Why hasn’t Embiid dominated in the playoffs?

Joel Embiid has yet to have a signature playoff series heading into the 2024 NBA playoffs. This detailed film breakdown & scouting report explores why his scoring has gone down, his turnovers have gone up and why that trend might not continue going forward.

  1. Joel is my favorite player. Maxey is my 2nd favorite. I’m glad we made a coaching change over the summer. I’m excited for this post season

  2. That’s the real disadvantage of a center playing like a wing. Trying to do all this set up at the the key is really effective in pure isolation. If he just fought for deep position in the post it would take such a mental burden of him because the double can only come a few direction. He can also just immediately shoot a nice hook because he’s right there. Not everyone can be joker you gotta play to your strength.

  3. He will either end up against Knicks with 2 very bruising centars in IH or Mitch or old foes who are looking better then ever with oldest nightmare Al Horford, i feel like Maxey and Oubre should try to get thiers before Embiid, to me they are the key

  4. i think the issue with joel is is that he isnt super high iq cuz he hasnt played his whole life but i think he has improved in taking advantage of defenses but what i think he needs is a great coach to put a system for him to work out of cuz with doc it seemed it was alot of iso's..i think nurse has done that but i dont think theyll make much noise this year but next season i can see philly doing they thing this year i think its denvers

  5. For majority of injuries it is Embiids fault..fishing fouls with idiotic tantrums..he Is anti team hype dude .it us painfull.. basicly in a lot situations he position badly for team play..overall he is harden wilt empty calories..and excuse. That he has bad team mates is bs

  6. Simple explanation. He’s rarely healthy. And when he is healthy. He does good. So far since he came back from injury this season. Doesn’t look like he fell off one bit. So assuming he doesn’t get injured in the playoffs. He’ll have a great playoff run.

  7. Embiid much like his former sidekick Harden has not had the heart or leadership to win in the playoffs. He’s only 30 I won’t say it can’t happen but I’m not anticipating it

  8. Chris Paul didn’t go to his first conference finals until he was 33, people act like embiids career is about to end soon or something with how they rush expectations onto him

  9. Embids shoots 12 free throws per game and his playstyle of flopping around and abusing the favorable refereeing is the reason why he drops of a cliff in playoffs. Guess you didnt need much thinking for that. And the load management where he avoids hard games but then shows up fresh to destroy the Pistons and Wizards. Even before the injury he only played 60% of posible games. So his per game stats are meaningless and comparing them to Wilt (or any other player that plays 70+ games per season) is a disgrace you should be ashamed of.
I can hear some saying I am an hater.
Yeah I am a lover of basketball. Hater of frauds and affirmative action award racial quota MVPs…

  10. well it is easy to score 30~40 points against weaker teams (like Detroit, Washington etc.) and their centers but when it comes to playoffs, Embiid is facing way stronger teams with better centers and of course with prepared defense against Philly and Embiid. Also to mention, he averages almost 12 free throws per game and almost makes 11 of them so there are 11 easy points.

  11. Joel struggles with double teams from the post because he doesn't post up deep enough. He lets smaller, weaker defenders push him out, so now defenders have more time to rotate. That's inexcusable when you're the biggest, strongest player on the court 99% of the time.

  12. He is not built for playoff basketball, he expects foul calls and purposely falls down more often than not to draw fouls. That causes injuries, and is part of why Jokic is usually healthy he doesn't fall down to get calls often. Also he tends to sit against top tier opponents during the regular season, so he isn't even training to play the best he ducks them to stat pad against bad teams.

You said he is responsible for 43% of his teams scoring while on the court, so jam up the paint and make him find the correct outlet. Thats why he blames his teammates for losing in the playoffs, he can't do his normal things as easily if a team has a 7 game gameplan versus random team X coming to town for a night in February. He had Harden, a multiple time scoring and assists leader in the NBA, but Embiid couldn't get the ball to the right outlet and it make Harden suffer.(he has his own issues, but I thought he looked ok last year compared to Houston Harden in the strip club till dawn every night.)

Watching this breakdown its clear why Jokic is the one talked about for the Hall of Fame one day while Embiid will be begging to get in with no rings in Philly when he demands a trade in the next year or two.

  13. When I see this you realize why Jokic is who he is. Yes Embiid is a dominant player but he can't match Jokers court vision or efficiency
