Wesley Bryan finishes solo second at Corales Puntacana | 2024

The PGA TOUR heads to the Dominican Republic for the Corales Puntacana Championship in a dual-event week for the TOUR. Nicolai Højgaard will be in the field after his T16 finish in his Masters debut. He’s claimed three top-20s and a runner-up finish so far this season. The Dane will look to go one better than the second place finish he claimed last year, ending up one shot behind winner Matt Wallace. Joel Dahmen will also be at the Corales Golf Club this week. He’s struggled to find form this season, having been cut from half the tournaments he’s competed in. However, T11 at THE PLAYERS Championship and a victory here in 2021 will give him the confidence he needs heading into this week. K.H Lee will also be teeing it up in the Dominican Republic. He’s found good form in the last month with a T4 at the Cognizant Classic and a T9 at the Valspar Championship. Others to look out for in Puntacana this week are Billy Horschel, Victor Perez and Carl Yuan.

Friday morning Graham let’s take a look
at some of the early highlights Wesley
Bryan pick it up right where he left off
as first toll of the day at 10 yeah what
a way to start the day porn in one part
five 12th is third tricky little shot
here you see kind of into the grain
little stab sha with some
spin beautifully
played johnas

and this one’s down the left I must be
the curse guys he might have missed two
or three Fairway since I’ve been with
him didn’t miss a fairway
yesterday 169 has been in between clubs
eight and a seven on and went back to
the seven and this looks really good
guys using the wind to get to that right
hole
location spectacular yeah distance
control with the wind out of the rough
chipping a little seven out into the
wind I I love that play the
leader that new putter is working
well amazing you put a new putter in the
B
it’s not a bunker you got to avoid that
as
well this one starts at the bunker and
not cutting away from
it that’s fine though it’s short enough
again if this gets up in the wind we get
knocked
down it got up in the wind and looks to
be a little left oh that’s really good
actually all over it and he had that
towering shot it landed so softly even
on that down slope barely kick forward
and that’ll be a kick
in and we got a give it to the man if
you’re playing your
normal money game at the club Bryant now
12 under leading by one
course record tying 63 on Thursday carry
the lead into the weekend here he is on
the E yeah such a beautiful little hole
with that straight down win though that
front pin tough to get
to and Wesley Bryan same hole you can
see Kevin tw’s Ball there so he knows
that he has to make that to keep Pace on
the T it’s Wesley Bryan and say hello to

is the par five if you can carry it
about 330 you can catch a down

slope wow and he did hit that hard down
the right side it caught that down slope
and it’s 6:30 this is this little hybrid
he’s made a couple of eagles on par five
today and on a much flatter lie it’s an
accessible ho location you can’t go left
this is just going to miss the green
ride I
believe not a not a terrible spot at all
there back at 12
you got to bump it into The Fringe like
Wesley is doing but it’s so
unpredictable with that pass palum and I
think Brian to try and join him yeah it
looks a little quick in the routine
today with the putter but it’s a nice
birdie aggressive all week but it brings
those collection of bunkers down the
right into
place this one starts left there some
palm trees over there
spits out on The
Fairway nice uh tree fade
there you can ride the wind to get to
that right ho location just a
sandwich and it’s it’s enough Club it’s
drifting towards the flag it’s a good
one now comes out wall
short that spins towards the front of
the
green welcome back into the third round
of the corales pun Championship after a
poor wedge Wesley Bryan’s lengthy birdie
putt at 13 yeah that was definitely a
Miss CU it’s a I mean I’m telling you
that pin there is so scary even with the
sand wedge in your hand
but yeah full sand nearly on every t-
shot for Wesley Bryan well he got
nothing to lose sponsors invite just a
second start of the Year this is down
the left it might find the
rush one pace in was saying well you
going to need some high horsepower to
get it home here 286 all the way to the
flag it’s on a good line I just don’t
think you can get it all the way to the
green I don’t even
understand that whole location for
Wesley not in a great angle and hit the
Flop here back into the wind helps whoa
all over it
incredible yeah and on short putts like
this especially Under Pressure you just
keep your head head down yeah very nice
that is a great up and down that flop
shot was pretty good there he pery 69
here for Wesley briyan
180 you can turn it back into the wind
if you want but this is up in the air
might get knocked out of the air yeah
that’s a good one too is back into the
wind Brian for birdie
he was able to get that to the hole but
tap in par par is good at the 16th we
haven’t seen many birdies around there
today good lie and right into the wind
very
doable yeah very
nice it’s for just sliding across the
ridge from right to
left surprising Miss by
Brian yeah it was a great bunker shot
pretty simple little bunker shot but he
expected to get that up and down
direction is more back into his face I
think take it on the right edge of the
bunker this is what he’s done very nice
indeed two beauties

there Lesley Bryan splits the Fairway
he’s the co-leader at 16 under
par doesn’t seem to flight them
down and this one way up in the air as
well get knocked out of the air
nice shot that’s one of the best ones
we’ve seen at
18 difficult one to read here guys going
to ride the ridge left but the grain
around the holes to the right pours it
in Wesley bran at 17 under leading by
one thanks to a third round
70 from off the green at the par five
forth yeah and His short game was on
full display yesterday here again at the
short par five straight down win guys
are eating this hole up today Wesley
Bryan for Birdie on the 10th to see if
we can have four tied at 20 under and we
talked yesterday at the close of our
show that Wesley Bryan knows that he’s
going to have to go out today and
continue to make birdies because
everyone else is going to be pushing
behind him so Wesley three under through
10 he’d made eight bogeys through 54
holes hasn’t made a bogey yet today very
much
control and this is pulled left of the
green really Minute Target at
250 yeah this has been the hardest hole
in the golf course so far season to get
out here second shot for Brian at 11
yeah he’s missed it in some awkward
spots but he’s been chipping well today
able to spin it so much from close
range quite a difficult driving oh no
trip said that probably the narrowest
relatively speaking on the golf course
and this one drifting right but find the
Fairway 133 wind actually more left to
right and play slightly uphill can’t go
left quite a difficult one to get close
to Oh all over it
magnificent another look at how close
this was to hooping it to grab a share
of the lead at 22 under one more hop for
yeah can I reiterate four birdies to
today no Bogies and he’d made eight
Bogies through 54 holes impressive stuff
for
Wesley Brian’s third and 14 it walked
all the way up to the Green from 65 yds
this looks well done it’s about as good
as he could have done landing on the
down slope out of the r and giv himself
a birdie
opportunity Brian birdie roll on the way
at
14 I was going to say the puddle look so
comfortable today but that might had
been his worst stroke it wasn’t a
difficult part not a lot of movement in
it you’d be disappointed with five as
well 177 Mr the green left here
yesterday you cannot do that this one
starting in the center and
turning just knocked down by the one
that was actually a pretty good shot to
be honest with
you they’re coming up and over a
significant Ripple and you mentioned
Graham hard to find B birdies from down
the front here at
15 shorty for par for
Brian gives hor even more Breathing Room
you feel like Charlie Hoffman 16th Bryan
second did peek at the leaderboard uh
174 and this is way up in the wind and
getting knocked out of the air and come
up well
short Brian preparing to play is third
on the 16th well pretty straightforward
pitch the mentality has to be trying
make it took a peek at it yeah it’s a
great effort
but likely slam the door shut on Brian
and the to the
Chasers yeah this ball starting right
he’s wanting the wind to knock it to the
left but again it’s cutting up against
the wind going to come up
short full on this just a moment ago
Wesley Bryant second yeah as long as the
Li’s clean here pretty
straightforward right back into the wind
take it right over the bunker
yeah 160 not a great lie actually um and
wants to play towards the center of the
green was actually really well Struck
from that lie came out
cleanly really really really good shot
good finish for him birdie putt for
briyan on the 18th this would give him
that solo
second why not throw one more in there
that’s a great final round in the final
group hasn’t been here in a long long
time nothing to hang your head about
there second best week in tournament
history at 21 under parar Wesley Bryan

one I respect don’t was Mone well I
don’t know if it’s the money it’s the I
just don’t like having a lot of stuff

not the Finish year wanting but best
finish on T or since you’re win at RBC
Heritage what’s your initial thoughts uh
initial thoughts I mean obviously
excited it was an amazing week um but
bummed um felt like I had some good
opportunities today and uh missed a
little one on 15 16 15 uh that kind of
stung but um all in all definitely
encouraged uh how the golf game was uh
how it held up under the pressure of a
weekend uh leading a golf tournament and
I played a couple really solid rounds
and today just got beat um plain and
simple shooting nine under out there
today was impressive so hats off to
Billy and um yeah I mean I feel like all
in all if you had told me I was only one
person was going to beat me this week I
think I would have signed up for that
what’s it been like hearing kind of this
support obviously have a great following
but what is it meant to hear kind of
that support I mean it’s been amazing um
I mean I didn’t realize there were that
many people that watched our YouTube
videos down the Dominican Republic but
uh that support was amazing um online
it’s been great this week uh and I mean
honestly I feel like we made some more
good content from this week and uh some
something to build off of uh
professionally playing as well and um
looks like we’ll have some more
opportunities to play throughout the
year and um yeah
what areas in specific are you know take
for encouragement for next event play uh
making a lot of birdies was fun um and I
mean the putter didn’t really cooperate
the last couple days uh but the first
couple I mean I felt like I had the
really good feeling in the hands with
the putter um drove the golf ball I know
this isn’t like the greatest test of
driving the golf ball um by any stretch
of the imagination but overall I drove
the ball really good and um yeah I it’s
really just a matter of of getting
starts and getting opportunities and
taking advantage of them and uh did that
this week and hopefully we’ll be able to
do that more as the season goes on and
final one how much does it mean kind of
have your family there greenside oh I
mean it was amazing um because they
don’t my wife had uh some terrible
pregnancies and then with covid and all
of that I I feel like they’re they
haven’t traveled as much as maybe we had
hoped and um for the the girls to be out
here this week and really I mean I I
could have finished dead last but for
them to be able to just see Daddy hit a
few golf shots and um and kind of soak
in what the atmosphere was I feel like
was was pretty special and for me uh
just having them out here it’s amazing
and uh kind of ready to be done with
this interview to go give him some hugs
