hi there Adam Basel jet here founder of
scratch Golf Academy how to stop
chunking those wed shots from up close
to the green all the way out to about 70
yards pretty important subject and we’ll
review the performance golf one wedge
brand new hitting the market has some
pretty cool features in it I think
you’ll find interesting my favorite
feature they don’t list as a feature
actually we’ll talk about that and if so
in other words if these things really do
help people’s games why don’t the pros
usually use them we’ll touch on that as
well and then at the end my two biggest
keys for being a good wedge player
technique things and three simple drills
to gain skill you have to gain skill
just tips aren’t going to cure
everything so let’s look at this wedge
and then let’s look at technique a bit
hopefully can help you well there’s the
Sleek looking performance one golf wedge
let’s look at a few of the key features
none of which by the way are my favorite
features about this club how they can
help you as an amate golfer a typical
golfer then we’ll get to the tips on how
to get some good pitching technique
several things you’ll notice it has a
very broad or deep Sole and it’s
slightly rounded in all directions so
doesn’t snack doesn’t taper off a lot
here so it really gets through without
bouncing and what I like most about this
sole it’s not only deep this way but it
doesn’t have excessive bounce this way
the Leading Edge doesn’t sit way up off
the ground I can’t stand that look in a
sandwich so very usable really resists
fat shots well as you look down from the
player standpoint you’ll notice has a
very straight sort of Leading Edge
doesn’t have nearly the curvature at the
center of face that most wedges have I
think that’s easier to look at easier to
aim and would help with Direction on
offc Center hits a little bit there’s a
link below this video for the Nei one
wedge at least you can look and and
investigate it my favorite feature of
this club before we move on to the final
two features my favorite feature is
actually that it just looks good looks
like a good player sandwich hey great to
have all these game improvement helping
features but I don’t like a sandwich it
looks bulky and awkward and amateurish
looking this looks like a good solid
wedge okay final two features a deep
cavity here it’s very a cavity back face
there really stabilizes for the golfer
on offc Center hits It’s not cumbersome
under there also if you look from the
front view the grooves are all the way
across the club in other words toe heel
hits you’ll still get the spin and the
use of the grooves and they’re deeper
than any other grooves on any sandwiches
believe me if you get the dirt in the
grass funneled away from the ball on
those sorts of lies or even if your Club
just isn’t that clean these deep grooves
will help and they’re legal for play
they they conform to the rules
[Music]
well that was about 75 yards let’s just
quick try one more we’ll talk about the
biggest two keys if you’re going to be a
good pitcher of the ball a little
rehearsal
there I hit that slightly heavy still
actually came off pretty well okay two
biggest Keys solid contact reasonably
solid contact at least if you’re M
hitting a lot of balls you’re never
going to be any good especially if
you’re chunking them and not just that
number two trajectory control if your
trajectory is very inconsistent even if
your contact is good your distance
control is going to be very suspect and
very inconsistent as well we’re looking
for a lower ball flight preferably
relatively with some spin on it let me
show you myself in slow motion inside
the Learning Center here at metat Tera
give you a couple of keys and we’ll work
on it so what I see people do wrong in
their wedge play is they hit down to
much let me just explain that instead of
coming in on a nice shallow plane like
that they start chopping down this way
too much creating too much angle towards
the turf and as you look from the front
view the arms and Club are descending
too drastic and what happens they have
to bail out they have to add L stand up
or lift their arms or some such so the
combination you’re looking for is a nice
shallow angle on that back forearm
shallow just means brushing very level
to the ground coming in let me show you
one other way to look at it if you look
at my hands or if you like the tip end
of the golf club it’s level to slightly
Rising as I hit it so there’s almost no
downward hit in fact there is no
downward hit in that angle what do we
want well we want to lean the golf club
a lot that supplies all the downward hit
you
need and when you get nice and shallow
with your approach and you’re not
chopping down you can really commit to
tilting your lead wrist forward leaning
the golf club this helps you make ball
first Contact and spin the shot and I
would say it’s hard to over over do that
and as you’ll see me in just a minute
it’s hard to be too shallow or too level
as long as your weight gets to your left
side the only way you could get too
shallow would be to hang back on your
back foot so weight forward handle
forward but a very level Shar tilted
forward impact is the
key so most golfers they’re coming in
too steeply and what happens they bail
at the last minute they add LOF too much
not helpful by the way this sole is very
helpful if you are a little bit steep of
not digging or getting stuck you can
really hit down pretty hard and it skids
off the ground a bit now before we look
at our three drills which momentarily we
will why when you get these let’s call
them game improvement clubs why aren’t
the pros generally using this well a lot
of times they’re not paid to use it that
would probably be number one but
seriously the bigger reason they don’t
need those game improvement features
they’re not hitting fat shots and off
center hits and things like that so when
you make a club more stable this is
definitely more stable cavity back you
do all these sort of things to it you
give it a big bounce it’s also a little
bit harder to manipulate now these great
players they’re going to hit it solidly
every time they may want to Nuance their
trajectory or shave it out of a
different lie or shape it a bit
differently a little bit harder to do
with game improvement clubs because
they’re more stable so let’s look at R
three that’s why they don’t use them
let’s look at our three drills so skill
is the key first thing I wanted you to
do hold the club up in front of you
practice til tilting Loft off it like
that practice making the Leading Edge of
the club tilt down and you need to do
that with a certain amount of speed as
you hit it start to feel that in here
even if I chunk it a bit I really tilted
that down and even if I hit a little bit
of a low pull in this first stage that’s
what we’re trying to do knock Loft off
it okay in this next stage that was
actually a regular shot now we talked
about leading tilting into the ground
ball going low left we don’t want to
ultimately play like that of course so
what I’m going to do is I’m going to
preset the Leading Edge closed preset my
wrist in that angle and I’m going to hit
some little firm wristed shots where I
tries to try to use my swing to get the
ball to go straight and to get a little
less dig and push it online that’s
overdone a little bit I’m telling you if
you just go out of the range I’ve T goal
for 35 years played it for 50 nearly and
you just whack balls trying to hit the
best shots you can hit you will leave
with pretty much the same swing you
showed up with you have to develop skill
this is easy stuff come on here we go so
I’m going to tilt that down if I don’t
do anything unusual it’s going to go low
left and I’m going to feel that shallow
hit that’s it could brush it off there
now I’ve got both the characteristics we
want the tilt of the face and the
shallow brushing hit I’ve got both of
them overdone a little bit now on our
third drill let’s try to blend them
together okay number three drill is
blending it now one more word about the
one wedge from performance golf we have
a link down there if you want to check
it out or get one I suggest you do I
mean sure we’re going to make a couple
of dollars on on this if you buy these
things we’re not lying to you about that
but this thing really will help most
golfers who doesn’t need a little bit of
help with chunk shots with stabilization
with spinning the ball and things like
that you still have to put a golf swing
on it which is why we’re working on that
but it will definitely help you now
blending our two things together our two
previous drills together we’re going to
make it a rule may not be an absolute
rule that it’s hard to overdo the tilt
of the hand so even if you catch it a
little heavy or hit it low left we’re
not going to take that out again general
rule what we’re going to try to add in
is more of this shallowness which you
just saw me demonstrate previously and
if you catch one a little skinny or
balloon it high right you’re not getting
enough of this we’re not going to take
the shallowness out so mix and match
here’s a little bit
little bit too much low left I’m telling
you I hit down on that plenty and it
didn’t dig this so is very very helpful
for that and conversely so what I would
do after that is I would add a bit too
much of this try to overdo that a bit
then come back with a bit of that and
keep mixing and matching it work your
way back to where you have a good feel
for neutral hope this helps you good
swing is always going to help this is
certainly going to make your life easier
on slight Mish hits and different
situations leave a comment or whatnot
below hope this helps you

I have a One Wedge 56 degree. It has been helpful in chipping, but initially it is a big help in the bunkers. Wow!! I can swing easier and the ball just comes out, with spin that is straight on my line of direction and closer to the hole. I just ordered the lob wedge too. The spin on the club is significant.
Good demo and explanation of reasons why pros don’t go for this kind of sales promo.
Callaway pm grind wedge is the goat.
