how about Smiley literally going from
sun up to sun down did they really have
to show his his mile time I mean yeah
they they just brutalized the poor man
they could have just funed it a
little better than a 10-minute mile he
was trying to take in the views navigate
the crowd he didn’t want to hurt anybody
he didn’t want to show him up either he
already had a seat he wouldn’t run it
for a seat no crowds right now at CPC
Scottdale Jordan Speed he was certainly
uh electrifying the crowds late in the
day on Saturday and afterwards met with
the
media all right Jordan thanks for
stopping by just get some comments on
your play up to this point so I had um
some sloppy bogeys on 8 and N um earlier
today and so this time around you know I
I stood on the at and thought let’s just
hit four good shots and and try and get
a steal a birdie by the turn I was
trying to slow play on nine and not hit
the putt we knew you know they were
going to blow the horn any second and
then you know it was time to go so I hit
it and hoped and it was I was just
trying to get it somewhere in a honestly
a three foot circle that was was pretty
dark on the green but um um certainly
fortunate there I feel like you know
I’ve had a few long ones go in a couple
chip-ins this week and um I really would
like to tight it up a little bit more
not rely on those and just your mindset
going into tomorrow same kind of deal
yeah I mean it’ll be was it 25 holes
today and 27 tomorrow so um similar type
day I’ll try and go off of how I was
feeling most of this round and um um you
know where I kind of made mistakes in
some t- balls you know in in this round
in particular when I’ve been driving it
so well and trying to make sure I’m
energized pushing off my right side a
little better apologies if you’ve been
asked us already I just can’t got here
but but um how are the crowds out there
today did you see anything insane uh it
was it was it was Saturday at the
Phoenix Open so um I think uh I had
heard be well when I I went home and
when I came back I couldn’t come the
same direction the police officers had
blocked it off so I drived up I said
drove up I said um you know how how am I
supposed to get back to the course he
said yeah we’re we’re over capacity it’s
hazardous so you got to we got to go
through a different once he said that I
thought maybe we were in a little bit of
trouble this afternoon but we were on
the front N9 so it was a little less
Rowdy and I heard they stopped alcohol
sales so and honestly they were they
were awesome I mean it was really cool
actually to to see that many people on
the front nine you typically just see it
you know the back nine here and then
occasionally on nine and and a couple
other spots but um they were they were
fantastic um you know Saturday’s
normally the big day but I think with 27
holes tomorrow we might see you know
some more people come out than than
we’re usual than usual on Sunday anyways
thank you thank
you how about that bounce back after
bogeying both eight n earlier birdies
both and it seemed like anytime he hit
the skits he started doing Jordan Speed
things and putting on a show like we’ve
seen with sahith as well you know we’re
so lucky in the game uh with Jordan spe
and so of these players out here are
exciting but in particular I think
sahith has come along and he reminds me
a lot of Jordan spe you know these two
guys can just show off you know to some
extent they kind of remind me of a great
Three-Point Contest you know if we could
go back and bring Larry Bird present to
Steph Curry and get them going and
raining threes you know they get to do
it face to face these guys are all over
the golf course but over the course of
what two and a half days now these guys
have just put on a show trading haym
maker after Haymaker whether it’s
chipping in or H holding out bunker
shots long putts this was sahit uh
opening day round one second hole on
that UPS slope and just this one’s
coming in there sizzling and just his
releases beautifully right nice little
pitch in there for siah it look like he
might make a bogey no no chance it
looked like Jordan Speed might make
bogey at 18 shortsighted you don’t want
to be shortsighted unless you got these
hands I mean these are just magical
hands we saw a lot of wizards out there
but none of them can top that man when
it comes to long putts I mean these guys
are making it from everywhere this is
three-point range by the way I do
believe what’s three-point range do you
know the footage it’s got to be long I
don’t know it but it’s got to be outside
38 ft9 in it is 22t N9 in thank you very
much I didn’t mean to put you on the
spot right there but but then you know
there’s Jordan Speed now what look what
what’s cool about this shot is that you
know he hits his second shot I was I was
I was looking for the butt but I but
what’s cool is that’s a birdie right he
hit it there you wouldn’t think he would
ever make a birdie but he made a birdie
he’s all upset with that but he made the
54f footer there for birdie and then sah
pen high at the fourth this is from
about 30 feet away these guys just trade
him going back and forth on the fourth
hole nothing to it all right let’s go
back back to spe let’s go back to spe
and see what spe’s up to because he
didn’t hit a particularly good shot into
this par three pretty upset you know
some 53 feet away you’d think all right
you know most players would be very
happy to tput this you know get it down
there about four or five ft WIP knuckle
it in way again these guys you know they
just are trading these hay makers they
are these are go get that these are
these are halfcourt shots from time to
time spe and sah will stray from the
Fairway and it looks like they might be
in a spot of trouble no not for These
Guys these are magicians they’re not
pulling rabbits out of the Hat they’re
pulling rhinos out of the Hat crying out
loud and then Jordan speeds at 17 all
the way across the green a lot of things
you can do with this but nobody can do
it better than this
man this is just this isn’t like a year
this is just two and a half rounds that
we’ve seen this from this is this is we
could just go on and on with Jordan
Speed but just just for good measure
closing out his front nine in the third
round at Birdie the eth and Birdie the
nth and we’re going to have more of this
tomorrow it’s just so much fun watching
these guys thank you for the uh
three-point conversion as we there they
are this is Jordan spe and sahit theala
in in the Beards I feel
like I I feel like I’m on an infomercial
right now cuz that was great but there’s
more because the reality is as good as
all of that was with Jordan’s speed that
didn’t even capture the entire highlight
reel I’m going to throw a few more else
at you because Jordan be didn’t just
stop with great putts and Chip shots you
go back to the 15th hole in the second
round the 74 yards and and to me it’s
about we talk about his hands but it’s
also about soft elbows when you get a
wedge shot to have the soft elbows so
you can get the compression you got the
spin control that’s incredibly important
and moves on to the 18th hole another
one of those just delicate shots around
the green look at this touch you got
spin from 15
ft I mean it is a thing of beauty and
and a lot of these highlights that you
showed that I showed is short sided this
is my favorite one I think of the day
well how did it not make your highlight
real well cuz I was saving it for you
team effort but you notice a lot of
these little pit shots around the green
are shortsighted what this means to me
is he’s got so much confidence in the
short game that you can be aggressive
with your long game you can take on pins
if you miss it short sided it’s okay cuz
you’re Jordan beast and you’ll make it
up with the wedge in hand and I think
that’s why it’s so exciting because he
can be more aggressive with the long
game because he’s got the confidence to
clean up whatever mistakes he may make
the short game that’s just two and a
half rounds right that was not that’s
how that was we’re not even done okay
that’s what I
thought this short game been electric if
he can get the iron play even halfway
there for the final round and a half
then who knows it could be George spe
finally winning the WM Phoenix
Open
