well Kevin kizner has been enjoying good
success for a lot of years in the golf
course there he was a part of the
Bulldogs National Championship team back
in 2005 that led to four PGA Tour wins
including a world golf championship at
the match play and then also a part of
two winning president Cup teams and no
one knows how to celebrate more than kiz
and we welcome him to our NBC broadcast
team you might have seen him yesterday
for a 90-minute cameo but kid you’re now
locked in loaded for the rest of the way
here on Saturday and Sunday how has it
gone so far for you this uh this new
hobby of yours and that is definitely
what it is is a hobby for sure uh now
you guys make it so easy just hanging
out and uh talking about my buddies
playing golf so gets me excited about
getting ready to go play next week what
are you most looking forward to today it
has gotten a little tougher the winds
are up a little bit after an historic
low round yesterday right I think with
the benign weather conditions we had the
first two days and and the imet
condition the golf courses in they’ve
essentially turned into a par 69 with 15
par fours and three par 3s and that’s
pretty good math for a southern boy for
all you listening at home so we saw the
lowest scoring average every every
yesterday but the wind’s up and we’re
seeing more over par early here in the
round and and uh looking forward to
hopefully getting some flag sticks
blowing sideways and and a little more
Carnage well I know you’re looking
forward to playing next week but you’re
going to be with us here in in the booth
so looking forward to all of your expert
analysis Kurt you picked a good guy to
learn from here bym he’s right next to
you I’m really enjoying having Kevin
here with us this week and I predict
you’re actually going to play some
really good golf cuz you you’re kind of
wondering about this TV thing and that
golf thing it probably sounded pretty
good about right now hitting some range
balls is a lot easier and being nervous
about this I can promise you that all
right let’s get this thing going back
out to the golf course here at capalo
where the the weather has just been
absolutely near perfect every day
although the winds are up today
temperatures in the mid 80s just
absolute perfect conditions for the most
part as we check in again at the first
with English this for par
now not a very good bunker shot down wi
I don’t know how it must have caught it
clean or something rolled out a 25 30 ft
so sad sad way to end a good run on the
back nine yeah that momentum comes to an
end for English and again here is
Sheffer over at the sixth yeah back up
at the top of the mountain you can see
what he is looking at which is not much
out there visually very tough to get a
line here hard right to left wind want
to sneak something past that bunker have
any chance to keep a ball in the Fairway
this is up the left side turning over
good looking t-shot and Curt isn’t isn’t
it amazing how quickly Kisner gets off
the course and hopes for Carnage
yeah yeah he fell into the TV roll
pretty quickly this could be really good
though everything usually ends up in
that right rough eventually this will
too no way to keep it up but that’s far
enough down it’s actually a little
flatter down there so the further you
can hit it there the
better
there you can see the green this green
was rebuilt about four years ago of a
big section added to the back corner but
it is still one of the tougher greens to
sort of figure out Victor havin has this
now for a
birdie he’s been on the island a number
of days worked very hard I watched him
over the weekend when the course was
actually closed he was out here working
really hard and it’s paid off hadn’t had
a lot of luck in his first three tries
at the
Sentry let the field and putting on
Thursday and and like I said I like
leading the field and putting on Sunday
uh you kind of always revert back to
your to your average there throughout
the week talk about a scenic view this
is oet on the tea at the 184 yd Par 38
it’s always a little difficult to get
the right Club here this an elevated te
we’ve got the wind blowing from the
right got a little sideboard right of it
too you can use there you go and just
like that now it needs to settle down
going to go too
far with that trouble short of the green
you’ll see a lot of guys try to use the
back part of that green and the slope to
keep the ball
there course average so far today 70.5
that’s nearly 2 and a half shots higher
than the opening two rounds so
Plantation course has toughened up
indeed a little

  1. Loved to hear his insight into the game and the banter with the guys. He for sure has a future in the booth!

  3. both his Round 2 debut and today's work in the booth were pretty candid, from the hip, unadulterated (not fluffed up) commentary. its refreshing and different. because golf is not just sunshine and daisy's all the time.
