The Chicago Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night, 12-2. The Cubs picked up their third straight win of the season and clinched a series win over the Rockies.

The Cubs offense exploded, with home runs from Seiya Suzuki, Christopher Morel, Cody Bellinger, and Garrett Cooper. Javier Assad was awesome in his first start of the season as well, pitching six scoreless innings and leading the Cubs to a big win.

the Rockies have been so bad in this
series that I’m like you got to sweep so
like we’ll see but we can talk about

win
great three straight wins starting the
season a little disappointing could have
won that first game maybe Steel’s injury
was tough to watch and all of a sudden
The Vibes are back three straight
wins nice to beat up on the Rockies the
last couple of nights but like you said
got to beat the teams you need to beat

about him anyway because of defensive re
issues with Morel at third I will give
credit where credit is due listen
everyone knows the bit I always take the
guys everyone is down on for who you got
and in hopes that it manifests them
having a good game right that’s the bit
um
madle legitimately impressed me tonight
if he hits balls like he did tonight and
listen Kyle Freeland has been on a very
bad run like he was awful last year he
had a first his first start of the year
was so bad that he left the game with a
380 ra and somehow he left this game
with an RA that was lower than that I
don’t know how that works in terms of
math but it’s just the facts but either
way he didn’t he hasn’t been very good
so of course yes I will take all of this
with a grain of salt it’s more than just
the fact that it’s the Rockies right but
magical if he’s going to hit like that
you really aren’t going to have you’re
not you’re not really going to be able
to to argue who should be playing Third
Base because clearly he’s the better
defensive third baseman and he showed
that late in the game when he had that
diving play on that Chris Bryant ground
ball and he made that throw from foul
territory man just as there’s no debate
that Morell has more power than Madrigal
there’s no probably a better H there’s
no there’s no debate that Madrigal is
the better defensive third Bas and and
you have to give this guy credit I don’t
care if you don’t like him and you’re
vocal about it I I you have to say this
everybody has to say this you have to
give him credit for taking his job
seriously sure gets a lot of money he
went out in an offseason and taught
himself how to play Third Base and I
feel comfortable every time the ball’s
hit to him you can make fun of the fact
that he takes two hops and runs and and
throws his whole body over at first Pace
you can do that but I’m going to tell
you he made a web gem night he did and

however if he is going to hit baseballs

had they were line drives I need more of
that last year this guy’s ground ball
rate made me want to puke okay he hit
way too many ground balls last year man
that sounded like a back compliment need
we need more line drives from Nick magal
if I am going to buy into him getting
everyday playing time man it’s just the
facts and I’m not buying into that I’m
just saying at some point we talked
about it yesterday when will when will
the Cubs reach the point that the Morell
experiment at third base they can’t
afford it anymore and I don’t think it’s
a time I don’t think they’re saying hey
we’re giving them to the all-star break
I think it’s more
about a number of heirs or a number of
problems but they want to give this a
shot because they know the best thing
for this team is for him to get good at
third base yeah and they are willing to
sacrifice some mistakes it’s going to
happen I heard somebody yesterday
talking about uh Mike Schmidt early in
his career had a 30 home run 30 air
season over at third base don’t get me
wrong Chris for Morel is not Michael
Jack Schmidt he’s not he’s not I hope
someday he’s Mike Schmidt but he’s not
Mike Schmidt yeah um but guys can get
better at third base yeah we we watched
madal do it maybe it’s just going to
take Morel a little bit longer I don’t
know if I have confidence in that but I
do think it’s worth the experiment early
in this season um
because this team right now I wouldn’t
say is a World Series team but
definitely should be a playoff team in
my mind it could make some noise I think
if the Cubs play we talked about record
like where do they want to be in the
season I think if they’re even
500 when steel and tyone come back
that’s an accomplishment if you can get
to if you can get through your top two
starters in your rotation being out for
a month is and still be 500 at that
point that’s good now some of these
teams in the division are off to a
pretty good start so you don’t want to
get too far behind but I think 500 still
would be okay and you’d be able to fight
your way back yeah yeah Milwaukee’s off
to a good start they haven’t lost a game
yet Pirates haven’t lost Pirates haven’t
lost yeah um Christian thinks morel’s
hitting 40 bombs listen he I don’t
remember what we predicted but I know it
was close to that high 30s
Vegas had him at 26 and2 so they weren’t
high on is that still available if you
can go place it I would place it yeah
he’s hitting more than that um you know
anyway I again this this isn’t me trying
to justify what I said about magical
yesterday or in days before I I just
want to see more of it I I legitimately
would love to see magical hit like he
did today on a regular basis I’m not
even asking for uh you know the two hit
or the three RBI asking for the two hits
and the way that he get he got those
hits which were line drives to to you
know to the Outfield he hit those balls
hard right mhm it and the that’s that’s
all I’m asking for I I there’s so many
times where it feels like this guy just
hits these these ground balls to either
short second base and you know he’s out
in out in front of all of these pitches
and the fact that he doesn’t walk a lot
could concerns me cuz if he doesn’t walk
a lot that means that he really does
need to hit 300 for him to be a valuable
player offensively so to bring this all
around I hope this is a building point
for a a a building block for him I
really do because if so then yeah I’ll
feel more comfortable about Morell
playing third base and I can eventually
perhaps maybe buy into magical playing
third because again the defense is there
I just want to see more offensively
because if it doesn’t show up
offensively then he just he’s a u guy he
is a you know you know a couple times a
week guy playing which still might be
the case and that still could be a very
valuable role to this team nobody’s
saying taking bats away from Morel no
you got to put he the most dangerous bat
I know no one’s saying that I know no
one’s saying that nobody saying but like
but because you have the DH there’s
there’s always a spot for Morel so that
don’t worry about that we’re just saying
you’re able to have the best offensive
lineup for the Cubs if Morel is at third
because you can have another Power
hitting DH one thing that I haven’t said
that goes with this is credit to Craig
counil for putting magical in there for
a good matchup cuz it was a good match
up for him tonight because Kyle Freeland
been terrible against righties he he was
awful against righties last year and
he’s been awful against righties in the
first star of the season so coming into
this game putting magal in the lineup
made sense so when I saw it I didn’t
exactly freak out in the most like
negative way about it I was just kind of
like all right I’m not really surprised
you got a lefty on the mound Michael
Bush is a is a lefty and you they
clearly want to do a platoon like first
Bas thing with Cooper and him uh you
know Cooper facing lefties and Bush
facing righties so that made sense that
Cooper was in there and then magical
another right-handed bat you can add in
there agreed and everybody in the chat
say you can move Morell to DH and and go
with uh and go with magical at third so

wesneski because both have I well Wes’s
proven in a in two to three inning

really well how that kind of saves the
bullpen with with different guys not
having to go for a couple days in a row

the end of last season it felt like
every game was a one-run game like yeah
this is when you have imanaga going six
uh six shut out Assad going six shutout
you’re not using your high leverage guys
you’re not using you know all your
Bullpen because your guys can’t last
into the game like they were in Texas we
saw that a couple times in Texas like
that allows the Cubs to go and and do
something like this tomorrow knowing
that you know Luke little did Pitch
today but he didn’t pitch that much and
he can go in and get maybe an inning may
maybe two right like Ben Brown can go
and get some length tomorrow and then
you got your backend guys if you need
them at the end of the game you know two
days rest right now so um all that all
that stuff kind of goes into it right is
just how the team’s performed the last
couple days and Colorado and that’s been
that allows the Cubs to be willing to
start Luke little tomorrow and and what
looks to be a bullpen day I like you
said imanaga and Assad that’s 12 shutout
Innings and 14 strikeouts in two days if
you’re looking for guys that have
stepped up the first week of the Season
big raise of the hand for those two guys
for sure uh the
offense was great tonight I didn’t know
I thought the wind was blowing in then I
guess it was was sort of blowing out for
a little bit just surprised that four
home runs got out on a cold night like
this I mean I didn’t think anybody was
going to hit one and the Cubs ended up
with four including one off the
scoreboard well video I’m sorry video
board not off the scoreboard yeah that
that was interesting well it was mostly
blowing like left field foul Pole to
right field foul pole is kind of what it
was so like morel’s home run to left
field was pretty impressive that he
muscled that one out through the wind
and obviously se’s 115 mile per hour
line drive like if he doesn’t hit it
that hard that one’s bouncing off the
The Ivy that’s not there right it’s
bouncing off the wall because the the
launch angle wasn’t for a home run it
was just the fact that he hit it 150
miles per hour and then yeah Bellinger’s
moment was I don’t know how many people
were left in the stadium at that point
it was 26,000 and something announce
attendance um but you know it was the
what seventh inning something like that
of of a blowout I don’t know how many
people were left but all of a sudden got
really loud with a Chance of of Cody for
Cody Bellinger um are we sure it’s for
Cody Bellinger yeah positive was for
Cody
B never know never know they could have
been a beer bat chug well it is
WrestleMania weekend this weekend so
they might have been chanting for Cody
Rose but that’s true too that’s true too
no but mean I’m saying that that was
that was pretty interesting like I’m I’m
sitting here working you know all of a

look up within seconds Cody Bellinger
knocks one off the video board and right
field like that was a pretty cool moment
and obviously Garett Cooper right him
having his first big day with the Cubs
um so a lot of a lot of Nick Madero
putting a couple hits together just like
it felt like the whole lineup was able
to get you know get things going right
and you know as talking to Garett Cooper
after the game and he you know Assad and
and Craig counil Cody buer all of them
talking about just what a big day um you
know the had at the plate and being able
to do that against the Rockies you know
a team that obviously is not we don’t we
don’t look at as at the Cubs level right
now but you still go you still got to go
out and win those games um the offense
on top of Assad in the managa starts the
last two days the offense has been just
as big a part and really making it easy
on a lot the rest of the team miguela I
believe the only cub in the starting
lineup that didn’t reach base tonight
and a lot of guys reached it multiple
times there were a lot of two hit guys
in the line a lot of multiple RB i scor
n Nico walked twice which is great he
got hit by a pitch right he hit the ball
hard um so I mean the offense was there
and you know the Cubs have talked about
there sometimes you just got to blow
teams out you don’t want to just be
around good teams blow teams out and I
don’t know if the offense is going to be
there all year like that but tonight it
was good to blow a team out yeah get it
over with uh should we get to who you
got because I know the people are have
been clamored do you have any other very
important news and notes or or or
comments or sound bites that you want to
tell us before we get the uh heavily
anticipated who you got contest yeah I
wanted to uh Morel specifically talking
to Craig conso after the game and I I

start the year offensively has been

after that home run he had like a 1200
Ops some somewh around there I think
right now it’s like 381 average 1171 Ops
um and Craig
counil postgame called it like a
controlled aggression in him right now
which is a pretty interesting way to put
it but I think the it is only five games
into the season but I think the one
thing to look at with Morell right now
he has two home runs one strikeout for a
guy that like we’ve talked about the
last two seasons that this guy strikes
out a lot and you can live with that in
his game because of the power he G gives
you but knowing that that is a part of
his game the guy has one strike out
through 22 plate appearances and he has
two home runs he has a triple right has
as many triples as a strikeout so I
don’t think he has a walk yet but only
one more strike out than than walk so
far and it is a small sample but it’s
like that is so far an interesting
development um for Morell in the start
of the season I you know we’ve seen him
have his cold streaks and I I I’m not
saying I assume they’re coming but I
wouldn’t be shocked if they do and and
maybe the strikeout numbers go up a
little bit during those stretches but um
for right now he’s hitting fourth in the
line but DH or him playing Third Base
like he’s arguably the most important
bat in this lineup so far this year and
it’s been really interesting to see but
like that specifically the one strikeout
through 22 plate appearance like that’s
been really kind of eye opening as he
you know he’s in his third Big League
season there was a there was a moment in
I think the game like the third game
against the Rangers I know he hadit the
home run that game but there was another
Sunday yeah on Sunday
and he was in a RBI
spot and last year he was okay in like
high leverage spots or Runners and
scoring position whatever you want to
call it like he he de he delivered a lot
with the runners and scoring position
last year but what I liked in that
particular bat that I’m trying to
explain here even though the result
didn’t come I he ended up like popping
out the third or something like that
right and the Cubs left multiple guys on
base but I love the fact that he didn’t
strike out because last year I feel like
that’s when he would have because I felt
like a lot of his strikeouts despite the
fact that he did have good moments with
Runners and scoring position he would
strike out a lot in those moments too so
um yeah I was going to bring that up
when you started talking about Morell
and you was like you read my mind or
maybe Craig counil was reading my mind I
don’t know but he’s yeah he’s been
incredible start this year like all
offseason talking about the ceiling of
what Christopher Morell could be we’re
seeing it so far we and we knew and I I
think we all knew that it was there or
that it could be there you know just got
to figure out the defense and this guy
could be a superstar in the making man
if he hits like this you know what
happens when you put the ball in play
instead of striking out the ball rolls
all the way to the Outfield wall and you
end up with an inside the park Little
League home run or you get a Nick
Madrigal few extra B on it tonight like
the the Rockies have given the Cubs
plenty of opportunities so far in this
season all right who you
got I won yesterday with Morell I felt
uh obligated to take somebody else so I
went somebody else uh I think Cory who
who picked first Cory Cory jumped on the
SE train right away because he was I oh
you went magal right out of you went
mags I did I did go mags right uh Cody
went mags right out of the gate uh then
I believe Cory jumped in with SE cuz he
was saying listen this guy’s exit V has
been like 100 plus every single at bat
he’s ready to explode so he jumped on
that then quickly Ryan jumped in with
Dansby and I followed in when I got here
and I said I’ll take
Bellinger so who is the H you got player
of the game is it Bellinger who took one
off the scoreboard he wasn’t in it for a
while there was no there was no argument
for Bellinger but Ryan just told us that
the most exciting part of the game The
Vibes of all Vibes the chanting from the
crowd was from and for Cody Bellinger
that’s what I heard that’s what I heard
the most electric moment of the night
was chanting from the crowd for Cody
Bellinger who had two hits two
RBI two runs scored and a homer solid
night uh mags drove in three had two
hits stole can’t call him mags we can’t
call him mags
Maddie something besides mat mat nice we
can’t let Gary win Gary win Matty nice
Matty nice drove in three had two hits
made a nice play over at third base
stole a bag uh or is it SE 115 milph
first home run of the season I had the
double play and was that the first
inning threw the guy out at first who I
don’t know I don’t even know what I
still don’t get what they were doing
there
but it would be aad my pick would be aad
but we’re not picking pitchers it’s a
hitting contest I I would I would think
Assad and then Cooper or Cooper maybe
number one somebody had C it could be c
yeah I mean madal two for two for five
and it made an awesome play at third
base like we can’t forget like that was
a very good play to to diving stop Chris
Brighton basically the corner of the
infield before you get in the left field
throws it all the way over there hops
hops once or twice but strong thr gets
up strong throw gets it over to first
base for the out um you know can’t
forget about that however I I do think
seya um had the best day for between the
ones that we pick for who you got I’m my
vote it to me it’s a real tough call
honestly I didn’t think Bellinger had a
shot I I’m I’m I don’t think he wins but
he did hit it off the scoreboard and he
had two hits just like Madrigal had two
hits uh I would have said SE a 115 but I
also said tonight in Slack if there’s a
tiebreaker you got to go with the most
outof thebox pick you have to you have
to go with the Bolder pick like if we if
you’re just going to pick Bellinger and
Dansby and like the the you know usual
suspects Mell then there should be some
reward for
picking uh who’s my guy uh that I picked
that time for three points eston Kos
eston Kos like that should be worth
something when you pick EST there should
be a little something extra
so it’s tough to say 115 mil hour is is
something but I will
say if there’s a tiebreaker I would say
it m it’s madal now evil evil wax 73

deadlocked and so I am somewhat inclined

it but I’m a man of integrity so I’m
