb and Dumber you
know there’s a chance but right now I’m
gonna say no this isn’t going to happen
why he restructured his uh his numbers
are now four million instead of nine and
so he’s on a four million cap hit
against like a 38 dead cap if you trade
him you’d get some relief but not nearly
that much you’d only get about two
million of relief if someone took on his
salary yes there is a possibility but no
he’s not the financial detriment that he
was last month he redid his contract
he’s your backup quarterback the Falcons
need a third and they may draft one on
day
three yeah it’s we’ll see what happens
there right we keep talking about things
can be crazy in the draft and I’m still
here banging the if adun or neighbors
are there at at eight you have to at
least have a serious long conversation
because those guys look pretty damn uh
special standout players but we’ll see
uh we’ll see we don’t know how it’s
exactly going to play
out the uh Rusty asks did Jael catch UFC
Saturday I haven’t I I haven’t I only
watched the highlights of those I
haven’t watched UFC the
pay-per-view I don’t know that I’ve ever
done a pay-per-view in my whole life you
know when we had the big boxing matches
in the 90s someone would get them and
we’d have a party uh but I haven’t I
don’t I haven’t done the pay-per-view
and I don’t know uh if they’re available
without pay-per-view anymore honestly
because they lost me with pay-per-view
so did MLS I don’t watch I don’t watch
Atlanta United anymore they price me out
too I’ve got other things to do with my
entertainment dollar so I was a season
ticket holder for five years now I
haven’t watched a game in two so you
gota just be careful with that stuff uh
franchise own owners um real quick here
uh Sterling asks and Harry has the same
comment about trading down he says do
you see the Falcons trading down my
instinct tells me no just because of
three straight years of Terry font no
sticking where he is and taking the best
Prospect available on his board where he
thought it was the best fit but it makes
a lot of sense this is a really really
good spot to trade down and I want to
get into this in just a minute we’re
going to say thank you to Mark Wilson
who comes in with a Super Chat look at
that orange just like a nice sunrise and
sunset kind of like right over here um
thank you for the support my friend it’s
a huge help for the show and everything
that Nick and I do uh really mean that
and he has a question that comes with it
he says if Edge comes off at eight is
cornerback next in round two or is it
wide
receiver o again it’s it always depends
on how the board Falls I would imagine
based on the talent level in this draft
class I would probably say wide receiver
next just because there’s going to be
some really good picks there uh but
cornerbacks still a viable option as
well I mean we kind of talked about him
earlier but uh Andrew Phillips from
Kentucky uh I guess he’s thought higher
than I thought even he was before based
on Mike galo’s tweet today saying he’s
could be a Darkhorse first round pick uh
but he stands out for me um there TJ
Tampa from Iowa state stands out DJ
James Auburn uh Enis Rick straw though I
wish he would have tested a little
little better um maybe even Kool-Aid
mckinstry uh falls to the midc round
Scott I think that’s a possibility there
so there are quarterbacks still but it
just doesn’t probability wise just the
number of viable options there’s way
more wide receivers that I like than
quarterback Mark here’s where I have the
problem and again thanks for the support
I promise you when the Falcons pick
there’s going to be three wide receivers
at least that I like better than any
cornerback that’s still on the board
cornerback is the bigger need so does
that scream trade down again you know or
wait until the third to try and get
corner and safety because again you’re
going to need a safety too I it would
really UPS I’m not gonna say upset but
if there was ever ever a draft to take a
wide receiver in the second round this
is the one this is the one where you
want to come out of the draft with a
wide receiver in the second round
there’s going to be a lot of good ones
and Nick we’ve picked out some pretty
good wide receivers the last couple of
years and they’ve done pretty well and
you know with wide receiver it might
make sense to get that fifth year option
but you know maybe not this is the draft
for the wide receiver in the second
maybe use your twoth thirds to get back
and and and and get back into the second
round and take two guys so uh we’ll see
on that
one uh JB real quick says uh 15 JB 1521
they they should have cut hiny before
the restructures it it it didn’t matter
he would have have a had a $2 million
dead cap if they cut cut him and then if
they resigned him he was his base his
base salary is 1.21 million so that’d be
a 3.2 million cap hit he’s plus whatever
you actually paid him in a signing bonus
because it’s a two-year deal is uh his
his cap hit is four5 it it didn’t really
matter uh I get it but they they took
care of it they cut his cap number in
half Nick yeah no he’s with that cap
number change it made sense for him to
stay here uh we’ll see what happens
though I mean he could still be out if
you guys you know draft a quarterback
early Who Is It Michael penx you guys
were doing a lot of work on uh so it
could play out where you know he’s still
not a falcon come the beginning of the
season but with the way they
restructured and whatnot I think it’s a
pretty safe bet and he’s you know he’s
kind of guy you expect for a backup
especially when you have a Kurt Cousins
uh type you don’t need a high-end uh
backup there or an ascending Talent
specifically I mean it might be nice to
get a day two quarterback in there if
you really like them uh but hinek is
fine for that rule for what he’s paid
now especially so real quick before we
get out of here U I wanted to hit on the
Kyper and Yates mock draft over on ESPN
plus they have the Falcons and Yates had
the evens and Kyper had the odds so at
eight uh field Gates picked Dallas
Turner Edge no big surprise there uh
it’s just round Peg round hole and as
Winston asks he says do you think the
Falcons will finally draft for need or
continue along with the best Prospect
available strategy the best draft is
when those are the same things and
you’ve got a chance here where the best
Prospect available fits your biggest
need at edge with Dallas Turner J Jared
ver your biggest need is your Edge
rusher now depends on how much if one
one one of those first eight drop
whether it’s Joe Al radus Malik
neighbors JJ
McCarthy trade get a couple of first
round picks if one of those quarterbacks
Falls I don’t think you’ll get the
chance someone else will trade up above
you yeah maybe you move down but I think
this is the draft Winston where you can
match those two but it depends on how
much you’ve got where you grade A Roma
dun and a Joe Walt because one of those
two guys is probably gonna fall to you
at
eight yeah you would think so I don’t
know if it was Adam shefer the other day
said like actually JJ McCarthy is more
likely coming off the board 6 to8 range
versus that one to four although I think
Vegas DraftKings now that’s greatly
influenced by betters at the end of the
day but uh I think they have McCarthy’s
line at 5.5 uh over under uh so we’ll
see what happens there with him but you
have options you’re going to have a
chance to trade back or take your number
one defensive player or take a kick butt
wide receiver uh I don’t know if you’ll
take the offensive tackle I think it’s
with the depth of offensive tackle
that’s a position that we haven’t talked
about we talked cornerback Scott we
talked U wide receiver round two but I
think defensive tackle and offensive
tackle are right there in the
conversation uh given this class as well
uh but we’ll see we got Jim Shepard
coming in saying I don’t know why so
many people are insisting on getting rid
of Hani he’s one of our better backup
options in the NFL and say why I have a
backup option that you know won’t take
you anywhere rather have a player that
could at least possibly be good in the
future the argument here is that
although one of my big you know banging
the drums is that Kurt Cousins hardly
ever injured historically so that’s a
positive for him compared to somebody
like Justin Fields uh but the argument
for somebody like a hinaki that doesn’t
really have the developmental upside is
that let’s say you have a point in the
season where Kurt Cousins has a injured
finger and he has to miss three to four
games can you win two of those four
games with a good enough quarterback who
can run the offense and keep you afloat
uh versus just automatically dropping
those four right it’s not like you don’t
want to put Brett ripping out there
sorry to throw Brett under the bus
that’s just my generic you know third
string guy that probably should never
the field um Talent level but you know
out there it’s like okay well we have
the next four weeks are automatic losses
you want to have somebody in there that
can at least keep you afloat for a bit
in the playoff race divisional race uh
conversation which I believe heiki can
uh with a good enough infastructure
around him that’s the argument and and I
think the Falcons go with a rookie with
their third quarterback I think I think
because they’re GNA get a third they
said we need a third they do need a
third and you end up taking a day three
guy Joe Milton fits the bill here but I
think you know Jordan Travis fits the
bill I think I think they try and get a
quarterback with a day three pick as
their third guy where you do have a
developmental guy on the on the on the
uh roster and JB follows up he says
Spencer Rattler or Jordan Travis
battling for the backup quarterback is
my dream I just think it’s GNA be tough
to get
Spencer without using at best one of
your thirds at best I think he goes in
the second so uh and getting back to the
monck draft uh he actually goes 76 to
the Denver Broncos Spencer Rattler goes
76 to the Denver Broncos right after
between the Falcons two picks at 74 and
79 the uh the Falcon second pick in this
draft Kyper had it because it was at
43rd he takes wide receiver Malachi
Corley Western Kentucky makes a lot of
sense in that spot 510 220 pound SL guy
who is a matchup nightmare in the open
field Nick yeah yeah very very good uh
player fun to get a hold of uh where do
you think he’s gonna end up going uh
what range I think it’s about right I
think 45 to 60 for Malachi Corley I
think that’s about right for him and I
think he’s got a chance to be uh who is
the Texans quick quick guy that we loved
at the Senior Bowl had a huge first year
tank Dell tank Dell I think he’s got
he’s got a chance to have a tank Dell
impact depending on where he is if he
ends up being he wouldn’t be a first or
second maybe even a third option in
Atlanta yeah I think if he ends up being
a second option somewhere I think I
think Malachi Corley could have a tank
Dell type of season I really do I am
curious about his fit with Atlanta for
where I see them right now because he
feels a little on the surface he feels
gadgety and part of that’s the Western
Kentucky offense uh considering his
depth of Target I mean he was
essentially a we’re going to hit you
with a screen and try to get you space
and then go which you know Classic Air
Raid uh stuff there but a lot of those
kind of area of the fields where he’s
Target would be targeted in my opinion
some of that could be eaten up by ban
Robinson some of that could be eaten up
by Mooney as well I almost just feel
like you the Falcons like need somebody
who’s can be a consistent double hitter
right somebody who can constantly be a
double because you have Drake London
making the catches down the field uh you
have Kyle pittz you know big home run
guy down the field who’s your middle the
field winner that’s just you know Mr
reliable you know even leaning into it
more with the uh the Rams who’s the
pukaa Cooper cup well Kyle pitch should
be that guy coming out of the slot as a
tight end but he’s so vertical based you
know he shouldn’t be though and and I
don’t think he is if he’s used correctly
with that wingspan of his I think he
should definitely be an over the-middle
guy a guy that you can count between the
numbers you know not all the way outside
uh here’s the thing that interesting to
me I want you to comment on this nick uh
Kyper says the Falcons need to use one
of their day two picks uh one of their
three day two picks on a white out
preferably with one to play flexibility
in the slot there you go now what’s
interesting to me is at
45 the Saints take wide receiver Ricky
peol I’m taking peol over Corley I
that’s that’s my preference so I would
have gone peol in that spot I would have
as well uh just again you talk about the
inside outside versatility as a z uh he
makes a lot of sense in that role we’ve
talked about lad makoni a heck of a lot
as well he probably went off the board
pick 35 to 40 or something uh in that
range but somebody who can be a middle
of the field guy you know you’re you’re
third down man coverage who’s it going
to who who’s the man beater in your pass
coverage it’s one reason that I was like
if you can get Judy for cheap he’d make
a lot of sense here even though he’s a
little bit soft sometimes but man man
coverage beater for sure uh Oblivion
Empire comes in for 99 always good to
see Oblivion Oblivion shout out to
Oblivion because they come in on the
Broncos stuff too and drop super chats
so you Brock and the Falcon tattoo but
still coming in and supporting us Scott
which means a heck of a lot so shout out
to you Oblivion says hello guys let’s
have a great show like always good to
see you Oblivion hope you’re doing well
yeah we’re just about to wrap it up so
thank you for coming in says Hey guys
let’s have a great show well we’ve just
about finished so you’ll have to grade
Us in hindsight leave a comment go back
and watch uh we appreciate it and again
I always hit the comments afterwards uh
I don’t comment on every comment but if
there’s a question in there or you know
if as long like I’ve said as long as
you’re respectful I’m not going to tell
you I’m right I will respect your
opinion if you respect mine I’m not
gonna say I’m right on this stuff um and
if I miss facts let me know I that
happens all the time when you’re going
live uh hopefully I don’t butcher it too
bad and then finally here real quick
from string guy says I’m late getting in
this morning so if this was already
covered I apologize but is there any new
information on the tampering accusations
just speculation that it could be
settled with a pick swap between the
Vikings and uh and Falcons 8 and 11
that’s coming from Florio again who has
been the one that has been championing
championing
championing Minnesota Vikings cause and
if I I wouldn’t take a uh if I’m the
Falcons and I don’t think I’ve done
anything wrong I’m not taking a plea
deal I’m I’m just not so pound sand
we’re not taking that punish us if you
must because we didn’t do anything wrong
so that my thoughts on that Nick uh
we’re going to get out of here and we’re
going to head over to if you want to
talk some more some more quarterbacks if
you want to talk some more draft uh
actually let me finish this because I
missed out real quick because it was
three rounds the final three picks were
cam Hart a cornerback at 74 makes a lot
of sense big Corner out of Notre Dame
and then at 79 ruk AR roaro defensive
tackle Clemson was Kyper pick so they
actually alternated picks because the
Falcons picks alternate even odd even
odd even
and uh odd so ended up going that
direction so I I like all those picks
the one I like Malachi Corley a lot I
would have taken Pierce all in that spot
so but other than that want to say thank
you to oblivian Empire who just came in
with the buzzer beater Mike Harvey
kicked us off this morning Robbie red
yes we are going to be streaming draft
night next Thursday bonus coverage Cory
Carter was in as well Edward I hope your
dentist office went well coach coming in
finally Mark Wilson with the big one the
orange $20 Super Chat thank you my
friend this is our new time 8:30 Monday
Wednesday and Fridays right now we are
going to head over to my high huddle to
talk more NFL Draft come join us if you
hadn’t had enough of me and Nick
otherwise we will see you on Wednesday
peace

  1. Good morning Scott and Nick. What is the deal with Mike Florio. He is at it again about the tampering. Telling everyone that the NFL should take the Falcons 8th pick and give it to the Vikings. Do u see that happening ????

  2. Scott, do you think the Falcons might stick at 8 and then trade back in the 2nd to get an extra 3rd? Then package 2 3rds to move back into the second. I've done this a few times in my mocks and ended up with pretty good picks/players.

  3. Is Tyler Allgeier a candidate to be traded next week? My thought is the Cowboys may be interested in a trade like that. Allgeier and Dalman for their pick 24?

  4. Richie gives up a lot of tds I agree with y’all on him playing at a 5th round level.. like Kameron kitchens in the draft

  5. Florio is a big Vikings fan so this 🐂💩 is wishful thinking on his part. I think it's called manifesting, so he keeps talking about it trying to manifest a better draft pick for his team. The Vikings had plenty of time to re-sign cousins. Everyone in the building up in Egan, Minnesota wanted Kirk back except for 1 guy, Kwesi Adolfo-Menthol. I think he wants Penix. So penalize the Falcons for tampering with a player the GM never intended to re-sign? When Kwesi got hired he said he didn't think they had a QB that could win them a Superbowl. I've been a big Kirk fan since Michigan State. I always knew he'd have success in the NFL because of the way he utilized his weapons and managed the game. When he was drafted in the 4th round by Washington I knew he would end up being the starter. I did not like RG3. I thought he was overrated and would not become an NFL pocket QB. He came from a gimmick offense at Baylor. It's unfortunate his career was cut short but he was never able to make that transition into a pocket QB.

  6. Hey, I’m a new subscriber. Look forward to these falcons news questions etc. I do have a question about tampering it’s a little worrisome, but with the draft literally 10 days away… I haven’t heard of a single thing about tampering on the falcons. What is the worst possibility of an outcome for Atlanta? Did Atlanta really tamper with Kirk before the signing?

  7. The problem with ypu guys is you only focus on big schools , theres a lot of talent at lesser known schools as well. Why not look at some of those guys you might change your minds.
