so it’s just driven in the new tailor
made tour truck as arrived here at AF
golf store Cambridge we’re going to head
inside and see our friend Lee who’s
going to give us a quick

tour and here we are inside the
Fantastic tailor made TR truck and here
we have Lee from tailor made Lee good to
see you very good
so tailor made tour truck yes looks very
impressive from the outside what have we
got inside so in here you can see it is
a workshop um so it’s a traveling
Workshop this this does the European
tour okay um so it’s actually not been
out on tour yet obviously we’re here in
the middle of April um first event is
Belgium um so it it but it has been used
obviously we’re using it today to kind
of showcase what we do on here we’re
going to take some of your customers for
tours on here after they’ve had some
fittings um but we we’ll give you a
little tour show you around what we’ve
going on you can see all the amazing
Machinery that we’ve got on here um from
the Mitchell Loft and Li gauges for
Putters irons and wedges um we’ve got a
a wood Loft and Li machine as well so we
can check face so is there a is there a
set format of the way this machine’s
laid out for any particular reason
obviously we’ve got a measuring tool
over here so how does this work walk us
through each one of these machines so
generally what’s going to happen is
obviously we’ve got they’ll they’ll as
they as they’re building they’ll pick
their heads out so let’s let’s say for
example we were building a driver now
these drawers are empty cuz it’s not
been on tour yet um but this would be
full of um full of woods if we picked
out a wood from here um and then we pick
a shaft out from up here uh so we this
is quite cool just come have a look up
here cuz so obviously you’ve got some
cool names on here luckily enough tailor
made have got some really cool names up
there um this one’s an interesting one
look at that V
Ro his driver shaft but this one’s more
important look at this name here let’s
pull that out wow look at that 6X ventor
so there’s some really cool names go
sorry you were saying some cool names so
we’re going to we’re going to pick
shafts we’re going to pick our pick our
Loft sleeves now this is where it’s
slightly different we have different
types of Loft sleeves depending on what
the players might have played for years
what they’re suited to some could offer
different L angle as well so we’ll then
choose that and we’ll start to do a dry
build using these um these here is dry
build first yes what do you mean by dry
build cuz some of our viewers might not
understand so obviously we’ll then pop
it in and check everything before we
glue it swing way etc etc and make sure
and obviously you’ll then always add um
you’ll take into account how much glue
we’ll be weighing to make sure that
makes swing weight as accurate as
possible so we’ve cut it cutting
machines um obviously we’re going to
trim down shafts and make sure that that
head’s going to stick on and so on um
make sure that the headl that we’re
playing is correct so generally in these
draws these players will be cherry
picking from um what Loft they might
like to start at okay um they have the
luxury of a n deg driver might not be
perfectly ° to start with yes because
they might have a preferred place to be
right um so these guys have got that
luxury of having that cherry picking of
that exact Loft but I mean that makes a
big difference for them they’re hitting
bang in the middle of the club every
time yeah so it’s a big big difference
for them okay so they’ll start building
from there we’ll then come around you
can see we’ve got different um different
boxes and drawers over here both sides
um they’re all going to have different
weights in them yeah so these guys will
obviously have a preferred swing weight
um and how they have their driver built
so they’ll pick the correct weighting
out of there then start to start to
build from that and interestingly enough
in here I don’t know if am I allowed to
do this Le this and yeah what look
like Po faces y so when the guys are
getting their Potters built they’ll
obviously have we have um in there some
slightly different feeling faces wow so
again when it comes to a poter there’ll
be there’ll be that that just have a
look at this uh Chris go on Le sorry you
saying they’ll be there’ll be that picky
on the on what they want exactly I say
picky picky makes it sound like they
yeah yeah they’re being difficult
they’re being difficult they’re not
being difficult they’re just that good
it makes a difference so they will
select which face insert they want on
their PL wow okay so they’ll they’ll
pick that when they’re building that um
and as they then build that heads all
glued it comes down to what grip they
might play so this is where we do have
some stock on here so you’ll see in here
the players grip so let’s say we were
building a driver for Tiger um so some
really we’ve seen these ones a few times
Sergio’s grips yeah so you’ve got the
players obviously playing different
grips in there some like a softer grip
some some like a a harder like real
stiff feeling grip like tiger with a
full cord there they’re like mine but
after our fishing down at Branson
definitely don’t hit it the same
do um and then you got ones like what
Lucas Herbert uses um which is these
kangaroo leather grips Stitch down the
back really let mean feel that how tacky
that is yeah wow so there’s some there’s
some pretty cool grips obviously this is
interesting as well that you’ve even got
a DJ poter grip y so it’ll just be the
exact poter grip that he uses we’ll
always make sure that there’s something
in there for them like this this truck
will go to the open so you’ll have all
of those top players going to the open
so we’ll have all of them in there what
you’ll notice is as well that these are
more the European tour players and
there’s more some PGA Tour players yes
there’s a lot more core jued than
European tour the reason there’s more
core jued than European tour is it’s
it’s better for all weather condition
okay so if it’s going to get wet Mo
moisture wicking and so on that’s going
to be a lot better with the rain a lot
more in whereas where you at PGA Tour
players you’ll get like Dustin Johnson
Scotty Sheffer they using grips that
aren’t called Champion Master’s
Champions grips he’s going to have all
the fancy you want in the world but he’s
playing with t velvet he’s playing a
tall velvet a standard tall velvet
interestingly he has um 11 layers of
tape under his grips God he wouldn’t be
my friend so so the guys asked him why
do you why do you not just use midsize
yes and and use a midsize to make it
that so he prefers the he feels as
though it actually gives him a softer
feeling having 11 layers tape than
having all that rubber under the grip
and a midsize grip cuz it’s just pack
I’m really upsetting whatever Workshop
technician is in here regrip his clubs
on a weekly basis regripping when you
when you get somebody asked for three
layers it’s always like oh God three
layers but when you got to do 11 they’ve
got to be perfect as well noes no
nothing wow okay so this was this one’s
quite an interesting machine cuz this
you don’t see that often this is your
wood Loft lie wood Loft and lie does
drivers and Fairway Woods drivers and
Fairway Woods y so we’ll check Loft lie
even checks face angle as well okay so
it can tell you how open or closed a
face is wow so there’s a lot of detail
that goes into these guys and and
they’re quite picky obviously the’re
best players in the world that are
normally coming on this truck they’re
quite picky as to your term they’re
quite precise should we say precise in
what they want they want to feel and so
and so forth so one one of the other
tools that you won’t see as well
obviously we can we can measure Loft and
lie on a wood but you think well okay if
that’s not not right what do you do with
it we’ve got a machine here and we’ll
use that with some of the blocks in um
in here we’ve got we’ve got the molds in
here for for say a different Fairway
Wood um so some of these will be for
slightly older models cuz obviously
hasn’t been out on tour yet but that
will go in there we could then fit a
fairway wood or a hybrid into there we
can clamp that shut puts all that
pressure on it we can bend a loft and
lie on a fairway wood wow so that’s
something that is obviously these tour
guys do have um access access to that
that we don’t get day in day out uh part
of the reason obviously because they’re
quite fragile wood heads yes and even
like the best builders in the world will
will break them over the time so um it’s
why we obviously can’t offer that but
you know these guys can be as precise as
they want if they want a 14 and 1 half
degree 3-wood they can have it we they
can have it cuz we can bend it for them
there so Tour player comes on he’s
having his club’s built he’s having a
new set of irons for the open let’s say
what’s he doing when he comes in here
because there’s lots of stuff around
this corner where you’ve got do they sit
and wait do they they chilling out so
sometimes they’ll just come on here
obviously generally like you you’re only
coming on here if you’re invited on here
you’re going to get different people
you’re only going to come on here if
you’re either a player or part of their
team so whether that be their caddy
their manager their coach uh they’re the
only people that are going to be invited
on to especially a busy week yeah
so because we’ve got building going on
generally what happens a lot of the time
is it be one or the others not the
player will come on if they’ve just had
their irons fitted on the Range they
have full trust in whether it’s Sam
whether it’s Alex on or mark on our
European tour that they’re going to get
their club spot on for them so a lot of
the time they’ll they’ll stay on the
Range still hitting balls and their
clubs will get built and taken out to
them sometimes they’ll come on they’ll
come on every tournament they’ll always
get um they’ll get hats gloves this is
the coolit come over so every week
they’ll get they’ll get hats gloves and
balls they usually get four dozen and
everyone’s slightly different in terms
of Y are these balls marked for them
already I’ve got here Allison in here
let me just grab some of his golf balls
so these are all his brand golf balls
yeah
tp5x so one of the things that you’ll
get as well is that the the players will
get to pick so like a Col or a cow for
example because he’s won a tournament
with our golf ball yeah he’s allowed to
then pick what ball he plays what number
on the ball so he plays only once you’ve
won with the can whatever number you you
can pick your number if you’re rubbish
in the middle of the pack for the you
have to play 1 2 3 4 One or 1 2 3 5
because we’re tp5 we don’t do number
four like it so that’s where those guys
will get it you’ll also get what gloves
what size gloves Rory using Rory
actually used is a Cadet small which is
our smallest glove short fingers
yeah wow so we’ve always got
some the main man’s head cover how
Cool’s
that so cool so some of the guys will
have a little logo on their ball as well
so um you you’d have say a Scotland flag
these are some of um Bob Max balls that
he would have used so it would have a
Scotland flag on there 96 which I’m
pretty sure 96 was the year he was born
wow um I could be wrong on that um but
this has to get stocked up ready for
those players even if the you know is
they’re ready when they come ready for
when they come on yeah and caddies get a
little c c c need a hat yeah CES will be
wearing our hat as well through the back
here then what’s through the back here
through the back we got our meeting room
it’s got a few bits and pieces in there
obviously we’re just about to do an
event so we’ve got some goodie bags up
in here bags lovely but um through here
this is somewhere where the players can
come and it if they need to take a
private phone call the door behind you
there can shut okay completely
soundproof they can sit in here they
need to take a private phone call oh wow
so it’s really set up for players to
really get the perfect setup for their
tournament whether be Club you would
seen we got TV in here TV down the end
there brilant a lot of the time with
they’re at an event they’ll have the
coverage from Sky Sports on um so the
guys in here might be might be building
clubs and they’ll be watching the
buildup to the tournament or highlights
from the tournament from the previous
